Description

Magnetic latching relay

[0001] This disclosure claims priority to Chinese patent application No. 202322848079.0 filed on October 23, 2023, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. Technical Field

[0002] The present disclosure relates to the technical field of relays, and in particular to a magnetic latching relay. Background Art

[0003] A latching relay is an electronic switch that connects and disconnects a load circuit. It consists of a contact structure consisting of a moving spring and a stationary spring. The moving spring has a moving contact, while the stationary spring has a stationary contact. When a positive pulse voltage is applied to the latching relay, the moving and stationary contacts close, connecting the external load circuit. When a negative pulse voltage is applied to the relay, the moving and stationary contacts open, disconnecting the external load circuit.

[0004] To monitor whether the moving and stationary contacts are closed or open, a magnetic latching relay can be equipped with a microswitch and a trigger component. The trigger component can move synchronously with the moving contact to trigger the microswitch's connection and disconnection, and the state of the microswitch can be used to determine whether the moving and stationary contacts are closed or open. However, in the prior art, the trigger component is typically small in size and easily deforms significantly during the microswitch triggering process. Excessive deformation can lead to inaccurate microswitch connection and disconnection states, resulting in loss of monitoring functionality. Furthermore, the trigger component is weak and easily damaged after a period of use. Increasing the size of the trigger component would occupy a larger space, hindering the miniaturization of magnetic latching relays.

[0005] The above information disclosed in this Background section is only for enhancement of understanding of the background of the present disclosure and therefore it may include information that does not constitute the relevant technology that is already known to a person of ordinary skill in the art.

[0006] Summary of the Invention

[0007] The embodiments of the present disclosure provide a magnetic latching relay, which enables more accurate monitoring of a micro switch, extends service life, and saves space.

[0012] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, there are multiple first reinforcing ribs, and the multiple first reinforcing ribs are arranged in parallel or crosswise.

[0013] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the transition portion is a frame-shaped structure, and the first reinforcing rib is located in an opening of the frame-shaped structure.

[0014] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the shifting portion further includes a shifting rod, and the shifting rod is vertically arranged on the mounting portion.

[0015] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the mounting portion is provided with at least one second reinforcing rib.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0028] Example embodiments will now be described more fully with reference to the accompanying drawings. However, example embodiments can be implemented in many forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein; rather, these embodiments are provided so that this disclosure will be thorough and complete and will fully convey the concepts of the example embodiments to those skilled in the art. Like reference numerals in the figures represent like or similar structures, and thus their detailed description will be omitted.

[0029] As shown in FIG. 1 to FIG. 3 , an embodiment of the present disclosure provides a magnetic latching relay, including a base 100 , a micro switch 200 , and a magnetic circuit structure 300 .

[0030] As shown in FIG1 , the micro switch 200 is disposed on the base 100 . As shown in FIG6 , the micro switch 200 includes a housing 21 and an elastic piece 22 . The elastic piece 22 extends from the housing 21 in a direction away from the housing 21 .

[0031] As shown in Figure 6, the elastic sheet 22 can be made of elastic metal. One end of the elastic sheet 22 is connected to the housing 21, and the other end extends obliquely away from the housing 21. The microswitch 200 also includes three terminals, namely a common terminal 23, a first terminal 24, and a second terminal 25. When no force is applied to the elastic sheet 22, the common terminal 23 is connected to the first terminal 24, and the microswitch 200 is in an off state. When a force is applied to the elastic sheet 22, that is, the elastic sheet 22 is pushed, causing the elastic sheet 22 to move toward the housing 21, the common terminal 23 is disconnected from the first terminal 24 and connected to the second terminal 25, and the microswitch 200 is in an on state. A display device can be provided, electrically connected to the microswitch 200, to determine the on / off state of the microswitch 200 based on the state of the display device.

