AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing wireless communication technologies face challenges in supporting network energy saving (NES) schemes for CSI reporting with CSI-RS ports exceeding 32, particularly in spatial and power domains, as current standards lack sufficient mechanisms for managing large antenna arrays with more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

Method used

The proposed solution involves aggregating multiple CSI-RS resources with fewer ports to generate a CSI-RS resource with a larger number of ports (e.g., 48, 64, or 128) and configuring CSI report sub-configurations to support Type 2 NES schemes in spatial domain and NES schemes in power domain, including muting patterns for antenna elements and power offsets.

Benefits of technology

This approach enables efficient network energy saving by optimizing CSI reporting for large antenna arrays, enhancing cell coverage and throughput, and supporting advanced communication technologies like 5G and beyond.

[0054] Figure 1 illustrates an example of a wireless communications system 100 in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The wireless communications system 100 may include one or more network equipments (NEs) (e.g., BSs) 102, one or more UEs 104, and a core network (CN) 106. The wireless communications system 100 may support various radio access technologies. In some implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be a 4G network, such as an LTE network or an LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network. In some other implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be an NR network, such as a 5G network, a 5G-Advanced (5G-A) network, or a 5G ultrawideband (5G-UWB) network. In other implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be a combination of a 4G network and a 5G network, or other suitable radio access technology including Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 (Wi-Fi) , IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX) , IEEE 802.20. The wireless communications system 100 may support radio access technologies  beyond 5G, for example, 6G. Additionally, the wireless communications system 100 may support technologies, such as time division multiple access (TDMA) , frequency division multiple access (FDMA) , or code division multiple access (CDMA) , etc.

[0055] The one or more NEs 102 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region to form the wireless communications system 100. One or more of the NEs 102 described herein may be or include or may be referred to as a network node, a base station, a network element, a network function, a network entity, a radio access network (RAN) , a NodeB, an eNodeB (eNB) , a next-generation NodeB (gNB) , or other suitable terminology. An NE 102 and a UE 104 may communicate via a communication link, which may be a wireless or wired connection. For example, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may perform wireless communication (e.g., receive signaling, transmit signaling) over a Uu interface.

[0056] An NE 102 may provide a geographic coverage area for which the NE 102 may support services for one or more UEs 104 within the geographic coverage area. For example, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may support wireless communication of signals related to services (e.g., voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc. ) according to one or multiple radio access technologies. In some implementations, an NE 102 may be moveable, for example, a satellite associated with a non-terrestrial network (NTN) . In some implementations, different geographic coverage areas associated with the same or different radio access technologies may overlap, but the different geographic coverage areas may be associated with different NEs 102.

[0057] The one or more UEs 104 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region of the wireless communications system 100. A UE 104 may include or may be referred to as a remote unit, a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a subscriber device, a transmitter device, a receiver device, or some other suitable terminology. In some implementations, the UE 104 may be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, among other examples. Additionally, or alternatively, the UE 104 may be referred to as an Internet-of-Things (IoT) device, an Internet-of-Everything (IoE) device, or machine-type communication (MTC) device, among other examples.

[0058] A UE 104 may be able to support wireless communication directly with other UEs 104 over a communication link. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication  directly with another UE 104 over a device-to-device (D2D) communication link. In some implementations, such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) deployments, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) deployments, or cellular-V2X deployments, the communication link may be referred to as a sidelink. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a PC5 interface.

[0059] An NE 102 may support communications with the CN 106, or with another NE 102, or both. For example, an NE 102 may interface with other NE 102 or the CN 106 through one or more backhaul links (e.g., S1, N2, N2, or network interface) . In some implementations, the NEs 102 may communicate with each other directly. In some other implementations, the NEs 102 may communicate with each other indirectly (e.g., via the CN 106) . In some implementations, one or more NEs 102 may include subcomponents, such as an access network entity, which may be an example of an access node controller (ANC) . An ANC may communicate with the one or more UEs 104 through one or more other access network transmission entities, which may be referred to as radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmission-reception points (TRPs) .

[0060] The CN 106 may support user authentication, access authorization, tracking, connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The CN 106 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) , or a 5G core (5GC) , which may include a control plane entity that manages access and mobility (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME) , an access and mobility management function (AMF) ) and a user plane entity that routes packets or interconnects to external networks (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW) , a Packet Data Network (PDN) gateway (P-GW) , or a user plane function (UPF) ) . In some implementations, the control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management (e.g., data bearers, signal bearers, etc. ) for the one or more UEs 104 served by the one or more NEs 102 associated with the CN 106.

[0061] The CN 106 may communicate with a packet data network over one or more backhaul links (e.g., via an S1, N2, N2, or another network interface) . The packet data network may include an application server. In some implementations, one or more UEs 104 may communicate with the application server. A UE 104 may establish a session (e.g., a protocol data unit (PDU) session, or the like) with the CN 106 via an NE 102. The CN 106 may route  traffic (e.g., control information, data, and the like) between the UE 104 and the application server using the established session (e.g., the established PDU session) . The PDU session may be an example of a logical connection between the UE 104 and the CN 106 (e.g., one or more network functions of the CN 106) .

[0062] In the wireless communications system 100, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may use resources of the wireless communications system 100 (e.g., time resources (e.g., symbols, slots, subframes, frames, or the like) or frequency resources (e.g., subcarriers, carriers) ) to perform various operations (e.g., wireless communications) . In some implementations, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support different resource structures. For example, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support different frame structures. In some implementations, such as in 4G, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support a single frame structure. In some other implementations, such as in 5G and among other suitable radio access technologies, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures (e.g., multiple frame structures) . The NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures based on one or more numerologies.

[0063] One or more numerologies may be supported in the wireless communications system 100, and a numerology may include a subcarrier spacing and a cyclic prefix. A first numerology (e.g., μ=0) may be associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. In some implementations, the first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with the first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may utilize one slot per subframe. A second numerology (e.g., μ=1) may be associated with a second subcarrier spacing (e.g., 30 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A third numerology (e.g., μ=2) may be associated with a third subcarrier spacing (e.g., 60 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix or an extended cyclic prefix. A fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) may be associated with a fourth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 120 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A fifth numerology (e.g., μ=4) may be associated with a fifth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 240 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix.

