Abstract
Description
[0001] A MULTIFUNCTIONAL EXERCISE DEVICE
[0002] Field of the invention
[0003] The present invention belongs to the field of exercise devices, more precisely to the field of multifunctional exercise devices, which enable a larger number of possible exercises. The invention relates to a multifunctional exercise device.
[0004] Background of the invention and the technical problem
[0005] The musculoskeletal system, which consists of muscles and bones, enables humans to move and perform physical activities. Human movement is influenced by motor skills, such as:
[0006] - muscle strength, which is the maximum force with which a muscle can work against resistance,
[0007] - postural balance, which is the ability to maintain the line of gravity that runs from the centre of mass to the surface where a person stands or moves, and
[0008] - flexibility, which is the ability of a muscle or joint to move through its full range of motion.
[0009] Motor skills are developed through training, which involves repeating specific activities. Various devices and aids are usually used to facilitate such movement or enhance the effects of training. Muscle strengthening is possible by using elastic resistance, e.g. elastic bands or tubes, pneumatic resistance trainers, or by lifting / moving heavy objects, such as weights.
[0010] The problem with known solutions is that several different devices must be used to cover different segments of exercise or training. Even if some functions are combined, such devices are usually robust, heavy, and therefore unsuitable for moving between different rooms or exercise facilities. The technical problem, which solves the present invention, is thus construction of an exercise device, which will allow multi-purpose use. At the same time, the constructional design of the invention has to be compact to enable easy transport and has to allow simple change between different settings based on the desired workout.
[0011] Prior art
[0012] Devices for training the shin muscles are known, such as shin blaster, tibialis trainer and the like. Their common feature is that they have a central axis, which is adapted at one end for placing weights, and at the other end has a cylinder attached perpendicular to the axis. Both ends of the cylinder that extend away from the axis are usually padded. Between the cylinder and the end for placing weights, a second cylinder is welded, which is connected to the axis via a connecting part that is perpendicular to the axis. The second cylinder is parallel to the first cylinder, and between the two cylinders there is a space for receiving the legs of the person who will use the device. The described device from different manufacturers differs from the present invention.
[0013] The invention also differs from the so-called Glute Ham Glider, which is available at https: / / www.titan.fitness / strength / specialty-machines / lower-body / glute-ham- glider 00325.html and is intended for use in training the muscles of the core, back and back part of legs. This device has a base body equipped with four wheels that allow movement, while the base body is essentially a set of interconnected bars with intermediate spaces that allow grip with the hands and placement of the feet for performing exercises. The latter can be varied.
[0014] Description of the solution to the technical problem
[0015] The present invention addresses the problem of multifunctional exercise devices and represents an upgrade of the so-called shin blaster or tibialis trainer, which allows only one type of exercise. The technical problem is solved as defined in the independent claim, while preferred embodiments of the solution are defined in the dependent claims.
[0016] The essence of the multifunctional exercise device according to the invention is in that the device comprises at least:
[0017] - two mutually parallel cylinders connected to each other by at least one connecting element, both cylinders provided at both ends with wheels rotatably mounted in any suitable manner,
[0018] - a central axis, which is connected at one end to at least one of said cylinders or to at least one connecting element, and wherein at the other end the central axis is configured for mounting a weight.
[0019] The central axis may be fixedly attached to one of the cylinders or at least one connecting element. Alternatively, the central axis may be attached to at least one connecting element movably, so that its mounting slides on at least one connecting element, preferably on two connecting elements. The connecting element thus acts as a guide. The device may be height-adjustable along the central axis, which allows for various leg exercises, push-ups, bends, and the like.
[0020] The essence of the multifunctional exercise device according to an alternative embodiment, which is also in the scope of the present invention, is in that the device comprises at least
[0021] - two mutually parallel cylinders, i.e. a first and a second cylinder connected to each other by at least one connecting element, both cylinders provided at both ends with wheels rotatably mounted in any suitable manner,
[0022] - a central axis, which is connected at one end to the second cylinders, and wherein at the other end the central axis is configured for mounting a weight,
[0023] - a diagonal supporting element that is flexibly mounted on a central axis and at the other end is fixedly or rotatably mounted on one of the cylinders or to at least one connecting element, wherein in the case that the supporting element is rotatably mounted, the central axis and the supporting element can move into various acute-angled positions, where the angle between the axis and at least one connecting element is an acute angle between 10 and 85 degrees.
