Description

UNUSED TRANSMISSION OCCASION UPLINK CONTROL INFORMATION FOR CONFIGURED GRANT PHYSICAL UPLINK SHARED CHANNEL TRANSMISSION OCCASIONS

[0001] FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE

[0002] Aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication and specifically relate to techniques, apparatuses, and methods associated with unused transmission occasion uplink control information for configured grant physical uplink shared channel transmission occasions.BACKGROUND

[0003] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various services that may include carrying voice, text, messaging, video, data, and / or other traffic. The services may include unicast, multicast, and / or broadcast services, among other examples. Typical wireless communication systems may employ multiple-access radio access technologies (RATs) capable of supporting communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (for example, time domain resources, frequency domain resources, spatial domain resources, and / or device transmit power, among other examples) . Examples of such multiple-access RATs include code division multiple access (CDMA) systems, time division multiple access (TDMA) systems, frequency division multiple access (FDMA) systems, orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems, single-carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) systems, and time division synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA) systems.

[0004] The above multiple-access RATs have been adopted in various telecommunication standards to provide common protocols that enable different wireless communication devices to communicate on a municipal, national, regional, or global level. An example telecommunication standard is New Radio (NR) . NR, which may also be referred to as 5G, is part of a continuous mobile broadband evolution promulgated by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) . NR (and other mobile broadband evolutions beyond NR) may be designed to better support Internet of things (IoT) and reduced capability device deployments, industrial connectivity, millimeter wave (mmWave) expansion, licensed and unlicensed spectrum access, non-terrestrial network (NTN) deployment, sidelink and other device-to-device direct communication technologies (for example, cellular vehicle-to-everything (CV2X) communication) ,  massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) , disaggregated network architectures and network topology expansions, multiple-subscriber implementations, high-precision positioning, and / or radio frequency (RF) sensing, among other examples. As the demand for mobile broadband access continues to increase, further improvements in NR may be implemented, and other radio access technologies such as 6G may be introduced, to further advance mobile broadband evolution.

[0005] A user equipment (UE) may receive downlink control information (DCI) that generates a hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgement (HARQ-ACK) in uplink control information (UCI) that overlaps with a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) repetition. Because the UE may be configured to identify whether the UCI overlaps with the PUSCH repetition a configured time window before the first PUSCH repetition transmission time, the DCI may be transmitted a significant length of time before the UCI transmission time. Additionally or alternatively, when configured with configured grant (CG) PUSCH repetitions or transport block (TB) over multiple slots (TBoMS) , the UE may transmit unused transmission occasion UCI (UTO-UCI) that is inconsistent with an on or off setting of a startingFromRV0 parameter.SUMMARY

[0006] Some aspects described herein relate to an apparatus for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) . The apparatus may include one or more memories storing processor-executable code and one or more processors coupled with the one or more memories. At least one processor of the one or more processors may be configured to cause the UE to receive a configuration associated with uplink skipping. At least one processor of the one or more processors may be configured to cause the UE to receive a configuration associated with a plurality of configured grant (CG) physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission occasions that are associated with a transport block (TB) . At least one processor of the one or more processors may be configured to cause the UE to transmit, in accordance with the configuration associated with uplink skipping and the configuration associated with the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions, unused transmission occasion uplink control information (UTO-UCI) indicating whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by the UE.

[0040] Several aspects of telecommunication systems will now be presented with reference to various methods, operations, apparatuses, and techniques. These methods, operations, apparatuses, and techniques will be described in the following detailed description and illustrated in the accompanying drawings by various blocks, modules, components, circuits, steps, processes, or algorithms (collectively referred to as “elements” ) . These elements may be implemented using hardware, software, or a combination of hardware and software. Whether such elements are implemented as hardware or software depends upon the particular application and design constraints imposed on the overall system.

[0041] A user equipment (UE) may be configured with configured grant (CG) physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission occasions for PUSCH with repetition. A media access control (MAC) layer of the UE may decide whether to generate a protocol data unit (PDU) for the PUSCH with repetition. The decision applies to all PUSCH repetitions, which does not allow PUSCH skipping on a per-repetition basis. As a result, the UE decides whether to generate the PDU before the first repetition occurs, and the decision (once made) may not be overridden for later repetitions.

[0042] In some examples, the UE may receive downlink control information (DCI) that schedules a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission and generates a hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgement (HARQ-ACK) in uplink control information (UCI) that overlaps with a PUSCH repetition. Because the PUSCH repetition overlaps with the UCI and cannot be skipped, the UE identifies whether the UCI overlaps with the PUSCH repetition a configured time window before the first PUSCH repetition transmission time. As a result, downlink control and data scheduling are stringently restricted. For example, the DCI may be issued a significant length of time before the UCI transmission time.

[0043] Furthermore, a CG configuration may be configured with a startingFromRV0 parameter set to off or on. If the startingFromRV0 parameter is set to off, then the initial transmission of a transport block (TB) may start at a first transmission occasion of K  repetitions. If the startingFromRV0 parameter is set to on, then the initial transmission of a TB may start at: the first transmission occasion of the K repetitions if the configured redundancy version (RV) sequence is {0, 2, 3, 1} ; any of the transmission occasions of the K repetitions that are associated with RV 0 (RV0) if the configured RV sequence is {0, 3, 0, 3} ; or any of the transmission occasions of the K repetitions if the configured RV sequence is {0, 0, 0, 0} , except the last transmission occasion if K ≥ 8. Setting the startingFromRV0 parameter to off may disallow UE skipping of subsets of repetitions (or TB over multiple slots (TBoMS) ) at the beginning of the K repetitions. Setting the startingFromRV0 parameter to on may allow UE skipping of subsets of repetitions (or TBoMS) at the beginning of the K repetitions.

[0044] When the UE is configured with CG PUSCH repetitions or TBoMS, a UTO-UCI transmitted by the UE may be inconsistent with the startingFromRV0 parameter setting. For example, if the startingFromRV0 parameter is set to off, then the UTO-UCI may not indicate that the initial transmission of the TB starts at the first transmission occasion of K repetitions. Additionally or alternatively, if the startingFromRV0 parameter is set to on, then the UTO-UCI may not indicate that the initial transmission of the TB starts at the appropriate transmission occasion within the RV sequence.

[0045] Various aspects relate generally to UTO-UCI for CG PUSCH transmission occasions. Some aspects more specifically relate to UTO-UCI indicating whether a plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by the UE. The UTO-UCI may be transmitted or received in accordance with a configuration associated with uplink skipping and a configuration associated with the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions. For example, the UTO-UCI may be transmitted or received while uplink skipping is configured with CG PUSCH repetition or TBoMS.

[0046] In some examples, if the UTO-UCI indicates that a CG PUSCH transmission occasion is unused by the UE, then the UE may transmit the UCI in a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) . In some examples, if the UTO-UCI indicates that a CG PUSCH transmission occasion is not unused by the UE, then the UE may transmit the UCI multiplexed with a CG PUSCH communication in the CG PUSCH transmission occasion.

