[0011] (Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology to Wireless Communications) With regard to future wireless communications technologies, the use of AI technology such as machine learning (ML) for network / device control and management is being considered.

[0012] For example, for future wireless communication technologies, the use of AI techniques is being considered to improve channel state information (CSI) feedback (e.g., reduced overhead, improved accuracy, prediction), improve beam management (e.g., improved accuracy, prediction in the time / space domain), and improve positioning (e.g., improved position estimation / prediction).

[0013] 1 is a diagram illustrating an example of a framework for managing an AI model. In this example, each stage related to an AI model is shown as a block. This example is also referred to as lifecycle management of an AI model.

[0014] The data collection stage corresponds to a stage of collecting data for generating / updating an AI model. The data collection stage may include data organization (e.g., determining which data to transfer for model training / model inference), data transfer (e.g., transferring data to an entity (e.g., UE, gNB) that performs model training / model inference), etc.

[0015] In the model training stage, model training is performed based on the data (training data) transferred from the collection stage. This stage may include data preparation (e.g., performing data preprocessing, cleaning, formatting, transformation, etc.), model training / validation, model testing (e.g., verifying whether the trained model meets a performance threshold), model exchange (e.g., transferring the model for distributed learning), and model deployment / update (deploying / updating the model to the entity that will perform model inference).

[0016] In the model inference stage, model inference is performed based on the data (inference data) transferred from the collection stage. This stage may include data preparation (e.g., performing data preprocessing, cleaning, formatting, transformation, etc.), model inference, model performance feedback (feeding back model performance to the entity training the model), and output (providing model output to the actor).

[0017] An actor stage may include action triggers (e.g., deciding whether to trigger an action on another entity), feedback (e.g., feeding back information needed for training data / inference data / performance feedback), etc.

[0018] For example, training of a model for mobility optimization may be performed in, for example, Operation, Administration and Maintenance (Management) / gNodeB (gNB) in a network (NW). In the former case, interoperability, large-capacity storage, operator manageability, and model flexibility (feature engineering, etc.) are advantageous. In the latter case, the absence of latency in model updates and data exchange for model deployment is advantageous. Inference of the model may be performed in, for example, a gNB.

[0019] Also, depending on the use case, the entity that performs the training / inference may be different.

[0020] For example, for AI-assisted beam management based on measurement reports, the OAM / gNB may perform model training and the gNB may perform model inference.

[0021] For AI-assisted UE-assisted positioning, a Location Management Function (LMF) may perform model training and the LMF may perform model inference.

[0022] For CSI feedback / channel estimation using an autoencoder, the OAM / gNB / UE may perform model training and the gNB / UE may perform model inference (jointly).

[0023] For AI-assisted beam management or AI-assisted UE-based positioning based on beam measurements, the OAM / gNB / UE may perform model training and the UE may perform model inference.

[0024] In one embodiment of the present disclosure, a terminal (user equipment (UE)) / base station (BS) trains an ML model in a training mode and executes the ML model in an inference mode (also called an inference mode). [0056] Phase-related DL / UL measurements are specified in Rel. 18 NR positioning and are considered as possible inference input or output intermediate values for AI-based positioning. For example, DL RSCP, DL RSCPD, and UL RSCP are specified as follows:

[0057] <Downlink reference signal carrier phase (DL RSCP)> The DL RSCP of the i-th path is defined as the phase of the channel response at the i-th path delay obtained from the resource element carrying the DL PRS configured for measurement. The DL RSCP is associated with the center frequency of the DL positioning frequency layer (PFL) configured for measurement. For Frequency range 1 (FR1), the reference point for the DL RSCP is the UE antenna connector. For Frequency range 2 (FR2), the reference point for the DL RSCP is the UE antenna. The DL RSCP is applicable in the RRC connected state (RRC_CONNECTED), RRC inactive (RRC_INACTIVE), or RRC idle (RRC_IDLE).

[0058] <Downlink reference signal carrier phase difference (DL RSCPD)> RSCPD is defined as the difference between the DL RSCP from transmission point (TP) j and the DL RSCP from reference TP i, measured from the DL PRS transmitted in the DL PFL. If the UE reports RSCPD measurements along with RSTD measurements in the measurement report element, the reference TP for RSCPD is the same as the reference TP reported for RSTD. For Frequency range 1 (FR1), the reference point for DL RSCPD is the UE's antenna connector. For Frequency range 2 (FR2), the reference point for DL RSCPD is the UE's antenna. DL RSCPD is applicable in the RRC connected, inactive, or idle states.

[0059] <Uplink reference signal carrier phase (UL RSCP)> The UL RSCP of the i-th path is defined as the phase of the channel response at the i-th path delay obtained from the resource element transmitting the sounding reference signal (SRS) configured for measurement. The UL RSCP is related to the center frequency of the transmission bandwidth of the positioning SRS configured for measurement.

[0060] The reference point for the UL RSCP shall be: - for Type 1-C Base Station, the connector of the receive antenna; - for Type 1-O or 2-O Base Station, the receive antenna (i.e. the center position of the radiation area of the receive antenna); - for Type 1-H Base Station, the receive Transceiver Array Boundary connector.

