[0037] In some implementations of the BS described herein, the CSI report is received based on at least one of a first required time Z1 and a second required time Z1', wherein: in the case that the UE has a first capability associated with a first timeline, Z1 has a value of Z, and Z1' has a value of Z'; and in the case that the UE has a second capability associated with a second timeline: Z1 is determined based on Z plus an additional time ΔZ, and Z1' is determined based on Z' plus ΔZ, wherein ΔZ is equal to Z' or equal to a scaling factor multiplying Z or Z'; or Z1 is determined based on Z multiplying a scaling factor K, and Z1' is determined based on Z' multiplying K, wherein K is a number of CSI-RS resources which are aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with the first number of CSI-RS ports, or equal to ceil (P / T) , where P is the first number and T is a predefined value or a value reported by the UE based on the UE's capability.

[0038] In some implementations of the BS described herein, at least one processor is further configured to cause the BS to determine a number of CPUs OCPU, wherein: in the case that the UE has a first capability associated with a first timeline: OCPU = ceil (X*K) , wherein K is a number of CSI-RS resources which are aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with the first number of CSI-RS ports and X is a value from a set of values which is reported by the UE based on the UE's capability; OCPU = Y, wherein Y is a predefined value or a value reported by the UE based on the UE's capability; or OCPU = ceil (P / L) , wherein P is the first number and L is a predefined value or a value reported by the UE based on the UE's capability; and in the case that the UE has a second capability associated with a second timeline, OCPU = 1.

[0039] In some implementations of the BS described herein, the enhanced Type I codebook using the first number of CSI-RS ports is not configured for determining PMIs for NCJT.

[0054] The detailed description of the appended drawings is intended as a description of preferred embodiments of the present application and is not intended to represent the only form in which the present application may be practiced. It should be understood that the same or equivalent functions may be accomplished by different embodiments that are intended to be encompassed within the spirit and scope of the present application.

[0055] While operations are depicted in the drawings in a particular order, persons skilled in the art will readily recognize that such operations need not be performed in the particular order as shown or in a sequential order, or that all illustrated operations need be performed, to achieve desirable results; sometimes one or more operations can be skipped. Further, the drawings can schematically depict one or more example processes in the form of a flow diagram. However, other operations that are not depicted can be incorporated in the example processes that are schematically illustrated. For example, one or more additional operations can be performed before, after, simultaneously, or between any of the illustrated operations. In certain circumstances, multitasking and parallel processing can be advantageous.

[0056] Reference will now be made in detail to some embodiments of the present disclosure, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. To facilitate understanding, embodiments are provided under specific network architecture and service scenarios, such as 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) long-term evolution (LTE) and LTE advanced, 3GPP 5G new radio (NR) , 5G-Advanced, 6G, and so on. It is contemplated that along with developments of network architectures and new service scenarios, all embodiments in the present disclosure are also applicable to similar technical problems; and moreover, the terminologies recited in the present disclosure may change, which should not affect the principle of the present disclosure.

[0057] Aspects of the present disclosure are described in the context of a wireless communications system.

[0058] Figure 1 illustrates an example of a wireless communications system 100 in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The wireless communications system 100 may include one or more network equipments (NEs) (e.g., BSs) 102, one or more UEs 104, and a core network (CN) 106. The wireless communications system 100 may support various radio access technologies. In some implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be a 4G network, such as an LTE network or an LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network. In some other implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be an NR network, such as a 5G network, a 5G-Advanced (5G-A) network, or a 5G ultrawideband (5G-UWB) network. In other implementations, the wireless communications system 100 may be a combination of a 4G network and a 5G network, or other suitable radio access technology including Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 (Wi-Fi) , IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX) , IEEE 802.20. The wireless communications system 100 may support radio access technologies beyond 5G, for example, 6G. Additionally, the wireless communications system 100 may support technologies, such as time division multiple access (TDMA) , frequency division multiple access (FDMA) , or code division multiple access (CDMA) , etc.

[0059] The one or more NEs 102 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region to form the wireless communications system 100. One or more of the NEs 102 described herein may be or include or may be referred to as a network node, a base station, a network element, a network function, a network entity, a radio access network (RAN) , a NodeB, an eNodeB (eNB) , a next-generation NodeB (gNB) , or other suitable terminology. An NE 102 and a UE 104 may communicate via a communication link, which may be a wireless or wired connection. For example, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may perform wireless communication (e.g., receive signaling, transmit signaling) over a Uu interface.

[0060] An NE 102 may provide a geographic coverage area for which the NE 102 may support services for one or more UEs 104 within the geographic coverage area. For example, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may support wireless communication of signals related to services (e.g., voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc. ) according to one or multiple radio access technologies. In some implementations, an NE 102 may be moveable, for example, a  satellite associated with a non-terrestrial network (NTN) . In some implementations, different geographic coverage areas associated with the same or different radio access technologies may overlap, but the different geographic coverage areas may be associated with different NEs 102.

[0061] The one or more UEs 104 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region of the wireless communications system 100. A UE 104 may include or may be referred to as a remote unit, a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a subscriber device, a transmitter device, a receiver device, or some other suitable terminology. In some implementations, the UE 104 may be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, among other examples. Additionally, or alternatively, the UE 104 may be referred to as an Internet-of-Things (IoT) device, an Internet-of-Everything (IoE) device, or machine-type communication (MTC) device, among other examples.

[0062] A UE 104 may be able to support wireless communication directly with other UEs 104 over a communication link. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a device-to-device (D2D) communication link. In some implementations, such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) deployments, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) deployments, or cellular-V2X deployments, the communication link may be referred to as a sidelink. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a PC5 interface.

[0063] An NE 102 may support communications with the CN 106, or with another NE 102, or both. For example, an NE 102 may interface with other NE 102 or the CN 106 through one or more backhaul links (e.g., S1, N2, N3, or another network interface) . In some implementations, the NEs 102 may communicate with each other directly. In some other implementations, the NEs 102 may communicate with each other indirectly (e.g., via the CN 106) . In some implementations, one or more NEs 102 may include subcomponents, such as an access network entity, which may be an example of an access node controller (ANC) . An ANC may communicate with the one or more UEs 104 through one or more other access network transmission entities, which may be referred to as radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmission-reception points (TRPs) .

[0064] The CN 106 may support user authentication, access authorization, tracking, connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The CN 106 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) , or a 5G core (5GC) , which may include a control plane entity that manages access and mobility (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME) , an access and mobility management function (AMF) ) and a user plane entity that routes packets or interconnects to external networks (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW) , a Packet Data Network (PDN) gateway (P-GW) , or a user plane function (UPF) ) . In some implementations, the control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management (e.g., data bearers, signal bearers, etc. ) for the one or more UEs 104 served by the one or more NEs 102 associated with the CN 106.

[0065] The CN 106 may communicate with a packet data network over one or more backhaul links (e.g., via an S1, N2, N3, or another network interface) . The packet data network may include an application server. In some implementations, one or more UEs 104 may communicate with the application server. A UE 104 may establish a session (e.g., a protocol data unit (PDU) session, or the like) with the CN 106 via an NE 102. The CN 106 may route traffic (e.g., control information, data, and the like) between the UE 104 and the application server using the established session (e.g., the established PDU session) . The PDU session may be an example of a logical connection between the UE 104 and the CN 106 (e.g., one or more network functions of the CN 106) .

