Description

[0001] Mounting system for attaching electronic display devices for displaying product information

[0002] Technical field

[0003] The present invention relates to a fastening system and a method for fastening electronic display devices for displaying product information, as well as an electronic display device.

[0004] Background of the invention

[0005] In retail stores, products for sale are displayed on shelves. At one end of the shelf, facing the aisle, appropriate signage is provided, allowing consumers to obtain relevant product information. This product information and prices can be displayed on electronic display units known as "Electronic Shelf Label" units (ESL units). ESL units feature a display screen that can show various and changing information. Furthermore, ESL units can be powered internally (by battery) or connected to an external power source.

[0006] Such ESL units can be arranged interchangeably on the shelf. For this purpose, a mounting rail can be provided at the aisle end of the shelf, to which the ESL units are attached. WO 98 / 58360 discloses an electronic labeling system with a slide rail and an electronic display label. Slide rail wings of the slide rail each have a longitudinal groove between which the electronic display label is inserted. A pin is inserted in a groove and pre-tensioned by a spring, locking the ESL unit in this position. Using a magnetic tool, the pin can be moved against the spring force and thus unlocked to release the electronic display label.

[0007] Due to the need for special tools, such as magnetic tools, handling ESL units is complicated. It can also happen that the tool is misplaced or even lost, making it impossible to change the position of the ESL units in the store.

[0008] Presentation of the invention

[0009] It is an object of the present invention to provide a simple fastening system for attaching electronic display devices for product information.

[0010] This problem is solved by a fastening system and a method for fastening electronic display devices for displaying product information, as well as an electronic display device according to the independent claims.

[0011] According to a first aspect of the invention, a fastening system for mounting electronic display devices for displaying product information is described. The fastening system comprises a mounting rail and an electronic display device comprising a display screen for showing product information. The mounting rail has a mounting section and a support section, which are configured such that the electronic display device can be arranged between the mounting section and the support section in such a way that a gap exists between the electronic display device and at least the mounting section. The electronic display device has a movable mounting element which is movable relative to the mounting section such that, in a coupled position, the mounting element protrudes through the gap and is fixed to the mounting section, and in a removal position, in which the electronic display device can be removed from the mounting rail, it is decoupled from the mounting section. The mounting element is designed such that it can be moved into the removal position by means of a decoupling tool which can be inserted into the gap.

[0012] According to another aspect, the electronic display device, particularly for use in the fastening system described above, is described as displaying product information. The electronic display device has a display screen for showing product information, and the electronic display device can be arranged between a fastening section and a support section of a fastening rail such that there is a gap between the electronic display device and at least the fastening section.Furthermore, the electronic display device has a movable mounting element which is movable relative to the mounting section such that, in a coupled position, the mounting element protrudes through the gap and is fixed to the mounting section, and in a removal position, in which the electronic display device can be removed from the mounting rail, it is decoupled from the mounting section. The mounting element is designed such that it can be moved into the removal position by means of a decoupling tool which can be inserted into the gap.

[0013] According to a further aspect of the present invention, a method for attaching electronic display devices for displaying product information using the fastening system described above is explained. When the electronic display device is arranged between the fastening section and the support section of the fastening rail, a decoupling tool is inserted into the gap according to the method to move the fastening element into the removal position in order to remove the electronic display device from the fastening rail.

[0014] The electronic display device, which is in particular an "Electronic Shelf Label" unit (ESL unit), has a base body or frame that completely or partially surrounds the functional units of the display device. The base body can, for example, be designed as a housing and may include as functional units a power supply unit (battery), an internal control unit (microprocessor, CPU), and / or communication units (transmitter and / or receiver units). The base body also surrounds the display screen of the display device without covering it, so that the display device can be viewed from the outside. The base body is made in particular of a solid material, such as metal (aluminum) or plastic. The electronic display device can, for example, be controlled by an external control unit, allowing various images (price information, product information) to be displayed on the screen. Furthermore, the electronic display device can transmit status information, such as its battery charge level or other processing-specific status, to an external control unit. The display device receives the product information to be displayed from the external control unit (computer, server, or cloud solution) via wired or wireless connection.

