Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to devices and methods of communication. In the solution, upon reception of first information for triggering a round of operations for accessing to a first communication device, an A-IoT device may determine whether the round of operations is to be performed based on at least one of the first information or second information comprised in a set of paging messages from a set of second communication devices. If the round of operations is to be performed, the A-IoT device may perform the round of operations for accessing to a first communication device. In this way, duplicated access may be reduced and signaling overhead may be saved.

[0043] As shown in FIG. 1, the communication network 100 may further include a CN device 140 and an A-IoT server 150. In some scenarios, each of the one or more A-IoT devices 130 may communicate with the A-IoT server 150 via a cellular network comprising the terminal device 110 and / or 111 and / or 112, and the RAN device 120 and the CN device 140.

[0044] It is to be understood that the number of devices in FIG. 1 is given for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitations to the present disclosure. The communication network 100 may include any suitable number of RAN devices and / or terminal devices and / or A-IoT devices and / or CN devices and / or A-IoT servers adapted for implementing implementations of the present disclosure.

[0045] The terminal device 110 may communicate with the RAN device 120 via a Uu interface. The RAN device 120 may communicate with the CN device 140 via an Ng interface. The communications in the communication network 100 may conform to any suitable standards including, but not limited to, global system for mobile communications (GSM) , long term evolution (LTE) , LTE-evolution, LTE-advanced (LTE-A) , new radio (NR) , wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) , code division multiple access (CDMA) , GSM EDGE radio access network (GERAN) , machine type communication (MTC) and the like. The embodiments of the present disclosure may be performed according to any generation communication protocols either currently known or to be developed in the future. Examples of the communication protocols include, but not limited to, the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , 2.5G, 2.75G, the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , 4.5G, the fifth generation (5G) communication protocols, 5.5G, 5G-advanced networks, or the sixth generation (6G) networks.

[0046] In some scenarios, the terminal device 110, the RAN device 120 or the CN device 140 may serve as a node (also referred to as a managing node or a communication device herein) of managing the one or more A-IoT devices 130. In some embodiments, each communication device may page one or more A-IoT devices. In some embodiments, each communication device may indicate one or more A-IoT devices to perform random access to this communication device.

[0047] Embodiments of the present disclosure provide solutions of communication for paging and random access procedures. The detailed description will be made with reference to FIG. 2 below.

[0048] EXAMPLE IMPLEMENTATION OF PAGING AND RANDOM ACCESS IN A-IOT

[0049] FIG. 2 illustrates a signaling chart illustrating an example process 200 of communication according to embodiments of the present disclosure. The process 200 may involve an A-IoT device 201, a communication device 202 and a communication device 203. The A-IoT device 201 may be any of the one or more A-IoT devices 130 as illustrated in FIG. 1, and the communication device 202 and the communication device 203 may be the terminal device 110 or 111, the RAN device 120 or the CN device 140 as illustrated in FIG. 1. It is to be understood that the steps and the order of the steps in FIG. 2 are merely for illustration, and not for limitation. For example, the order of the steps may be changed. Some of the steps may be omitted or any other suitable additional steps may be added.

[0050] As shown in FIG. 2, the A-IoT device 201 may receive 210 a set of paging messages from a set of communication devices (also referred to as a set of second communication devices herein) . As an example, the A-IoT device 201 may receive 211 a paging message from the communication device 202 and receive 212 a paging message from the communication device 203.

[0051] In some embodiments, the paging message may comprise information (also referred to as second information herein) used for determination of whether to respond to the paging message. In some embodiments, the second information may comprise information of a set of A-IoT devices, i.e., device set information (e.g., mask) , which identifies a group of A-IoT devices.

[0052] In some embodiments, the second information may comprise an identity (ID) of a process (e.g., each process) in a set of processes. In some embodiments, process IDs may correspond to different types of services or traffics or commands or different processes. In some embodiments, the process IDs may be associated with different priority values.

[0053] In some embodiments, the second information may comprise an ID (also referred to as reader ID herein) of a second communication device transmitting the paging message. In some embodiments, reader IDs may be associated with different priority values.