[0066] In the wireless communications system 100, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may use resources of the wireless communications system 100 (e.g., time resources (e.g., symbols, slots, subframes, frames, or the like) or frequency resources (e.g., subcarriers, carriers) ) to perform various operations (e.g., wireless communications) . In some implementations, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support different resource structures. For example, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support different frame structures. In some implementations, such as in 4G, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support a single frame structure. In some other implementations, such as in 5G and among other suitable radio access technologies, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures (e.g., multiple frame structures) . The NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures based on one or more numerologies.

[0067] One or more numerologies may be supported in the wireless communications system 100, and a numerology may include a subcarrier spacing and a cyclic prefix. A first numerology (e.g., μ=0) may be associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. In some implementations, the first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with the first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may utilize one slot per subframe. A second numerology (e.g., μ=1) may be associated with a second subcarrier spacing (e.g., 30 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A third numerology (e.g., μ=2) may be associated with a third subcarrier spacing (e.g., 60 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix or an extended cyclic prefix. A fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) may be associated with a fourth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 120 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A fifth numerology (e.g., μ=4) may be associated with a fifth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 240 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix.

[0068] A time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to frames (also referred to as radio frames) . Each frame may have a duration, for example, a 10 millisecond (ms) duration. In some implementations, each frame may include multiple subframes. For example, each frame may include 10 subframes, and each subframe may have a duration, for example, a 1 ms duration. In some implementations, each frame may have the same duration. In some implementations, each subframe of a frame may have the same duration.

[0069] Additionally or alternatively, a time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to slots. For example, a subframe may include a number (e.g., quantity) of slots. The number of slots in each subframe may also depend on the one or more numerologies supported in the wireless communications system 100. For instance, the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth numerologies (e.g., μ=0, μ=1, μ=2, μ=3, μ=4) associated with respective subcarrier spacings of 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, 120 kHz, and 240 kHz may utilize a single slot per subframe, two slots per subframe, four slots per subframe, eight slots per subframe, and 16 slots per subframe, respectively. Each slot may include a number (e.g., quantity) of symbols (e.g., orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols) . In some implementations, the number (e.g., quantity) of slots for a subframe may depend on a numerology. For a normal cyclic prefix, a slot may include 14 symbols. For an extended cyclic prefix (e.g., applicable for 60 kHz subcarrier spacing) , a slot may include 12 symbols. The  relationship between the number of symbols per slot, the number of slots per subframe, and the number of slots per frame for a normal cyclic prefix and an extended cyclic prefix may depend on a numerology. It should be understood that reference to a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may be used interchangeably between subframes and slots.

[0070] In the wireless communications system 100, an electromagnetic (EM) spectrum may be split, based on frequency or wavelength, into various classes, frequency bands, frequency channels, etc. By way of example, the wireless communications system 100 may support one or multiple operating frequency bands, such as frequency range designations FR1 (410 MHz –7.125 GHz) , FR2 (24.25 GHz –52.6 GHz) , FR3 (7.125 GHz –24.25 GHz) , FR4 (52.6 GHz –114.25 GHz) , FR4a or FR4-1 (52.6 GHz –71 GHz) , and FR5 (114.25 GHz –300 GHz) . In some implementations, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may perform wireless communications over one or more of the operating frequency bands. In some implementations, FR1 may be used by the NEs 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for cellular communications traffic (e.g., control information, data) . In some implementations, FR2 may be used by the NEs 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for short-range, high data rate capabilities.

[0071] FR1 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least three numerologies) . For example, FR1 may be associated with a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) , which includes 15 kHz subcarrier spacing; a second numerology (e.g., μ=1) , which includes 30 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing. FR2 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least 2 numerologies) . For example, FR2 may be associated with a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) , which includes 120 kHz subcarrier spacing.

[0072] With the development of communication technology, enhancements on downlink multiple input multiple output (MIMO) that facilitate the use of large antenna array, for both FR1 and FR2, are proposed to fulfil the demand for evolution of NR deployments, especially for 7GHz frequency band (s) . In the existing 5G system, the CSI-RS port is designed based on a maximum port number of 32. However, for the large antenna array, a larger number of CSI- RS ports (e.g., more than 32 ports) may be used to further increase beamforming gain, thereby improving the cell coverage and cell average / edge throughput, especially for implementation with full digital beamforming and hybrid beamforming. Herein, the terms "port, " "CSI-RS port, " "antenna port" and "CSI-RS antenna port" may be used interchangeably.

[0073] For transmitting CSI-RS with more than 32 CSI-RS ports, multiple legacy CSI-RS resources may be aggregated to generate an aggregated CSI-RS resource with more than 32 CSI-RS ports. For example, a number of the CSI-RS ports of the aggregated CSI-RS resource may be 48, 64, or 128.

[0074] Type I codebook (also referred to as Type-I codebook, Type 1 codebook or the like) may be used for single-user multiple-input multiple-output (SU-MIMO) scenarios. Type I codebook may include Type I single-panel (SP) codebook and Type I multi-panel (MP) codebook. A Type I codebook may be denoted by PMI values and may include codewords (i.e., precoding matrices) corresponding to the PMI values.

[0075] In the existing 5G system, e.g., 3GPP release 15 (Rel. 15) , Type Ⅰ codebook may be designed based on CSI-RS with a maximum port number of 32, e.g., based on CSI-RS with 4, 8, 12, 16, 24, or 32 CS-RS ports. Herein, such Type Ⅰ codebook with no more than 32 ports may be referred to as legacy Type I codebook.

[0076] However, in 3GPP release 19 (Rel. 19) , an enhanced Type I codebook may be designed to support CSI-RS with more than 32 CSI-RS ports (e.g., 48, 64 or 128 CSI-RS ports) . The enhanced Type I codebook may also be referred to as an enhanced Type-I (or Type 1) codebook, eType1 (or eType 1) codebook, Rel. 19 (or Rel-19 or R19) Type I (or Type-I or Type 1) codebook, Rel. 19 (or Rel-19 or R19) enhanced Type I (or Type-I or Type 1) codebook, Rel. 19 (or Rel-19 or R19) eType1 (or eType 1) codebook, or the like.

[0077] The enhanced Type I codebook may include enhanced Type I single panel (SP) codebook and enhanced Type I multi-panel (MP) codebook. The enhanced Type I SP codebook may support two schemes, i.e., scheme A and scheme B, which may be different according to different rank numbers.

[0078] As an example, for Rel-19 Type I SP codebook for 48, 64, and 128 CSI-RS ports, for rank indication (RI) =1-4, the followings are supported:

[0079] ● Scheme A (based on Scheme1 in RAN1#116 agreement) : Adding new (N1, N2) values for the Rel-15 Type-I single-panel codebook mode-1 (L=1) where 2N1N2 (>32) is the total number of CSI-RS ports across aggregated non-zero power (NZP) CSI-RS resources, and for rank-3 / 4, follow legacy mechanisms for <16 ports.

