Description

METHODS, NETWORK ENTITIES AND COMMUNICATION NETWORKS FOR INFORMATION TRANSFERTECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The non-limiting and exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to the technical field of communications, and specifically to methods, network entities and communication systems for information transfer.BACKGROUND

[0002] This section introduces aspects that may facilitate a better understanding of the present disclosure. Accordingly, the statements of this section are to be read in this light and are not to be understood as admissions about what is in the prior art or what is not in the prior art.

[0003] Support for Artificial Intelligence (AI)  / Machine Learning (ML) services in the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) system has been studied for providing AI / ML enabled analytics in Network Data Analytics Function (NWDAF) , as well as for assisting the Application Service Provider (ASP) or any 3rd party AI / ML application service provider for the AI / ML model distribution, transfer, training for various applications (e.g., video / speech recognition, robot control, automotive) .

[0004] As shown in FIG. 1 (also can be referred to Figure 8.1.2.3-1 in 3GPP Technical Report (TR) 23.700-82 Version (V) 0.3.0 (2024-03) , the application enablement layer (e.g., Service Enabler Architecture Layer for Verticals (SEAL) ) provides services to the application layer (e.g. Vertical Application Layer (VAL) ) . The application enablement layer includes application enablement entities, such as client (s) at the User Equipment (UE) side and application enablement server (s) at the server side. The application layer also includes application entities, such as application client (s) at the UE side and application server (s) at the server side. The AI / ML enablement servers communicate with the underlying 3GPP network systems using the respective 3GPP interfaces specified by the 3GPP network system.

[0005] To support AI / ML applications, the application enablement layer (also can be called as “AI / ML enablement layer” in the AI / ML scenario) can include a variety of services for enablement of AI / ML functionality, such as AI / ML maintaining the AI / ML process (also described as Key Issue #7 of 3GPP TR 23.700-82 V0.3.0 (2024-03) ) and transfer learning at application enablement layers (also described as Key Issue #6 of 3GPP TR 23.700-82 V0.3.0 (2024-03) ) .

[0006] The requirements to solve the above mentioned key issues may come from following scenario when a AL / ML member cannot finish an AI / ML task by itself. Here an AI / ML member can be an application enablement client, an application client, an application enablement server or an application server. Due to various reasons (e.g., changes of available resource, changes of available time) , an AI / ML member may find itself cannot finish the assigned AI / ML task during the performing process. How to complete the AI / ML task is still a problem to be solved.SUMMARY

[0007] This summary is provided to introduce a selection of concepts in a simplified form that are further described below in the detailed description. This summary is not intended to identify key features or essential features of the claimed subject matter, nor is it intended to be used to limit the scope of the claimed subject matter.

[0008] For the above mentioned scenario in which an AI / ML member (can be called as a “source AI / ML member” ) cannot finish an AI / ML task by itself. In order to save resource and time, intermediate information for the AI / ML task (e.g., intermediate results at the source AI / ML member) can be used by another AI / ML member (can be called as a “target AI / ML member” ) for further processing to complete the AI / ML task, without starting from the beginning.

[0009] Two solutions are provided to solve above problem in the present disclosure.

[0010] Solution 1: with a server’s assistance

[0011] In the first solution, a first network entity as a source AI / ML member may request a second network entity’s assistance in the intermediate information transfer for the AI / ML task. The second network entity may implement an AI / ML server, which may discover and select a third network entity as a target AI / ML member to complete the unfinished AI / ML task. Intermediate information for the AI / ML task may be sent by the first network entity directly or via the second network entity to the third network entity.

[0012] The first solution may be used in such a scenario that the first network entity does not know any available network entity which can be a target AI / ML to continue an unfinished AI / ML task at the first network entity. The second network entity may have a central control of the intermediate information transfer, assisting in discovering and selecting a third network entity as a target AI / ML member; helping transmitting necessary information between the first network entity and the third network entity, such as information of the unfinished AI / ML task, information of the intermediate information to be transferred etc. from the first network entity to the third network entity; helping acquisition of information for the availability of the third network entity and coordinating execution on the intermediate information transfer between the first network entity and the third network entity. With the central control function, the second network entity has abundant information about AI / ML members, which can help find a target AI / ML member quickly and coordinate the intermediate information transfer efficiently.

