Description

Project device and electronic device including same

[0001] The present invention relates to a project device and an electronic device including the same.

[0002] Virtual Reality (VR) refers to a specific environment or situation, or the technology itself, that is similar to reality but not real, created using artificial technology such as computers.

[0003] Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology that synthesizes virtual objects or information into the real environment to make them appear as objects that exist in the original environment.

[0004] Mixed reality (MR) or hybrid reality refers to the creation of new environments or information by merging the virtual and real worlds. In particular, it refers to real-time interaction between real and virtual worlds.

[0005] At this time, the created virtual environments and situations stimulate the user's five senses, allowing them to experience spatial and temporal experiences similar to reality, freely moving between reality and imagination. Furthermore, users can not only immerse themselves in these environments, but also interact with the objects embodied within them, using real devices to control and command them.

[0006] Recently, active research has been conducted on the gear and devices used in these fields. However, the need for miniaturization and improved optical performance is emerging. In particular, depending on the shape of the electronic device (e.g., the position and shape of the display unit), the projection device's output angle can be affected by the addition of prisms for tilting or by increased volume.

[0007] The embodiment provides a projector device and an electronic device having a first axis and a third axis spaced apart to compensate for a phenomenon in which tilt occurs between a display unit (e.g., a waveguide) and a projector device when using a projector device used for AR (Augmented Reality) and an electronic device including the same.

[0008] In addition, the embodiment can provide a projector device and electronic device that can be easily miniaturized by controlling the size of the projection lens portion.

[0009] Additionally, the embodiment can provide a projector device and electronic device with improved compatibility with other components for specifications while reducing manufacturing costs by tilting the light emitted from the projector device only by moving the projection lens unit or prism without additional optical path changing elements (e.g., prisms) or tilting the projector device.

[0010] In addition, a projector device and electronic device with reduced volume can be provided through the shape of the projection lens of the projection lens unit.

[0011] The problem to be solved in the embodiment is not limited to this, and it can be said that the purpose or effect that can be understood from the solution or implementation form of the problem described below is also included.

[0012] A projector device according to an embodiment includes a light source unit that emits light; a light modulator that modulates the light; a projection lens unit onto which light modulated by the light modulator is incident; and a prism arranged between the light modulator and the projection lens unit; wherein a first axis, which is an optical axis of the projection lens unit, is parallel to a third axis, which is an optical axis of the modulated light, but is spaced apart from each other.

[0013] The second axis, which is the optical axis of the upper surface of the optical modulator, may be perpendicular to the first axis and the third axis.

[0014] The first axis and the third axis may be spaced apart along the vertical direction.

[0015] The above modulated light can be incident on either the upper or lower portion of the projection lens unit.

[0016] The vertical length of the projection lens portion may be greater than the vertical length of the exit surface of the prism.

[0017] The above projection lens unit includes a lower region and an upper region divided in a vertical direction, and the lower region may be adjacent to the optical modulator.

[0018] The upper region and the lower region may have different areas overlapping with the exit surface and the exit direction of the prism.

[0019] One of the upper region and the lower region may have a larger area overlapping the exit surface of the prism in the exit direction than the other.

[0020] As the distance between the first axis and the third axis increases, the projection lens unit may be configured to output an image such that the angle with respect to the first axis increases.

[0021] The vertical length of the projection lens portion may be 0.5 to 1.5 times the vertical length of the exit surface of the prism.

[0022] The above projection lens unit can be formed asymmetrically with the first axis as the origin.

[0023] The above projection lens unit may include a first projection lens closest to the prism.

[0024] The first projection lens may have a different size from the exit surface of the prism for the modulated light.

[0025] The above first projection lens may be partially non-overlapping in the exit direction and the exit surface of the prism for the modulated light.

[0026] The first projection lens may at least partially overlap with the exit surface of the prism for the modulated light.

[0027] The embodiment implements a projector device and an electronic device having a first axis and a third axis spaced apart to compensate for a phenomenon in which tilt occurs between a display unit (e.g., a waveguide) and a projector device when using a projector device used for AR (Augmented Reality) and an electronic device including the same.

[0028] In addition, the embodiment can implement a projector device and electronic device that can be easily miniaturized by controlling the size of the projection lens portion.

[0029] Additionally, the embodiment allows for a projector device and electronic device to be implemented with improved compatibility with other components and specifications while reducing manufacturing costs by tilting the light emitted from the projector device only by moving the projection lens unit or prism without additional optical path changing elements (e.g., prisms) or tilting the projector device.

[0030] In addition, a volume-reduced projector device and electronic device can be implemented through the shape of the projection lens of the projection lens section.

[0031] The various advantageous and beneficial effects of the present invention are not limited to the above-described contents, and will be more easily understood in the course of explaining specific embodiments of the present invention.

[0084] FIG. 2 is a perspective view of an augmented reality electronic device according to an embodiment of the present invention.

[0085] As illustrated in FIG. 2, an electronic device according to an embodiment of the present invention may include a frame (100), a projector device (200), and a display unit (300).

[0086] The electronic device may be provided as a glass type (smart glass). The glass type electronic device is configured to be worn on the head of the human body and may include a frame (case, housing, etc.) (100) for this purpose. The frame (100) may be formed of a flexible material to facilitate wearing.

[0087] The frame (100) is supported by the head and provides a space for mounting various components. As illustrated, electronic components such as a projector device (200), a user input unit (130), or an audio output unit (140) may be mounted on the frame (100). In addition, a lens covering at least one of the left and right eyes may be detachably mounted on the frame (100).

[0088] The frame (100) may have a shape of glasses worn on the face of the user's body as shown in the drawing, but is not necessarily limited thereto, and may also have a shape of goggles or the like worn in close contact with the user's face.

[0089] Such a frame (100) may include a front frame (110) having at least one opening, and a pair of side frames (120) that extend in the Y direction (in FIG. 2) intersecting the front frame (110) and are parallel to each other.

[0090] The frame (100) may have the same or different length (DI) in the X direction and length (LI) in the Y direction.

[0091] The project device (200) is provided to control various electronic components provided in an electronic device. The project device (200) may be used interchangeably with 'optical output device', 'optical projector device', 'light irradiation device', 'optical device', etc.

[0092] The projector device (200) can generate an image or a video of a sequence of images that are displayed to the user. The projector device (200) can include an image source panel that generates an image and a plurality of lenses that diffuse and converge light generated from the image source panel.

[0093] The project device (200) may be fixed to one of the two side frames (120). For example, the project device (200) may be fixed to the inside or outside of one of the side frames (120), or may be integrally formed by being built into the inside of one of the side frames (120). Alternatively, the project device (200) may be fixed to the front frame (110) or may be provided separately from the electronic device.

[0094] The display unit (300) may be implemented in the form of a head-mounted display (HMD). The HMD form refers to a display method that is mounted on the head and directly displays an image in front of the user's eyes. When the user wears the electronic device, the display unit (300) may be positioned to correspond to at least one of the left and right eyes so that the image can be directly displayed in front of the user's eyes. In this drawing, the display unit (300) is positioned in a portion corresponding to the right eye so as to output an image toward the user's right eye. However, as described above, the present invention is not limited thereto and may be positioned for both the left and right eyes.

[0095] The display unit (300) can allow the user to visually perceive the external environment while simultaneously allowing the user to see images generated by the projector device (200). For example, the display unit (300) can project images onto the display area using a prism. The display unit (300) can include a combiner. The combiner reflects images generated from the digital display to the user's eyes, allowing the user to view digital content. Additionally, the combiner can be made of a transparent or translucent material, allowing the user to view the real world. The combiner can be implemented using various technologies. The holographic combiner can include a holographic combiner, a prism combiner, a waveguide combiner, etc.

[0096] The display unit (300) may be formed to be translucent so that the projected image and the general field of view in front (the range that the user sees through his eyes) can be viewed simultaneously. For example, the display unit (300) may be translucent and formed of an optical member including glass.

[0097] And the display unit (300) can be inserted into and fixed to an opening included in the front frame (110), or can be positioned on the back side of the opening (i.e., between the opening and the user) and fixed to the front frame (110). In the drawing, an example in which the display unit (300) is positioned on the back side of the opening and fixed to the front frame (110) is shown, but the display unit (300) can be positioned and fixed to various positions of the frame (100).

[0098] As illustrated in FIG. 2, when the electronic device projects image light from the projector device (200) onto one side of the display unit (300), the image light is emitted to the other side through the display unit (300), thereby allowing the user to see the image generated from the projector device (200).

[0099] Accordingly, the user can view the external environment through the opening of the frame (100) and simultaneously view the image generated by the projector device (200). That is, the image output through the display unit (300) can be seen to overlap with the general field of view. By utilizing these display characteristics, electronic devices can provide augmented reality (AR) that superimposes a virtual image on a real image or background and shows it as a single image.

[0100] Furthermore, in addition to these operations, images generated from the external environment and the projector device (200) may be provided to the user with a time difference for a short period of time that is not recognized by the user. For example, within a single frame, the external environment may be provided to the user during one section, and images from the projector device (200) may be provided to the user during another section.

[0101] Alternatively, both overlap and time difference may be provided.

[0102] Additionally, the projector device according to the embodiment may have a structure described below, or may be formed of a structure further including a waveguide or / and glass in the structure. Additionally, the projector device may include a DLP (Digital Light Processing) projector or a projector device.

[0105] The housing (210) may have a space or housing groove in which each component of the projector device (200) is accommodated or placed. The housing (210) may be located on the outside of the projector device (200). For example, a light source unit (220), a first lens unit (230), a second lens unit (240), a second mirror (252), a first mirror (251), a third lens (261), a fourth lens (262), a reflector (253), a fifth lens (263), a prism (270), a light modulator (280), and a projection lens unit (290) may be placed in the housing (210).

[0106] Additionally, the housing (210) may have an open structure on one side. Accordingly, each of the above-described components may be assembled through the open area or surface. Furthermore, a blocking member (TP), as described below, may be placed on the open area or surface of the housing (210).

The first light source (221) and the second light source (222) may be positioned adjacent to different surfaces within the housing (210). A detailed description thereof will be provided below.

