Battery cells, batteries, and electrical devices

Technical field

[0001] The present application belongs to the field of batteries, and specifically relates to a battery cell, a battery, and an electrical device. [Background Technology]

[0002] The main component of a battery is the battery cell. Each cell consists of a battery cell, a housing, and a top cover. The housing has a space for the battery cell, and the top cover is welded to the housing to seal the space.

[0003] Laser welding is generally used to weld the top cover to the housing. However, during the welding process, laser leakage or particles falling into the accommodating space may occur, thereby damaging the battery cell.

[0004] [Summary of the invention]

[0005] The present application provides a battery cell, a battery, and an electrical device, which can solve the problem that during the welding process of the battery cell, there may be laser leakage or particles falling into the accommodating space, thereby causing damage to the battery cell.

[0006] In order to solve the above technical problems, a technical solution adopted in the present application is: to provide a battery cell, the battery cell comprising: a shell, the shell forming a accommodating space; a battery cell, the battery cell being arranged in the accommodating space; a top cover, the top cover being connected to the shell and covering the accommodating space, a protrusion being provided on the top cover, the protrusion being located in the accommodating space, and the protrusion being blocked between the battery cell and at least part of the connection between the top cover and the shell.

[0007] By providing a protrusion on the top cover and cooperating with the shell, the laser or falling particles during welding can be blocked, and the laser or particles can be prevented from entering the accommodating space and causing damage to the battery cell.

[0008] In some embodiments, the shell includes a bottom wall and a side wall, the side wall extends from the edge of the bottom wall, the bottom wall and the side wall enclose the accommodating space, the top cover is connected to one end of the side wall away from the bottom wall, and the protrusion and the side wall form a surface gap or abutment of the accommodating space.

[0009] The protrusion is spaced apart from or abuts against the side wall of the shell, which can better prevent laser or particles from entering the accommodating space and causing damage to the battery cell.

[0010] In some embodiments, the protrusion is spaced apart from the surface of the side wall forming the accommodating space, and the spacing is no greater than 0.1 mm.

[0011] The protrusion is spaced apart from the side wall so that it will not rub against the side wall, thus preventing wear. Moreover, the spacing between the protrusion and the side wall is no greater than 0.1 mm, which can effectively prevent laser or particles from entering the accommodating space and causing damage to the battery cell.

[0012] In some embodiments, a flange is provided on a side of the side wall away from the bottom wall, and the top cover is connected to the flange.

[0013] The provision of the flange edge can avoid the welding position of the shell and the top cover from the accommodating space, thereby reducing the probability of laser or particles entering the accommodating space.

[0014] In some embodiments, the shortest distance from the protrusion to the edge of the top cover is not less than the sum of the width of the flange and the thickness of the side wall.

[0015] This arrangement allows the protrusion to be arranged corresponding to the accommodating space and will not interfere with the side wall during installation.

[0016] In some embodiments, a first rounded corner and a second rounded corner are formed on the protrusion, the first rounded corner is the corner on the inner side of the protrusion, the second rounded corner is the corner on the outer side of the protrusion, and the radius of the first rounded corner is not less than the difference between the radius of the second rounded corner and the thickness of the protrusion.

[0017] The rounded corners can make the bent portion of the protrusion smoother and prevent the protrusion from interfering with the housing.

[0018] In some embodiments, a third rounded corner is formed on the top cover, and a radius of the second rounded corner is not less than a difference between a radius of the third rounded corner and a minimum distance between the protrusion and an edge of the top cover.

[0019] This arrangement can achieve a smooth transition between the edge of the top cover and the protrusion, and can also achieve a similar shape between the edge of the top cover and the protrusion.

[0020] In some embodiments, the protrusion is perpendicular to the top cover.

[0021] This arrangement makes the protrusion structure stable and minimizes the projected area on the protrusion, making it easier to avoid the battery cell in the accommodating space.

[0022] In some embodiments, a tab is provided on one side of the battery cell, the tab is arranged toward one of the side walls, and the protrusion is spaced or abutted against the surface of the accommodating space formed by the side wall not facing the tab.

[0023] Providing protrusions on the other sides of the top cover that do not correspond to the tabs can better block the laser or falling particles when welding multiple sides of the shell and the top cover.

