[0035] The Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model (referred to herein as, “open system interconnection model” ) is a conceptual and logical layout that defines network communication used by systems (e.g., wireless communication device, wireless communication node) open to interconnection and communication with other systems. The model is broken into seven subcomponents, or layers, each of which represents a conceptual collection of services provided to the layers above and below it. The OSI Model also defines a logical network and effectively describes computer packet transfer by using different layer protocols. The OSI Model may also be referred to as the seven-layer OSI Model or the seven-layer model. In some embodiments, a first layer may be a physical layer. In some embodiments, a second layer may be a Medium Access Control (MAC) layer. In some embodiments, a third layer may be a Radio Link Control (RLC) layer. In some embodiments, a fourth layer may be a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) layer. In some embodiments, a fifth layer may be a Radio Resource Control (RRC) layer. In some embodiments, a sixth layer may be a Non-Access Stratum (NAS) layer or an Internet Protocol (IP) layer, and the seventh layer being the other layer.

[0036] Various example embodiments of the present solution are described below with reference to the accompanying figures to enable a person of ordinary skill in the art to make and use the present solution. As would be apparent to those of ordinary skill in the art, after reading the present disclosure, various changes or modifications to the examples described herein can be made without departing from the scope of the present solution. Thus, the present solution is not limited to the example embodiments and applications described and illustrated herein. Additionally, the specific order or hierarchy of steps in the methods disclosed herein are merely example approaches. Based upon design preferences, the specific order or hierarchy of steps of the disclosed methods or processes can be re-arranged while remaining within the scope of the present solution. Thus, those of ordinary skill in the art will understand that the methods and techniques disclosed herein present various steps or acts in a sample order, and the present solution is not limited to the specific order or hierarchy presented unless expressly stated otherwise.

[0037] 2. Systems and Methods for Performing Redundant Sidelink Communication

[0038] In communication systems, the network can control the mobility that applies to UEs in the RRC_CONNECTED state. In certain implementations, a conditional handover (CHO) is defined as a handover  executed by the UE when one or more handover execution conditions are met / satisfied. For example, the UE can start evaluating / determining the execution condition (s) upon receiving the CHO configuration and can stop evaluating the execution condition (s) once a handover is executed. In certain implementations, the CHO configuration can include the configuration of the CHO candidate cell (s) generated by the candidate base station (s) and the execution condition (s) generated by the source base station. In certain implementations, the UE can perform a handover or cell change based on the CHO configuration. When the UE is configured for multi-connectivity operations, similar CHO principles can be applied to the conditional PSCell (SpCell of a secondary cell group) change and / or conditional PSCell addition (CPAC) in multi-connectivity operations. In certain implementations, the SpCell can be the primary cell of a master or a secondary cell group.

[0039] In certain implementations, it can be desirable to let the network know whether the provided CHO configuration is suitable and whether the network is to perform mobility robustness optimization. In some implementations, the optimization can detect connection failures that occur due to too early or too late handovers, or handovers to the wrong cell. In certain implementations, it can be desirable to let the network know whether the provided CPAC configuration is suitable and whether the network is to perform mobility robustness optimization. In some implementations, the optimization can detect CPAC failures that occur due to too late CPC execution, too early CPC execution, or CPC / CPA execution to the wrong PSCell. When the CHO or CPAC failure occurs, the UE may store and report the failure information to the network. In certain implementations, even if the CPAC is successful, the long elapsed time of the T304, T310, or T312 timer can indicate / reflect that the configuration is sub-optimal. In certain implementations, to analyze such a sub-optimal successful CPAC, the UE can collect a successful PSCell change report based on the triggers configured by the network. The trigger can occur when the ratio of the elapsed time of the timer T310, T312, or T304 to the configured value of the timer T310, T312, or T304 is greater than a configured / predefined threshold. Based on the report, the network can decide / determine whether to adjust the T310, T312, or T304 timer values.

[0040] In certain implementations, a subsequent conditional PSCell addition or change (subsequent CPAC) can be defined as a conditional PSCell addition or change procedure that is executed after a PSCell addition, a PSCell change, a PCell (SpCell of a master cell group) change, or an SCG release, based on the pre-configured subsequent CPAC configuration for candidate PSCell (s) without reconfiguration and re-initiation of CPC / CPA.