[0054] In some embodiments, the second information may comprise a priority value of a second communication device transmitting the paging message. In some embodiments, the second information may comprise a priority value of a process.

[0055] In some embodiments, the second information may comprise an indicator for indicating a type of paging. In some embodiments, the type of paging may comprise one of the following: device originated (DO) , DT, DO-DTT, MO, MT, inventory, command, read, write, or DL control. It is to be understood that any other suitable paging types may also be feasible.

[0056] In some embodiments, a paging procedure in A-IoT may comprise a set of paging messages, i.e., a paging record may consist of one or multiple paging messages. In some embodiments for multiple paging messages, information of the set of paging messages may be included in one or more (e.g., each paging message) of the set of paging messages. In some embodiments, the second information may comprise number of paging messages in the set of paging messages (e.g., for a current procedure) . In some embodiments, the second information may comprise remaining number of paging messages in the set of paging  messages. In some embodiments, the second information may comprise an indication of whether a following paging message exists.

[0057] In some embodiments, the second information may comprise a paging reset indicator for indicating whether the paging is reset. For example, the paging reset indicator may have a sixth value indicating that the paging is reset and an eighth value indicating that the paging is not reset.

[0058] In some embodiments, if the paging reset indicator of the sixth value is received, or an indicated value of the paging reset indicator in the paging message is the same as a stored value of the paging reset indicator in the A-IoT device 201, the A-IoT device 201 may ignore the paging message.

[0059] In some embodiments, if the paging reset indicator of the sixth value is received, or an indicated value of the paging reset indicator in the paging message is the same as a stored value of the paging reset indicator in the A-IoT device 201, the A-IoT device 201 may cancel a setting of a first status which is described later.

[0060] In some embodiments, if the paging reset indicator of the sixth value is received, or an indicated value of the paging reset indicator in the paging message is the same as a stored value of the paging reset indicator in the A-IoT device 201, the A-IoT device 201 may reset the first status. For example, the A-IoT device 201 may override the previous value of the first status with the received or indicated value of the first status. In another example, the A-IoT device 201 may set the first status to be a value indicated in the current paging message if the first status is set as the second value (e.g., off or unselected) before.

[0061] In some embodiments, if the paging reset indicator of the sixth value is received, or an indicated value of the paging reset indicator in the paging message is the same as a stored value of the paging reset indicator in the A-IoT device 201, the A-IoT device 201 may determine that the paging message is associated with a further process.

[0062] It is to be understood that the second information may comprise any combinations of the above listed information or any other suitable information. The present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0063] In some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may be grouped, be classified or be included in different device pools based on received paging messages. In other words, the A-IoT device 201 may determine related group information based on the received paging messages. For example, the A-IoT device 201 may be grouped by a setting of one or more  statuses corresponding to the A-IoT device 201.

[0064] With reference to FIG. 2, in some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may maintain or manage 220 the one or more statuses based on the paging messages. In other words, the A-IoT device 201 may set the one or more statuses based on the second information. In some embodiments, the one or more statuses may be maintained or managed in association with at least one of a communication device or a process.

[0065] In the context of the present disclosure, the term ‘status’ herein may be interchangeably used with ‘flag’ , ‘grouping information’ , ‘grouping flag’ , or any other suitable names.

[0066] In some embodiments, a status (also referred to as a first status herein) may be defined in an explicit or absolute way to indicate whether to initiate or end a procedure of entering a state of responding to further commands from a communication device, or accessing to the communication device (or access triggering by the communication device) . For example, a first value of the first status is used to indicate that such procedure is initiated or on or selected, and a second value of the first status is used to indicate that such procedure is ended or off or unselected.