[0110] And the first light source (221) and the second light source (222) can emit light of different wavelength bands or colors. Either of the first light source (221) and the second light source (222) can emit light of different wavelength bands. Either one can emit at least two of red, green, and blue light. And the other one can emit the remaining light. For example, the first light source (221) can emit light of a green wavelength. For example, the light of a green wavelength in the first light source (221) can be the center wavelength. And the second light source (222) can emit light of red and blue. For example, the light of red and blue can be the center wavelength in the second light source (222).

[0111] And the first light source (221) and the second light source (222) may each have a diagonal length of several mm. For example, the first light source (221) and the second light source (222) may each have a diagonal length of 1.635 mm.

[0112] In addition, in the projector device according to the embodiment, the first direction may correspond to the 'X-axis direction' in the drawing. The first direction may correspond to the direction from the first light source (221) toward the projection lens unit (290). Alternatively, the first direction may correspond to the direction from the first surface of the housing (210) toward the third surface. Furthermore, the second direction may correspond to the Y-axis direction in the drawing. The second direction may be a direction perpendicular to the first direction. The third direction may be a direction perpendicular to the first direction and the second direction. And the third direction may correspond to the 'Z-axis direction' in the drawing.

[0113] Additionally, in the light source unit (220), the first light source (221) and the second light source (222) may emit light in different directions. In other words, the direction of light emission from the first light source (221) and the direction of light emission from the second light source (222) may not be parallel to each other.

[0114] In the projector device, the lens unit may be positioned at the rear end of the light source unit. In an embodiment, the lens unit may include a first lens unit (230) positioned at the rear end of the first light source (221) and a second lens unit (240) positioned at the rear end of the second light source (222).

[0115] The first lens unit (230) may be positioned adjacent to the first light source (221). Light emitted from the first light source (221) may pass through the first lens unit (230). The first lens unit (230) may be positioned on the first direction (X-axis direction) side of the first light source (221). Alternatively, the first lens unit (230) may be positioned on the side of the emission direction of the first light source (221) on the first light source (221).

[0116] The second lens unit (240) may be positioned adjacent to the second light source (222). Light emitted from the second light source (222) may pass through the second lens unit (240). The second lens unit (240) may be positioned on the second direction (Y-axis direction) side of the second light source (222). Alternatively, the second lens unit (240) may be positioned on the side of the emission direction of the second light source (222) on the second light source (222).

[0117] Additionally, the second light source (222) and the first light source (221) may be spaced apart from each other in the second direction (Y-axis direction). For example, the second light source (222) may be spaced apart from the first light source (221) at least partially along the first direction (X-axis direction). In other words, the second light source (222) may not overlap with the first light source (221) at least partially along the first direction (Y-axis direction).

[0118] Additionally, the first lens unit (230) may be spaced apart from the second lens unit (240) in the second direction (Y-axis direction). For example, the second lens unit (240) may be spaced apart from the first lens unit (230) at least partially in the first direction (X-axis direction). In other words, the second lens unit (240) may not overlap the first lens unit (230) at least partially in the first direction (Y-axis direction).

[0119] The first lens unit (230) may include at least one lens. The first lens unit (230) may include a first-first lens (231) and a first-second lens (232).

[0120] The first-first lens (231) may be positioned so that light emitted from the first light source (221) is incident thereon. The first-first lens (231) may be positioned at the rear end of the first light source (221). In this embodiment, the rear end is described based on the direction in which light emitted from the light source travels. In addition, the light may be emitted from the light source and output to the outside through the projection lens unit (290). Accordingly, the projection lens unit (290) may be positioned at the rear end of the light source unit.

[0121] The first-first lens (231) may overlap the first light source (221) in the first direction (X-axis direction). In addition, the first-second lens (232) may be arranged so that light passing through the first-first lens (231) is incident. The first-second lens (232) may be positioned at the rear end of the first-first lens (231). Based on the direction of travel of light emitted from the first light source (221), the first-first lens (231), and the first-second lens (232) may be arranged sequentially.

[0122] The first-second lens (232) can overlap with the first light source (221) and the first-first lens (231) in the first direction (X-axis direction). Accordingly, the first-first lens (231) and the first-second lens (232) can collect light emitted from the first light source (221).

[0123] By this configuration, it is possible to reduce the loss of light emitted from the light source (e.g., the first light source) and facilitate reduction in the volume of the projector device.

[0124] The second lens unit (240) may include at least one lens. The second lens unit (240) may include a second-first lens (241) and a second-second lens (242).

[0125] The second-1 lens (241) can be positioned so that light emitted from the second light source (222) is incident thereon. The second-1 lens (241) can be positioned at the rear end of the second light source (222).

[0126] The second-first lens (241) may overlap the second light source (222) in the second direction (Y-axis direction). And the second-second lens (242) may be arranged so that light passing through the second-first lens (241) is incident. The second-second lens (242) may be positioned at the rear end of the second-first lens (241). Based on the direction of travel of light emitted from the second light source (222), the second-first lens (241), and the second-second lens (242) may be arranged sequentially. The second-second lens (242) may be positioned above the second-first lens (241). In this specification, the upper side means the second direction (Y-axis direction). For example, the 2-2 lens may be positioned above the 2-1 lens, and the 2-1 lens may be positioned below the 2-2 lens.

[0127] Additionally, the second-1 lens (241) can be positioned on the second light source (222).

[0128] The second-second lens (242) can be overlapped with the second light source (222) and the second-first lens (241) in the second direction (X-axis direction). Accordingly, the second-first lens (241) and the second-second lens (242) can collect light emitted from the second light source (222).

[0129] By this configuration, it is possible to reduce the loss of light emitted from the light source (e.g., the second light source) and facilitate reduction in the volume of the projector device.

[0130] The first mirror (251) and the second mirror (252) may be positioned at the rear end of the first lens unit (230) or the second lens unit (240). For example, the first mirror (251) and the second mirror (252) may be positioned on the first direction side from the first light source (221) or on the first direction (X-axis direction) side from the first lens unit (230). In addition, the first mirror (251) and the second mirror (252) may be spaced apart from the first light source (221) or the first lens unit (230) in the first direction (X-axis direction). In addition, the first mirror (251) and the second mirror (252) may transmit light emitted from the first light source (221) (or the second light source) and light transmitted (or emitted) through the first lens unit (230) (or the second lens unit).

[0131] More specifically, the first mirror (251) and the second mirror (252) can transmit light emitted from the first light source (221) and the first lens unit (230). In addition, the first mirror (251) and the second mirror (252) can reflect light emitted from the second light source (222) and light transmitted through the second lens unit (240). In addition, the second mirror (252) can transmit light transmitted through the first mirror (251). By this configuration, light emitted from the first light source (221) and the second light source (222) can be collected by the first and second lens units and then incident on the third lens (261) at the rear end. Accordingly, light required for light modulation or image generation can be incident on the light modulator (280).

[0132] Furthermore, a second mirror (252) may be placed at the rear end of the first mirror (251). The first mirror (251) and the second mirror (252) may be tilted at a predetermined angle with respect to the X-axis or the Y-axis. In addition, the angles at which the first mirror (251) and the second mirror (252) are tilted with respect to the X-axis or the Y-axis may be different from each other.

[0133] In addition, the separation distance between each end of the first mirror (251) and the second mirror (252) may be the same as or different from the separation distance at each other end. For example, the separation distance (g1) between one end of the second mirror (252) and one end of the first mirror (251) may be different from the separation distance (g2) between the other end of the second mirror (252) and the other end of the first mirror (251). In addition, the separation distance (g1) between one end of the second mirror (252) and one end of the first mirror (251) may be smaller than the separation distance (g2) between the other end of the second mirror (252) and the other end of the first mirror (251).

[0134] Additionally, the first mirror (251) and the second mirror (252) may have different lengths. For example, the first mirror (251) and the second mirror (252) may have different lengths on the plane (XY). For example, the length of the second mirror (252) arranged at the rear end may be greater than the length of the first mirror (251).

[0135] Additionally, the first mirror (251) and the second mirror (252) may include dichroic mirrors. The first mirror (251) may include a dichroic mirror for red. The second mirror (252) may include a dichroic mirror for blue. Accordingly, the first mirror (251) may reflect light in the red wavelength band, and the second mirror (252) may reflect light in the blue wavelength band.

[0136] The third lens (261) may be arranged at the rear end of the second mirror (252) and the first mirror (251). The third lens (261) may overlap at least partially with the second mirror (252) and the first mirror (251) in the first direction (X-axis direction). Furthermore, the third lens (261) may also overlap at least partially with the first light source (221) and the first lens unit (230) in the first direction.

[0137] The third lens (261) and the fourth lens (262) described later may be positioned between the reflector (253) and the lens section (230, 240). Alternatively, the third lens (261) and the fourth lens (262) described later may be positioned between the reflector (253) and the first mirror (or second mirror). The third lens (261) and the fourth lens (262) may be arranged sequentially.

[0138] Furthermore, the third lens (261) can transmit light transmitted from the second mirror (252) and light reflected from the first mirror (251). The third lens (261) can include a fly-eye lens (FEL). For example, the third lens (261) can be formed by an array of small lenses. Accordingly, the third lens (261) can focus and condense light rays. In addition, the third lens (261) can focus light rays incident on the entire surface to a point or a small area, or can diffuse the light rays. In an embodiment, the third lens (261) can collect light rays. Furthermore, the third lens (261) can reflect or refract light rays, or separate light of a specific wavelength, depending on the surface and shape of each lens.

[0139] The third lens (261) may have a diagonal length of several millimeters or less. For example, the third lens (261) may have a diagonal length of 0.797 mm.

[0140] In addition, the third lens (261) may be positioned between the first mirror (251) and the fourth lens (262). The first mirror (251) may be positioned at the front end of the third lens (261). In addition, the fourth lens (262) may be positioned at the rear end of the third lens (261). In this way, in the present specification, each component of the projector device may be positioned between a component positioned at the front end and a component positioned at the rear end. For example, the third lens (261) may be positioned between at least one of the light source unit, the first and second lens units, the first mirror, and the second mirror, and at least one of the fourth lens, the reflector, the fifth lens, the prism, the light modulator, and the projection lens unit. In this way, this positional relationship may be equally applied to other components.