[0061] <Information Elements for Positioning> Figure 4 shows NR-DL-TDOA-RequestLocationInformation. NR-DL-TDOA-RequestLocationInformation is used by a location server to request NR Downlink Time Difference Of Arrival (DL TDOA) positioning measurements from a target device. For example, NR-DL-TDOA-RequestLocationInformation is used when a Location Management Function (LMF) requests a UE to perform positioning measurements using different positioning methods. For example, the parameters in NR-DL-TDOA-RequestLocationInformation-r16 in Figure 4 are used when the LMF requests a UE to perform measurements (positioning).

[0062] Figure 5 is a diagram showing CommonIEsRequestLocationInformation. CommonIEsRequestLocationInformation carries a common information element (IE) of the location information request LTE Positioning Protocol (LPP) message type. CommonIEsRequestLocationInformation is used by the LMF to request common information related to location estimation from the UE. For example, the parameters within the dotted line in Figure 5 are common information that the LMF requests from the UE regardless of the positioning method.

[0063] Figure 6 shows NR-DL-TDOA-SignalMeasurementInformation. NR-DL-TDOA-SignalMeasurementInformation is used by a target device to provide NR DL TDOA measurements to a location server. For example, NR-DL-TDOA-SignalMeasurementInformation is used by a UE to provide location measurements for different positioning methods to an LMF. The parameters within the dotted line in Figure 6 are used to report DL TDOA measurements from the UE to the LMF.

[0064] 7 is a diagram showing CommonIEsProvideLocationInformation. CommonIEsProvideLocationInformation carries a common information element (IE) of the Provide Location Information LPP message type. CommonIEsProvideLocationInformation is used, for example, by a UE to provide common information related to location estimation to an LMF.

[0065] (Input Information Source for Model Inference) Input information for model inference may include at least one of the following information (1) and (2).

[0066] (1) Information about UE measurements. This information may include channel information measured by the UE (e.g., channel impulse response (CIR)), channel feedback report (CFR), power delay profile (PDP)), etc.). In addition, this information may include UE measurements of PRS. This information about UE measurements may be transmitted from the UE to the LMF via higher layer signaling.

[0067] (2) Information regarding indications from the NW (gNB / LMF). The UE may receive this information from the NW via higher layer signaling / physical layer signaling. Note that for virtual location prediction using the AI / ML model, a large amount of information regarding UE measurements (e.g., RSTD / Rx-Tx time difference / ToA, etc.) may be applied as model input. These input information may be generated / instructed by the NW, unlike UE measurements. This allows information generated / instructed on the NW side instead of UE measurements to be used as model input (e.g., for training). In other words, it is possible to reduce UE measurements and suppress UE load.

[0068] (Channel Impulse Response (CIR)) CIR may refer to parameters indicating coefficients (e.g., amplitude / phase) for each time-domain sample / antenna port. The impulse response of a wireless propagation channel is composed of multipath components, and its local average time and angular characteristics are obtained from large-scale and small-scale parameters.

[0069] The large-scale parameters typically refer to azimuth spread (AS), root-mean-square (RMS) delay spread, shadow fading (SF), and Rician K-factor, but need to be extended to include zenith (i.e., elevation) spread as well, due to the expected azimuth and elevation directivity in future millimeter wave (mmWave) systems with multiple antenna arrays.

[0070] Small-scale parameters refer to the characteristics of a single multipath component, such as path delay and angles of arrival and departure.

[0071] CIR / PDP Report When the UE sends a CIR / PDP report, at least one of the following options may be applied:

[0072] Option 1: The UE may directly transmit the CIR / PDP components of multiple paths for each measurement time instance.

[0073] Option 2: The UE may report the difference value of the information in the CIR / PDP elements. In this case, for example, Option 2-1 / 2-2 may be applied.

[0074] Option 2-1: The UE may report information in the CIR / PDP element of the reference antenna port at each measurement time instance, and a difference value between the information in the CIR / PDP element of the reference antenna port at each measurement time instance and the information in the CIR / PDP element of each antenna port. The reference antenna port may be predefined (e.g., the first arriving path) or may be based on the UE implementation.

[0075] <<Option 2-2>> The UE may transmit information in the CIR / PDP elements of multiple antenna ports at a reference measurement time, and a difference value between the information in the CIR / PDP elements of multiple antenna ports for the reference measurement time and the information in the CIR / PDP elements at each measurement time. The reference measurement time may be predefined, configured by the network, or configured by the UE implementation.

[0076] <<Option 2-3>> The UE may report information in the CIR / PDP elements of the reference antenna port at the reference measurement time, and a difference value between information for each path at each measurement time related to the reference antenna port and the reference measurement time and information in the CIR / PDP elements at each measurement time and each reference antenna port. In Option 2-3, the reference path / reference measurement time may be the same as in Option 2-1 / 2-2.

[0077] In Option 2-1 / 2-2 / 2-3, the antenna port / measurement time may be replaced with the subband / angle / delay time. In Option 2-1 / 2-2 / 2-3, the UE reports differential values instead of absolute values, which can reduce signal overhead.

[0078] (Application of model inference to AI-based positioning) The UE / gNB receives configuration / instruction information regarding measurement of Channel Impulse Response (CIR) / Power Delay Profile (PDP) / Delay Profile (DP), applies model inference for AI-based positioning, and may transmit measurement results to the LMF based on the received configuration / instruction information. Details of the transmission content will be described later (1-1, 1-2).

