Abstract
Description
SYSTEM FOR LIFTING THE SPARE WHEEL ONTO THE VEHICLE
[0001] The invention relates to mechanical engineering, to the design of a mechanism intended for raising / lowering a spare wheel of a vehicle transported on a vehicle; the system is used when changing wheels on all-terrain vehicles in road conditions.
[0002] This application is filed with priority to application RU 2023123258 dated 09 / 07 / 2023 patent RU 2816380 "SYSTEM FOR LIFTING A SPARE WHEEL ON A VEHICLE".
[0003] A spare wheel is an additional, serviceable wheel carried in / on a vehicle, intended to replace a defective wheel that is flat, punctured, or otherwise damaged and unsuitable for use.
[0004] It is common knowledge that spare wheels on passenger vehicles are stored and transported in the trunk, in a recess where the wheel is held by a bolt / stud with a nut. It is also known to store the spare wheel under the rear of the body, under the cargo bed of the vehicle, using various mounting methods. On SUVs and all-terrain vehicles, the spare wheel is usually stored and transported outside the body - on the rear door or on the hood, or on the side of the body, or on the roof.
[0005] It is known that vehicles are equipped with wheels of different sizes and weights, for all-terrain vehicles, trucks, snow and swamp vehicles the wheel weight can be from 50 to 150 kg, and the diameter from 1000 to 1800 mm. A spare wheel of the specified weight and size is difficult to place in the body or install on the body of a vehicle for storage and transportation, and it is also not easy to remove the spare wheel if necessary, without using lifting mechanisms. Lifting and removing the spare wheel requires significant physical effort from several people.
[0006] The need to replace or repair a faulty wheel may arise during a trip, in various road conditions, where it is not possible to use lifting mechanisms, a crane or a crane beam to lower and hold the spare wheel. In this case, it is necessary to perform the work of lowering the spare wheel from the body, replacing the faulty wheel, and lifting the faulty wheel onto the body for transportation, by one person.
[0007] A device for securing a spare wheel is known [1]. The wheel is folded down to the lower working position and lifted to the transport position using a winch controlled by one person. The device for securing a spare wheel comprises an L-shaped frame made in the form of a tubular spatial structure, the base of the frame is pivotally mounted in the lower part of the rear side of the vehicle, with the ability to tilt away from the rear side. The hinged joints provide spatial movement of the spare wheel from the vertical plane to the horizontal plane for subsequent removal of the wheel using a lifting mechanism mounted on the base brackets. The lifting mechanism consists of a manual winch with a ratchet mechanism and a removable handle, which is put on the winch handle during operation. The L-shaped lever is connected to the lifting mechanism by a pulley connection and a stopper.
[0008] The disadvantage of the device [1] is the placement of the frame at the bottom of the rear side of the vehicle, with the possibility of tipping it away from the rear side. The frame does not allow using the door in the rear side of the body and lifting the wheel onto the roof. The spare wheel is folded away together with the frame, removing the spare wheel (weight from 50 to 150 kg) from the frame requires efforts that are difficult for one person to develop, the device does not allow hanging the wheel and lowering it to the ground using a winch. During operation of the vehicle, vibration loads acting on the device with a heavy wheel contribute to the weakening of the device's fastening to the vehicle body, which can lead to the frame folded away spontaneously.
[0009] A device for raising and lowering a spare wheel of a vehicle equipped with a ladder is known [2]. The device comprises a spare wheel holder made in the form of a trolley with support rollers, a winch with a cable, a system of rollers and a ladder with which the body is equipped, a rotating frame pivotally connected to the ladder by means of a torsion bar.
[0010] The device [2] does not allow the spare wheel to be lowered to the ground. The spare wheel, captured in the holder, is brought to the place of removal by moving it along the ladder; it is impossible to use the device if there is no ladder on the body. The device does not allow the use of the door in the rear side of the body. Another disadvantage is the low reliability of the device due to the complexity of the design, the presence of a movable trolley, a ladder and the increased material consumption of the design.
[0011] Mechanisms that provide storage and transportation of a spare wheel on the roof of a vehicle seem preferable for off-road vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, and snow and swamp vehicles, from the point of view of operational qualities, since they have increased reliability of fastening the spare wheel in the transport position to the vehicle body, and do not clutter the tailboard.
[0012] The claimed technical solution relates to systems for lifting the spare wheel onto the vehicle roof, and removing the spare wheel from the roof, with the possibility of lowering the wheel to the ground and lifting it from the ground.
[0013] A device for lifting and securing a spare wheel of a vehicle on the roof is known [3]. The device comprises a lever, which is a pipe, the base of the lever is made in the form of a fork of two beams, the ends of which are fixed with a hinge joint at the top of the rear part of the vehicle body, with the possibility of tipping the frame onto the roof, the free end of the lever is equipped with a lifting mechanism in the form of a manual winch with a pulley, a gearbox, a handle and a cable equipped with a hook. The lever contains travel limiters that fix the lever by resting against the rear side of the body.
[0014] The device [3] does not allow the use of a standard electric winch of the vehicle, located on the body; there is no way to control the lifting and lowering of the spare wheel while on the ground. The location of the winch with the gearbox and the handle on the free end of the lever increases the metal content of the structure and makes it heavier, increases the overall load on the lever at the attachment points to the body and reduces the overall lifting capacity of the mechanism. The weak design of the lever, made in the form of a pipe, the free end of which is weighted in the form of a manual winch with a gearbox, does not allow lifting heavy wheels of all-terrain vehicles. The travel limiters, which fix the lever by resting on the rear side of the body, do not reliably fix the lever when lifting a wheel of large mass (from 50 to 150 kg).To lower / raise the spare tire, the user must climb onto the roof and rotate the mechanical winch handle while in an unsafe position at a height, which increases the risk of falling from a height while rotating the winch handle.
