[0001] The present invention relates to a vehicle lamp having a heat sink that functions to dissipate heat emitted from a first light source for high beam and a second light source for low beam.
[0002] Some vehicle lamps are configured to be able to emit high beams and low beams, and the optical axis of the light source can be adjusted by operating an optical axis adjustment mechanism (see, for example, Patent Documents 1 and 2).
[0003] In the vehicle lamp described in Patent Document 1, a substrate is attached to a heat sink that has a heat dissipation function, and heat generated when the light source is turned on is dissipated by the heat sink. The heat sink is attached to a bracket, and the bracket is connected to the lamp housing via an optical axis adjustment mechanism, which makes it possible to adjust the optical axis of the light source.
[0004] In the vehicle lamp described in Patent Document 2, a high beam is emitted from a first lamp unit, a low beam is emitted from a second lamp unit, and heat generated when the light source is turned on is dissipated by heat sinks provided in the first lamp unit and the second lamp unit, respectively. The heat sinks are connected to the lamp housing via an optical axis adjustment mechanism, and the optical axis of the light source can be adjusted by the optical axis adjustment mechanism.

[0015] Hereinafter, a vehicle lamp according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. The vehicle lamp will be described below as being mounted on a motorcycle. However, the vehicle lamp according to the present invention can also be applied to a vehicle lamp mounted on a vehicle other than a motorcycle.
[0016] In the following, a vehicle lamp having the functions of a headlamp, a turn signal lamp, and a position lamp will be described as an example, but it is sufficient that the vehicle lamp of the present invention has at least the function of a headlamp.
[0017] <General Configuration of Vehicle Lamp> First, the general configuration of a vehicle lamp 1 will be described (see FIGS. 1 to 4).
[0018] A vehicle lamp 1 comprises a lamp housing 2 in which all parts are integrally formed, and a cover 3 attached to the lamp housing 2 (see FIG. 1). The lamp housing 2 and the cover 3 form a lamp outer casing 4. The internal space of the lamp outer casing 4 is formed as a lamp chamber. An extension (not shown) is arranged in the lamp chamber.
[0019] A mounting protrusion 2a protruding forward is provided at approximately the center of the lamp housing 2 (see FIG. 2). The lamp housing 2 is provided with a pivot connection portion 2b, two nut support portions 2c, and two screw connection portions 2d at positions around the mounting protrusion 2a. The nut support portion 2c and the screw connection portion 2d are located in close proximity. One screw connection portion 2d is located directly beside the pivot connection portion 2b, and the other screw connection portion 2d is located directly below the pivot connection portion 2b. A cable insertion hole 2e is formed at the lower end of the lamp housing 2.
[0020] The lamp chamber is provided with a headlamp unit 5, a pair of turn signal lamp units 6, and a pair of position lamp units 7 (see Figures 3 and 4). The headlamp unit 5 is located in the center in the left-right direction, the turn signal lamp units 6 are located on both the left and right sides of the headlamp unit 5, and the position lamp units 7 are located on the left and right sides in front of the headlamp unit 5.
[0021] A control board 8, which is located in a lamp chamber, is attached to the inner surface (front surface) of the lamp housing 2, facing forward and backward. A relay connector 8a is provided on the front side of the control board 8. The control board 8 has the function of controlling each part of the headlamp unit 5, turn signal lamp unit 6, and position lamp unit 7.
[0022] The headlamp unit 5 is disposed in front of the control board 8. The headlamp unit 5 is configured by attaching predetermined parts to a heat sink 9. Attached to the heat sink 9 are a first substrate 10, a first inner lens 11, a second substrate 12, a reflector 13, and a second inner lens 14.
[0023] The first substrate 10 and the second substrate 12 are attached to the front surface of the heat sink 9 while being spaced apart from each other in the vertical direction. A first power supply path (not shown) to which a first light source 15 is connected is formed on the front surface of the first substrate 10, and a second power supply path (not shown) to which a plurality of second light sources 16 are connected is formed on the front surface of the second substrate 12.
[0024] In the vehicle lamp 1, predetermined circuits are formed on the first substrate 10 and the second substrate 12, but for example, the first light source 15 and the second light source 16 may be mounted on the front surface of the heat sink 9 via an insulating sheet or the like with high thermal conductivity.
[0025] A first connection terminal 10a is provided at the upper end of the first substrate 10, and a second connection terminal 12a is provided at the lower end of the second substrate 12. The first connection terminal 10a and the second connection terminal 12a may be provided as, for example, card edge type connection terminals.