[0141] The fourth lens (262) may be arranged at the rear end of the third lens (261). The fourth lens (262) may be arranged on the first direction (X-axis direction) side with respect to the third lens (261). The fourth lens (262) may overlap at least partially with the third lens (261) in the first direction (X-axis direction). Similarly, the fourth lens (262) may also overlap at least partially with the second mirror (252), the first mirror (251), the first lens unit (230), and the first light source (221) in the first direction (X-axis direction). By this configuration, miniaturization of the projector device can be easily achieved.

[0142] The fourth lens (262) may include a relay lens. The fourth lens (262) may transmit light emitted or transmitted from the third lens (261). The fourth lens (262) may transmit light from one location to another. That is, the fourth lens (262) may align or change the path of the light. Furthermore, the fourth lens (262) may adjust the size of the light or image (maximum area of the light) provided by the illumination system, or compensate for optical differences.

[0143] The reflector (253) may be located at the rear end of the fourth lens (262). The reflector (253) may be located on the first direction (X-axis direction) side of the fourth lens (262). The reflector (253) may be spaced apart from the fourth lens (262) in the first direction.

[0144] And the reflector (253) can be tilted at a predetermined angle with respect to the fourth lens (262). The reflector (253) can reflect light emitted from the fourth lens (262). For example, light passing through the fourth lens (262) can be reflected by the reflector (253), so that the light path can be directed toward the projection lens and then reflected downward. In other words, the reflector (253) can change the light path.

[0145] The reflector (253) can be tilted at a predetermined angle with respect to the fourth lens (262) or the first direction, etc. By this configuration, the length of the projector device according to the embodiment can be minimized in the second direction.

[0146] The fifth lens (263) may be positioned at the rear end of the reflector (253). The fifth lens (263) may be positioned at the lower portion of the reflector (253). The fifth lens (263) may overlap the reflector (253) at least partially in the second direction.

[0147] The fifth lens (263) can be placed between the reflector (253) and the prism (270).

[0148] The fourth lens (262) and the fifth lens (263) may have a diagonal length of several millimeters. For example, the fourth lens (262) may have a diagonal length of 3.5 mm, and the fifth lens (263) may have a diagonal length of 6 mm. The diagonal length of each component described above may be varied within a range of 20% to achieve optical performance and miniaturization within the exemplified range.

[0149] The fifth lens (263) may include a relay lens. The fifth lens (263) may transmit light reflected from the reflector (253). The fifth lens (263) may transmit light from one location to another. That is, the fifth lens (263) may align or change the path of the light. Furthermore, the fifth lens (263) may adjust the size of the light or image (maximum area of the light) provided by the illumination system, or compensate for optical differences. For example, the fifth lens (263) may perform light focusing.

[0150] Additionally, the fourth lens (262), the reflector (253), and the fifth lens (263) can be sequentially arranged so that light emitted or transmitted from the second mirror (252) and the first mirror (251) is incident.

[0151] Furthermore, the exit surface of the fifth lens (263) may be positioned higher than the exit surface of the second-first lens (241). In addition, the exit surface of the fifth lens (263) may be positioned higher than the exit surface of the second-second lens (242).

[0152] The prism (270) may be arranged at the rear end of the fifth lens (263). In addition, the prism (270) may be arranged sequentially with the fifth lens (263). Furthermore, the prism (270) may be positioned below the fifth lens (263). The prism (270) may partially overlap with the fifth lens (263) in the second direction. Furthermore, the prism (270) may not overlap with the fifth lens (263) in some area in the second direction. With this configuration, the prism (270) may transmit light emitted (or transmitted) from the fifth lens (263), and the transmitted light may be incident on the light modulator (280) and reflected back to the projection lens unit (290).

[0153] The prism (270) may include a total internal reflection prism (TIR prism). The prism (270) can change the direction of propagation of light as described above. That is, the prism (270) can perform transmission and reflection of light. Specifically, the prism (270) can transmit light emitted (or transmitted) from the fifth lens (263) and reflect light emitted from the light modulator (280). In addition, the prism (270) can transmit light emitted from the light source unit (220) and reflect light emitted from the light modulator (280). Accordingly, the path of the light can be changed to the first direction or the projection lens unit. By this configuration, miniaturization of the projector device according to the embodiment can be achieved.

[0154] The prism (270) may be placed between the light modulator (280) and the projection lens unit (290). In addition, the prism (270) may be placed between the fifth lens (263) and the light modulator (280).

[0155] The light modulator (280) may be placed at the rear end of the prism (270). The light modulator (280) may emit light transmitted through the prism (270) back to the prism (270).

[0156] The optical modulator (280) can project an image by reflecting incident light. For example, the optical modulator (280) can output or project an image or image based on an image signal incident through the substrate (SB). That is, the optical modulator (280) can modulate the light emitted from the light source (220).

[0157] The optical modulator (280) according to the embodiment may include a digital micromirror device (DMD). The optical modulator (280) may include a plurality of small mirrors. Each mirror may reflect or block light according to a signal (e.g., a digital signal). In other words, the optical modulator (280) may control the state of each mirror based on an image signal applied through the substrate (SB) to project or display an image (or image) corresponding to the image signal. For example, when light is reflected by the control of the mirror, a bright image area may be output, and when light is blocked, a dark image area may be output.

[0158] Additionally, the second direction (Y-axis direction) may correspond to the vertical direction of the upper surface of the optical modulator (280). For example, the optical modulator (280) may have a diagonal length of several inches or less. The optical modulator (280) may have a diagonal length of 0.15" (inch) or more and 2.0" (inch) or less. Accordingly, it can be easily changed to suit miniaturization or the implementation of the size of the image or optical guide device.

[0159] The projection lens unit (290) may be positioned at the rear end of the prism (270). When light emitted from the light modulator (280) is reflected by the prism (270), the light reflected by the prism (270) may be incident on the projection lens unit (290). The light described above may be projected from the projection lens unit (290). The projection lens unit (290) may project the light emitted from the projector device onto a screen or waveguide (or display unit).

[0160] In the embodiment, the projection lens unit (290) can adjust the size of the image so that light is incident within the effective aperture diameter (entrance pupil diameter, EPD) of the waveguide or the like.

[0161] To this end, the projection lens unit (290) according to the embodiment may include a lens barrel (291) and a plurality of lenses (or optical systems) arranged within the lens barrel. The plurality of lenses may be projection lenses. The plurality of projection lenses (L1 to L5) may at least partially overlap the prism (270) in the first direction.

[0162] The blocking member (TP) may be arranged on one outer surface of the housing (210). Accordingly, it may be arranged on the outer surface of each component after each component is accommodated within the housing (210). In an embodiment, it may be arranged on one side of the housing (210) corresponding to a groove of the housing (210). In addition, the blocking member (TP) may cover each component. With this configuration, the blocking member (TP) can easily block foreign substances or external light from entering the components of the housing (210). Accordingly, image projection of an electronic device or a projector can be implemented more accurately.

[0163] Additionally, the project device (200) according to the embodiment may include a substrate (SB), fastening members (SC1, SC2, SC3), and reinforcing plates (ST1, ST2, ST3).

[0164] The substrate (SB) can be electrically connected to the light source unit (220) and the light modulator (280). The light source unit (220) and the light modulator (280) can be placed on the substrate (SB). In addition, the substrate (SB) can be placed in the housing (210). For example, the substrate (SB) can be placed along the outer surface of the housing (210).

[0165] The operation of the optical modulator (280) and the light source unit (220) can be controlled through the substrate (SB). The substrate (SB) can communicate with the control unit of an external device, etc., via wireless or wired means. For example, an external control signal can be transmitted to the projector device through the substrate (SB). The projector device can then output an image based on the transmitted control signal.

[0166] The fastening members (SC1, SC2, SC3) may be arranged on the outside of the substrate (SB). Accordingly, the bonding strength between the substrate (SB), the housing (210), the light source unit (220), and the light modulator (280) may be improved. Furthermore, the substrate (SB) may be arranged on the outside of the housing (210), thereby improving the degree of freedom in assembly or design.

[0167] The reinforcing plates (ST1, ST2, ST3) may be arranged on the outside of the substrate (SB). Furthermore, the reinforcing plates (ST1, ST2, ST3) may be made of various materials such as metal, composite material, resin (plastic), etc. as a stiffener. The reinforcing plates (ST1, ST2, ST3) may be arranged on the outside of the substrate (SB) to improve the rigidity and strength of the substrate (SB) and the housing. For example, they may be arranged on the substrate (SB) corresponding to the positions of the light source unit (220) and the light modulator (280). By this configuration, deformation due to heat generated by the light source unit (220) and the light modulator (280), etc., may be suppressed. Furthermore, the reinforcing plates (ST1, ST2, ST3) may protect the projector device from external impact, etc.

[0168] The fastening members (SC1, SC2, SC3) can penetrate the reinforcing plates (ST1, ST2, ST3).

[0169] For example, the fastening member may include a first fastening member (SC1), a second fastening member (SC2), and a third fastening member (SC3). The reinforcing plate may include a first reinforcing plate (ST1), a second reinforcing plate (ST2), and a third reinforcing plate (ST3).

[0170] The first fastening member (SC1) and the first reinforcing plate (ST1) can be positioned corresponding to the first light source (221). The first fastening member (SC1) and the first reinforcing plate (ST1) can overlap the first light source (221) in the first direction.

[0171] The second fastening member (SC2) and the second reinforcing plate (ST2) can be positioned corresponding to the second light source (222). The second fastening member (SC2) and the second reinforcing plate (ST2) can overlap the second light source (222) in the second direction.

[0172] The third fastening member (SC3) and the third reinforcing plate (ST3) can be positioned corresponding to the optical modulator (280). The third fastening member (SC3) and the third reinforcing plate (ST3) can overlap the optical modulator (280) in the second direction (Y-axis direction).