[0032] As shown in Figures 2 and 3, the magnetic circuit structure 300 includes an armature 31, a permanent magnet 32, and an injection molded part 33. As shown in Figure 3, there are two armatures 31, located on either side of the permanent magnet 32 in the longitudinal direction Y and extending beyond the permanent magnet 32 in the transverse direction X. As shown in Figure 2, the permanent magnet 32 and the armature 31 are fixed together through an injection molding process. Specifically, as shown in Figures 2 and 4, the injection molded part 33 can be formed through the injection molding process. The injection molded part 33 includes a main body 331 and a toggle portion 332. The main body 331 covers the permanent magnet 32 and a portion of the armature 31, fixedly connecting the permanent magnet 32 and the armature 31, with both ends of the armature 31 exposed from the main body 331. The toggle portion 332 is integrally injection molded with the main body 331 and has a protrusion 3321 that protrudes toward the elastic piece 22 of the micro switch 200.

[0033] As shown in Figure 1 , the magnetic latching relay also includes a mounting bracket 500, mounted on the base 100 and positioned above the molded part 33. This bracket serves to position the permanent magnet 32. As shown in Figure 4 , rotating shafts 334 are provided on either side of the main body 331 of the molded part 33. These shafts connect to the axial holes in the base 100 and the mounting bracket 500, respectively, enabling the rotation of the molded part 33. The molded part 33 also includes swing arms 333, located on either side of the main body 331.

[0034] As shown in Figures 1 to 3, the magnetic latching relay also includes a coil assembly 400, which is located on the base 100 and on one side of the magnetic circuit structure 300 in the longitudinal direction Y. Specifically, the coil assembly 400 includes a coil bobbin 41, a coil 42, and an iron core (not shown). The iron core is located in the coil bobbin 41. The coil 42 is wound around the coil bobbin 41.

[0035] As shown in Figure 3, the magnetic circuit structure 300 further includes a yoke 34 fixed on the base 100. There are two yokes 34, which are located on both sides of the coil frame 41 and in contact with the iron core.

[0036] As shown in Figure 3, the magnetic latching relay also includes a contact structure 600. Contact structure 600 comprises two parallel springs, each of which has a movable spring portion 61 and a stationary spring portion 62. The movable spring portion 61 is provided with a movable contact 63, and the stationary spring portion 62 is provided with a stationary contact 64. The movable contact 63 of one spring corresponds to the stationary contact 64 of the other spring, and the stationary contact 64 of one spring corresponds to the movable contact 63 of the other spring. Contact structure 600 also includes a compression spring 65 connected to the movable spring portion 61.

[0037] Continuing with FIG3 , the magnetic latching relay further includes a push card 700, which is mounted on the base 100. One end of the push card 700 is connected to the compression spring 65, and the other end is movably connected to the swing arm 333 of the injection molded part 33. When the swing arm 333 swings, it drives the push card 700 to move, which in turn drives the dynamic spring portion 61 to move via the compression spring 65.

[0038] When a positive pulse voltage is applied to coil 42, permanent magnet 32 swings to one side. Because injection molded part 33, armature 31, and permanent magnet 32 are fixedly connected, this causes injection molded part 33 to swing about axis 334, causing armature 31 to swing accordingly. This causes armature 31 to overlap yokes 34 on either side, forming a complete magnetic field between permanent magnet 32, armature 31, yokes 34, and the core. Simultaneously, swing arm 333 of injection molded part 33 swings, driving pusher 700. Pusher 700, via compression spring 65, pushes movable spring portion 61, closing the movable contact 63 of one spring with the stationary contact 64 of the other spring. This closes both springs and the magnetic latching relay. When coil 42 is de-energized, permanent magnet 32 maintains this magnetic field, keeping permanent magnet 32, armature 31, and injection molded part 33 in position, and thus keeping movable contact 63 and stationary contact 64 closed.