[0080] ● Scheme B (based on Scheme2 in RAN1#116 agreement) : Adding new (N1, N2) values where 2N1N2 (>32) is the total number of CSI-RS ports across aggregated NZP CSI-RS resources, and

[0081] ○ W1 structure:

[0082] ■ For each layer, reuse legacy Rel-16 eType-II spatial domain (SD) basis with L=1 to determine the DFT-based SD basis candidates.

[0083] ■ For 1<RI≤4, L=1 SD basis vector is independently selected for different layers.

[0084] ● The SD basis selection indication includes layer-common (q1, q2) and bits for each layer.

[0085] ● Note: This implies that each of the SD basis vectors is selected from a group of N1N2 orthogonal basis vectors.

[0086] ○ W2 structure: Layer-specific inter-polarization co-phasing with the alphabet {+1, +j, -1, -j} .

[0087] As another example, for Rel-19 Type I SP codebook for 48, 64, and 128 CSI-RS ports, for RI=5-8, the followings are supported:

[0088] ● The same O1=O2 value (s) as RI=1-4 are supported.

[0089] ● Scheme A (based on Scheme3 described in RAN1#116bis) :

[0090] ○ W1 structure:

[0091] ■ The 1st SD basis vector is freely selected and subsequent 2 (RI=5-6) or 3 SD basis vectors (RI=7-8) are freely selected such that they are orthogonal in at least one dimension (horizontal or vertical) .

[0092] ■ The v layers are mapped to the selected SD basis vectors following legacy Rel-15 Type-I for RI=5-8.

[0093] ○ W2 structure:

[0094] ■ Following legacy Rel-15 Type-I RI=5-8

[0095] ● Scheme B (based on Scheme2 described in RAN1#116bis) :

[0096] ○ W1 structure:

[0097] ■ Independent selection of different ceil (v / 2) SD basis vectors for RI = v, where each SD basis vector is applied to two respective layers following legacy Rel-15 Type-I for RI=5-8, except that, if v is odd, the last SD basis vector is applied to the orphan layer.

[0098] ● FFS: mapping between the orphan layer and its selected SD basis vector and, if needed, UE reporting of the selection.

[0099] ● FFS: support of 4 selected SD basis vectors for RI=5-6.

[0100] ■ The SD basis vectors are freely selected from a group of N1N2 orthogonal SD DFT basis vectors via combinatorial indication, as well as a layer-common (q1, q2) .

[0101] ○ W2 structure:

[0102] ■ For the orphan layer, the inter-polarization co-phasing is selected from {1, j, -1, -j} .

[0103] ■ For two layers sharing a same SD basis vector, the inter-polarization co-phasing between two layers is selected from the following pairs { (1, -1) , (j, -j) } to achieve inter-layer orthogonality.

[0104] In addition, for Rel-19 Type-I MP codebook for 48, 64, and 128 CSI-RS ports, for RI=1-4, the followings are supported:

[0105] ● W1 structure: Independent SD basis selection across all the Ng=K NZP CSI-RS resources, reusing legacy Rel-15 Type-I Pcsi-rs<16 SP SD basis selection rules with L=1 for RI=1-4.

[0106] ○ Ng = K = {2, 4} denotes the number of NZP CSI-RS resources associated with the Ng panels.

[0107] ● W2 structure:

[0108] ○ Legacy Rel-15 Type-I inter-polarization co-phasing rules independently in each resource,

[0109] ○ Layer-common wideband inter-resource QPSK co-phasing independently reported for resource n = 2, …, K with respect to the first resource.

[0110] Rel-19 Type-I MP codebook does not support RI=5-8.

[0111] In RAN1 #118b meeting, it was proposed to extend the aforementioned scheme A and scheme B for R19 enhanced Type 1 codebook to the legacy number of CSI-RS ports, i.e., no more than 32 ports (for example, 4, 8, 12, 16, 24, or 32 ports) for all applicable RI values (1, …, min (PCSI-RS, 8) ) , wherein PCSI-RS is the number of CSI-RS ports. In some cases, a CSI-RS resource with no more than 32 ports may also be generated by aggregating multiple legacy CSI-RS resources. However, the details regarding how to support CSI reporting based on an enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports have not been discussed yet.

[0112] Embodiments of the present disclosure provide solutions for supporting CSI reporting based on an enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports. For example, some embodiments of the present disclosure provide restriction schemes for CSI reporting based on an enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports, wherein the restriction schemes may be designed based on a tradeoff between potential performance gain, CSI reporting overhead and UE realization complexity. Some embodiments of the present disclosure provide solutions regarding UE's capability reporting for supporting CSI reporting with an enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports. Some embodiments  of the present disclosure provide solutions regarding the required time and CPU number for CSI reporting with an enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports. Some embodiments of the present disclosure provide solutions regarding how to support CSI reporting for NCJT with an enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports. More details will be described in the following text in combination with the appended drawings.

[0113] In general, an enhanced Type I SP codebook with more than 32 ports and an enhanced Type I MP codebook with more than 32 ports can be extended to no more than 32 ports based on well-designed codebook structure or framework. However, additional CSI report overhead and realization complexity may be introduced for an enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 ports relative to legacy Type 1 codebook. To achieve a better tradeoff between the performance benefit, CSI reporting overhead and UE realization complexity, some restrictions may be designed for CSI reporting based on an enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0114] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, a UE may receive, from an NE (e.g., a BS) , a CSI report configuration. The CSI report configuration may include a codebook configuration for an enhanced Type I codebook. For example, the codebook configuration may be CodebookConfig-r19. The UE may determine a PMI based on the enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports according to a restriction scheme. Then, the UE may transmit a CSI report including the determined PMI. Details regarding the restriction scheme will be described in the following Embodiment 1.

[0115] Embodiment 1

[0116] Embodiment 1 may include Embodiment 1-1, Embodiment 1-2, and Embodiment 1-3, wherein Embodiment 1-1 provides restriction schemes for CSI reporting based on an enhanced Type I SP codebook using no more than 32 ports, Embodiment 1-2 provides restriction schemes for CSI reporting based on an enhanced Type I MP codebook using no more than 32 ports, and Embodiment 1-3 provides restriction schemes on configuration of CSI-RS resources in a CSI-RS resource set for channel measurement for CSI reporting. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the restriction schemes provided in Embodiment 1-1, Embodiment 1-2, and Embodiment 1-3 may be implemented separately or in combination.

[0117] Embodiment 1-1

[0118] In Embodiment 1-1, the restriction scheme may include restriction (s) made on at least one of an antenna port number, an enhanced Type I codebook design scheme (e.g., scheme A or scheme B) , or a rank number. Embodiment 1-1 may include solution 1-1A, solution 1-1B, and solution 1-1C which provide different restriction schemes for CSI reporting based on an enhanced Type I SP codebook using no more than 32 ports. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the restriction schemes provided in solution 1-1A, solution 1-1B, and solution 1-1C may be implemented separately or in combination.

[0119] Solution 1-1A

[0120] In solution 1-1A, it is assumed that the optimized design has been already made for codebook with smaller numbers of antenna ports and it is difficult to achieve much performance gain for an enhanced Type I SP codebook using no more than 32 ports relative to legacy Type I SP codebook.