[0013] In a first aspect of the first solution, a method for information transfer is provided, which can be performed by a first network entity as an AI / ML member. In the method, the first network entity may send to a second network entity implementing an AI / ML server, a first request for assisting intermediate information transfer for an AI / ML task; and receive from the second network entity a first response comprising assistance information for the intermediate information transfer from the first network entity to a third network entity as another AI / ML member.

[0014] In a second aspect of the first solution, a method for information transfer is provided, which can be implemented by a second network entity implementing an AI / ML server. In the method, the second network entity may receive from a first network entity as an AI / ML member a first request for assisting intermediate information transfer for an AI / ML task; and determine a third network entity as another AI / ML member to continue the AI / ML task. The second network entity may receive from the third network entity, a second response comprising information for availability of execution on the intermediate information transfer for the AI / ML task; and generate the assistance information based on the information for availability of execution on the intermediate information transfer and send to the first network entity for the execution of the intermediate information transfer.

[0015] In a third aspect of the first solution, a method for information transfer is provided, which can be performed by a third network entity as an AI / ML member. In the method, the third network entity may receive from a second network entity implementing an AI / ML server a second request for intermediate information transfer for an AI / ML task for a first network entity as another AI / ML member. The third network entity may send to the second network entity a second response comprising information for availability of execution on the intermediate information transfer for the AI / ML task.

[0016] In a fourth aspect of the first solution, a network entity is provided, which comprises at least one processor and at least one memory. The at least one memory contains instructions executable by the at least one processor, whereby the network entity is operative to execute any method according to the first, second or the third aspect of the first solution.

[0017] In a fifth aspect of the first solution, a network entity is provided, which comprises modules executing the method according to the first, second or the third aspect of the first solution.

[0018] In a sixth aspect of the first solution, a communication system is provided, which may comprise the first network entity according to the first aspect of the first solution, the second network entity according to the second aspect of the first solution and the third network entity according to the third aspect of the first solution.

[0019] In a seventh aspect of the first solution, a computer readable storage medium is provided, which stores thereon instructions. When the instructions are executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform the method according to first aspect, the second aspect, or the third aspect of the first solution.

[0020] In an eighth aspect of the first solution, a computer program product is provided. The computer program product comprises instructions. When the instructions are executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform the method according to first aspect, the second aspect, or the third aspect of the first solution.

[0021] In a ninth aspect of the present disclosure, a carrier containing the instructions of the eighth aspect is provided. In some embodiments, the carrier may be one of an electronic signal, optical signal, radio signal, or computer readable storage medium.

[0022] Solution 2: without a server’s assistance

[0023] In a second solution, a fourth network entity as a source AI / ML member may directly request a fifth network entity as another AI / ML member to continue an unfinished AI / ML task, without a server’s assistance. The fourth network entity may send to the fifth network entity a request for intermediate information transfer for an AI / ML task, after receiving the request the fifth network entity may authenticate and authorize the request and check its availability to continue the AI / ML task, then send to the fourth network entity a response including information for availability of execution on the intermediate information transfer for the AI / ML task.

[0024] The second solution may be used in such a scenario that the fourth network entity knows the fifth network entity as a target AI / ML member. The fourth network entity can directly request the fifth network entity to complete the AI / ML task and transfer the intermediate information for the AI / ML task to the fifth network entity. The direct request and response and information transfer can save interactions with a central server, which is an efficient way to continue an AI / ML task in the circumstances that a target AI / ML member is already known at the source AI / ML member.