[0173] And each fastening member can penetrate each reinforcing plate to improve the bonding strength between the substrate and the housing (210). Furthermore, the third fastening member (SC3) can penetrate the optical modulator (280) to improve the bonding strength between the optical modulator (280), the housing (210), and the substrate (SB).

[0174] As a variation, the reinforcing plate may be formed integrally rather than in multiple pieces corresponding to the substrate (SB). That is, the reinforcing plate may have a structure extending from the first light source (221) to the light modulator (280).

[0175] Additionally, the substrates may be positioned corresponding to each light source and light modulator. Furthermore, fastening members may be positioned on each of the multiple substrates. Alternatively, each fastening member may penetrate all of the multiple substrates. Thus, multiple substrates can be joined together using a single fastening member. Accordingly, the number of fastening members may be set to be either odd or even.

[0176] According to an embodiment, one of the plurality of fastening members on the second surface (FIG. 9, 212) of the housing (210) can couple a substrate of a second light source (222), which is one of the light sources (substrate for the second light source), and a substrate of a light modulator (280) (substrate for the light modulator) to the second surface of the housing (210).

[0177] That is, one of the plurality of fastening members can penetrate or fasten both the substrate for the second light source and the substrate for the light modulator. That is, one of the fastening members can penetrate or fasten both the substrate connected to the second light source and the substrate connected to the light modulator. With this configuration, the housing (210) can be fastened to both the substrates of the second light source and the light modulator by the third fastening member (SC3). Accordingly, the reliability of the projector device according to the embodiment can be improved.

[0178] For example, an interposer substrate (see FIG. 14, ISB) may be placed on a substrate (see FIG. 14, SB) described below. The interposer substrate may be an element of the optical modulator (280). In addition, the third fastening member (SC3) may penetrate both the interposer substrate and the substrate. Accordingly, the third fastening member (SC3) may penetrate both the second light source substrate and the optical modulator substrate and be coupled to the second surface of the housing.

[0179] Accordingly, even if the second light source (222) and the light modulator (280) are arranged on the second surface of the housing (210), the number of fastening members (e.g., bolts) coupled to the second surface may be an odd number. Accordingly, the project device according to the embodiment can simultaneously provide compactness and improved reliability.

[0180] Figures 7 and 8 are drawings of a project device according to an embodiment with the housing removed.

[0181] A project device according to an embodiment may include an illuminating system and a projecting system (or a projecting system, a projecting unit, a projection unit, a projection unit, etc.).

[0182] Referring to FIG. 7, the projector device may include an illumination system. According to an embodiment, the illumination system may include a housing (210), a light source unit (220), a first lens unit (230), a second lens unit (240), a second mirror (252), a first mirror (251), a third lens (261), a fourth lens (262), a reflector (253), a fifth lens (263), and a prism (270). That is, light emitted from the prism (270) may be incident on a light modulator (280).

[0183] This lighting system includes a prism (270) as a component, and can receive light from a light source (illumination light) and emit light in a predetermined direction. The illumination light can be transmitted or provided to a light modulator (280) of the projection system.

[0184] Referring further to FIG. 8, the projection system may include a prism (270), a light modulator (280), and a projection lens unit (290). The projection system may include the prism (270) as a component. In an embodiment, the prism (270) may be an element of the illumination system and the projection system.

[0185] Furthermore, the projection system may further include the above-described illumination system. That is, the projection system may modulate illumination light generated in the illumination system through a light modulator (280) and emit or diverge the light in a predetermined direction through a prism (270) and a projection lens unit (290).

[0186] The light modulator (280) reflects the illumination light into patterned light, etc., and the patterned light can pass through the projection lens unit (290) and be output to the outside of the projector device.

[0187] Additionally, an optical folding member may be present between the output of the projector device and the input of the display member (or waveguide, waveguide). The optical folding member may be configured to fold the optical path of the patterned light in at least two different directions. For example, the display member may include a waveguide, and may include a region into which light is input onto the waveguide (e.g., an input diffractive element or an in-coupling grating member), an optical folding member (folding grating member), and a region into which light or an image is output to a user (e.g., an eye) (e.g., an output diffractive element or an out-coupling grating member).

[0188] Fig. 9 is a perspective view of a housing in a project device according to an embodiment, and Fig. 10 is a drawing of Fig. 9 with other components inserted therein.

[0189] Referring to FIGS. 9 and 10, in a project device according to an embodiment, the housing (210) may include a plurality of outer surfaces.

[0190] The housing (210) may include a first side (211), a second side (212), a third side (213), a fourth side (214), a fifth side (215), and a sixth side (216).

[0191] In the housing (210), the first side (211) can be connected to the second side (212), the fourth side (214), the fifth side (215), and the sixth side (216). The second side (212) can be connected to the first side (211), the second side (212), the third side (213), the fifth side (215), and the sixth side (216). The third side (213) can be connected to the second side (212), the third side (213), the fourth side (214), the fifth side (215), and the sixth side (216). The fourth side (214) can be connected to the first side (211), the third side (213), the fourth side (214), the fifth side (215), and the sixth side (216). The fifth side (215) can be connected to the first side (211), the second side (212), the third side (213), the fourth side (214), and the sixth side (216). The sixth side (216) can be connected to the first side (211), the second side (212), the third side (213), and the fourth side (214).

[0192] The first surface (211) can be in contact with the second surface (212). The first surface (211) can correspond to the third surface (213). The second surface (212) can be located between the first surface (211) and the third surface (213). And the second surface (212) can correspond to the fourth surface (214). For example, in the housing, the second surface (212) can face the fourth surface (214). And the fourth surface (214) can be located between the first surface (211) and the third surface (213). In addition, the fifth surface (215) can face the sixth surface (216). The fifth surface (215) can correspond to the sixth surface (216).

[0193] The housing (210) may include a housing groove or groove (210g). The groove (210g) in the housing (210) may have a structure that is open toward the fifth surface (215). Accordingly, a blocking member may be placed on the fifth surface (215). In addition, each component may be accommodated within the groove (210g) of the housing (210) through the opened fifth surface (215). That is, each component of the project device may be assembled through the fifth surface (215).

[0194] Additionally, the first surface (211) may include a first hole (211h). A substrate (SB) is placed on the first surface (211), and an electrical connection between the first light source and the substrate (SB) may be made through the first hole (211h).

[0195] The second surface (212) may include a second hole (212h1) and a third hole (212h2). An electrical connection between the second light source and the substrate (SB) may be established through the second hole (212h1). An electrical connection between the substrate (SB) and the optical modulator may be established through the third hole (212h2).

[0196] The sixth surface (216) may include a fourth hole (216h). Through the fourth hole (216h) of the sixth surface (216), the optical axis alignment (active align) of the projection lens unit and application of a bonding material (e.g., epoxy) can be easily performed. This will be described later.

[0197] An opening (210OP) may be formed on the third surface (213) by a groove (210g). The opening (210OP) of the housing (210) may correspond to the light output section of the projector device. That is, the output light of the projector device may be provided to a waveguide or the like through the opening (210OP) of the housing (210). The opening (210OP) may be located adjacent to the projection lens section.

[0198] Furthermore, the groove (210g) of the housing (210) may have a step. In an embodiment, the length of the groove (210g) of the housing (210) in the Z-axis direction may be greatest in the area corresponding to the projection lens section. With this configuration, the size of the lens in the projection lens section can be easily adjusted.

[0199] Additionally, unlike other components, the region adjacent to the optical modulator on the fifth surface (215) (e.g., the region overlapping in the Z-axis direction) may not be opened. For other components, an opening of a groove (210g) may be formed on the fifth surface.

[0200] As an example, the first light source (221) may be placed on the first surface (211). And the second light source (222) and the light modulator (280) may be placed on the second surface (212).

[0201] The first side (211) (or third side) of the housing (210) can overlap with the light modulator (280) in the first direction (X-axis direction). In addition, the first side (211) (or third side) of the housing (210) can overlap with the light source unit (220), the first lens unit (230), the second lens unit (240), the second mirror (252), the first mirror (251), the third lens (261), the fourth lens (262), the reflector (253), the fifth lens (263), the prism (270), and the projection lens unit (290) in the first direction (X-axis direction).

[0202] In addition, the second side (212) (or the fourth side) may overlap with the light source unit (220), the first lens unit (230), the second lens unit (240), the second mirror (252), the first mirror (251), the third lens (261), the fourth lens (262), the reflector (253), the fifth lens (263), the prism (270), and the projection lens unit (290) in the second direction (Y-axis direction).

[0203] Additionally, in the embodiment, the first side (211) and the second side (212) of the housing (210) may be in contact with each other and form a corner (e.g., edge, corner). Additionally, the second side (212) may also form a corner with the third side (213).

[0204] As described above, the volume of the housing (210) in the project device according to the embodiment may be 3.35 cc or less. For example, the length of the housing (210) in the first direction may be 31 mm to 37 mm. The length of the housing in the second direction may be 13 mm to 18 mm. Furthermore, the length of the housing in the third direction may be 5 mm to 7 mm. By the above or below-described contents, a compact project device with a smaller volume may be provided.

[0205] Additionally, in the embodiment, the second-second lens (242) may not overlap with the fifth lens (263) in the first direction (X-axis direction). In other words, the second-second lens (242) may be arranged to be misaligned with the fifth lens (263) in the first direction (X-axis direction).

[0206] Additionally, at least a portion of the second-1 lens (241) may not overlap (or be displaced) with the prism (270) and the projection lens unit (290) in the first direction (X-axis direction). In other words, at least a portion of the second-1 lens (241) may be positioned misaligned with the prism (270) and the projection lens unit (290) in the first direction (X-axis direction).

[0207] By this configuration, it is possible to easily secure space for arranging the optical modulator and prism within a small-volume project device.

[0208] In addition, at least a portion of the light modulator (280) may overlap with the second-1 lens (241). For example, the light modulator (280) may overlap at least a portion of the second-1 lens (241) in the first direction (X-axis direction). Accordingly, the second light source and the light modulator may be placed on the substrate (SB) placed on the second surface (212), thereby ensuring ease of assembly, etc.