[0047] In some aspects, UTO-UCI indicating whether a plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by the UE may be transmitted or received in accordance with a configuration associated with transmissions of a TB within the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions (for example, CG PUSCH transmission  occasions configured for CG PUSCH repetition or TBoMS) . For example, the configuration may configure a startingFromRV0 parameter as off or on. The UTO-UCI may indicate whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by the UE based at least in part on whether the startingFromRV0 parameter is set to off or on.

[0048] In some examples, an initial transmission of the transmissions may be configured to start at an initial CG PUSCH transmission occasion of the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions. For example, the startingFromRV0 parameter may be set to off. The UTO-UCI may contain a plurality of bits indicating whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by the UE. Each bit of the plurality of bits may have the same value. For example, the bits may indicate that all of the CG PUSCH transmission occasions associated with the TB have a value of zero, or that all of the CG PUSCH transmission occasions have a value of one. Thus, in some examples, UTO-UCI may indicate that the UE 120 may transmit the transmissions in all of the CG PUSCH transmission occasions (corresponding to bit values of zero) or in none of the CG PUSCH transmission occasions (corresponding to bit values of one) .

[0049] In some examples, an initial transmission of the transmissions may be configured to start at an initial or subsequent CG PUSCH transmission occasion, of the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions, that is associated with RV0. For example, the startingFromRV0 parameter may be set to on. The UTO-UCI may contain a plurality of bits indicating whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by the UE 120. For example, the plurality of bits may correspond to respective CG PUSCH transmission occasions for the same TB. The UTO-UCI may contain at least two consecutive bits of the plurality of bits. A first bit of the consecutive bits (for example, bit i-1) may have a first value (for example, zero or one) and a second bit of the consecutive bits (for example, bit i) may have a second value that is different than the first value (for example, one or zero) . For example, bit i-1 may be zero and bit i may be one, or bit i-1 may be one and bit i may be zero. Thus, the UTO-UCI may indicate that some of the CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused and others of the CG PUSCH transmission occasions are not unused.

[0050] Particular aspects of the subject matter described in this disclosure can be implemented to realize one or more of the following potential advantages. In some examples, by transmitting or receiving the UTO-UCI in accordance with the configuration associated with uplink skipping and the configuration associated with the  plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions, the described techniques can be used to enable the UE to configure uplink skipping and the configuration associated with the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions (for example, CG PUSCH repetition or TBoMS) simultaneously. Therefore, the UE may skip individual PUSCH transmissions in the PUSCH transmission occasions. As a result, the UE may no longer be required to commit to a decision of whether to transmit a PUSCH communication in a CG PUSCH transmission occasion before the first CG PUSCH transmission occasion. For example, the UE may receive DCI within a configured time window of the first PUSCH transmission occasion. Thus, transmitting or receiving the UTO-UCI may improve flexibility in downlink control and data scheduling.

[0051] Transmitting or receiving the UTO-UCI in accordance with the configuration associated with the transmissions of the TB within the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions may help to ensure that the UTO-UCI indicates information that is consistent with the configuration when CG PUSCH repetition or TBoMS is configured. For example, the initial transmission of the transmissions being configured to start at an initial CG PUSCH transmission occasion of the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions, and the UTO-UCI containing a plurality of bits indicating whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by the UE 120, each bit of the plurality of bits having a same value, may help to ensure consistency in cases where the startingFromRV0 parameter is set to off. The initial transmission of the transmissions being configured to start at an initial or subsequent CG PUSCH transmission occasion, of the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions, that is associated with RV0, the UTO-UCI containing a plurality of bits indicating whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by the UE 120, a first bit of the plurality of bits having a first value, a second bit of the plurality of bits having a second value that is different than the first value, and the first bit and the second bit being consecutive may help to ensure consistency in cases where the startingFromRV0 parameter is set to on.

[0052] Multiple-access radio access technologies (RATs) have been adopted in various telecommunication standards to provide common protocols that enable wireless communication devices to communicate on a municipal, enterprise, national, regional, or global level. For example, 5G New Radio (NR) is part of a continuous mobile broadband evolution promulgated by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) . 5G NR supports various technologies and use cases including enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) , ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) , massive machine-type  communication (mMTC) , millimeter wave (mmWave) technology, beamforming, network slicing, edge computing, Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity and management, and network function virtualization (NFV) .

[0053] As the demand for broadband access increases and as technologies supported by wireless communication networks evolve, further technological improvements may be adopted in or implemented for 5G NR or future RATs, such as 6G, to further advance the evolution of wireless communication for a wide variety of existing and new use cases and applications. Such technological improvements may be associated with new frequency band expansion, licensed and unlicensed spectrum access, overlapping spectrum use, small cell deployments, non-terrestrial network (NTN) deployments, disaggregated network architectures and network topology expansion, device aggregation, advanced duplex communication, sidelink and other device-to-device direct communication, IoT (including passive or ambient IoT) networks, reduced capability (RedCap) UE functionality, industrial connectivity, multiple-subscriber implementations, high-precision positioning, radio frequency (RF) sensing, and / or artificial intelligence or machine learning (AI / ML) , among other examples. These technological improvements may support use cases such as wireless backhauls, wireless data centers, extended reality (XR) and metaverse applications, meta services for supporting vehicle connectivity, holographic and mixed reality communication, autonomous and collaborative robots, vehicle platooning and cooperative maneuvering, sensing networks, gesture monitoring, human-brain interfacing, digital twin applications, asset management, and universal coverage applications using non-terrestrial and / or aerial platforms, among other examples. The methods, operations, apparatuses, and techniques described herein may enable one or more of the foregoing technologies and / or support one or more of the foregoing use cases.

[0054] Figure 1 is a diagram illustrating an example of a wireless communication network 100. The wireless communication network 100 may be or may include elements of a 5G (or NR) network or a 6G network, among other examples. The wireless communication network 100 may include multiple network nodes 110, shown as a network node (NN) 110a, a network node 110b, a network node 110c, and a network node 110d. The network nodes 110 may support communications with multiple UEs 120, shown as a UE 120a, a UE 120b, a UE 120c, a UE 120d, and a UE 120e.

[0055] The network nodes 110 and the UEs 120 of the wireless communication network 100 may communicate using the electromagnetic spectrum, which may be  subdivided by frequency or wavelength into various classes, bands, carriers, and / or channels. For example, devices of the wireless communication network 100 may communicate using one or more operating bands. In some aspects, multiple wireless communication networks 100 may be deployed in a given geographic area. Each wireless communication network 100 may support a particular RAT (which may also be referred to as an air interface) and may operate on one or more carrier frequencies in one or more frequency ranges. Examples of RATs include a 4G RAT, a 5G / NR RAT, and / or a 6G RAT, among other examples. In some examples, when multiple RATs are deployed in a given geographic area, each RAT in the geographic area may operate on different frequencies to avoid interference with one another.