[0024] In some embodiments, the protrusion is a continuous structure, and a projection of the protrusion on the top cover surrounds a projection of the battery cell on the top cover.

[0025] The protrusions are arranged continuously, which can achieve all-round protection for the battery cell and better block the laser or falling particles when the shell and the top cover are welded.

[0026] In some embodiments, the cross-section of the protrusion along a direction perpendicular to the top cover is rectangular.

[0027] The rectangular structure maintains a constant distance between the protrusion and the side wall, better preventing the entry of particles. Even if the laser is reflected, it will be reflected between the side wall of the shell and the protrusion, which is effective in blocking the laser or falling particles when the shell and the top cover are welded.

[0028] In some embodiments, the top cover and the shell are connected by welding, and the protrusion is blocked between the battery cell and at least a portion of the weld between the top cover and the shell.

[0029] The welding method can make the connection between the top cover and the shell very stable and can also play a sealing role.

[0030] In some embodiments, the protrusion is provided on the first surface of the top cover, the second surface of the top cover is a plane, and the second surface and the first surface are surfaces on the top cover facing away from each other.

[0031] This arrangement ensures that the overall surface of the battery cell is smooth, making it more suitable for assembly with other components or battery cells.

[0032] In order to solve the above technical problems, another technical solution adopted in the present application is: to provide a battery, which includes any one of the battery cells described above.

[0033] In the above manner, the battery cells in the battery are provided with protrusions on the top cover, which cooperate with the shell to block the laser or falling particles during welding, and prevent the laser or particles from entering the accommodating space and causing damage to the battery cell.

[0034] In order to solve the above technical problems, another technical solution adopted in this application is: to provide an electrical device, which includes the battery mentioned above, and the battery is used to store electricity and / or supply power to the electrical device.

[0035] In the above manner, the battery cells in the battery are provided with protrusions on the top cover, which cooperate with the shell to block the laser or falling particles during welding, and prevent the laser or particles from entering the accommodating space and causing damage to the battery cell.

[0036] The structure of the present application as well as its other objectives and beneficial effects will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings to ensure that the description of the preferred embodiments is more obvious and understandable.

[0059] An existing battery cell includes a battery cell, a shell, and a top cover. The shell forms a storage space, in which the battery cell is disposed. The top cover is welded to the shell to seal the storage space. Laser welding is generally used to weld the top cover to the shell. During laser welding, the laser can easily leak into the storage space, damaging the battery cell. In addition, since the shell and the top cover are typically welded at the edge of the storage space or very close to the storage space, it is easy for particles to enter the storage space, potentially damaging the battery cell in the storage space during use of the battery cell.

[0060] In order to solve the problem that the battery cell may leak laser or drop particles into the accommodation space during welding, thereby causing damage to the battery cell, the present application proposes a battery cell, a battery, and an electrical device. The battery cell may leak laser or drop particles during welding because the welding position is very close to the accommodation space, and there is no barrier between the welding position and the battery cell position in the accommodation space. The battery cell is provided with a protrusion on the top cover, which forms a barrier between the welding position and the battery cell. The protrusion is used to block the laser or prevent particles from falling into the accommodation space.

[0061] For the convenience of description, the following embodiments are described by taking a vehicle as an example of an electrical device according to an embodiment of the present application.

[0062] Please refer to FIG. 1 , which is a schematic structural diagram of a vehicle according to one or more embodiments.

[0063] The vehicle 1000 may be a fuel vehicle, a gas vehicle, or a new energy vehicle. The new energy vehicle may be a pure electric vehicle, a hybrid vehicle, or a range-extended vehicle, etc. A battery 100 is provided inside the vehicle 1000. The battery 100 may be provided at the bottom, head, or tail of the vehicle 1000. The battery 100 may be used to power the vehicle 1000. For example, the battery 100 may serve as an operating power source for the vehicle 1000. The vehicle 1000 may further include a controller 200 and a motor 300. The controller 200 is used to control the battery 100 to power the motor 300, for example, to meet the power requirements for starting, navigating, and driving the vehicle 1000.

[0064] In some embodiments of the present application, the battery 100 can serve not only as an operating power source for the vehicle 1000, but also as a driving power source for the vehicle 1000, replacing or partially replacing fuel or natural gas to provide driving power for the vehicle 1000.