[0015] The mounting rail can be attached to a retail shelf and has a direction of extension along which a receiving groove is formed for receiving at least one or more electronic display devices. The receiving groove is bounded at a first end by the mounting section and at an opposite, second, particularly lower end by the support section. The mounting rail is designed such that the electronic display device can be arranged between the mounting section and the support section. The mounting rail can be made, for example, of plastic, particularly a transparent plastic. Furthermore, the mounting rail can be made of a thin-walled metal material, such as stainless steel or aluminum, or of a natural material, such as wood, or of plastic.

[0016] The support section can have a bearing surface in which a longitudinal edge of the electronic display device can rest. In particular, the support section can have a further groove extending in the direction of travel, which, for example, at least partially surrounds a longitudinal edge of the electronic display device.

[0017] The mounting section of the mounting rail has, in particular, receiving openings into which the mounting element can be at least partially and releasably inserted. Furthermore, the mounting section can be designed such that, for example, the electronic display device can be fixed in place by means of a clamping force exerted by the mounting element against the mounting section. Alternatively, the mounting section can also be designed without receiving openings.

[0018] The electronic display device can be designed, in particular, as a plate with a rectangular, round, or elliptical contour. The electronic display device has two opposing edge sections, one of which can rest on the support section of the mounting rail. The mounting rail and the electronic display device are further designed such that when one edge section of the electronic display device rests on the support section, a gap exists between it and the opposing edge section that is closest to the mounting section of the mounting rail.

[0019] The gap width is designed to allow the insertion of a thin decoupling tool. The gap width describes the smallest distance between a longitudinal edge of the electronic display device and the mounting section of the mounting rail. In particular, the gap width is designed to prevent a user's fingers or similarly sized objects from entering the gap.

[0020] The fastening element is movable between a coupled position and a removal position on the electronic display device, particularly in an area near an edge of the electronic display device that is closest to the mounting section of the mounting rail. The fastening element is designed such that, due to its movable attachment to a base body of the electronic display device, the fastening element protrudes through the gap in the coupled position and can be fixed to the mounting section of the mounting rail. This prevents the electronic display device from being removed from the mounting rail without moving the fastening element to the removal position as described. For fixation, the fastening element can be pressed against the mounting section by means of a clamping force, thus creating a secure clamping connection. In another exemplary embodiment, the fastening element can engage (lock) into a receiving opening in the mounting rail to generate a positive-locking connection between the electronic display device and the mounting rail. The fastening element can, for example, have a fastening pin, bolt, stud, projection, or extension that engages in a receiving opening. Furthermore, the fastening element can have a surface-like coupling element, such as a clamping surface, which can be pressed against the mounting section in the coupling position to form a clamping connection. The mounting rail and the electronic display device are thus preferably designed for positive-locking and / or frictional coupling with each other.

[0021] The fastening element is designed such that, due to the decoupling tool which can be inserted into the gap, the fastening element is released from the fastening section of the mounting rail and moved towards the longitudinal edge or towards the electronic display device, thereby releasing the fixation between the fastening section and the fastening element and allowing the electronic display device to be removed. In other words, the electronic display device is structurally configured and designed to fit the mounting rail in such a way that, when the electronic display device is inserted into the mounting rail, the decoupling tool can be inserted into the gap between the front longitudinal edge of the mounting rail (facing the electronic display device) and the top or upper longitudinal edge of the electronic display device. With the aid of this tool, the

[0022] The mounting element is adjustable to such an extent that the electronic

[0023] The display device can be detached from the mounting rail.

[0024] In the coupled position, the fastening element projects from a longitudinal edge of the electronic display device into the gap and lies within the gap. In this position, the fastening element is completely within the gap and cannot be actuated from the outside. For example, the electronic display device has a display surface onto which the screen is visible. In the coupled position, the fastening element therefore does not protrude from the surface of the display area into the surrounding area, so manual actuation of the fastening element is not possible. If the fastening element is subjected to a force whose direction is parallel to the normal direction to the viewing surface of the display, the coupling between the display device and the mounting rail remains unaffected.