[0079] The UE / gNB may measure the CIR / PDP / DP, apply model inference for AI / ML-based positioning, and transmit the measurement results (or output results of the AI model) to the LMF. For example, the UE / gNB may use at least one of the following information A to C as input information x (original input values) in FIG. 2, and transmit a final output y (post-processed output values) to the LMF:

[0080] <1-1> The UE may measure the CIR / PDP / DP, apply model inference for AI / ML-based positioning, and send the measurement results (or the output results of the AI model) to the LMF.

[0081] The CIR can be represented by a measurement report containing timing, power, and phase information of the channel response. The CIR report (measurement result) may include at least one of types A (timing information), B (power information), and C (phase information), which will be described later.

[0082] The PDP can be represented by a measurement report containing timing and power information of the channel response. The report (measurement result) on the PDP may include at least one of type A (timing information) and type B (power information) information as described below.

[0083] The DP can be represented by a measurement report containing timing information of the channel response. The report (measurement result) on the DP may contain at least one piece of information of type A (timing information).

[0084] (A) Timing Information DL RSTD measurement value. UE receive-transmit time difference measurement value. UE receive Timing Error Group (TEG) ID for DL RSTD measurement. UE receive TEG ID, UE transmit TEG ID, UE receive / transmit TEG IDs related to UE receive-transmit time difference measurement. Arrival time information of DL PRS. Relative arrival time information of DL PRS.

[0085] (B) Power Information: DL-PRS-RSRP measurement value, DL-PRS-RSRPPP measurement value, SS-RSRP / RSRQ, CSI-RSRP / RSRQ, SS / CSI-SINR, RSSI.

[0086] (C) Phase information DL-PRS receive beam index, arrival / departure angle (azimuth / elevation), DL reference signal carrier phase, DL reference signal carrier phase difference.

[0087] The UE may report the above information A to C for each path / sample / time instance / antenna port / subband / angle.

[0088] <1-2> The base station (gNB) may measure the CIR / PDP / DP, apply model inference for AI / ML-based positioning, and transmit the measurement results (output results of the AI model) to the LMF. The CIR may include at least one of the following types A (timing information), B (power information), and C (phase information), the PDP may include at least one of the types A (timing information) and B (power information) described below, and the DP may include at least one of type A (timing information).

[0089] (A) Timing information UL-Relative Time of Arrival (RTOA) gNB reception-transmission time difference measurement Timing advance UL SRS arrival time information

[0090] (B) Power information ・UL-SRS-RSRP. ・UL-SRS-RSRPP. ・SS-RSRP / RSRQ. ・CSI-RSRP / RSRQ. ・RSSI. ・SINR.

[0091] (C) Phase Information Spatial direction information of DL-PRS resources UL AoA (azimuth angle / elevation angle) Multiple UL AoA (azimuth angle / elevation angle) Measurement beam information UL reference signal carrier phase.

[0092] The UE may report the above information A to C for each path / sample / time instance / measurement / antenna port / subband / angle.

[0093] (Additional Paths) Figure 8 shows the information element (IE) NR-AdditionalPathList. The information element (IE) NR-AdditionalPathList is used by the target device to provide information about additional paths associated with NR positioning-related Time of Arrival (TOA) measurements in the form of relative time differences and quality values. The additional path nr-RelativeTimeDifference is the timing of the detected path relative to the timing of the detected path used for the TOA value, and each additional path can be associated with a quality value nr-PathQuality.

[0094] For example, the reporting range for additional pathway reporting of RSTD measurements is 2 k ×T c Resolution step: -8175×T c From 8175 x T c is defined to the extent that

[0095] A UE can report the timing of up to two additional paths with respect to the timing of the path for which RSTD measurements are determined. A UE that supports the UE capability for additional paths (additionalPathsExtSupport-r17) can report the timing of as many additional paths as the UE capability with respect to the timing of the path for which RSTD measurements are determined. The report mapping for different k=0 values is specified as in Figure 9.

[0096] (Sampling Period) A new sampling period is being considered for AI positioning. Since the existing report format cannot report at the fine time granularity required for AI positioning, it is preferable to define a new report format. Since the reporting granularity becomes finer, the overhead will increase unless an appropriate report format is defined. For example, the maximum granularity for evaluation is 8.14 nanoseconds.

[0097] For example, the sampling period for 16 sources is considered as follows: Sampling period = 1 / (N f ×△f). In the case of FR1, the sampling period = 1 / (4096 × 30) = 8.14 (ns), where N f is 4096, and Δf is the subcarrier spacing of 30 kHz.

[0098] When one source is used, the sampling period is considered to be 4.069 ns.

[0099] (Analysis) As described above, artificial intelligence (AI)-based positioning is being considered for future wireless communication systems. For example, it is being considered that a terminal (user terminal, User Equipment (UE)) measures and reports a channel impulse response (CIR), a power delay profile (PDP), and a delay profile (DP).

[0100] However, details regarding the settings and reporting content when using AI-based positioning have not been made clear, which may result in a decrease in communication throughput due to inappropriate reporting of AI / ML-based positioning.

[0101] For example, for time domain information, the UE can investigate both sample-based and path-based measurements. Sample-based measurements may have high measurement granularity but have high overhead. Path-based measurements, on the other hand, can reuse the current RSRP / RSRPP reporting format and have low overhead. Sample-based measurements may have significantly larger overhead sizes than path-based measurements. Therefore, it is preferable to consider a new configuration / report format for sample-based measurements.