[0067] In some embodiments, if an ID of the A-IoT device 201 matches the information of the set of A-IoT devices comprised in the second information, the A-IoT device 201 may set the first status to be the first value. In some embodiments, if the ID of the A-IoT device 201 does not match the information of the set of A-IoT devices comprised in the second information, the A-IoT device 201 may set the first status to be the second value. For example, the A-IoT device 201 may toggle the value of the first status. In some embodiments, if the ID of the A-IoT device 201 does not match the information of the set of A-IoT devices comprised in the second information, the A-IoT device 201 may ignore the corresponding paging message and may not change the first status.

[0068] In some embodiments, the first and second values may be set as bit values, e.g., 1, 0 or any other suitable values. For illustration, example settings of the first status may be described as shown in Tables 1 to 3 below.

[0069] Table 1

[0070] In the example of Table 1, the first status is set for a reader (i.e., a communication device) .

[0071] Table 2

[0072] In the example of Table 2, the first status is set for a process.

[0073] Table 3

[0074] In the example of Table 3, the first status is set for a process of a reader.

[0075] In some embodiments, another status (also referred to as a second status herein) may be defined in an implicit or relative way to indicate whether to initiate or end a procedure of entering a state of responding to further commands from a communication device, or accessing to the communication device (or access triggering by the communication device) . For example, if a value of the second status matches an indicated value, it is shown that such procedure is initiated or on or selected. If the value of the second status does not match the indicated value, it is shown that such procedure is ended or off or unselected. In this case, the second status may have multiple values and these values may adopt any suitable forms, e.g., state A, state B and state C; or state 0 and state 1.

[0076] In some embodiments, if the ID of the A-IoT device 201 matches the information of the set of A-IoT devices comprised in the second information and the second information indicates a value of the second status, the A-IoT device 201 may set the second status to be the indicated value, e.g., state A. In some embodiments, if the ID of the A-IoT device 201 does not match the information of the set of A-IoT devices comprised in the second information, the A-IoT device 201 may set the second status in a predefined way. For example, if total number of values of the second status is 2, the A-IoT device 201 may toggle the value of the second status. In some embodiments, if the ID of the A-IoT device 201 does not match the information of the set of A-IoT devices comprised in the second information, the A-IoT device 201 may ignore the corresponding paging message, and may not change the second status.

[0077] For illustration, example settings of the second status may be described as shown in  Tables 4 to 6 below.

[0078] Table 4

[0079] In the example of Table 4, the second status is set for a reader (i.e., a communication device) .

[0080] Table 5

[0081] In the example of Table 5, the second status is set for a process.

[0082] Table 6

[0083] In the example of Table 6, the second status is set for a process of a reader.

[0084] In some embodiments, if the first status is set as the first value, the A-IoT device 201 may set the second status. In other words, the A-IoT device 201 may set the second status only when the first status is set as the first value.

[0085] In some embodiments, the first and / or second status may be set based on contents in the paging message. In some embodiments, the first and / or second status may be randomly generated when the A-IoT device 201 receives the paging message or is energized.

[0086] In some embodiments, the first status or the second status may be the group information. The A-IoT device 201 may determine the group information according to one or more paging messages. Then the A-IoT device 201 may determine whether or when to perform an access procedure based on the group information. For example, the A-IoT device 201 may perform the access procedure if the A-IoT device 201 determines the group information as ‘on’ . For another example, the A-IoT device 201 may perform the access operation if the A-IoT device 201 determines the access procedure is for the same group as the A-IoT device 201 determined (e.g., the A-IoT device 201 with group A will perform the access procedure in an access round for group A) .

[0087] With the first and / or second status, A-IoT devices may be grouped. It is to be understood that the grouping of the A-IoT devices may be implemented in any other suitable ways, and the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0088] Continuing to refer to FIG. 2, the A-IoT device 201 may receive 230, from a communication device (also referred to as a first communication device herein) , information (also referred to as first information herein) for triggering a round of operations or an attempt for accessing to the first communication device. In this example, it is assumed that the first communication device is the communication device 202. The first information may also be called as an access trigger indication. It is to be understood that the A-IoT device 201 may receive a set of access trigger indications from a set of first communication devices, and perform similar operations for each access trigger indication. In some embodiments, an access process may comprise a set of access trigger indications.