[0025] To ensure that the fastener can be operated simply by inserting a decoupling tool into the gap, complex decoupling tools, such as electronic or magnetic ones, are not necessary. For example, a thin, flat object, such as a credit card-sized piece, can be used as a decoupling tool to move the fastener into the removal position. At the same time, manual release by an unauthorized user is impossible, as the fastener is securely held within the gap.

[0026] According to another exemplary embodiment, the fastening element is elastically deformable such that it can be pre-tensioned into the removal position using the decoupling tool. The fastening element can, for example, be monolithic or integrally formed with the base body of the electronic display device. For instance, the fastening element can be made of an elastic plastic and project from an upper edge closest to the mounting section of the mounting rail towards the mounting section. Using the decoupling tool, which can be inserted into the gap, the fastening element can be elastically deformed and pre-tensioned so that it is in the removal position and the electronic display device can be removed from the mounting rail.Furthermore, the fastening element can be a separate component that is fixed to the base body of the electronic display device by a material (an adhesive) or mechanical connection (for example, a bolt or screw). The fastening element can be movably (rotatorily and / or translationally) attached to the electronic display device. In addition to or as an alternative to the movable arrangement, the electronic display device can deform elastically.

[0027] According to another exemplary embodiment, the electronic display device has a spring element configured and arranged to move the fastening element into the coupled position and to pre-tension the spring element in the removal position of the fastening element. By means of the decoupling tool, which can be inserted into the gap, the fastening element can be pre-tensioned by the spring element when the fastening element is in the removal position, and the electronic display device can be removed from the mounting rail. The spring element can be arranged such that it is designed as a compression spring, tension spring, or torsion spring. According to another exemplary embodiment, the mounting rail and the gap extend along a direction of extension, and the fastening element, which, for example,The fastening pin is movable transversely (especially 90°) to the direction of extension between the coupling position and the removal position.

[0028] The fastening element can move rotationally or translationally relative to the electronic display device between the coupling position and the removal position. In particular, the fastening element can be rotatably attached to the electronic display device, for example, rotatably about a rotational axis. Accordingly, the fastening element can, for example, have a fastening arm which is rotatably attached at one end to the electronic display device or to a part, for example, a housing part, of the electronic display device, and which forms a coupling point (for example, a fastening pin) with the fastening section of the mounting rail at an opposite end. Thus, the fastening element can be moved or rotated between the removal position and the coupling position.

[0029] The fastening element can, for example, form a fastening pin that moves rotationally or translationally together with the fastening element. The fastening pin can, for example, protrude from a free end of the fastening arm of the fastening element, thus forming an extension of the fastening arm to engage in a receiving opening of the fastening rail in a coupled position. In another exemplary embodiment, the fastening pin can move relative to a base body of the fastening element. For example, the fastening pin can be retractable into the base body of the fastening element and, for example, be spring-loaded. The fastening pin can, for example, form a pin or a bolt.According to another exemplary embodiment, the fastening element has an actuating section with an actuating surface, wherein the actuating section is designed such that it can be moved into the removal position when the decoupling tool is moved along the gap and along the actuating surface of the fastening element.

[0030] According to another exemplary embodiment, the actuating section is at least partially located within the gap, and the proportion of the actuating section within the gap increases along the direction of extension of the mounting rail. In the coupled position of the mounting element, the actuating surface extends, so to speak, in a wedge shape within the gap from the side of the electronic display device near the mounting section to the mounting section itself. If the decoupling tool now moves along the gap in its direction of extension, it slides along the actuating surface and thereby pushes the mounting element into the removal position.

[0031] According to another exemplary embodiment, the mounting section of the mounting rail has at least one receiving opening for receiving the fastening element in the coupled position. Thus, a positive-locking connection can be created in the coupled position of the fastening element by engaging it in the receiving opening.