[0102] Therefore, the present inventors have conceived a method that can provide appropriate reporting regarding AI / ML-based positioning.

[0117] (Wireless communication method) A UE may receive configuration information related to measurements of at least one of a Channel Impulse Response (CIR), a Power Delay Profile (PDP), and a Delay Profile (DP), the configuration information including at least one parameter of an additional path and a relative time difference for Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based positioning, apply model inference for the AI-based positioning, perform measurements based on the configuration information, and transmit the measurement results to a Location Management Function (LMF).

[0118] The present disclosure may be applicable to all LCM procedures (e.g., model inference, performance monitoring, model training, model updating, etc.) where CIR / PDP / DP or related timing / power / phase information is required.

[0119] <Embodiment 0> A new IE for reporting sample-based measurements will be described. UE / gNB can report timing related to CIR / PDP / DP, etc. The new IE may include at least one of the following optional parameters. For application of each option, it may be switched / set by RRC / MAC CE / DCI / LPP message / NRPPa message. The new IE / parameter (e.g., parameters for Rel. 19 (XXXXX-r19)) may be parameters for AI-based positioning.

[0120] Option 1: Rel. 19-specific additional path / relative time difference parameters (NR-AdditionalPath / nr-RelativeTimeDifference). This method is the simplest, but the actual values used and the reserved values may be set depending on the reported size / granularity.

[0121] Option 2: A new k value for the current relative time difference parameter (nr-RelativeTimeDiffence). In this case, no bits are wasted and the impact on the specification is minimal.

[0122] Option 3: Separate IEs may be configured to indicate more detailed values. For example, the parameters for additional path / relative time difference may be configured separately. In this case, it is possible to reuse the current NR-AdditionalPath / nr-RelativeTimeDifference as much as possible.

[0123] The timing information may be paired with the power / phase information. For example, at least one of the following options 1 and 2 may be applied:

[0124] Option 1: Timing information, power / phase information may be reported simultaneously (e.g., in NR-DL-TDOA-SignalMeasurementInformation / NR-AdditionalPathList).

[0125] Option 2: Timing information, power / phase information is associated by flags / indicators / etc.

[0126] The UE may receive at least one of the following instructions / configurations from the NW (e.g., gNB, LMF): Whether the measurement is to be used for AI / ML-based positioning. Sample-based or path-based measurement.

[0127] All or part of the information included in the new IE (e.g., sampling period / number of samples / reference time) may be configured by the NW or requested by the UE.

[0128] <<Example of New IE>> Figure 10 is a diagram showing a first example of the information element (IE) NR-AdditionalPathList in Option 1. Dotted lines indicate differences from the existing IE (Figure 8). In Figure 10, a parameter (nr-RelativeTimeDifference-r19) for the relative time difference exclusive to Rel. 19 has been added. As with the existing parameter, different values may be set for each value of k as the relative time difference.

[0129] Figure 11 is a diagram showing a second example of the information element (IE) NR-AdditionalPathList in Option 1. Dotted lines indicate differences from the existing IE (Figure 8). In Figure 11, a parameter for the relative time difference (nr-RelativeTimeDifference-r19) dedicated to Rel. 19 has been added to the parameter for the additional path (NR-AdditionalPath-r19) dedicated to Rel. 19. As with the existing parameters, different values may be set for each value of k as the additional path. Note that although NR-AdditionalPath-r16 has been deleted, NR-AdditionalPath-r16 may also be included, as in Figure 8.

[0130] Figure 12 is a diagram showing an example of the information element (IE) NR-AdditionalPathList in Option 2. The dotted lines indicate differences from the existing IE (Figure 8). In Figure 12, a relative time difference corresponding to a new k value dedicated to Rel. 19 has been added as a parameter for the relative time difference (nr-RelativeTimeDifference). In Figure 12, a relative time difference of k=6 has been added, but relative time differences of other k values may also be added.

[0131] Figure 13 shows an example of the information element (IE) NR-AdditionalPathList in Option 3. The dotted lines indicate differences from the existing IE (Figure 8). In Figure 13, a parameter for the relative time difference (nr-RelativeTimeDifferenceExt-r19) specific to Rel. 19 has been added. The IE in Figure 13 is similar to that in Figure 10, but the granularity of the relative time difference is different (see Figure 14B, described below).

[0132] Fig. 14A is a diagram showing examples of the existing relative time difference and the new relative time difference in Options 1 and 2. In Fig. 14A, the total time (time range) of the existing relative time difference (nr-RelativeTimeDifference-r16) and the new relative time difference (nr-RelativeTimeDifference-r19) is the same, but the granularity is different.

[0133] Fig. 14B is a diagram showing an example of an existing relative time difference and a new relative time difference in Option 3. In Fig. 14B, a finer-grained relative time difference (nr-RelativeTimeDifference-r19) is defined within the time of one (or more) of the existing relative time differences (nr-RelativeTimeDifference-r16).

[0134] <First embodiment> A UE may receive a first setting / instruction (e.g., a sampling period) indicating the granularity of sample-based measurement / reporting from a NW (e.g., a gNB, an LMF), and may perform sample-based measurement / reporting using a granularity coarser than the first setting / instruction. The UE may receive a second setting / instruction with a coarser granularity from the NW, or may determine the coarse granularity without receiving the second setting / instruction. The granularity may be a time / frequency granularity corresponding to the positioning / measurement / reporting.