[0064] A time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to frames (also referred to as radio frames) . Each frame may have a duration, for example, a 10 millisecond (ms) duration. In some implementations, each frame may include multiple subframes. For example, each frame may include 10 subframes, and each subframe may have a duration, for example, a 1 ms duration. In some implementations, each frame may  have the same duration. In some implementations, each subframe of a frame may have the same duration.

[0065] Additionally or alternatively, a time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to slots. For example, a subframe may include a number (e.g., quantity) of slots. The number of slots in each subframe may also depend on the one or more numerologies supported in the wireless communications system 100. For instance, the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth numerologies (e.g., μ=0, μ=1, μ=2, μ=3, μ=4) associated with respective subcarrier spacings of 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, 120 kHz, and 240 kHz may utilize a single slot per subframe, two slots per subframe, four slots per subframe, eight slots per subframe, and 16 slots per subframe, respectively. Each slot may include a number (e.g., quantity) of symbols (e.g., orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols) . In some implementations, the number (e.g., quantity) of slots for a subframe may depend on a numerology. For a normal cyclic prefix, a slot may include 14 symbols. For an extended cyclic prefix (e.g., applicable for 60 kHz subcarrier spacing) , a slot may include 12 symbols. The relationship between the number of symbols per slot, the number of slots per subframe, and the number of slots per frame for a normal cyclic prefix and an extended cyclic prefix may depend on a numerology. It should be understood that reference to a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may be used interchangeably between subframes and slots.

[0066] In the wireless communications system 100, an electromagnetic (EM) spectrum may be split, based on frequency or wavelength, into various classes, frequency bands, frequency channels, etc. By way of example, the wireless communications system 100 may support one or multiple operating frequency bands, such as frequency range designations FR1 (410 MHz –7.125 GHz) , FR2 (24.25 GHz –52.6 GHz) , FR3 (7.125 GHz –24.25 GHz) , FR4 (52.6 GHz –114.25 GHz) , FR4a or FR4-1 (52.6 GHz –71 GHz) , and FR5 (114.25 GHz –300 GHz) . In some implementations, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may perform wireless communications over one or more of the operating frequency bands. In some implementations, FR1 may be used by the NEs 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for cellular communications traffic (e.g., control information, data) . In some implementations, FR2 may be used by the NEs  102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for short-range, high data rate capabilities.

[0067] FR1 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least three numerologies) . For example, FR1 may be associated with a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) , which includes 15 kHz subcarrier spacing; a second numerology (e.g., μ=1) , which includes 30 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing. FR2 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least 2 numerologies) . For example, FR2 may be associated with a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) , which includes 120 kHz subcarrier spacing.

[0068] Type I codebook may be used for single-user multiple-input multiple-output (SU-MIMO) scenarios. Type I codebook may include Type I single-panel (SP) codebook and Type I multi-panel (MP) codebook. A Type I codebook may include precoding matrix indicator (PMI) values and codewords (i.e., precoding matrices) corresponding to the PMI values. In an existing 5G system, e.g., 3GPP release 18 (Rel. 18) , Type Ⅰ codebook may be designed based on CSI-RS with a maximum port number of 32, e.g., based on CSI-RS with 8, 12, 16, 24, or 32 CS-RS ports. Herein, the terms "port, " "CSI-RS port, " "antenna port" and "CSI-RS antenna port" may be used interchangeably.

[0069] Accordingly, existing NES schemes in spatial domain and power domain are supported for CSI reporting with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports. The NES schemes in spatial domain may include Type 1 NES scheme in spatial domain (also referred to as Type 1 spatial NES scheme) and Type 2 NES scheme in spatial domain (also referred to as Type 2 spatial NES scheme) . For Type 1 NES scheme in spatial domain, all antenna elements (AEs) associated with a subset of antenna ports may be disabled or enabled. For Type 2 NES scheme in spatial domain, a part of AEs or a subset of AEs associated with each antenna port may be disabled or enabled.

[0070] To support NES schemes, a CSI report configuration (e.g., defined by a parameter CSI-ReportConfig as specified in 3GPP standard documents) may contain one or more CSI report sub-configurations (e.g., defined by a parameter csi-ReportSubConfigList as specified in  3GPP standard documents) . Each CSI report sub-configuration (e.g., defined by a parameter CSI-ReportSubConfig as specified in 3GPP standard documents) may be identified by an identifier (ID) (e.g., defined by a parameter csi-ReportSubConfigID as specified in 3GPP standard documents) , and correspond to a list of one or more CSI-RS resources (e.g., defined by a parameter nzp-CSI-RS-ResourceList as specified in 3GPP standard documents) or correspond to a CSI-RS antenna port subset (e.g., defined by a parameter portSubsetIndicator as specified in 3GPP standard documents) , and / or corresponds to a power offset (e.g., defined by a parameter powerOffset as specified in 3GPP standard documents) for physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) relative to CSI-RS (s) additional to a power control offset (e.g., defined by a parameter powercontroloffset as specified in 3GPP standard documents) of the CSI-RS resource (s) .

[0071] For Type 1 NES in spatial domain, the UE may be configured with at least one CSI-RS antenna port subset in a CSI report sub-configuration. For Type 2 NES in spatial domain, the UE may be configured with a list of CSI-RS resources (one or more CSI-RS resources) . However, there are no simultaneous configurations for the CSI-RS antenna port subset and the list of CSI-RS resources in the same CSI report sub-configuration. For NES in power domain, the UE may be configured with the power offset in a CSI report sub-configuration.

[0072] As an example, the information element (IE) CSI-ReportSubConfig specified in 3GPP TS 38.331 is shown as follows, which is used to configure parameters in one CSI report sub-configuration within a CSI report configuration.

[0073] CSI-ReportSubConfig information element

[0074] In the IE CSI-ReportSubConfig, the parameter portSubsetIndicator may be a bitmap associated with a number of CSI-RS ports, wherein each bit in the bitmap may indicate whether the corresponding CSI-RS port is used for CSI-RS transmission. For example, the parameter portSubsetIndicator p32 may be a bitmap including 32 bits corresponding to CSI-RS with 32 CSI-RS ports, wherein each bit in p32 may indicate whether a corresponding CSI-RS port of the 32 CSI-RS ports is used for CSI-RS transmission.