[0121] In solution 1-1A, the restriction scheme may include a restriction on an antenna port number. For example, the restriction scheme may be that: when a codebook configuration (e.g., denoted by an information element (IE) , CodebookConfig-r19) for an enhanced Type I codebook is configured, an enhanced Type I SP codebook can be used for CSI reporting using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports only when the number of CSI-RS ports is larger than a value. The value may be predefined or specified. As an example, the value may be 8. In such example, when the number of CSI-RS ports is larger than 8 (e.g., 12, 16, 24, or 32) , an enhanced Type I SP codebook can be used for CSI reporting; for the cases that the number of CSI-RS ports is no larger than 8 (e.g., 2, 4, or 8) , legacy Type I SP codebook is used for CSI reporting. As another example, the value may be 16. In such example, when the number of CSI-RS ports is larger than 16 (e.g., 24 or 32) , an enhanced Type I SP codebook can be used for CSI reporting; for the cases that the number of CSI-RS ports is no larger than 16 (e.g., 2, 4, 8, 12, or 16) , legacy Type I SP codebook is used for CSI reporting.

[0122] In solution 1-1A, according to the restriction scheme, the UE may determine the PMI based on an enhanced Type I single panel codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports only when the number of CSI-RS ports is larger than a value.

[0123] Solution 1-1B

[0124] As stated above, for enhanced Type I SP codebook with more than 32 ports, scheme A and scheme B can be used, where scheme A is made based on extension from legacy Type I SP codebook and scheme B is optimized with free selection of beams for different layer pairs and layer specific inter-polarization co-phasing. Compared with scheme A, the performance gain from scheme B is larger although it brings larger CSI reporting overhead and UE computation complexity.

[0125] Accordingly, in solution 1-1B, the restriction scheme may include a restriction on an enhanced Type I codebook design scheme (e.g., scheme A or scheme B) . For example, the restriction scheme may be that: when a codebook configuration (e.g., denoted by CodebookConfig-r19) for an enhanced Type I codebook is configured, only an enhanced Type I SP codebook with scheme B can be used for CSI reporting using no more than 32 ports. In other words, the UE does not expect that the enhanced Type I SP codebook with scheme A is configured in CodebookConfig-r19 for CSI reporting using no more than 32 ports. In summary, the UE may use legacy Type I SP codebook for CSI reporting using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports if legacy Type I SP codebook is configured or use enhanced Type I SP codebook with scheme B for CSI reporting using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports if CodebookConfig-r19 is configured.

[0126] In solution 1-1B, according to the restriction scheme, the UE may determine the PMI based on an enhanced Type I single panel codebook with scheme B in the case that an enhanced Type I single panel codebook is configured for CSI reporting using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0127] Solution 1-1C

[0128] For enhanced Type I SP codebook, optimization may be made on enhanced Type I SP codebook with RI=5-8, wherein beams can be freely selected for different layer pairs. In this way, it can provide better flexibility for beam selection relative to legacy Type I codebook although it brings larger CSI overhead from beam selection bits for different layer pairs and larger UE realization complexity.

[0129] Accordingly, in solution 1-1C, the restriction scheme may include a restriction on a maximum rank number. For example, the restriction scheme may be that: when a codebook configuration (e.g., denoted by CodebookConfig-r19) for an enhanced Type I codebook is configured, an enhanced Type I SP codebook with scheme A can be used for CSI reporting using no more than 32 ports only when a maximum rank number for CSI reporting is larger than 4 (i.e., a maximum RI is larger than 4) . In other words, the UE does not expect that the enhanced Type I SP codebook with scheme A is configured in CodebookConfig-r19 for CSI report using no more than 32 ports if the maximum RI is no larger than 4.

[0130] In solution 1-1C, according to the restriction scheme, the UE may determine the PMI based on an enhanced Type I single panel codebook with scheme A using no more than 32 ports only when a maximum rank number for CSI reporting is larger than 4.

[0131] Although solutions 1-1A, 1-1B, and 1-1C are described separately, some combinations of restriction schemes provided in solution 1-1A, solution 1-1B, and solution 1-1C are also reasonable extension schemes. For example, the restriction scheme may be that: an enhanced Type I codebook is used only when the number of CSI-RS ports is 16, 24 or 32 and the PMI is determined based on only an enhanced Type I codebook with scheme B.

[0132] Embodiment 1-2

[0133] In RAN1 #118b meeting, for a large antenna array with more than 32 ports, e.g. 48, 64, 128 ports, it was agreed only to support one eType1 MP codebook for RI=1-4, wherein independent SD basis are selected across all the NZP CSI-RS resources which are aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with more than 32 ports. For a smaller number of antenna ports, such as 8, 16, or 32, the slight performance gain may be achieved by flexible beam selection per panel. More specifically, the performance gain may be not obvious because the probability of selecting different beams for different panels becomes smaller on account of a larger beam width caused by a smaller antenna port number. In addition, it may also increase CSI report overhead on account of indicating multiple selected beams and increase UE's realization complexity.

[0134] Based on the above analysis, Embodiment 1-2 may include solution 1-2A and solution 1-2B which provide different restriction schemes for CSI reporting based on an enhanced Type I MP codebook using no more than 32 ports.

[0135] Solution 1-2A

[0136] In solution 1-2A, it is assumed that there is no much performance gain for CSI reporting based on an enhanced Type I MP codebook using no more than 32 ports.

[0137] Accordingly, in solution 1-2A, the restriction scheme may be that: an enhanced Type I MP codebook is not used for CSI reporting using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports. In other words, the UE does not expect that a codebook type (e.g., denoted by codebookType) in the codebook configuration (e.g., denoted by CodebookConfig-r19) for an enhanced Type I codebook is configured as an enhanced Type I MP codebook (e.g., denoted by typeI-MultiPanel) in case of an aggregated CSI-RS resource with no more than 32 ports.

[0138] In solution 1-2A, according to the restriction scheme, the PMI is never determined based on an enhanced Type I multi-panel codebook using no more than 32 ports.

[0139] Solution 1-2B

[0140] In solution 1-2B, it is assumed that performance gain may be obtained by using an enhanced Type I MP codebook for CSI reporting with no more than 32 ports in some scenarios, e.g., a scenario with a plentiful of scatters. In such scenarios, the UE can be flexibly configured with codebookType in CodebookConfig-r19 as typeI-MultiPanel in case of no more than 32 ports.

[0141] In solution 1-2B, the restriction scheme may include a restriction on an antenna port number, which is similar to solution 1-1A. For example, the restriction scheme may be that: when a codebook configuration (e.g., CodebookConfig-r19) for an enhanced Type I codebook is configured, an enhanced Type I MP codebook can be used for CSI reporting using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports only when the number of CSI-RS ports is larger than a value. The value may be predefined or specified. As an example, the value may be 8. In such example, when the number of CSI-RS ports is larger than 8 (e.g., 12, 16, 24, or 32) , an enhanced Type I MP codebook can be used for CSI reporting; for the cases that the number of CSI-RS ports is no larger than 8 (e.g., 2, 4, or 8) , legacy Type I MP codebook may be used for CSI reporting. As another example, the value may be 12. In such example, when the number of CSI-RS ports is larger than 12 (e.g., 16, 24, or 32) , an enhanced Type I MP codebook can be used for CSI  reporting; for the cases that the number of CSI-RS ports is no larger than 12 (e.g., 2, 4, 8, or 12) , legacy Type I MP codebook may be used for CSI reporting.