[0026] The turn signal lamp unit 6 has a turn signal substrate 17 and a turn signal inner lens 18, and a plurality of turn signal light sources 19 are mounted on the front surface of the turn signal substrate 17. The turn signal lamp unit 6 is attached to the lamp housing 2 by screws or the like, and the turn signal light sources 19 are covered from the front by the turn signal inner lens 18.
[0027] The light emitted from the turn light source 19 is controlled by the turn inner lens 18, passes through the turn inner lens 18 and the cover 3, and is irradiated to the outside.
[0028] The position lamp unit 7 has a position board 20, a bracket 21, and a position inner lens 22, and a plurality of position light sources 23 are mounted on the front surface of the position board 20. The position lamp unit 7 has the position board 20 attached to the rear surface of the bracket 21, and the position inner lens 22 attached to the front surface of the bracket 21. The position lamp unit 7 is attached to the lamp housing 2 by screws or the like.
[0029] The bracket 21 is formed with a plurality of light transmission holes 21a through which light emitted from the position light source 23 passes. When the position inner lens 22 is attached to the front surface of the bracket 21, the light transmission holes 21a are covered by the position inner lens 22 from the front.
[0030] The light emitted from the position light source 23 is controlled by the position inner lens 22, passes through the position inner lens 22 and the cover 3, and is irradiated to the outside.
[0031] <Specific Configuration of Headlamp Unit, etc.> Next, specific configurations of the headlamp unit 5, etc. will be described (see FIGS. 3 to 8).
[0032] The heat sink 9 is composed of a main body 24 formed in a generally rectangular shape that is elongated in the front-to-rear direction, and three connecting portions 25 that protrude laterally from the main body 24 (see FIGS. 5 and 6).
[0033] The main body 24 has a base surface 26 facing in the front-rear direction and various parts protruding forward or rearward from the base surface 26 .
[0034] Standing wall portions 27 functioning as reinforcing ribs are provided on the outer periphery of the heat sink 9, except for a portion of the entire periphery. The standing wall portions 27 are provided on the front and rear sides of the heat sink 9, with each portion protruding forward or rearward from the base surface portion 26.
[0035] An insertion hole 26a is formed in the center in the up-down direction of the base surface portion 26. A mounting protrusion 2a provided on the lamp housing 2 is inserted into the insertion hole 26a of the base surface portion 26 from the rear. At least one of the brackets 21 of the position lamp unit 7 is attached to the tip of the mounting protrusion 2a by screwing or the like. A retaining notch 26b that opens upward and penetrates from front to rear is formed in the upper end of the base surface portion 26.
[0036] A first screw mounting hole 28 is formed near the upper end on the front side of the heat sink 9. First positioning protrusions 29 that protrude forward from the base surface portion 26 are provided on both the left and right sides of the first screw mounting hole 28 on the front side of the heat sink 9.
[0037] On the front side of the heat sink 9, there are provided a plurality of receiving projections 30 each protruding forward from the base surface portion 26, two first positioning pins 31, and two first mounting bosses 32 functioning as first mounting portions. The first positioning pins 31 and the first mounting bosses 32 are provided spaced apart on the left and right.
[0038] A second screw mounting hole 33 is formed near the lower end on the front side of the heat sink 9. Second positioning protrusions 34 protruding forward from the base surface portion 26 are provided on opposite sides of the second screw mounting hole 33 on the front side of the heat sink 9.
[0039] Two second positioning pins 35 and two second mounting bosses 36 that function as second mounting portions are provided on the front side of the heat sink 9, each protruding forward from the base surface portion 26. The second positioning pins 35 and the second mounting bosses 36 are provided spaced apart on the left and right.
[0040] A plurality of heat dissipation fins 37 are provided on the rear side of the heat sink 9. The heat dissipation fins 37 protrude rearward from the base surface portion 26, are spaced apart from one another in the vertical direction, and are arranged side by side on the left and right, extending vertically.
[0041] The connecting portions 25 are provided, for example, two on the upper side and one on the lower side, and have connecting holes 25a that penetrate from front to rear.
