[0001] DESCRIPTION

[0002] A MOBILE SYSTEM DEVELOPED FOR FINGER REHABILITATION AND WORKING METHOD OF THIS SYSTEM

[0003] Technical Field

[0004] The invention is related to an electromechanical and pneumatic mobile finger rehabilitation system developed for performing therapeutic exercises, training, and related evaluations of the finger limbs in the human hand area, and the working method of this system. The system developed especially for mobility, strength measurement, hot-cold therapy, and electrotherapy includes a rehabilitation device, various measurement and exercise equipment, and exercise table treatment equipment.

[0005] State of the Art

[0006] Cerebrovascular accident (CVA) or stroke (paralysis) is a neurological disorder that results in brain damage due to insufficient oxygenation of an area of the brain. These diseases, which affect the independence of individuals in their life activities, are among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the world and in Turkey.

[0007] Increased use of electronic equipment such as computers and telephones is one of the leading causes of disability and loss of motor function, especially in the growing population of older people. Sensorimotor treatment is known to have positive effects on the rehabilitation progress of patients with stroke and joint disorders. Relevant criteria for successful treatment are the intensity, duration, and periodic repetition of treatment. The search for different treatment methods in the field of rehabilitation has continued from the past to the present for reasons such as the inadequacy of conventional rehabilitation practices in giving the desired results, often requirement of long-term application, questionable cost-effectiveness, and high need for treatment personnel and equipment.

[0008] In the state of the art, the systems used for finger rehabilitation consist of manual therapy systems and devices. These systems and devices are usually based on electromechanical or pneumatic principles. These devices often include one or more of the equipment that applies force, supports and measures the movement in order to improve and regain the finger movements of the patients. However, these devices have some important limitations and problems. The most basic problems and shortcomings encountered are as follows;

[0009] - Mobility and Control: Traditional finger rehabilitation devices often offer limited mobility and control. It is not possible to fully follow and support the sensitive and varied movements of the fingers.

[0010] - Strength and Pressure Measurement: Current devices often fail to provide sufficient precision in strength and pressure measurement. This makes it difficult to apply the right treatment practices.

[0011] - Variety of Treatment: Most conventional devices only support certain treatment methods and are not suitable for additional treatment methods such as hot-cold therapy or electrotherapy.

[0012] - Data Collection and Analysis: Existing devices are insufficient to effectively collect and analyze data in the treatment process. This makes it difficult to monitor and optimize the treatment process.

[0013] - User Experience, Safety and Comfort: Conventional devices can have shortcomings in terms of user experience and comfort. Non-ergonomic designs can cause discomfort during prolonged use. In addition, it is not possible to check the accuracy of the therapy and the patient's health with the data obtained from the patient.

[0014] In the state of the art, patent document KR101323105 contains components such as sensors and data transmission units, but does not specify that these components are combined in an integrated modular structure. These sensors are designed to obtain general health data only. The invention contains components focused on collecting and monitoring health data, but not components used for rehabilitation purposes.

[0015] In the state of the art, another patent document numbered US11246786 mentions a device designed especially for hand and finger rehabilitation. EMG sensor and MMG sensors are used in the device, however there are no additional systems that provide motion sensitivity such as flex sensors and silicone actuators. Finger movements are monitored by a more limited set of sensors. The invention does not have features such as hot-cold therapy, electrotherapy, detailed data collection and analysis, high- precision strength and pressure measurement. In application number WO2010085476, which is another document in the state of the art, a virtual reality (VR)-based rehabilitation system is mentioned. This system allows paralyzed patients to carry out the rehabilitation process in a virtual environment and enables exercises to be performed using virtual reality games. The current system has been developed only for the purpose of tracking finger and hand movements and interacting in a virtual environment. It does not include hot-cold therapy and electrotherapy modules. In addition, the management and analysis of data is limited.

[0016] Another document in the state of the art is the utility model application number CN205612699. Said document covers a rehabilitation training device specifically designed for patients with atrophy of finger function. This device has a therapeutic effect on improving finger movements and functions, and includes features such as a rubber base plate and a heating plate. The heating plate used to promote blood circulation of the hand and increase the therapeutic effect covers the field of heat therapy systems. Heat therapy is related to systems that are used in rehabilitation processes which reduce pain and increase blood circulation. The heating system of the device is insufficient to meet the more dynamic and customized treatment requirements due to heating only within a certain temperature range and in a constant manner. In general, the therapeutic functions of this device are limited to heating only and do not offer a special temperature setting or data collection feature.

[0017] For the reasons listed, there is a need for a system that eliminates these disadvantages.

[0018] Summary of the Invention

[0019] In the mobile system of the invention developed for finger rehabilitation, the aim is to provide high-precision mobility and control owing to the integrated use of electromechanical and pneumatic systems. This will enable the natural movements of the fingers to be more accurately and effectively executed, followed and supported. The advanced sensor technology in the invention will precisely measure the force and pressure exerted by the fingers, allowing for more accurate monitoring and optimization of the treatment process. The aim is to store and analyze the data collected during the treatment process, so that personalized treatment plans will be created by obtaining detailed feedback regarding the treatment process. By processing the data collected on the device, it will be able to share information on the detection of possible occupational diseases and early prevention.

[0020] An object of the invention is to provide pain control, acceleration of circulation, reduction of edema, and strengthening of the muscle by ensuring that the patient's muscles work without performing practices requiring intense activity by means of applying electrotherapy treatment, which is an electrical stimulation treatment applied by experts to individuals with post-traumatic muscle damage under expert supervision at different frequencies and intervals according to the patient's muscle damage state.

[0021] Another object of the invention is to reduce inflammation and excess edema in cases of injury and pain owing to the hot-cold compress treatment, which is one of the first physical therapy methods used according to the type of injury. In the physical therapy process, the aim is to avoid possible injuries by applying it at the beginning and end of the treatment.

[0022] Another object of the invention is that, thanks to the exercise control strategy, the device will be able to perform the entire process if the patient is unable to perform the exercise, the patient will be able to exercise with the help of the device if the patient is in an incapacitated state, and in exercises to increase the patient's muscle mass, the exercises for increasing muscle mass by applying force on the patient in the opposite direction will be performed.

[0023] Another object of the invention is to integrate concepts such as neuroplasticity and sensory integration into the treatment with the exercise table and equipment that can be integrated into the device, and the patient will not only perform hand-finger exercises, but also receive real feedback by touching. In the invention, the patient's reactions to the exercises will be monitored instantaneously with the help of sensors on the rehabilitation glove. Within the scope of these reactions, the amount of oxygen in the blood, the temperature of the person, and pulse rate data will be processed to prevent possible complications and check the accuracy of the therapy.

[0024] Another object of the invention is that rehabilitation and the ergonomic design of measuring gloves both will increase comfort during long-term use and provide a user- friendly experience. In addition, thanks to the mobile and modular structure of the device, it will provide flexibility in various treatment environments. This feature will allow the device to have a wide range of uses in hospitals, physical therapy centers, and at home. Compared to conventional manual therapy methods, the invention will offer more effective and faster results. This will save costs and time for both patients and treatment providers, and the advanced safety features will also ensure that users receive treatment safely.