[0039] When a reverse pulse voltage is applied to coil 42, permanent magnet 32 swings to the opposite side, simultaneously driving armature 31 to swing in the opposite direction. This causes armature 31 to remain in contact with yokes 34 on either side, forming a complete magnetic field. Simultaneously, swing arm 333 of injection molded part 33 also swings in the opposite direction, driving pusher 700 in the opposite direction. This pulls on spring 61, disconnecting movable contact 63 from stationary contact 64 and disengaging the relay. When coil 42 is de-energized, permanent magnet 32 maintains this magnetic field, maintaining the positions of permanent magnet 32, armature 31, and injection molded part 33, and thus keeping movable contact 63 and stationary contact 64 disconnected.

[0040] As the permanent magnet 32 swings, the molded part 33 also swings with it. Consequently, as the permanent magnet 32 swings toward the microswitch 200, the protrusion 3321 of the toggle portion 332 moves toward the elastic sheet 22, driving the elastic sheet 22 toward the housing 21 of the microswitch 200, thereby switching the microswitch 200 on. After the coil 42 is de-energized, the molded part 33 remains in position, maintaining the protrusion 3321 of the toggle portion 332 and the elastic sheet 22. This ensures that the microswitch 200 remains in the on state while the movable contact 63 and the stationary contact 64 are closed.

[0041] When the permanent magnet 32 swings in the direction away from the micro switch 200, the protrusion 3321 of the toggle portion 332 moves in the direction away from the elastic sheet 22, and the elastic sheet 22 resets, causing the micro switch 200 to be disconnected. Therefore, when the moving contact 63 and the static contact 64 are in the disconnected state, the micro switch 200 is also in the disconnected state. The open and closed states of the moving contact 63 and the static contact 64 inside the magnetic latching relay can be monitored by observing the state of the micro switch 200.

[0042] As shown in FIG. 4 , the toggle portion 332 includes a mounting portion 3322 and a transition portion 3323 . The transition portion 3323 is located between the mounting portion 3322 and the protrusion 3321 . The dimension of the transition portion 3323 along the longitudinal direction Y gradually decreases toward the protrusion 3321 .

[0043] It should be noted that the "longitudinal direction Y" and the "lateral direction X" mentioned below in the embodiment of the present disclosure can be parallel to or substantially parallel to two adjacent side walls of the base 100, and the "longitudinal direction Y" can be perpendicular to or substantially perpendicular to the "lateral direction X". The term "substantially" can be understood as an angular error within the range of 1 to 10 degrees.

[0044] 2 and 4 , the transition portion 3323 gradually decreases in size in the longitudinal direction Y, so that the transition portion 3323 is roughly triangular in shape, which facilitates connection with the protrusion 3321. In addition, setting the transition portion 3323 in a triangular shape can increase the firmness of the transition portion 3323 and make it less likely to deform.

[0045] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG4 , a first dimension d1 of the protrusion 3321 along the longitudinal direction Y is smaller than a minimum dimension d2 of the transition portion 3323 along the longitudinal direction Y. The size of the protrusion 3321 is minimized to enable accurate connection to the elastic piece 22 of the micro switch 200 and drive its movement.

[0046] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG. 4 , the transition portion 3323 has at least one first reinforcing rib 3324 .

[0047] For example, the transition portion 3323 may have a first reinforcing rib 3324 , and the first reinforcing rib 3324 may be provided along the transverse direction X or along the longitudinal direction Y. By providing the first reinforcing rib 3324 , the strength of the transition portion 3323 can be increased, making it less likely to deform.

[0048] Continuing with reference to FIG. 4 , in some embodiments, there are multiple first reinforcing ribs 3324 , and the multiple first reinforcing ribs 3324 are arranged in parallel or crosswise.