[0075] The aforementioned CSI report sub-configuration may be used to support NES schemes in spatial domain and power domain for CSI reporting with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0076] However, with the development of communication technology, enhancements on downlink multiple input multiple output (MIMO) that facilitate the use of large antenna array, for both FR1 and FR2, are proposed to fulfil the demand for evolution of NR deployments, especially for 7GHz frequency band (s) . For a large antenna array, a larger number of CSI-RS ports (e.g., more than 32 ports) may be used to further increase beamforming gain, thereby improving the cell coverage and cell average / edge throughput, especially for implementation with full digital beamforming and hybrid beamforming. Accordingly, in 3GPP release 19 (Rel. 19) , an enhanced Type I codebook may be designed based on CSI-RS with more than 32 CSI-RS ports (e.g., 48, 64 or 128 CSI-RS ports) .

[0077] For CSI-RS with more than 32 ports, it is also useful to support NES schemes in spatial domain and power domain.

[0078] In some embodiments of the present application, to support Type 1 NES in spatial domain for a Type-I SP codebook with 48, 64, and 128 CSI-RS ports, the parameter portsubsetIndicator in Rel-18 Type 1 NES in spatial domain may be extended by adding p48, p64, and p128 along with their appropriate lengths, wherein p48, p64, and p128 may be three bitmaps corresponding to 48, 64, and 128 CSI-RS ports, respectively. For example, p64 may be a bitmap including 64 bits corresponding to CSI-RS with 64 CSI-RS ports, wherein each bit in p64 may indicate whether a corresponding CSI-RS port of the 64 CSI-RS ports is used for CSI-RS transmission.

[0079] However, there is no much discussion on Type 2 NES in spatial domain for more than 32 ports and NES in power domain for more than 32 ports.

[0080] Embodiments of the present disclosure provide solutions for supporting NES. For example, some embodiments of the present disclosure provide solutions regarding how to support Type 2 NES schemes in spatial domain with more than 32 CSI-RS ports. Some embodiments of the present disclosure provide solutions regarding how to support NES schemes in power domain for more than 32 CSI-RS ports. More details will be described in the following text in combination with the appended drawings.

[0081] According to some embodiments of the present application, CSI-RS may be transmitted on an aggregated CSI-RS resource with a number of CSI-RS ports, e.g., more than 32 CSI-RS ports. For example, the number of the ports of the aggregated CSI-RS resource may be 48, 64, or 128, which may include multiple CSI-RS resources with no more than 32 ports.

[0082] According to some embodiments of the present application, for a CSI-RS resource with the number of CSI-RS ports, a number of CSI-RS resources with fewer ports may be configured for a UE to be aggregated to generate the CSI-RS resource with the number of CSI-RS ports. Accordingly, the CSI-RS resource with the number of CSI-RS ports may be referred to as an aggregated CSI-RS resource or a generated CSI-RS resource, and each of the CSI-RS resources with fewer ports may be referred to as a component CSI-RS resource.

[0083] In some examples, each component CS-RS resource may have no more than 32 CSI-RS ports. In some other examples, at least one of the component CSI-RS resources may have more than 32 CSI-RS ports. In some examples, different component CSI-RS resources may  have the same number of CSI-RS ports. In some other examples, different component CSI-RS resources may have different numbers of CSI-RS ports.

[0084] In some embodiments of the present application, the component CSI-RS resources of an aggregated CSI-RS resource may be included in (or within, or located in) 1 slot or multiple (e.g., 2) consecutive slots.

[0085] According to some embodiments of the present application, to support Type 2 NES schemes in spatial domain and NES schemes in power domain, a UE may receive, from a NE (e.g., a BS) , a CSI report configuration (e.g., denoted by a parameter CSI-ReportConfig) including CSI report sub-configurations for CSI sub-reports. Each CSI report sub-configuration (e.g., defined by a parameter CSI-ReportSubConfig) may indicate at least one of: a CSI-RS resource list (e.g., defined by a parameter csi-ReportSubConfigList) or a power domain parameter. A CSI-RS resource list may be used for Type 2 NES in spatial domain. The power domain parameter may be used for NES in power domain. Then, the UE may determine a CSI report including the CSI sub-reports based on the received CSI report configuration, and transmit the determined CSI report to the NE.

[0086] The following Embodiment I, Embodiment II, and Embodiment III provide solutions for supporting Type 2 NES in spatial domain and NES in power domain for a number of CSI-RS ports (e.g., more than 32 CSI-RS ports) , wherein Embodiment I provides solutions for supporting Type 2 NES in spatial domain, Embodiment II provides solutions for supporting enhanced Type 2 NES in spatial domain, and Embodiment III provide solutions for supporting NES in power domain. Embodiment I and Embodiment III may be implemented separately or in combination. Embodiment II and Embodiment III may be implemented separately or in combination.

[0087] Embodiment I

[0088] As stated above, an aggregated (e.g., a generated) CSI-RS resource may be with a number of CSI-RS ports, e.g., more than 32 CSI-RS ports. Each CSI-RS port may include one or more transceiver units (TXRUs) , each TXRU may include one or more antenna elements (AEs) , the one or more AEs may be referred to as an AE subset.

[0089] For Type 1 NES scheme in spatial domain, all TXRUs or all antenna elements (AEs) associated with a subset of antenna ports may be disabled or enabled. For Type 2 NES scheme in spatial domain, a part of TXRUs or a part of AEs associated with each antenna port may be disabled or enabled.

[0090] Figure 2 illustrates an exemplary Type 1 NES scheme in spatial domain and Type 2 NES scheme in spatial domain in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure.