[0142] In solution 1-2B, according to the restriction scheme, the UE may determine the PMI based on an enhanced Type I multi-panel codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports only when the number of CSI-RS ports is larger than a value.

[0143] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, in addition to the restriction schemes on application of an enhanced Type I codebook for CSI reporting using no more than 32 ports, some restrictions may also be made for configuration of CSI-RS resources in a CSI-RS resource set for chancel measurement if a CSI-RS resource in the CSI-RS resource set with no more than 32 ports is aggregated by multiple CSI-RS resources. The following Embodiment 1-3 provide some restriction schemes for configuring CSI-RS resources in a CSI-RS resource set for chancel measurement.

[0144] Embodiment 1-3

[0145] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the CSI-RS for channel measurement may be determined based on either one legacy CSI resource with no more than 32 ports or multiple legacy CSI-RS resources aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with no more than 32 ports. In Embodiment 1-3, the CSI report configuration may indicate a CSI-RS resource set for channel measurement, and the CSI-RS resource set may include multiple CSI-RS resources which are aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports. In such cases, the UE expects that the multiple CSI-RS resources are included in a same slot. With this restriction, it can reduce the maximum transmission time of CSI-RS (from a maximum of 2 slots to 1 slot) . Thus, it can improve channel estimation accuracy and reduce the system impact, e.g. without requiring two adjacent downlink slots for CSI-RS transmission.

[0146] In some examples of Embodiment 1-3, the CSI-RS resource with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports may be limited to be generated by aggregating a smaller number of CSI-RS resources. For example, a CSI-RS resource with 16 ports may be generated by aggregating 2 CSI-RS resources with 8 ports, and may not be generated by aggregating 4 CSI-RS resources with 4 ports; a CSI-RS resource with 32 ports may be generated by aggregating 2 CSI-RS resources with 16 ports, and may not be generated by aggregating 4 CSI-RS resources with 8  ports or 8 CSI-RS resources with 4 ports; a CSI-RS resource with 12 ports may be generated by aggregating 3 CSI-RS resources with 4 ports; a CSI-RS resource with 24 ports may be generated by aggregating 3 CSI-RS resources with 8 ports, and may not be generated by aggregating 6 CSI-RS resources with 4 ports.

[0147] According to some embodiments of the present application, the UE may report capability information associated with CSI reporting based on an enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 ports. The following Embodiment 2 provides the specific capability information associated with CSI reporting based on an enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 ports.

[0148] Embodiment 2

[0149] Embodiment 2 may include Embodiment 2-1, Embodiment 2-2, and Embodiment 2-3, wherein Embodiment 2-1 relates to capability information reporting on codebook scheme type (e.g., scheme A or scheme B) and / or antenna port number, Embodiment 2-2 relates to capability information reporting on a maximum number of transmitting ports per report, and Embodiment 2-3 relates to capability information reporting on mixed codebook combination (s) in a slot. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the solutions provided in Embodiment 2-1, Embodiment 2-2, and Embodiment 2-3 may be implemented separately or in combination.

[0150] Embodiment 2-1

[0151] In Embodiment 2-1, four kinds of UE features may be introduced for CSI reporting based on an enhanced Type I codebook that may be extended to no more than 32 ports, which include CSI reporting based on scheme A with more than 32 ports, CSI reporting based on scheme A with no more than 32 ports, CSI reporting based on scheme B with more than 32 ports, and CSI reporting based on scheme B with no more than 32 ports. The UE may report, to a BS, its supported capability (or capabilities) related to these features.

[0152] Embodiment 2-1 may include the following solution 2-1A and solution 2-1B, which provide different solutions for reporting the UE's supported capability (or capabilities) related to the aforementioned features.

[0153] Solution 2-1A

[0154] In solution 2-1A, the UE may transmit capability information indicating whether to support scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports, scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports, scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports, or scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports. In other words, if one or more of the aforementioned features are supported, the UE may transmit capability information indicating the one or more supported features, respectively. For example, the capability information may indicate one or more of {eType1 scheme A with more than 32 ports} , {eType 1 scheme A with no more than 32 ports} , {eType 1 scheme B with more than 32 ports} , or {eType 1 scheme B with no more than 32 ports} .

[0155] Solution 2-1B

[0156] In solution 2-1B, the UE may transmit at least one of first capability information or second capability information. The first capability information may indicate whether to support at least one of scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook or scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook. The second capability information may indicate whether to support at least one of an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports or an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports

[0157] According to some examples of solution 2-1B, supporting scheme A may be a prerequisite condition for supporting scheme B since scheme A with more than 32 ports should be used in deployment firstly and it is a basic feature.

[0158] In such examples, the reported capability may be restricted to supporting scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook only, or supporting both scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook and scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook. That is, the first capability information may indicate whether to support scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook only, or support both scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook and scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook.

[0159] According to some other examples of solution 2-1B, supporting of an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 ports may be a prerequisite condition for supporting an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 ports because it is assumed that the motivation for an  enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 is not so strong and it may be deployed with a lower priority.

[0160] In such examples, the reported capability may be restricted to supporting an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports only, or supporting both an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports and an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports. That is, the second capability information may indicate whether to support an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports only, or support both an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports and an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0161] According to some other examples of solution 2-1B, supporting scheme B may be a prerequisite condition for supporting an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 ports. Thus, the reported capability on codebook scheme type should be restricted to supporting scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook only or supporting both scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook and scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook if the reported capability on antenna port number is an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports or an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports and an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0162] That is, in the case that the second capability information indicates that an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports is supported (i.e., indicates supporting an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports only or supporting both an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports and an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports) , the first capability information indicates whether to support scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook only, or support both scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook and scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook.

[0163] In Embodiment 2-1, the legacy Type I codebook is a mandatory feature and should be supported by the UE. When all the aforementioned features are not supported by the UE, the UE may perform CSI reporting based on legacy Type I codebook.

[0164] Embodiment 2-2

[0165] In RAN1#118b meeting, it was agreed to change a parameter indicating a maximum number of transmitting ports per resource (e.g., denoted by maxNumberTxPortsPerResource) in the existing 5G system to a parameter indicating a maximum number of transmitting ports per report (e.g., denoted by maxNumberTxPortsPerReport) for Rel-19 codebook triplet capability (e.g., {maxNumberTxPortsPerResource, modes, maxNumberCSI-RS-PerResourceSet} ) .

[0166] When the UE supports both enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 ports and enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 ports, the UE may transmit capability information indicating a maximum number of transmitting ports per report.

[0167] According to some examples of Embodiment 2-2, the capability information may include both a first value indicating a maximum number of transmitting ports per report for an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports, and a second value indicating a maximum number of transmitting ports per report for an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0168] According to some other examples of Embodiment 2-2, the capability information may indicate a maximum number of transmitting ports per report for an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports only. In such examples, a maximum number of transmitting ports per report for an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports has a default value of 32.