[0049] For example, the first reinforcing ribs 3324 may have two, three, four, five, six or more, and those skilled in the art may set them according to actual conditions, and no special restrictions are made here. Multiple first reinforcing ribs 3324 may be arranged in parallel along the horizontal direction X and the longitudinal direction Y, or they may be arranged crosswise. When multiple first reinforcing ribs 3324 are arranged crosswise, the angle between the crossed first reinforcing ribs 3324 may be 0° to 90°. For example, the angle may be 30°, 45°, 60°, 70°, 80° or 90°, and those skilled in the art may set them according to actual conditions, and no special restrictions are made here. As shown in Figure 4, two first reinforcing ribs 3324 are provided, and the two first reinforcing ribs 3324 are arranged perpendicular to each other and crosswise. In addition, the multiple first reinforcing ribs 3324 may also be arranged partially in parallel and partially crosswise.

[0050] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG. 4 , the transition portion 3323 is a frame-shaped structure, and the first reinforcing rib 3324 is located in an opening of the frame-shaped structure.

[0051] As shown in Figure 4, the transition portion 3323 has a frame-shaped structure, meaning it has a closed frame with an opening extending vertically through it. A first reinforcing rib 3324 is located within the opening and connected to the inner side of the frame, giving the transition portion 3323 a hollow structure. This structure not only reduces the weight of the transition portion 3323 but also allows the injection molded part 33 to follow the movement of the permanent magnet 32 more flexibly, allowing the protrusion 3321 to more accurately drive the elastic piece 22. Furthermore, the hollow structure of the transition portion 3323 reduces stress within the transition portion 3323. For example, during the manufacturing process of a magnetic latching relay, glue is injected into the relay. After injection, the relay is placed in an oven for baking. During the baking process, the first reinforcing rib 3324 may deform slightly. The hollow portion of the opening accommodates this slight deformation, eliminating the stress caused by this slight deformation, further enhancing the strength of the toggle portion 332 and reducing the amount of deformation of the toggle portion 332. In addition, it can also reduce materials and lower costs.

[0052] Of course, in other embodiments, the transition portion 3323 may not have an opening, and the first reinforcing rib 3324 may be disposed on the side of the transition portion 3323, thereby simplifying the manufacturing process. Alternatively, in some embodiments, the transition portion 3323 may not have an opening or the first reinforcing rib 3324, but may be a plate-like structure.

[0053] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG. 4 , the shifting portion 332 further includes a shifting rod 3325 , which is vertically disposed on the mounting portion 3322 .

[0054] After the magnetic latching relay cover (not shown) is placed on the base 100, the lever 3325 can extend out of the cover through the through hole in the cover. In an emergency, the lever 3325 can be manually moved to connect or disconnect the relay, thereby connecting or disconnecting the load circuit.

[0055] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG. 5 , the mounting portion 3322 is provided with at least one second reinforcing rib 3326 .

[0056] Referring to FIG5 , at least one second reinforcing rib 3326 is provided in the area surrounding the lever 3325 on the mounting portion 3322. In some embodiments, a plurality of second reinforcing ribs 3326 may be provided. The plurality of second reinforcing ribs 3326 may be arranged in parallel or in a cross-arrangement. When the plurality of second reinforcing ribs 3326 are arranged in a cross-arrangement, the angle between the crossed second reinforcing ribs 3326 may be 0° to 90°. For example, the angle may be 30°, 45°, 60°, 70°, 80°, or 90°. Those skilled in the art may set the angle based on actual conditions, and this is not limited here. As shown in FIG5 , two second reinforcing ribs 3326 are provided, and the two second reinforcing ribs 3326 are arranged perpendicular to each other and in a cross-arrangement. In addition, the plurality of second reinforcing ribs 3326 may be arranged partially in parallel and partially in a cross-arrangement.

[0057] Continuing with Figure 5 , the mounting portion 3322 may also have a hollowed-out area to further reduce the weight of the injection molded part 33 and the load on the permanent magnet 32 during its swinging, allowing the protrusion 3321 of the toggle portion 332 to more accurately drive the elastic piece 22. Furthermore, the hollowed-out area accommodates slight deformation of the second reinforcing rib 3326, eliminating stress caused by such slight deformation, reducing deformation of the toggle portion 332, and further enhancing the strength of the toggle portion 332, while also saving material and reducing costs.