[0065] To improve the performance of electrical devices, the present application further provides a battery 100. See Figure 2, which is a schematic diagram of an exploded structure of a battery according to one or more embodiments. The shape of the battery 100 includes, but is not limited to, a square. In other embodiments, the shape of the battery 100 may also be cylindrical, square, or any other arbitrary shape.

[0066] In some embodiments, the battery 100 may include a housing 10 and a battery cell 20, with the battery cell 20 housed within the housing 10. The housing 10 is used to provide a storage space for the battery cell 20 and may have various structures. In some embodiments, the housing 10 may include a first portion 11 and a second portion 12, which overlap each other and together define a storage space for the battery cell 20. The second portion 12 may be a hollow structure with one end open, and the first portion 11 may be a plate-like structure, with the first portion 11 overlapping the open side of the second portion 12, so that the first portion 11 and the second portion 12 together define a storage space. The first portion 11 and the second portion 12 may also each be a hollow structure with one end open, with the open side of the first portion 11 overlapping the open side of the second portion 12. Of course, the housing 10 formed by the first portion 11 and the second portion 12 may have various shapes, such as a cylinder, a rectangular parallelepiped, etc.

[0067] In the battery 100, there may be multiple battery cells 20, and the multiple battery cells 20 may be connected in series, in parallel, or in a hybrid connection. A hybrid connection refers to a combination of series and parallel connections among the multiple battery cells 20. The multiple battery cells 20 may be directly connected in series, in parallel, or in a hybrid connection, and then the entire battery cell 20 may be housed within the housing 10. Alternatively, the battery 100 may be constructed by first connecting multiple battery cells 20 in series, in parallel, or in a hybrid connection to form a battery module, which is then connected in series, in parallel, or in a hybrid connection to form a complete battery module, and then housed within the housing 10. The battery 100 may also include other structures, such as a busbar assembly for electrically connecting the multiple battery cells 20.

[0068] Each battery cell 20 may be a secondary battery or a primary battery, and may also be a lithium-sulfur battery, a sodium-ion battery, or a magnesium-ion battery, but is not limited thereto. The battery cell 20 may be cylindrical, flat, rectangular, or in other shapes.

[0069] Battery 100 can be manufactured in two ways: laminated and wound. Laminated batteries offer uniform current collection, low internal resistance, and high specific power, but they require extremely high mold precision, high equipment investment, and a relatively complex process, resulting in low production efficiency. Wound batteries are simple to manufacture, with moderate equipment precision requirements during the production and assembly processes. They offer high production efficiency and low cost. In terms of performance, wound batteries offer excellent high and low temperature performance, rapid charging, an extremely long lifespan, stable high output voltage, a sturdy structure, and strong shock resistance.

[0070] As shown in Figures 3 to 6, Figure 3 is a schematic diagram of the three-dimensional structure of a battery cell according to some embodiments, Figure 4 is an exploded structural view of a battery cell according to some embodiments, Figure 5 is a schematic diagram of the bottom structure of the top cover 23 according to some embodiments, and Figure 6 is an enlarged structural diagram of part B in Figure 5. In some embodiments, the battery cell 20 includes a shell 22, a battery cell 21, and a top cover 23. The shell 22 is formed with a storage space, and the battery cell 21 is arranged in the storage space. The top cover 23 is connected to the shell 22 and covers the storage space. A protrusion 231 is provided on the top cover 23, and the protrusion 231 is located in the storage space, and the protrusion 231 is blocked between the battery cell 21 and at least part of the connection between the top cover 23 and the shell 22.