[0169] Embodiment 2-3

[0170] For mixed codebook types, the UE may report supported mixed codebook combination (s) in a slot. As an example, a maximum number of supported mixed codebook combinations in a slot is 4. For 3GPP release 16 (Rel. 16) CSI report, codebooks in each mixed codebook combination are selected from a set of codebooks including Type 1 SP codebook, Type 2 codebook, enhanced Type 2 codebook with R=1, enhanced Type 2 codebook with R=2, Type 2 codebook with port selection, and Type 1 MP codebook. For example, the set of codebooks may be configured by a parameter CodebookComboParameter as specified in 3GPP standard documents, e.g., TS 38.306.

[0171] For Rel. 19, additional codebooks such as enhanced Type I SP codebook or enhanced Type I MP codebook may be introduced into the set of codebooks. Considering to extend an enhanced Type I SP codebook and an enhanced Type I MP codebook to CSI reporting with no more than 32 ports, the additional codebooks may include at least one of an enhanced Type I SP codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports, an enhanced Type I SP codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports, an enhanced Type I MP codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports, or an enhanced Type I MP codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports (if introduced) .

[0172] In such embodiments, the UE may transmit capability information indicating supported mixed codebook combination (s) in a slot, wherein codebooks in each mixed codebook combination may be selected from a set of codebooks including at least one of an enhanced Type I SP codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports, an enhanced Type I SP codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports, an enhanced Type I MP codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports, or an enhanced Type I MP codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0173] As an example, additional mixed codebook combinations may be derived based on legacy mixed codebook combinations with changing Type 1 SP codebook to enhanced Type I SP codebook with no more than 32 ports or enhanced Type I SP codebook with more than 32 ports or with changing Type 1 MP codebook to enhanced Type I MP codebook with more than 32 ports or enhanced Type I MP codebook with no more than 32 ports.

[0174] For example, a parameter codebookComboParametersAddition-r16 may be used to indicate the mixed codebook combinations and the corresponding parameters supported by the UE. For mixed codebook types, the UE may report supported active CSI-RS resources and ports for up to 4 mixed codebook combinations in any slot. As an example, a possible mixed codebook combination may be {Type 1 Single Panel, Type 2, Null} . For Rel. 19, a parameter codebookComboParametersAddition-r19 may be used to indicate the mixed codebook combinations and the corresponding parameters supported by the UE. As an example, the newly introduced possible mixed codebook combination may be {eType 1 Single Panel with more than 32 ports, Type 2, Null} or {eType 1 Single Panel with no more than 32 ports, Type 2, Null} .

[0175] Embodiment 3

[0176] Embodiment 3 provides solutions regarding the required time (e.g., CSI computation time) and CPU number for CSI reporting with an enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports. Embodiment 3 may include Embodiment 3-1 and Embodiment 3-2, wherein Embodiment 3-1 provides solutions for determining the required time (e.g., CSI computation time) for CSI reporting with an enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports, and Embodiment 3-2 provides solutions for determining the CPU number for CSI reporting with an enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the solutions provided in Embodiment 3-1 and Embodiment 3-2 may be implemented separately or in combination.

[0177] Embodiment 3-1

[0178] In the existing 5G system, the required time for CSI reporting (e.g., CSI computation time) based on Type I codebook with no more than 32 ports may be defined by a pair of parameters, i.e., Z and Z', where Z is used to define the minimum time from the end of the last symbol of the physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) triggering the CSI report (s) to the first uplink symbol to carry the corresponding CSI report (s) (e.g., the first symbol of the physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) for CSI reporting) , and Z' is used to define the minimum time from the end of the last symbol in time of the latest of (1) aperiodic CSI-RS resource for channel measurements, (2) aperiodic CSI-IM resource used for interference measurements, and (3) aperiodic NZP CSI-RS resource for interference measurement to the first uplink symbol to carry the n-th CSI report including the effect of the timing advance. The values of Z and Z' may be defined in TS 38.214.

[0179] For an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 ports, two UE capabilities associated with timeline for CSI reporting may be introduced, which may be denoted as a first capability (i.e., capability 1) and a second capability (i.e., capability 2) , respectively. Capability 1 may be associated with a first timeline for CSI reporting. Capability 2 may be associated with a second timeline for CSI reporting. The second timeline may be looser than the first timeline. In some cases, the first timeline may be referred to as a tight timeline and the second timeline may be referred to as a loose timeline. For the UE with capability 1, the required time may reuse values of Z and Z' for Type I codebook with no more than 32 ports. For the UE with capability 2, the required time may be determined by scaling the legacy values of Z and Z' by  ceil (P / 32) , wherein P is the total number of ports across all the CSI-RS resources which are aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with more than 32 ports (i.e., the number of CSI-RS ports of the CSI-RS resource with more than 32 ports) .

[0180] When an enhanced Type I codebook is extended for CSI reporting using no more than 32 ports (i.e., the value of P is no more than 32) , according to some embodiments of the present application, the required time may reuse the legacy values of Z and Z', because ceil (P / 32) falls back to a value of 1 even for loose timeline.

[0181] However, when the UE's computation complexity for determining multiple beams for layer pairs and layer specific inter-polarization co-phasing is considered, the timeline with reusing legacy values of Z and Z' may be tight for some UEs with lower processing capability. Given this, the following solutions 3A and 3B provide two different solutions for determining the required time for CSI reporting based on an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 ports.

[0182] Solution 3A

[0183] In solution 3A, the CSI report may be transmitted based on at least one of a first required time Z1 and a second required time Z1'.

[0184] In the case that the UE has the aforementioned capability 1, Z1 may have a value of Z (e.g., reusing the legacy value of Z) , and Z1' may have a value of Z' (e.g., reusing the legacy value of Z') .

[0185] In the case that the UE has the aforementioned capability 2, Z1 may be determined based on Z plus an additional time ΔZ, and Z1' may be determined based on Z' plus ΔZ. In some examples, ΔZ may be equal to Z' or equal to a scaling factor (e.g., 0.5 or 0.8) multiplying Z or Z'.

[0186] Solution 3B

[0187] In solution 3B, the CSI report may be transmitted based on at least one of a first required time Z1 and a second required time Z1'.

[0188] In the case that the UE has the aforementioned capability 1, Z1 may have a value of Z (e.g., reusing the legacy value of Z) , and Z1' may have a value of Z' (e.g., reusing the legacy value of Z') .

[0189] In the case that the UE has the aforementioned capability 2, Z1 may be determined based on Z multiplying a scaling factor K, and Z1' may be determined based on Z' multiplying K. In some examples, K is a number of CSI-RS resources which are aggregated to generate the CSI-RS resource with no more than 32 ports. In some other embodiments, K may be equal to ceil (P / T) , where P is the number of CSI-RS ports of the CSI-RS resource with no more than 32 ports, and T is a predefined value (e.g., 8) or a value reported by the UE based on the UE's capability.

[0190] Embodiment 3-2

[0191] In Embodiment 3-2, the UE may determine a number of CPUs (e.g., denoted by OCPU) for CSI reporting.