[0024] Two additional handles can be installed on the said supporting element, which are perpendicularly mounted or attached. These two handles can be padded and allow either fixing the feet or insteps, for exercises where we want to have the device attached to the legs, such as knee extension, leg presses while lying on the back, back extension, knee flexion, and / or as a grip for abdominal exercises (e.g. working as an abs roller), or the so-called pull over on the back on a bench, where shoulder extension is performed, or for exercises such as hand-held push-ups, or hand-held extension / flexion. The handles can also be height-adjustable to adapt the device to different users with different ankle dimensions and instep heights. The handles can be installed on the lower part of the supporting element, so that when the latter is moved towards the wheels, the handles almost touch the second cylinder with wheels, which is narrower or shorter than the first. This arrangement provides more leg space, but it is desirable to have two additional leg fixation straps for each leg, which are useful for some exercises.
[0025] The central axis is mounted on the cylinder via a holder, which is essentially a cylindrical element mounted around the cylinder, and a holder is attached to it, into which the central axis is mounted using a suitable locking mechanism. The latter can be unfastened and the axis can be pulled out and rotated if needed. It is then inserted back into the holder, and the locking mechanism locks the new position of the axis. The locking mechanism can be a pin with a safety wire that passes through holes in opposite sides of the bracket and through a pair of opposite holes in the lower part of the central axis. Since each side of the lower part of the central axis has a hole, the axis can be rotated 90 degrees and the pin can be placed back through the holes. The device can be height-adjustable along the central axis, which allows for various leg exercises, push-ups, bends, and the like.
[0026] The wheels enable movement on the surface, so that the device according to the invention can be used for exercises where knee flexion and hip extension are performed in a supine position, exercises to strengthen the back and / or abdominal muscles. Both cylinders can be of the same length or one can be shorter than the other. Both pairs of wheels can be the same, or they can be of different dimensions, i.e. one pair is wider and the other is narrower, which allows for different behaviour of the device when performing the exercises.
[0027] At least one connecting element between the cylinders may be a simple tube which is attached by welding, screwing or any other means to both rollers, the length of the connecting element being fixed and unchangeable. In an alternative embodiment, the two cylinders are connected by two connecting elements which are parallel to each other. In a preferred embodiment, the two connecting elements are screwed to both cylinders.
[0028] According to a possible embodiment, the device according to the invention, in any embodiment, has a supporting element that is mounted on a central axis, preferably below the mounting or attachment point of the weight, and at the other end is fixedly or rotatably mounted on one of the cylinders or on at least one connecting element. In the case that the supporting element is rotatably mounted, the movably mounted central axis and the supporting element can move from an approximately vertical position, when they are approximately perpendicular to the at least one connecting element, to an acute-angled position, where the angle between the axis and the at least one connecting element is an acute angle.
[0029] Two more handles can be installed on the supporting element, which are perpendicularly mounted or attached. The weight can be placed on the free end of the central axis, wherein it can be either a fixed weight or a replaceable weight, wherein different weights can be used to adjust the load according to the user's abilities, preferences and type of exercise.
[0030] A grip can also be mounted on the central axis, namely it is mounted under the weight mounting, and is oriented approximately perpendicular to the central axis or perpendicular to the optional handles on the supporting element. The grip is used to grip and use the device as a weight, for training the arm muscles and / or back and abdominal muscles.
[0031] The device according to the invention enables the use of fastening belts or straps, wherein said straps are attached to a support element to allow the user's legs to be positioned and secured for more reliable performance of the exercise or certain exercises. The fastening straps can be made of conventional strap materials, and the fastening and adjustment can be carried out in known ways, for example via clips or hooks and loops straps.
[0032] The device also allows the attachment of elastic bands for training, wherein one end of the elastic band is attached to any suitable part of the device, such as around the handles, the grip or weights, and the other end of the elastic band to the wall bars or some other fixed structure or hook. According to a possible embodiment, the central axis can be provided with an additional hook intended for attaching elastic bands, preferably the said hook is placed near the screws for attaching the connecting element or on the part where the optional holes for height adjustment are located. With the elastic band thus attached, the torque of the movement can be increased during training.
[0033] The device can be designed in various dimensions, and the preferred dimensions of the device components are as follows:
[0034] - the distance between the cylinders or the length of the connecting elements is from 8 to 12 cm, preferably 9 cm,
[0035] - length of at least one cylinder is between 26 and 38 cm, preferably 32 cm, - length of the supporting element is between 16 and 20 cm, preferably 18 cm,