[0042] The heat sink 9 is connected to the lamp housing 2 by an optical axis adjustment mechanism 38 (see FIGS. 3 and 4). The optical axis adjustment mechanism 38 is composed of two self-locking nuts 39, two adjusting screws 40, one pivot receiver 41, and one pivot shaft 42. In the vehicle lamp 1, the lamp housing 2 may be connected to the vehicle body via the optical axis adjustment mechanism. In this case, the heat sink 9 may be supported by or attached to the lamp housing 2.
[0043] The front portion of the self-locking nut 39 is connected to the connecting portion 25 with its front portion inserted through the connecting hole 25a, and a portion of the self-locking nut 39 is supported by the nut support portion 2c so as to be movable in the front-rear direction. The front portion of the self-locking nut 39 is tiltable relative to the connecting portion 25.
[0044] Approximately the front half of the adjusting screw 40 is provided as a threaded shaft portion 40a, the portion near the rear end is provided as a supported portion 40b, and the rear end is provided as an operating portion 40c. The adjusting screw 40 is supported by the lamp housing 2 so as to be rotatable but immovable in the axial direction, with the threaded shaft portion 40a threadedly engaged with the self-locking nut 39 and the supported portion 40b inserted into the screw connecting portion 2d. The operating portion 40c is located on the rear side of the lamp housing 2.
[0045] The pivot receiver 41 is connected to the connecting portion 25. The pivot shaft 42 has a spherical portion 42a at the front end and a connecting portion 42b at approximately the rear half. The spherical portion 42a of the pivot shaft 42 is connected to the pivot receiver 41 in a relatively rotatable state, and the connecting portion 42b is connected to the pivot connecting portion 2b.
[0046] In the optical axis adjustment mechanism 38, when one operating portion 40c is rotated to rotate one adjusting screw 40 in the axial direction, one self-locking nut 39 is moved in the front-to-rear direction relative to the nut support portion 2c in accordance with the rotation of the adjusting screw 40. Therefore, the heat sink 9 is tilted relative to the lamp housing 2 around the axis of the line segment connecting the pivot receiver 41 and the other self-locking nut 39, and aiming adjustment (optical axis adjustment) in the up-down direction is performed.
[0047] On the other hand, when the other operating portion 40c is rotated to rotate the other adjusting screw 40 in the axial direction, the other self-locking nut 39 is moved in the front-to-rear direction relative to the nut support portion 2c in accordance with the rotation of the adjusting screw 40. Therefore, the heat sink 9 is tilted relative to the lamp housing 2 around the line segment connecting the pivot receiver 41 and one self-locking nut 39 as an axis, and aiming adjustment in the left-to-right direction is performed.
[0048] In the headlamp unit 5, the first substrate 10, the first inner lens 11 and the first light source 15 are for high beam, and the second substrate 12, the reflector 13, the second inner lens 14 and the second light source 16 are for low beam.
[0049] The first substrate 10 is formed with a first screw insertion hole 43, a first round hole positioning insertion hole 44, and a first oblong hole positioning insertion hole 45, which are positioned on the left and right of the first screw insertion hole 43 (see FIG. 6 ). The first round hole positioning insertion hole 44 is formed in the shape of a round hole, and the first oblong hole positioning insertion hole 45 is formed in the shape of an oblong hole. For example, the first round hole positioning insertion hole 44 is positioned on the right side, and the first oblong hole positioning insertion hole 45 is positioned on the left side, and the first round hole positioning insertion hole 44 is positioned below the first oblong hole positioning insertion hole 45.
[0050] The first substrate 10 is positioned relative to the heat sink 9 by inserting the first positioning protrusion 29 into the first round hole positioning insertion hole 44 and the first long hole positioning insertion hole 45, and then the first substrate 10 is attached to the heat sink 9 by threading an attachment screw (not shown) inserted into the first screw insertion hole 43 into the first attachment screw hole 28.
[0051] The first inner lens 11 is integrally formed with a control lens portion 11a that is formed in a forward convex shape and controls light, and a plate-shaped mounting plate portion 11b that extends from the control lens portion 11a and faces in the front-to-rear direction.
[0052] Two first mounting holes 46, a first round hole positioning hole 47, and a first oblong hole positioning hole 48 are formed in the mounting plate portion 11b of the first inner lens 11. The two first mounting holes 46 are positioned spaced apart on the left and right. The first round hole positioning hole 47 and the first oblong hole positioning hole 48 are positioned on opposite sides of the center portion M1 of the first inner lens 11. For example, the first round hole positioning hole 47 is positioned diagonally above and to the right of the center portion M1, and the first oblong hole positioning hole 48 is positioned diagonally below and to the left of the center portion M1.