[0025] In a first aspect of the second solution, a method for information transfer is provided, which can be performed by a fourth network entity as an AI / ML member. In the method, the fourth network entity may send to a fifth network entity as another AI / ML member a third request for intermediate information transfer for an AI / ML task. The fourth network entity may receive from the fifth network entity a third response comprising information for availability of execution on the intermediate information transfer for the AI / ML task.

[0026] In a second aspect of the second solution, a method for information transfer is provided, which can be implemented by a fifth network entity as an AI / ML member. In the method, the fifth network entity may receive from a fourth network entity as another AI / ML member a third request for intermediate information transfer for an AI / ML task. The fifth network entity may send to the fourth network entity, a third response comprising information for availability of execution on the intermediate information transfer for the AI / ML task.

[0027] In a third aspect of the second solution, a network entity is provided, which comprises at least one processor and at least one memory. The at least one memory contains instructions executable by the at least one processor, whereby the network entity is operative to execute any method according to the first or the second aspect of the second solution.

[0028] In a fourth aspect of the second solution, a network entity is provided, which comprises modules executing the method according to the first or the second aspect of the second solution.

[0029] In a fifth aspect of the second solution, a communication system is provided, which may comprise the fourth network entity according to the first aspect of the second solution, the fifth network entity according to the second aspect of the second solution.

[0030] In a sixth aspect of the second solution, a computer readable storage medium is provided, which stores thereon instructions. When the instructions are executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform the method according to first aspect or the second aspect of the second solution.

[0031] In a seventh aspect of the second solution, a computer program product is provided. The computer program product comprises instructions. When the instructions are executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform the method according to first aspect or the second aspect of the second solution.

[0032] In an eighth aspect of the present disclosure, a carrier containing the instructions of the seventh aspect is provided. In some embodiments, the carrier may be one of an electronic signal, optical signal, radio signal, or computer readable storage medium.

[0033] For any above aspect of either of the two solutions, in some embodiments, the request sent by the network entity as a source AI / ML member may comprise: information of the AI / ML task and / or information of the intermediate information transfer. In the first solution, the request is the first request sent to the second network entity for assisting intermediate information transfer for the AI / ML task, the second network entity can be based on the information included in the first request to discover and select a target AI / ML member, and further forward the information to the selected target AI / ML member for the target AI / ML member to authenticate, authorize the request and determine availability to continue the AI / ML task. In the second solution, the request is the third request sent to the fifth network entity as a target AI / ML member, which can also be based on the included information to determine availability to continue the AI / ML task.

[0034] For any above aspect of either of the two solutions, in some embodiments, the response from the target AI / ML member may comprise information for availability of execution on the intermediate information transfer, based on which, in the first solution, the second network entity in the first solution can generate assistance information for the source AI / ML member to execute the intermediate information transfer to the target AI / ML member; in the second solution the fourth network entity as the source AI / ML member can execute the intermediate information transfer to the target AI / ML member.

[0035] Embodiments herein may provide many advantages, of which a non-exhaustive list of examples follows. With the indication. The embodiments herein are not limited to the features and advantages mentioned above. A person skilled in the art will recognize additional features and advantages upon reading the following detailed description.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0051] Network entities in the present disclosure may support AI / ML applications, so they can be called as “AI / ML network entities” , which may include AI / ML clients and AI / ML servers. Referring to the FIG. 1, the AI / ML network entities can be in different layers in the functional architecture, some may be in the application layer, others may be in the application enablement layer. The AI / ML network entities in the application layer can be called as “AI / ML application servers” and “AI / ML application clients” , the AI / ML network entities in the application enablement layer can be called as “AI / ML enablement servers” and “AI / ML enablement clients” . A network entity which can perform an AI / ML task can be called a “AI / ML member” . An AI / ML task can be an AI / ML model distribution, transfer, training (e.g., traditional centralized machine learning, distributed machine learning, Federated Learning, split learning, transfer learning, etc. ) , inference" ; and it can be for various applications (e.g., video / speech recognition, robot control, automotive) .