[0091] Referring to 2a in Figure 2, four CSI-RS resources (e.g., CSI-RS resources 1 to 4) , each with 16 CSI-RS ports may be aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with 64 CSI-RS ports in various schemes. Wherein, CSI-RS resource 1 may be associated with CSI-RS ports #1-8 and #33-40, CSI-RS resource 2 may be associated with CSI-RS ports #9-16 and #41-48, CSI-RS resource 3 may be associated with CSI-RS ports #17-24 and #49-56, and CSI-RS resource 4 may be associated with CSI-RS ports #25-32 and #57-64. Each CSI-RS port (e.g., denoted as port X, wherein X is 0, 1, …, or 63) may have 2 TXRUs (e.g., TXRU 1 and TXRU 2) or two AE subsets (e.g., AE subset 1 and AE subset 1) .

[0092] For Type 1 NES scheme in spatial domain, e.g. as shown in 2b, only 32 CSI-RS ports (e.g., CSI-RS ports #1-8, #9-16, #33-40, and #41-48) are used for CSI-RS transmission, these CSI-RS ports for CSI-RS transmission may be indicated by the aforementioned parameter portSubsetIndicator. All the TXRUs or AEs associated with each CSI-RS port of the 32 CSI-RS ports are used for CSI-RS transmission.

[0093] For Type 2 NES scheme in spatial domain, e.g., as shown in 2c, TXRU 2 or AE subset 2 associated with each CSI-RS port of the 64 CSI-RS ports is used for CSI-RS transmission. The total number of antenna ports is always not changed and keeps as 64.

[0094] In Embodiment I, to support Type 2 NES scheme in spatial domain for CSI reporting with a number of CSI-RS ports (e.g., more than 32 CSI-RS ports) , a UE may receive, from a NE (e.g., a BS) , a CSI report configuration (e.g., denoted by a parameter CSI-ReportConfig) including CSI report sub-configurations for CSI sub-reports. Each CSI report sub-configuration (e.g., defined by a parameter CSI-ReportSubConfig) may indicate a CSI-RS resource list (e.g., a non-zero power (NZP) CSI-RS resource list, defined by a parameter nzp-CSI-RS- ResourceList) . The following two schemes, i.e., scheme 1-1 and scheme 1-2, may provide the solutions regarding the CSI-RS resource list.

[0095] Scheme 1-1

[0096] In scheme 1-1, the CSI-RS resource list may indicate at least one CSI-RS resource subset, e.g., at least one NZP CSI-RS resource subset, wherein each subset may include a plurality of CSI-RS resources (e.g., NZP CSI-RS resources) , which are aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with a number of CSI-RS ports (e.g., more than 32 CSI-RS ports) . For example, the number may be 48, 64, or 128. For example, the plurality of CSI-RS resources may be K CSI-RS resources, wherein K is a positive integer larger than 1. The generated CSI-RS resource may also be referred to as an aggregated CSI-RS resource, and each of the K CSI-RS resources may be referred to as a component CSI-RS resource.

[0097] In some embodiments of scheme 1-1, each CSI-RS resource of the K CSI-RS resources may be associated with a muting pattern. For example, a muting pattern may indicate which TXRUs or which AEs of each CSI-RS port are used for CSI-RS transmission. Accordingly, a muting pattern associated with a CSI-RS resource subset may be implicitly defined from the K CSI-RS resources including all the AEs. Different CSI-RS resource subsets within the CSI-RS resource list may be associated with the same muting pattern. The CSI report sub-configuration including the CSI-RS resource list may be associated with a joint muting pattern for all AEs. The joint muting pattern may be based on the same muting pattern associated with each CSI-RS resource subset within the CSI-RS resource list. In some other examples, different CSI-RS resource subsets within the CSI-RS resource list may be associated with different muting patterns. The joint muting pattern may be based on the muting patterns associated with all the CSI-RS resource subsets within the CSI-RS resource list

[0098] In some embodiments of scheme 1-1, the CSI report configuration may include a codebook configuration configured for a generated CSI-RS resource (e.g., an aggregated CSI-RS resource) with the number of CSI-RS ports. For example, a CodebookConfig is configured commonly in CSI-ReportConfig for the aggregated CSI-RS resource in each subset with the first number of CSI-RS ports.

[0099] In some embodiments of scheme 1-1, each CSI-RS resource subset may be associated with a CRI. For example, the CRI may be an index of the CSI-RS resource subset in the CSI-RS resource list. A CSI sub-report associated with the CSI-RS resource list may include at least one CRI associated with the at least one CSI-RS resource subset, and a CRI with an index k corresponds to an (k+1) th entry of associated CSI-RS resource subset in the CSI-RS resource list, wherein k ≥ 0.

[0100] For example, if a CSI report sub-configuration is configured with a NZP CSI-RS resource list with more than one NZP CSI-RS resource subsets, the UE shall derive the CSI parameters other than CRI conditioned on the reported CRI, where the CRI k (k ≥ 0) for the sub-configuration corresponds to the configured (k+1) th entry of associated CSI-RS resource subset in the NZP CSI-RS resource list.

[0101] Scheme 1-2

[0102] In scheme 1-2, the CSI-RS resource list may indicate multiple CSI-RS resources (e.g., NZP CSI-RS resources) which are aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with a number of CSI-RS ports (e.g., more than 32 CSI-RS ports) . For example, the number may be 48, 64, or 128. For example, the multiple CSI-RS resources may be K' CSI-RS resources, wherein K' is a positive integer larger than 1. The generated CSI-RS resource may also be referred to as an aggregated CSI-RS resource, and each of the K' CSI-RS resources may be referred to as a component CSI-RS resource.

[0103] In some embodiments of scheme 1-2, a same muting pattern may be associated the same muting pattern may be associated with or implicitly defined for each CSI-RS port of the number of CSI-RS ports. Accordingly, the CSI report sub-configuration including the CSI-RS resource list may be associated with one muting pattern, e.g., the muting pattern for each CSI-RS resource or for each CSI-RS port.

[0104] In some embodiments of scheme 1-2, the CSI report configuration may include a codebook configuration configured for a generated CSI-RS resource (e.g., an aggregated CSI-RS resource) with the number of CSI-RS ports. For example, a CodebookConfig is configured in CSI-ReportConfig for the aggregated CSI-RS resource in the CSI-RS resource list, but not for each CSI-RS resource of the K' CSI-RS resources in the CSI-RS resource list.