[0071] The battery cell 21 is the component within the battery cell 20 where the electrochemical reaction occurs. The housing 22 is a component used to create the internal environment of the battery cell 20. The internal environment formed by the housing 22 can be used to accommodate the battery cell 21, electrolyte, and other components. The housing 22 can contain one or more battery cells 21, and the number is not limited. The housing 22 is formed with an opening for inserting the battery cell 21 into the storage space through the opening. The top cover 23 covers the opening and, in conjunction with the housing 22, seals the storage space for the battery cell 21. The top cover 23 is a plate-like structure, and its shape corresponds to that of the housing 22. The edges of the top cover 23 are connected to the edges of the housing 22, thereby enabling the housing 22 to seal the storage space for the battery cell 21. In some embodiments, the top cover 23 is connected to the housing 22 by laser welding. The protrusion 231 is formed by extending from the surface of the housing 22 facing the storage space into the storage space, and thus the protrusion 231 is located within the storage space. Only when the protrusion 231 is located in the accommodating space can it correspond to the gap between the top cover 23 and the shell 22, thereby blocking the laser or falling particles when the top cover 23 and the shell 22 are welded. The connection between the top cover 23 and the shell 22 is the connection position between the top cover 23 and the shell 22. The protrusion 231 blocks the connection between the battery cell 21 and at least part of the connection between the top cover 23 and the shell 22, so that at least part of the connection between the top cover 23 and the shell 22 and the battery cell 21 are blocked by the protrusion 231, so that the light at at least part of the connection between the top cover 23 and the shell 22 cannot directly shine on the battery cell 21. The particles generated at least part of the connection between the top cover 23 and the shell 22 will also be blocked by the protrusion 231 and the shell, and will not fall into the battery cell 21. The projection of the protrusion 231 on the top cover 23 and the projection of the battery cell 21 on the protrusion 231 are arranged at intervals so that the protrusion 231 can be arranged around the battery cell 21, and between the connection position between the top cover 23 and the shell 22 and the battery cell 21. The shell 22 can be of various shapes and sizes, including but not limited to rectangular, cylindrical, hexagonal, etc. The shape of the shell 22 can be determined according to the specific shape and size of the battery cell 21. The material of the shell 22 can be various, including but not limited to copper, iron, aluminum, stainless steel, aluminum alloy, plastic, etc. The size and shape of the top cover 23 are adapted to the size and shape of the shell 22.

[0072] By providing a protrusion 231 on the top cover 23 and cooperating with the shell 22, the laser or falling particles during welding of the top cover 23 and the shell 22 can be blocked, and the laser or particles can be prevented from entering the accommodating space to cause damage to the battery cell 21, thereby protecting the battery cell 21.

[0073] Please refer to Figures 7 to 9. Figure 7 is a schematic diagram of the top view of the battery cell according to some embodiments, Figure 8 is a schematic diagram of the cross-sectional structure of the battery cell along the AA section in Figure 7, and Figure 9 is an enlarged schematic diagram of the structure of the battery cell in the C area in Figure 8. In some embodiments, the shell 22 includes a bottom wall 221 and a side wall 222. The side wall 222 extends from the edge of the bottom wall 221, and the bottom wall 221 and the side wall 222 form a receiving space with an opening. The top cover 23 is connected to the end of the side wall 222 away from the bottom wall 221, and the protrusion 231 is spaced or abutted against the surface of the receiving space formed by the side wall 222.

[0074] The bottom wall 221 of the shell 22 is arranged opposite to the top cover 23, and the side wall 222 is arranged around the edge of the bottom wall 221. The side wall 222 is used to connect the bottom wall 221 and the top cover 23. The bottom wall 221 and the side wall 222 can be an integrally formed structure, made of the same material. In some embodiments, the projection of the bottom wall 221 on the top cover 23 covers the projection of the protrusion 231 on the top cover 23, and the edge of the projection of the bottom wall 221 on the top cover 23 is spaced apart from the edge of the top cover 23. In some embodiments, the side wall 222 can be arranged perpendicular to the bottom wall 221 and the top cover 23. The surface of the side wall 222 forming the accommodating space is the inner surface of the side wall 222, that is, the surface of the side wall 222 facing the battery cell 21.

[0075] The protrusion 231 is spaced apart from or abuts against the side wall 222 of the housing 22 , which can better prevent laser light or particles from entering the accommodating space and causing damage to the battery cell 21 .

[0076] In some embodiments, the protrusion 231 and the side wall 222 are spaced apart from each other on the surface of the accommodation space, and the spacing is no greater than 0.1 mm.

[0077] The protrusion 231 and the sidewall 222 form a surface gap in the receiving space, that is, the protrusion 231 is spaced apart from the sidewall 222. If the gap between the protrusion 231 and the sidewall 222 is too large, the protrusion 231 will weaken its ability to block laser light or particles from entering the receiving space, thereby affecting the efficiency of the battery cell 21. Therefore, when the protrusion 231 and the sidewall 222 are spaced apart, the gap should not be greater than 0.1 mm.

