CLAIMS1) A tonneau cover for a cargo area of a pickup truck, the tonneau cover comprising: a first panel or slat, a second panel or slat, and a hinge connecting the first panel or slat to the second panel or slat, wherein the tonneau cover comprises one or more heating devices configured to increase or raise a temperature of one or more components of the tonneau cover.2) The tonneau cover according to claim 1, wherein the one or more heating devices are provided in a thickness of the hinge of the tonneau cover.3) The tonneau cover according to claim 2, herein the hinge comprises a groove in which the one or more heating devices are provided.4) The tonneau cover according to claim 1, wherein the one or more heating devices are provided below a structure or material thickness of the hinge.5) The tonneau cover according to any one of claims 1-3, wherein the hinge comprises a rigid material part and a compressible material part and the one or more heating devices are provided within the compressible material part.6) The tonneau cover according to any one of the previous claims, wherein the one or more heating devices are provided in a frame part of the tonneau cover and / or the first panel or slat.7) The tonneau cover according to any one of the previous claims, wherein the one or more heating devices are provided in a rail that is configured to be attached to the cargo area and on which the first panel or slat and the second panel or slat are supported.8) The tonneau cover according to any one of the previous claims, wherein the one or more heating devices comprise a resistive wire.9) The tonneau cover according to any one of the previous claims, wherein one or more heating devices comprises a heating mat or pad.10 The tonneau cover according to any one of the previous claims, wherein the one or more heating devices are provided in a thickness of the first panel or slat.11) The tonneau cover according to any one of the previous claims, wherein the one or more heating devices are provided below a structure of the first panel or slat.12) A method of operating the tonneau cover according to claim 1, the method comprising: acquiring, using a temperature sensor or a weather report, a real-time outdoor temperature; determining if the real-time outdoor temperature is below a predetermined temperature threshold; determining, using a precipitation sensor or the weather report, if precipitation is or will be present in an environment surrounding the tonneau cover; activating the one or more heating devices if the real-time outdoor temperature is below a predetermined temperature and / or if the precipitation is or will be present in the environment surrounding the tonneau cover.13) The method according to claim 12, wherein the method comprises determining a surface temperature of one or more elements of the tonneau cover, and the activating step comprises activating the one or more heating devices if the real-time outdoor temperature is below the predetermined temperature, and / or if the precipitation is or will be present in the environment surrounding the tonneau cover, and / or if the surface temperature of the one or more elements of the tonneau cover is below a predetermined threshold.14) The method according to claim 12 or 13, wherein one or more of the steps takes place before the vehicle is turned ON.15) The method according to claim 12 or 13, wherein one or more of the steps takes place after the vehicle is turned ON.16) The method according to claim 12, 13, 14, or 15 wherein one or more of the steps takes place in response to a user starting the vehicle; a front or rear window defrost or defogger is activated, one or more seat heaters are activated, the vehicle is put into a drive gear, or any combination thereof.17) The method according to any one of claims 12-16, wherein the one or more heating devices are in a wired communication with the one or more sensors or control device.
