[0005] A board game is a type of tabletop game that involves small objects such as pawns or game pieces that are positioned and moved in certain ways on a specially designed patterned game board. Board games further include other components such as dice, certain cards, etc. However, certain board games also colloquially include games that do not include game boards at all. The earliest known uses of the term "board game" are between the 1840s and 1850s. There are records of a chess-like boardgame being played as early as the Bronze Age, around 5000 years ago. Currently, Senet is argued to be the oldest known board game in the world, with possible game board fragments and undisputed pictorial representations having been found in Predynastic and First Dynasty burials dating as far back as 3500 BC. Board games have a long history all over the world. Right from the Ancient Greek game petteia, Kriegsspiel, war-gaming developed in 19th century Prussia, Fidchell boards of Ireland right upto the early lotteries by dice of the United Kingdom are examples of board games. In India, board games such as Ashtapada, chess, pachisi, chaupar were popular in Ancient India. Carrom is another game that is classified to be a board game from India. Board games are widely used for recreation and strategic play, typically involving a game board, movable game pieces (pawns), and a set of rules. Conventional board games are often limited in the number of players they can accommodate commonly up to four, and typically involve fixed-size boards, limiting scalability and gameplay flexibility. There has emerged a requirement of games that may be played by persons needing not added skill and minimum strategy. This leads to a limited playing audience. The Patent application WO2012011942A2, to Mimi Kingsley describes a Board game with a board of 49 squares. The players take turns and move coloured tiles in a clockwise manner. The players then engage with each other’s tiles and try to block the opponent’s tile. However, this game is complex and requires understanding of multiple rules. It also is time consuming and not adaptable to a large number of players or different time frames.

[0008] The Patent Application GB2080126A, to Maltby John Ian Shaun, et al teaches a board game with 12 x 12 dots; all of them being the same colour except for two master dots. This game specifically is for two players and each player has 24 pieces. The objective of this game is to hamper the opponent’s pieces by manoeuvreing one’s pieces. It is noted that this game, however, is not expandable so as to allow more players to play, and that is playable between only two players. Further it has time constraint and cannot be played with low time limits.

[0009] There is a need for a board game that includes an expandable, modular game board including multiple cells, enabling gameplay by more than four players simultaneously. Additionally, there is a need for a board game incorporating stackable pawns with structural features that allow stable interlocking and secure positioning during gameplay, thereby enhancing strategic complexity and physical stability of game elements.

[0010] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:

[0011] The present invention discloses multiple cell expandable board game including a planar game board with a plurality of concentrically arranged frames, each frame defining a distinct play zone and collectively forming a structured grid. The game board also includes a plurality of first-type cells and second-type cells, each substantially circular, equidistant to each other, and dimensioned approximately equal to one another. The first-type cells are positioned along the perimeters of the frames, and the second-type cells are positioned within the spaces between adjacent frames and at the centre of the game board, such that said arrangement of cells defines a grid pattern including dash-and-circle formations corresponding to each frame.

A fifth step of blocking pawns of a different colour by stacking pawns resulting in towers of pawns. A sixth step of jumping of pawns over towers of pawns if the bottom most pawn in the tower is of the same colour as that of the jumping pawn. A seventh step of at least one pawn of a set of pawns arriving at another side of the predefined frame on which pawns are being manoeuvreed and a final step of detaching the game boards, folding and storing the game board as per the user’ s requirement.