[0041] In certain implementations, the UE can keep / retain the configured subsequent CPAC configuration (unless the network indicates releasing it) and evaluate the execution conditions for candidate PSCells upon completing a PSCell addition, a PSCell change, a PCell change, or an SCG release. In some implementations, the intra-SN subsequent CPAC, initiated by the SN, and / or inter-SN subsequent CPAC, initiated by the MN or SN, can be supported. In certain implementations, the UE can keep performing (or repeatedly perform) CPAC multiple times after acquiring the subsequent CPAC configuration. However, in some implementations, the UE can only report the latest CPAC execution situation if the ratio of the elapsed time of the timer T310 (or T312 or T304) to the configured value of the timer T310 (or T312 or T304) is greater than a configured / defined threshold. In some implementations, the network may not acquire information about each CPAC execution situation after the subsequent CPAC configuration is provided.

[0042] In certain implementations, the SRP report can assist the network in determining whether the timers T304, T310, or T312 are suitably / appropriately set. For example, the UE can collect SPR reports based on the following trigger conditions such as whether the ratio of the elapsed time of a timer (such as T304, T310, or T312) to the configured value of the timer (such as T304, T310, or T312) is greater than the configured / predefined threshold percentage of the associated timer. Based on the report, the network can optimize the PSCell change / CPC configuration, associated mobility thresholds, or adjust T304 / T310 / T312 timer values.

[0043] In certain implementations, if the ratio of the elapsed time of the timer (e.g., T304, T310, or T312) to the configured value of the timer (T304, T310, or T312) is not greater than the configured / predefined threshold percentage of the associated timer, the UE may not send the SPR to the network, regardless of whether the UE performs CPAC or subsequent CPAC. As a result, the network may not be able to determine whether or when the subsequent CPAC or CPAC has been performed / executed at the UE side.

[0044] In certain implementations, to inform the network about the suitability of the provided subsequent CPAC or CPAC configuration, the network can instruct / indicate to the UE to report the time elapsed between the initiation of the execution of conditional reconfiguration for the target PSCell and the reception of the last conditionalReconfiguration for the SCG, including the condRRCReconfig of the target PSCell, in response to determining that the time elapsed is greater than a configured threshold.

[0045] In certain implementations, the configuration / arrangement details on the UE side can be specified as follows:

[0046] Step 1: The UE can receive the report configuration information from the network. In certain implementations, the report configuration information can include at least one of the following:

[0047] ● The first indication, which can indicate that the UE can report the time elapsed between the initiation of the execution of conditional reconfiguration for the target PSCell / PCell and the reception of the last conditional reconfiguration for the corresponding / associated target PSCell / PCell.

[0048] ● The threshold information, which can refer to the threshold of the time elapsed between the initiation of the execution of conditional reconfiguration for the target PSCell / PCell and the reception of the last conditional reconfiguration for the associated / corresponding target PSCell / PCell.

[0049] Step 2a: After the UE receives the first indication, the UE can report the time elapsed between the initiation of the execution of conditional reconfiguration for the target PSCell / PCell and the reception of the last conditional reconfiguration for the associated / corresponding target PSCell / PCell to the network.

[0050] Step 2b: After the UE receives the threshold information, if the time elapsed between the initiation of the execution of conditional reconfiguration for the target PSCell / PCell and the reception of the last conditional reconfiguration for the corresponding / associated target PSCell / PCell is greater than the threshold, the UE can report the time elapsed between the initiation of the execution of conditional reconfiguration for the target PSCell / PCell and the reception of the last conditional reconfiguration for the corresponding / associated target PSCell / PCell to the network.

[0051] In certain implementations, the UE can send / communicate the cause of the report to the network. The cause can be used to indicate / specify the cause of the report. If the UE sends the time elapsed between the initiation  of the execution of conditional reconfiguration for the target PSCell / PCell and the reception of the last conditional reconfiguration for the associated / corresponding target PSCell / PCell to the network, the cause value can be set as an indication of a conditional reconfiguration issue.

