[0001] The present invention relates to a composition and a mask containing the same. In particular, the present invention relates to a composition for caring for keratin materials, and a mask comprising the same. The present invention also relates to a non-therapeutic process for caring for keratin materials.BACKGROUND ART
[0002] Hydrogel is a kind of solid-gel comprising different types of polymers, which is able to hold big amount of water. The technology is wildly used as a kind of medical dressing to provide the soothing or wound healing effect. In cosmetic field, hydrogel can be used as a kind of substrate in the form of sheet mask.
[0003] To be strong enough as a sheet mask, the normal way is to increase the concentration of the polymer.
[0004] However, when the concentration of the polymer is increased, the hydrogel obtained will become stiffer, and is difficult to be bent and fit on the face shape, it may be acceptable to be used as a zone patch such as eye patch or spots patch, but it is not able to be used as a full-face mask or for other body parts.
[0005] It is desired to have a composition with softness suitable for full face or other body parts.
[0006] It is also desired that the composition has good affinity to be adhered to the skin.
[0007] Therefore, there is a need to develop a composition which is soft and has good affinity to the skin.
[0008] In addition, the formulation of environmentally-friendly cosmetic products, which are designed and developed considering environmental issues, is becoming a major goal in an effort to meet global challenges.
[0009] It is therefore essential to propose more sustainable compositions and ingredients to address these environmental concerns.
[0010] In this context, it is important to develop new cosmetic compositions with a better carbon footprint, particularly by promoting the use of renewable raw materials and / or materials with a good index of naturalness and / or materials of natural origin and, more particularly, materials of plant origin while reducing the use of compounds of petrochemical origin.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0037] Sphingomonas ferment extract
[0038] According to the first aspect, the composition of the present invention comprises at least one sphingomonas ferment extract.
[0039] Sphingomonas ferment extract is the extract of the product obtained by the fermentation of Sphingomonas. It is known to contain glycosphingolipids (GSLs) such as seramide, dihydrosphingosine, and glucuronic acid, and is popular for its reduction of lipid peroxidation and functioning of the key biomarkers of senescence, thus preventing the skin aging.
[0040] The extracts according to the invention can be prepared by any conventional method well known to persons skilled in the art. These methods typically comprise a step of fermentation, isolation, separation, and purification.
[0041] Typically, the bacterium of Sphingomonas genus is cultivated in a suitable medium and cultivated at a desired density. The bacteria themselves can be concentrated by any known method, such as centrifugation. The concentrated bacteria can then be used directly as a raw preparation, or additional steps of treatment well known to person skilled in the art can be carried out, such as lyophilization, dehydration, filtration, purification, freezing optionally followed by a thawing, sterilization, column chromatography, grinding, etc.
[0042] Preferably, the bacterial extract is a lysate of bacteria comprising in particular the compounds comprised in the bacterium, therefore present in the bacterial pellet of the bacterial culture after centrifugation. Preferably, the bacterial extract is a lysate of bacteria comprising the intracellular medium and / or the constituents of the walls and / or cell membranes.
[0043] A lysate commonly designates a material obtained at the end of the destruction or dissolution of biological cells by a phenomenon called cell lysis thus causing the release of the intracellular biological constituents naturally contained in the cells of the microorganism considered.
[0044] In terms of the present invention, the term lysate is used indifferently to designate all the lysate obtained by lysis of the microorganism concerned or only a fraction of the latter.
[0045] The lysate implemented is therefore form entirely or partially of the intracellular biological constituents and constituents of the cell walls and membranes.
[0046] This cellular lysis can be carried out using different technologies, such as for example osmotic shock, thermal shock such as a freezing optionally followed by a thawing, by ultrasound, or under mechanical stress of the centrifugation type for example.
[0047] Preferably, the lysate implemented in the framework of the present invention is obtained by a method comprising the following steps:
[0048] i) a step of centrifugation;
[0049] ii) a step of recovering the pellet;
[0050] iii) a step of freezing the pellet;
[0051] iv) a step of thawing the pellet;
[0052] v) optionally a step of sterilizing via autoclaving, in particular at 121℃.