[0135] The measurement granularity and the reporting granularity may be separated (different). The UE may be instructed by the NW (e.g., gNB, LMF) to perform sample-based measurements using either a sampling period (FFT size) or a relaxed (coarse) granularity. For example, if the sampling Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) size is 4096 and the Subcarrier Spacing (SCS) is 30 kHz, the UE may apply a reporting granularity corresponding to an FFT size of 2048 and an SCS of 15 kHz.

[0136] The UE may receive a setting / instruction of the measurement / report granularity from the NW (gNB, LMF, etc.). The UE may report rounded measurement results according to the required accuracy conditions, or the UE may be instructed by the NW (gNB, LMF, etc.). The measurement results may be rounded, for example, by one of the following options: The rounding method may be reported by the UE or instructed to be reported by the NW.

[0137] Option 1: Round down. Option 2: Round up. Option 3: To the nearest slot / System Frame Number (SFN) / symbol / other timing.

[0138] <Second embodiment> The UE may receive a setting / instruction from a NW (gNB, LMF, etc.) to report a difference value from other measurement / report values (for example, measurement / report values at specific timings) as a measurement result, and transmit (report) the difference value from other measurement / report values. This makes it possible to reduce overhead while maintaining the reporting granularity (i.e., positioning accuracy).

[0139] The other measurement value may be, for example, one of the following options: Option 1: Previous measurement / reported value. Option 2: Measurement value at the closest SFN / slot / symbol, etc. In this case, the UE may report not only the difference value but also the measurement value at the closest SFN / slot / symbol, etc. Option 3: Measurement value at a reference SFN / slot / symbol, etc. Option 4: Difference value from a configured / instructed value Option 5: Average value of the measurement / reported value within a predetermined period.

[0154] (Wireless Communication System) The configuration of a wireless communication system according to an embodiment of the present disclosure will be described below. In this wireless communication system, communication is performed using any one of the wireless communication methods according to the above embodiments of the present disclosure or a combination thereof.

[0155] 15 is a diagram illustrating an example of a schematic configuration of a wireless communication system according to an embodiment. The wireless communication system 1 (which may be simply referred to as system 1) may be a system that realizes communication using Long Term Evolution (LTE) or 5th generation mobile communication system New Radio (5G NR) specified by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP).

[0156] The wireless communication system 1 may also support dual connectivity between multiple Radio Access Technologies (RATs) (Multi-RAT Dual Connectivity (MR-DC)). MR-DC may include dual connectivity between LTE (Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA)) and NR (E-UTRA-NR Dual Connectivity (EN-DC)), dual connectivity between NR and LTE (NR-E-UTRA Dual Connectivity (NE-DC)), etc.

[0157] In EN-DC, the LTE (E-UTRA) base station (eNB) is the master node (Master Node (MN)), and the NR base station (gNB) is the secondary node (Secondary Node (SN)). In NE-DC, the NR base station (gNB) is the MN, and the LTE (E-UTRA) base station (eNB) is the SN.

[0158] The wireless communication system 1 may support dual connectivity between multiple base stations within the same RAT (for example, dual connectivity in which both the MN and SN are NR base stations (gNBs) (NR-NR Dual Connectivity (NN-DC))).

[0159] The wireless communication system 1 may include a base station 11 that forms a macrocell C1 with a relatively wide coverage, and base stations 12 (12a-12c) that are located within the macrocell C1 and form small cells C2 that are smaller than the macrocell C1. A user terminal 20 may be located within at least one of the cells. The location, number, shape, size, etc. of each cell and user terminal 20 are not limited to the embodiment shown in the figure. Hereinafter, when there is no need to distinguish between the base stations 11 and 12, they will be collectively referred to as the base station 10.

[0160] The wireless communication system 1 may utilize multi-input multi-output (MIMO). For example, one cell may be formed by one antenna / base station 10, or may be formed by multiple antennas / base stations 10. One [virtual] cell (which may be called, for example, a supercell) may be composed of multiple [virtual] cells (which may be called, for example, subcells). A supercell may correspond to a cell with a fixed physical range, and a subcell may correspond to a cell with a quasi-static / dynamically variable physical range. In this case, the wireless communication system 1 may be called a cell-free system.

[0161] The user terminal 20 may be connected to at least one of the multiple base stations 10. The user terminal 20 may utilize at least one of carrier aggregation (CA) using multiple component carriers (CCs) and dual connectivity (DC).

[0162] Each CC may be included in at least one of a first frequency band (Frequency Range 1 (FR1)) and a second frequency band (Frequency Range 2 (FR2)). The macro cell C1 may be included in FR1, and the small cell C2 may be included in FR2. For example, FR1 may be a frequency band of 6 GHz or less (sub-6 GHz), and FR2 may be a frequency band higher than 24 GHz (above-24 GHz). Note that the frequency bands and definitions of FR1 and FR2 are not limited to these, and for example, FR1 may correspond to a higher frequency band than FR2.

[0163] Furthermore, the user terminal 20 may perform communication using at least one of time division duplex (TDD) and frequency division duplex (FDD) in each CC.