[0192] For CSI reporting based on an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 ports, when the UE has the aforementioned capability 1, OCPU is ceil (P / 32) , wherein P is the total number of ports across all the K aggregated CSI-RS resources which are aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with more than 32 ports (i.e., the number of CSI-RS ports of the CSI-RS resource with more than 32 ports) . When the UE has the aforementioned capability 2, OCPU is 1.

[0193] When an enhanced Type I codebook is extended for CSI reporting using no more than 32 ports (i.e., the value P is no more than 32) , according to some embodiments of the present application, OCPU may be 1 because ceil (P / 32) falls back to a value of 1 even for tight timeline.

[0194] However, when the UE's computation complexity for determining multiple beams for layer pairs and layer specific inter-polarization co-phasing is considered, a larger OCPU may be used. Given this, several different solutions for determining OCPU for CSI reporting based on an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 ports are provided below.

[0195] In some embodiments, in the case that the UE has the aforementioned capability 2, OCPU = 1.

[0196] In some embodiments, in the case that the UE has the aforementioned capability 1, OCPU = ceil (X*K) , wherein K is a number of CSI-RS resources which are aggregated to generate the CSI-RS resource with no more than 32 ports and X is a value reported by the UE based on the UE's capability. As an example, X may be a value from a set of values, e.g., the set of values may be {1, 1.5, 2} .

[0197] In some embodiments, in the case that the UE has the aforementioned capability 1, OCPU = Y, wherein Y is a predefined value or a value reported by the UE based on the UE's capability.

[0198] In some embodiments, in the case that the UE has the aforementioned capability 1, OCPU = ceil (P / L) , wherein P is the number of CSI-RS ports of the CSI-RS resource with no more than 32 ports, and L is a predefined value (e.g., 8) or a value reported by the UE based on the UE's capability.

[0199] To support NCJT in 3GPP release 17 (Rel. 17) , a CSI-RS resource set (e.g., denoted by an IE NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSet) for channel measurement may be configured with Ks ≥ 2 resources. In addition, a grouping and paring parameter may also configure two resource groups (e.g., resource group 1 and resource group 2) and N resource pairs. Group 1 may include K1 ≥ 1 resources and group 2 may include K2 ≥ 1 resources, wherein K1 + K2 = Ks. Each resource in the CSI-RS resource set may contain, subject to the UE's capability, at most 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0200] In Rel. 19, an enhanced codebook with no more than 32 ports may be introduced. Given this, it is possible to determine PMI (s) corresponding to single TRP (s) and / or PMIs for multiple TRPs with NCJT based on legacy Type I codebook or enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 ports. Given this, the following Embodiment 4 provides solutions regarding CSI reporting for NCJT based on enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 ports.

[0201] Embodiment 4

[0202] Two possible schemes can be used for specifying the codebook used for CSI reporting for NCJT. Thus, Embodiment 4 may include Embodiment 4-1 and Embodiment 4-2, which correspond to the two schemes, respectively.

[0203] Embodiment 4-1

[0204] In Embodiment 4-1, the enhanced Type I codebook (e.g., enhanced Type I SP codebook) using no more than 32 ports is not used to determine PMI (s) for NCJT. In other words, the enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports is not expected to be configured for determining PMIs for NCJT.

[0205] As an example, the UE does not expect that enhanced Type I codebook is configured as a codebook type (e.g., denoted by an IE codebookType) for CSI reporting when a codebook configuration for NCJT (e.g., denoted by an IE CodebookConfig-r17) includes Type I single panel group 1 (e.g., denoted by an IE typeI-SinglePanel-Group1-r17) and / or Type I single panel group 1 (e.g., denoted by an IE typeI-SinglePanel-Group2-r17) .

[0206] Embodiment 4-2

[0207] In Embodiment 4-2, both the enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports and the legacy Type I codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports can be used for determining PMIs for NCJT.

[0208] In some examples, to support CSI reporting for NCJT based on enhanced Type I codebook, the CSI report configuration may indicate a CSI-RS resource set for channel measurement, the CSI-RS resource set may include at least one resource subset in a first resource group (e.g., the aforementioned resource group 1) , a second resource group (e.g., the aforementioned resource group 2) or a resource pair. Each subset may include multiple CSI-RS resources which are aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports. For example, each resource pair may include two CSI-RS resource subsets (i.e., each resource in the pair may include a CSI-RS resource subset) . In this way, a same codebook type may be used to determine multiple PMIs for multiple TRPs for NCJT. For example, the same codebook type may be either the enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports or the legacy Type I codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0209] To determine CSI-RS resource indicator (CRI) , the CSI-RS resource subset may be seen as a unified CSI-RS resource and the CRI may be determined in a manner similar to the legacy scheme for NCJT.

[0210] In some examples, since an enhanced Type I codebook with mode A is a basic feature for R19 CSI enhancement, it is better to restrict that only scheme A of the enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports is used for determining PMIs for NCJT for fast deployment.

[0211] In some examples, a UE's capability needs to be introduced to support CSI reporting for NCJT based on an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports. In such examples, the UE may transmit capability information indicating whether to support the enhanced Type I codebook using no more than 32 CSI-RS ports for determining PMIs for NCJT. As an example, an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports may be included in an IE "codebookComboParameterMultiTRP-r17" for NCJT as a candidate codebook type.

[0212] It is contemplated that the solutions provided in the above Embodiments 1-4 may be implemented separately or in combination.

[0213] Figure 2 illustrates a flowchart of an exemplary method in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The operations of the method illustrated in Figure 2 may be performed by a UE (e.g., UE 104 in Figure 1) as described herein or other apparatus with the like functions. In some implementations, the UE may execute a set of instructions to control functional elements of the UE to perform the described operations or functions.

[0214] As shown in Figure 2, the method may include step 202, step 204, and step 206. In step 202, the UE may receive, from a BS (e.g., NE 102 in Figure 1) , a CSI report configuration including a codebook configuration for an enhanced Type I codebook.

[0215] In step 204, the UE may determine a PMI based on the enhanced Type I codebook using a first number of CSI-RS ports according to a restriction scheme, wherein the first number is no more than 32. The details regarding the restriction scheme may refer to the solutions provided in the aforementioned Embodiment 1.

[0216] In step 206, the UE may transmit, to the BS, a CSI report including the determined PMI.

[0217] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the restriction scheme is that: only when the first number is larger than a value, the PMI may be determined based on an enhanced Type I single panel codebook which is determined based on the codebook configuration.

[0218] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the restriction scheme is that: in the case that an enhanced Type I single panel codebook is configured for CSI reporting, the PMI may be determined based on an enhanced Type I single panel codebook with scheme B which is determined based on the codebook configuration.

[0219] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the restriction scheme is that: only when a maximum rank number for CSI reporting is larger than 4, the PMI may be determined based on an enhanced Type I single panel codebook with scheme A which is determined based on the codebook configuration.

[0220] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the restriction scheme is that: the PMI is not determined based on an enhanced Type I multi-panel codebook.

[0221] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the restriction scheme is that: only when the first number is larger than a value, the PMI may be determined based on an enhanced Type I multi-panel codebook which is determined based on the codebook configuration.

[0222] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the CSI report configuration may indicate a CSI-RS resource set for channel measurement. In the case that the CSI-RS resource set includes multiple CSI-RS resources which are aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with the first number of CSI-RS ports, as an example, the multiple CSI-RS resources are included in a same slot; as another example, a number of the multiple CSI-RS resources is 2 when the first number is 16 or 32, or is 3 when the first number is 12 or 24.

