Description

DEVICE, METHOD AND COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM FOR COMMUNICATIONSFIELD

[0001] Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to the field of communication, and in particular, to devices, methods and computer readable medium for a full duplex operation.BACKGROUND

[0002] With the development of communication technology, to enhance the performance of the communication system, several refined resource configuration manners had been introduced. For example, to easily utilize the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology, the Time Division Duplex (TDD) pattern had been studied and adopted, in which a time symbol may be configured as an uplink (UL) symbol, a downlink (DL) symbol or a flexible symbol. In this case, during a symbol, the configured whole bandwidth part (BWP) or carrier can be used for communication of corresponding link direction (for example, UL or DL) .

[0003] Furthermore, to enhance the frequency spectrum efficiency, a subband non-overlapping full duplex (SBFD) operation was proposed on the basis of TDD pattern. In SBFD operations, a time unit (for example, a symbol, slot, sub-frame, frame, and so on) , which may be also referred to as an SBFD time unit, can be divided into a plurality of frequency subbands in the frequency domain. The plurality of frequency subbands may be respectively used for different link directions, for example, uplink (UL) frequency subband or downlink (DL) frequency subband. That is, for example, on a DL symbol configured as an SBFD symbol, the network device may perform the DL transmission on the DL subband and perform the UL reception on the configured UL subband during this DL symbol. In this case, the BWP during a SBFD time unit (for example, this DL symbol) can be divided into multiple subbands that each is configured for one link direction.

[0004] As the demand for wireless communication continues to increase, research and refinement continue to advance wireless communication technologies not only to meet the growing demand for mobile access but to advance and enhance the user experience with wireless communications.SUMMARY

[0047] In one embodiment, the terminal device may be connected with a first network  device and a second network device. One of the first network device and the second network device may be a master node and the other one may be a secondary node. The first network device and the second network device may use different radio access technologies (RATs) . In one embodiment, the first network device may be a first RAT device and the second network device may be a second RAT device. In one embodiment, the first RAT device is eNB and the second RAT device is gNB. Information related with different RATs may be transmitted to the terminal device from at least one of the first network device and the second network device. In one embodiment, first information may be transmitted to the terminal device from the first network device and second information may be transmitted to the terminal device from the second network device directly or via the first network device. In one embodiment, information related with configuration for the terminal device configured by the second network device may be transmitted from the second network device via the first network device. Information related with reconfiguration for the terminal device configured by the second network device may be transmitted to the terminal device from the second network device directly or via the first network device.

[0048] As used herein, the singular forms ‘a’ , ‘an’ and ‘the’ are intended to include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. The term ‘includes’ and its variants are to be read as open terms that mean ‘includes, but is not limited to. ’ The term ‘based on’ is to be read as ‘at least in part based on. ’ The term ‘one embodiment’ and ‘an embodiment’ are to be read as ‘at least one embodiment. ’ The term ‘another embodiment’ is to be read as ‘at least one other embodiment. ’ The terms ‘first, ’ ‘second, ’ and the like may refer to different or same objects. Other definitions, explicit and implicit, may be included below.

[0049] In some examples, values, procedures, or apparatus are referred to as ‘best, ’ ‘lowest, ’ ‘highest, ’ ‘minimum, ’ ‘maximum, ’ or the like. It will be appreciated that such descriptions are intended to indicate that a selection among many used functional alternatives can be made, and such selections need not be better, smaller, higher, or otherwise preferable to other selections.

[0050] The term “circuitry” used herein may refer to hardware circuits and / or combinations of hardware circuits and software. For example, the circuitry may be a combination of analog and / or digital hardware circuits with software / firmware. As a further example, the circuitry may be any portions of hardware processors with software including digital signal processor (s) , software, and memory (ies) that work together to cause an apparatus, such as a  terminal device or a network device, to perform various functions. In a still further example, the circuitry may be hardware circuits and or processors, such as a microprocessor or a portion of a microprocessor, that requires software / firmware for operation, but the software may not be present when it is not needed for operation. As used herein, the term circuitry also covers an implementation of merely a hardware circuit or processor (s) or a portion of a hardware circuit or processor (s) and its (or their) accompanying software and / or firmware. In this disclosure, the subband and the frequency subband may be used interchangeable without any limitation. The group size of a RBG may be also referred to as the RBG size without any limitation. In this disclosure, the control channel may be interchangeably used with the physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) without any limitation.

[0051] In some example embodiments of the disclosure, the slot / symbol configured with SBFD communication or configuration may be also referred to as SBFD slot / symbol, and the slot / symbol not configured with SBFD communication may be also referred to as non-SBFD slot / symbol. The non-SBFD time unit may include UL slot / symbol and / or DL slot / symbol. Only for discussion simplicity, the SBFD time unit may be also referred to as the “full duplex time unit” in some example embodiments of the disclosure.

[0052] In some example embodiments of the disclosure, the terms “full duplex slot” and “subband full duplex slot” can be used interchangeably. In some example embodiments of the disclosure, the full duplex slot includes non-overlapping subband full duplex (SBFD) slot and overlapped subband full duplex (OSFD) slot.

[0053] In some example embodiments of the disclosure, the time unit may be any metric of the time domain. For example, the time unit may be a frame, a subframe, a slot, or a symbol. Without any limitation, the time unit may be any other time duration.

[0054] In some example embodiments of the disclosure, the expression “frequency resources within a subband of the SBFD time unit” only refers to the resources located within the subband with respect to the frequency domain; however, the time duration of the resources is unnecessary to be limited in one or more SBFD time units if the time duration is not indicated.