[0032] According to another exemplary embodiment, the mounting section of the mounting rail has a plurality of receiving openings spaced apart in the extension direction of the mounting rail for receiving the fastening element, in particular the fastening pin of the fastening element, in the coupled position. They can be equidistant from each other or arranged spaced apart from each other according to a defined pattern.

[0033] The mounting section of the mounting rail has a mounting surface located opposite the surface of a longitudinal edge of the electronic display device that is closest to the mounting surface. A normal to the mounting surface is, for example, parallel to a normal to the surface of the longitudinal edge from which the mounting element protrudes. Furthermore, the normal to the mounting surface is orthogonal to the direction of extension of the mounting rail. The receiving openings are accordingly formed extending from the mounting surface into the mounting section.

[0034] Due to the numerous mounting holes, the electronic display device can be positioned as desired along the mounting rail. At the selected position, the mounting element essentially snaps into the corresponding mounting hole, thus preventing it from shifting along its length.

[0035] According to another exemplary embodiment, the gap between the electronic display device and the mounting section has a width of 0.5 mm to 1.0 mm, in particular 0.76 mm to 0.80 mm. This prevents the mounting element from being manually actuated, for example, by the finger of an unauthorized user. Furthermore, the gap width complies with the ISO / IEC 7810 ID-1 standard, which standardizes format sizes for cards, in particular bank cards, credit cards, or check cards. A suitably sized card (plastic card) can then be used as the decoupling tool, which can be inserted into the gap to actuate the mounting element. It is therefore not necessary to provide a complex decoupling tool to operate the mounting system of the present invention.

[0036] According to another exemplary embodiment, the electronic display device has an installation section located between the mounting section and the support section of the mounting rail, and a display section containing the display screen. The display section is designed such that it covers the support section of the mounting rail when the electronic display device, with its installation section, is positioned between the mounting section and the support section. The contour (circumference) of the installation section is smaller than the contour (circumference) of the display section. Functional elements of the electronic display device, such as batteries or the control electronics, can be located within the installation section. In particular, the mounting element can be attached to or integrated into the installation section. The display section can, for example, cover the support section, allowing for a larger display screen that is not limited, for example, by the size of the mounting groove of the mounting rail in which the installation section is located.

[0044] Fig. 1 shows a fastening system 100 for fastening electronic display devices 110 according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

[0045] The present invention relates to a fastening system 100 for mounting electronic display devices 110 for displaying product information, comprising a mounting rail 101 and an electronic display device 110 comprising a display screen 111 for displaying product information. The mounting rail 101 has a mounting section 102 and a support section 103, which are configured such that the electronic display device 110 can be arranged between the mounting section 102 and the support section 103 such that a gap 104 exists between the electronic display device 110 and at least the mounting section 102.The electronic display device 110 has a movable mounting element 112, which is movable relative to the mounting section 102 such that, in a coupled position, the mounting element 112 projects through the gap 104 and is fixed to the mounting section 102, and in a removal position, in which the electronic display device 110 can be removed from the mounting rail 101, it is decoupled from the mounting section 102. The mounting element 112 is designed such that, by means of a decoupling tool 201 (see Fig. 2), which can be inserted into the gap 104, the mounting element 112 can be moved into the removal position. The mounting rail 101 can be attached to a retail shelf and has an extension 105 along which a receiving groove 107 is formed for receiving the electronic display device 110.The receiving groove 107 is delimited, in particular at a first end, by the fastening section 102 and at an opposite second, in particular lower, end by the support section 103. The support section 103 has a bearing surface on which a longitudinal edge of the electronic display device 110 rests.

[0046] The fastening section 102 of the fastening rail 101 has in particular receiving openings 106 into which the fastening element 112 can be received at least partially and detachably.