[0058] Of course, the mounting portion 3322 may not have a hollow area, and the second reinforcing rib 3326 may be provided on the side of the mounting portion 3322 to simplify the manufacturing process. Alternatively, the mounting portion 3322 may not have a hollow area or the second reinforcing rib 3326, but may be a plate-like structure.

[0059] In some embodiments, both the longitudinal dimension Y and the lateral dimension X of the mounting portion 3322 are larger than the dimensions of the micro switch 200 .

[0060] As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the dimension of the mounting portion 3322 in the longitudinal direction Y is larger than the dimension of the micro switch 200 in the longitudinal direction Y, and the dimension of the mounting portion 3322 in the transverse direction X is larger than the dimension of the micro switch 200 in the transverse direction X, that is, the area of the mounting portion 3322 can cover the micro switch 200. Therefore, it can be seen that the larger size of the toggle portion 332 of the disclosed embodiment gives it greater strength, and it is less likely to deform when it presses against the elastic sheet 22, which can more accurately turn the micro switch 200 on and off, thereby improving the accuracy of monitoring.

[0061] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG. 2 and FIG. 4 , the connection between the toggle portion 332 and the main body portion 331 is an arc transition, so that the toggle portion 332 extends from the main body portion 331 to above the coil assembly 400 without contacting the coil assembly 400 .

[0062] As shown in Figure 2, the micro switch 200 is located on one side of the coil assembly 400 in the horizontal direction X. In order to enable the protrusion 3321 to accurately drive the elastic sheet 22 to move during the swinging process, the toggle portion 332 extends from the main body 331 to the top of the coil assembly 400, and has a certain distance from the coil assembly 400 to avoid friction with the coil assembly 400 during the swinging process of the toggle portion 332. Of course, the smaller the distance, the better to save space. "Above" in the embodiment of the present disclosure can be understood as a direction perpendicular to the bottom wall of the base 100, toward the direction away from the base 100 on the open side of the base 100. For example, the toggle portion 332 is located above the coil assembly 400, and the fixing bracket 500 is located above the main body 331 of the injection molded part 33.

[0063] Placing the toggle portion 332 above the coil assembly 400 raises it relative to the main body 331. Consequently, a circular transition is formed at the junction of the toggle portion 332 and the main body 331, raising the position of the toggle portion 332. Furthermore, the circular transition better adapts to the curved surface of the coil 42, reducing space usage and preventing friction with the surface of the coil 42.

[0064] In addition, the toggle portion 332 of the embodiment of the present disclosure is sheet-shaped. Although the size of the toggle portion 332 is increased, it still occupies a small space above the coil assembly 400, making full use of the space between the cover and the coil assembly 400 without increasing the volume of the magnetic latching relay.

[0065] In summary, in the magnetic latching relay of the present disclosure, the toggle portion 332 and the main body 331 are integrally injection-molded, and the main body 331 overlies the permanent magnet 32 and the armature 31. This results in a larger body 331, which increases the strength of the toggle portion 332 and prevents deformation, extending its service life and providing more accurate monitoring of the magnetic latching relay. Furthermore, since the main body 331 overlies the permanent magnet 32 and the armature 31, it does not occupy a large space, facilitating miniaturization of the magnetic latching relay.

[0066] It is understandable that the various embodiments / implementations provided in the present disclosure can be combined with each other without causing any contradiction, and they will not be illustrated one by one here.

[0067] In the embodiments of the present disclosure, the terms "first", "second", and "third" are used for descriptive purposes only and are not to be understood as indicating or implying relative importance; the term "plurality" refers to two or more, unless otherwise expressly defined. Terms such as "installed", "connected", "connected", and "fixed" should be understood in a broad sense. For example, "connected" can be a fixed connection, a detachable connection, or an integral connection; "connected" can be a direct connection or an indirect connection through an intermediate medium. For those of ordinary skill in the art, the specific meanings of the above terms in the embodiments of the present disclosure can be understood according to specific circumstances.