[0078] The protrusion 231 is spaced apart from the side wall 222 so that there will be no friction with the side wall 222, thereby preventing wear. Moreover, the spacing between the protrusion 231 and the side wall 222 is no greater than 0.1 mm, which can effectively prevent laser or particles from entering the accommodating space and causing damage to the battery cell 21.

[0079] In some embodiments, a flange 223 is provided on a side of the side wall 222 away from the bottom wall 221 , and the top cover 23 is connected to the flange 223 .

[0080] The flange edge 223 is a structure formed by the side wall 222 extending in the direction away from the battery cell 21. The flange edge 223 is arranged parallel to the top cover 23, and the top cover 23 is in contact with the flange edge 223. In addition, the edge of the top cover 23 is connected to the edge of the flange edge 223 away from the side wall 222. This connection can be welding, such as laser welding. This arrangement can make the welding position between the top cover 23 and the flange edge 223 have a certain distance from the accommodating space, and can avoid the accommodating space, and not be directly welded by the edge of the accommodating space. The side wall 222 and the bottom wall 221, and the side wall 222 and the flange edge 223 can be connected by chamfering. The chamfer can be a bevel angle, a rounded angle, an arc angle, etc.

[0081] The flange edge 223 can be provided so that the welding position between the shell 22 and the top cover 23 avoids the accommodating space, thereby reducing the probability of laser or particles entering the accommodating space.

[0082] In some embodiments, the shortest distance L3 from the protrusion 231 to the edge of the top cover 23 is not less than the sum of the width L1 of the flange 223 and the thickness L2 of the side wall 222 .

[0083] The width L1 of the flange 223 is the minimum length of the flange 223 from its connection with the sidewall 222 toward the sidewall 222. The thickness L2 of the sidewall 222 is the minimum length of the sidewall 222 from the inner sidewall 222 facing the battery cell 21 to the outer sidewall 222 facing away from the battery cell 21. When designing the protrusion 231 on the top cover 23, the width L1 of the flange 223 and the thickness L2 of the sidewall 222 can be considered to determine the position of the protrusion 231. If the flange 223 is connected to the sidewall 222 via a chamfer, the chamfer must also be taken into account and can be calculated as if the chamfer is part of the flange 223.

[0084] This configuration allows the protrusion 231 to be disposed corresponding to the accommodating space and will not interfere with the side wall 222 during installation.

[0085] In some embodiments, a first rounded corner α and a second rounded corner β are formed on the protrusion 231. The first rounded corner α is the inner corner of the protrusion 231, and the second rounded corner β is the outer corner of the protrusion 231. The radius R1 of the first rounded corner α is not less than the difference between the radius R2 of the second rounded corner β and the thickness L4 of the protrusion 231.

[0086] The protrusion 231 is a rectangular frame structure with rounded corners. Since the protrusion 231 has a certain thickness L4, each corner of the protrusion 231 has an inner corner and an outer corner. The first rounded corner α is the inner corner of the protrusion 231, with a smaller radius R1. The second rounded corner β is the outer corner of the protrusion 231, with a larger radius R2. In some embodiments, the protrusion 231 can be another polygonal frame structure, each corner of which has a first inner rounded corner α and a second outer rounded corner β.

[0087] The rounded corners can make the bent portion of the protrusion 231 smoother and prevent the protrusion 231 from interfering with the housing 22 .

[0088] In some embodiments, a third fillet γ is formed on the top cover 23 , and a radius R2 of the second fillet β is not less than a difference between a radius R3 of the third fillet γ and a minimum distance L3 from the protrusion 231 to the edge of the top cover 23 .

[0089] The top cover 23 is also a rectangular structure, with third rounded corners γ formed at the four corners of the top cover 23. The shortest distance L3 between the protrusion 231 and the edge of the top cover 23 is the shortest distance between the outer edge of the protrusion 231 and the edge of the top cover 23.

[0090] This arrangement can achieve a smooth transition between the edge of the top cover 23 and the protrusion 231 , and can also achieve a shape similar to that of the edge of the top cover 23 and the protrusion 231 .

[0091] In some embodiments, the protrusion 231 is perpendicular to the top cover 23 .