[0105] In some embodiments of scheme 1-2, CRI reporting is not supported because all the CSI-RS resource in the CSI-RS resource list are aggregated to generate one CSI-RS resource with the number of CSI-RS ports. That is, no CRI is included in a CSI sub-report associated with the CSI-RS resource list.

[0106] In some examples of Embodiment I, since different muting patterns may be used for CSI-RS resources from different CSI-RS resource lists associated with a CSI report sub-configuration, it requires that there is no symbol intersection between CSI-RS resources associated with different CSI-RS resource lists, e.g., for both scheme 1-1 and scheme 1-2.

[0107] In some cases of Embodiment I, for Type 2 NES scheme in spatial domain for more than 32 CSI-RS ports, the effect of energy saving is not so good on account of the more than 32 always-on CSI-RS ports. Moreover, a bit number of a CSI report and the CSI-RS overhead in the case of more than 32 CSI-RS ports are also much larger. In addition, the computation complexity for the CSI report based on multiple CSI report sub-configurations is also a big burden for UE.

[0108] Given this, it is possible that a Type 2 NES scheme in spatial domain for more than 32 CSI-RS ports is not supported. Accordingly, UE is not expected to be configured with a CSI report sub-configuration including a CSI-RS resource list when a generated CSI-RS resource (e.g., an aggregated CSI-RS resource) for channel measurement is more than 32 CSI-RS ports. In other words, a CSI report sub-configuration does not include a CSI-RS resource list when a generated CSI-RS resource for channel measurement is more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0109] Alternatively, it depends on the UE' capability to support Type 2 NES scheme in spatial domain for more than 32 CSI-RS ports and UE needs to report this capability. The UE may transmit capability information indicating whether the UE supports a Type 2 NES scheme in spatial domain for more than 32 CSI-RS ports. In other words, UE may report its capability regarding whether the UE supports being configured with a CSI-RS resource list when a generated CSI-RS resource for channel measurement is more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0110] In the case that the capability information indicating that the UE supports the Type 2 NES scheme in spatial domain for more than 32 CSI-RS ports, a CSI report sub-configuration  may include a CSI-RS resource list when a generated CSI-RS resource for channel measurement is more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0111] Embodiment II

[0112] For the Type 2 NES scheme in spatial domain in Embodiment I, the port number for CSI-RS transmission is not reduced. When the port number is large, e.g., more than 32, the schemes in Embodiment 1 may limit the effect of power saving and increase the bit number of CSI report (e.g., based on newly refined codebook for more than 32 ports) , CSI-RS overhead (e.g., more resource elements (REs) are used for CSI-RS with more than 32 ports) and the computation complexity for CSI report with multiple CSI report sub-configurations more than 32 ports. Therefore, it is meaningful to design enhanced Type 2 NES schemes in spatial domain, especially for CSI reporting with more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0113] The schemes in Embodiment II may support enhanced Type 2 NES schemes in spatial domain, wherein not only a part of AEs from each CSI-RS port but also a part of CSI-RS ports are muted. The solutions in Embodiment II may be based on the CSI-RS resource list in Embodiment I and a further indication indicating the selected CSI-RS ports. In this way, only a part of CSI-RS ports (i.e., the selected CSI-RS ports) and a part of AEs from the selected CSI-RS ports are used for data transmission and CSI measurement. Thus, the effect of energy saving is improved on account of a smaller number of AEs and antenna ports for transmission. The bit number of a CSI report, CSI-RS overhead and computation complexity are also reduced on account of smaller number of AEs and antenna ports.

[0114] The following two schemes, e.g., scheme 2-1 and scheme 2-2 provide the solutions to support enhanced Type 2 NES schemes in spatial domain.

[0115] Scheme 2-1

[0116] In scheme 2-1, a part of AEs from the selected CSI-RS ports are muted, where the CSI-RS ports are selected based on component CSI-RS resources for aggregating the CSI-RS resource. In other words, all the CSI-RS ports from a component CSI-RS resources are simultaneously selected or not for CSI transmission.

[0117] In scheme 2-1, each CSI report sub-configuration may also indicate a CSI-RS resource list for indicating a TXRU level or AE level muting. The solutions regarding CSI-RS resource list in scheme 1-1 and scheme 1-2 may also applicable here.

[0118] In scheme 2-1, in addition to the CSI-RS resource list, each CSI report sub-configuration may also indicate at least one CSI-RS resource selected from the multiple CSI-RS resources (e.g., when the CSI-RS resource list includes the multiple CSI-RS resources as stated in scheme 1-2) or from the plurality of CSI-RS resources (e.g., when the CSI-RS resource list includes at least one CSI-RS resource subset and each CSI-RS resource subset includes the plurality of CSI-RS resources as stated in scheme 1-1) for CSI-RS transmission.

[0119] In some examples, each CSI report sub-configuration may include an indication indicating at least one CSI-RS resource selected from the multiple CSI-RS resources or from the plurality of CSI-RS resources. For example, the indication may be a bitmap, wherein the number of the bits included in the bitmap may be equal to the number of the multiple CSI-RS resources (e.g., the aforementioned K') or the number of the plurality of CSI-RS resources (e.g., the aforementioned K) , wherein each bit may indicate whether a corresponding CSI-RS resource is selected for CSI-RS transmission. Then, all CSI-RS ports of a selected CSI-RS resource may be used for CSI-RS transmission. All CSI-RS ports of an unselected CSI-RS resource may be not used for CSI-RS transmission.

[0120] In scheme 2-1, a CSI report sub-configuration may be associated with one muting pattern, which is implicitly determined by the CSI-RS resource list included in the CSI report sub-configuration and the aforementioned indication included in the CSI report sub-configuration.

[0121] In scheme 2-1, each CSI report sub-configuration may include a codebook sub-configuration (e.g., defined by a parameter codebookSubConfig) configured based on all CSI-RS ports of the selected at least one CSI-RS resource. For example, the codebook sub-configuration includes one or more of a codebook subset restriction (e.g., defined by a parameter codebookSubsetRestriction) or an RI restriction (e.g., defined by a parameter ri-Restriction) .

[0122] Figure 3 illustrates examples of an enhanced Type 2 NES scheme 2-1 and an enhanced Type 2 NES scheme 2-2 in spatial domain in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure.

