Abstract
Description
[0001] MOUNTING AND ODOR EXTRACTION ASSEMBLY FOR TOILETS
[0002] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0003] Field of Invention
[0004] The present invention relates to the field of devices, arrangements or means for the extraction or removal of undesired gases or odors from rooms, preferably from bathrooms, and more particularly the invention refers to a mounting and odor extraction assembly for use in toilets, wherein the new assembly can be installed and / or adapted to any type of conventional toilet in a quick, practical and easy way, only by fixing the assembly of the invention to the bathroom floor and then mounting the toilet bowl onto the assembly in a manner that, by means of odor extraction equipment connected to the assembly of the invention, gases and odors from the toilet are extracted, removed and conducted to the sewer discharge pipe without the need of making modifications to the structure of the toilet bowl.
[0005] Description of the prior art
[0006] As is known in the art, toilets do not adequately and completely eliminate the gases or odors that may be generated during their use, which leads to the use of accessories such as aerosols, perfumes, flavorings and other means to try to appease or mitigate the odor. Likewise, the elimination of odors can be carried out by means of extraction means generally located on the ceiling or wall that directs the gases from the interior to the outside. However, not all bathrooms have this system and in turn, eliminating odors involves discharging them into other surrounding environments or into the external environment, which would not be entirely convenient.
[0007] A variety of equipment and means have been developed, to eliminate these odors, that require filters which are clogged prematurely or, there are installations that involve a greater degree of complexity for their implementation and thus allow the extraction of odors and subsequent discharge thereof outside the bathroom environment.
[0008] As a result of the above, the inventor of the present patent application has developed a toilet disclosed in the Argentine Patent Application No. P 20190101102 which is mentioned herein as a reference. In such application, a toilet is described with the bowl having an upper edge provided with the classic perforated ring for flushing washing water and, above the upper edge, with an air suction area to eliminate odors or gases produced during the toilet use. Likewise, each part of the toilet, namely the wash water discharge and the gases suction zone, are connected to a respective part of the toilet backpack, with the suction zone part also being connected to a discharge or drainage to the sewer.
[0009] Although Argentine Patent Application No. P20190101102 has proven to work effectively and has provided a solution to the problems mentioned above, it has the drawback that it was designed to provide a new toilet built entirely with the implementation of the system for eliminating odors, but this extraction system cannot be applied in conventional toilets.
[0010] Based on the above, the inventor of the present patent application has developed an odor extraction equipment which is disclosed in Argentine Patent Application No. P20210100856, mentioned herein as a reference. According to Figure 1 of said Application P20210100856, the toilet odor extractor equipment can be installed in any type of toilet 1. To do so, the equipment comprises at least one gas suction nozzle 2 which is arranged under a seat 3 and on an upper edge 4 of the toilet bowl 1 , wherein the suction nozzle 2 has a suction mouth or inlet.
[0011] Likewise, the equipment is provided with a discharge tube 5 that can be made of a plastic material and that has an upper end connected to said gas suction nozzle 2 although at least one rectangular flat upper connection tube 7. Said discharge tube discharge 5, will allow the circulation of gases coming from the interior of toilet 1 , which previously pass through the suction nozzle and then circulate towards their discharge in the sewer.
[0012] On the other hand, said discharge tube 5 has a lower end 8 connected to a lower portion of the toilet 1. To mount the lower end 8, a hole 9 must be made in a side part of the body of the toilet 1 , particularly in the part after a toilet siphon, or trapway, and before the drainage or discharge pipe that connects to the sewer. It is highlighted that said lower end 8 may have a connection end 12 that will be mounted in said hole 9 of the toilet 1.
[0013] Although Argentine Patent Application P20210100856 has proven to work effectively and provide a solution to the problems mentioned above, making a hole in the bottom of the toilet can be inconvenient if not done carefully. This is due to the ceramic material, which is extremely fragile and due to carelessness it can crack, fissure, break or break more than necessary and expected, and the adjacent empty spaces must then be filled to avoid both liquid and odor losses, because this cannot always be done in a correct and aesthetic manner. In accordance with the above, the inventor of the present invention has continued to research and develop a solution to all the drawbacks mentioned above, by creating a new assembly for connecting an odor extraction or removal system to any toilet, new o in use.
[0014] BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0015] It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a new assembly and odor extraction assembly for toilets which is located between the base of the toilet and the floor of the bathroom, in order to avoid any type of modification in the structure of the toilet that may compromise the correct functioning of odor extractor equipment such as, for example, but not limited to, that one of Patent Application P20210100856.
[0016] It is also an object of the present invention to provide a new assembly for connecting an odor extraction or removal system to any new or used toilet bowl without the need of modifying the toilet bowl but by removing the toilet bowl under use and reinstalling the same onto the bathroom floor by connecting the assembly of the invention between the toilet and the floor to remove and conduct the gases to the sewage without modifying the toilet bowl.