[0089] In some embodiments, the first information may be transmitted (i.e., a random access may be triggered) by a MT or DL or FL signaling after the A-IoT device 201 is paged by the communication device 202.

[0090] In some embodiments, the first information may indicate an ID of at least one of the communication device 202 or a process (also referred to as a first process herein) . In other words, the first information may indicate for which reader or process the access is initiated.

[0091] In some embodiments, the first information may indicate at least one of the first status or the second status. In this way, the A-IoT device 201 may decide whether to participate the coming access round based on the indicated value of the first and / or second status.

[0092] In some embodiments, the first information may indicate that the A-IoT device 201 may participate the coming access round regardless of the first and / or second status. In some embodiments, the first information may indicate that only an A-IoT device which fails to access in previous rounds is allowed to participate the coming access round. In some embodiments, the first information may indicate that the coming access round is the last round for a current command or operation.

[0093] It is to be understood that the first information may comprise any combinations of the above listed information or any other suitable information. The present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0094] Continuing to refer to FIG. 2, upon reception of the first information, the A-IoT  device 201 may determine 240 whether the round of operations is to be performed. In some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may determine whether the round of operations is to be performed based on at least one of the first information or the second information.

[0095] With reference to FIG. 2, in some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may determine 241 whether the round of operations is to be performed based on the first status and / or the second status.

[0096] In some embodiments, if the first information (i.e., the access trigger indication) indicates an ID of at least one of a communication device or a process, the A-IoT device 201 may check the first status associated with the at least one of the communication device or the process. If the first status is set to the first value (e.g., on or selected) , the A-IoT device 201 may determine that the round of operations is to be performed. If the first status is set to the second value (e.g., off or unselected) , the A-IoT device 201 may determine that the round of operations is not to be performed.

[0097] In some embodiments, if the first information (i.e., the access trigger indication) indicates an ID of at least one of a communication device or a process, and also indicates a value of the first status, the A-IoT device 201 may check the first status associated with the at least one of the communication device or the process that is maintained or stored at the A-IoT device 201. If the indicated value of the first status is the same as the maintained or stored value of the first status, the A-IoT device 201 may determine that the round of operations is to be performed. If the indicated value of the first status is different from the maintained or stored value of the first status, the A-IoT device 201 may determine that the round of operations is not to be performed.

[0098] In some embodiments, if the first information (i.e., the access trigger indication) indicates an ID of at least one of a communication device or a process, and also indicates a value of the second status, the A-IoT device 201 may check the second status associated with the at least one of the communication device or the process that is maintained or stored at the A-IoT device 201. If the indicated value of the second status is the same as the maintained or stored value of the second status, the A-IoT device 201 may determine that the round of operations is to be performed. If the indicated value of the second status is different from the maintained or stored value of the second status, the A-IoT device 201 may determine that the round of operations is not to be performed.

[0099] In some embodiments, if the first information (i.e., the access trigger indication)  indicates an ID of at least one of a communication device or a process, and also indicates a value of the second status, the A-IoT device 201 may check the first status associated with the at least one of the communication device or the process. If the first status is set to the second value (e.g., off or unselected) , the A-IoT device 201 may determine that the round of operations is not to be performed. If the first status is set to the first value (e.g., on or selected) , the A-IoT device 201 may check the second status associated with the at least one of the communication device or the process that is maintained or stored at the A-IoT device 201.

[0100] In some embodiments, the first information may indicate the group information. In other words, the first information may indicate which group of A-IoT devices to perform the round of operations. The A-IoT device 201 may determine whether or when to perform the round of operations based on the group information set previously. For example, the A-IoT device 201 may perform the round of operations if the A-IoT device 201 determines the group information as “on” . For another example, the A-IoT device 201 may perform the round of operations if the A-IoT device 201 determines the access procedure is for the same group as the A-IoT device 201 determined (e.g., the A-IoT device 201 with group A will perform the round of operations in the access round for group A) .

[0101] With reference to FIG. 2, in some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may determine 242 whether the round of operations is to be performed based on information of the set of paging messages in the second information.