[0056] Various operating bands have been defined as frequency range designations FR1 (410 MHz through 7.125 GHz) , FR2 (24.25 GHz through 52.6 GHz) , FR3 (7.125 GHz through 24.25 GHz) , FR4a or FR4-1 (52.6 GHz through 71 GHz) , FR4 (52.6 GHz through 114.25 GHz) , and FR5 (114.25 GHz through 300 GHz) . Although a portion of FR1 is greater than 6 GHz, FR1 is often referred to (interchangeably) as a “Sub-6 GHz” band in some documents and articles. Similarly, FR2 is often referred to (interchangeably) as a “millimeter wave” band in some documents and articles, despite being different than the extremely high frequency (EHF) band (30 GHz through 300 GHz) , which is identified by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) as a “millimeter wave” band. The frequencies between FR1 and FR2 are often referred to as mid-band frequencies, which include FR3. Frequency bands falling within FR3 may inherit FR1 characteristics or FR2 characteristics, and thus may effectively extend features of FR1 or FR2 into mid-band frequencies. Thus, “sub-6 GHz, ” if used herein, may broadly refer to frequencies that are less than 6 GHz, that are within FR1, and / or that are included in mid-band frequencies. Similarly, the term “millimeter wave, ” if used herein, may broadly refer to frequencies that are included in mid-band frequencies, that are within FR2, FR4, FR4-a or FR4-1, or FR5, and / or that are within the EHF band. Higher frequency bands may extend 5G NR operation, 6G operation, and / or other RATs beyond 52.6 GHz. For example, each of FR4a, FR4-1, FR4, and FR5 falls within the EHF band. In some examples, the wireless communication network 100 may implement dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) , in which multiple RATs (for example, 4G / Long-Term Evolution (LTE) and 5G / NR) are implemented with dynamic bandwidth allocation (for example, based on user demand) in a single frequency band. It is contemplated that the frequencies included in these operating bands (for example, FR1, FR2, FR3, FR4, FR4-a,  FR4-1, and / or FR5) may be modified, and techniques described herein may be applicable to those modified frequency ranges.

[0057] A network node 110 may include one or more devices, components, or systems that enable communication between a UE 120 and one or more devices, components, or systems of the wireless communication network 100. A network node 110 may be, may include, or may also be referred to as an NR network node, a 5G network node, a 6G network node, a Node B, an eNB, a gNB, an access point (AP) , a transmission reception point (TRP) , a mobility element, a core, a network entity, a network element, a network equipment, and / or another type of device, component, or system included in a radio access network (RAN) .

[0058] A network node 110 may be implemented as a single physical node (for example, a single physical structure) or may be implemented as two or more physical nodes (for example, two or more distinct physical structures) . For example, a network node 110 may be a device or system that implements part of a radio protocol stack, a device or system that implements a full radio protocol stack (such as a full gNB protocol stack) , or a collection of devices or systems that collectively implement the full radio protocol stack. For example, and as shown, a network node 110 may be an aggregated network node (having an aggregated architecture) , meaning that the network node 110 may implement a full radio protocol stack that is physically and logically integrated within a single node (for example, a single physical structure) in the wireless communication network 100. For example, an aggregated network node 110 may consist of a single standalone base station or a single TRP that uses a full radio protocol stack to enable or facilitate communication between a UE 120 and a core network of the wireless communication network 100.

[0059] Alternatively, and as also shown, a network node 110 may be a disaggregated network node (sometimes referred to as a disaggregated base station) , meaning that the network node 110 may implement a radio protocol stack that is physically distributed and / or logically distributed among two or more nodes in the same geographic location or in different geographic locations. For example, a disaggregated network node may have a disaggregated architecture. In some deployments, disaggregated network nodes 110 may be used in an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) network, in an open radio access network (O-RAN) (such as a network configuration in compliance with the O-RAN Alliance) , or in a virtualized radio access network (vRAN) , also known as a cloud radio  access network (C-RAN) , to facilitate scaling by separating base station functionality into multiple units that can be individually deployed.

[0060] The network nodes 110 of the wireless communication network 100 may include one or more central units (CUs) , one or more distributed units (DUs) , and / or one or more radio units (RUs) . A CU may host one or more higher layer control functions, such as radio resource control (RRC) functions, packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) functions, and / or service data adaptation protocol (SDAP) functions, among other examples. A DU may host one or more of a radio link control (RLC) layer, a medium access control (MAC) layer, and / or one or more higher physical (PHY) layers depending, at least in part, on a functional split, such as a functional split defined by the 3GPP. In some examples, a DU also may host one or more lower PHY layer functions, such as a fast Fourier transform (FFT) , an inverse FFT (iFFT) , beamforming, physical random access channel (PRACH) extraction and filtering, and / or scheduling of resources for one or more UEs 120, among other examples. An RU may host RF processing functions or lower PHY layer functions, such as an FFT, an iFFT, beamforming, or PRACH extraction and filtering, among other examples, according to a functional split, such as a lower layer functional split. In such an architecture, each RU can be operated to handle over the air (OTA) communication with one or more UEs 120.

[0061] In some aspects, a single network node 110 may include a combination of one or more CUs, one or more DUs, and / or one or more RUs. Additionally or alternatively, a network node 110 may include one or more Near-Real Time (Near-RT) RAN Intelligent Controllers (RICs) and / or one or more Non-Real Time (Non-RT) RICs. In some examples, a CU, a DU, and / or an RU may be implemented as a virtual unit, such as a virtual central unit (VCU) , a virtual distributed unit (VDU) , or a virtual radio unit (VRU) , among other examples. A virtual unit may be implemented as a virtual network function, such as associated with a cloud deployment.

[0062] Some network nodes 110 (for example, a base station, an RU, or a TRP) may provide communication coverage for a particular geographic area. In the 3GPP, the term “cell” can refer to a coverage area of a network node 110 or to a network node 110 itself, depending on the context in which the term is used. A network node 110 may support one or multiple (for example, three) cells. In some examples, a network node 110 may provide communication coverage for a macro cell, a pico cell, a femto cell, or another type of cell. A macro cell may cover a relatively large geographic area (for example, several kilometers in radius) and may allow unrestricted access by UEs 120 with service  subscriptions. A pico cell may cover a relatively small geographic area and may allow unrestricted access by UEs 120 with service subscriptions. A femto cell may cover a relatively small geographic area (for example, a home) and may allow restricted access by UEs 120 having association with the femto cell (for example, UEs 120 in a closed subscriber group (CSG) ) . A network node 110 for a macro cell may be referred to as a macro network node. A network node 110 for a pico cell may be referred to as a pico network node. A network node 110 for a femto cell may be referred to as a femto network node or an in-home network node.

[0063] The wireless communication network 100 may be a heterogeneous network that includes network nodes 110 of different types, such as macro network nodes, pico network nodes, femto network nodes, relay network nodes, aggregated network nodes, and / or disaggregated network nodes, among other examples. In the example shown in Figure 1, the network node 110a may be a macro network node for a macro cell 130a, the network node 110b may be a pico network node for a pico cell 130b, and the network node 110c may be a femto network node for a femto cell 130c. Various different types of network nodes 110 may generally transmit at different power levels, serve different coverage areas, and / or have different impacts on interference in the wireless communication network 100 than other types of network nodes 110. For example, macro network nodes may have a high transmit power level (for example, 5 to 40 watts) , whereas pico network nodes, femto network nodes, and relay network nodes may have lower transmit power levels (for example, 0.1 to 2 watts) .

