AI Technical Summary
Existing dental implants face limitations in surface area, which affect osteointegration, and current methods like sand blasting are insufficient to significantly increase this area.
The use of longitudinal slots along the implant's buried portion, combined with etching or sand blasting, significantly increases the surface area, and initial fixation is achieved through press fitting rather than rotation.
This design enhances osteointegration by increasing the surface area by approximately 200%, improving the bond between the implant and surrounding bones.

Description
[0001] Longitudinal slotted dental implant
[0002] 1. Technical Field
[0003] Longitudinal slotted dental implant
[0004] 2. Background art
[0005] Dental Implants are artificial substitutes for natural tooth roots. The current technique used for implant fixation is utilizing mechanical threads on the surface of the implant. The success of the dental implant is based on the bond between the implant and the surrounding bones, this bond is referred to as osteointegration.
[0006] Osteointegration is the natural growth of bones on the surface of the implant. The surface area of the implant is a key factor in osteointegration. The greater the surface area of the implant, the better is the osteointegration.
[0007] One of the methods currently used to increase the surface area of the implant is by sand blasting the outer surface of the implant threads. This method is limited by the actual surface area of the implantthreads. Increasing the surface area of the implant is essential for increasing the osteointegration process. 3. Disclosure of invention
[0008] The traditional threads are eliminated. The invention utilizes longitudinal slots along the buried portion of the implantnumerous slots with a depth of 0.25 mm. A comparison between the geometry of the two designs showed a significant increase in total surface area with an approximate increase of 200%.
[0009] Further increase in surface area is established by performing the etching or sand blasting techniques.
[0010] The initial fixation of the implant will be achieved by press fitting instead of rotation of the implant.