[0123] Referring to 3a in Figure 3, four CSI-RS resources (e.g., CSI-RS resources 1 to 4) , each with 16 CSI-RS ports may be aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with 64 CSI-RS ports. CSI-RS resource 1 may be associated with CSI-RS ports #1-8 and #33-40, CSI-RS resource 2 may be associated with CSI-RS ports #9-16 and #41-48, CSI-RS resource 3 may be associated with CSI-RS ports #17-24 and #49-56, and CSI-RS resource 4 may be associated with CSI-RS ports #25-32 and #57-64. Each CSI-RS port (e.g., denoted as port X, wherein X is 0, 1, …, or 63) may have 2 TXRUs (e.g., TXRU 1 and TXRU 2) or two AE subsets (e.g., AE subset 1 and AE subset 1) .

[0124] Referring to 3b in Figure 3, it illustrates the enhanced Type 2 NES scheme 2-1, which may be based on the Type 2 NES schemes in Embodiment I and a bitmap associated with the four CSI-RS resources.

[0125] For example, the Type 2 NES schemes in Embodiment I may indicate that TXRU 1 or AE subset 1 associated with each CSI-RS port is used for CSI-RS transmission. The bitmap may be "1000, " which indicates that CSI-RS resource 1 is selected from the four CSI-RS resources for CSI-RS transmission.

[0126] Then, in the enhanced Type 2 NES scheme 2-1, TXRU 1 or AE subset 1 associated with each CSI-RS port of all ports (i.e., ports #1-8 and #33-40) from CSI-RS resource 1 is used for CSI-RS transmission.

[0127] Scheme 2-2

[0128] In scheme 2-2, a part of AEs from the selected CSI-RS ports are muted, wherein the selected CSI-RS ports may be any CSI-RS ports from the number of CSI-RS ports of the aggregated CSI-RS resource, e.g., without the restriction that the CSI-RS ports are selected based on component CSI-RS sources.

[0129] In scheme 2-2, each CSI report sub-configuration may also indicate a CSI-RS resource list for indicating a TXRU level or AE level muting. The solutions regarding CSI-RS resource list in scheme 1-1 and scheme 1-2 may also applicable here.

[0130] In some examples of scheme 2-2, in addition to the CSI-RS resource list, each CSI report sub-configuration may also indicate at least one CSI-RS port selected from the number of CSI-RS ports of a generated CSI-RS resource. For example, each CSI report sub-configuration may include an indication indicating at least one CSI-RS port selected from the number of CSI-RS ports of a generated CSI-RS resource (e.g., an aggregated CSI-RS resource) . That is, the indication may be configured per aggregated CSI-RS resource.

[0131] As an example, the indication may be a bitmap, wherein the number of the bits included in the bitmap may be equal to the number of CSI-RS ports of a generated CSI-RS resource, wherein each bit may indicate whether a corresponding CSI-RS port is selected for CSI-RS transmission. For example, the indication may be the parameter portsubsetIndicator extended by adding p48, p64, and p128.

[0132] In some other examples of scheme 2-2, in addition to the CSI-RS resource list, each CSI report sub-configuration may also indicate at least one CSI-RS port selected from CSI-RS ports of each CSI-RS resource of the multiple CSI-RS resources (e.g., when the CSI-RS resource list includes the multiple CSI-RS resources as stated in scheme 1-2) or the plurality of CSI-RS resources (e.g., when the CSI-RS resource list includes at least one CSI-RS resource subset and each CSI-RS resource subset includes the plurality of CSI-RS resources as stated in scheme 1-1) for CSI-RS transmission. For example, each CSI report sub-configuration may include an indication indicating at least one CSI-RS port selected from CSI-RS ports of each CSI-RS resource of the multiple CSI-RS resources or the plurality of CSI-RS resources for CSI-RS transmission. That is, the indication may be configured per component CSI-RS resource.

[0133] As an example, the indication may be a bitmap, wherein the number of the bits included in the bitmap may be equal to the number of CSI-RS ports of a component CSI-RS resource, wherein each bit may indicate whether a corresponding CSI-RS port is selected for CSI-RS transmission. The bitmap may be used for all the multiple CSI-RS resources or all the plurality of CSI-RS resources which are aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with the  number of CSI-RS ports. For example, the indication may be the parameter portsubsetIndicator with no more than 32 bits in Rel. 18 Type 1 NES scheme in spatial domain.

[0134] In scheme 2-2, a CSI report sub-configuration may be associated with one muting pattern, which is implicitly determined by the CSI-RS resource list included in the CSI report sub-configuration and the aforementioned indication included in the CSI report sub-configuration.

[0135] In scheme 2-2, each CSI report sub-configuration may include a codebook sub-configuration (e.g., defined by a parameter codebookSubConfig) configured based on all selected CSI-RS ports for CSI-RS transmission. For example, the codebook sub-configuration includes one or more of a codebook subset restriction (e.g., defined by a parameter codebookSubsetRestriction) or a RI restriction (e.g., defined by a parameter ri-Restriction) .

[0136] Referring to 3c in Figure 3, it illustrates an example of the enhanced Type 2 NES scheme 2-2, which may be based on the Type 2 NES schemes in Embodiment I and the aforementioned indication in scheme 2-2.

[0137] For example, the Type 2 NES schemes in Embodiment I may indicate that TXRU 2 or AE subset 2 associated with each CSI-RS port is used for CSI-RS transmission. The indication may be a 64-bit bitmap with 17th, 18th, 25th, 26th, 49th, 50th, 57th, and 58th bits being "1" , which indicates that 8 ports (i.e., ports #17, 18, 25, 25, 49, 50, 57, and 58) are used for CSI-RS transmission.

[0138] Then, in the enhanced Type 2 NES scheme 2-2, TXRU 2 or AE subset 2 associated with each CSI-RS port of all the 8 ports (i.e., ports #17, 18, 25, 25, 49, 50, 57, and 58) is used for CSI-RS transmission.

[0139] Referring to 3d in Figure 3, it illustrates another example of the enhanced Type 2 NES scheme 2-2, which may be based on the Type 2 NES schemes in Embodiment I and the aforementioned indication in scheme 2-2.