[0015] Thus, the means known from the prior art for lifting the spare wheel onto a vehicle and lowering the spare wheel from a vehicle have disadvantages that impair the operation of vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, snow and swamp vehicles, for example, of the “Burlak” type.
[0016] The system for lifting the spare wheel on a vehicle comprises a lever, fixed with a hinge joint at the top of the rear part of the vehicle body with the possibility of tipping onto the roof, a lifting mechanism in the form of a winch with a cable, and lever travel limiters. It differs in that the lever is made in the form of a triangular frame made of beams, the base of the lever is hingedly connected to the vehicle body, the top of the lever is equipped with an eye, and a block is suspended on the eye of the lever. The lever travel limiters are made in the form of slings with fasteners designed to connect the lever to the roof of the vehicle. The system comprises a cable equipped with a rigging bracket at one end and a fastening block with a roller at the other end, passed through a block suspended on the eye. The winch is installed in the lower part of the rear side of the vehicle with the possibility of passing the winch cable through the roller of the fastening block.
[0017] The technical task is to provide the ability to lift the spare wheel of a vehicle (all-terrain vehicle, snow and swamp vehicle, truck) from the ground (support surface) to the roof of the vehicle, and to lower the spare wheel from the roof to the ground under road conditions.
[0018] The problem is solved in that the system for lifting the spare wheel onto the vehicle contains a lever, fixed with a hinge joint at the top of the rear part of the vehicle body with the possibility of tipping onto the roof, a lifting mechanism in the form of a winch with a cable, and limiters for the movement of the lever.
[0019] It is distinguished by the fact that the lever is made in the form of a triangular frame made of beams, the base of the lever is pivotally connected to the body of the vehicle, the top of the lever is equipped with an eye, a block is suspended on the eye of the lever. The limiters of the lever movement are made in the form of slings with fasteners designed to connect the lever to the roof of the vehicle. The system contains a cable equipped with a rigging bracket at one end and a fastening block with a roller at the other end, passed through a block suspended on an eye. The winch is installed in the lower part of the rear side of the vehicle with the ability to pass the winch cable through the roller of the fastening block.
[0020] Unlike its analogues, the system uses a winch located at the bottom of the vehicle's tailgate to create traction; the user can freely raise and lower the spare wheel while on the ground.
[0021] A triangular lever connected to the roof with straps provides the ability to withstand the load from the weight of a heavy all-terrain vehicle wheel, distributing the effort to the frame and straps. The wheel is fixed with a cable with a rigging bracket for the disk (rim) or mounting flange. The flexibility of the cable allows the wheel to be moved if necessary.
[0022] The above set of features allows us to solve the problem and ensures the stated technical result.
[0023] The technical result consists in expanding the arsenal of technical means intended for lifting the spare wheel of a vehicle onto the roof of the vehicle, storing the spare wheel in the transport position, and lowering the spare wheel from the roof under road conditions. Figure 1

[0030] It should be noted that when developing any actual implementation option of the system, numerous specific solutions can be implemented to ensure the achievement of the specified technical result and advantages of the system.
[0031] Description of use.
[0032] The system is used to raise / lower the spare wheel of a vehicle carried on a vehicle when changing wheels on all-terrain vehicles under road conditions.
[0033] A diagram is shown illustrating the procedure for lifting the spare tire onto a vehicle, the position of the tire is shown in.
[0034] The spare wheel is lifted and secured to the roof of the vehicle body 3 as follows. The locks of the lever 2 are loosened and the lever 2 is lifted on the roof. From the horizontal plane, the lever 2, secured to the vehicle body 3, is moved to a vertical position by means of the hinges 5. The cable 9 is passed through the block 7 suspended by the eye 6 of the lever 2. The ends of the cable 9 with the rigging bracket 10 and the fastening block with the roller 11 are lowered down along the rear side of the vehicle. The straps 8 are used to fix the lever 2 in a vertical position with an inclination away from the rear side. The straps 8 are secured to the beams 4 and the roof. The straps 8 limit the downward movement of the lever 2. Unwind the cable 13 of the winch 12 and pass it through the roller 11 of the cable fastening block 9. Pull out the cable 13 of the winch 12 so that the length of the cable 9 is sufficient to cover the spare wheel 1. Hook the wheel 1 with the cable 9 by passing the cable 9 with the rigging bracket 10 through the holes in the disk of the wheel 1.The rigging bracket 11 is closed to the cable 9. Using the winch control panel 12, the cable 9 is pulled and the wheel 1 is lifted until it stops at the lever 2 (the wheel is level with the frame in height. In this position, the lever 2 is lowered and turned to the original horizontal plane. The lever 2 is fixed to the body and the wheel 1 is secured with the slings 8.
[0035] The spare wheel is lowered in the reverse order. Loosen the clamps of lever 2 and raise lever 2 on the roof. Pass cable 9 through block 7 suspended by eye 6 of lever 2. Unwind cable 13 of winch 12 and pass it through roller 11 of cable fastening block 9. Pull out cable 13 of winch 12 so that the length of cable 9 is sufficient to cover spare wheel 1. Hook wheel 1 with cable 9 by passing cable 9 with rigging shackle 10 through holes in wheel disk 1. Lock rigging shackle 11 onto cable 9. Using winch control panel 12, tighten cable 9. Release wheel 1 by disconnecting slings 8. Using winch control panel 12, lower cable 9 with wheel 1 down to the ground surface. The rigging bracket 11 is removed from the cable 9, releasing the wheel 1.
[0036] The technical solution can be implemented using industrially produced devices and materials, its elements can be manufactured and assembled both by hand and at modern industrial enterprises. Nothing prevents the use of the system for the specified purpose.