[0053] The first inner lens 11 is positioned relative to the heat sink 9 by inserting the first positioning pin 31 into the first round hole positioning hole 47 and the first long hole positioning hole 48, and then the first inner lens 11 is attached to the heat sink 9 by threading an attachment screw (not shown) inserted into the first attachment hole 46 into the first attachment boss 32.
[0054] When the first inner lens 11 is attached to the heat sink 9, the first inner lens 11 is pressed against the receiving protrusion 30, and the position of the first inner lens 11 in the front-to-rear direction is determined. Furthermore, when the first inner lens 11 is attached to the heat sink 9, the first light source 15 mounted on the first substrate 10 is covered from the front by the first inner lens 11.
[0055] The second substrate 12 is formed with a second screw insertion hole 49, a second round hole positioning insertion hole 50, and a second oblong hole positioning insertion hole 51, and the second round hole positioning insertion hole 50 and the second oblong hole positioning insertion hole 51 are positioned on the left and right of the second screw insertion hole 49. The second round hole positioning insertion hole 50 is formed in the shape of a round hole, and the second oblong hole positioning insertion hole 51 is formed in the shape of an oblong hole, and for example, the second round hole positioning insertion hole 50 is positioned on the right side and the second oblong hole positioning insertion hole 51 is positioned on the left side, and the second round hole positioning insertion hole 50 is positioned above the second oblong hole positioning insertion hole 51.
[0056] As described above, in the first substrate 10 and the second substrate 12, the first round hole positioning insertion hole 44 is located on the right side and the first long hole positioning insertion hole 45 is located on the left side, the first round hole positioning insertion hole 44 is located below the first long hole positioning insertion hole 45, the second round hole positioning insertion hole 50 is located on the right side and the second long hole positioning insertion hole 51 is located on the left side, and the second round hole positioning insertion hole 50 is located above the second long hole positioning insertion hole 51.
[0057] Therefore, in the first substrate 10 and the second substrate 12, the first oblong hole positioning insertion hole 45 and the second oblong hole positioning insertion hole 51 are formed on the same side in the left-right direction, and the vertical positional relationship between the first round hole positioning insertion hole 44 and the first oblong hole positioning insertion hole 45 is opposite to the vertical positional relationship between the second round hole positioning insertion hole 50 and the second oblong hole positioning insertion hole 51.
[0058] Furthermore, in the vehicle lamp 1, as long as the first oblong hole positioning insertion hole 45 and the second oblong hole positioning insertion hole 51 are formed on the same side in the left-right direction and the vertical positional relationship between the first round hole positioning insertion hole 44 and the first oblong hole positioning insertion hole 45 is opposite to the vertical positional relationship between the second round hole positioning insertion hole 50 and the second oblong hole positioning insertion hole 51, the positions at which the first round hole positioning insertion hole 44, the first oblong hole positioning insertion hole 45, the second round hole positioning insertion hole 50 and the second oblong hole positioning insertion hole 51 are formed are arbitrary.
[0059] The second substrate 12 is positioned relative to the heat sink 9 by inserting the second positioning protrusions 34 into the second round hole positioning insertion holes 50 and the second long hole positioning insertion holes 51, respectively, and then attached to the heat sink 9 by threading an attachment screw (not shown) inserted into the second screw insertion hole 49 into the second attachment screw hole 33.
[0060] As described above, the first long hole positioning insertion hole 45 and the second long hole positioning insertion hole 51 are formed on the same side in the left-right direction in the first substrate 10 and the second substrate 12, so that the positional accuracy of the first substrate 10 and the second substrate 12 relative to the heat sink 9 is increased, and a highly accurate light distribution pattern can be formed for the high beam formed by the combined light when light is emitted from the first light source 15 and the second light source 16.
[0061] Furthermore, in the first substrate 10 and the second substrate 12, the vertical positional relationship between the first round hole positioning insertion hole 44 and the first long hole positioning insertion hole 45 is opposite to the vertical positional relationship between the second round hole positioning insertion hole 50 and the second long hole positioning insertion hole 51, so that incorrect assembly of the first substrate 10 and the second substrate 12 to the heat sink 9 due to confusion between the two can be prevented.
[0062] The reflector 13 is integrally formed with a base portion 52 facing in the front-to-rear direction, a light-shielding wall portion 53 extending forward from the upper end of the base portion 52, and two irradiation protrusions 54 protruding from the base portion 52 below the light-shielding wall portion 53 (see Figures 6 and 7).
