Description

[0001] A HYDRAULIC AND ENGINE FUEL DISPLAY UNIT

[0002] TECHNICAL FIELD

[0003] The invention relates to a modular hydraulic and engine fuel display unit comprising at least one display to provide at least one user with hydraulic and engine fuel status information of an aircraft.

[0004] BACKGROUND

[0005] The display of an aircraft's hydraulic and engine fuel status is often referred to as the "fuel quantity and engine tachometer". This indicator allows the pilots to be visually informed about the amount of fuel remaining in the fuel tanks of the aircraft and the engine speed status, etc. Thus, the pilot can monitor the fuel level and engine status of the aircraft.

[0006] Pilots check the fuel status of the aircraft by constantly monitoring the fuel and engine indicator on the dashboard and ensure that the fuel amount is at a level to meet the flight requirements when the engine is working properly. Taking the necessary measures for the aircraft and directing it to an alternative airport can be an option when the fuel level is low.

[0007] Aircraft manufacturers and airlines design complex and reliable fuel indicators to ensure flight safety and efficiency. However, it is important for pilots to accurately monitor the fuel and engine status and to take the necessary measures for flight safety.

[0008] There are LEDs on the aircraft fuel and engine indicator. It is ensured by illuminating these LEDs that signs are formed on the display. The deterioration of the LEDs can potentially cause some negative effects in flight operations. This may lead to pilots not being able to accurately monitor the fuel and engine status of the aircraft and misunderstanding the fuel amount and not being able to monitor the engine health status.

[0009] The deterioration of the LEDs can lead to incorrect fuel level and engine status readings by the pilots. This leads to pilots not being able to accurately assess the actual fuel and engine status of the aircraft. The wrong fuel level reading can create false impressions of the decrease or increase in the amount of fuel and cause pilots to make misleading decisions. The deterioration of the LEDs may also cause the LEDs in different regions of the dashboard to not light up or flash completely. In this case, it may be difficult for pilots to accurately detect changes in the fuel level and engine status. The illumination of different LEDs at different brightness levels can prevent pilots from understanding the real fuel situation.

[0010] An alarm or alert is given in case of a malfunction in the fuel and engine indicator in some modern aircraft. Such alarms can distract pilots and be an unnecessary concern. In addition, false alarms can bring the risk of ignoring real alarms in real emergencies. Double or triple backup systems are used to display important information such as fuel quantity and engine speed in some aircraft. However, it is not guaranteed that these backup systems will not be affected by the deterioration of the LEDs. The same LED degradation may occur in more than one system, and it may be difficult for pilots to access reliable information.

[0011] The display needs to be changed completely if it is determined that these LEDs are broken. This creates both workload and cost loss. The aircraft needs to be kept in maintenance during this change. This causes the aircraft to be inoperable for a while.

[0012] All the problems mentioned above have made it necessary to make an innovation in the relevant technical field as a result.

The aircraft mentioned in a preferred embodiment of the invention is a combat aircraft.

[0030] The hydraulic and engine fuel display unit (10) comprises a plurality of pixels arranged side by side and in rows on said display. Pixels are the smallest image units in digital displays and are formed by the combination of the points that make up the horizontal and vertical size of the display, as is known in the present art. Each pixel is represented by a color value. The images on the display are created with the combination of these colors. There are a plurality of illumination elements (101) provided in modular form to ensure that each pixel on the display is illuminated and that at least one image related to the fuel status is formed on said display when illuminated. The hydraulic fuel and engine display unit (10) comprises a control unit (102) that enables the creation of said image on the display by transmitting an operating status signal to each illumination element (101 ), as shown in Figure 1. The operating status information is one of an open signal and a close signal in a possible embodiment of the invention. The hydraulic fuel and engine display unit (10) comprises an energy unit (103) that stores the energy necessary for the operation of the illumination elements (101) and the control unit (102). It is preferred to use a battery etc. as the energy unit (103) in a possible embodiment of the invention. It comprises a user interface (105) to enable the location information of the malfunctioning illumination element (101) associated with the control unit (102) to be presented to the user. The user interface (105) may be a display on the dashboard, etc. in a possible embodiment of the invention. The user interface is provided to be compatible with the night vision binoculars in an alternative embodiment of the invention. There is a memory unit (104) that enables the address information of the illumination elements (101) associated with the control unit (102) to be kept. There is an alert unit (106) associated with the control unit (102) to enable the user to be alerted. The alert unit (106) comprises the audible alert unit (106) to ensure that the user is alerted acoustically. The audible alert unit (106) may be a speaker, a buzzer, etc. that provides audible alert so that the user is not disturbed in a possible embodiment of the invention.