[0164] The multiple base stations 10 may be connected by wire (e.g., optical fiber compliant with the Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI), an X2 / Xn interface, etc.) or wirelessly (e.g., NR communication). For example, when NR communication is used as a backhaul between the base stations 11 and 12, the base station 11 corresponding to the upper station may be called an Integrated Access Backhaul (IAB) donor, and the base station 12 corresponding to the relay station (relay) may be called an IAB node.

[0165] The base station 10 may be connected to the core network 30 directly or via another base station 10. The core network 30 may include, for example, at least one of an Evolved Packet Core (EPC), a 5G Core Network (5GCN), a Next Generation Core (NGC), and the like.

[0166] The core network 30 may include network functions (Network Functions (NF)) such as a User Plane Function (UPF), an Access and Mobility management Function (AMF), a Session Management Function (SMF), a Unified Data Management (UDM), an Application Function (AF), a Data Network (DN), a Location Management Function (LMF), and Operation, Administration and Maintenance (Management) (OAM). A single network node may provide multiple functions. Communication with an external network (e.g., the Internet) may also be performed via the DN.

[0167] The user terminal 20 may be a terminal that supports at least one of communication methods such as LTE, LTE-A, and 5G.

[0168] An Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM)-based radio access scheme may be used in the wireless communication system 1. For example, Cyclic Prefix OFDM (CP-OFDM), Discrete Fourier Transform Spread OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM), Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA), Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA), or the like may be used in at least one of the downlink (DL) and uplink (UL).

[0169] The radio access scheme may also be called a waveform. Note that in the wireless communication system 1, other radio access schemes (e.g., other single-carrier transmission schemes, other multi-carrier transmission schemes) may be used as the UL and DL radio access schemes.

[0170] In the wireless communication system 1, a downlink shared channel (Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH)) shared by each user terminal 20, a broadcast channel (Physical Broadcast Channel (PBCH)), a downlink control channel (Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH)), etc. may be used as the downlink channel.

[0171] Furthermore, in the wireless communication system 1, an uplink shared channel (Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH)) shared by each user terminal 20, an uplink control channel (Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH)), a random access channel (Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH)), or the like may be used as an uplink channel.

[0172] The PDSCH transmits user data, higher layer control information, a System Information Block (SIB), etc. The PUSCH may transmit user data, higher layer control information, etc. Furthermore, the PBCH may transmit a Master Information Block (MIB).

[0173] Lower layer control information may be transmitted by the PDCCH. The lower layer control information may include, for example, Downlink Control Information (DCI) including scheduling information for at least one of the PDSCH and the PUSCH.

[0174] Note that the DCI for scheduling the PDSCH may be referred to as a DL assignment, a DL DCI, etc., and the DCI for scheduling the PUSCH may be referred to as a UL grant, a UL DCI, etc. Note that the PDSCH may be replaced with DL data, and the PUSCH may be replaced with UL data.

[0175] A control resource set (CORESET) and a search space may be used to detect the PDCCH. The CORESET corresponds to resources for searching for DCI. The search space corresponds to a search region and a search method for PDCCH candidates. One CORESET may be associated with one or more search spaces. The UE may monitor the CORESET associated with a certain search space based on the search space configuration.

[0176] One search space may correspond to PDCCH candidates corresponding to one or more aggregation levels. One or more search spaces may be referred to as a search space set. Note that the terms "search space," "search space set," "search space configuration," "search space set configuration," "CORESET," "CORESET configuration," and the like in the present disclosure may be read interchangeably.

[0177] The PUCCH may transmit uplink control information (UCI) including at least one of channel state information (CSI), delivery confirmation information (which may be called, for example, Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest ACKnowledgement (HARQ-ACK), ACK / NACK, etc.), and scheduling request (SR). The PRACH may transmit a random access preamble for establishing a connection with a cell.

[0178] In the present disclosure, downlink, uplink, etc. may be expressed without adding "link." Also, various channels may be expressed without adding "Physical" to the beginning.

[0179] In the wireless communication system 1, a synchronization signal (SS), a downlink reference signal (DL-RS), etc. may be transmitted. In the wireless communication system 1, as the DL-RS, a cell-specific reference signal (CRS), a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS), a demodulation reference signal (DMRS), a positioning reference signal (PRS), a phase tracking reference signal (PTRS), etc. may be transmitted.

[0180] The synchronization signal may be, for example, at least one of a Primary Synchronization Signal (PSS) and a Secondary Synchronization Signal (SSS). That is, each functional block may be realized using a single device that is physically or logically coupled, or may be realized using two or more physically or logically separated devices that are directly or indirectly connected (for example, using wires, wirelessly, etc.) and these multiple devices. The functional block may be realized by combining software with the single device or the multiple devices.

[0226] Here, the functions include, but are not limited to, judgment, determination, judgment, calculation, computation, processing, derivation, investigation, search, confirmation, reception, transmission, output, access, resolution, selection, election, establishment, comparison, assumption, expectation, deeming, broadcasting, notifying, communicating, forwarding, configuring, reconfiguring, allocating, mapping, and assignment. [0228] In the present disclosure, the terms apparatus, circuit, device, section, unit, etc. may be used interchangeably. The hardware configurations of the base station 10 and the user terminal 20 may be configured to include one or more of the devices shown in the drawings, or may be configured to exclude some of the devices.

[0229] For example, although only one processor 1001 is shown, there may be multiple processors. Furthermore, processor 1001 may be implemented by one or more chips.

