[0021] Hereinafter, embodiments of a reel seat and a fishing rod according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. Components common to multiple drawings are designated by the same reference numerals throughout the multiple drawings. Please note that the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale for the sake of convenience.
[0022] 1 is a diagram illustrating a fishing rod according to one embodiment of the present invention. As shown in the figure, the fishing rod 1 according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises a rod body 2, a reel 6 attached to the rod body 2 via a reel seat 9 equipped with a cover member 30 (described below), and a fishing line guide 10 attached to the rod body 2. In the illustrated embodiment, the reel seat 9 and the fishing line guide 10 each correspond to an attachment part attached to the outer circumferential surface of the rod body.
[0023] The rod body 2 is constructed by connecting, for example, a butt rod 3, a middle rod 5, and a tip rod 7. These rod bodies are joined, for example, using a straight joint. The butt rod 3, middle rod 5, and tip rod 7 can be joined using a telescoping system, a reverse straight joint system, a spigot joint system, or any other known joining system. The rod body 2 may also be constructed from a single rod body.
[0024] The butt rod 3, middle rod 5, and tip rod 7 are each constructed, for example, as a tubular body made of fiber-reinforced resin. This fiber-reinforced resin tubular body is produced by winding a fiber-reinforced resin prepreg (prepreg sheet), in which reinforcing fibers are impregnated with a matrix resin, around a core and then heating and curing the prepreg sheet. The reinforcing fibers contained in the prepreg sheet can be, for example, carbon fiber, glass fiber, or any other known reinforcing fiber. The matrix resin contained in the prepreg sheet can be a thermosetting resin such as epoxy resin. After the prepreg sheet has cured, the core is removed. The outer surface of the tubular body is polished as appropriate. Each rod body may also be constructed in a solid shape.
[0025] In the illustrated embodiment, the butt rod 3, middle rod 5, and tip rod 7 are provided with a plurality of line guides 10 (line guides 10A to 10D) that guide the fishing line that is let out from the reel 6 attached to the reel seat 9. More specifically, the butt rod 3 is provided with line guide 10A, the middle rod 5 is provided with line guide 10B, and the tip rod 7 is provided with line guide 10C. A top guide 10D is provided at the tip of the tip rod 7, but details will be omitted.
[0026] Next, with reference to FIG. 2 , the basic configuration of a reel seat 9 including a reel seat body 12 according to one embodiment of the present invention will be described. The cover member 30 will be described later. As shown in the figure, the reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention includes a reel seat body 12 having a reel leg support portion (reel leg support surface) 12a along its axial direction on which the reel leg 6a of the fishing reel 6 is placed. The reel seat body 12 is formed into a cylindrical shape as a whole. The reel seat body 12 is formed from an appropriate material such as synthetic resin (e.g., polyamide synthetic resin, ABS resin, etc.) or metal (e.g., SUS, aluminum, titanium, brass, etc.). The reel seat body 12 can be configured to have a length of, for example, 60-160 mm, but is not limited to this.
[0027] As shown in the figure, the reel seat body 12 has a first side surface 13a and a second side surface 13b extending from both ends of the reel leg mounting portion (reel leg mounting surface) 12a in the short direction (only the first side surface is visible from the direction shown in FIG. 2). In addition, a fixed hood 21 is integrally disposed at one end (the rod base side) of the reel seat body 12, and one end of the reel leg mounting surface 12a of the reel seat body 12 is disposed inside the fixed hood 21.
[0028] A movable hood 22 is attached to the other end (rod butt side) of the reel seat body 12 so as to be movable in the axial direction. In this specification, the reel seat body 12, the movable hood 22, and a cover member 30 (described later) fixed to the reel seat body 12 are collectively referred to as the reel seat 9, but the reel seat 9 may also be considered to include the nut 8 for moving the movable hood.
[0029] As shown in the figure, the fixed hood 21 of the reel seat main body 12 has an opening 21a that opens toward the movable hood 22 to receive one end of the reel leg 6a. The opening 21a of the fixed hood 21 is formed so that the height of the inner surface gradually decreases toward the front of the reel seat main body 12. When one end of the reel leg 6a is received in this opening 21a and pressed by the opening 21a, the reel leg 6a is urged (pressed) toward the reel leg mounting surface 12a disposed within the fixed hood 21.