Claims

CLAIMS:

1. A multiple cell expandable board game (100) comprising: a. a planar game board (104) including a plurality of concentrically arranged frames (108, 112, 116, 120), each frame defining a distinct play zone and collectively forming a structured grid; b. a plurality of first-type cells (124) and second-type cells (128), each being substantially circular, equidistantly positioned, and dimensioned approximately equal to one another, wherein the first- type cells (124) are positioned along the perimeters of the frames (108, 112, 116, 120), and the second-type cells (128) are positioned within the spaces between adjacent frames and at the centre of the game board (104), such that said arrangement of cells defines a grid pattern including dash-and-circle formations corresponding to each frame; c. a plurality of pawns (220), each pawn including: a cylindrical body with a circular base and a dome-shaped top projection (304), the top projection defining a circumferential step (308), and an internal cavity and a set of internal ribs (404) configured to receive and lock onto the step (308) of another pawn, thereby allowing axial stacking of two or more pawns;wherein said plurality of pawns (220) is categorized into at least four distinct colour-coded sets, each set comprising a predefined number of pawns, and wherein pawns of each set are initially positioned on the game board (104) in two aligned files a first file on the first- type cells (124) and a second file on adjacent second-type cells (128); and the game board (104) being scalable, the scalability being achieved by modular interconnection of a plurality of game board units (604) via removably attachable fixtures located along the sides of each unit, such that the overall dimensions and shape of the game board being selectively expandable or reducible based on user preference or the number of players.

The multiple cell expandable board game (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first frame (108) being defined by a bold line, the second frame (112) being defined by a set of three lines, the third frame (116) being defined by a set of two lines and the fourth frame (120) being defined by a single line and the number of frames being scalable according to scaling of the game board (104) itself.

The multiple cell expandable board game (100) as claimed in claim 1 and 2, wherein each set of pawns preferably includes 15 pawns of a single colour and each set of pawns is positioned on one side of the frame (108, 112, 116, 120) such that preferably 8 pawns being positioned on the first type cells (124) of the frame and 7 pawns being positioned on the inner adjacent file of second type pawns (128) during game play.

4. The multiple cell expandable board game (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein pawns (220) being stackable on each other, irrespective of the colour of pawns (220) thereby defining towers of pawns during game play.

5. The multiple cell expandable board game (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein each pawn (220) including a plurality of ribs (404) on the inner side of the pawn (220) preventing stacked pawns from slipping or falling down.

The multiple cell expandable board game (100) as claimed in claim 1 wherein the expanded game board (104) defining added frames (108’, 112’, 116’, 120’) as per the number of game boards (604’, 604”) being attached to the game board (104) allowing increased number of players to play the game at the same time.

7. The multiple cell expandable board game (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the game board (104) being made of cardboard, coated with plastic and the pawns (220) being manufactured of plastic for smooth movement of pawns (220) on the game board (104).

8. The multiple cell expandable board game (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein each of the pawn being manoeuvred in a straight or diagonal manner onto either first type cells (124) or second type cells (128) only during game play.

9. The multiple cell expandable board game (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein pawns (220) being manoeuvred till at least one pawn (220) of a set arrives onto a cell (124, 128) on another side of the particular frame (108, 112, 116, 120).

10. The multiple cell expandable board game (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein blocked zones (904) being defined by a predefined number of pawns being positioned on the central part of the game board (104) blocking the certain cells before the start of game play.

11. The multiple cell expandable board game (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the game being playable by one or more players as per the scale of the game board (104).

12. A method for playing the multiple cell expandable board game as claimed in claim 1, comprising the steps of:Unfolding the game board (104) of the board game (100);Attaching other game boards (604’, 604”) to the game board (104), thereby defining a larger game board (104);Arranging the sets of pawns (220) on the game board (104) depending on the number of users and the frames (108, 112, 116, 120) being manoeuvred on the board (104);Manoeuvring pawns (220) diagonally or in a straight line and this step being repeated by all users;Blocking pawns (220) of a different colour by stacking pawns (220) resulting in towers of pawns (804);Jumping of pawns (220) over towers of pawns (220) if the bottom most pawn in the tower is of the same colour as that of the jumping pawn (220);At least one pawn (220) of a set of pawns arriving at another side of the predefined frame (108, 112, 116, 120) on which pawns are being manoeuvred; andDetaching the game boards (604’, 604”), folding and storing the game board (104) as per the user’s requirement.