[0064] In some examples, a network node 110 may be, may include, or may operate as an RU, a TRP, or a base station that communicates with one or more UEs 120 via a radio access link (which may be referred to as a “Uu” link) . The radio access link may include a downlink and an uplink. “Downlink” (or “DL” ) refers to a communication direction from a network node 110 to a UE 120, and “uplink” (or “UL” ) refers to a communication direction from a UE 120 to a network node 110.

[0065] In some examples, any network node 110 that relays communications may be referred to as a relay network node, a relay station, or simply as a relay. A relay may receive a transmission of a communication from an upstream station (for example, another network node 110 or a UE 120) and transmit the communication to a downstream station (for example, a UE 120 or another network node 110) . In this case, the wireless communication network 100 may include or be referred to as a “multi-hop network. ” In the example shown in Figure 1, the network node 110d (for example, a relay network  node) may communicate with the network node 110a (for example, a macro network node) and the UE 120d in order to facilitate communication between the network node 110a and the UE 120d. Additionally or alternatively, a UE 120 may be or may operate as a relay station that can relay transmissions to or from other UEs 120. A UE 120 that relays communications may be referred to as a UE relay or a relay UE, among other examples.

[0066] The UEs 120 may be physically dispersed throughout the wireless communication network 100, and each UE 120 may be stationary or mobile. A UE 120 may be, may include, or may be included in an access terminal, another terminal, a mobile station, or a subscriber unit. A UE 120 may be, include, or be coupled with a cellular phone (for example, a smart phone) , a personal digital assistant (PDA) , a wireless modem, a wireless communication device, a handheld device, a laptop computer, a cordless phone, a wireless local loop (WLL) station, a tablet, a camera, a gaming device, a netbook, a smartbook, an ultrabook, a medical device, a biometric device, a wearable device (for example, a smart watch, smart clothing, smart glasses, a smart wristband, and / or smart jewelry, such as a smart ring or a smart bracelet) , an entertainment device (for example, a music device, a video device, and / or a satellite radio) , an XR device, a vehicular component or sensor, a smart meter or sensor, industrial manufacturing equipment, a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) device (such as a Global Positioning System device or another type of positioning device) , a UE function of a network node, and / or any other suitable device or function that may communicate via a wireless medium.

[0067] A UE 120 and / or a network node 110 may include one or more chips, system-on-chips (SoCs) , chipsets, packages, or devices that individually or collectively constitute or comprise a processing system. The processing system includes processor (or “processing” ) circuitry in the form of one or multiple processors, microprocessors, processing units (such as central processing units (CPUs) , graphics processing units (GPUs) , neural processing units (NPUs) and / or digital signal processors (DSPs) ) , processing blocks, application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC) , programmable logic devices (PLDs) (such as field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) ) , or other discrete gate or transistor logic or circuitry (all of which may be generally referred to herein individually as “processors” or collectively as “the processor” or “the processor circuitry” ) . One or more of the processors may be individually or collectively configurable or configured to perform various functions or operations described herein.  A group of processors collectively configurable or configured to perform a set of functions may include a first processor configurable or configured to perform a first function of the set and a second processor configurable or configured to perform a second function of the set, or may include the group of processors all being configured or configurable to perform the set of functions.

[0068] The processing system may further include memory circuitry in the form of one or more memory devices, memory blocks, memory elements or other discrete gate or transistor logic or circuitry, each of which may include tangible storage media such as random-access memory (RAM) or read-only memory (ROM) , or combinations thereof (all of which may be generally referred to herein individually as “memories” or collectively as “the memory” or “the memory circuitry” ) . One or more of the memories may be coupled (for example, operatively coupled, communicatively coupled, electronically coupled, or electrically coupled) with one or more of the processors and may individually or collectively store processor-executable code (such as software) that, when executed by one or more of the processors, may configure one or more of the processors to perform various functions or operations described herein. Additionally or alternatively, in some examples, one or more of the processors may be preconfigured to perform various functions or operations described herein without requiring configuration by software. The processing system may further include or be coupled with one or more modems (such as a Wi-Fi (for example, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) compliant) modem or a cellular (for example, 3GPP 4G LTE, 5G, or 6G compliant) modem) . In some implementations, one or more processors of the processing system include or implement one or more of the modems. The processing system may further include or be coupled with multiple radios (collectively “the radio” ) , multiple RF chains, or multiple transceivers, each of which may in turn be coupled with one or more of multiple antennas. In some implementations, one or more processors of the processing system include or implement one or more of the radios, RF chains or transceivers. The UE 120 may include or may be included in a housing that houses components associated with the UE 120 including the processing system.

[0069] In some examples, two or more UEs 120 (for example, shown as UE 120a and UE 120e) may communicate directly with one another using sidelink communications (for example, without communicating by way of a network node 110 as an intermediary) . As an example, the UE 120a may directly transmit data, control information, or other signaling as a sidelink communication to the UE 120e. This is in contrast to, for example,  the UE 120a first transmitting data in an UL communication to a network node 110, which then transmits the data to the UE 120e in a DL communication.

[0070] In some aspects, the UE 120 may include a communication manager 140. As described in more detail elsewhere herein, the communication manager 140 may receive a configuration associated with uplink skipping; receive a configuration associated with a plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions that are associated with a TB; and transmit, in accordance with the configuration associated with uplink skipping and the configuration associated with the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions, UTO-UCI indicating whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by the UE 120.

[0071] In some aspects, the communication manager 140 may receive a configuration associated with transmissions of a TB within a plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions that are associated with the TB; and transmit, in accordance with the configuration associated with the transmissions of the TB within the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions, unused transmission occasion UTO-UCI indicating whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by the UE 120. Additionally or alternatively, the communication manager 140 may perform one or more other operations described herein.

[0072] In some aspects, the network node 110 may include a communication manager 150. As described in more detail elsewhere herein, the communication manager 150 may transmit a configuration associated with uplink skipping; transmit a configuration associated with a plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions that are associated with a TB; and receive, in accordance with the configuration associated with uplink skipping and the configuration associated with the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions, UTO-UCI indicating whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by a UE 120.

[0073] In some aspects, the communication manager 150 may transmit a configuration associated with transmissions of a TB within a plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions that are associated with the TB; and receive, in accordance with the configuration associated with the transmissions of the TB within the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions, UTO-UCI indicating whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by a UE 120. Additionally or alternatively, the communication manager 150 may perform one or more other operations described herein.