[0055] In some example embodiments of the disclosure, the terms “uplink (UL) control channel” and “physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) ” can be used interchangeably. The terms “UL shared channel” and “physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) ” can be used interchangeably. The terms “downlink (DL) control channel” and “physical downlink  control channel (PDCCH) ” can be used interchangeably. The terms “DL shared channel” and “physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) ” can be used interchangeably.

[0056] In some example embodiments of the disclosure, the term “random access procedure” refers to a sequence of signaling steps between a terminal device and a network device for the terminal device to acquire uplink synchronization and obtain specified identity (ID) for the radio access communication. In general, there are two types of random access procedure, i.e., the four (4) -step random access and two (2) -step random access. Only for discussion purposes without any limitation, the 4-step random access includes four signaling steps, which may be referred to Message (Msg) 1, Msg 2, Msg 3 and Msg 4. The 2-step random access includes two signaling steps which may be referred to the step A and the step B.

[0057] In some example embodiments of the disclosure, the term “SBFD slot” refers to a slot including at least one SBFD symbol which is configured with frequency subbands for different link directions. In addition to the at least one SBFD symbol, the SBFD slot may further include one or more non-SBFD symbols, such as DL symbols, UL symbols and / or flexible symbols.

[0058] As mentioned above, one SBFD slot may include one or more SBFD symbols. That is, theoretically, the network device may dynamically schedule a SBFD-aware terminal device to perform the transmission or the reception on an SBFD symbol of the one SBFD slot on demand. However, the terminal device may need time to perform the transition between the transmitting and receiving. Moreover, the channel transmission, data preparation and / or data processing are also configured with certain timing requirements, or are limited by the capability of the terminal device. Thus, in the practice, the transitions between transmitting and receiving in a slot should have the maximum times, in order to fulfill the above constraints. However, there is no means to indicate the maximum transitions in a full duplex slot. As such, this makes it hard for both the gNB and the UE to know how many rounds of communication can be completed within the SBFD slot.

[0059] In view of these analysis and considerations, a new solution is proposed in some embodiments of the present disclosure. In one aspect, a network device transmits system information on a maximum number of link direction transitions in a full duplex slot to a terminal device. For example, the network device may transmit a system information block (SIB) indicating the maximum number. Then, the network device and the terminal device receiving the system information perform an operation associated with the full duplex slot  based on the maximum number and / or the capability of the terminal device. In this way, the maximum number of transitions for the terminal device is specified, such that the dynamic allocation of the transitions between UL and DL frequency subbands is allowed.

[0060] Furthermore, two configuration options have been agreed to configure a subband full duplex time operation. In a first configuration option, the subband full duplex time unit (or operation) may be configured based on the following: a common resource configuration signaling for the subband full duplex time unit and non-subband full duplex time unit, and a set of additional parameters dedicated to the full duplex time unit. In a second configuration option, the subband full duplex time unit may be configured based on a subband full duplex time unit-specific resource configuration signaling. Furthermore, the resource allocation associated with the non-subband full duplex time unit is determined based on non-subband full duplex time unit-specific resource configuration signaling. Regardless of the first or second configuration option, the payload of the configuration information may increase the burden on the resource control signaling (RRC) , such as the SIB. That is, the SIB may overflow since there is a maximum size limitation.

[0061] In another aspect, a terminal device receives, on a first set of resources and from a network device, system information comprising a resource configuration for a full duplex slot. The first set of resources is within a portion of first downlink shared channel resource set allocated to a full duplex slot, the portion overlapping with a second downlink shared channel resource set allocated to a non-full duplex slot. The terminal device further performs an operation associated with the full duplex slot based on the resource configuration. In this way, the potential overflow on the system information block (SIB) for configuring the SBFD time unit can be avoided.

[0062] In a further aspect, a terminal device receives, from a network device, system information comprising a set of additional parameters specific to a full duplex slot and a common resource configuration for the full duplex slot and a non-full duplex slot. The set of essential additional parameters only comprises an essential portion of a plurality of parameters associated with full duplex operation, the essential portion indicating a resource location for a frequency subband. The terminal device further performs an operation associated with the full duplex slot based on the essential portion. In this way, the potential overflow on the system information block (SIB) for configuring the SBFD time unit can be avoided. Similarly, since the common resource configuration only includes the essential portion of the plurality of parameters, the potential overflow on the system information block  (SIB) for configuring the SBFD time unit can be avoided.

[0063] Principle and embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings. FIG. 1 illustrates an example environment 100 in which example embodiments of the present disclosure can be implemented.

[0064] The environment 100, which may be a part of a communication network, comprises a terminal device 110 and a network device 120. In some embodiments, the communication network may include NTN, NB-IoT and / or eMTC. In some other embodiments, the communication network may include any other possible communication network. It is to be understood that the number of network devices and terminal devices is given only for illustration without suggesting any limitations. The communication network may include any suitable number of network devices and / or terminal devices adapted for implementing embodiments of the present disclosure. Although not shown, it would be appreciated that one or more terminal devices may be located in the environment 100A. Without any limitation, the network device 120 supports the SBFD operation. For example, during the same SBFD time units, the network device 120 may transmit a downlink (DL) channel to the terminal device 110 and receive an UL channel from another terminal device, simultaneously. In other words, the network device 120 may transmit signal (s) in a downlink (DL) channel to the terminal device 110 and receive signal (s) in an UL channel from the other terminal device, simultaneously.

[0065] It is to be understood that the number of units and other objects in FIG. 1 is provided merely for the purpose of illustration without implying any limitations to the device environment 100. The environment 100 may include any suitable number of functionality units configured to implement example embodiments of the subject disclosure. Although not shown, it would be appreciated that one or more terminal devices may be located in the environment 100. Some embodiments of the disclosure are discussed with reference to FIGS. 2 to 15.