[0092] If the protrusion 231 is tilted, the accommodation space will also be tilted. However, since the battery cell 21 is arranged in the accommodation space, the protrusion 231 needs to avoid the battery cell 21. The tilted arrangement will take up a larger space in the accommodation space, making it difficult to avoid the battery cell 21. The protrusion 231 is perpendicular to the top cover 23, and the top cover 23 covers the opening of the accommodation space. Therefore, the protrusion 231 is vertically arranged in the accommodation space. This arrangement is not tilted, making it easier to avoid the battery cell 21. The vertical arrangement also makes it less likely that the protrusion 231 will rub or collide with the side wall 222, thereby making the structure of the protrusion 231 stable.

[0093] This arrangement makes the protrusion 231 structurally stable and minimizes the projected area on the protrusion 231 , thereby making it easier to avoid the battery cell 21 in the accommodating space.

[0094] In some embodiments, the height L5 of the protrusion 231 is no greater than 0.5 mm.

[0095] The height L5 of the protrusion 231 is the length of the protrusion 231 in the vertical direction from the top cover 23 to the bottom wall 221. If the height L5 of the protrusion 231 is too high, it will easily occupy the space of other components. Therefore, limiting its height L5 can effectively prevent it from occupying the space of other components. In addition, there may be structures such as a bottom support plate and a lower plastic between the battery cell 21 and the side wall 222. If the height L5 of the protrusion 231 is too high, it may interfere with the bottom support plate, the lower plastic and other structures. In addition, if the height L5 of the protrusion 231 is too high, for example, the same as the height of the side wall 222, the volume of the housing 22 needs to be expanded to enable the normal arrangement of other components. The height L5 of the protrusion 231 can be 0.5 mm, or it can be 0.4 mm, 0.3 mm, 0.2 mm or 0.1 mm, and can be adjusted according to the size of the specific housing 22.

[0096] This configuration can prevent the protrusion 231 from occupying too much accommodation space.

[0097] In some embodiments, the thickness L4 of the protrusion 231 is no greater than 0.5 mm.

[0098] If the thickness L4 of the protrusion 231 is too large, it may squeeze or collide with the battery cell 21, thereby damaging the battery cell 21. Therefore, the thickness L4 of the protrusion 231 is limited. The thickness L4 of the protrusion 231 can be 0.5 mm, 0.4 mm, 0.3 mm, 0.2 mm, or 0.1 mm, and can be adjusted according to the specific size of the housing 22.

[0099] The protrusion 231 only needs to block laser or particles from entering the accommodation space, so a large thickness L4 is required. This configuration can simplify the protrusion 231, save materials, and prevent the protrusion 231 from occupying too much accommodation space.

[0100] As shown in Figure 10, which is a schematic diagram of a top cover structure viewed from below according to other embodiments, in some embodiments, a tab is provided on one side of the battery cell 21. The tab is positioned toward a side wall 222, and the protrusion 231 is spaced or positioned against the surface of the side wall 222 that is not facing the tab, forming an accommodating space.

[0101] The tabs are part of the battery cell 21 and connect to components such as the poles to form the positive and negative electrodes of the battery cell 20. Components such as the poles are located on the sidewalls 222 of the housing 22 or on at least one side of the top cover 23. Therefore, the tabs are located toward at least one sidewall 222 of the housing 22. When the housing 22 is rectangular, it includes four sidewalls 222. The tabs are located toward one sidewall 222, while the tabs and the other three sidewalls 222 are located away from the sidewalls 222. The protrusions 231 are spaced or positioned against the sidewalls 222 that are not facing the tabs, forming a surface space to accommodate the space. Specifically, the protrusions 231 are located corresponding to the three sidewalls 222 of the housing, resulting in a U-shaped projection of the protrusions 231 on the top cover 23. When the housing 22 has other shapes, the projection of the protrusions 231 on the top cover 23 will have another shape, such as one with at least one opening. For example, the projection of the protrusion 231 on the top cover 23 will have an opening, which corresponds to the position of the projection of the tab on the top cover 23, that is, the distance between the projection position of the tab on the top cover 23 and the opening is smaller than the distance between the projection of the tab on the top cover 23 and the projection of the protrusion 231 on the top cover 23.