[0052] In certain implementations, the configuration / arrangement details on the network side can be specified as follows:

[0053] Step 1: The network can send the report configuration information to the UE. In certain implementations, the report configuration information can include at least one of the following:

[0054] ● The first indication, which can indicate that the UE can report the time elapsed between the initiation of the execution of conditional reconfiguration for the target PSCell / PCell and the reception of the last conditional reconfiguration for the corresponding / associated target PSCell / PCell.

[0055] ● The threshold information, which can refer to the threshold of the time elapsed between the initiation of the execution of conditional reconfiguration for the target PSCell / PCell and the reception of the last conditional reconfiguration for the associated / corresponding target PSCell / PCell.

[0056] Step 2: The network receive information of the time elapsed between the initiation of the execution of conditional reconfiguration for the target PSCell / PCell and the reception of the last conditional reconfiguration for the associated / corresponding target PSCell / PCell to the network.

[0057] Step 3: The network can optimize conditional reconfiguration based on the report. For example, by changing the candidate cell list and / or the execution conditions of the conditional reconfiguration. In some implementations, the network can forward the report to another network node if the conditional reconfiguration is provided by another network.

[0058] In certain implementations, to inform the network about the suitability of the provided CPAC configuration, the network can indicate / signify / instruct the UE to report the time elapsed between the initiation of the execution of conditional reconfiguration for the target PSCell and the reception of the last conditional reconfiguration for the associated / corresponding target PSCell. In some implementations, the time can be set as follows:

[0059] TimeSinceCPAC-Reconfig-r18 : : = INTEGER (0.. 1023)

[0060] In certain implementations, if the reported time is 1023, it may mean / indicate that the UE has not performed any CPAC configuration. In some implementations, the configuration / arrangement can be useful for CPAC configuration but may not be effective for subsequent CPAC cases. In certain implementations, the UE can keep / retain the subsequent CPAC configuration for candidate PSCell (s) as pre-configured. In certain implementations, the UE can receive the subsequent CPAC configuration from the network once but may perform / execute the subsequent CPAC configurations multiple times.

[0061] In certain implementations, after the UE performs / executes the subsequent CPAC multiple times, the time elapsed between the initiation of the execution of conditional reconfiguration for the target PSCell and the reception of the last conditional reconfiguration for the associated / corresponding target PSCell can be significantly  longer. As a result, the network may not be able to determine / know whether the UE has not performed / executed any subsequent CPAC or if the UE has performed subsequent CPAC multiple times based on the reported time.

[0062] In certain implementations / embodiments, the UE can report an indication of whether CPAC or subsequent CPAC has been performed after acquiring the last conditional reconfiguration for the target PSCell. In certain implementations, the configuration / arrangement details can be specified as follows:

[0063] Step 1: The UE can receive the UEInformationRequest message from the network.

[0064] Step2: The UE can report the indication of whether CPAC or subsequent CPAC has been performed after acquiring the last conditional reconfiguration for the target PSCell.

[0065] In certain implementations / embodiments, the UE can report the number of times CPAC or subsequent CPAC has been performed after acquiring the last conditional reconfiguration. In certain implementations, the configuration / arrangement details can be specified as follows:

[0066] Step 1: The UE can receive the UEInformationRequest message from the network.

[0067] Step2: The UE can report the number of times CPAC or subsequent CPAC has been performed after acquiring the last conditional reconfiguration.

[0068] In certain implementations / embodiments, the configuration / arrangement details can be specified as follows:

[0069] Step 1: The UE can receive the UEInformationRequest message from the network.

[0070] Step 2: The UE can set the counter of the subsequent CPAC in the UEInformationResponse message to the value of the counter of the subsequent CPAC in the Var-Report.

[0071] Step 3: The UE can discard the Var-Report upon the successful delivery of the UEInformationResponse message confirmed by the lower layers.

[0072] In addition, before Step 2, the UE can set the counter of the subsequent CPAC in the Var-Report as follows:

[0073] 1) Upon the execution of conditional reconfiguration for subsequent CPAC, the UE can increment the counter of subsequent CPAC in the Var-Report by 1.

[0074] 2) If the conditional reconfiguration for subsequent CPAC is changed or released, the UE can reset the counter of subsequent CPAC in the Var-Report to 0.

[0075] In certain implementations / embodiments, the configuration / arrangement details can be specified as follows:

[0076] Step 1: The UE can receive the UEInformationRequest message from the network.