[0053] In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the extract of bacteria comprises an inactivated bacterium.
[0054] Here, "inactivated" has the meaning that is commonly used by persons skilled in the art, i.e. the suppression of the activity of the bacterium under the effect of various causes (heat, chemical, mechanical, enzyme substances) . Preferably, the bacterium is inactivated by heat, more preferably by autoclaving.
[0055] Preferably, the bacterium of the extract according to the invention is Sphingomonas xenophaga. In a more preferred embodiment, the bacterium is a Sphingomonas xenophaga registered according to the Budapest Treaty, on November 21, 2019, with the Collection Nationale de Culture de Microorganismes ( (CNCM) , Paris, France) under the number CNCM I-5455 by L’Oréal, 101 Avenue Gustave Eiffel, 37390 Notre Dame d’Oé.

Each sugar unit may be sulfated one or more times in position 2, 3, 4 or 6. Methyl and pyruvic acid groups may also be found, along with other sugar units grafted onto the base structures described previously. Carrageenans were initially subdivided into subfamilies as a function of their solubility in KCl and then according to the number and position of the sulfate groups and the presence of 3', 6'-anhydro bridges on the galactopyranosyl residues. At least 15 carrageenans are listed, the structure of which depends on the alga of origin and on the extraction method. Among the most common, mention may be made of the following carrageenans: μ-carrageenan ( (1→3) β-D-galactopyranose-4-sulfate- (1→4) -α-D-galactopyranose-6-sulfate) , κ-carrageenan ( (1→3) β-D-galactopyranose-4-sulfate- (1→4) 3, 6-anhydro-α-D-galactopyranose) , v-carrageenan ( (1→3) β-D-galactopyranose-4-sulfate- (1→4) -α-D-galactopyranose-2, 6-disulfate) , τ-carrageenan ( (1→3) β-D-galactopyranose-4-sulfate- (1→4) 3, 6-anhydro-α-D-galactopyranose-2-sulfatesulfate) ) , λ-carrageenan ( (1→3) β-D-galactopyranose-2-sulfate- (1→4) -α-D-galactopyranose-2, 6-disulfate) , γ -carrageenan ( (1→3) β-D-galactopyranose-2-sulfate- (1→4) 3, 6-anhydro-α-D-galactopyranose-2-sulfate, ξ-carrageenan ( (1→3) β-D-galactopyranose-2-sulfate- (1→4) 3, 6-anhydro-α-D-galactopyranose-2-sulfate.

[0082] Preferably, the ionic polysaccharide different from carrageenan is selected from xanthan gum, gellan gum, and a combination thereof.
[0083] Xanthan is a heteropolysaccharide produced by the aerobic fermentation of the bacterium Xanthomonas campestris. Its structure consists of a main chain of β (1, 4) -linked β-D-glucoses, similar to cellulose. One glucose molecule in two bears a trisaccharide side chain composed of an α-D-mannose, a β-D-glucuronic acid and a terminal β-D-mannose. The internal mannose residue is generally acetylated on carbon 6. About 30%of the terminal mannose residues bear a pyruvate group linked in chelated form between carbons 4 and 6. The charged pyruvic acids and glucuronic acids are ionizable, and are thus responsible for the anionic nature of xanthan (negative charge down to a pH equal to 1) . These groups may be neutralized in commercial products with Na+, K+or Ca2+ions (Satia company, 1986) . The neutralized form may be converted into the acid form by ion exchange or by dialysis of an acidic solution.
[0084] Gellan gum has a recurring tetrasaccharide structure composed of (glucose-glucuronic acid-glucose-rhamose) units.
[0085] Partial structure of gellan gum is as follows:

[0140] Compositions of invention examples (IE. ) 1-3 and comparative examples (CE. ) 1-3 were prepared according to the amounts of components given in Table 2. The amount of each component is given in%by weight with regard to the total weight of the composition, unless otherwise indicated as active material (AM) .
