The method comprises: in response to a user-certificate-based identity verification operation triggered by a user, randomly determining a target capturing strategy for a user certificate, wherein the target capturing strategy includes a randomly selected capturing tilt state; outputting and displaying to the user capturing prompt information corresponding to the target capturing strategy, so as to prompt the user to adjust the tilt state of the user certificate in a captured picture on the basis of the target capturing strategy; in response to a capturing operation triggered by the user or a capturing countdown having ended, capturing a first random image including the user certificate; and determining whether the capturing tilt state corresponding to the user certificate in the first random image meets the target capturing strategy, and if said capturing tilt state meets the target capturing strategy, performing identity verification on the user on the basis of the captured user certificate.