[0095] In some aspects, the network node 110 includes means for transmitting a configuration associated with transmissions of a TB within a plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions that are associated with the TB; and / or means for receiving, in accordance with the configuration associated with the transmissions of the TB within the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions, UTO-UCI indicating whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by a UE 120. The means for the network node to perform operations described herein may include, for example, one or more of communication manager 150, transmit processor 220, TX MIMO processor 230, modem 232, antenna 234, MIMO detector 236, receive processor 238, controller / processor 240, memory 242, or scheduler 246.

[0096] Figure 3 is a diagram illustrating an example 300 of uplink configured grant (CG) communication. CG communications may include periodic uplink communications that are configured for a UE, such that the base station does not need to send separate DCI to schedule each uplink communication, thereby conserving signaling overhead.

[0097] As shown in example 300, a UE may be configured with a CG configuration for CG communications. For example, the UE may receive the CG configuration via an RRC message transmitted by a base station. The CG configuration may indicate a resource allocation associated with CG uplink communications (for example, in a time domain, frequency domain, spatial domain, and / or code domain) and a periodicity at which the resource allocation is repeated, resulting in periodically reoccurring scheduled CG occasions 305 for the UE. In some examples, the CG configuration may identify a resource pool or multiple resource pools that are available to the UE for an uplink transmission. The CG configuration may configure contention-free CG communications (for example, where resources are dedicated for the UE to transmit uplink communications) or contention-based CG communications (for example, where the UE contends for access to a channel in the configured resource allocation, such as by using a channel access procedure or a channel sensing procedure) .

[0098] The base station may transmit CG activation DCI to the UE to activate the CG configuration for the UE. The base station may indicate, in the CG activation DCI, communication parameters, such as an MCS, a resource block (RB) allocation, and / or antenna ports, for the CG physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) communications to be transmitted in the scheduled CG occasions 305. The UE may begin transmitting in the CG occasions 305 based at least in part on receiving the CG activation DCI. For example, beginning with a next scheduled CG occasion 305 subsequent to receiving the CG activation DCI, the UE may transmit a PUSCH communication in the scheduled CG occasions 305 using the communication parameters indicated in the CG activation DCI. The UE may refrain from transmitting in configured CG occasions 305 prior to receiving the CG activation DCI.

[0099] The base station may transmit CG reactivation DCI to the UE to change the communication parameters for the CG PUSCH communications. Based at least in part on receiving the CG reactivation DCI, and the UE may begin transmitting in the scheduled CG occasions 305 using the communication parameters indicated in the CG reactivation DCI. For example, beginning with a next scheduled CG occasion 305 subsequent to receiving the CG reactivation DCI, the UE may transmit PUSCH communications in the scheduled CG occasions 305 based at least in part on the communication parameters indicated in the CG reactivation DCI.

[0100] In some examples, such as when the base station needs to override a scheduled CG communication for a higher priority communication, the base station may transmit CG cancellation DCI to the UE to temporarily cancel or deactivate one or more subsequent CG occasions 305 for the UE. The CG cancellation DCI may deactivate only a subsequent one CG occasion 305 or a subsequent N CG occasions 305 (where N is an integer) . CG occasions 305 after the one or more (for example, N) CG occasions 305 subsequent to the CG cancellation DCI may remain activated. Based at least in part on receiving the CG cancellation DCI, the UE may refrain from transmitting in the one or more (for example, N) CG occasions 305 subsequent to receiving the CG cancellation DCI. As shown in example 300, the CG cancellation DCI cancels one subsequent CG occasion 305 for the UE. After the CG occasion 305 (or N CG occasions) subsequent to receiving the CG cancellation DCI, the UE may automatically resume transmission in the scheduled CG occasions 305.

[0101] The base station may transmit CG release DCI to the UE to deactivate the CG configuration for the UE. The UE may stop transmitting in the scheduled CG occasions  305 based at least in part on receiving the CG release DCI. For example, the UE may refrain from transmitting in any scheduled CG occasions 305 until another CG activation DCI is received from the base station. Whereas the CG cancellation DCI may deactivate only a subsequent one CG occasion 305 or a subsequent N CG occasions 305, the CG release DCI deactivates all subsequent CG occasions 305 for a given CG configuration for the UE until the given CG configuration is activated again by a new CG activation DCI.

[0102] Figure 4 is a diagram illustrating examples 400 and 410 associated with CG PUSCH transmission occasions for video communications.

[0103] Example 400 involves CG PUSCH transmission occasions for XR uplink video communications. By providing periodic pre-configured uplink resources, a CG may avoid UE dynamic resource requests and network assignments that are responsive to scheduling requests (SRs) and / or buffer status reporting (BSR) . Thus, CG may be suitable for low-latency periodic traffic, such as XR video. However, unlike voice and uplink control and / or pose packet sizes, video packet size can be large and random. As a result, the network may configure sufficient uplink resources that can accommodate the largest possible XR video packet size. For example, a network node 110 may configure the XR video generation cycle 420 with a quantity of PUSCH transmission occasions 430 that can accommodate the largest possible XR video packet size. Although capable of reducing delay in XR video transfer, this approach may be resource-inefficient due to statistical overbudgeting and waste of uplink resources. For example, pre-configured resources within the XR video generation cycle 420 may be larger than the average video packet size. Therefore, the UE 120 may frequently not use the PUSCH transmission occasions 430 in the XR video generation cycle 420.

[0104] In example 410, the UE 120 may transmit UTO-UCI 440 in (for example, contained by) CG PUSCH transmission in PUSCH transmission occasions 430. The UTO-UCI 440 may enable the UE 120 to indicate unused CG PUSCH occasions and thereby avoid wasting uplink resources. The UTO-UCI 440 may contain a bitmap. The size of the bitmap may be configured via RRC and a maximum of eight bits. Each bit of the bitmap in the UTO-UCI 440 may indicate whether a single pre-configured, future CG PUSCH transmission occasion is unused. For example, a bit value of zero may indicate that the corresponding future CG PUSCH transmission occasion is not unused, and a bit value of one may indicate that the corresponding future CG PUSCH transmission  occasion is unused. A CG PUSCH occasion may be identified based at least in part on a time domain resource allocation (TDRA) configuration for the CG.

[0105] If a UE 120 supports uplink skipping, then the UE 120 is allowed to skip a PUSCH transmission over scheduled or configured uplink resources for PUSCH in case there is no uplink data to transmit in the PUSCH transmission. Uplink skipping may enable the UE 120 to conserve power that would otherwise be used to transmit dummy uplink data. Additionally or alternatively, uplink skipping may avoid interference, experienced by the network node 110, with uplink transmissions from other UEs.

[0106] In some examples, a UE 120 may be configured for PUSCH repetition, which enables the UE 120 to repeat a PUSCH transmission of a TB in respective PUSCH transmission occasions. Uplink skipping and PUSCH repetition may not be supported simultaneously. For example, if an uplink skipping parameter (for example, skipUplinkTxDynamic, enhancedSkipUplinkTxDynamic, or enhancedSkipUplinkTxConfigured, among other examples) is set to true, then the UE 120 may skip uplink transmissions. If the UE 120 is configured with enhancedSkipUplinkTxDynamic or enhancedSkipUplinkTxConfigured with a value true, then a repetition parameter (for example, a higher-layer parameter, such as REPETITION_NUMBER) of a corresponding PUSCH transmission of an uplink grant may be equal to one.