[0066] FIG. 2 illustrates an example signaling process 200 for the subband full duplex operation according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussions, the signaling process 200 will be described with reference to FIG. 1. It would be appreciated that although the signaling process 200 has been described with respect to communication environment of FIG. 1, this signaling process 200 may be likewise applied  to other communication environments.

[0067] In the signaling process 200, the network device 120 transmits (120) system information 215 on the maximum number of link direction transitions in a full duplex slot to the terminal device 110. In some embodiments, the full duplex slot may be the non-overlapping subband full duplex slot (i.e., the SBFD slot) as mentioned above. It is to be understood that the full duplex slot may also include the overlapped subband full duplex (OSFD) slot. Then, the terminal device 110 receives (110) the system information 215 accordingly.

[0068] In some embodiments, the system information 215 may indicate the maximum number of link directions transitions in the full duplex slot as any integer value. For example, the system information 215 may indicate the maximum number of link directions transitions in the full duplex slot as two (2) . In this case, in some embodiments, during one full duplex slot, the terminal device 110 is able to switch from DL transmission to UL reception, and further switch from the UL reception to DL transmission. Alternatively, in some embodiments, during one full duplex slot, the terminal device 110 is able to switch from UL reception to DL transmission, and further switch from the DL transmission UL reception to UL reception (for example, in the random access procedure) . Some further examples will be described with reference to FIGS. 3A and 3B in the following. In addition or alternatively, the system information 215 may indicate the maximum number of link directions transitions in the full duplex slot as other values (for example, 3, 4, 5 and / or 6) .

[0069] In some embodiments, there may be a default number of the link direction transitions in a full duplex slot. In an example, the default number of link direction transitions in a full duplex slot may be one (1) . As an example, for SBFD devices, a minimum of one (1) transition is supported, such as from DL direction to UL direction or from UL direction to DL direction. That is, in some embodiments, during one full duplex slot, the terminal device 110 is able to switch from DL transmission to UL reception one time, or switch from UL reception to DL transmission one time. The default number of link direction transitions may be configured by the network device 120 in advance, for example, a default parameter from the network device 120. That is, in some embodiments, in addition to the default number of link direction transitions, the network device 120 may further indicate the maximum number of link direction transitions to the terminal device 110. Alternatively, in some embodiments, the network device 120 may not configure the default number of link direction transitions but configure the information 215, without any limitation.

[0070] In some embodiments, the system information 215 may be transmitted in any signaling from the network device 120. As an example, the system information 215 may be transmitted in a system information block (SIB) from the network device 120. For example, the system information 215 may be included in the SIB as a dedicated field. In addition or alternatively, the system information 215 may be transmitted in resource control signaling (RRC) from the network device 120. In some other embodiments, the system information 215 may be transmitted by the network device 120 in any other messages.

[0071] Still referring to FIG. 2, the terminal device 110 performs (230) an operation based on at least one of the maximum number of link direction transitions or capability of the terminal device 110. For example, terminal device 110 may perform a first number of link direction transitions within a full duplex slot. The first number may be equal to or smaller than the maximum number of the link direction transitions. For example, assuming that the maximum number of link direction transitions is two. The terminal device 110 may perform one transition within the full duplex slot and this one transition may be determined based on the capability of the terminal device 110. Alternatively, even if the maximum number of link direction transitions is two, the terminal device 110 may perform no transition within the full duplex slot on demand, without any limitation.

[0072] Regarding the capability of the terminal device, two sets of minimum UE processing times for PDSCH processing and PUSCH preparation have been specified. The first set of minimum processing times, referred to as Capability 1 (which may be also referred to as the first processing capability or UE processing capability 1) , corresponds to a “baseline” UE capability, that is mandatory for all NR UEs to support. The second set of minimum processing times, referred to as Capability 2 (which may be also referred to as the second processing capability or UE processing capability 2) , corresponds to an “stringent” set of processing times for more advanced UEs, and expected to be supported as a UE optional feature.

[0073] Further, regarding the delay or latency of data processing and data preparation for the channel transmission, the UE processing capability 2 is “faster” than the UE processing capability 1. In this regard, the following disclosure provides the related definitions for N1 and N2. N1: The minimum PDSCH decoding time of a given numerology (in symbols) . N2: The minimum processing time of a given numerology between the end of the physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) and the start of scheduled PUSCH transmission (in symbols) . The values of N1 and / or N2 for a terminal device having the UE processing  capability 2 may be smaller than the values of other N1 and / or N2 values for another terminal device having the UE processing capability 1. Taking the N2 as example, the following Tables 1 to 2 shows the example N2 values in PUSCH preparation time for UE processing capability 1 and the UE processing capability 2.

[0074] Table 1 PUSCH preparation time for UE processing capability 1

[0075] Table 2 PUSCH preparation time for UE processing capability 1

[0076] Similarly, in the same situations, N1 values for the UE processing capability 2 is smaller than the other N1 values for the UE processing capability 1, which are not shown for the simplicity.

[0077] In addition, in some embodiments, the above capability of the terminal device 110 may include, but not limited to, the first processing capability (i.e., UE processing capability 1) and the second processing capability (i.e., UE processing capability 1) . In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may perform the random access procedure based on the maximum number of link direction transitions. For example, in one full duplex slot, the terminal device 110 may transmit PRACH to the network device 120 at first, transition to receive Msg 2 from the network device 120 in response to the PRACH, and further transition to transmit Msg 3 to the network device 120. To discuss clarity, this embodiment is further  discussed with reference to FIG. 3A.