[0017] It is also another object of the present invention to provide an assembly that is fixed to said bathroom floor in a practical, easy and quick way.
[0018] It is yet another object of the present invention to provide an assembly in which any toilet can be mounted without the need for special tools or structural modifications.
[0019] It is yet another object of the present invention to provide an assembly and extraction assembly that is easy to assemble and install, in order to guarantee the correct operation of the odor extractor equipment since it has an odor discharge mouth specifically designed to avoid any modification in conventional toilets.
[0020] Still another object of the invention is a mounting and odor extraction assembly for toilets that comprises: at least one main mounting plate which has an upper plate face that receives a base of a toilet, and a lower plate face that is in direct contact or resting against a bathroom floor surface; wherein, said main mounting plate comprises a main plate discharge mouth that projects from said upper face of plate towards said lower face of plate so that it is aligned and in superior communication with the final development of a siphon or trapway toilet and simultaneously in lower communication with a sewer discharge carried out on the bathroom floor, said upper face of the plate being in turn provided with at least one secondary plate odor discharge mouth which projects internally through said main mounting plate defining an internal odor discharge plate channel.
[0021] BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0022] For better clarity and understanding of the object of the present invention, it has been illustrated in several figures, in which the invention has been represented in one of the preferred embodiments, all by way of example, where:
[0023] Figure 1 shows a side view of the odor extractor equipment of the Argentine Patent Application Serial No. P20210100856 to the present inventor and in accordance with the prior art;
[0024] Figure 2 shows a side view of the odor extraction and mounting assembly according to the present invention, which is mounted between the floor and the toilet;
[0025] Figure 3 shows a top view of the mounting assembly of the invention;
[0026] Figure 4 shows a bottom view of the mounting assembly of the invention;
[0027] Figure 5 shows an enlarged and sectional view of a portion of the assembly of the invention mounted on the bathroom floor; and
[0028] Figure 6 shows a schematic view of a main mounting plate according to another embodiment of the invention, wherein the main mounting plate is comprised of three layers capable of being fixed or adhered together, to form the channels and different openings that define the entrances, exits and internal passages of said main mounting plate of the assembly of the invention.
[0029] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0030] Referring now to the figures, it is seen that the invention consists of a new mounting and odor extraction assembly for toilets which is mounted between the bathroom floor and a toilet bowl, and said assembly allows, in combination with an odor or gases extracting equipment, the removal of odors without the need to make modifications to the lower part of the toilet bowl. It is highlighted that the same reference numbers used in Figure 1 related to the prior art will be used to mention those known parts, and reference numbers starting from 101 will be used for Figures 2 to 6.
[0031] Thus, and according to Figures 2 to 6, the mounting and odor extraction assembly for toilets of the present invention is indicated by the general reference 101 and comprises at least one main mounting plate 102 which has a plate upper face 103 designed to couple to a base of a toilet 1 , and a plate lower face 104 designed to be in direct contact or supported against a surface of a floor P of a bathroom. Although the main mounting plate 102 has been illustrated as having an ovoid-shape, this does not imply a limitation for the invention since other geometric shapes can be considered and used without any inconvenience.
[0032] Likewise, said main mounting plate 102 comprises a main plate discharge or drainage mouth 105 that projects from said plate upper face 103 towards said plate lower face 104 so that it is aligned and in communication with the end or drainage end of a toilet siphon or trapway of the toilet 1 , while simultaneously it is in communication with a discharge or drainage to sewer 106 that is in the floor P of the bathroom. Said main plate discharge or drainage mouth 105 is mounted on said sewer discharge 106 of the bathroom floor P through a lower elastic mounting piece 107 which may be a connection nipple, while this is not a limitation for the invention, and it is located and operatively connected to a lower end end of the toilet siphon or drainage of the toilet bowl 1 by means of an upper elastic mounting piece 108. The inner structure of the toilet, including the toilet trapway and drainage, is not shown because it is well known in the art.
[0033] As can be seen in Figure 5, said lower elastic mounting piece 107 is mounted between the lower part of the perimeter of the main plate discharge mouth 105 and a sewer discharge pipe or elbow 109 provided in said drainage or discharge to sewer 106, so as to provide a seal between the perimeter of the main plate discharge mouth 105, the floor P and the sewer discharge pipe or elbow 109. In addition, said upper elastic mounting piece 108 has a lip perimeter of upper elastic piece 110 that rests on said plate upper face 103 so as to provide a seal between said plate upper face 103 and the siphon and drainage of toilet 1. The upper elastic mounting piece 108 projects inside of said main plate discharge mouth 105 in a way to communicate sealedly and operatively said lower end of the toilet siphon and drainage with said sewer discharge or drainage 106. It is remarked that said main mounting plate 102 is provided with at least a pair of plate fixing through holes 111 that extend from the plate upper face 103 towards the plate lower face 104 and which are arranged at at least one on each side of said main discharge mouth of plate 105 and aligned and coincident on top with some toilet fixing holes O, while at the bottom part the holes are arranged in an aligned and coincident way with some floor fixing holes (not shown), usually practiced on the bathroom floor. Although the floor fixing holes made in the bathroom floor have not been illustrated, it is widely known that any toilet installation involves a pair of floor fixing holes made in the bathroom floor and that allow the fixation of the toilet, and the fixation of the main mounting plate 102 onto the floor.