[0052] The term “terminal device” refers to any end device that can access a network and receive services therefrom. By way of example and not limitation, the terminal device refers to a mobile terminal, user equipment (UE) , or other suitable devices. The UE may be, for example, a Subscriber Station (SS) , a Portable Subscriber Station, a Mobile Station (MS) , or an Access Terminal (AT) . The terminal device may include, but not limited to, a portable computer, an image capture terminal device such as a digital camera, a gaming terminal device, a music storage and a playback appliance, a mobile phone, a cellular phone, a smart phone, a voice over IP (VoIP) phone, a wireless local loop phone, a tablet, a wearable device, a personal digital assistant (PDA) , a portable computer, a desktop computer, a wearable terminal device, a vehicle-mounted wireless terminal device, a wireless endpoint, a mobile station, a laptop-embedded equipment (LEE) , a laptop-mounted equipment (LME) , a USB dongle, a smart device, a wireless customer-premises equipment (CPE) and the like. In the following description, the terms “terminal device” , “terminal” , “user equipment” and “UE” may be used interchangeably. As one example, a terminal device may represent a UE configured for communication in accordance with one or more communication standards promulgated by the 3GPP, such as 3GPP’s LTE standard or NR standard. As used herein, a “user equipment” or “UE” may not necessarily have a “user” in the sense of a human user who owns and / or operates the relevant device. In some embodiments, a terminal device may be configured to transmit and / or receive information without direct human interaction. For instance, a terminal device may be designed to transmit information to a network on a predetermined schedule, when triggered by an internal or external event, or in response to requests from the communication network. Instead, a UE may represent a device that is intended for sale to, or operation by, a human user but that may not initially be associated with a specific human user.

[0053] As yet another example, in an Internet of Things (IoT) scenario, a terminal device may represent a machine or other device that performs monitoring and / or measurements, and transmits the results of such monitoring and / or measurements to another terminal device and / or network equipment. The terminal device may in this case be a machine-to-machine (M2M) device, which may in a 3GPP context be referred to as a machine-type communication (MTC) device. As one particular example, the terminal device may be a UE implementing the 3GPP narrow band internet of things (NB-IoT) standard. Particular examples of such machines or devices are sensors, metering devices such as power meters, industrial machinery, or home or personal appliances, for example refrigerators, televisions, personal wearables such as watches etc. In other scenarios, a terminal device may represent a vehicle or other equipment that is capable of monitoring and / or reporting on its operational status or other functions associated with its operation.

[0054] A network entity as an AI / ML member can perform AI / ML tasks. An AI / ML task may include at least one AI / ML operation. For example, a Federated Learning process (an AI / ML task) may contain multiple rounds of trainings, each round of training can be seen as one AI / ML operation. An AI / ML member may perform an AI / ML task and find that some operations cannot be finished by itself, or one operation cannot be finished by itself, both can result in an unfinished AI / ML task. The AI / ML member may try to find another AI / ML member to continue the AI / ML task. For the unfinished AI / ML task, the first AI / ML member doesn’ t complete the AI / ML task can be called as a “source AI / ML member” , and the second AI / ML member is going to continue the AI / ML task can be called as a “target AI / ML member” .

[0055] To have the AI / ML task continued at the target AI / ML member, the source AI / ML member may transfer intermediate information (or called as “intermediate data” ) for the AI / ML task to the target AI / ML member. To be noted that a source AI / ML member may send the intermediate information to target AI / ML member to continue the AI / ML task, or to multiple target AI / ML members, for them to complete the AI / ML task together. Here we take one target AI / ML member as an example, the mechanism of intermediate information transfer can also be applicable to multiple target AI / ML members’ scenario. The intermediate information to be transferred may include but not limited to at least one of:

[0056] - status of the AI / ML task;

[0057] - status of an unfinished operation for the AI / ML task;

[0058] - result of the AI / ML task; and

[0059] - result of an unfinished operation for the AI / ML task.

[0060] There may be two situations for an unfinished AI / ML task:

[0061] Situation 1: at least one operation for the AI / ML task has been completed, and a new operation for the AI / ML task hasn’t been started.

