[0002] Hair transplant method

[0003] The present invention comprises a medical method, namely a plastic surgery method for hair transplantation.

[0004] As it currently stands, there are various treatment methods used for hair transplantation, such as: auto transplantation of one's own hair, flap surgery, excision of bald skin, plastic surgery using expanders and extenders (scalp reduction), and rarely implantation (transplantation) of artificial hair.

[0005] Hair transplantation is a method of restoring hair on one’s head, as well as in the areas of the moustache, beard, sidebums, eyebrows, eyelashes by surgical means. It is used to treat progressive alopecia of various types, as well as for hiding scars, wounds, bums, and the consequences of unsuccessful plastic surgeries on the face.

[0006] The closest analogue to the claimed invention is a method of follicular unit transplantation from the hairy part (donor) of the head to the bald part (RU 2171642 C2, 10.08.2001). Grafts are obtained from the skin of the hairy part of the head using the FUE method, after which slit micro-openings (channels are formed) are formed on the skin of the bald part of the head in accordance with the shape of the restored hair area (recipient zone) and the required density of the hair, into which the grafts are transplanted. Grafts with 1 to 2 hair follicles are placed on the border of the formed hair (anterior hairline), and a set of grafts with 2 to 4 hair follicles are placed on the remaining area.

[0007] This method is quite traumatic and requires a long rehabilitation period.

[0008] The technical problem of the claimed invention is the development of a method for hair transplantation with reduced trauma and obtaining an aesthetic result with a short rehabilitation period.

[0009] The technical result is a reduction in the rehabilitation period, improvement of aesthetics, and an increase in the degree of hair survival. The technical result is achieved by the fact that the hair transplantation method includes the following:

[0010] -preparation of the head donor area for extraction of follicles,

[0011] - placement of hairs with follicles from the donor area one by one,

[0012] - placement of hairs in a physiological solution at a maintained temperature of 0-4 °C,

[0013] - preparation of hair by treating it and follicles with mechanical removal of part of the natural surrounding environment, while maintaining integrity,

[0014] - preparation of the transfer area,

[0015] - implantation of hair by making holes with a needle to a depth of 3-5 mm and observing the angle and laying out of hairs.

[0016] The proposed preparation of hairs before transplantation allows preventing the natural environment surrounding them with follicles from coming to the surface during hair transplantation. Preventing the said natural environment from coming to the surface allows for an aesthetic appearance of the transplanted area immediately after the procedure, and reduces the possibility of folliculitis infection. Also, removing most of the natural environment allows for the use of thinner needles and, thus, reducing the trauma of the hair transplantation method.

[0017] In case of hair transplantation in the eyebrow area, a needle of 0.5 -0.6 mm in diameter is used, and the donor area of the head is the lowest part of the occipital area. Hair in this area of the head is usually thinner and softer and will lie better, which is of great importance when transplanting in the eyebrow area to obtain, inter alia, an aesthetic effect.

[0018] In case of hair transplantation in the head area, a 0.7-0.9 mm needle is used, and the donor area of the head is the area between the ears. In this area of the head, the hair is denser, which is preferable for hair transplantation in the head area.

[0019] The claimed method of hair transplantation allows obtaining a visible result immediately after the procedure, reducing the rehabilitation period, and increasing the degree of hair survival. The claimed method of hair transplantation allows implementing artistic hair transplantation, eyebrows by the AF - Art follicle method.

[0020] The summary of the claimed method of transplantation is explained by drawings:

[0021] Fig. 1 - view of the eyebrow area before transplantation, example 1,

[0022] Fig. 2 - view of the eyebrow area immediately after transplantation, example 1,

[0023] Fig. 3 - view of the eyebrow area two years after transplantation, example 1,

[0024] Fig. 4 - view of the eyebrow area at the beginning of transplantation, example 2,

[0025] Fig. 5 - view of the eyebrow area immediately after completion of transplantation, example 2,

[0026] Fig. 6 - view of the eyebrow area one year after transplantation, example 2 ,

[0027] Fig. 7 -front line of hair on the head before transplantation, example 3,

[0028] Fig. 8 -front line of hair on the head after transplantation, example 3,

[0029] Fig. 9 - view of the eyebrow transplantation zone after hair transplantation using a known method,

[0030] Fig. 10 - view of the head transplantation zone after hair transplantation using a known method.