[0077] Step 2: For the PSCell indicated in the last applied RRCReconfiguration message, the UE can set the counter of the subsequent CPAC for the cell in the UEInformationResponse message to the value of the counter of the subsequent CPAC for the corresponding / associated cell in the Var-Report. In certain implementations, the UE can maintain the  counter of the subsequent CPAC for each cell, for example, the cell in the candidate cell list.

[0078] In addition, before Step 2 or Step 1, the UE can set the counter for the subsequent CPAC associated with a cell in the Var-Report as follows:

[0079] 1) Upon the execution of conditional reconfiguration for subsequent CPAC for a selected cell, the UE can increment the counter of subsequent CPAC for the selected cell in the Var-Report by 1.

[0080] 2) If the conditional reconfiguration for subsequent CPAC associated with a cell is changed or released, the UE can reset the counter for subsequent CPAC for the PSCell in the Var-Report to 0.

[0081] In certain implementations / embodiments, the UE can report the time elapsed between the last two executions of the conditional reconfiguration. The configuration / arrangement details can be specified as follows:

[0082] Step 1: The UE can receive the UEInformationRequest message from the network.

[0083] Step 2: The UE can set the time elapsed between the last two executions of the conditional reconfiguration in the UEInformationResponse message to the first time value in the Var-Report.

[0084] In addition, before Step 2 or Step 1, the UE can set the first timer in the Var-Report as follows:

[0085] 1) Upon the execution of conditional reconfiguration for subsequent CPAC, the UE can stop the first timer and set the value to the first time value in the Var-Report. In certain implementations, the UE can restart the first timer or reset the first timer to 0.

[0086] 2) If the conditional reconfiguration for subsequent CPAC is changed or released, the UE can restart the first timer or reset the first timer to 0.

[0087] In certain implementations / embodiments, the subsequent CPAC configuration can involve multiple network nodes, and more than one network node can be involved to provide the subsequent CPAC configuration information. In some implementations, the UE can report all the selected subsequent CPAC candidate configurations to the network. The configuration details can be specified as follows:

[0088] Step 1: The UE can receive the UEInformationRequest message from the network. In certain implementations, the UEInformationRequest message can include the indication of reporting subsequent CPAC associated information.

[0089] Step 2: The UE can send the selected subsequent CPAC candidate configuration in the UEInformationResponse message.

[0090] In certain implementations, the selected subsequent CPAC candidate configuration can include at least one of the following: the cell ID selected for subsequent CPAC execution; the condReconfigId executed or selected; and / or an indication of the selected subsequent CPAC candidate configuration stored in the master cell group (MCG) VarConditionalReconfig or stored in the SCG VarConditionalReconfig.

[0091] In certain implementations, the selected subsequent CPAC candidate configuration can include at least one of the following: all the selected cell ID (s) for subsequent CPAC execution associated with a subsequent CPAC  configuration; and / or all the selected condReconfigId (s) for subsequent CPAC execution associated with a subsequent CPAC configuration.

[0092] In certain implementations, when the network acquires the aforementioned information, the network can know / determine the situation of the subsequent CPAC execution and decide whether to modify the subsequent CPAC configuration. In certain implementations, when the network acquires information of the selected subsequent CPAC configuration stored in the MCG VarConditionalReconfig or stored in the secondary cell group (SCG) VarConditionalReconfig, the network can know / determine which network node (MN node, SN node, or both nodes) provided the subsequent CPAC candidate configuration. The network can forward the received report to the network node.

[0093] In certain implementations / embodiments, due to the nature of subsequent CPAC, one can image the SCG, possibly in FR2, automatically changes from one to another in a group of candidate SCGs, while the MCG stays the same (in lower frequency band, e.g., 3.5GHz or even 700MHz) . It is beneficial for network to configure one UE with a pool of SCG and everything else is automated. For subsequent CPAC, UE might be changing its SCG frequently. If subsequent CPAC is configured for UE, various reports might need to be generated more frequently. However, the sub-optimal success report or failure report might be over-written. If subsequent CPAC goes on and network fails to fetch the report in time, such information might never be able to be aware by the network. To avoid this problem, the UE should keep the information in the sub-optimal success report or failure report until successful delivery of the information confirmed by lower layers. In certain implementations  / embodiments, when the UE is configured to provide the SPR information or failure information, the UE may not clear current stored SPR information or failure information, it will add the new SPR information or failure information in the report. In certain implementations / embodiments, the UE will clear or discard the SPR information or failure information when successful delivery of the information to the network.