[0107] Similarly, uplink skipping and TBoMS may not be supported simultaneously. A UE 120 that is configured for TBoMS may transmit a TB over multiple slots (for example, the TB may not be constrained to a single slot) . A UE 120 may not enable both skipping an uplink transmission and TBoMS (for example, these two features may not be configured at the same time on a UE 120) .

[0108] Figure 5 is a diagram illustrating an example 500 of UCI scheduling with PUSCH repetition.

[0109] As shown, CG PUSCH transmission occasions 505 for PUSCH with repetition are configured on a UE 120. A MAC layer of the UE 120 may decide whether to generate a protocol data unit (PDU) for the PUSCH with repetition. The decision applies to all PUSCH repetitions, which does not allow PUSCH skipping on a per-repetition basis. As a result, the UE 120 decides whether to generate the PDU before the first repetition occurs, and the decision (once made) may not be overridden for later repetitions.

[0110] The UE 120 may receive DCI 510 that schedules a PDSCH transmission and generates a hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgement (HARQ-ACK) for the PDSCH in UCI 515 that overlaps with a PUSCH repetition. Because the PUSCH repetition overlaps with the UCI 515 and therefore cannot be skipped, the UE 120 may identify whether the UCI 515 overlaps with the PUSCH repetition a time window (for example,  ) before the first PUSCH repetition transmission time. As a result, downlink control and data scheduling are stringently restricted. For example, the DCI 510 may be issued a significant length of time before the UCI transmission time.

[0111] The UE 120 may apply RV cycling to PUSCH repetitions to transmit different RVs of the PUSCH repetition in different CG PUSCH transmission occasions 505. “RV of a PUSCH repetition” refers to a set of encoded bits that are transmitted for that PUSCH repetition. Using RV cycling, the UE 120 transmits a different set of encoded bits in different PUSCH repetitions of the TB. The particular bits that are selected to be included in the set of encoded bits for a PUSCH repetition depend on (or are defined by) the RV of that PUSCH repetition. In some examples, a PUSCH repetition may have RV0, RV 1 (RV1) , RV 2 (RV2) , or RV 3 (RV3) . Example 500 involves RV sequence {RV0, RV2, RV3, RV1} , but other RV sequences are also permitted, such as {RV0, RV3, RV0, RV3} or {RV0, RV0, RV0, RV0} .

[0112] A CG configuration may be configured with a startingFromRV0 parameter set to off or on. If the startingFromRV0 parameter is set to off, then the initial transmission of a TB may start at a first transmission occasion of K repetitions. If the startingFromRV0 parameter is set to on, then the initial transmission of a TB may start at: the first transmission occasion of the K repetitions if the configured RV sequence is {0, 2, 3, 1} ; any of the transmission occasions of the K repetitions that are associated with RV0 if the configured RV sequence is {0, 3, 0, 3} ; or any of the transmission occasions of the K repetitions if the configured RV sequence is {0, 0, 0, 0} , except the last transmission occasion if K ≥ 8. Setting the startingFromRV0 parameter to off may disallow UE skipping of subsets of repetitions (or TBoMS) at the beginning of the K repetitions. Setting the startingFromRV0 parameter to on may allow UE skipping of subsets of repetitions (or TBoMS) at the beginning of the K repetitions.

[0113] When the UE 120 is configured with CG PUSCH repetitions or TBoMS, a UTO-UCI transmitted by the UE 120 may be inconsistent with the startingFromRV0 parameter setting.

[0114] Figure 6 is a diagram illustrating an example 600 associated with uplink skipping. As shown in Figure 6, a network node 110 and a UE 120 may communicate with one another.

[0115] In a first operation 610, the network node 110 may transmit, and the UE 120 may receive, a configuration associated with uplink skipping. The configuration may be associated with uplink skipping in that the configuration may configure the UE 120 to skip an uplink (for example, PUSCH) transmission in one or more transmission occasions in case there is no uplink data to transmit in the transmission occasion.

[0116] In a second operation 620, the network node 110 may transmit, and the UE 120 may receive, a configuration associated with a plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions that are associated with a TB. The CG PUSCH transmission occasions may be associated with the TB in that the CG PUSCH transmission occasions may be configured to carry at least a portion of the TB.

[0117] In some aspects, the configuration may be associated with the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions that are associated with the TB in that the configuration may be associated with CG PUSCH repetition. For example, each CG PUSCH transmission occasion may be configured to carry a CG PUSCH repetition of the TB.

[0118] In some aspects, the configuration may be associated with the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions that are associated with the TB in that the configuration may be associated with TBoMS. For example, each CG PUSCH transmission occasion may be configured to carry at least a portion of the TB. The CG PUSCH transmission occasions may persist over multiple slots (for example, the TBoMS may be configured over the CG PUSCH transmission occasions) .

[0119] In a third operation 630, the UE 120 may transmit, and the network node 110 may receive, UTO-UCI indicating whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by the UE 120. For example, the UE 120 may be configured with UTO-UCI that indicates whether the CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused or not unused. The UTO-UCI may be transmitted or received in accordance with the configuration associated with uplink skipping and the configuration associated with the  plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions. For example, the UTO-UCI may be transmitted or received while uplink skipping is configured with CG PUSCH repetition or TBoMS. The UTO-UCI may indicate that the UE 120 is to skip a CG PUSCH repetition or slot for TBoMS. For example, depending on UE implementation, in a time division duplex (TDD) band, the UE 120 may infer an uplink channel status based at least in part on a downlink channel status and adjust a quantity of CG PUSCH repetitions or slots for TBoMS. Additionally or alternatively, the network may control whether skipping of a subset of repetitions or slots is allowed.

[0120] In some aspects, the network node 110 may transmit, and the UE 120 may receive, DCI that schedules UCI in a CG PUSCH transmission occasion of the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions. For example, the UCI may overlap with one of the CG PUSCH occasions configured for CG PUSCH repetition or TBoMS.

[0121] In some aspects, the UTO-UCI may indicate that the CG PUSCH transmission occasion is unused by the UE 120. For example, the UTO-UCI may indicate that one or more CG PUSCH transmission occasions configured to carry at least a portion of a TB are unused (for example, that the UE 120 will not transmit at least a portion of the TB in the CG PUSCH transmission occasion) . In some aspects (for example, where UTO-UCI indicates that the CG PUSCH transmission occasion is unused) , the UE 120 may transmit the UCI in a PUCCH (for example, where the UCI overlaps with the unused CG PUSCH transmission occasion indicated by the UTO-UCI) .