[0047] The electronic display device 110 is designed in the form of a thin plate with a rectangular contour. The electronic display device 110 has two opposing edge sections, one of which rests on the support section 103 of the mounting rail 101. The mounting rail 101 and the electronic display device 110 are further designed such that when one edge section of the electronic display device 110 rests on the support section 103, a gap 104 exists between the opposing edge section, which is closest to the mounting section 102 of the mounting rail 101.

[0048] The mounting section 102 of the mounting rail 101 has a plurality of receiving openings 106 spaced apart in the extension direction 105 of the mounting rail 101 for receiving the mounting element in the coupled position. The receiving openings 106 are further arranged in the receiving groove 107 of the mounting rail 101. Due to the plurality of receiving openings 106, a desired position of the electronic display device 110 can be selected along the mounting rail 101 in the extension direction 105.

[0049] The gap 104 is designed such that a thin decoupling tool 201 (see Fig. 2) can be inserted. In particular, the gap 104 is designed such that a user's finger or similarly sized objects cannot penetrate it. The gap 104 between the electronic display device 110 and the mounting section 102 is between 0.5 mm and 1 mm wide. A suitably sized card (plastic card) can then be used for the decoupling tool 201, which can be inserted into the gap 104 with the width specified above to actuate the mounting element 112.

[0050] The fastening element 112 is movable between a coupled position (as shown in Fig. 1) and a removal position on the electronic display device 110, particularly in an area near an edge of the electronic display device 110 that is closest to the mounting section 102 of the mounting rail 101. The fastening element 112 is designed such that, due to its movable attachment to a base body of the electronic display device 110, the fastening element 112 projects through the gap 104 in the coupled position and is fixed to the mounting section 102 of the mounting rail 101, thus preventing the electronic display device 110 from being removed from the mounting rail 101.

[0051] The mounting rail 101 and the gap 104 extend along the direction of extension 105, and the mounting element 112 is movable transversely (in particular at 90°) to the direction of extension 105 between the coupling position and the removal position. The mounting element 112 can be elastically deformable so that it can be pre-tensioned into the removal position by means of the decoupling tool 201. The mounting element 112 can, for example, be formed monolithically or integrally and in one piece with the base body of the electronic display device 110. Additionally, a spring element 113 can be provided which presses the mounting element 112 into the coupling position.

[0052] As shown in the embodiment, in the coupled position the fastening element 112 engages in a receiving opening 106 of the mounting rail 101 in order to generate a positive locking connection between the electronic display device 110 and the mounting rail 101.

[0053] The fastening element 112 is designed such that, due to the decoupling tool 201, which can be inserted into the gap 104, the fastening element 112 is released from the fastening section 102 of the fastening rail 101 and is moved in the direction of the longitudinal edge or in the direction of the electronic display device 110, so that a fixation between the fastening section 102 and the fastening element 112 is released.

[0054] In the coupled position as shown in Fig. 1, the fastening element 112 projects from a longitudinal edge of the electronic display device 110 into the gap 104 and lies within the gap 104. In this coupled position, the fastening element 112 is completely within the gap 104 and cannot be actuated from the outside. For clarity, the fastening element 112 is shown near the surface of the electronic display device 110 in Fig. 1. The housing of the display device 110, as well as the mounting rail 101, are cut away in the area of the fastening element 112 and the receiving openings 106 to better illustrate their interaction. The electronic display device 110 has an installation section 116, located between the mounting section 102 and the support section 103 of the mounting rail 101, and a display section 117, in which the display screen 111 is located. The display section 117 is designed such that it covers the support section 103 of the mounting rail 101 when the electronic display device 110 with the installation section 116 is arranged between the mounting section 102 and the support section 103. The contour or circumference of the installation section 116 is smaller than the contour of the display section 117.

[0055] Furthermore, a guide edge 108 can project from the support section 103 towards the receiving groove 107, with the guide edge 108 extending in the direction 105. The display device 110 can be placed on the guide edge 108 with a corresponding guide groove 119. Thus, for example, the electronic display device 110 can be guided along the guide edge 108 in the direction 105, resulting in better fixation of the electronic display device 110 in the receiving groove 107 of the mounting rail 101.