[0063] A mounting notch 52a that opens downward is formed in the center of the base portion 52 in the left-right direction. A first reflecting surface 52b is formed above the mounting notch 52a in the base portion 52, and the first reflecting surface 52b has a semicircular arc shape that convex upward. The first reflecting surface 52b is formed as a slope that is inclined with respect to the horizontal and vertical directions. Since the first reflecting surface 52b on the base portion 52 has a semicircular arc shape that convex upward, a space 52c is formed inside the first reflecting surface 52b. The space 52c is penetrated from front to back, opens downward, and communicates with the mounting notch 52a.
[0064] Two insertion holes 55 are formed in the base portion 52, spaced apart from each other on the left and right, and the diameter of the insertion holes 55 is slightly larger than the diameter of the second mounting boss 36. Two positioning through holes 56 are formed in the base portion 52, and the two positioning through holes 56 are located above one insertion hole 55 and below the other insertion hole 55, respectively.
[0065] The light-shielding wall portion 53 has the function of blocking light emitted from the second light source 16 and traveling upward. Reflecting steps 53a are formed on the lower surface of the light-shielding wall portion 53, which reflect at least a portion of the light emitted from the second light source 16 downward. The reflecting steps 53a are formed, for example, by a plurality of cylindrical shapes lined up in the left-right direction. The upper surface of the light-shielding wall portion 53 may be textured or the like. By textured or the like on the upper surface of the light-shielding wall portion 53, it is possible to prevent the light-shielding wall portion 53 from unnecessarily sticking to a mold when the mold is used to remove the light-shielding wall portion 53.
[0066] The irradiation protrusions 54 are formed in a generally triangular prism shape and protrude toward each other from the lower end of the first reflecting surface 52b. The irradiation protrusions 54 have the function of reflecting a portion of the light emitted from the second light source 16 to form an overhead sign light. The inward-facing surfaces of the two irradiation protrusions 54 are formed as second reflecting surfaces 54a.
[0067] The reflector 13 is positioned relative to the heat sink 9 by inserting the second positioning pins 35 into the positioning through holes 56 , and the second mounting bosses 36 are inserted into the insertion holes 55 .
[0068] The second inner lens 14 is integrally formed with a control lens portion 14a that is formed in a forward convex shape and controls light, and a plate-shaped mounting plate portion 14b that extends from the control lens portion 14a and faces in the front-rear direction. A cylindrical lens step (not shown) is formed on the rear surface of the control lens portion 14a.
[0069] Two second mounting holes 57, a second round hole positioning hole 58, and a second oblong hole positioning hole 59 are formed in the mounting plate portion 14b of the second inner lens 14. The two second mounting holes 57 are positioned spaced apart on the left and right. The second round hole positioning hole 58 and the second oblong hole positioning hole 59 are positioned on opposite sides of the center portion M2 of the second inner lens 14. For example, the second round hole positioning hole 58 is positioned diagonally below and to the right of the center portion M2, and the second oblong hole positioning hole 59 is positioned diagonally above and to the left of the center portion M2.
[0070] As described above, in the first inner lens 11 and the second inner lens 14, the first round hole positioning hole 47 is positioned diagonally above the right of the central portion M1, the first long hole positioning hole 48 is positioned diagonally below the left of the central portion M1, the second round hole positioning hole 58 is positioned diagonally below the right of the central portion M2, and the second long hole positioning hole 59 is positioned diagonally above the left of the central portion M2.
[0071] Therefore, the vertical positional relationship between the first round positioning hole 47 and the first oblong positioning hole 48 is opposite to the vertical positional relationship between the second round positioning hole 58 and the second oblong positioning hole 59 .
[0072] In the vehicle lamp 1, the first round positioning hole 47 may be located diagonally below and to the right of the center M1, the first oblong positioning hole 48 may be located diagonally above and to the left of the center M1, the second round positioning hole 58 may be located diagonally above and to the right of the center M2, and the second oblong positioning hole 59 may be located diagonally below and to the left of the center M2. Also, as long as the vertical positional relationship between the first round positioning hole 47 and the first oblong positioning hole 48 is opposite to the vertical positional relationship between the second round positioning hole 58 and the second oblong positioning hole 59, the first round positioning hole 47 and the second round hole positioning hole 58 may be located to the left of the centers M1 and M2, respectively, and the first oblong positioning hole 48 and the second oblong positioning hole 59 may be located to the right of the centers M1 and M2, respectively.