[0078] FIG. 3A illustrates example link direction transitions within a full duplex slot associated with a random access procedure according to some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0079] As shown in FIG. 3A, the terminal device 110 may transmit a physical random access channel (PRACH) to the network device 120 to initiate a random access procedure. In other words, the terminal device 110 may transmit Msg 1 in this PRACH. This PRACH may occupy at least two consecutive symbols (for example, symbols 0 and 1) in a full duplex slot. In addition, generally, the terminal device 110 may transmit (222) the capability indication 226 of the terminal device to the network device 120 in Msg 3 in a random access procedure. In some embodiments of the disclosure, the terminal device 110 may transmit an indication 224 of the capability in the above PRACH. For example, the network device 120 may transmit a PRACH configuration indicating set of resources associated with a feature priority of the processing capability (such as, the first processing capability and the second processing capability) . To discuss clarity, assuming that the set of resources is associated with a feature priority of the second processing capability (i.e., the UE processing capability 2) . It is to be understood that there may be another set of resources associated with another feature priority of the first processing capability. In turn, the terminal device 110 may transmit the PRACH using the set of resources associated with the second processing capability. In this case, the network device 120 may be aware that the terminal device 110 has the UE processing capability 2 when receiving (226) this PRACH comprising the indication 224. In this way, the terminal device may inform the network device of its capability through Msg 1 or Msg 3 indications.

[0080] In this case, the Msg 1-based capability indication may allow for enhanced PRACH transmission and warrant the need for two transition points. The default Msg3 UE capability indication may not allow for the network device to schedule MSG 1, 2, and 3 within the same slot, given the N1 and N2 timing constraints.

[0081] For example, as defined, the window for the Msg 2 transmission may start at the symbol (i.e., the symbol 3) which is after the last PRACH occasion by one symbol (i. e, the wait time) . Thus, the network device 120 may transmit the Msg 2 at symbols 3 to 8 in the same full duplex slot. Moreover, for the UE processing capability 2, the minimum PUSCH preparation time is 5 symbols (the calculation starts from PDCCH on symbol 3) , and the  minimum PDSCH decoding time (N1) is 3 symbols (the calculation starts from PDSCH on symbol 8) . In this case, if the system information indicates that maximum number of link direction transitions is equal to or above the number two. The terminal device 110 may transition to receive the Msg 3 including PUSCH on symbols 12 and 13 in the same full duplex slot. In view of the above, with the information 215 and the capability of the terminal device 110, the terminal device 110 and the network device 120 may perform the steps 1 to 3 in the same full duplex slot, i.e., UL->DL->UL. As such, the efficiency of the random access procedure may be increased. Alternatively, the terminal device and network device will transmit with UE capability 1 as a baseline, but this will not allow for two transitions and will not allow SBFD to fully realize its enhanced UE UL coverage possibilities.

[0082] Referring back to FIG. 2, in addition or alternatively, for example in the connected state, the terminal device may perform the similar operation based on the maximum number of link direction transitions. For example, the terminal device may receive DL channel, transition to transmit UL channel and transition to receive another DL channel in the same full duplex slot. To discuss clarity, this embodiment is further discussed with reference to FIG. 3B.

[0083] FIG. 3B illustrates example link direction transitions within another full duplex slot according to some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0084] As shown in FIG. 3B, a PDSCH transmission 310 may extend from slot 0 to slot 1, and may occupy the symbol 0 of the slot 1. As mentioned above, after minimum PDSCH decoding time of 3 symbols, the terminal device 110 having the UE processing capability 2 may transmit uplink channel (for example, PUSCH) occupying symbols 4 to 6 to the network device 120. In turn, the terminal device 110 may further transition to receive PDCCH occupying symbols 12 and 13 in the same full duplex slot from the network device 120. That is, in the normal case, the terminal device 110 may perform a DL->UL->DL transition pattern in the same full duplex slot. In this case, the UE capability information have been transmitted to the network device 120 in advance, for example, in Msg 3 of the random access procedure.

[0085] Referring back to FIG. 2, the network device 120 performs (240) an operation based on at least one of the maximum number of link direction transitions or capability of the terminal device. In some embodiments, the network device 120 may adopt the same  criterion as the terminal device 110. In some embodiments, if the indicated maximum number of link direction transitions is equal to or above the number two, the network device 120 may determine whether the terminal device supports the maximum number of link direction transitions. If the indication is indicative of the UE processing capability 2, then the network device 120 may determine that the terminal device supports the maximum number of link direction transitions.

[0086] In addition or alternatively, in some embodiments, the network device 120 may further determine whether to schedule the terminal device based on the maximum number of link direction transitions in a full duplex slot. For example, the exact / actual number of transitions may be further explicitly stated or implicitly implied by the network device 120.

[0087] In an example, the terminal device 110 with capability 2 will send its capabilities through Msg 1 indications. In addition, the terminal device 110 has a timer that runs out if waiting for PRACH. The terminal device 110 will wait until the timer has run out for the random access for UE processing capability 1 instead. If the network device 120 responds within capability 1 but not capability 2, it implies the network device 120 only wants the terminal device 110 to operate in capability 1.

[0088] In view of the above embodiments, a unified design with respect to the maximum number of transitions in a full duplex slot is described. Alternatively, the maximum number of transitions in a full duplex slot may be based on the full duplex format. In some embodiments, the full duplex slot is the SBFD slot. The system information 215 may indicate that the maximum number of the link direction transitions is related to the number of the frequency subbands in the SBFD slot. To discuss clarity, this embodiment is further discussed with reference to FIGS. 4A and 4B.

[0089] FIG. 4A illustrates example link direction transitions within a full duplex slot which is depend on the frequency subband configuration of the full duplex slot according to some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0090] As shown in FIG. 4A, the SBFD slot may include three frequency subbands, i.e., two DL frequency subbands and one UL frequency subband in FIG. 4A. In this case, the terminal device 110 may determine that the maximum number of the link direction transitions is equal to the number of frequency subbands minus one. That is, the maximum number of the link direction transitions is equal to 2. Then, the terminal device 110 may perform two times of link direction transitions during the SBFD slot. For example, the transition may be  from the first DL subband to the UL subband and from the UL subband to the second DL subband. Without any limitation, the transitions may be in any other order.