[0030] The fixed hood 21 is not limited to being disposed integrally with the reel seat body 12, but may be formed as a separate structure from the reel seat body 12 using metal or hard synthetic resin and firmly fixed to the reel seat body 12. If formed from metal, it is preferable to place a resin member at the portion that abuts against the reel leg 6a of the reel 6 to prevent damage to each member due to contact between the metal members.
[0031] The movable hood 22 is formed in the shape of a sleeve with an axial hole through which the threaded portion (male threaded portion) 11 of the reel seat body 12 is inserted, and has a hood body 26 and a reel leg holder 28 formed inside the hood body 26. The hood body 26 is made of, for example, synthetic resin. A nut 8 is rotatably connected to the rear portion (rod butt side) of the hood body 26 of the movable hood 22. The nut 8 is made of, for example, synthetic resin, polyamide synthetic resin, ABS resin, etc., and the cylindrical portion is made of, for example, metal such as SUS, aluminum, brass, etc., but is not limited to these.
[0032] Next, a reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to Figures 3, 4, 5, and 6. Figure 3(a) is a top view of the reel seat body 12 of the reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, (b) is a side view of the reel seat body 12 of the reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, and (c) is an enlarged view of a portion of the top view of the reel seat body 12 of the reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention. Figure 4(a) is a top view of the cover member 30 of the reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention in an unfolded state, (b) is a side view of the cover member 30 of the reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, and (c) is a cross-sectional view of the cover member 30 of the reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention. Figure 5 is a side view showing the cover member 30 fixed to the reel seat body 12 of the reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention. Figure 6(a) is a top view of the reel seat body 12 having the locking protrusions 23, 24 described later in a reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, (b) is a side view of the reel seat body 12 having the locking protrusions 23, 24 described later in a reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, and (c) is an enlarged view of a portion of the top view of the reel seat body 12 having the locking protrusions 23, 24 described later in a reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention.
[0033] As shown in FIGS. 3, 4 and 5, a reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises a reel seat body 12 including a reel leg mounting portion 12a on which the reel leg 6a is mounted and a fixed hood 21 into which one end of the reel leg 6a is inserted, a movable hood 22 into which the other end of the reel leg 6a is inserted, and a flexible cover member 30 that covers the outer surface of the reel leg 6a. The reel seat body 12 has a first side surface portion 13a and a second side surface portion 13b that extend from both ends of the reel leg mounting portion 12a in the short direction. The first side surface portion 13a has one or more first protrusions 14, and the second side surface portion 13b has one or more second protrusions 15. The cover member 30 has one or more first recesses (not shown) or one or more first holes 31 into which the one or more first protrusions 14 fit, and one or more second recesses (not shown) or one or more second holes 32 into which the one or more second protrusions 15 fit, thereby configuring the cover member 30 to be fixed to the reel seat body 12. Here, the flexible cover member 30 has a hardness of 30° to 90°, and may be made of various rubbers, elastomers, rubber-like resins, EVA, rubber cork, etc., but is not limited to these. The cover member 30 may also be configured to have one or more first protrusions 14 and one or more second protrusions 15, the first side surface portion 13a to have one or more first recesses or one or more first hole portions 31, and the second side surface portion 13b to have one or more second recesses (not shown) or one or more second hole portions 32.
[0034] According to the reel seat 9 of one embodiment of the present invention, it is possible to provide a reel seat and a fishing rod equipped with the same that improve the workability of attaching the cover member and provide sufficient grip. More specifically, the cover member can be easily and securely attached to the reel seat body by simply fitting the protrusions on each side of the reel seat body into the recesses or holes in the cover member, thereby improving the workability of attaching the cover member. Furthermore, because the exposed portions of the reel seat body where the reel legs are located are covered with a flexible cover member, the contact area with the user's hands and fingers is increased, improving grip. Furthermore, because the reel legs are covered with such a cover member, it is possible to prevent the user's hands and fingers from coming into contact with the reel legs, which are typically made of metal, during repeated casting, and to prevent the user's hands from getting cold when fishing in cold weather.
