Description

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MAKING PERSISTENT SEARCH IN THE METAVERSE TO SHOW SPATIAL ANCHOR INFORMATION

[0001] The present invention relates generally to the field of digital world technologies and more particularly to a method and a system for making a persistent search in the digital world to show spatial anchor information to users.

[0002] 5G mobile communication technologies define broad frequency bands such that high transmission rates and new services are possible, and can be implemented not only in "Sub 6GHz" bands such as 3.5GHz, but also in "Above 6GHz" bands referred to as mmWave including 28GHz and 39GHz. In addition, it has been considered to implement 6G mobile communication technologies (referred to as Beyond 5G systems) in terahertz bands (for example, 95GHz to 3THz bands) in order to accomplish transmission rates fifty times faster than 5G mobile communication technologies and ultra-low latencies one-tenth of 5G mobile communication technologies.

[0003] At the beginning of the development of 5G mobile communication technologies, in order to support services and to satisfy performance requirements in connection with enhanced Mobile BroadBand (eMBB), Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communications (URLLC), and massive Machine-Type Communications (mMTC), there has been ongoing standardization regarding beamforming and massive MIMO for mitigating radio-wave path loss and increasing radio-wave transmission distances in mmWave, supporting numerologies (for example, operating multiple subcarrier spacings) for efficiently utilizing mmWave resources and dynamic operation of slot formats, initial access technologies for supporting multi-beam transmission and broadbands, definition and operation of BWP (BandWidth Part), new channel coding methods such as a LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) code for large amount of data transmission and a polar code for highly reliable transmission of control information, L2 pre-processing, and network slicing for providing a dedicated network specialized to a specific service.

[0004] Currently, there are ongoing discussions regarding improvement and performance enhancement of initial 5G mobile communication technologies in view of services to be supported by 5G mobile communication technologies, and there has been physical layer standardization regarding technologies such as V2X (Vehicle-to-everything) for aiding driving determination by autonomous vehicles based on information regarding positions and states of vehicles transmitted by the vehicles and for enhancing user convenience, NR-U (New Radio Unlicensed) aimed at system operations conforming to various regulation-related requirements in unlicensed bands, NR UE Power Saving, Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) which is UE-satellite direct communication for providing coverage in an area in which communication with terrestrial networks is unavailable, and positioning.

[0005] Moreover, there has been ongoing standardization in air interface architecture / protocol regarding technologies such as Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) for supporting new services through interworking and convergence with other industries, IAB (Integrated Access and Backhaul) for providing a node for network service area expansion by supporting a wireless backhaul link and an access link in an integrated manner, mobility enhancement including conditional handover and DAPS (Dual Active Protocol Stack) handover, and two-step random access for simplifying random access procedures (2-step RACH for NR). There also has been ongoing standardization in system architecture / service regarding a 5G baseline architecture (for example, service based architecture or service based interface) for combining Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) technologies, and Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) for receiving services based on UE positions.

[0006] As 5G mobile communication systems are commercialized, connected devices that have been exponentially increasing will be connected to communication networks, and it is accordingly expected that enhanced functions and performances of 5G mobile communication systems and integrated operations of connected devices will be necessary. To this end, new research is scheduled in connection with eXtended Reality (XR) for efficiently supporting AR (Augmented Reality), VR (Virtual Reality), MR (Mixed Reality) and the like, 5G performance improvement and complexity reduction by utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), AI service support, metaverse service support, and drone communication.

[0007] Furthermore, such development of 5G mobile communication systems will serve as a basis for developing not only new waveforms for providing coverage in terahertz bands of 6G mobile communication technologies, multi-antenna transmission technologies such as Full Dimensional MIMO (FD-MIMO), array antennas and large-scale antennas, metamaterial-based lenses and antennas for improving coverage of terahertz band signals, high-dimensional space multiplexing technology using OAM (Orbital Angular Momentum), and RIS (Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface), but also full-duplex technology for increasing frequency efficiency of 6G mobile communication technologies and improving system networks, AI-based communication technology for implementing system optimization by utilizing satellites and AI (Artificial Intelligence) from the design stage and internalizing end-to-end AI support functions, and next-generation distributed computing technology for implementing services at levels of complexity exceeding the limit of UE operation capability by utilizing ultra-high-performance communication and computing resources.

[0008] The statements in this section merely provide background information related to the present disclosure and may not constitute prior art.

[0009] The digital worlds are a virtual environment designed to replicate real-world. The digital worlds may be constructed for various purposes, such as events, retail establishments i.e., shops or malls, or entertainment venues, to enable businesses to operate in an online environment. The services are often provided at specific virtual locations within Metaverse. For a user to interact with these services, an avatar is used within the digital world. To enhance user experience by providing relevant information based on their current location within the Metaverse, it is essential for local service providers such as the proprietors of shops or malls to display appropriate details about their products or services in a three-dimensional (3D) space within the Metaverse. This process involves the establishment of spatial anchors, which associate specific virtual locations with corresponding services or products. For example, in a virtual cake shop, spatial anchors may be placed within the 3D space of the shop to represent various cakes and products. These anchors may be visible to the users through virtual reality (VR) glasses, thereby allowing the users to view detailed information about the cakes and make purchasing decisions accordingly.