[0056] In Fig. 2, the display device 110 is shown rotated 180 degrees compared to Fig. 1, i.e., viewed from the rear in perspective. To illustrate its functionality, the rear of its housing is cut away in the area of the mounting element 112. The mounting rail 101 is omitted, whereas the decoupling tool 201 is shown. The decoupling tool 201 is guided from left to right in the gap 104 above the display device 110 against the actuating surface 115. From the point of contact with the actuating surface 115, it slides along the surface and moves the actuating element 112 downwards, i.e., into the housing of the display device 110. This causes the coupling section of the mounting element 112 to slide out of the respective receiving opening 106, thus releasing the mounting rail 101.decoupled from this, and the display device 110 can be removed from the mounting rail 101.

[0057] The fastening element 112 is rotatably attached to the electronic display device 110, or to the housing of the display device 110, for example, rotatably about a rotational axis 118, and / or is elastically deformable. As shown in Fig. 2, the fastening element 112 can form a fastening arm which is rotatably attached to the electronic display device 110 at one end and forms a coupling point (e.g., a fastening pin of the fastening element 112) with the fastening section 102 of the mounting rail 101 at an opposite end. Accordingly, the fastening element 112 can be moved or rotated between the removal position and the coupling position.

[0058] Additionally or alternatively, the spring element 113 can be provided, which is configured and arranged to move (push) the fastening element 112 into the coupling position and to pre-tension the spring element 113 in the removal position of the fastening element 112. The housing of the display device 110 is shown open in Figure 2 to reveal the fastening element 112, the actuating section 114, and the spring element 113.

[0059] The decoupling tool 201 is shown schematically to better illustrate the release process of the electronic display device 110. The decoupling tool 201 is guided in the gap 104 in the direction of extension 105 and, as it moves along this direction, presses the fastening element 112 into the removal position, thereby pre-tensioning the spring element 113. By means of the decoupling tool 201, which can be guided in the gap 104, the fastening element 112 is deformed or moved so that it is in the removal position and the electronic display device 110 can be removed from the mounting rail 101.

[0060] The fastening element 112 has an actuating section 114 with an actuating surface 115, wherein the actuating section 114 is designed such that when the decoupling tool 201 is moved along the gap 104 and along the actuating surface 115, the fastening pin or the fastening element 112 can be moved into the removal position.

[0061] In the coupled position of the fastening element 112, the fastening surface 115 extends wedge-shaped within the gap 104 from the side of the electronic display device 110 near the fastening section 102 to the fastening section 102. If the decoupling tool 201 now moves in the extension direction 105 along the gap 104, the decoupling tool 201 slides along the actuating surface 115 and thereby presses the fastening element 112 into the removal position.

[0062] Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 show schematic representations of a fastening system 100 for fastening electronic display devices 110, in which a decoupling process of an electronic display device 110 from a fastening rail 101 is shown.

[0063] Initially, the electronic display device 110 is fixed in the mounting rail 101. Specifically, the electronic display device 110 rests on the support section 103 and forms a gap 104 with the mounting section 102. The mounting rail 101 has a plurality of receiving openings 106 arranged along its extension 105. Thus, the electronic display device 110 can be attached to the mounting rail 101 at virtually any position along its extension 105 by engaging the corresponding receiving opening 106 with the fastening element 112 shown in Figures 1 and 2.

[0064] Figure 4 illustrates the decoupling process. A user inserts the decoupling tool 201, for example a plastic card, into the gap 104 and moves it along the extension direction 105. The decoupling tool 201 slides along an actuating surface 115 of the electronic display device 110. This causes the fastening element 112 to move from the coupling position to the removal position during the movement of the decoupling tool 201, for example by rotating and / or elastically deforming it. Once the fastening element 112 is in the removal position and thus decoupled from the fastening section, the user can use another hand to detach the electronic display device 110 from the mounting rail 102.