[0094] In certain implementations / embodiments, Network might want to know the track of UE’s mobility for a subsequent CPAC. For example, network might be based on the mobility history information of the UE’s subsequent CPAC, to better configure future UE (different UE but with similar mobility tack based on location info) or as the input as the future network automation / predication. In certain implementations / embodiments, when a UE receive a report request from the network, the UE can report the PSCell (s) in the selected / serving order to the network. In addition, it can also report the residence time in each selected / serving PSCell to the network.

[0097] In certain configurations, the first indication can indicate that the wireless communication device can report an amount of elapsed time between initiation of execution of a conditional reconfiguration for a target PSCell / PCell and reception of a last conditional reconfiguration for the target PSCell / PCell. In certain configurations, the threshold information can indicate a threshold of elapsed time between initiation of execution of a conditional reconfiguration for a target PSCell / PCell and reception of a last conditional reconfiguration for the target PSCell / PCell. In certain configurations, the report can include the amount of elapsed time. In certain configurations, the wireless communication device can send a cause for an issue of the conditional reconfiguration to the network.

[0098] In certain configurations, the wireless communication device can receive a message, including report Request from the network. In some implementations, in response to the report Request, the report can include at least one of the following: an indication of whether the CPAC or the subsequent CPAC is performed or not after acquiring a last conditional reconfiguration for a target PSCell; a number of times for performing the CPAC or subsequent CPAC after acquiring a last conditional reconfiguration; a counter of the subsequent CPAC; a counter of the subsequent CPAC for each cell; an amount of elapsed time between last two executions of a conditional reconfiguration; and / or a selected candidate configuration for the subsequent CPAC.

[0099] In certain configurations, the counter of the subsequent CPAC can include at least one of the following: upon the conditional reconfiguration for the subsequent CPAC executed, the wireless communication device can increment the counter of the subsequent CPAC by 1; and / or if the conditional reconfiguration for the subsequent CPAC is changed or released, the wireless communication device can reset the counter of the subsequent CPAC to 0. In certain configurations, the counter of the subsequent CPAC for each cell can include at least one of the following: upon the conditional reconfiguration for the subsequent CPAC for a selected cell executed, the wireless communication device can increment the counter of the subsequent CPAC for the selected cell by 1; and / or if the conditional reconfiguration for the subsequent CPAC associated with a cell is changed or released, the wireless communication device can reset the counter for the subsequent CPAC for the cell to 0. In some implementations, the selected cell can be the source cell or candidate target cell for the subsequent CPAC.

[0100] In certain configurations, the amount of elapsed time between the last two executions of a conditional reconfiguration can include at least one of the following: upon the conditional reconfiguration for the subsequent CPAC executed, the wireless communication device can stop a first timer and set its value to the first time value ; and / or if the conditional reconfiguration for the subsequent CPAC is changed or released, the wireless communication device can restart the first timer or reset the first timer to 0.

[0102] At least one aspect is directed to a system, method, apparatus, or a computer-readable medium. In certain configurations, the network can send / transmit / provide the report configuration information to the wireless communication device (STEP 306) . In certain configurations, the network can receive / obtain / acquire the report regarding the subsequent Conditional PSCell Addition or Change (CPAC) or the subsequent CPAC based on the report configuration information from the wireless communication device (STEP 308) .

[0103] While various embodiments / implementations of the present solution have been described above, it should be understood that they have been presented by way of example only, and not by way of limitation. Likewise, the various diagrams may depict an example architecture or configuration, which are provided to enable persons of ordinary skill in the art to understand example features and functions of the present solution. Such persons would understand, however, that the solution is not restricted to the illustrated example architectures or configurations but can be implemented using a variety of alternative architectures and configurations. Additionally, as would be understood by persons of ordinary skill in the art, one or multiple features of one embodiment / implementation can be combined with one or multiple features of another embodiment / implementation described herein. Thus, the breadth and scope of the present disclosure should not be limited by any of the above-described illustrative embodiments.

