As a result, as shown in Table 3, although UVA irradiation reduced dermal elasticity (Reference Example 1), in Experimental Examples 1 to 4 in which EGT treatment was performed, the dermal elasticity modulus was comparable to that of Reference Example 2 in which UVA irradiation was not performed. Therefore, the results showed that EGT treatment improved or maintained elasticity.
[0123] Furthermore, the state of collagen fiber bundling in Experimental Examples 1 to 4, which were treated with EGT, and Reference Example 1, which was not treated with EGT, was observed using an atomic force microscope ( Figures 1A , 1C to 1F ). Interestingly, as shown in Figure 1A , in Reference Example 1, which was not treated with EGT, a planar image of collagen fiber bundles with a blurred appearance was observed due to UVA irradiation, whereas in the experimental group with EGT treatment (Experimental Examples 1 to 4, Figures 1C to 1F ), the collagen fibers were bundled together to form clearly formed collagen fiber bundles, resulting in a three-dimensional image of collagen fiber bundles. As shown in Table 4, while UVA irradiation reduces the thickness of collagen fiber bundles (Reference Example 1), in Experimental Examples 1 to 4, which were treated with EGT, the thickness of collagen fiber bundles was comparable to that of Reference Example 2, which was not treated with UVA irradiation. Therefore, it can be understood that EGT treatment significantly suppressed the decrease in collagen fiber bundle thickness due to UVA irradiation.

Claims
1. A composition for inhibiting the decrease in thickness of collagen fiber bundles caused by UVA irradiation, comprising an ergothioneine compound as an active ingredient.
2. The composition according to claim 1 for inhibiting the decrease in thickness of collagen fiber bundles in the dermis due to UVA irradiation.
3. The composition according to claim 1, which is an external skin preparation.