[0209] The projection lens unit (290) may not overlap (or be superimposed) with the second-1 lens (241) in the first direction (X-axis direction). In other words, the projection lens unit (290) may be arranged to be misaligned with the second-1 lens (241) in the first direction (X-axis direction).

[0210] Additionally, the fifth lens (263) may not overlap (or superimpose) with the second-first lens (241) in the first direction (X-axis direction). In other words, the fifth lens (263) may be arranged to be misaligned with the second-first lens (241) in the first direction (X-axis direction).

[0211] And at least a portion of the fifth lens (263) may overlap with the fourth lens (262) in the second direction (Y-axis direction). In addition, the fifth lens (263) may overlap with the fourth lens (262) at least a portion in the first direction (X-axis direction).

[0212] Additionally, according to an embodiment, the third lens (261) and the second-second lens (242) may not overlap (or superimpose) in the first direction (X-axis direction). In other words, the third lens (261) and the second-second lens (242) may be arranged to be misaligned in the first direction (X-axis direction).

[0213] By this configuration, the volume of the housing (210) can be minimized, thereby making the electronic device compact.

[0214] FIG. 11 is a perspective view of a project device according to an embodiment with the tape removed, FIG. 12 is a perspective view of a project device according to an embodiment with the tape separated, FIG. 13a is a cross-sectional view of a project device according to an embodiment, FIG. 13b is another example of FIG. 13a, and FIG. 14 is an exploded perspective view of a light source unit in a project device according to an embodiment.

[0215] Referring to FIGS. 11 to 13A, in a project device according to an embodiment, a substrate (SB) may be placed on a surface (or surface) of an outer surface of a housing (210) where a first light source, a second light source, and a light modulator are placed. In addition, the substrate (SB) may also be placed on a surface where a first light source, a second light source, and a light modulator are not placed.

[0216] In an embodiment, the substrate (SB) may include a first sub-substrate (SB1), a second sub-substrate (SB2), and a third sub-substrate (SB3). The first sub-substrate (SB1) may be disposed on a first surface (211) of the housing (210). The first sub-substrate (SB1) may be electrically connected to a first light source. The second sub-substrate (SB2) may be disposed on a second surface (212). The second sub-substrate (SB2) may be electrically connected to a second light source.

[0217] The first sub-substrate (SB1) may be configured as a separate or integral structure from the second sub-substrate (SB2). The second sub-substrate (SB2) may have a structure extending in the first direction from one end of the first sub-substrate (SB1).

[0218] The third sub-substrate (SB3) may be placed on the sixth surface (216). The third sub-substrate (SB3) may have a structure in which the second sub-substrate (SB2) extends from one side in a third direction. Accordingly, the bonding strength between the substrate (SB) and the housing may be improved. Furthermore, heat dissipation through the substrate (SB) may also be facilitated.

[0219] In addition, the fourth hole (216h) of the sixth surface (216) may be at least one. For example, when there are multiple fourth holes (216h), they may be sequentially arranged along the first direction. The fourth hole (216h) may overlap with the projection lens unit (290) in the third direction. Accordingly, the bonding material (e.g., epoxy) introduced into the fourth hole (216h) may be evenly spread over the projection lens unit (290). In addition, before applying the bonding material, the projection lens unit (290) may be moved along the first direction as described above. For example, the movement of the projection lens unit (290) may be performed using a gripper.

[0220] Additionally, the blocking member (TP) may be placed on the fifth surface (215). The blocking member (TP) may be larger than the opening of the fifth surface corresponding to the groove (210g) of the housing (210).

[0221] Furthermore, the blocking member (TP) may have a structure that is bent or extended to the sixth surface (216). Accordingly, the blocking member (TP) may cover the components within the housing (210). Accordingly, unnecessary light may be prevented from entering an area other than the lens of the projection lens unit (290) through the opening (210OP) on the sixth surface (216). In addition, the blocking member (TP) may include a member hole (TPh) arranged in an area corresponding to the sixth surface (216). Through the member hole (TPh), the output light of the projection lens unit (290) or the projector device may be provided to a waveguide or the like.

[0222] Referring further to Fig. 13b, the second light source and the second lens unit (240) can be overlapped with the light modulator (280) in the first direction. At this time, miniaturization of the projector device can be achieved as described above.

[0223] In addition, the second light source and the second lens unit (240) may not overlap at least partially with the light modulator (280) in the first direction. The second light source and the second lens unit (240) may be spaced apart from the light modulator (280) in the second direction. This improves the degree of design freedom for each component, and improves optical performance more easily. Furthermore, as described below, the lens unit, the first mirror (251), the second mirror (252), the third lens (261), the fourth lens (262), the reflector (253), and the fifth lens (263) may be arranged at an angle with respect to the first direction, thereby facilitating miniaturization of the projector device.

[0224] In addition, the second light source and the second lens unit (240) may overlap with the prism (270) in the first direction. In addition, the second light source and the second lens unit (240) may overlap with the projection lens unit in the first direction. In addition, at least a portion of the second light source and the second lens unit (240) may overlap with the fifth lens (263) in the first direction. For example, in the second lens unit (240), both the second-1 lens (241) and the second-2 lens (242) may overlap with the fifth lens (263) in the first direction.

[0225] Referring to FIG. 14, the optical modulator (280) may include a DMD as described above. Furthermore, it may be connected to a second sub-substrate (SB) on the substrate. The optical modulator (280) may further include an interposer substrate (ISB). An interposer substrate (ISB) may be further arranged between the second sub-substrate (SB2) and the DMD. By this configuration, an improved input / output count is achieved between the DMD and the substrate, and electrical connection to the trace can be easily achieved. The substrate (SB) and the DMD may be electrically connected by SMT, etc. Furthermore, the substrate (SB) may be coupled to the housing (210) by a bonding member (e.g., epoxy), etc.

[0226] As a variant, the DMD can be connected to the substrate (SB) without an interposer substrate. Without an interposer substrate, screw connections can be eliminated. This can improve the mass production of project devices.

[0227] FIG. 15 is a partially enlarged view of a projector device according to an embodiment, FIG. 16 is a drawing showing a ray from a prism and a projection lens unit in a projector device according to an embodiment, FIGS. 17 and 18 are drawings explaining an image position according to an emission direction toward a light guide device in a projector device, and FIGS. 19 to 21 are plan views of a ray and a projection lens in cross-sectional views of a prism and a projection lens unit according to various examples.

[0228] Referring to FIG. 15, the optical system of the projection system in the projector device according to the embodiment may include a prism (270), a light modulator (280), and a projection lens unit (290). In addition, the projection lens unit (290) in the present embodiment may include a plurality of lenses. For example, the projection lens unit (290) may include a first projection lens (L1), a second projection lens (L2), a third projection lens (L3), a fourth projection lens (L4), and a fifth projection lens (L5) that are sequentially arranged along an optical axis. The first projection lens (L1) may be positioned closest to the prism (270) (or the light modulator) among the plurality of projection lenses of the projection lens unit (290). Furthermore, the fifth projection lens (L5) may be positioned at the rearmost end among the plurality of projection lenses and may be positioned closest to the exit surface (or exit side) of the projector device or the projection lens unit. In addition, the light modulator (280) may further include a cover glass (CG) before the light incident surface. The cover glass (CG) may prevent foreign substances from entering the effective area of the light modulator (280).

[0229] Furthermore, in the description of the present invention, the "exit surface side" may mean a direction or surface facing an aperture or stop in a projection lens with respect to the optical axis (OA). Accordingly, the exit surface side may correspond to a direction or surface facing a projection lens unit from a prism (270) (or optical modulator). And the "optical modulator side" may mean a direction or surface facing a optical modulator (280) with respect to the optical axis. For example, the optical modulator side may correspond to a direction or surface facing a prism (270) (or optical modulator) from a projection lens unit (290). In addition, a convex surface of a projection lens may mean a convex shape in an optical axis or a paraxial region, and a concave surface of a lens may mean a concave shape in an optical axis or a paraxial region. In addition, a convex shape toward the exit surface side may mean a concave shape toward the light modulator side. In addition, the radius of curvature, center thickness, and optical axis spacing between lenses described in the table for lens data may mean values (unit: mm) on the optical axis. Hereinafter, the vertical direction may mean a direction perpendicular to the optical axis, and the end of the lens or lens surface may mean the end of the effective area of the lens through which the incident light passes. The size of the effective diameter of the lens surface may have a measurement error of up to ±0.4 mm depending on the measurement method, etc. The paraxial area means a very narrow area near the optical axis, and is an area where the distance that a light ray falls from the optical axis (OA) is almost 0. Hereinafter, the optical axis may include the center of each lens or a very narrow area near the optical axis. In addition, each of the projection lenses may include an effective area and an ineffective area. The effective area may be an area through which light incident on each of the projection lenses passes. That is, the effective area can be defined as the effective area or effective diameter in which incident light is refracted to implement optical properties. The ineffective area can be arranged around the perimeter of the effective area. The ineffective area may be an area where effective light is not incident from multiple projection lenses. In other words, the ineffective area may be an area unrelated to optical characteristics. Furthermore, the end of the ineffective area may be an area fixed to a lens barrel (not shown) that accommodates the lens.

[0230] Furthermore, the following is a description of the projection system, and structures other than those described above can also be applied to the lighting system.

[0231] In addition, in the embodiment, the optical axis of the projection lens unit (290) may be the first axis (AX1). And the optical axis with respect to the upper surface of the light modulator (280) may be the second axis (AX2). The second axis (AX2) may be a vertical axis with respect to the effective area of the light modulator (280). In addition, the second axis (AX2) may correspond to the central axis in the effective area. The third axis (AX3) may be the optical axis of light modulated in the light modulator (280). In addition, the third axis (AX3) may be the central axis of light (or image) reflected from the prism (270). In addition, the third axis (AX3) may be the optical axis with respect to the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270). In addition, the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) is the exit surface (OS) for light reflected from the light modulator (280), and may be a surface adjacent to the projection lens unit (290). For example, the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) may be a surface facing the first projection lens (L1) or the projection lens unit (290).