[0062] Situation 2: an operation for the AI / ML task has been started but not completed.

[0063] For the situation 1, the intermediate information may include the status of the AI / ML task and the result of the AI / ML task; for the situation 2, the intermediate information may include not only the status and result of the AI / ML task, but the status and the result of the unfinished operation for the AI / ML task.

[0064] For the above mentioned two solutions, the source AI / ML member either sends directly a request to the target AI / ML member for intermediate information transfer, or sends a request to a second network entity implementing an AI / ML server to assist the intermediate information transfer. In either request, the source AI / ML member may include description on the intermediate information to be transferred. The requests may include but not limited to at least one of:

[0065] - type of the AI / ML task (e.g., model distribution, mode transfer, training, etc. ) ;

[0066] - type of an unfinished operation for the AI / ML task (e.g., in a Federated Learning process (an AI / ML task) , multiple rounds of training may be needed. Due to various reasons, the training in one round cannot be finished, the intermediate training status and results may need be transferred to another AI / ML member to continue the unfinished round and the rest rounds of training. ) ;

[0067] - type of intermediate information to be transferred as mentioned above;

[0068] - at least one requirement on the intermediate information transfer (e.g., data volume of the intermediate information to be transferred, expected time for finishing the transfer, transfer Quality of Service (QoS) , requirements on the target AI / ML member on available resource and / or time, etc. ) .

[0069] The target AI / ML member may respond with information for availability of execution on the intermediate information transfer, which may include available time and / or resource for the intermediate information transfer, which can be used by the second network entity to generate assistance information for the source AI / ML member to perform the intermediate information transfer in the solution 1, or by the source AI / ML member to perform the intermediate information transfer in the solution 2.

[0070] In solution 1, the assistance information generated by the second network entity may include at least one of:

[0071] - information of the third network entity;

[0072] - information for execution on the intermediate information transfer from the first network entity to the third network entity (e.g., execution time and / or resource for the intermediate information transfer) .

[0073] The communications between the network entities in the present disclosure may comply with any suitable communication standards such as new radio (NR) , long term evolution (LTE) , LTE-Advanced, wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) , high-speed packet access (HSPA) , Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , Time Division Multiple Address (TDMA) , Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) , Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) , Single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) and other wireless systems. A CDMA network may implement a radio technology such as Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (UTRA) , etc. UTRA includes WCDMA and other variants of CDMA. A TDMA network may implement a radio technology such as Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) . An OFDMA network may implement a radio technology such as Evolved UTRA (E-UTRA) , Ultra Mobile Broadband (UMB) , IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi) , IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX) , IEEE 802.20, Flash-OFDMA, Ad-hoc network, wireless sensor network, etc. In the following description, the terms “network” and “system” can be used interchangeably. Furthermore, the communication between two devices in the network may be performed according to any suitable communication protocols, including, but not limited to, the communication protocols as defined by a standard organization such as 3GPP. For example, the communication protocols may comprise the first generation (1G) , 2G, 3G, 4G, 4.5G, 5G communication protocols, and / or any other protocols either currently known or to be developed in the future.

[0074] The solution of the present disclosure will be described in detail with reference to FIG. 2 to FIG. 13.

[0075] FIG. 2 shows an exemplary communication network 100 in accordance with some embodiments according to above mentioned solution 1.

[0076] As shown in FIG. 2, the communication network 100 may include:

[0077] - a first network entity 10 as an AI / ML member;

[0078] - a second network entity 20 implementing an AI / ML server; and

[0079] - a third network entity 30 as another AI / ML member.