[0122] In some aspects, the UTO-UCI may indicate that the CG PUSCH transmission occasion is not unused by the UE 120. For example, the UTO-UCI may indicate that one or more CG PUSCH transmission occasions configured to carry at least a portion of a TB are not unused (for example, that the UE 120 may transmit at least a portion of the TB in the CG PUSCH transmission occasion) . In some aspects (for example, where UTO-UCI indicates that the CG PUSCH transmission occasion is not unused) , the UE 120 may transmit the UCI multiplexed with a CG PUSCH communication associated with the CG PUSCH transmission occasion (for example, where the UCI overlaps with the not-unused CG PUSCH transmission occasion indicated by the UTO-UCI) . For example, the CG PUSCH communication may be associated with the CG PUSCH transmission occasion in that the UE 120 may transmit the CG PUSCH communication (with the UCI) in the CG PUSCH transmission occasion.

[0123] Figure 7 is a diagram illustrating an example 700 associated with DCI scheduling of UCI with uplink skipping configured.

[0124] As shown, a UE 120 configured with uplink skipping may be configured with a plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions 705 that are associated with a TB (for example, the UE 120 may be configured for CG PUSCH repetition or TBoMS) . The UE 120 may receive DCI 710 that schedules UCI 715 in a CG PUSCH transmission occasion of the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions 705. Furthermore, the UE 120 may transmit a UTO-UCI 720, in accordance with the configuration associated with uplink skipping and the configuration associated with the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions 705, indicating whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by the UE 120.

[0125] Transmitting or receiving the UTO-UCI 720 may enable the UE 120 to configure uplink skipping and the configuration associated with the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions 705 (for example, CG PUSCH repetition or TBoMS) simultaneously. Therefore, the UE 120 may skip individual PUSCH transmissions in the CG PUSCH transmission occasions 705. As a result, the UE 120 may no longer be required to commit to a decision of whether to transmit a PUSCH communication in a CG PUSCH transmission occasion 705 before the first CG PUSCH transmission occasion 705. For example, the UE 120 may receive the DCI within a time window (for example, within ) of the first PUSCH transmission occasion. Thus, transmitting or receiving the UTO-UCI 720 may improve flexibility in downlink control and data scheduling.

[0126] Moreover, the UTO-UCI 720 may indicate whether the MAC layer of the UE 120 has uplink information data to transmit, thereby enabling the network node 110 to avoid blind detection between the PUCCH (for example, in case there is no CG PUSCH transmission and the PUCCH is used for UCI transmission) and the PUSCH (for example, in case the UCI is multiplexed in the CG PUSCH with information data) .

[0127] Additionally or alternatively, the UTO-UCI 720 may enable the UE 120 to transmit a quantity of repetitions or slots based at least in part on channel conditions (for example, in cases involving Type 1 CG PUSCH transmissions, where the MCS and resource allocation are RRC configured) . In some examples, the UE 120 may transmit fewer repetitions or slots if the channel condition satisfies a channel condition threshold, which may conserve power. In some examples, the UE 120 may transmit more repetitions or slots if the channel condition does not satisfy a channel condition threshold, which may improve robustness.

[0128] Figure 8 is a diagram illustrating an example 800 associated with a configuration associated with transmissions of a TB within a plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions. As shown in Figure 8, a network node 110 and a UE 120 may communicate with one another.

[0129] In a first operation 810, the network node 110 may transmit, and the UE 120 may receive, a configuration associated with transmissions of a TB within a plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions that are associated with the TB. The configuration may be associated with transmissions of the TB within the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions in that the configuration may configure a startingFromRV0 parameter. For example, the configuration may set the startingFromRV0 parameter to off or on.

[0130] The plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions may be associated with the TB in that the CG PUSCH transmission occasion may carry respective CG PUSCH transmissions associated with the TB. In some aspects, the configuration may be associated with the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions that are associated with the TB in that the configuration may be associated with CG PUSCH repetition. For example, each CG PUSCH transmission occasion may be configured to carry a CG PUSCH repetition of the TB. In some aspects, the configuration may be associated with the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions that are associated with the TB in that the configuration may be associated with TBoMS. For example, each CG PUSCH transmission occasion may be configured to carry at least a portion of the TB. The CG PUSCH transmission occasions may persist over multiple slots (for example, the TBoMS may be configured over the CG PUSCH transmission occasions) .

[0131] In a second operation 820, the UE 120 may transmit, and the network node 110 may receive, UTO-UCI indicating whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by the UE 120. The UTO-UCI may be transmitted or received in accordance with the configuration associated with the transmissions of the TB within the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions. For example, the UTO-UCI may indicate whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by the UE 120 based at least in part on whether the startingFromRV0 parameter is set to off or on.

[0132] In some aspects, an initial transmission of the transmissions may be configured to start at an initial CG PUSCH transmission occasion of the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions. For example, the startingFromRV0 parameter may be set to off  (for example, the initial transmission of a TB may be configured to start at a first transmission occasion of K repetitions) . In some examples, the UTO-UCI may contain a plurality of bits indicating whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by the UE 120.

[0133] In some aspects, an initial transmission of the transmissions may be configured to start at an initial or subsequent CG PUSCH transmission occasion, of the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions, that is associated with RV0. For example, the initial transmission of the transmissions may be any repetition of K repetitions that is associated with RV0. For example, the startingFromRV0 parameter may be set to on (for example, the initial transmission of a TB may start at: the first transmission occasion of the K repetitions if the configured RV sequence is {0, 2, 3, 1} ; any of the transmission occasions of the K repetitions that are associated with RV0 if the configured RV sequence is {0, 3, 0, 3} ; or any of the transmission occasions of the K repetitions if the configured RV sequence is {0, 0, 0, 0} , except the last transmission occasion if K ≥ 8) .

[0134] In some examples, the UTO-UCI may contain a plurality of bits indicating whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by the UE 120.

[0135] In some aspects, the second bit may indicate whether the initial or subsequent CG PUSCH transmission occasion is unused by the UE 120. For example, the RV for the initial or subsequent CG PUSCH transmission occasion indicated by bit i may be RV0.  In some examples, the initial or subsequent CG PUSCH transmission may correspond to the initial transmission, and bit i-1 may be one (for example, indicating that the corresponding CG PUSCH transmission occasion is unused) . In some aspects, each bit, of the plurality of bits, subsequent to the second bit has the second value. For example, the remaining bits in the UTO-UCI that indicate CG PUSCH transmission occasions for the TB may have the same value as bit i (for example, zero) .

[0136] Transmitting or receiving the UTO-UCI in accordance with the configuration associated with the transmissions of the TB within the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions may help to ensure that the UTO-UCI indicates information that is consistent with the configuration when CG PUSCH repetition or TBoMS is configured.

[0137] Moreover, the UTO-UCI may help the network node 110 to detect an uplink (for example, CG PUSCH) transmission without performing blind detection based at least in part on the indication in the UTO-UCI. For example, the UTO-UCI may indicate, to the network node 110, whether the UE 120 may transmit a transmission in a CG PUSCH transmission occasion.