[0010] There are no existing method in 3GPP to provide spatial anchor details to the users based on his / her interest and current pose of the user. Thus, it is required to provide a solution for the abovementioned requirements which are a basic necessity to provide services in the metaverse by local service providers.

[0011] The information disclosed in this background of the disclosure section is only for enhancement of understanding of the general background of the invention and should not be taken as an acknowledgement or any form of suggestion that this information forms the prior art already known to a person skilled in the art.

[0036] The present disclosure relates to digital worlds, such as Metaverse. The present disclosure extends the capabilities of spatial anchors within the digital worlds by enabling "persistent search." In order to access the spatial anchors at a specific location, users may enable the "persistent search". The persistent search allows the users to receive information about interested content which is nearby and possibly within line of sight. As of now, no method exists in 3GPP to enable persistent search for the user and provide spatial anchor details to the user based on his / her interest. The present disclosure enhances user experience by allowing the users to discover spatial anchors based on their specific needs, interests, and requirements. Typically, as users navigate through digital environment, they may need to manually search for spatial anchors related to their interests. However, this may be streamlined through the use of the persistent search feature. By enabling persistent search, users may specify their areas of interest, and the system may continuously provide information about spatial anchors relevant to the interests. The persistent search functionality leverages 5G network capabilities to deliver real-time updates about spatial anchors that match the user's preferences. As the user moves through the digital world, the user may receive information about nearby spatial anchors that align with the interests and are potentially within the user's line of sight. This minimizes the need for manual searching and enhances the efficiency of locating desired content. The persistent search feature facilitates an adaptive and user-centric approach to discover the spatial anchors in the digital world, thereby enhances experience by tailoring it to individual user preferences and movements.

[0042] Upon receiving the request, the server 200 may monitor a location of the user device 216 and pose of the user along with a direction of movement. The server 200 may monitor a distance between the location of the user device 216 and the spatial anchors of interest to determine whether the spatial anchors of interest becomes in-range or out-of-range of the user device. Further, the processor 202 may identify a list of spatial anchors which becomes in-range or out of range of the user device 216 based on at least one of: the discovery filters for the persistent search, the location of the user device, direction corresponding to the pose of the user, and information pertaining to surroundings of the user device. In an embodiment, spatial anchors specific to the product for which the persistent search is to be enabled may be managed by another server (not shown in figures). Thus, the server 200 may send a request to the another server to determine a plurality of spatial anchors based on the discovery filters upon receiving the request to enable the persistent search. The another server may send the determined plurality of spatial anchors to the server 200. In another embodiment, the another server may be a part of the server 200.

[0043] Based on the received plurality of spatial anchors, the server 200 may identify a list of spatial anchors which are matched with the discovery filter and which are within range of the user device in a direction corresponding to the pose of the user. Upon identification, the processor 202 of the server 200 may transmit, via the transceiver 204, the list of spatial anchors to the user device 100 in a form of a notification message. [0044] In this manner, the present disclosure may enable the users to continuously discover spatial anchors based on his / her interests. The present disclosure enables persistent search within 5G system application enabler layer. The present disclosure enhances the user experience within metaverse to enable use to locate object / places of his / her interest using spatial anchors.

[0045] FIG. 3 illustrates a scenario of providing spatial anchors to a user while the user navigates through path in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 3, the user 302 may be at a train station and may be moving on a path having various stores, restaurants, etc. towards a platform. [0055] In block 506, the method 500 identifies, by the server 200, a list of spatial anchors which becomes in-range or out of range of the user device based on at least one of: the discovery filters for the persistent search, the location of the user device, direction corresponding to the pose of the user, and information pertaining to surroundings of the user device. In an embodiment, spatial anchors specific to the product for which the persistent search is to be enabled may be managed by another server (not shown in figures). The another server may be external to the server 200. Based on the received plurality of spatial anchors, the server 200 may identify a list of spatial anchors which are matched with the discovery filter and which are within range of the user device in the direction corresponding to the pose of the user.

[0056] In block 508, the method 500 transmits, by the server to the client 108 on the user device 100, a notification message comprising the list of spatial anchors. The spatial anchors may be shown to the user in the digital world / metaverse. These anchors may be displayed to the users through virtual reality (VR) glasses to allow the user to view detailed information of the spatial anchors associated with the product. The spatial anchors may assist the user to make decisions accordingly. As the user moves in the metaverse, spatial anchors corresponding to location of the user and its surroundings may be continuously displayed to the user to assist him to locate object / places of his / her interest using the spatial anchors.

[0057] In this manner, the present disclosure may enable the users to continuously discover spatial anchors based on his / her interests. The present disclosure enables persistent search within 5G system application enabler layer. The present disclosure enhances the user experience within metaverse to enable use to locate object / places of his / her interest using spatial anchors.