[0104] It is also understood that any reference to an element herein using a designation such as “first, ” “second, ” and so forth does not generally limit the quantity or order of those elements. Rather, these designations can be used herein as a convenient means of distinguishing between two or more elements or instances of an element. Thus, a reference to first and second elements does not mean that only two elements can be employed, or that the first element must precede the second element in some manner.

[0105] Additionally, a person having ordinary skill in the art would understand that information and signals can be represented using any of a variety of different technologies and techniques. For example, data, instructions, commands, information, signals, bits, and symbols, which may be referenced in the above description, can be represented by voltages, currents, electromagnetic waves, magnetic fields or particles, optical fields or particles, or any combination thereof.

[0106] A person of ordinary skill in the art would further appreciate that any of the various illustrative logical blocks, modules, processors, means, circuits, methods and functions described in connection with the aspects disclosed herein can be implemented by electronic hardware (e.g., a digital implementation, an analog implementation, or a combination of the two) , firmware, various forms of program or design code incorporating instructions (which can be referred to herein, for convenience, as “software” or a “software module) , or any combination of these techniques. To clearly illustrate this interchangeability of hardware, firmware and software,  various illustrative components, blocks, modules, circuits, and steps have been described above generally in terms of their functionality. Whether such functionality is implemented as hardware, firmware or software, or a combination of these techniques, depends upon the particular application and design constraints imposed on the overall system. Skilled artisans can implement the described functionality in various ways for each particular application, but such implementation decisions do not cause a departure from the scope of the present disclosure.

[0107] Furthermore, a person of ordinary skill in the art would understand that various illustrative logical blocks, modules, devices, components, and circuits described herein can be implemented within or performed by an integrated circuit (IC) that can include a general purpose processor, a digital signal processor (DSP) , an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) , a field programmable gate array (FPGA) or other programmable logic device, or any combination thereof. The logical blocks, modules, and circuits can further include antennas and / or transceivers to communicate with various components within the network or within the device. A general purpose processor can be a microprocessor, but in the alternative, the processor can be any conventional processor, controller, or state machine. A processor can also be implemented as a combination of computing devices, e.g., a combination of a DSP and a microprocessor, a plurality of microprocessors, one or multiple microprocessors in conjunction with a DSP core, or any other suitable configuration to perform the functions described herein.

[0108] If implemented in software, the functions can be stored as one or multiple instructions or code on a computer-readable medium. Thus, the steps of a method or algorithm disclosed herein can be implemented as software stored on a computer-readable medium. Computer-readable media includes both computer storage media and communication media including any medium that can be enabled to transfer a computer program or code from one place to another. A storage media can be any available media that can be accessed by a computer. By way of example, and not limitation, such computer-readable media can include RAM, ROM, EEPROM, CD-ROM or other optical disk storage, magnetic disk storage or other magnetic storage devices, or any other medium that can be used to store desired program code in the form of instructions or data structures and that can be accessed by a computer.

[0109] In this document, the term “module” as used herein, refers to software, firmware, hardware, and any combination of these elements for performing the associated functions described herein. Additionally, for purpose of discussion, the various modules are described as discrete modules; however, as would be apparent to one of ordinary skill in the art, two or more modules may be combined to form a single module that performs the associated functions according to embodiments of the present solution.

[0110] Additionally, memory or other storage, as well as communication components, may be employed in embodiments of the present solution. It will be appreciated that, for clarity purposes, the above description has described embodiments of the present solution with reference to different functional units and processors. However, it will be apparent that any suitable distribution of functionality between different functional units, processing logic elements or domains may be used without detracting from the present solution. For example, functionality illustrated to be performed by separate processing logic elements, or controllers, may be performed by the same processing logic element, or controller. Hence, references to specific functional units are only references to a suitable means for providing the described functionality, rather than indicative of a strict logical or physical structure or organization.

[0111] Various modifications to the embodiments described in this disclosure will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art, and the general principles defined herein can be applied to other embodiments without departing from the scope of this disclosure. Thus, the disclosure is not intended to be limited to the embodiments shown herein but is to be accorded the widest scope consistent with the novel features and principles disclosed herein, as recited in the claims below.