[0223] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the UE may transmit, to the BS, capability information indicating whether to support scheme A of an enhanced Type I  codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports, scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports, scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports, or scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0224] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the UE may transmit, to the BS, at least one of first capability information or second capability information. The first capability information indicates whether to support at least one of scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook or scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook. The second capability information indicates whether to support at least one of an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports or an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0225] In some embodiments, the first capability information may indicate whether to support scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook only, or support both scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook and scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook.

[0226] In some embodiments, the second capability information may indicate whether to support an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports only, or support both an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports and an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0227] In some embodiments, in the case that the second capability information indicates that an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports is supported, the first capability information indicates whether to support scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook only, or support both scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook and scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook.

[0228] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the UE may transmit, to the BS, capability information indicating a maximum number of transmitting ports per report.

[0229] In some embodiments, the capability information includes both a first value indicating a maximum number of transmitting ports per report for an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports, and a second value indicating a maximum number of transmitting ports per report for an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0230] In some embodiments, the capability information indicates a maximum number of transmitting ports per report for an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports only, and a maximum number of transmitting ports per report for an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports has a default value of 32.

[0231] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the UE may transmit, to the BS, capability information indicating supported mixed codebook combination (s) in a slot, wherein codebooks in each mixed codebook combination are selected from a set of codebooks including at least one of an enhanced Type I single panel codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports, an enhanced Type I single panel codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports, an enhanced Type I multi-panel codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports, or an enhanced Type I multi-panel codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0232] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the CSI report may be transmitted based on at least one of a first required time Z1 and a second required time Z1'.

[0233] In the case that the UE has a first capability associated with a first timeline, Z1 has a value of Z, and Z1' has a value of Z'.

[0234] In the case that the UE has a second capability associated with a second timeline, as an example, Z1 is determined based on Z plus an additional time ΔZ, and Z1' is determined based on Z' plus ΔZ, wherein ΔZ is equal to Z' or equal to a scaling factor multiplying Z or Z'; as another example, Z1 is determined based on Z multiplying a scaling factor K, and Z1' is determined based on Z' multiplying K, wherein K is a number of CSI-RS resources which are aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with the first number of CSI-RS ports, or equal to ceil (P / T) , where P is the first number and T is a predefined value or a value reported by the UE based on the UE's capability.

[0235] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the UE may determine a number of CPUs OCPU. In the case that the UE has a first capability associated with a first timeline, as an example, OCPU = ceil (X*K) , wherein K is a number of CSI-RS resources which are aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with the first number of CSI-RS ports and X is a value from a set of values which is reported by the UE based on the UE's capability; as another example, OCPU = Y, wherein Y is a predefined value or a value reported by the UE based on the  UE's capability; as another example, OCPU = ceil (P / L) , wherein P is the first number and L is a predefined value or a value reported by the UE based on the UE's capability; and in the case that the UE has a second capability associated with a second timeline, OCPU = 1.

[0236] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the enhanced Type I codebook using the first number of CSI-RS ports is not expected to be configured for determining PMIs for NCJT.

[0237] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the enhanced Type I codebook using the first number of CSI-RS ports or a Type I codebook using the first number of CSI-RS ports may be used for determining PMIs for NCJT.

[0238] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the CSI report configuration may indicate a CSI-RS resource set for channel measurement, the CSI-RS resource set may include at least one resource subset in a first resource group, a second resource group or a resource pair, and each resource subset may include multiple CSI-RS resources which are aggregated to generate a CSI-RS resource with the first number of CSI-RS ports.

[0239] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, a same codebook type may be used to determine multiple PMIs for NCJT, and the same codebook type may be either the enhanced Type I codebook using the first number of CSI-RS ports or the Type I codebook using the first number of CSI-RS ports.

[0240] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, only scheme A of the enhanced Type I codebook using the first number of CSI-RS ports is used for determining PMIs for NCJT.

[0241] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the UE may transmit, to the BS, capability information indicating whether to support the enhanced Type I codebook using the first number of CSI-RS ports for determining PMIs for NCJT.

[0242] It should be noted that the method described herein describes a possible implementation, and that the operations and the steps may be arranged or otherwise modified and that other implementations are possible.

[0243] Figure 3 illustrates a flowchart of an exemplary method in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The operations of the method illustrated in Figure 3 may be performed by a BS (e.g., NE 102 in Figure 1) as described herein or other apparatus with the like functions. In some implementations, the BS may execute a set of instructions to control functional elements of the BS to perform the described operations or functions.

[0244] As shown in Figure 3, the method may include step 302 and step 304. In step 302, the BS may transmit, to a UE (e.g., UE 104 in Figure 1) , a CSI report configuration including a codebook configuration for an enhanced Type I codebook.

[0245] In step 304, the BS may receive a CSI report including a PMI. The PMI is based on the enhanced Type I codebook using a first number of CSI-RS ports according to a restriction scheme, wherein the first number is no more than 32. The details regarding the restriction scheme may refer to the solutions provided in the aforementioned Embodiment 1.

[0246] In some embodiments, the codebook configuration for the enhanced Type I codebook is associated with the restriction scheme. In other words, the BS may configure the codebook configuration by taking into account the restriction scheme such that it will not conflict the restriction scheme. In some other embodiments, the codebook configuration for the enhanced Type I codebook does not include explicit information associated with the restriction scheme.

[0247] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the restriction scheme is that: only when the first number is larger than a value, the PMI may be based on an enhanced Type I single panel codebook which is based on the codebook configuration.

[0248] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the restriction scheme is that: in the case that an enhanced Type I single panel codebook is configured for CSI reporting, the PMI may be based on an enhanced Type I single panel codebook with scheme B which is based on the codebook configuration.

[0249] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the restriction scheme is that: only when a maximum rank number for CSI reporting is larger than 4, the PMI may be based on an enhanced Type I single panel codebook with scheme A which is based on the codebook configuration.

[0250] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the restriction scheme is that: the PMI is not based on an enhanced Type I multi-panel codebook.

[0251] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the restriction scheme is that: only when the first number is larger than a value, the PMI may be based on an enhanced Type I multi-panel codebook which is based on the codebook configuration.

[0252] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the CSI report configuration may indicate a CSI-RS resource set for channel measurement.

[0253] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the BS may receive, from the UE, capability information indicating whether to support scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports, scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports, scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports, or scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0254] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the BS may receive, from the UE, at least one of first capability information or second capability information.

[0255] In some embodiments, the first capability information may indicate whether to support scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook only, or support both scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook and scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook.

[0256] In some embodiments, the second capability information may indicate whether to support an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports only, or support both an enhanced Type I codebook with more than 32 CSI-RS ports and an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports.

[0257] In some embodiments, in the case that the second capability information indicates that an enhanced Type I codebook with no more than 32 CSI-RS ports is supported, the first capability information indicates whether to support scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook only, or support both scheme A of an enhanced Type I codebook and scheme B of an enhanced Type I codebook.