[0080] The first network entity 10 may request the second network entity 20’s assistance for intermediate information transfer for an unfinished AI / ML task. The second network entity 20 may determine the third network entity 30 to continue the AI / ML task. The second network entity 20 may request the third network entity 20 to continue the AI / ML task and get information of availability for the intermediate information transfer from the third network entity 30, based on which the second network entity may generate assistance information and send to the first network entity 10. The first network entity 10 may be based on the assistance information to perform the intermediate information transfer for the AI / ML task to the third network entity 30. Here, the first network entity 10 can be seen as a source AI / ML member, and the third network entity 30 can be seen as a target AI / ML member. The first network entity 10 and the third network entity 30 can be an AI / ML enablement client, an AI / ML application client, an AI / ML enablement server or an AI / ML application server. The second network entity 20 can be an AI / ML enablement server or an AI / ML application server.

[0081] Exemplary procedures of the network entities in the communication networks 100 can be referred to FIG. 4 to FIG. 7 and FIG. 11, and will be describe in detail later.

[0082] FIG. 3 shows another exemplary communication network 200 in accordance with some embodiments according to above mentioned solution 2.

[0083] As shown in FIG. 3, the communication network 200 may include:

[0084] - a fourth network entity 40 as an AI / ML member; and

[0085] - a fifth network entity 50 as another AI / ML member.

[0086] The fourth network entity 40 may request the fifth network entity 50 to continue the AI / ML task. The fifth network entity 50 may authenticate and / or authorize the request from the fourth network entity 40. The fifth network entity 50 may also check its availability to continue the AI / ML task as to resource and / or time. The fifth network entity 50 may respond with information of availability for the intermediate information transfer to the fourth network entity 40. Based on which the fourth network entity 40 may perform the intermediate information transfer to the fifth network entity 50. Here, the fourth network entity 40 can be seen as a source AI / ML member, and the fifth network entity 50 can be seen as a target AI / ML member. The fourth network entity 40 and the fifth network entity 50 can be an AI / ML enablement client, an AI / ML application client, an AI / ML enablement server or an AI / ML application server.

[0087] Exemplary procedures of the network entities in the communication networks 200 can be referred to FIG. 8, FIG. 9 and FIG. 12, and will be described in detail later.

[0088] FIG. 4 is a schematic signaling chart of method 300 illustrating interactions between network entities in some embodiments according to above mentioned solution 1.

[0089] As shown in FIG. 4, in step S301, the first network entity 10 may send to the second network entity 20 a first request for assisting intermediate information transfer for an AI / ML task. The first network entity 10 may send the first request if the first network entity 10 cannot finish the AI / ML task by itself; or send the first request if the first network entity 10 cannot finish an operation for the AI / ML task by itself.

[0090] The first request may include following description on the intermediate information transfer, which may be used by the second network entity 20 to determine a third network entity 30 to continue the AI / ML task, and / or by the third network entity 30 to check its availability to continue the AI / ML task. The first request may include type of the AI / ML task, type of an unfinished operation for the AI / ML task, type of the intermediate information to be transferred, and / or at least one requirement on the intermediate information transfer. The first request may also include the information of the first network entity 10, such as the identifier, network address or location.

[0091] After receiving the first request, in step S302, the second network entity 20 may determine a third network entity 30 as another AI / ML member to continue the AI / ML task.

[0092] Once determining the third network entity 30, in step S303, the second network entity 20 may send to the first network entity 10 a first response comprising assistance information for the intermediate information transfer from the first network entity 10 to the third network entity 30.

[0093] After receiving the first response, the first network entity 10 may be based on the assistance information to perform the intermediate information transfer to the third network entity 30.

[0094] There are two options for the intermediate information transfer.

[0095] Option 1, the first network entity 10 may transfer the intermediate information directly to the third network entity 30 (in step S304 shown in FIG. 4) .

[0096] Option 2, the first network entity 10 may transfer the intermediate information via the second network entity 20 to the third network entity 30 (in step S305 shown in FIG. 4) .

[0097] Optionally, for the intermediate information transfer, a connection may be firstly set up between the network entities, and a negotiation of the time and resource for execution on the intermediate information transfer can be conducted between the network entities, then the intermediate information can be transferred at the decided time with the decided resource.