[0141] Table 2
[0142] Compositions of invention examples 1-3 represent compositions of the present invention.
[0143] Compositions of comparative examples 1-2 do not comprise at least one sphingomonas ferment extract.
[0144] Composition of comparative example 3 does not comprise carrageenan.
[0145] Preparation of compositions
[0146] The compositions above were prepared as follows:
[0147] 1) phase A preparation: mixing carrageenan (if presents) , glucomannan, and xanthan gum in glycerin with stirring to obtain a mixture, introducing the mixture into water at 80 ℃ with stirring for 30 minutes;
[0148] 2) introducing sphingomonas ferment extract (if presents) into phase A at 80℃ with stirring for 5 minutes to obtain the compositions.
[0149] Preparation of masks
[0150] 30g of each composition of invention examples (IE. ) 1-3 and comparative examples (CE. ) 1-3 was weighed and coated on top of 1g of a fabric made from cellulose using a coating machine to obtain mask.
[0151] Evaluation
[0152] Softness of each composition obtained and its affinity to the skin were evaluated.
[0153] Softness
[0154] The softness of compositions of inventive examples (IE. ) 1-3 and comparative examples (CE. ) 1-3 were characterized by gel strength as tested with a texture analyser named Stable Micro Systems TA. XT Plus available from lotun science as follows.
[0155] A sample at a temperature of 80℃ was poured into a cylinder with a dimeter of 68 mm and a height of 25 mm in a sufficient quantity for the surface to form a smooth and homogeneous surface without defects. The sample was allowed to clot in the cylinder at room temperature overnight. Then the testing was carried out according to the specification from the manufacture under the following conditions:
[0156] Test mode: compression
[0157] Pre-test speed: 1 mm / s
[0158] Test speed: 2 mm / s
[0159] Post-test speed: 10 mm / s
[0160] Target mode: distance
[0161] Force: 100 g
[0162] Penetration distance: 8 mm
[0163] Trigger type: Auto (force)
[0164] Trigger force: 5 g
[0165] The force at 8 mm was read as gel strength for each sample. The results of gel strength of each composition tested were listed in Table 3.
[0166] The value of gel strength is presented as “g” . The smaller the value of gel strength, the softer the composition. The gel strength of less than 200 g is acceptable.
[0167] Affinity
[0168] The affinity of compositions of inventive examples (IE. ) 1-3 and comparative examples (CE. ) 1-3 to the skin were evaluated as follows.
[0169] 20 volunteers were invited to apply masks containing the composition to be tested on the faces with the composition in contact with the face and made the following movements while remaining the mask fixed:
[0170] a) blinking eyes for 10 times;
[0171] b) moving eyes towards right, towards left, clockwise, counter-clockwise, each for 3 times;
[0172] c) moving mouths by saying "e" , "i" , "u" , each for 3 times;
[0173] d) moving the face down for 3 times;
[0174] e) moving the face towards right for 45° then towards left for 45°, each for 3 times.
[0175] Then the score of the affinity of the composition tested to the skin were provided by the volunteers according to the following standard and averaged:
[0176] 0-1: peel off from the face skin for more than 50%area
[0177] 1-2: peel off from the face skin for 30-50%area
[0178] 2-3: slightly peel off from the face skin for 20-30%area
[0179] 3-4: slightly peel off from the face skin for 10-20%area
[0180] 4-5: very slight peel off from the face skin for 5-10%area
[0181] 5-6: almost no slight peel off from the face skin, peel off for 0-5%area.
[0182] Gel strength of compositions of inventive examples (IE. ) 1-3 and comparative examples (CE. ) 1-3 obtained and their affinity to the skin were listed in Table 3.
[0183] Table 3
[0184] NA: not evaluated since the composition is too dry to be attached on the skin.
[0185] It can be seen that each composition of invention examples has gel strength value of less than 200, and the score of affinity of each invention example is larger than 5, which means the compositions of invention examples are soft and have good affinity to the skin.