[0102] In some embodiments, if the ID of the A-IoT device 201 matches at least one of the set of paging messages, the A-IoT device 201 may determine that the round of operations is to be performed. In other words, the A-IoT device 201 may respond to the paging if the A-IoT device 201 matches at least one of the set of paging messages (e.g., all A-IoT devices being paged are included in different paging messages) .

[0103] In some embodiments, if the ID of the A-IoT device 201 matches at least one of the set of paging messages after the paging reset indicator of the sixth value is received, the A-IoT device 201 may determine that the round of operations is to be performed. In other  words, the A-IoT device 201 may respond to the paging if the A-IoT device 201 matches at least one of the set of paging messages since last reception of the paging reset indictor (if any) .

[0104] With reference to FIG. 2, in some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may determine 243 whether the round of operations is to be performed based on the paging type indicator in the second information.

[0105] In some embodiments, if the second information in the paging message indicates a first type of paging and the ID of the A-IoT device 201 matches the information of the set of A-IoT devices in the first information, the A-IoT device 201 may consider that the paging message is for the A-IoT device 201. In this case, the A-IoT device 201 may need to respond to the paging, or need to handle the indicated behavior in the paging, or need to access to the communication device 202, or need to indicate an upper layer to access to the communication device 202. Thus, the A-IoT device 201 may determine that the round of operations is to be performed.

[0106] In some embodiments, if the second information in the paging message indicates a second type of paging, the ID of the A-IoT device 201 matches the information of the set of A-IoT devices in the first information, and data is to be transmitted (i.e., there is available DO data) , the A-IoT device 201 may consider that the paging message is for the A-IoT device 201.

[0107] In some embodiments, if the second information in the paging message indicates a third type of paging and the ID of the A-IoT device 201 matches the information of the set of A-IoT devices in the first information, the A-IoT device 201 may consider that a current transmission is to be completed upon data is successfully delivered.

[0108] In some embodiments, if the second information in the paging message indicates a fourth type of paging and the ID of the A-IoT device 201 matches the information of the set of A-IoT devices in the first information, the A-IoT device 201 may consider that a current transmission is to be completed upon a command indicated in the paging message or in the further access procedure is successfully performed.

[0109] In some embodiments, if the second information in the paging message indicates a  fifth type of paging and the ID of the A-IoT device 201 matches the information of the set of A-IoT devices in the first information, the A-IoT device 201 may consider that a current transmission is to be completed upon ID information of the A-IoT device 201 (inventoried by the communication device 202) is successfully delivered to the communication device 202.

[0110] In some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may only participate part of access rounds. In some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may determine which access round to participate based on at least one of the following: information indicated in the paging message, an ID of the A-IoT device 201, or information in the access trigger indication (i.e., the first information) .

[0111] In some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may select at least one access round based on an ID of the A-IoT device 201 and x, x is a function of information indicated in the paging message or information in the access trigger indication (i.e., the first information) . For example, i = ID of the A-IoT device mod x. The A-IoT device 201 may select an access round indexed by i. Alternatively, the A-IoT device 201 may select an access round which is the ith access round that the A-IoT device 201 has received. Alternatively, the A-IoT device 201 may select an access round indexed by j which is multiples of i. Alternatively, the A-IoT device 201 may select an access round which is the jth access round that the A-IoT device 201 has received, where j is multiples of i.

[0112] In some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may determine a timing of the access round based on the received access trigger indication. In some embodiments, the timing of the access round may be indicated in the paging message. For example, the paging message may indicate at least one of the following: a timing of the first access round or a periodicity or cycle of each access round. In some embodiments, a timing of a next access round may be indicated in the access trigger indication.

[0113] Continuing to refer to FIG. 2, upon determination that the round of operations is to be performed, the A-IoT device 201 may perform 250 the round of operations for accessing to the communication device 202.