[0232] And the first axis (AX1) and the third axis (AX3) can be parallel. In addition, the first axis (AX1) and the third axis (AX3) can be parallel to the first direction (X-axis direction). However, the first axis (AX1) and the third axis (AX3) can be spaced apart from each other in the second direction (Y-axis direction) or the third direction. The second direction can be a vertical direction. Hereinafter, the first axis (AX1) and the third axis (AX3) are described as being spaced apart in the second direction (Y-axis direction). However, as described above, the first axis (AX1) and the third axis (AX3) can also be spaced apart in the third direction.

[0233] In other words, the first axis (AX1) and the third axis (AX3) can be parallel and spaced apart from each other. The first axis (AX1) and the third axis (AX3) can be spaced apart along the second axis (AX2). And the second axis (AX2) can be perpendicular to the first axis (AX1) and the third axis (AX3). By this configuration, the light emitted from the projector device can be tilted at a predetermined angle. In other words, the center of the image emitted from the projector device (or the projection lens unit) can be tilted at a predetermined angle with respect to the first axis (AX1), etc. For example, the light emitted from the projector device can be tilted in the range of 0 to 20 degrees about the first direction or the first axis and be incident on the light guide. The light can be tilted in the second direction and the third direction perpendicular to the first direction. That is, the light emitted from the projector device can be tilted at a predetermined angle based on the first direction (X-axis direction) or the first axis (or the third axis) and be incident on the light guide unit. Accordingly, when the light emitted from the projector device (or projection lens unit) is transmitted to the user (e.g., the eye) through the display unit (e.g., the waveguide), the angular difference according to the position of the waveguide and the projector device in the display unit can be compensated. That is, the tilt of the projector device may occur due to the pantoscopic angle and wrap angle according to the electronic device (e.g., AR glasses) worn by the user. At this time, the projector device according to the embodiment can accurately provide light to the waveguide of the display unit only by separating the first axis (AX1) and the third axis (AX3) in the second direction without tilting an additional prism or component (e.g., the projector device, etc.). That is, although tilting of the light emitted from the projector device is required depending on the shape of the waveguide, the light can be accurately transmitted to the waveguide only by adjusting the positions of the first and third axes without any additional member (prism) for tilting the projector device or changing the light path. Thus, the project device according to the embodiment can effectively provide easy miniaturization and accurate light transmission.

[0234] For example, when the distance between the first axis (AX1) and the third axis (AX3) increases, the projection lens unit can output an image so that the angle formed based on the first axis (AX1) (or the first direction) increases. For example, the distance between the first axis (AX1) and the third axis (AX3) may be within 1.3 mm. Accordingly, the field of view (FOV) of the projector device or the projection lens unit (290) can be within a range of 40 degrees. Preferably, the field of view (FOV) of the projector device or the projection lens unit (290) can be within 30 degrees.

[0235] In addition, the light modulated in the light modulator (280) may be reflected from the reflection surface (RS) of the prism (270) and transmitted through the exit surface (OS) to be emitted to the projection lens unit (290). At this time, the light modulated in the light modulator (280) may be incident on either the upper or lower portion of the projection lens unit (290). For example, the upper and lower portions of the projection lens unit (290) may be regions divided in the vertical direction or the second direction (Y-axis direction). For example, the light modulated in the light modulator (280) may be incident on the lower portion of the projection lens unit (290). The lower portion of the projection lens unit (290) may be an area adjacent to the light modulator (280) in an area bisected in the vertical direction or the second direction (Y-axis direction) by the projection lens unit (290).

[0236] In addition, the projection lens unit (290) may have a length (W1) in the vertical direction or the second direction (Y-axis direction) that is different from the length (W2) in the vertical direction or the second direction (Y-axis direction) of the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270). For example, the projection lens unit (290) may have a length (W1) in the vertical direction or the second direction (Y-axis direction) that is greater than the length (W2) in the vertical direction or the second direction (Y-axis direction) of the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270). In addition, the projection lens unit (290) may have a length (W1) in the vertical direction or the second direction (Y-axis direction) that is less than the length (W2) in the vertical direction or the second direction (Y-axis direction) of the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270).

[0237] For example, the length (W1) in the vertical direction or the second direction (Y-axis direction) of the projection lens unit (290) may be 0.5 to 1.5 times the length (W2) in the vertical direction or the second direction (Y-axis direction) of the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270).

[0238] In addition, when the light modulator (280) moves in the first direction (X-axis direction), the length (W1) in the vertical direction or the second direction (Y-axis direction) of the projection lens unit (290) may be smaller than the length (W2) in the vertical direction or the second direction (Y-axis direction) of the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270). However, even without such movement, the length relationship between the projection lens unit and the prism described above may be formed. In addition, the length (W1) in the vertical direction or the second direction (Y-axis direction) of the projection lens unit (290) may be larger than the length (W2) in the vertical direction or the second direction (Y-axis direction) of the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270).

[0239] Accordingly, the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) may overlap with the projection lens unit (290) in the first direction (X-axis direction). In addition, the projection lens unit (290) may overlap with the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) in the first direction (X-axis direction). Furthermore, at least a portion of the projection lens unit (290) may not overlap with the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) in the first direction (X-axis direction). In particular, a portion of the first projection lens (L1) closest to the prism (270) may not overlap with the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) for the modulated light in the exit direction or the first direction (X-axis direction). In other words, the first projection lens (L1) closest to the prism (270) may be at least partially misaligned with the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) in the exit direction or the first direction (X-axis direction). And the first projection lens (L1) may at least partially overlap with the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) for the modulated light. Accordingly, the modulated light reflected from the reflection surface (RS) of the prism (270) and transmitted through the exit surface (OS) may be incident on a part of the first projection lens (L1).

[0240] Referring further to FIG. 16, the first projection lens (L1) may allow modulated light transmitted through the exit surface (OS) to be incident on some areas. Furthermore, the light modulated by the light modulator (280) may also be transmitted through some areas of the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270). In the drawing, the light modulator (280) and the prism (270) are spaced apart in the second direction, and the light reflected by the prism (270) is provided to the projection lens unit (290), so that the projection lens unit (290) and the prism (270) may be spaced apart in the first direction (X-axis direction). However, in the drawing, in order to illustrate the light path, the light modulator (280), the prism (270), and the projection lens unit (290) are illustrated as being arranged in one direction in consideration of the light path. Furthermore, the length in the second direction is also shown corresponding to the first lens, but in the present invention, as described above, the length of the first lens (or projection lens unit) may be different in the second direction (Y-axis direction) with respect to the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270).

[0241] The first projection lens (L1) (or projection lens unit) may include an upper region (NUA) and a lower region (UA) that are partitioned in the vertical direction or the second direction. The lower region (UA) may be adjacent to the light modulator (280). The lower region (UA) may overlap with the prism (270) in the first direction, and may be an region where light emitted from the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) is incident. The upper region (NUA) may not overlap with the prism (270) in the first direction (X-axis direction). And, it may be an region where light emitted from the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) is not incident. This upper region (NUA) is an region that does not overlap with the prism (270) and may be an region where modulated light does not pass. Accordingly, the upper region (NUA) may be an ineffective region with respect to light. As described below, the removal of the upper area (NUA), which is an ineffective area, may also be applied. For example, the upper area (NUA) may be outside the effective diameter of the first projection lens (L1) of the projection lens unit (290). Thus, by using only one side of the projection lens in the projection lens unit (290), the size of the projection lens unit can be easily reduced through cutting, etc. Accordingly, miniaturization of the circuit board according to the embodiment can be realized.

[0242] In addition, the upper region (NUA) and the lower region (UA) may have different overlapping areas with the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270). For example, one of the upper region (NUA) and the lower region (UA) may have a larger overlapping area with the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) in the exit direction or the first direction (X-axis direction) than the other. For example, the area of the upper region (NUA) overlapping with the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) in the exit direction or the first direction (X-axis direction) may be larger than the area of the lower region (UA) overlapping with the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) in the exit direction or the first direction (X-axis direction). In this case, the distance between the center of the modulated light or image (e.g., the third axis) and the center of the projection lens unit (e.g., the first axis) may increase, thereby increasing the tilt angle described above. For example, the central axis of light emitted to the outside may have a predetermined angle (θA) based on the optical axis of the projection lens unit or the central axis (OX) of the image. That is, light emitted from the projector device may be tilted and emitted at a predetermined angle (θA).

[0243] And the first projection lens (L1) (or projection lens unit) may have a different size from the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) for the modulated light. That is, the area on a plane perpendicular to the first direction (X-axis direction) of the first projection lens (L1) and the area on a plane perpendicular to the first direction (X-axis direction) of the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) may be different from each other.

[0244] Additionally, the area where the upper region (NUA) overlaps the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) in the exit direction or the first direction (X-axis direction) may be smaller than the area where the lower region (UA) overlaps the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) in the exit direction or the first direction (X-axis direction). In this case, the distance between the center of the modulated light or image (e.g., the third axis) and the center of the projection lens unit (e.g., the first axis) may increase, thereby reducing the aforementioned tilt angle.

[0245] In addition, as described above, the structure of the lighting system can be changed. Based on this structure, at least one of the first lens unit (230), the second lens unit (240), the second mirror (252), the first mirror (251), the third lens (261), the fourth lens (262), and the reflector (253) can overlap with at least a portion of the projection lens unit (290) without overlapping with the prism (270) in the first direction (X-axis direction) or the output direction.

[0246] Referring to Fig. 17, the first axis (AX1) and the third axis (AX3) may overlap in the projector device. Here, the light emitted from the projector device (200) or the projection lens unit (290) may have its center positioned at (0, 0) in the image plane (XY in the figure) as illustrated. Here, (0, 0) may be a coordinate on the image plane located in the first direction (X-axis direction) or the emission direction with respect to the projector device (200) or the projection lens unit (290). The image plane may be an image that captures the emitted light.