[0035] In the reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, the outer surfaces 18a of the first side portion 13a and the second side portion 13b are formed radially inward of the reel seat 9 relative to the outer surface 18b of the reel seat body 12 adjacent to the first side portion 13a and the second side portion 13b. This prevents a step from being formed in the boundary area between the reel seat body and the cover member, thereby improving grip comfort. The outer surface 18b of the reel seat body 12 may be formed flush with the outer surface of the cover member 30 or may be formed radially inward of the outer surface of the cover member 30 relative to the outer surface of the cover member 30. This allows the flexible cover member 30 to come into contact with the hand simultaneously with the reel seat body 12 or in front of the reel seat body 12, improving grip comfort. More preferably, the outer surface 18b of the reel seat body 12 is formed flush with the outer surface of the cover member 30. In this way, there is no step in the boundary area between the reel seat body 12 and the cover member 30, which makes it possible to further improve the gripping comfort.
[0036] In the reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, the reel seat body 12 has a first wall 16 at the end of the first side surface 13a opposite the reel leg mounting portion 12a, and a second wall 17 at the end of the second side surface 13b opposite the reel leg mounting portion 12a, and the cover member 30 is fixed to the reel seat body 12 so that the first end or second end of the cover member 30 as viewed in the circumferential direction of the reel seat 9 abuts against the corresponding first wall 16 or second wall 17. In this way, it is possible to prevent the cover member 30 from moving or deforming in the circumferential direction of the reel seat 9 relative to the reel seat body, ensuring a stable grip.
[0037] In the reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, the reel seat body 12 is formed with a first locking step 19 or a second locking step 20 in the boundary region between the reel leg mounting portion 12a and the first side surface 13a or the second side surface 13b, and the cover member 30 is formed with a first locked step 33 or a second locked step 34 that is locked with the first locking step 19 or the second locking step 20. More specifically, the cover member 30 is configured to be locked to the reel seat body 12 by having the bottom wall and side wall of the first locked step 33 or the second locked step 34 formed on the cover member 30 abut against the bottom wall and side wall of the first locking step 19 or the second locking step 20 formed on the reel seat body 12. In this way, it is possible to prevent the cover member from moving in the circumferential direction of the reel seat 9 relative to the reel seat body and from being deformed, and it is possible to ensure a stable gripping feeling.
[0038] Next, as shown in Fig. 6, in the reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, a first locking protrusion 23 or a second locking protrusion 24 extending in a direction substantially perpendicular to the radial direction of the reel seat 9 is provided on any one of the one or more first protrusions 14 or any one of the one or more second protrusions 15 (in the example shown in Fig. 6, the first locking protrusion 23 and the second locking protrusion 24 are provided on one first protrusion 14 on the fixed hood 21 side and one second protrusion 15 on the fixed hood 21 side, respectively). In this way, the locking protrusions 23, 24 are locked to the cover member 30 in the direction in which the protrusions 14, 15 of the cover member 30 are removed from the reel seat body 12, making it possible to prevent the cover member 30 from unintentionally falling off from the reel seat body 12. 6, the first locking protrusion 23 or the second locking protrusion 24 is generally plate-shaped with a generally semicircular tip, for example, in the shape of a claw, but is not limited to this and various other shapes are possible. Also, although the first locking protrusion 23 or the second locking protrusion 24 has been described as extending in a direction generally perpendicular to the radial direction of the reel seat 9, it may also be inclined in the radial direction of the reel seat 9.
[0039] In the reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, the cover member 30 is provided with a first locking projection accommodating recess 35 or a second locking projection accommodating recess 36 that accommodates the first locking projection 23 or the second locking projection 24. Therefore, although not shown, each locking projection 23, 24 is locked in the locking projection accommodating recess 35, 36 of the cover member 30 in the direction in which the convex portions 14, 15 of the cover member 30 are removed from the reel seat body 12, thereby preventing the cover member 30 from unintentionally falling off from the reel seat body 12. Here, the first locking projection accommodating recess 35 or the second locking projection accommodating recess 36 is a recess (cutout) formed in the cover member 30 adjacent to the recess or through hole, and is formed to match the shape of the first locking projection 23 or the second locking projection 24 so as to accommodate the first locking projection 23 or the second locking projection 24. The shape of the first locking projection accommodating recess 35 or the second locking projection accommodating recess 36 can be variously considered in accordance with the shape of the first locking projection 23 or the second locking projection 24 .