[0114] With reference to FIG. 2, in some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may transmit 251, to the communication device 202, a contention resolution ID associated with at least one of the communication device 202 or a process. It is to be understood that the term ‘contention resolution ID’ herein may be interchangeably used with ‘access ID’ . In some  embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may generate different contention resolution IDs for different readers or processes. In this way, collision among ongoing processes may be avoided.

[0115] In some embodiments, the contention resolution IDs may be randomly generated. In some embodiments, the contention resolution IDs may be dedicated for contention resolution and may be different from the ID of the A-IoT device 201. In some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may determine the contention resolution ID based on at least one of the following: an identity of the A-IoT device 201, maximum number of processes, an index of the round of operations, the first status, the second status, an ID of a process, or the ID of the communication device 202.

[0116] With reference to FIG. 2, in some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may receive 252 a response indicating the contention resolution ID from the communication device 202. In this case, the A-IoT device 201 may transmit 253 ID information of the A-IoT device 201 to the communication device 202. Then a transmission of DL or UL data may be performed 254 between the A-IoT device 201 and the communication device 202.

[0117] In some embodiments, the round of operations is performed in one access occasion. In some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may only participate one access round with one reader each time. In some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may only perform a transmission in one access occasion with one reader each time.

[0118] In some embodiments, if a paging message for the A-IoT device 201 is received, the A-IoT device 201 may start or restart a timer (also referred to as a first timer herein) or a counter (also referred to as a first counter herein) . Alternatively, if the first and / or second status is set, the A-IoT device 201 may start or restart the first timer or the first counter. In some embodiments, if the first information (i.e., access trigger indication) is received, the A-IoT device 201 may stop the first timer or the first counter. In some embodiments, if the first timer expires or an overall counting of the first counter exceeds a first threshold, the A-IoT device 201 may consider that the round of operations is unsuccessfully completed.

[0119] In some embodiments, if the contention resolution ID is transmitted to the communication device 202, the A-IoT device 201 may start or restart a timer (also referred to as a second timer herein) or a counter (also referred to as a second counter herein) . In some embodiments, if the response indicating the contention resolution ID is received, the A-IoT device 201 may stop the second timer or the second counter. In some embodiments,  if the second timer expires or an overall counting of the second counter exceeds a second threshold, the A-IoT device 201 may consider that the round of operations is unsuccessfully completed.

[0120] In some embodiments, if a paging message for the A-IoT device 201 is received, the A-IoT device 201 may start or restart a timer (also referred to as a third timer herein) or a counter (also referred to as a third counter herein) . Alternatively, if the first and / or second status is set, the A-IoT device 201 may start or restart the third timer or the third counter. In some embodiments, if the DL or UL data is acknowledged by the communication device 202, the A-IoT device 201 may stop the third timer or the third counter. In some embodiments, if the third timer expires or an overall counting of the third counter exceeds a third threshold, the A-IoT device 201 may consider that the round of operations is unsuccessfully completed.

[0121] In some embodiments, considering a limited size and complexity required by practical applications for battery-less devices with no energy storage capability or devices with limited energy storage that do not need to be replaced or recharged manually, persistence of device variables may consider both the energy status of the A-IoT device 201 and the type of the device variables. From the persistence behavior perspective, three types of device variable control may be considered:

[0122] - Type 1 Infinite persistent: the variables required to be kept even the A-IoT device 201 is de-energized. For example, information related to registration with a network (NW) , which are stored in a memory of the A-IoT device 201.

[0123] - Type 2 Limited persistent: the variables may be refreshed under some circumstances. For example, the A-IoT device 201 may maintain those variables under specific temperature range and energy storage meets the persistence requirements, otherwise, the A-IoT device 201 will lose the stored value.

[0124] - Type 3 Non-persistent: the A-IoT device 201 may refresh non-persistent variables when powered, meaning that every time the A-IoT device 201 loses power, its non-persistent variables will be lost.