[0230] Each function in the base station 10 and the user terminal 20 is realized, for example, by loading specified software (programs) onto hardware such as a processor 1001 and a memory 1002, causing the processor 1001 to perform calculations, control communication via the communication device 1004, and control at least one of reading and writing data in the memory 1002 and the storage 1003.

[0231] The processor 1001, for example, runs an operating system to control the entire computer. The processor 1001 may be configured as a central processing unit (CPU) including an interface with peripheral devices, a control device, an arithmetic unit, a register, etc. For example, at least a part of the above-mentioned control unit 110 (210), transceiver unit 120 (220), etc. may be realized by the processor 1001.

For example, the control unit 110 (210) may be implemented by a control program stored in the memory 1002 and running on the processor 1001, and the other functional blocks may be implemented in a similar manner.

[0233] The memory 1002 is a computer-readable recording medium and may be configured by at least one of, for example, Read Only Memory (ROM), Erasable Programmable ROM (EPROM), Electrically EEPROM (EEPROM), Random Access Memory (RAM), or other suitable storage medium. The memory 1002 may also be referred to as a register, cache, main memory, etc. The memory 1002 may store executable programs (program codes), software modules, etc. for implementing a wireless communication method according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0234] Storage 1003 is a computer-readable recording medium and may be composed of at least one of, for example, a flexible disk, a floppy disk, a magneto-optical disk (e.g., a compact disc (e.g., a Compact Disc ROM (CD-ROM)), a digital versatile disc, a Blu-ray disc), a removable disk, a hard disk drive, a smart card, a flash memory device (e.g., a card, a stick, a key drive), a magnetic stripe, a database, a server, or other suitable storage medium. Storage 1003 may also be referred to as an auxiliary storage device.

[0235] The communication device 1004 is hardware (transmission / reception device) for communicating between computers via at least one of a wired network and a wireless network, and is also referred to as, for example, a network device, a network controller, a network card, or a communication module. The communication device 1004 may be configured to include a high-frequency switch, a duplexer, a filter, a frequency synthesizer, etc. to realize at least one of frequency division duplex (FDD) and time division duplex (TDD). For example, the above-mentioned transmission / reception unit 120 (220), transmission / reception antenna 130 (230), etc. may be realized by the communication device 1004. The transmission / reception unit 120 (220) may be implemented as a transmission unit 120a (220a) and a reception unit 120b (220b) that are physically or logically separated.

[0236] The input device 1005 is an input device (e.g., a keyboard, a mouse, a microphone, a switch, a button, a sensor, etc.) that accepts input from the outside. The output device 1006 is an output device (e.g., a display, a speaker, a light emitting diode (LED) lamp, etc.) that outputs to the outside. Note that the input device 1005 and the output device 1006 may be integrated into one device (e.g., a touch panel).

[0237] Furthermore, each device, such as the processor 1001 and the memory 1002, is connected by a bus 1007 for communicating information. The bus 1007 may be configured using a single bus, or may be configured using different buses between each device.

For example, the processor 1001 may be implemented using at least one of these pieces of hardware.

[0239] In addition, the devices included in the core network 30 (for example, network nodes that provide NF) may also be realized by the above-mentioned functional block / hardware configuration.

[0240] (Modifications) Note that terms described in the present disclosure and terms necessary for understanding the present disclosure may be replaced with terms having the same or similar meanings. For example, a channel, a symbol, and a signal (signal or signaling) may be interchangeable. A signal may also be a message. A reference signal may be abbreviated as RS, and may also be called a pilot, pilot signal, etc. depending on the applicable standard. A component carrier (CC) may also be called a cell, frequency carrier, carrier frequency, etc.

[0241] A radio frame may be composed of one or more periods (frames) in the time domain. Each of the one or more periods (frames) constituting a radio frame may be called a subframe. Furthermore, a subframe may be composed of one or more slots in the time domain. A subframe may have a fixed time length (e.g., 1 ms) that is independent of numerology.

[0242] Here, the numerology may be a communication parameter applied to at least one of transmission and reception of a signal or channel, and may indicate at least one of, for example, Subcarrier Spacing (SCS), bandwidth, symbol length, cyclic prefix length, Transmission Time Interval (TTI), number of symbols per TTI, radio frame structure, specific filtering performed by a transceiver in the frequency domain, and specific windowing performed by a transceiver in the time domain.

[0243] A slot may be composed of one or more symbols (such as an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) symbol or a Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) symbol) in the time domain. A slot may also be a time unit based on numerology.

[0244] A slot may include multiple minislots. Each minislot may consist of one or multiple symbols in the time domain. A minislot may also be called a subslot. A minislot may consist of fewer symbols than a slot. A PDSCH (or PUSCH) transmitted in a time unit larger than a minislot may be called PDSCH (PUSCH) mapping type A. A PDSCH (or PUSCH) transmitted using a minislot may be called PDSCH (PUSCH) mapping type B.

[0245] A radio frame, a subframe, a slot, a minislot, and a symbol all represent time units for transmitting signals. The radio frame, the subframe, the slot, the minislot, and the symbol may be referred to by other names corresponding to the radio frame, the subframe, the slot, the minislot, and the symbol. Note that the time units such as a frame, a subframe, a slot, a minislot, and a symbol in the present disclosure may be interchangeable.