[0073] The second inner lens 14 is positioned relative to the heat sink 9 by inserting the second positioning pins 35 into the second round hole positioning holes 58 and the second long hole positioning holes 59, and then the second inner lens 14 is attached to the heat sink 9 by threading an attachment screw (not shown) inserted into the second mounting hole 57 into the second mounting boss 36.
[0074] At this time, the second inner lens 14 is attached to the heat sink 9 in a state where it covers the reflector 13, and the reflector 13 is attached to the heat sink 9 by fastening together with the second inner lens 14 using mounting screws threaded into the second mounting bosses 36.
[0075] When the reflector 13 is attached to the heat sink 9, the second light source 16 is positioned in the positioning notch 52a. Furthermore, when the reflector 13 is attached to the heat sink 9, the reflector 13 is pressed against the heat sink 9, and the position of the reflector 13 in the front-to-rear direction is determined.
[0076] When the second inner lens 14 is attached to the heat sink 9, the second inner lens 14 is pressed against a part of the reflector 13, thereby determining the position of the second inner lens 14 in the front-to-rear direction. Furthermore, when the second inner lens 14 is attached to the heat sink 9, the second light source 16 mounted on the second substrate 12 is covered from the front by the second inner lens 14.
[0077] As described above, in the first inner lens 11 and the second inner lens 14, the first long hole positioning hole 48 and the second long hole positioning hole 59 are formed on the same side in the left-right direction, so that the positional accuracy of the first inner lens 11 and the second inner lens 14 relative to the heat sink 9 is increased, and a highly accurate light distribution pattern can be formed for the high beam formed by the combined light when light is emitted from the first light source 15 and the second light source 16.
[0078] Furthermore, in the first inner lens 11 and the second inner lens 14, the vertical positional relationship between the first round hole positioning hole 47 and the first long hole positioning hole 48 is opposite to the vertical positional relationship between the second round hole positioning hole 58 and the second long hole positioning hole 59, so that incorrect assembly of the first inner lens 11 and the second inner lens 14 to the heat sink 9 due to confusion between the two can be prevented.
[0079] A power supply cable 60 is connected to a first connection terminal 10a provided on the first substrate 10 and a second connection terminal 12a provided on the second substrate 12 (see FIG. 3 ). Therefore, the first power supply path formed on the first substrate 10 and the second power supply path formed on the second substrate 12 are connected to the power supply cable 60 via the first connection terminal 10a and the second connection terminal 12a, respectively, and power from a power supply circuit (battery) of the vehicle (not shown) is supplied to the first light source 15 via the power supply cable 60 and the first power supply path, and to the second light source 16 via the power supply cable 60 and the second power supply path. As described above, the first substrate 10 and the second substrate 12 are attached to the front surface of the heat sink 9, and the first power supply path formed on the first substrate 10 and the second power supply path formed on the second substrate 12 are also attached to the front surface of the heat sink 9.
[0080] In the vehicle lamp 1, the first power supply line and the second power supply line may be formed directly on the heat sink 9. That is, the first power supply line and the second power supply line may be attached to the heat sink 9.
[0081] The power supply cable 60 is bifurcated, with a first connector 60a and a second connector 60b provided at one end and a power supply connector 60c provided at the other end.
[0082] With the first board 10 and the second board 12 attached to the heat sink 9, the first connector 60a of the power supply cable 60 is inserted from above into the first connection terminal 10a and connected thereto, and the second connector 60b is inserted from below into the second connection terminal 12a and connected thereto. Furthermore, the power supply connector 60c of the power supply cable 60 is connected to the relay connector 8a of the control board 8.
[0083] The control board 8 is connected to a power supply circuit (battery) (not shown) of the vehicle by a cable (not shown) that is inserted into the cable insertion hole 2e of the lamp housing 2. The control board 8 is also connected to the turn board 17 and the position board 20 by other cables (not shown).
[0084] As described above, in the vehicle lamp 1, the power supply cable 60 is connected in the vertical direction to the first connection terminal 10a and the second connection terminal 12a, and the first inner lens 11 and the second inner lens 14 are attached to the heat sink 9 at the first mounting boss 32 and the second mounting boss 36, which are positioned spaced apart on the left and right, respectively.