[0031] Embodiment of invention

[0032] The hair from the donor area of the head is trimmed with a machine (3 mm nozzle), the donor area is disinfected (1% povidone + sponge 3 times) and anesthetized (along the edge of the donor area: 8 ml of physiological solution (saline), 5 ml of lidocaine, 5 drops of adrenaline, 3 injections, in the middle of the donor area: 10 ml of saline, 10 drops of adrenaline).

[0033] Extraction of hairs with follicles (grafts) is performed with a microdevice and tweezers, in one hair, observing the depth rule (3-5 mm) and the angle of hair growth. The removed hairs are placed on gauze in a saline solution at a temperature of 0-40C and the specified temperature is maintained using frozen saline solution. Preparation of hairs and follicles (grafts) is carried out using tweezers, blades, spatula and saline solution, by separating and mechanically cleaning the hair and follicle, maintaining their integrity and leaving a layer of the natural environment surrounding them no more than 0.5 mm thick.

[0034] The hairs are prepared as follows: a wooden spatula is placed, cooled saline solution is poured over it, one follicle is laid out, one hand holds the tweezers, and the other hand with the blunt side of a surgical knife in it scraps off the upper part of the substance (natural environment) surrounding the follicle. Then, with mechanical pressure using the sharp side of the surgical knife, part of the substance (natural environment) is separated along the follicle on both sides, leaving no more than 0.5 mm of the substance (natural environment) on the follicle.

[0035] The implantation area is prepared by disinfecting and anesthetizing (for eyebrows: disinfection of the entire face - povidone + sponge 3 times, anesthesia: 8 ml of saline, 5 ml of lidocaine, 5 drops of adrenaline (3 spots injection)).

[0036] Hair transplantation is carried out, observing the design. The holes (eyebrows

[0037] - needle No. 5 (0.5 mm) - for thin, soft hair; needle No. 6 (0.6 mm) - for dark, dense hair; head - needle No. 7 (0.7 mm) - for single hair of the front line, No. 9 (0.9 mm)

[0038] - for double hairs) are made and the angle of the needle is observed. When transferring the eyebrow area - the needle angle of 30 degrees is maintained, the distance between the hairs is 1.5 mm. For example: right eyebrow - starting from the middle of the eyebrow, the upper line - cut on the left, then the lower line - cut on the right, filling - cut on the left. When transferring the head area - the needle angle of 60-75 degrees maintained, the first 3 rows - 1 follicle = 1 pc, 4th row - 1 follicle = 2 pcs.

[0039] Example 1.

[0040] Patient A, 30 years old, complained about very little hair in the eyebrow area. 200 grafts were transplanted into the eyebrow area using the claimed method. Local anesthesia was used. The appearance of the eyebrow area before and after the procedure is shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, respectively. The presented figures show the aesthetic effect and the low degree of trauma to the eyebrow area, which allows for a shorter rehabilitation period. The hair survival rate is 98%. Fig. 3 shows the result of hair transplantation two years later.

[0041] Example 2.

[0042] Patient S., 25 years old, sought correction of eyebrow volume and shape. 180 grafts were transplanted into the eyebrow area using the claimed method. Local anesthesia. Fig. 4 shows the appearance of the eyebrow at the beginning of the claimed transplantation method. Fig. 5 shows the appearance of the eyebrow immediately after the transplantation. The hair survival rate is 98%. Fig. 6 shows the appearance of the eyebrow one year later.

[0043] Example 3.

[0044] Patient S, 35 years old, sought correction of the front hairline on her head. 1835 grafts were implanted into the baldness area using the claimed method. Local anesthesia. The hair survival rate is 97%.

[0045] The use of thin needles in hair transplantation allows for micro holes for hair transplantation, the micro distance between hairs allows for the natural growth. The claimed method of hair treatment before transplantation allows for a visible result to be obtained immediately after the procedure and aesthetic appearance of eyebrows (Fig. 2, Fig. 5) and hair (Fig. 8) compared to known methods (Fig. 9, Fig. 10). The claimed method is less traumatic and allows for a shorter rehabilitation period with the standard postoperative care.