[0091] FIG. 4B illustrates another example link direction transitions within a full duplex slot which is depend on the frequency subband configuration of the full duplex slot according to some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0092] As shown in FIG. 4B, the SBFD slot may include two frequency subbands, i.e., one DL frequency subband and one UL frequency subband in FIG. 4A. Similarly, the terminal device 110 may determine that the maximum number of the link direction transitions is equal to the number of frequency subbands minus one. That is, the maximum number of the link direction transitions is equal to 1. Then, the terminal device 110 may perform one time of link direction transitions during the SBFD slot. For example, the transition may be from the DL subband to the UL subband. Without any limitation, the transitions may be in any other order. In view of the above embodiments, the number of transitions will not be dependent on the capabilities of the UE and gNB; it will be based on the number of transition points for UL->DL and vice versa. In this way, dynamic allocation of transitions between SBFD uplink and downlink subbands is allowed.

[0093] As mentioned above, the full duplex slot configuration may cause a potential overflow on the corresponding system information signaling. Some aspects regarding the full duplex slot configuration of the disclosure are further discussed with reference to FIGS. 5 to 8. FIG. 5 illustrates another example signaling process 500 for the full duplex operation according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussions, the signaling process 500 will be described with reference to FIG. 1. It would be appreciated that although the signaling process 200 has been described with respect to communication environment of FIG. 1, this signaling process 500 may be likewise applied to other communication environments.

[0094] In the signaling 500, the network device 120 transmits (510) , on a first set of resources, system information 515 including a resource configuration to the terminal device 520. The first set of resources is within a portion of first downlink shared channel resource set allocated to a full duplex slot, the portion overlapping with a second downlink shared channel resource set allocated to a non-full duplex slot.

[0095] In some embodiments, the system information 515 may be transmitted in a system information block (SIB) . For example, the system information 515 may be transmitted in  any of SIB 1, SIB 2, …, SIB 19 and so on. In some embodiments, the resource configuration may indicate one or more time and frequency resource sets for one or more frequency subbands of the SBFD slot.

[0096] In an example, for the above second configuration option (i.e., the resources associated with full duplex time unit and non-full duplex time unit are configured in the individual resource configurations) , a first resource configuration for the non-full duplex time unit may be transmitted in the SIB 1. Moreover, a second resource configuration for the full duplex time unit may be transmitted in the SIB 2, SIB 3, …, or other SIB, collectively referred to as “SIB X” . For example, the system information 515 may be transmitted in the SIB X. In some embodiments, the SIB X is transmitted in the overlapping portion between the first PDSCH bandwidth of the non-full duplex slot and the second PDSCH bandwidth of the full duplex slot. Naturally, the overlapping is also located within the SBFD DL frequency bandwidth and the legacy DL frequency bandwidth. To discuss clarity, this embodiment is further discussed with reference to FIG. 6.

[0097] FIG. 6 illustrates an example transmission of a system information block (SIB) X according to some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0098] In the example of FIG. 6, examples of the legacy DL frequency bandwidth (the whole bandwidth) for the non-SBFD aware device, the legacy PDSCH bandwidth for the non-SBFD aware device, the SBFD DL frequency bandwidth and the SBFD PDSCH bandwidth are shown. As mentioned above, the SIB X 610 including the system information 515 may be located in the overlapping portion between the legacy PDSCH bandwidth and the SBFD PDSCH bandwidth. In this way, the resource configuration for the full duplex slot may be transmitted in this single SIB X other than the SIB 1. As such, the potential overflow can be avoided.

[0099] In a specific example, for PRACH that is initiated using PRACH on the SBFD slot, the SBFD configuration may be stored in the SIB X. The SIB X may be within the PDSCH. Specifically, the location of SIB X needs to be within both the PDSCH for SBFD, as well as PDSCH for legacy operation. As such, overhead for additional SBFD configuration may be limited. Furthermore, when PRACH is initiated in non-SBFD blocks, the same SIBX structure may be also applied to ensure there is a dedicated room for complete SBFD configuration information including timing and frequency allocations as well as various SBFD features.

[0100] Referring back to FIG. 5, the terminal device 110 performs (530) associated with the full duplex slot based on the resource configuration in the system information 515. Similarly, the network device 120 performs (540) the corresponding operations based on the resource configuration.

[0101] In addition or alternatively, for the above first configuration option (i.e., the subband full duplex time unit may be configured by a common resource configuration signaling and a set of additional parameters) , a further aspect provided a method of only including the essential portion of the additional parameters, such that reduce the payload of the system information.

[0102] FIG. 7 illustrates a further example signaling process 700 for the full duplex operation according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussions, the signaling process 700 will be described with reference to FIG. 1. It would be appreciated that although the signaling process 700 has been described with respect to communication environment of FIG. 1, this signaling process 700 may be likewise applied to other communication environments.

[0103] In the signaling process 700, the network device 120 transmits (710) system information 715 including a set of additional parameters specific to a full duplex slot and a common resource configuration for the full duplex slot and a non-full duplex slot. Moreover, the set of additional parameters only include an essential portion of a plurality of parameters associated with full duplex operation, and the essential portion indicates a resource location for a frequency subband.

[0104] In some embodiments, the system information 715 may be transmitted in the SIB 1. As such, for PRACH of SBFD-aware UE within non-SBFD slots, this SIB1 may be normally used with all the associated features that may require implementation, since the system information 715 includes the common resource configuration. In turn, the set of additional parameters may be considered “the barebones version” of the RRC configuration for the full duplex time unit. In some embodiments, with the essential portion or barebones version of the RRC configuration, the terminal device 110 is able to perform some “basis” SBFD operations.