[0140] For example, the Type 2 NES schemes in Embodiment I may indicate that TXRU 2 or AE subset 2 associated with each CSI-RS port is used for CSI-RS transmission. The indication may be a 16-bit bitmap with 1th, 9th bits being "1" for each component CSI-RS, which  indicates that 8 ports, i.e., ports #1 and #33 from CSI-RS resource 1, ports #9 and #41 from CSI-RS resource 2, ports #17 and #49 from CSI-RS resource 3, and ports #25 and #57 from CSI-RS resource 4, are used for CSI-RS transmission.

[0141] Then, in the enhanced Type 2 NES scheme 2-2, TXRU 2 or AE subset 2 associated with each CSI-RS port of all the 8 ports (i.e., ports #1, 9, 17, 25, 33, 41, 49, and 57) is used for CSI-RS transmission.

[0142] The enhanced Type 2 NES scheme 2-2 may achieve a finer muting pattern compared with enhanced Type 2 NES scheme 2-1. However, in the enhanced Type 2 NES scheme 2-2, it is up to the BS to ensure the mapping of the indication to a uniform cross polarization (x-pol) rectangular array with supported (N1, N2) configuration for single-panel case and (N1, N2, Ng) configuration for multi-panel case, wherein N1 is a number of antenna ports per polarization direction in a horizontal direction of an antenna array, N2 is a number of antenna ports per polarization direction in a vertical direction of the antenna array, and Ng is a number of panels of the antenna array. From the perspective of BS configuration, scheme 2-1 is simpler relative to scheme 2-2.

[0143] In some cases, for both enhanced scheme 2-1 and scheme 2-2, the mixed codebook types may be configured for a UE with capability to support the mixed codebook types in a slot. For example, the mixed codebook types may include Type I single panel and Type I multi-panel. The UE may transmit capability information indicating whether the UE supports mixed codebook types in a slot.

[0144] For a UE with capability to support the mixed codebook types in a slot, a codebook type (e.g., defined by a parameter "codebookType" ) for a CSI report sub-configuration of the CSI report sub-configurations may be set to Type I single panel (e.g., defined by a parameter "typeI-SinglePanel" ) , and a codebook type for another CSI report sub-configuration of the CSI report sub-configurations may be set to Type I multi-panel (e.g., defined by a parameter "typeI-MultiPanel" ) .

[0145] For legacy NES schemes specified in Rel. 18, power domain adaptation is supported and joint spatial domain operation and power domain adaptation is also supported, wherein a power offset (e.g., defined by a parameter powerOffset) for PDSCH relative to CSI-RS in  addition to a power control offset (e.g., defined by a parameter powerControlOffset) of the CSI-RS resource (s) may be configured in a CSI report sub-configuration (e.g., defined by a parameter CSI-ReportSubConfig) for Type 1 or Type 2 NES scheme in spatial domain. However, power domain NES in Rel. 18are applied for CSI reporting with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports. Then, how to support power domain NES for more than 32 CSI-RS ports needs to be solved.

[0146] In some embodiments of the present application, for the enhanced Type-I codebook with more than 32 ports, e.g., 48, 64, and 128 CSI-RS ports, an SD basis group-based scaling factor (e.g., a 3-bit scaling factor) may be configured by the BS via higher layer signalling, e.g., a radio resource control (RRC) signalling for each group of X1X2 SD basis vectors, wherein the values of X1 and X2 may be separately configured from those for codebook subset restriction (CBSR) . Taking the scaling factor into account, there is an interaction between the power offset and the scaling factor. Then, whether to support two parameters and how to support one or two parameters need to be determined.

[0147] The following Embodiment III provides solutions for supporting power domain NES for more than 32 CSI-RS ports, which at least can solve the above technical problems.

[0148] Embodiment III

[0149] In Embodiment III, to support power domain NES for CSI reporting with a number of CSI-RS ports (e.g., more than 32 CSI-RS ports) , a UE may receive, from an NE (e.g., a BS) , a CSI report configuration (e.g., denoted by a parameter CSI-ReportConfig) including CSI report sub-configurations for CSI sub-reports. Each CSI report sub-configuration (e.g., defined by a parameter CSI-ReportSubConfig) may indicate a power domain parameter.

[0150] In some cases of Embodiment III, one power domain adaptation pattern may be associated with one CSI report sub-configuration, so that power balance (i.e. the same power) between CSI-RS ports in one aggregated CSI-RS resource may be ensured. To achieve this, one power offset may be configured in one CSI report sub-configuration. The power domain parameter included in each CSI report sub-configuration may be a power offset (e.g., defined by a parameter powerOffset) .

[0151] For Type 2 and enhanced Type NES schemes in spatial domain, the power offset may be used commonly for all CSI-RS resources in the CSI-RS resource list (for both cases:  with and without CSI-RS resource subsets) . For Type 1 NES scheme in spatial domain, the power offset value may be used for all CSI-RS resources in a channel measurement resource set with a number of CSI-RS ports (e.g., more than 32 CSI-RS ports) indicated by a port subset indicator (e.g., defined by the aforementioned parameter portSubsetIndicator) included in the CSI report sub-configuration.

[0152] In some cases of Embodiment III, the power offset and the SD basis group-based scaling factor may be configured to the UE independently.

[0153] As an example, the power domain parameter included in each CSI report sub-configuration may be a power offset (e.g., defined by a parameter powerOffset) , and each CSI report sub-configuration of the CSI report sub-configurations may also indicate an SD basis group-based scaling factor. However, the signalling overhead is large on account of the configurations per CSI report sub-configuration and per group of X1X2 SD basis vectors. To reduce the signaling overhead, in another example, the CSI report configuration may include a common SD basis group-based scaling factor used for all of the CSI report sub-configurations. The common SD basis group-based scaling factor may be a tradeoff value between multiple CSI report sub-configurations because different power offset values are used for different CSI report sub-configurations.