[0098] For the option 1, the second network entity 20 may include the information of the first network entity 10 in the second request and sends to the third network entity 30. The third network entity 30 may determine to perform the intermediate information transfer for the AI / ML task directly with the first network entity 10. The third network entity 30 may include an indicator indicating direct intermediate information transfer for the AI / ML task between source and target AI / ML members and also include the information of the third network entity 30. The second network entity 20 may include the indicator and the information of the third network entity 30 in first response to the first network entity 10. As indicated by the indicator, and with the two network entities knowing each other’s information, the first network entity 10 may perform the intermediate information transfer directly to the third network entity 30 based on assistance information received from second network entity 20 in step S303. The first network entity 10 may initiate the direct transfer process based on its local configuration. Or the third network entity 30 may initiate the direct transfer process, optionally, the first network entity 10 may further authorize the direct transfer request from the third network entity 30 if a direct transfer indicator is also received in step S303.

[0099] In step S302, the second network entity 10 may in the sub step S3021, discovering at least one network entity as an AI / ML member and select one or more from the discovered network entities as the third network entity (es) .

[0100] For a selected third network entity 30, the second network entity 20 may in the sub step S3022, send to the third network function 30, a second request for intermediate information transfer for the AI / ML task for the first network entity 10, the second request may include the description on the intermediate information transfer received by the second network entity 20 from the first request and optionally include the information of the first network entity 10.

[0101] After receiving the second request, the third network entity 30 may in sub step S3023 authenticate and / or authorize the second request. The third network entity 30 may be based on the received information of the first network entity 10 to authenticate and authorize the second request.

[0102] If the second request is authorized, the third network entity 30 may in sub step S3024 check the availability to continue the AI / ML task. It may check its available resource and time, and based on the information received in the second request (such as data volume to be transferred, the type of the AI / ML task, the type of the unfinished AI / ML operation, etc. ) , determine whether it can continue the AI / ML task and the available time and resource to receive the transferred intermediate information for the AI / ML task.

[0103] If there is no available time or resource, the third network entity 30 may reject the second request by sending a rejection message to the second network entity 20. Otherwise, the third network entity 30 may in sub step S3025, send to the second network entity 20, a second response comprising information for availability of execution on the intermediate information transfer for the AI / ML task. The second response may also comprise an indicator indicating the third network entity 30’s preference as to direct intermediate information transfer or transfer via the second network entity 20 (that is a central server-control mode) .

[0104] After receiving the second response with the information for availability of execution on the intermediate information transfer for the AI / ML task, the second network entity 20 may in sub step S3026, generate the assistance information based on the information for availability of execution on the intermediate information transfer. The assistance information may include information of the third network entity 30 (e.g., identifier, network address, location etc. ) , information for execution on the intermediate information transfer from the first network entity 10 to the third network entity 30. In sub step S3026, the second network entity 20 may also determine the intermediate information transfer mode, that is whether the intermediate information for the AI / ML task is transferred directly from the first network entity 10 to the third network entity 30, or via the second network entity 20. The second network entity 20 may determine based on the information of the first network entity 10 and the third network entity 30, such as locations of the first network entity 10 and the third network entity 30, requirement on transfer QoS, the requirement on server-controlled transfer as indicated by the indicator in the second response in step S3025.

[0148] FIG. 11 shows an exemplary procedure in some embodiments according to the above mentioned solution 1.

[0149] Pre-conditions of the procedure is as followed: the information of target AI / ML member (e.g. another AI / ML Enablement Client or VAL Client different from the source AI / ML member) is unknown at the source AI / ML member. The source AI / ML member decides that assistance from the AI / ML Enablement Server is needed.