[0105] As mentioned above, “the barebones version” of the RRC configuration may at least indicate the frequency subband resource location for the full duplex slot. Since the SIB 1 only includes the essential portion of the complete additional parameters for the full duplex  operation, the overflow on the SIB 1 can be avoided. Thus, for PRACH initiated by an SBFD-aware UE within SBFD slots, the network device 120 may send the barebones version of RRC configuration in the system information 715 that only includes the essential parameters for the operations regarding the full duplex slot of the terminal device 110. As an example, these operations may include indicating a priority placed on features that may be included in priority field transmitted from the terminal device 110.

[0106] Accordingly, the terminal device 110 performs (730) an operation associated with the full duplex slot based on the essential portion. In parallel, the network device 120 performs (740) corresponding operations associated with the full duplex slot based on the essential portion. For example, the terminal device 110 may perform, on the full duplex slot, the random access procedure to the network device 120 based on the essential portion.

[0107] In the above embodiments, the above first configuration option (i.e., the common resource configuration and essential portion of SBFD operation parameters) may be treated as a “feature light version” of SBFD in a sense. In addition, in some embodiments, the network device 120 may provide both the first configuration option and the second configuration option. For example, in addition to the SIB 1 including the set of additional parameters (i.e., the essential portion of the plurality of parameters) specific to a full duplex slot and a common resource configuration, the network device 120 may further transmit SIB X including the complete parameters required for the SBFD operations (i.e., the plurality of parameters discussed above) . In this case, compared to the above first configuration option, the second configuration option may be used as a feature-rich version of the SBFD configuration. In addition to the frequency subband resource location parameters, in some embodiments, the plurality of parameters may include other parameters associated with at least one of a first operation in connected state during the full duplex slot, a second operation in inactive or idle state during the full duplex slot or a second operation for cross slot. In the case that the network device 120 supports both the first and second configuration options, it is possible for the terminal device 110 to access the network device 120 using the first configuration option. Then, the terminal device 110 may simply read SIB X (for the second configuration option) when the terminal device 110 wants to be upgraded in terms of features.

[0108] As an example, the terminal device 110 may perform the random access procedure to the network device 120 based on the essential portion of the plurality of parameters. Then, after transitioning to the connected state, the terminal device 110 may receive second system information comprising the plurality of parameters associated with the full duplex operation  (for example, the SIB X) . In this case, the terminal device 110 may perform any full duplex operation as demand. That is, the network device 120 may always provide two sets of information, bare-bones and a feature-rich version. Without any limitation, alternatively, the network device 120 may only be limited to just provide the bare-bones version due to the network device capability.

[0109] In some embodiments, the network device 120 may need to be aware of whether the terminal device 110 supports the first configuration option, since the terminal device 110 may not support both the first and second configuration options simultaneously. In an example, the network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, a random access channel (RACH) configuration indicating a plurality of random access channel occasions (RO) . The plurality of ROs comprises a first set of ROs associated with a first configuration option and a second set of ROs associated with a second configuration option. Then, if the terminal device 110 only supports the first configuration option, the terminal device 110 may transmit a random access channel using a RO of the first set of ROs. In this case, the network device may be aware that the terminal device can be configured with the full duplex configuration using the SIB 1 including system information 715.

[0110] In addition, in some embodiments, the adopted configuration option may be indicated to the network device via Msg 1 or Msg 3. Given cross-slot PRACH (which will be discussed in the following) is supported in SBFD, Msg 1 indication may be better suited to allow for greater flexibility. To enable MSG1 indications, separate PRACH index values may be required.

[0111] In addition, in some embodiments, the above SIB 1 and SIB X may be transmitted in the overlapping portion between SBFD downlink channel bandwidth and the non-SBFD downlink channel bandwidth. To discuss clarity, this embodiment is further discussed with reference to FIG. 8.

[0112] FIG. 8 illustrates an example of both the first configuration option and second configuration option provided by the network device for the subband full duplex time unit according to some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0113] As similarly to the embodiments discussed in FIG. 6, the SIB X 810 may be transmitted in the overlapping portion as shown. In addition, when the network device 120 is able to support both the first and second configuration options. The network device 120 may transmit the SIB 1 820 including the system information 715 on this same overlapping  portion. That is, the network device 120 may transmit both SIB1 820 and SIBX 820 within the “transmission window” .

[0114] Referring back to FIG. 7, in some embodiments, depending on the capability of the terminal device 110, whether a cross-slot PRACH is enabled or not and / or the multi-SIB reception is allowed or not, the terminal device 110 may inform the network device 120 of its capabilities.

[0115] Regarding the cross-slot PRACH, it has been agreed that in the second configuration option, the PRACH may cross the different slots. Specifically, only in the second configuration option, a configured RO starting from SBFD symbol and ending in non-SBFD symbol either in the same slot or across different slots can be valid based on network configuration. Regarding the multi-SIB, the terminal device may be allowed to read multi-SIBs. Alternatively, the terminal device may be allowed to read only one SIB.

[0116] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may obtain a cross slot requirement and a multiple system information block (SIB) capability. Then, based on the cross slot requirement and the multiple SIB capability, the terminal device 110 may determine to transmit a Message 1 (Msg 1) comprising an indication of a capability of the terminal device. In this case, the network device 120 may determine the maximum number of link direction transitions for the terminal device 110 at the earliest convenience. Then, the network device 120 may schedule the terminal device 110 accordingly. Alternatively, based on the cross slot requirement and the multiple SIB capability, the terminal device 110 may determine to transmit a Message 3 (Msg 3) including the indication of the capability of the terminal device or an error case.