[0246] For example, one subframe may be referred to as a TTI, or multiple consecutive subframes may be referred to as a TTI, or one slot or one minislot may be referred to as a TTI. That is, at least one of the subframe and the TTI may be a subframe (1 ms) in existing LTE, a period shorter than 1 ms (for example, 1-13 symbols), or a period longer than 1 ms. Note that the unit representing the TTI may be called a slot, minislot, etc. instead of a subframe.

[0247] Here, TTI refers to, for example, the smallest time unit for scheduling in wireless communication. For example, in an LTE system, a base station performs scheduling to allocate radio resources (such as frequency bandwidth and transmission power that can be used by each user terminal) to each user terminal in TTI units. Note that the definition of TTI is not limited to this.

[0248] The TTI may be a transmission time unit for a channel-encoded data packet (transport block), a code block, a code word, etc., or may be a processing unit for scheduling, link adaptation, etc. When a TTI is given, the time interval (e.g., the number of symbols) to which a transport block, a code block, a code word, etc. is actually mapped may be shorter than the TTI.

[0249] When one slot or one minislot is called a TTI, one or more TTIs (i.e., one or more slots or one or more minislots) may be the minimum time unit for scheduling. Also, the number of slots (minislots) constituting the minimum time unit for scheduling may be controlled.

[0250] A TTI having a time length of 1 ms may be called a regular TTI (TTI in 3GPP Rel. 8-12), normal TTI, long TTI, regular subframe, normal subframe, long subframe, slot, etc. A TTI shorter than a regular TTI may be called a shortened TTI, short TTI, partial or fractional TTI, shortened subframe, short subframe, minislot, subslot, slot, etc.

[0251] In addition, a long TTI (e.g., a normal TTI, a subframe, etc.) may be interpreted as a TTI having a time length of more than 1 ms, and a short TTI (e.g., a shortened TTI, etc.) may be interpreted as a TTI having a TTI length shorter than the TTI length of a long TTI and greater than or equal to 1 ms.

[0252] A resource block (RB) is a resource allocation unit in the time domain and the frequency domain, and may include one or more consecutive subcarriers in the frequency domain. The number of subcarriers included in an RB may be the same regardless of numerology, for example, 12. The number of subcarriers included in an RB may be determined based on numerology.

[0253] In addition, an RB may include one or more symbols in the time domain and may have a length of one slot, one minislot, one subframe, or one TTI, each of which may be composed of one or more resource blocks.

[0254] In addition, one or more RBs may be referred to as a physical resource block (PRB), a sub-carrier group (SCG), a resource element group (REG), a PRB pair, an RB pair, etc.

[0255] Furthermore, a resource block may be composed of one or more resource elements (REs). For example, one RE may be a radio resource region of one subcarrier and one symbol.

[0256] A Bandwidth Part (BWP), which may also be referred to as a partial bandwidth, may represent a subset of contiguous common resource blocks (RBs) for a given numerology on a given carrier, where the common RBs may be identified by their index relative to a Common Reference Point of the carrier. PRBs may be defined in a BWP and numbered within the BWP.

[0257] The BWP may include a UL BWP (BWP for UL) and a DL BWP (BWP for DL). One or more BWPs may be configured for a UE within one carrier.

[0258] At least one of the configured BWPs may be active, and the UE may not expect to transmit or receive a given signal / channel outside the active BWP. Note that the terms "cell," "carrier," etc. in this disclosure may be read as "BWP."

[0259] The above-described structures of radio frames, subframes, slots, minislots, symbols, etc. are merely examples. For example, the number of subframes included in a radio frame, the number of slots per subframe or radio frame, the number of minislots included in a slot, the number of symbols and RBs included in a slot or minislot, the number of subcarriers included in an RB, the number of symbols in a TTI, the symbol length, the cyclic prefix (CP) length, etc. may be changed in various ways.

[0260] Furthermore, the information, parameters, etc. described in the present disclosure may be expressed using absolute values, may be expressed using relative values from a predetermined value, or may be expressed using other corresponding information. For example, a radio resource may be indicated by a predetermined index.

[0261] The names used for parameters and the like in this disclosure are not intended to be limiting in any way. Furthermore, the mathematical expressions and the like using these parameters may differ from those explicitly disclosed in this disclosure. The various channels (PUCCH, PDCCH, etc.) and information elements may be identified by any suitable names, and therefore the various names assigned to these various channels and information elements are not intended to be limiting in any way.

[0262] The information, signals, etc. described in this disclosure may be represented using any of a variety of different technologies. For example, data, instructions, commands, information, signals, bits, symbols, chips, etc. that may be referred to throughout the above description may be represented by voltages, currents, electromagnetic waves, magnetic fields or magnetic particles, optical fields or photons, or any combination thereof.

[0263] Furthermore, information, signals, etc. may be output from a higher layer to a lower layer and / or from a lower layer to a higher layer. Information, signals, etc. may be input / output via multiple network nodes.

[0264] Input and output information, signals, etc. may be stored in a specific location (for example, memory) or may be managed using a management table. Input and output information, signals, etc. may be overwritten, updated, or added. Output information, signals, etc. may be deleted. Input information, signals, etc. may be transmitted to another device.

[0265] With respect to any information (e.g., variables, constants, parameters) described in the present disclosure, even if not specifically stated in the above embodiments, any first device (e.g., UE / base station) may notify any second device (e.g., base station / UE) of information indicating / specifying (or relating to) the value of the any information.