[0034] Thus, the main mounting plate 102 is placed on the floor P in such a way that the main plate discharge mouth 105 and the sewer discharge 106 are aligned, and the plate fixing through holes 111 are aligned with the floor fixing holes, with said lower elastic mounting piece 107 and said upper elastic mounting piece 108 having been previously mounted in place. Next, the toilet bowl 1 is placed onto the plate upper face 103 of main mounting plate 102 so that the end of the drainage of toilet 1 coincides with said main plate discharge mouth 105, and toilet fixing holes O coincide with the plate through fixing holes 111. Finally, the entire assembly formed by toilet 1 and main plate 102 results fixed through respective fixing screws or bolts (not shown) threadedly passing through said toilet fixing holes O, plate fixing through holes 111 and the fixing holes in the floor.
[0035] In addition, said plate upper face 103 is provided with at least one plate secondary odor discharge mouth 112 which extends internally through said main mounting plate 102 defining a plate internal odor discharge channel 113. Said plate secondary odor discharge mouth 112 may be provided with a secondary mouth connector 114 in which a lower end of a discharge tube 5 of an odor extractor equipment, such as the one disclosed in the above cited Argentine Patent Application P20210100856, is sealedly mounted and connected. Thus, toilet bowl 1 does not need to be perforated to connect tube 5 but the gases are extracted from the toilet bowl by extraction equipment tube 5 and conducted, by outside bowl 1 , directly to the sewer.
[0036] It is remarked that said plate internal odor discharge channel 113 communicates said plate secondary odor discharge mouth 112 with said main plate discharge mouth 105 so that the odors or gases coming from the interior of the toilet 1 are extracted by means of the odor extractor equipment, passing through the discharge tube 5, entering said main mounting plate 102 through said plate secondary odor discharge mouth 112, circulating through said plate internal odor discharge channel 113, reaching said main plate discharge mouth 105 and finally evacuating through the sewer discharge or drainage 106. Thus, channel 113 is designed to be in fluid communication with the sewer drainage (106) once the assembly of the invention is installed between the toilet and the floor.
[0037] As can be seen in Figure 6, said plate internal odor discharge channel 113 extends so as to cover a large part of the section of the main mounting plate 102 communicating said plate secondary odor discharge mouth 112 with said main plate discharge mouth 105. It is remarked that said main mounting plate 102 can comprise, as an alternative embodiment, three layers joined together, as illustrated in Figure 6, with a mounting plate upper layer 115, a mounting plate intermediate layer 116 and a mounting plate lower layer 117. Wherein, said mounting plate upper layer 115 has said plate secondary odor discharge mouth 112, and said mounting plate upper layer 115 together with said mounting plate lower layer 117 comprise respective openings defining the main plate discharge mouth 105 and said plate fixing through holes 111. Thus, said mounting plate intermediate layer 116 comprises said plate internal odor discharge channel 113. The three mounting plate layers 115, 116 and 117 are duly joined or adhered to each other forming a single structure that defines said main mounting plate 102. Although, said plate main assembly 102 formed by three layers has been illustrated as an example, this does not imply that the invention is limited to said arrangement since it can be made from a single body plate without any inconvenience.
[0038] Plate layers 115, 116 and 117 can be construed as being cut sections of a solid body of plate 02, which sections are taken to show the interior of plate 102 or layers 115, 116 and 117 even can be independent plates that are adhered or fixed in any way to each other to form the main plate 102.
[0039] In this way, modifications to the structure of the toilet that could later compromise the normal functioning of the odor extractor equipment are not necessary. Thus, a simple mounting and odor extraction assembly for toilets is provided capable of installing an odor extraction equipment in a toilet new or in use already, without the need of making modifications or using special tools, making its installation much more practical, quick and easy.
[0040] It is remarked that, although it has been described that the mounting and odor extraction assembly of the invention is arranged separately from the toilets, allowing any conventional toilet already in use to be adapted to the extractor equipment, this does not imply a limitation for the invention, since it can be installed entirely with a new toilet without any inconvenience. Likewise, said main mounting plate can be made of the same material as the toilets or be made of another material without any inconvenience.
