Description

"AIR FILTRATION ASSEMBLY"DESCRIPTIONField of application

[0001] The present invention relates to an air filtration assembly . Furthermore , the present invention also relates to an engine air supply system of a vehicle that comprises the air filtration assembly . In addition, the present invention also relates to a passenger compartment air ventilation system of a vehicle that comprises the air filtration assembly .

[0002] The context of the present invention falls within the air filtration assemblies of the automotive sector . Speci fically, it refers to air filtration assemblies suitable for filtering the air that is drawn from the environment to be brought into the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine and to air ventilation assemblies suitable for filtering the air that is drawn from the external environment to ventilate the passenger compartment .

[0003] In particular and with particular reference to engine air filtration assemblies , the purpose of such assemblies is to filter the air in such a way as to eliminate therefrom suspended particles that , when arriving in the combustion chamber, may damage the engine ( or its components ) or cause inef fective combustion .

[0004] Furthermore , with particular reference to passenger compartment air filtration assemblies , the purpose of such assemblies is to filter air in such a way as to prevent the entry of dust and / or solid contaminants and / or gaseous contaminants into the passenger compartment .

[0005] It is therefore essential that air filtration is performed ef fectively and ef ficiently, avoiding the possibility of leakage and thus avoiding the possibility of contaminants reaching the combustion chamber or the passenger compartment .

[0006] The known air filtration assemblies comprise speci fic housings and speci fic filtering cartridges , typically panel elements housed in said housing .

[0007] The main problem with known air filtration assemblies lies in the mal function of the filtering cartridge typically due to an incorrect positioning of the cartridge inside the housing .

[0008] Speci fically, in fact , in the known solutions of the prior art there is typically a problem of incorrect positioning of the filtering cartridge , which engages the housing with a non-ef fective seal , thereby mani festing in a partial leakage of air and resulting in inef ficient filtration . Furthermore , carrying out operations for inserting the filtering cartridge into the housing in anincorrect manner entails potential damage to the filtering cartridge and / or its sealing profiles , again causing inef fective air filtration .

[0009] In order to overcome this problem, in the prior art multiple embodiments of air filtration assemblies have been implemented in which the filtering cartridges and / or special housing components of the filtering cartridges are subj ect to speci fic movements suitable for performing correct positioning between the parts .

[0010] However, it has been veri fied that these solutions do not fully solve the aforementioned technical problem . Such known solutions , in fact , lack simple maintenance operations and therefore lack simple ways of inserting new filtering cartridges inside the respective housings , thus making for a high probability of error, leading to the possibility that a filtering cartridge is erroneously housed inside the box or in general incorrectly positioned .Solution of the invention

[0011] Therefore , there appears to be a strong need to provide an air filtration assembly that has a support body and a filtering cartridge mutually engageable in a simple , intuitive manner, but above all avoiding an incorrect positioning that would give rise to unwanted leakage or breakage .

[0012] The obj ect of the present invention is precisely to provide an air filtration assembly in which the aforementioned need is resolved and in which the needs of the speci fic field of application are also met in an ef fective and ef ficient manner .

[0013] This obj ect is achieved by means of the air filtration assembly claimed in claim 1 . In addition, this obj ect is also achieved, in accordance with claim 17 , by an engine air supply system of a vehicle , comprising the filtration assembly . Furthermore , this obj ect is also achieved, in accordance with claim 18 , by a passenger compartment air supply system, comprising the filtration assembly .