[0085] Therefore, since the connection to the first connection terminal 10a and the second connection terminal 12a of the power supply cable 60 is performed in the vertical direction, the first connector 60a and the second connector 60b are less likely to interfere with the first mounting boss 32 and the second mounting boss 36 during the connection work to the first connection terminal 10a and the second connection terminal 12a of the power supply cable 60, thereby improving the workability of the connection work to the first connection terminal 10a and the second connection terminal 12a of the power supply cable 60.
[0086] In the vehicle lamp 1, the required components such as the first board 10 and the second board 12 are attached to the heat sink 9, and the power supply cable 60 is configured as a single unit with the first connector 60a and the second connector 60b connected to the first connection terminal 10a of the first board 10 and the second connection terminal 12a of the second board 12, respectively. At this time, a portion of the power supply cable 60 is inserted from above into a holding notch 26b formed in the base surface portion 26 of the heat sink 9, and is temporarily held by the heat sink 9.
[0087] Therefore, the power supply cable 60 does not hang down excessively from the heat sink 9, and load is unlikely to be applied to the first connection terminal 10a or the second connection terminal 12a, so that the power supply cable 60, the first board 10, and the second board 12 can be protected.
[0088] <Light irradiation state> In the headlamp unit 5 configured as described above, the light A emitted from the first light source 15 is controlled by the first inner lens 11, passes through the first inner lens 11 and the cover 3, and is irradiated to the outside as high beam light (see Figure 9).
[0089] Furthermore, the light B emitted from the second light source 16 is controlled by the second inner lens 14, passes through the second inner lens 14 and the cover 3, and is irradiated to the outside as low beam light.
[0090] When light B is emitted from the second light source 16, a low-beam light distribution pattern LP is formed by light B1 and light B2, excluding a portion of light B (see FIGS. 9 and 10). Note that Fig. 10 shows the low-beam light distribution pattern LP projected, for example, by light of 500 candela or more projected onto a screen 25 m away. Note that the light distribution pattern LP is a substantially horizontal line with its upper edge positioned below the horizontal line H.
[0091] Light B1 is direct light directed forward from the second light source 16, is controlled by the second inner lens 14 without being reflected by the reflector 13, is transmitted through the cover 3 as light that forms the low beam light distribution pattern LP, and is irradiated toward the outside. Light B2 is light directed diagonally upward from the second light source 16, is reflected diagonally downward and forward by the first reflecting surface 52b of the reflector 13, is controlled by the second inner lens 14, is transmitted through the cover 3, and is irradiated toward the outside as light that forms the low beam light distribution pattern LP.
[0092] At this time, the light is controlled to spread in the left-right direction by the cylindrical lens steps formed on the rear surface of the control lens portion 14a, and the light is irradiated toward a wide area in the left-right direction.
[0093] When light B is emitted, a portion of light B, light B3, is reflected diagonally upward toward the front by the second reflecting surfaces 54a of the two irradiation protrusions 54 of the reflector 13, controlled by the second inner lens 14, transmitted through the cover 3, and irradiated toward the outside as light that forms the light distribution pattern S of the overhead sign.
[0094] When light B is emitted from the second light source 16, a portion of the light travels upward, but this upwardly directed light is prevented from traveling further upward by the light-shielding wall portion 53 of the reflector 13. At this time, if there is downwardly directed light among the light emitted from the first light source 15, this downwardly directed light is prevented from traveling further downward by the light-shielding wall portion 53 of the reflector 13.
[0095] Therefore, the light-shielding wall portion 53 prevents the light emitted from the second light source 16 from entering the first light source 15 side and also prevents the light emitted from the first light source 15 from entering the second light source 16 side, so that appropriate light distribution patterns can be formed for the light emitted from the first light source 15 and the light emitted from the second light source 16.
[0096] Furthermore, the light emitted from the second light source 16 and traveling upward is prevented from traveling further upward by the light-shielding wall portion 53 of the reflector 13, but since a reflection step 53a is formed on the underside of the light-shielding wall portion 53, the light that reaches the light-shielding wall portion 53 is reflected by the reflection step 53a.
[0097] The light reflected by the reflecting step 53a is directed downward, for example, in a predetermined direction between a downward diagonal front and a downward diagonal rear. In this case, if the vehicle is a two-wheeled or three-wheeled vehicle such as a motorcycle, the light is irradiated onto the road surface near the driver's feet or near the front wheel.