[0247] Referring to FIG. 18, in the projector device according to the embodiment, the first axis (AX1) and the third axis (AX3) may be spaced apart from each other. At this time, the light emitted from the projector device (200) or the projection lens unit (290) may not have its center positioned at (0, 0) in the image plane (XY in the figure) as illustrated. The light (or image) emitted from the projector device (200) or the projection lens unit (290) may be tilted and output based on the first direction (X-axis direction). For example, the center of the light emitted from the image plane (XY) may be shifted (SHB) to the X coordinate and may also be shifted (SHA) to the Y coordinate. In this way, the center of the light or image emitted from the projection lens unit (290) may be tilted in the range of 0 to 20 degrees with respect to the first axis (AX1).

[0248] In addition, the projector device according to the embodiment may further include a driving unit such as an actuator. The driving unit may be disposed on the projection lens unit, the prism, or the light modulator to move the projection lens unit, the prism, or the light modulator in a predetermined direction (e.g., a second direction or a first direction). Accordingly, the image output angle may be adjusted according to the user or the tilt angle. Accordingly, the structure or shape of the frame may be changed according to the user. Accordingly, the output direction of the projector device may be easily changed according to the user. In addition, light may be provided according to the position, shape, tolerance, etc. of the input diffraction element of the display unit without adding a tilt or prism of the projector device.

[0249] For example, light emitted from the projector device can be tilted in a range of 0 to 20 degrees about a first direction or a first axis and then incident on the light guide.

[0250] Referring to FIGS. 19 to 21, in a projector device according to an embodiment, a projection lens unit may be formed asymmetrically with respect to a first axis. The projection lens unit includes a plurality of lenses, and at least some of the plurality of lenses may be formed asymmetrically with respect to the first axis. Hereinafter, the projection lens unit (290) will be described based on the assumption that it includes a first projection lens (L1), a second projection lens (L2), a third projection lens (L3), a fourth projection lens (L4), and a fifth projection lens (L5) that are sequentially arranged along an optical axis with a plurality of lenses.

[0251] In each drawing, (a) is a cross-sectional view on the XY plane, and (b) is a planar (YZ) view for the first projection lens.

[0252] First, referring to FIG. 19, at least one lens in the projection lens unit (290) may have an area (hereinafter, referred to as a non-effective area) through which light emitted from the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) is not transmitted. Here, the upper area (NUA) may be the non-effective area. Accordingly, a plurality of lenses in the projection lens unit according to the embodiment may have a shape in which an area corresponding to the non-effective area is removed or cut. As illustrated, the first projection lens may have a shape in which a portion of the area is removed from the plane (YZ). The first projection lens may have a lower area removed in the drawing from the plane (YZ). For example, the first projection lens may have a D-cut shape.

[0253] In addition, the non-effective area of each of the plurality of projection lenses in the projection lens unit (290) may not be the same in the first direction (X-axis direction) or the exit direction. In other words, the non-effective area of each projection lens may not overlap at least partially in the first direction (X-axis direction) or the exit direction. For example, the non-effective area of the first projection lens (L1) may have a different area compared to the non-effective area of the second projection lens (L2). In addition, the non-effective area of the first projection lens (L1) may not overlap at least partially in the first direction with the non-effective area of the second projection lens (L2). This allows for cost reduction and miniaturization of the projector device.

[0254] Referring to Fig. 20, the first axis and the third axis may be spaced apart from each other in the first direction without overlapping. As described above, at least one lens in the projection lens unit (290) may have an area (hereinafter, a non-effective area) through which light emitted from the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) is not transmitted.

[0255] Here, the non-effective area may be such that each lens has a plurality of regions segmented along the third direction, and one region among the multiple regions segmented may correspond to the non-effective area. Accordingly, the plurality of lenses of the projection lens unit according to the embodiment may have a shape in which a region corresponding to the non-effective area is removed or cut. As illustrated, the first projection lens may have a shape in which a portion of the region is removed from the plane (YZ). The first projection lens may have a region on the right side of the drawing removed from the plane (YZ). In addition, the first projection lens may have a D-cut shape.

[0256] In addition, the non-effective area of each projection lens in the projection lens unit (290) may not be the same in the first direction (X-axis direction) or the exit direction. In other words, the non-effective area of each projection lens may not overlap at least partially in the first direction (X-axis direction) or the exit direction. For example, the non-effective area of the first projection lens (L1) may have a different area compared to the non-effective area of the second projection lens (L2). In addition, the non-effective area of the first projection lens (L1) may not overlap at least partially with the non-effective area of the second projection lens (L2) in the first direction.

[0257] Referring to Fig. 21, the first axis and the third axis may be spaced apart from each other in the first direction. In particular, the first axis and the third axis may be spaced apart in both the second direction and the third direction. In addition, at least one lens in the projection lens unit (290) may have an area (hereinafter, “non-effective area”) through which light emitted from the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) is not transmitted.

[0258] Here, the non-effective area may be such that each lens has multiple areas divided based on the second direction and the third direction, and one area among the multiple areas divided may correspond to the non-effective area. Accordingly, the multiple lenses of the projection lens unit according to the embodiment may have a shape in which an area corresponding to the non-effective area is removed or cut. As illustrated, the first projection lens may have a shape in which a portion of the area is removed from the plane (YZ). The first projection lens may be removed from all quadrants in the drawing on the plane (YZ) except for the second quadrant.

[0259] In addition, in the projection lens unit (290), the non-effective area of each of the plurality of projection lenses may not be the same in the first direction (X-axis direction) or the exit direction. For example, the first projection lens (L1) may have a shape in which the second quadrant is removed, but the second projection lens (L2) may have a shape including the third quadrant or a part of the first quadrant in addition to the second quadrant.

[0260] Fig. 22 is a cross-sectional view of a project device according to another embodiment, and Fig. 23 is an enlarged view of a portion of Fig. 22.

[0261] A projector device according to another embodiment may include a housing (210), a light source unit (220), a first lens unit (230), a second lens unit (240), a second mirror (252), a first mirror (251), a third lens (261), a fourth lens (262), a reflector (253), a fifth lens (263), a prism (270), a light modulator (280), a projection lens unit (290), and a blocking member (TP). Except for the contents described below, the above-described contents may be applied.

[0262] In this example, the first axis (AX1) may be spaced apart from the third axis (AX3) in the second direction (Y-axis direction) or along the second axis. In particular, the third axis (AX3) may be located on the second direction (Y-axis direction) side from the first axis (AX1).

[0263] Additionally, the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270) may not overlap at least partly with the projection lens unit (290) in the first direction (X-axis direction) or the exit direction.

[0264] The projection lens unit (290) may have a length (W1') in the vertical direction or the second direction (Y-axis direction) that is different from the length (W2') in the vertical direction or the second direction (Y-axis direction) of the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270). For example, the projection lens unit (290) may have a length (W1') in the vertical direction or the second direction (Y-axis direction) that is smaller than the length (W2') in the vertical direction or the second direction (Y-axis direction) of the exit surface (OS) of the prism (270).

[0265] At this time, light may be emitted from some areas within the effective area of the optical modulator (280). Alternatively, the optical modulator (280) may not be controlled by the reflective mirror in some areas. For example, light reflection may not occur in some areas within the effective area of the emission surface of the optical modulator (280). As a result, optical tilting can be more easily implemented through the control of the optical modulator (280).

[0266] Alternatively, a portion of the light or image emitted from the effective area of the optical modulator (280) may be provided to the user. This improves driving efficiency and enables miniaturization and weight reduction of the projector device.

[0267] Fig. 24 is a cross-sectional view of a project device according to another embodiment, and Fig. 25 is an enlarged view of a portion of Fig. 24.

[0268] According to another embodiment, a projector device may include a housing (210), a light source unit (220), a first lens unit (230), a second lens unit (240), a second mirror (252), a first mirror (251), a third lens (261), a fourth lens (262), a reflector (253), a fifth lens (263), a prism (270), a light modulator (280), a projection lens unit (290), and a blocking member (TP). Except for the contents described below, the above-described contents may be applied.

[0269] In this example, the first axis (AX1) and the third axis (AX3) may be the same axis. For example, the first axis (AX1) and the third axis (AX3) may overlap in the first direction. In addition, the optical modulator (280) may be shifted in the first direction (X-axis direction) compared to other embodiments.

[0270] In the present embodiment, the optical modulator (280) may overlap with the prism (270) in the second direction (Y-axis direction). In addition, at least a portion of the optical modulator (280) may overlap with the projection lens unit (290) in the second direction (Y-axis direction). For example, at least a portion of the plurality of lenses of the projection lens unit (290) may overlap with the optical modulator (280) in the second direction (Y-axis direction). The first lens (L1), the second lens (L2), and the third lens (L3) may overlap with the optical modulator (280) in the second direction (Y-axis direction). In particular, at least a portion of the effective area of the optical modulator (280) may overlap with the projection lens unit (290) in the second direction.

[0271] As a variation, the optical modulator (280) may be shifted in the opposite direction to the first direction. Accordingly, the optical modulator (280) may not overlap with the projection lens unit (290) in the second direction (Y-axis direction).

[0272] In this way, when the optical modulator (280) is shifted in the first direction (X-axis direction), the second axis (AX2') can also be shifted along the first direction (X-axis direction). And the contact point between the reflective surface (RS) of the prism (270) and the second axis (AX2') can be changed by the second axis (AX2').

[0273] As a result, the light emitted from the projector device can be tilted around the first axis (AX1) as described above.

[0274] FIG. 26 is a cross-sectional view showing an optical system of a projection system in a project device according to an embodiment, FIG. 27 is a graph showing data on aberration characteristics of an optical system of a projection system in a project device according to an embodiment, and FIG. 28 is a graph showing data on a diffraction MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) of an optical system of a projection system in a project device according to an embodiment.

[0275] Referring to FIG. 26, the first projection lens (L1) according to the embodiment may include a tenth surface (S10) which is a light modulator-side surface and a ninth surface (S9) which is an exit surface-side surface. The tenth surface (S10) may face a prism (270) (an exit surface of the prism). Alternatively, the projection lens portion may face the exit surface of the prism.