[0117] Only as an example, for the first configuration option, if the cross-slot PRACH and the multi-SIB are allowed, the terminal device may transmit its capability information in Msg 1 or PRACH. In another example, if the terminal device 110 has the UE processing capability 2, the terminal device may try to transmit its capability information in the Msg 1. In a further example, if the cross slot is allowed but the multi SIB is not allowed, the terminal device may determine an error case or transmit its capability information in Msg 3. The reason is that if the multi SIB is not allowed, the terminal device 110 cannot be configured based on the second configuration option (i.e., the SIB 1 and SIB X) . In this case, the PRACH cannot cross the slots which is supported only in the second configuration option.

[0118] As an example, for the first configuration option, some relationships between the  capability transmission occasions and the capabilities are shown in Table 3.

[0119] Table 3

[0120] In Table 3, the UE processing capability index “1” represents the terminal device supports the UE processing capability 1 and the UE processing capability index “2” represents the terminal device supports the UE processing capability 2. Y represents the cross-slot PRACH is allowed or the multi-SIB is allowed. N represents the cross-slot PRACH is allowed or the multi-SIB is not allowed.

[0121] In addition, for the second configuration option, some relationships between the capability transmission occasions and the capabilities are shown in Table 4.

[0122] Table 4

[0123] FIG. 9 illustrates a flowchart of a method 900 of communication implemented at a terminal device in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. The method 900 can be implemented at the terminal device 110 shown in FIG. 1. For the purpose of discussion, the method 900 will be described with reference to FIG. 1. It is to be understood that the method 900 may include additional acts not shown and / or may omit some shown acts, and the scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0124] At 910, the terminal device 110 receives, from a network device, system information on a maximum number of link direction transitions in a full duplex slot. At 920, the terminal device 110 performs an operation based on at least one of the maximum number of link direction transitions or capability of the terminal device.

[0125] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may further transmit, to the network device, a physical random access channel (PRACH) in a first full duplex slot, wherein the  PRACH comprises an indication of the capability of the terminal device. The capability of the terminal device comprises a first processing capability and a second processing capability.

[0126] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may perform the operation by the following: receiving, in the first full duplex slot, a first downlink control channel from the network device in response to the PRACH; and transmitting, in the first full duplex slot, a first uplink shared channel to the network device.

[0127] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may perform the operation by the following: receiving, in a second full duplex slot, a downlink shared channel from the network device; transmitting, in the second full duplex slot, a second uplink shared channel to the network device; and receiving, in the second full duplex slot, a second downlink control channel from the network device.

[0128] In some embodiments, the system information indicates that maximum number of link direction transitions is equal to or above the number two, and the indication is indicative of the second processing capability and the second process capability is UE processing capability 2.

[0129] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may further receive, from the network device, a PRACH configuration indicating set of resources associated with a feature priority of the second processing capability; and transmit the PRACH using the set of resources.

[0130] In some embodiments, the full duplex slot is a subband full duplex (SBFD) slot, and the system information indicates that the maximum number of the link direction transitions is related to the number of the frequency subbands in an SBFD slot.

[0131] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may perform the operation by the following: determining that the maximum number of the link direction transitions is equal to the number frequency subbands minus one; and performing the maximum number of link direction transitions during the SBFD slot.

[0132] FIG. 10 illustrates a flowchart of a method 1000 of communication implemented at a network device in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. The method 1000 can be implemented at the network device 120 shown in FIG. 1. For the purpose of discussion, the method 1000 will be described with reference to FIG. 1. It is to be understood that the method 1000 may include additional acts not shown and / or may omit some shown acts, and the scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0133] At 1010, the network device 120 transmits, to a network device, system information on a maximum number of link direction transitions in a full duplex slot. At 1020, the network device 120 performs an operation based on at least one of the maximum number of link direction transitions or capability of the terminal device.

[0134] In some embodiments, the network device may further receive, from the terminal device, a physical random access channel (PRACH) in a first full duplex slot, wherein the PRACH comprises an indication of the capability of the terminal device, and wherein the capability of the terminal device comprises a first processing capability and a second processing capability.

[0135] In some embodiments, the network device may perform the operation by the following: determining whether to schedule the terminal device based on the maximum number of link direction transitions in a full duplex slot; transmitting, in the first full duplex slot, a first downlink control channel to the terminal device in response to the PRACH, based on the determination; and receiving, in the first full duplex slot, a first uplink shared channel to the network device.

[0136] In some embodiments, the network device may perform the operation by the following: transmitting, in a second full duplex slot, a downlink shared channel to the terminal device; receiving, in the second full duplex slot, a second uplink shared channel from the terminal device; and transmitting, in the second full duplex slot, a second downlink control channel to the terminal device.

[0137] In some embodiments, the system information indicates that maximum number of link direction transitions is equal to or above the number two, and the indication is indicative of the second processing capability and the second process capability is UE processing capability 2.

[0138] In some embodiments, the network device may further: determine that the terminal device supports the maximum number of link direction transitions based on that the indication is indicative of the UE processing capability 2.

[0139] In some embodiments, the network device may further: transmit, to the terminal device, a PRACH configuration indicating set of resources associated with a feature priority of the second processing capability; receiving the PRACH using the set of resources.

[0140] In some embodiments, the full duplex slot is a subband full duplex (SBFD) slot, and the system information indicates that the maximum number of the link direction transitions  is related to the number of the frequency subbands in the SBFD slot.