[0138] Figure 9 is a flowchart illustrating an example process 900 performed, for example, at a UE or an apparatus of a UE that supports UTO-UCI for CG PUSCH transmission occasions in accordance with uplink skipping and a plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions that are associated with a TB. Example process 900 is an example where the apparatus or the UE (for example, UE 120) performs operations associated with  UTO-UCI for CG PUSCH transmission occasions when uplink skipping and a plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions that are associated with a TB are configured.

[0139] As shown in Figure 9, in some aspects, process 900 may include receiving a configuration associated with uplink skipping (block 910) . For example, the UE (such as by using communication manager 140 or reception component 1302, depicted in Figure 13) may receive a configuration associated with uplink skipping, as described above.

[0154] Process 1000 may include additional aspects, such as any single aspect or any combination of aspects described below or in connection with one or more other processes described elsewhere herein.

[0155] In a first additional aspect, the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions is associated with CG PUSCH repetition.

[0156] In a second additional aspect, alone or in combination with the first aspect, the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions is associated with TBoMS.

[0157] In a third additional aspect, alone or in combination with one or more of the first and second aspects, an initial transmission of the transmissions is configured to start at an initial CG PUSCH transmission occasion of the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions, and the UTO-UCI contains a plurality of bits indicating whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by the UE, each bit of the plurality of bits having a same value.

[0158] In a fourth additional aspect, alone or in combination with one or more of the first through third aspects, an initial transmission of the transmissions is configured to start at an initial or subsequent CG PUSCH transmission occasion, of the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions, that is associated with an RV0, the UTO-UCI contains a plurality of bits indicating whether the plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions are unused by the UE, wherein a first bit of the plurality of bits has a first value, a second bit of the plurality of bits has a second value that is different than the first value, and the first bit and the second bit are consecutive.

[0159] In a fifth additional aspect, alone or in combination with one or more of the first through fourth aspects, the second bit indicates whether the initial or subsequent CG PUSCH transmission occasion is unused by the UE.

[0160] In a sixth additional aspect, alone or in combination with one or more of the first through fifth aspects, each bit, of the plurality of bits, subsequent to the second bit has the second value.

[0161] Although Figure 10 shows example blocks of process 1000, in some aspects, process 1000 may include additional blocks, fewer blocks, different blocks, or differently  arranged blocks than those depicted in Figure 10. Additionally or alternatively, two or more of the blocks of process 1000 may be performed in parallel.

[0162] Figure 11 is a flowchart illustrating an example process 1100 performed, for example, at a network node or an apparatus of a network node that supports UTO-UCI for CG PUSCH transmission occasions in accordance with uplink skipping and a plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions that are associated with a TB. Example process 1100 is an example where the apparatus or the network node (for example, network node 110) performs operations associated with UTO-UCI for CG PUSCH transmission occasions in accordance with uplink skipping and a plurality of CG PUSCH transmission occasions that are associated with a TB.

[0244] The foregoing disclosure provides illustration and description but is not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the aspects to the precise forms disclosed. Modifications and variations may be made in light of the above disclosure or may be acquired from practice of the aspects.

[0245] As used herein, the term “component” is intended to be broadly construed as hardware or a combination of hardware and at least one of software or firmware. “Software” shall be construed broadly to mean instructions, instruction sets, code, code segments, program code, programs, subprograms, software modules, applications, software applications, software packages, routines, subroutines, objects, executables, threads of execution, procedures, or functions, among other examples, whether referred to  as software, firmware, middleware, microcode, hardware description language, or otherwise. As used herein, a “processor” is implemented in hardware or a combination of hardware and software. It will be apparent that systems or methods described herein may be implemented in different forms of hardware or a combination of hardware and software. The actual specialized control hardware or software code used to implement these systems or methods is not limiting of the aspects. Thus, the operation and behavior of the systems or methods are described herein without reference to specific software code, because those skilled in the art will understand that software and hardware can be designed to implement the systems or methods based, at least in part, on the description herein. A component being configured to perform a function means that the component has a capability to perform the function, and does not require the function to be actually performed by the component, unless noted otherwise.

[0246] As used herein, “satisfying a threshold” may, depending on the context, refer to a value being greater than the threshold, greater than or equal to the threshold, less than the threshold, less than or equal to the threshold, equal to the threshold, or not equal to the threshold, among other examples.

[0247] As used herein, the term “determine” or “determining” encompasses a wide variety of actions and, therefore, “determining” can include calculating, computing, processing, deriving, investigating, looking up (such as via looking up in a table, a database or another data structure) , identifying, inferring, ascertaining, measuring, and the like. Also, “determining” can include receiving (such as receiving information or receiving an indication) , accessing (such as accessing data stored in memory) , transmitting (such as transmitting information) and the like. Also, “determining” can include resolving, selecting, obtaining, choosing, establishing and other such similar actions. The term “identify” or “identifying” also encompasses a wide variety of actions and, therefore, “identifying” can include calculating, computing, processing, deriving, investigating, looking up (such as via looking up in a table, a database or another data structure) , inferring, ascertaining, measuring, and the like. Also, “identifying” can include receiving (such as receiving information or receiving an indication) , accessing (such as accessing data stored in memory) , transmitting (such as transmitting information) and the like. Also, “identifying” can include resolving, selecting, obtaining, choosing, establishing and other such similar actions.

[0248] As used herein, a phrase referring to “at least one of” a list of items refers to any combination of those items, including single members. As an example, “at least one of:  a, b, or c” is intended to cover a, b, c, a + b, a + c, b + c, and a + b + c, as well as any combination with multiples of the same element (for example, a + a, a + a + a, a + a + b, a + a + c, a + b + b, a + c + c, b + b, b + b + b, b + b + c, c + c, and c + c + c, or any other ordering of a, b, and c) .

[0249] No element, act, or instruction used herein should be construed as critical or essential unless explicitly described as such. Also, as used herein, the articles “a” and “an” are intended to include one or more items and may be used interchangeably with “one or more. ” Further, as used herein, the article “the” is intended to include one or more items referenced in connection with the article “the” and may be used interchangeably with “the one or more. ” Furthermore, as used herein, the terms “set” and “group” are intended to include one or more items and may be used interchangeably with “one or more. ” Where only one item is intended, the phrase “only one” or similar language is used. Also, as used herein, the terms “has, ” “have, ” “having, ” and similar terms are intended to be open-ended terms that do not limit an element that they modify (for example, an element “having” A may also have B) . Further, as used herein, “based on”is intended to be interpreted in the inclusive sense, unless otherwise explicitly indicated. For example, “based on” may be used interchangeably with “based at least in part on, ” “associated with” , or “in accordance with” unless otherwise explicitly indicated. Specifically, unless a phrase refers to “based on only ‘a, ’ ” or the equivalent in context, whatever it is that is “based on ‘a, ’ ” or “based at least in part on ‘a, ’ ” may be based on “a” alone or based on a combination of “a” and one or more other factors, conditions or information. Also, as used herein, the term “or” is intended to be inclusive when used in a series and may be used interchangeably with “and / or, ” unless explicitly stated otherwise (for example, if used in combination with “either” or “only one of” ) . It should be understood that “one or more” is equivalent to “at least one. ”