[0276] The second projection lens (L2) may include an eighth surface (S8) which is a light modulator-side surface and a seventh surface (S7) which is an output-side surface. The eighth surface (S8) may face the ninth surface (S9).

[0277] The third projection lens (L3) may include a sixth surface (S6) which is a light modulator-side surface and a fifth surface (S5) which is an output-side surface. The sixth surface (S6) may face the seventh surface (S7).

[0278] The fourth projection lens (L4) may include a fourth surface (S4) which is a light modulator-side surface and a third surface (S3) which is an output-side surface. The fourth surface (S4) may face the fifth surface (S5).

[0279] The fifth projection lens (L5) may include a second surface (S2) which is a light modulator-side surface and a first surface (S1) which is an output-side surface. The second surface (S2) may face the third surface (S3). And the first surface (S1) may be adjacent to a stop or closest to the output side.

[0280] Below, Table 1 shows the power, focal length, curvature, Abbe number, center thickness, separation distance (center spacing of projection lenses), etc. of the components of the optical system of the projection system in the projector device according to the embodiment.

[0290] Specifically, the aperture or stop may be spaced apart from the exit surface side of the fifth projection lens (L5). The stop may be located at the entrance surface or entrance area of an external display unit or light guide device. An entrance portion of a waveguide of the display unit or the like exists at the stop, and the size of the exit surface of the projector device may be 3 mm (tolerance 50 um). In addition, the entrance surface of the waveguide of the display unit may be larger than the exit surface of the projector device. With this configuration, a virtual image generated can be easily provided to the user without optical loss. In addition, the stop in the projection system may be spaced apart from the exit surface of the fifth projection lens (L5) closest to the stop by 1 mm to 5 mm. By this configuration, the assembly and arrangement between the display unit including the projector device and the waveguide, etc. can be easily performed. The fifth projection lens (L5) can have positive (+) or negative (-) refractive power in the optical axis (OA). The fifth projection lens (L5) can have negative (-) refractive power. The fifth projection lens (L5) can include a plastic or glass material. For example, the fifth projection lens (L5) can be provided as a glass material.

[0291] In addition, with respect to the optical axis (OA), the first surface (S1) on the exit surface side of the fifth projection lens (L5) may be convex, and the second surface (S2) on the light modulator side may be concave. That is, the first surface (S1) may be convex (or concave) toward the exit surface side (or the light modulator side). The second surface (S2) may be concave (or convex) toward the exit surface side (or the light modulator side). With this configuration, the emitted light may be refracted to reduce the effective diameter.

[0292] The fourth projection lens (L4) may have positive (+) or negative (-) refractive power on the optical axis (OA). The fourth projection lens (L4) may have positive (+) refractive power. The fourth projection lens (L4) may include a plastic or glass material. For example, the fourth projection lens (L4) may be provided as a plastic material.

[0293] In addition, with respect to the optical axis (OA), the third surface (S3) on the exit surface side of the fourth projection lens (L4) may be concave, and the fourth surface (S4) on the light modulator side may be convex. That is, the third surface (S3) may be concave (or convex) toward the exit surface side (or the light modulator side). The fourth surface (S4) may be convex (or concave) toward the exit surface side (or the light modulator side). With this configuration, light can be refracted in a direction away from the optical axis, and the effective diameter can be reduced while reducing the distance between lenses.

[0294] The third projection lens (L3) may have positive (+) or negative (-) refractive power on the optical axis (OA). The third projection lens (L3) may have positive (+) refractive power. The third projection lens (L3) may include a plastic or glass material. For example, the third projection lens (L3) may be provided as a glass material.

[0295] In addition, the third projection lens (L3) may have a fifth surface (S5) on the exit surface side and a sixth surface (S6) on the light modulator side concave with respect to the optical axis (OA). That is, the fifth surface (S5) may be concave (or convex) toward the exit surface side (or the light modulator side). The sixth surface (S6) may be concave (or convex) toward the exit surface side (or the light modulator side).

[0296] The third projection lens (L3) may be an aspherical lens. For example, the third projection lens (L3) may have aspherical surfaces on the exit side and the light modulator side. This configuration can satisfy thermal compensation and improve optical performance.

[0297] The second projection lens (L2) may have positive (+) or negative (-) refractive power on the optical axis (OA). The second projection lens (L2) may have positive (+) refractive power. The second projection lens (L2) may include a plastic or glass material. For example, the second projection lens (L2) may be provided with a plastic material.

[0298] In addition, the seventh surface (S7) on the exit surface side of the second projection lens (L2) with respect to the optical axis (OA) may be convex, and the eighth surface (S9) on the optical modulator side may be concave. That is, the seventh surface (S7) may be convex (or concave) toward the exit surface side (or optical modulator side). The eighth surface (S9) may be concave (or convex) toward the exit surface side (or optical modulator side).

[0299] The second projection lens (L2) may be an aspherical lens. For example, the second projection lens (L2) may have aspherical surfaces on the emission side and the light modulator side. With this configuration, thermal compensation can be satisfied and optical performance can be improved.

[0300] The first projection lens (L1) may have positive (+) or negative (-) refractive power on the optical axis (OA). The first projection lens (L1) may have negative (-) refractive power. The first projection lens (L1) may include a plastic or glass material. For example, the first projection lens (L1) may be provided as a plastic material.

[0301] In addition, with respect to the optical axis (OA), the ninth surface (S9) on the exit surface side of the first projection lens (L1) may be concave, and the tenth surface (S10) on the light modulator side may be concave. And the ninth surface (S9) may be concave (or convex) toward the exit surface side (or the light modulator side). The tenth surface (S10) may be concave (or convex) toward the exit surface side (or the light modulator side). By this configuration, light may be refracted so that the effective diameter of light emitted from the prism (270) with the tenth surface (S10) as the starting point may be reduced.

[0302] The prism (270) may have an incident surface and an exit surface in the illumination system. And the prism (270) may have an incident surface and an exit surface in the projection system. The exit surface of the prism (270) in the illumination system and the incident surface of the prism (270) in the projection system may be the same. And the reflective surface of the prism (270) in the projection system may correspond to the incident surface of the prism (270) in the illumination system. And the incident surface of the prism (270) in the illumination system may converge the axis of the light provided from the light modulator (280) to the center of the projection lens unit (290). Accordingly, the effective diameter can be minimized. Furthermore, the miniaturization of the projector device can be realized.

[0303] Additionally, the incident surface of the prism (270) in the projection system may be the incident surface for light provided from the light modulator (280). As described above, the incident surface of the prism (270) in the projection system may have a smaller effective diameter than the exit surface (or exit side surface).

[0304] Additionally, the exit surface side or third surface (S3) of the fourth projection lens (L4) may have the largest (absolute value) radius of curvature among the first projection lens (L1) to the fifth projection lens (L5). And the tenth surface (S10) of the first projection lens (L1) may have the smallest (absolute value) radius of curvature among the first projection lens (L1) to the fifth projection lens (L5).

[0305] Additionally, the fourth projection lens (L4) may have a larger radius of curvature (absolute value) on each side than the fifth projection lens (L5) and the first projection lens (L1).

[0306] And the second projection lens (L2) or the fifth projection lens (L5) may have the largest thickness (CT2, CT5) among the first projection lens (L1) to the fifth projection lens (L5).

[0307] Additionally, the second projection lens (L2) may have the smallest thickness (CT4) among the first to fifth projection lenses (L1) to (L5).

[0308] And among the first projection lens (L1) to the fifth projection lens (L5), the distance between adjacent projection lenses may be the largest as the distance (AG1) between the fourth projection lens (L4) and the fifth projection lens (L5). In addition, among the first projection lens (L1) to the fifth projection lens (L5), the distance between adjacent projection lenses may be the smallest as the distance (AG4) between the first projection lens (L1) and the second projection lens (L2) or the distance (AG2) between the third projection lens (L3) and the fourth projection lens (L4).

[0309] Additionally, the first projection lens (L1) may have the largest focal length (absolute value) among the first to fifth projection lenses (L1). Here, the focal length is described in absolute value.

[0310] The focal length of the first projection lens (L1) may be the largest among the plurality of projection lenses, and may be 10 or more. In addition to the first projection lens, the focal length of the fifth projection lens (L5) may be the largest among the plurality of projection lenses. And the focal length of the fourth projection lens may be the smallest among the plurality of projection lenses. For example, the focal length of the fourth projection lens (L4) may be the smallest among the plurality of projection lenses. By this configuration, improved MTF characteristics, aberration control characteristics, resolution characteristics, etc. may be provided in the field of view range set in the optical system. In particular, good optical performance may be provided in the periphery of the field of view.

[0311] Based on the values in each table below, the relationship between the characteristics of each projection lens may be applied.

[0312] Referring to Fig. 27, Fig. 27 is a graph measuring spherical aberration (longitudinal spherical aberration), astigmatic field curves, and distortion from left to right in an aberration graph. In Fig. 27, the X-axis may represent a focal length (mm) and a degree of distortion (%), and the Y-axis may represent the height of the image. In addition, the graph for spherical aberration is a graph for light in a wavelength band of about 465 nm, about 500 nm, about 542 nm, about 590 nm, and about 642 nm, and the graph for astigmatism and distortion is a graph for light in a wavelength band of about 542 nm.

[0313] As illustrated in Fig. 27, the closer each curve is to the Y-axis, the better the aberration correction function can be interpreted. In the projector device according to the embodiment, it can be seen that the optical system of the projection system has measured values close to the Y-axis in almost all areas. That is, the optical system of the projection system of the projector device according to the embodiment has improved resolution and can have good optical performance not only in the center of the field of view (FOV) but also in the periphery.

[0314] Referring to Fig. 28, Fig. 28 is a graph showing a diffraction MTF (Modulation Transfer Function), which is a graph showing a luminance ratio (modulation) according to spatial frequency. For example, the MTF focus position shift is 0 um, and the EFL and HFOV are set to 2.1562 and 150.3 degrees, respectively. The deviation of the MTF for the optical system (projection system) of the projector device according to the embodiment may be less than 40%. Preferably, the deviation may be less than 20%. More preferably, the deviation may be less than 10%.