[0154] In some cases of Embodiment III, it is assumed that the interference is not strong when a NES scheme in power domain is used. For special cases with server interference, the power scaling may be performed together by a power offset for each CSI report sub-configuration. Thus, it is not supported to configure an SD basis group-based scaling factor when the NES scheme in power domain is used. In detail, SD basis group-based scaling factor is not assumed to be configured when a power offset is configured in a CSI report sub-configuration. In other words, there is no available SD basis group-based scaling factor in any CSI report sub-configuration or the CSI report configuration when the power domain parameter included in each CSI report sub-configuration is a power offset.

[0155] In some cases of Embodiment III, the SD basis group-based scaling factor and the power offset may be merged in a CSI report sub-configuration to simplify BS's configuration and CSI-RS transmission power determination by the UE. Only an SD basis group-based  scaling factor is configured for each CSI report sub-configuration and there is no power offset in each CSI report sub-configuration. That is, the power domain parameter included in each CSI report sub-configuration is an SD basis group-based scaling factor, and there is no available power offset in any CSI report sub-configuration. In this way, the power domain adaption can be implicitly realized by the SD basis group-based scaling factor.

[0156] Figure 4 illustrates a flowchart of an exemplary method in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The operations of the method illustrated in Figure 4 may be performed by a UE (e.g., UE 104 in Figure 1) as described herein or other apparatus with the like functions. In some implementations, the UE may execute a set of instructions to control functional elements of the UE to perform the described operations or functions.

[0157] At step 402, the UE may receive, from a NE (e.g., NE 102) , a CSI report configuration including CSI report sub-configurations for CSI sub-reports, wherein each CSI report sub-configuration indicates at least one of: a CSI-RS resource list or a power domain parameter. The CSI-RS resource list may indicate multiple CSI-RS resources or at least one CSI-RS resource subset, wherein the multiple CSI-RS resources or a plurality of CSI-RS resources in a CSI-RS resource subset are aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with a number of CSI-RS ports.

[0158] At step 404, the UE may determine a CSI report including the CSI sub-reports based on the received CSI report configuration. Then, the UE may transmit the CSI report to the NE.

[0159] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, in the case that the CSI-RS resource list indicates the at least one CSI-RS resource subset, a CSI sub-report associated with the CSI-RS resource list includes at least one CRI associated with the at least one CSI-RS resource subset, and a CRI with an index k corresponds to an (k+1) th entry of associated CSI-RS resource subset in the CSI-RS resource list, wherein k ≥ 0.

[0160] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, in the case that the CSI-RS resource list indicates the multiple CSI-RS resources, no CRI is included in a CSI sub-report associated with the CSI-RS resource list.

[0161] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the CSI report configuration includes a codebook configuration configured for a generated CSI-RS resource with the number of CSI-RS ports.

[0162] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, there is no symbol intersection between CSI-RS resources associated with different CSI-RS resource lists.

[0163] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, a CSI report sub-configuration including a CSI-RS resource list is not expected to be configured when a generated CSI-RS resource for channel measurement is more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0164] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the UE may transmit capability information indicating whether the UE supports being configured with a CSI-RS resource list when a generated CSI-RS resource for channel measurement is more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0165] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, each CSI report sub-configuration indicates at least one CSI-RS resource selected from the multiple CSI-RS resources or the plurality of CSI-RS resources for CSI-RS transmission,

[0166] In some embodiments, all CSI-RS ports of a selected CSI-RS resource are used for CSI-RS transmission.

[0167] In some embodiments, each CSI report sub-configuration includes a codebook sub-configuration configured based on all CSI-RS ports of the selected at least one CSI-RS resource, and wherein the codebook sub-configuration includes one or more of a codebook subset restriction or an RI restriction.

[0168] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, each CSI report sub-configuration indicates at least one CSI-RS port selected from the number of CSI-RS ports of a generated CSI-RS resource or selected from CSI-RS ports of each CSI-RS resource of the multiple CSI-RS resources or the plurality of CSI-RS resources for CSI-RS transmission.

[0169] In some embodiments, each CSI report sub-configuration indicates a codebook sub-configuration configured based on all selected CSI-RS ports for CSI-RS transmission and  wherein the codebook sub-configuration includes one or more of a codebook subset restriction or an RI restriction.

[0170] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, a codebook type for a CSI report sub-configuration of the CSI report sub-configurations is set to Type I single panel, and a codebook type for another CSI report sub-configuration of the CSI report sub-configurations is set to Type I multi-panel.

[0171] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the UE may transmit capability information indicating whether the UE supports mixed codebook types in a slot.

[0172] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the power domain parameter is a power offset used for all CSI-RS resources included in the CSI-RS resource list or used for all CSI-RS resources in a channel measurement resource set with a number of CSI-RS ports indicated by a port subset indicator included in the CSI report sub-configuration.

[0173] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the power domain parameter is a power offset, and wherein: each CSI report sub-configuration of the CSI report sub-configurations indicates an SD basis group-based scaling factor; or the CSI report configuration includes a common SD basis group-based scaling factor used for all of the CSI report sub-configurations; or there is no available SD basis group-based scaling factor in any CSI report sub-configuration or the CSI report configuration.

[0174] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the power domain parameter is an SD basis group-based scaling factor, and there is no available power offset in any CSI report sub-configuration.

[0175] It should be noted that the method described herein describes a possible implementation, and that the operations and the steps may be arranged or otherwise modified and that other implementations are possible.

[0176] Figure 5 illustrates a flowchart of an exemplary method in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The operations of the method illustrated in Figure 5 may be performed by a NE (e.g., a NE 102 in Figure 1) as described herein or other apparatus with the like functions.  In some implementations, the NE may execute a set of instructions to control functional elements of the NE to perform the described operations or functions.

[0177] At step 502, the NE may transmit, to a UE (e.g., UE 104 in Figure 1) , a CSI report configuration including CSI report sub-configurations for CSI sub-reports, wherein each CSI report sub-configuration indicates at least one of: a CSI-RS resource list; or a power domain parameter. The CSI-RS resource list may indicate multiple CSI-RS resources or at least one CSI-RS resource subset, wherein the multiple CSI-RS resources or a plurality of CSI-RS resources in each CSI-RS resource subset are aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with a number of CSI-RS ports.

[0178] At step 504, the NE may receive, from the UE, a CSI report including the CSI sub-reports based on the transmitted CSI report configuration.