[0125] In some embodiments, local variables (e.g., Type 2 Limited persistent variables such as a value of the first or second or third timer) at the A-IoT device 201 may be based on an energy state of the A-IoT device 201. In some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may determine an energy state of the A-IoT device 201, and determine a value of the first or second or third timer based on the energy state. For example, when the A-IoT device 201 is de- energized, the local variables may be maintained for at least a first period of time. In another example, when the A-IoT device 201 is limited energized, the local variables may be maintained for at least a second period of time. In still another example, when the A-IoT device 201 is energized, the local variables may be maintained for at least a third period of time. Thus, a value of the first or second or third timer may be set to different values when the A-IoT device 201 operates at different energy states.

[0126] With reference to FIG. 2, in some embodiments, if a set of processes is ongoing or pending or suspending or to be performed (e.g., if the A-IoT device 201 received a paging from other communication device (s) and has not responded or has not performed access yet) , the A-IoT device 201 may transmit 255, to the communication device 202, information (also referred to as third information herein) indicating that the set of processes is ongoing or pending or suspending or to be performed.

[0127] In some embodiments, the third information may comprise an indication that the set of processes is ongoing or pending or suspended or to be performed. For example, the indication may be 1 bit. In some embodiments, the third information may comprise an ID of a communication device (also referred to as a third communication device herein) associated with a process (e.g., the first process) in the set of processes. In some embodiments, the third information may comprise a traffic type of a process in the set of processes. It is to be understood that any combinations of the above information or any other suitable information may also be feasible.

[0128] With reference to FIG. 2, upon reception of the third information, the communication device 202 may notify 256 information of the set of processes to other communication device (s) (e.g., the communication device 203) . In some embodiments, if the first process between the communication device 202 and the A-IoT device 201 is completed, the A-IoT device 201 may transmit information (also referred to as fourth information herein) of the first process to the third communication device. For example, the fourth information may comprise at least one of time information or service periodicity of the first process. Any other suitable information may also be feasible.

[0129] In some embodiments, if a second process between the communication device 202 and the A-IoT device 201 is initiated, the A-IoT device 201 may transmit information (also referred to as fifth information herein) of the second process to a fourth communication device. For example, the fifth information may comprise at least one of time information  or service periodicity or an ID of an associated A-IoT device for the second process. In some embodiments, the fourth communication device may be a CN device. Upon reception of the fifth information, the CN device may further inform other communication device (s) . Alternatively, the fourth communication device may be a RAN device.

[0130] Continuing to refer to FIG. 2, in some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may manage or set 260 the first and / or second status during random access. In some embodiments, if the round of operations is successfully completed, the A-IoT device 201 may set the first status to be the second value (e.g., from ‘on / selected’ to ‘off / unselected’ ) . In some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may toggle the second status (e.g., from state A to state B, or from state B to state A) . In some embodiments, if the round of operations is successfully completed, the A-IoT device 201 may set the second status to be a fourth value indicating that the round of operations is successfully completed (e.g., from state A to state X) . The state X means that the A-IoT device 201 had been inventoried already and does not need to respond to further access trigger indications. In some embodiments, the state X may be reset until reviving next paging message for the A-IoT device 201.

[0131] In some embodiments, if the round of operations is unsuccessfully completed, the A-IoT device 201 may keep the second status unchanged. In some embodiments, the A-IoT device 201 may toggle the second status (e.g., from state A to state B, or from state B to state A) . In some embodiments, if the round of operations is unsuccessfully completed, the A-IoT device 201 may set the second status to a fifth value indicating that the round of operations is unsuccessfully completed (e.g., from state A to state Y) . The state Y means that the A-IoT device 201 fails to be inventoried, and may need another access round.

[0132] In some embodiments, the first status may not change upon access completion (success or fail) , and only the second status is reset. For example, the first status may keep ‘selected’ , and the second status may be changed from state A to state B and then return from state B to state A.

[0133] So far, the solution of communication for A-IoT is described. With the process 200, paging and random access procedures for A-IoT may be carried out. Unnecessary response to the paging and / or unnecessary random access may be reduced, and thus signaling overhead may be saved.

[0134] It is to be understood that the above operations described in the process 200 may be carried out separately or in any suitable combination. The present disclosure does not limit  this aspect.