[0150] The procedure may include following steps:

[0151] Step 1. the source AI / ML member (e.g. an AI / ML Enablement Client) sends request to AI / ML Enablement Server for assisting intermediate AI / ML information transfer. The request message contains:

[0152] - type of the AI / ML operation (e.g. ML model training) ;

[0153] - type of the intermediate information to be transferred (e.g. intermediate AI / ML operation status, intermediate AI / ML operation results)

[0154] - requirement on the server-controlled intermediate information transfer (e.g. data volume, except time for finishing the transfer, requirement on the target AI / ML member on available resource and time)

[0155] Step 2. the AI / ML Enablement Server discovers other AI / ML members (e.g. other AI / ML Enablement Clients) , and selects one or more target AI / ML member (s) based on the request from the source AI / ML member.

[0156] Step 3. the AI / ML Enablement Server sends request to the selected target AI / ML member (s) for intermediate information transfer. The request message contains the information received in the request message from the source AI / ML member in step 1, and may contain the information of the source AI / ML member.

[0157] Step 4. the target AI / ML member (s) authenticates and authorizes the request from the AI / ML Enablement Server. If the request is authorized, the target AI / ML member (s) performs step 5.

[0158] Step 5. the target AI / ML member (s) responds to the AI / ML Enablement Server with information (e.g. available time for continue the AI / ML operation) . If the information of the source AI / ML member is contained in the request message in step 3, the target AI / ML member (s) may determine to interact with the source AI / ML member directly based on its local configuration. The response message may contain an indication on direct transfer.

[0159] Step 6. the AI / ML Enablement Server determines the transfer mode, i.e. transfer with server-controlled or transfer directly from the source AI / ML member to the target AI / ML member, according to the information of the source and the target AI / ML members (e.g. the location of the source and the target AI / ML members, requirement on transfer QoS, the requirement on server-controlled transfer in the request in step 1, the indication on direct transfer in the response in step 5) .

[0160] Step 7. if target AI / ML member (s) is discovered based on the steps 2-5, the AI / ML Enablement Server generates assistance information for the transfer of intermediate AI / ML operation information from the source AI / ML member to the target AI / ML member (s) (e.g. time window for the transfer) , may contain the indication of direct transfer if it is contained in the response message in step 5.

[0161] Step 8. The AI / ML Enablement Server responses to the source AI / ML member with the information of the target AI / ML member (s) , and assistance information generated in step 6. The response message may contain the information of the target AI / ML member and an indication of direct transfer if it is decided in step 6.

[0162] Step 9. the intermediate AI / ML operation information may be transferred directly between the source and target AI / ML members as shown in step 9b, or via the AI / ML Enablement Server (e.g. AI / ML Enablement Server controlled information transfer between two AI / ML members) as shown in step 9a.

[0163] If transfer directly, the source AI / ML member performs information transfer to the target AI / ML member (s) based on assistance information received from the AI / ML Enablement Server in step 7. The source AI / ML member may initiate the directly transfer process based on its local configuration. Or the target AI / ML member may initiate the directly transfer process, the source AI / ML member may authorize the direct transfer request from the target AI / ML member if the direct transfer indication is received from step 7.

And in Key Issue #6 on support for transfer learning, the study of following aspect is required: - How to support transfer learning at application enablement layers? Due to various reasons (e.g., changes of available resource, changes of available time) , an AI / ML member may find  itself cannot finish the assigned AI / ML task during the performing process. To save resource and time, the intermediate results at the AI / ML member (source AI / ML member) can be used by another AI / ML member (target AI / ML member) for furthur operitons to complete the AI / ML task, without need to start from the beginning. In this case, the transfer of intermediate status and results from the source AI / ML member to the target AI / ML member is needed. This pCR proposes solutoin for transfer of intermediate AI / ML operaton information (e.g. intermediate AI / ML status  and results) from the source AI / ML member to the target AI / ML member. 2. Reason for Change To support the maintenance of an AI / ML process and to support transfer learning at application enablement layers,  assistance the transfer of intermediate AI / ML operaton status and results is required. Study mechanisms on supporting the transfer of intermediate AI / ML operaton status and results from source AI / ML member to target AI / ML member is needed. 3. Conclusions This pCR proposes solution on support the transfer of intermediate AI / ML operaton informaiton. 4. Proposal