[0102] In this way, the other sides of the top cover 23 that do not correspond to the tabs are provided with protrusions 231 , which can better block the laser or dropped particles when welding the multiple sides of the shell 22 and the top cover 23 .

[0103] As shown in FIG11 , which is a bottom view of the top cover according to some other embodiments, the protrusion 231 is a continuous structure, and the projection of the protrusion 231 on the top cover 23 surrounds the projection of the battery cell 21 on the top cover 23 .

[0104] In some embodiments, the protrusion 231 is a continuous structure, which can be a rectangular structure, a square structure, a parallelogram structure, or other polygonal structures. The continuous structure is a structure connected end to end without forming an opening.

[0105] The protrusions 231 are continuously arranged, which can achieve all-round protection for the battery cell 21 and better block the laser or falling particles when the shell 22 and the top cover 23 are welded.

[0106] In some embodiments, the cross section of the protrusion 231 along a direction perpendicular to the top cover 23 is rectangular.

[0107] As shown in Figures 8 and 9, the cross-section of Figure 8 is taken along the direction of the housing and top cover 23. The cross-section of the protrusion 231 shown in Figure 9 is rectangular. This means that the thickness of the protrusion 231 is constant, not gradually changing. When the top cover 23 is welded to the housing 22, any laser light that leaks into the housing is blocked by the protrusion 231. When the protrusion 231 is spaced apart from the sidewall 222, laser light striking the protrusion 231 is reflected off the sidewall 222 of the housing 22. Depending on the angle, the laser light typically reflects back and forth between the protrusion 231 and the sidewall 222. After multiple reflections, the laser light weakens, minimizing the risk of damage to the battery cells 21. Furthermore, the rectangular design ensures that the surface of the protrusion 231 facing the sidewall 222 is parallel to the surface of the sidewall 222 facing the battery cells 21, facilitating assembly. Furthermore, when the protrusion 231 is spaced apart from the side wall 222 , the distance between the protrusion 231 and the side wall 222 remains consistent and does not change, thereby more stably preventing particles from falling.

[0108] The rectangular structure maintains a constant distance between the protrusion and the side wall, better preventing the entry of particles. Even if the laser is reflected, it will be reflected between the side wall of the shell and the protrusion, which is effective in blocking the laser or falling particles when the shell and the top cover are welded.

[0109] In some embodiments, the top cover 23 and the housing 22 are connected by welding, and the protrusion 231 is blocked between the battery cell 21 and at least a portion of the weld between the top cover 23 and the housing 22 .

[0110] The weld seam is where the top cover 23 and the housing 22 are welded. Welding is to fuse the top cover 23 and the housing 22 together at the weld seam. Welding methods include laser welding.

[0111] The welding method can ensure a very stable connection between the top cover 23 and the housing 22 and can also provide a sealing effect.

[0112] As shown in FIG9 , in some embodiments, the protrusion 231 is disposed on the first surface 31 of the top cover 23 . The second surface 32 of the top cover 23 is a plane, and the second surface 32 and the first surface 31 are surfaces of the top cover 23 facing away from each other.

[0113] The first surface 31 of the top cover 23 connects to the housing 22 and faces the housing 22 or the battery cells 21. A portion of the first surface 31 encloses the housing space. The second surface 32 of the top cover 23 faces away from the housing 22 or the battery cells 21. It is disposed opposite the first surface 31, and thus faces away from each other. In Figure 9, the surface of the top cover 23 facing downward is the first surface 31, and the surface facing upward is the second surface 32.

[0114] This arrangement ensures that the overall surface of the battery cell is smooth, making it more suitable for assembly with other components or battery cells.

The top cover 23 is connected to the end of the side wall 222 away from the bottom wall 221. The protrusion 231 is spaced or abutted against the side wall 222 to form a receiving space. When the protrusion 231 is spaced apart from the side wall 222 to form a receiving space, the spacing is no greater than 0.1 mm. The thickness L4 of the protrusion 231 is no greater than 0.5 mm, and the height L5 of the protrusion 231 is no greater than 0.5 mm. The protrusion 231 is formed with a first fillet α and a second fillet β. The first fillet α is the inner corner of the protrusion 231, and the second fillet β is the outer corner of the protrusion 231.