[0141] FIG. 11 illustrates a flowchart of a method 1100 of communication implemented at a terminal device in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. The method 1100 can be implemented at the terminal device 110 shown in FIG. 1. For the purpose of discussion, the method 1100 will be described with reference to FIG. 1. It is to be understood that the method 1100 may include additional acts not shown and / or may omit some shown acts, and the scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0142] At 1110, the terminal device 110 receives, on a first set of resources and from a network device, system information comprising a resource configuration for a full duplex slot. The first set of resources is within a portion of first downlink shared channel resource set allocated to a full duplex slot, the portion overlapping with a second downlink shared channel resource set allocated to a non-full duplex slot. At 1120, the terminal device 110 performs an operation associated with the full duplex slot based on the resource configuration.

[0143] In some embodiments, the full duplex slot is a subband full duplex (SBFD) slot, and the resource configuration at least indicates one or more time and frequency resource sets for one or more frequency subbands of the SBFD slot.

[0144] FIG. 12 illustrates a flowchart of a method 1200 of communication implemented at a network device in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. The method 1200 can be implemented at the network device 120 shown in FIG. 1. For the purpose of discussion, the method 1200 will be described with reference to FIG. 1. It is to be understood that the method 1200 may include additional acts not shown and / or may omit some shown acts, and the scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0145] At 1210, the network device 120 transmits, on a first set of resources and to a terminal device, system information comprising a resource configuration for a full duplex slot. The first set of resources is within a portion of first downlink shared channel resource set allocated to a full duplex slot, the portion overlapping with a second downlink shared channel resource set allocated to a non-full duplex slot. The network device 120 performs an operation associated with the full duplex slot based on the resource configuration.

[0146] In some embodiments, the full duplex slot is a subband full duplex (SBFD) slot, and the resource configuration at least indicates one or more time and frequency resource sets for one or more frequency subbands of the SBFD slot.

[0147] FIG. 13 illustrates a flowchart of a method 1300 of communication implemented at  a terminal device in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. The method 1300 can be implemented at the terminal device 110 shown in FIG. 1. For the purpose of discussion, the method 1300 will be described with reference to FIG. 1. It is to be understood that the method 1300 may include additional acts not shown and / or may omit some shown acts, and the scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0148] At 1310, the terminal device 110 receives, from a network device, system information comprising a set of additional parameters specific to a full duplex slot and a common resource configuration for the full duplex slot and a non-full duplex slot. The set of additional parameters only comprises an essential portion of a plurality of parameters associated with full duplex operation, the essential portion indicating a resource location for a frequency subband. At 1320, the terminal device 110 performs an operation associated with the full duplex slot based on the essential portion.

[0149] In some embodiments, the terminal device may perform the operation by the following: performing a random access procedure to the network device based on the essential portion.

[0150] In some embodiments, the terminal device may perform the random access procedure by the following: receiving, from a network device, a random access channel (RACH) configuration indicating a plurality of random access channel occasions (RO) , wherein the plurality of ROs comprises a first set of ROs associated with a first configuration option and a second set of ROs associated with a second configuration option. The first configuration option is performed based on the set of additional parameters and the common resource configuration. The terminal device may further perform the random access by transmitting a random access channel using a RO of the first set of ROs.

[0151] In some embodiments, the system information is first system information, and the terminal device may further receive, from the network device, second system information comprising the plurality of parameters associated with the full duplex operation; and perform a further operation associated with the full duplex slot based on the plurality of parameters.

[0152] In some embodiments, the plurality of parameters comprises another portion associated with at least one of: a first operation in connected state during the full duplex slot; a second operation in inactive or idle state during the full duplex slot; or a second operation for cross slot.

[0153] In some embodiments, the first system information is transmitted on a first set of  resources; the second system information is transmitted on a second set of resources; and the first set of resources and the second set of resources are within a portion of first downlink shared channel resource set allocated to the full duplex slot, the portion overlapping with a second downlink shared channel resource set allocated to the non-full duplex slot.

[0154] In some embodiments, the terminal device may further obtain a cross slot requirement and a multiple system information block (SIB) capability; and determine, based on the cross slot requirement and the multiple SIB capability, whether in a random access procedure: i) to transmit a Message 1 (Msg 1) comprising an indication of a capability of the terminal device, ii) to transmit a Message 3 (Msg 3) comprising the indication, or iii) an error case. The capability of the terminal device comprises UE processing capability 1 and UE processing capability 2.

[0155] FIG. 14 illustrates a flowchart of a method 1400 of communication implemented at a network device in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. The method 1400 can be implemented at the network device 120 shown in FIG. 1. For the purpose of discussion, the method 1400 will be described with reference to FIG. 1. It is to be understood that the method 1400 may include additional acts not shown and / or may omit some shown acts, and the scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0156] At 1410, the network device 120 transmits, to a terminal device, system information comprising a set of additional parameters specific to a full duplex slot and a common resource configuration for the full duplex slot and a non-full duplex slot. The set of additional parameters only comprises an essential portion of a plurality of parameters associated with full duplex operation, the essential portion indicating a resource location for a frequency subband. At 1420, the network device 120 performs an operation associated with the full duplex slot based on the essential portion.

[0157] In some embodiments, the network device may further transmit, to the terminal device, a random access channel (RACH) configuration indicating a plurality of random access channel occasions (RO) , wherein the plurality of ROs comprises a first set of ROs associated with a first configuration option and a second set of ROs associated with a second configuration option, wherein the first configuration option is performed based on the set of additional parameters and the common resource configuration; receive a random access channel using a RO of the first set of ROs; and determine that a full duplex configuration for the terminal device is based on the first configuration option.

[0158] In some embodiments, the network device may further transmit, to the terminal device, second system information comprising the plurality of parameters associated with the full duplex operation.

[0159] In some embodiments, the plurality of parameters comprises another portion associated with at least one of: a first operation in connected state during the full duplex slot; a second operation in inactive or idle state during the full duplex slot; or a second operation for cross slot.