[0040] In the reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, each of the one or more first protrusions 14 or the one or more second protrusions 15 is formed in a cylindrical or approximately cylindrical shape (e.g., a cross section that is an ellipse or a modified circle), and when multiple first protrusions 14 or multiple second protrusions 15 are provided, the multiple first protrusions 14 or multiple second protrusions 15 are arranged along the axial direction of the reel seat 9. In this way, compared to when the protrusions are rectangular and elongated in the axial direction, the work of continuously pushing the protrusions along their outer shapes is unnecessary, and the cylindrical shape eliminates the need for corner alignment, further improving the ease of installation. In the reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, each of the one or more first protrusions 14 or the one or more second protrusions 15 may be formed in the shape of a truncated cone, an inverted truncated cone, or a polygonal prism.
[0041] In the reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, the depth of the one or more first hole portions 31 or the one or more second hole portions 32 is formed to be equal to or greater than the height of the one or more first protrusions 14 or the one or more first protrusions 15. In this way, the protrusions 14, 15 provided on the side surfaces 13a, 13b of the reel seat body 12 do not protrude (pop out) from the holes 31, 32 of the cover member 30, so a stable grip feeling can be ensured.
[0042] In the reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention, the cover member 30 has a through hole 35 formed in the center so as not to interfere with the component 6b extending from the reel leg 6a to the fishing reel 6, and a cutout 36 for guiding the component 6b into the through hole 35 of the cover member 30 is formed in the cover member 30, and the cutout 36 is formed in a position that does not overlap with the one or more first recesses (not shown) or the one or more first holes 31 and the one or more second recesses (not shown) or the one or more second holes 32. In this way, the cover member 30 can be attached to the reel seat body 12 without interfering with the component 6b of the fishing reel 6, which makes it possible to effectively prevent the cover member from being damaged or cracked.
[0043] A fishing rod 1 according to one embodiment of the present invention is configured to include any of the reel seats 9 described above, a fishing reel 6, and a rod body 2. The fishing rod 1 equipped with the reel seat 9 according to one embodiment of the present invention makes it possible to provide a reel seat and a fishing rod equipped with the reel seat, which improves the workability of attaching the cover member and provides sufficient grip. More specifically, the cover member can be easily and securely attached to the reel seat body by simply fitting the protrusions on each side of the reel seat body into the recesses or holes in the cover member, thereby improving the workability of attaching the cover member. Furthermore, the exposed portions of the reel seat body where the reel legs are located are covered with a flexible cover member, which increases the contact area with the user's hands and fingers and improves grip. Furthermore, because the reel legs are covered with such a cover member, it is possible to reduce the stress caused by the user's hands and fingers coming into contact with the typically metal reel legs during repeated casting and to prevent the user's hands from getting cold from the metal reel legs when fishing in cold weather.
[0044] The dimensions, materials, and arrangements of each component described in this specification are not limited to those explicitly described in the embodiments, and each component can be modified to have any dimensions, materials, and arrangements that fall within the scope of the present invention. Furthermore, components not explicitly described in this specification can be added to the described embodiments, or some of the components described in the embodiments can be omitted. Here, this specification has been described using an example in which one or more first protrusions 14 and one or more second protrusions 15 are formed on the reel seat body 12, and one or more first recesses (not shown) or one or more first holes 31 into which the one or more first protrusions 14 fit, and one or more second recesses (not shown) or one or more second holes 32 into which the one or more second protrusions 15 fit, but the reverse configuration may also be used. That is, the cover member 30 may be configured to have one or more first protrusions 14 and one or more second protrusions 15 formed thereon, and the reel seat body 12 may be configured to have one or more first recesses (not shown) or one or more first holes 31 into which the one or more first protrusions 14 fit, and one or more second recesses (not shown) or one or more second holes 32 into which the one or more second protrusions 15 fit. In that case, it should be noted that the embodiments already described in this specification are included as part of this specification as appropriate alternative embodiments.