[0098] Therefore, the reflective step 53a formed on the shading wall portion 53 reflects at least a portion of the light emitted from the second light source 16 downward, thereby making effective use of light and improving visibility and safety for the driver.
[0099] The reflecting step 53a also has the function of suppressing the occurrence of so-called point light, which occurs when light emitted from the second light source 16 is irradiated in an unintended direction by the second inner lens 14.
[0100] On the other hand, when light A is emitted from the first light source 15, light B is simultaneously emitted from the second light source 16, and a high beam light distribution pattern HP is formed by the combined light of light A and light B (see FIGS. 9 and 11). Note that FIG. 11 shows the high beam light distribution pattern HP projected, for example, by light of 500 candela or more projected onto a screen 25 m away.
[0101] As described above, when light is emitted from the first light source 15 and the second light source 16, heat is generated in the first light source 15, the second light source 16, the first substrate 10, and the second substrate 12, and the generated heat is transferred to the heat sink 9 and dissipated mainly from the heat dissipation fins 37 of the heat sink 9. Therefore, a rise in temperature of the first light source 15 and the second light source 16 is suppressed, and good operating conditions of the first light source 15 and the second light source 16 are ensured.
[0102] <Summary> As described above, the vehicle lamp 1 comprises a heat sink 9 having a function of releasing heat, a first light source 15 for high beam, a second light source 16 for low beam, a first power supply path attached to the heat sink 9 and supplying power to the first light source 15, a second power supply path attached to the heat sink 9 and supplying power to the second light source 16, a first inner lens 11 attached to the heat sink 9 and controlling the light emitted from the first light source 15, and a second inner lens 14 attached to the heat sink 9 and controlling the light emitted from the second light source 16.
[0103] Therefore, since the components for the high beam and the components for the low beam are attached to the heat sink 9, which is a single member, the assembly work of the components can be simplified.
[0104] Furthermore, since the components for the high beam and the components for the low beam can be attached to the heat sink 9, which is a single component, the number of components can be reduced and the accuracy of adjusting the optical axis by the optical axis adjustment mechanism 38 can be improved.
[0105] Furthermore, the first light source 15 and the second light source 16 are positioned apart in the vertical direction, with the first light source 15 for high beam being positioned above the second light source 16 for low beam.
[0106] Therefore, since the first light source 15 for high beam is positioned above the second light source 16 for low beam, it becomes easier to direct the light emitted from the first light source 15 toward a distant location, and the design of the vehicle lamp 1 can be simplified while ensuring appropriate optical performance.
[0107] Furthermore, a reflector 13 having a first reflecting surface 52 b that reflects light emitted from the second light source 16 toward the second inner lens 14 is attached to the heat sink 9 .
[0108] Therefore, the light emitted from the second light source 16 is reflected by the first reflecting surface 52b of the reflector 13 and is irradiated in a controlled manner by the second inner lens 14, so that the incident angle and amount of light on the second inner lens 14 can be appropriately controlled to form a good light distribution pattern.
[0109] However, the vehicle lamps described in Patent Documents 1 and 2 are configured to be able to emit high beams and low beams, and the number of components for the high beam and the low beam increases, which can easily lead to a complex structure.
[0110] Furthermore, it is desirable to improve the functionality of such vehicle lamps in terms of the state of light irradiation.
[0111] As described above, in the vehicle lamp 1, the reflector 13 has a base portion 52 on which a first reflecting surface 52b is formed, a light-shielding wall portion 53 extending forward from the base portion 52, and an irradiation protrusion 54 on which a second reflecting surface 54a is formed for reflecting a portion of the light emitted from the second light source 16 and irradiating overhead sign light, and the base portion 52, the light-shielding wall portion 53 and the irradiation protrusion 54 are integrally formed.
[0112] Therefore, each part is integrally formed to constitute the reflector 13, and a part of the light emitted from the second light source 16 is reflected by the first reflecting surface 52b of the reflector 13 and irradiated as low beam light, and another part of the light emitted from the second light source 16 is reflected by the second reflecting surface 54a of the reflector 13 and irradiated as overhead sign light. This makes it possible to reduce the number of parts and improve functionality regarding the light irradiation state.
[0113] In addition, since the first reflecting surface 52b and the second reflecting surface 54a are positioned above the second light source 16, the first reflecting surface 52b and the second reflecting surface 54a that reflect the light emitted from the second light source 16 are positioned together above the second light source 16, so that the reflector 13 can be made smaller while still ensuring the desired light emission state.
