[0016] Detailed Description of the Disclosure

[0017] DISCLOSURE OVERVIEW

[0018] The specified technical result of the present disclosureis achieved by providing a fire extinguishing composition based on surfactants as a surface active .

[0019] The fire extinguishing composition comprising base and a surfactant, wherein:

[0020] (i) the base is a combustion in inhibitor in the amount of between about 70.0 -99.5 %by weight;

[0021] (ii) and the surfactant is a surface active substance (SAS) in the amount of between about 0.5 - 30.0 %by weight

[0022] The disclosure provides the feature is the composition contains freon as a base, for example 114B2 or fluoroketone, or for example FK-5-1-12.

[0023] Another additional feature is that the composition contains a surfactant. The surfactant is a surface active substance (SAS) , also known as a surface active agent (SAA)

[0024] By way o for example, the surfactant may be a synthetic, fluorosynthetic, protein, or fluoroprotein basis type surfactant.

[0025] Thus, the specified technical result of the present disclosure is provided by the following main factor or attribute as follows:

[0026] The fire extinguishing composition is a mixture of substances or components, where:

[0027] (1) the first substance is a combustion inhibitor, and a liquid base of the composition; and

[0028] (2) the second substance is a surfactant surface-active substance (SAS) capable of creating stable film-forming emulsions or foams, that increase the spreadability of the base, thus enhancing the fire point cooling effect.

[0029] In accordance with the disclosure, the first substance and the second substance, that is the base and the surfactant, must be miscible, that is must be able to be mixed together, such that this effect is distributed within the combustion inhibitor as provided by the liquid base of the composition.

[0030] As such, both the liquid base and the surfactant are polar substances, such that they can be mixed together as a substantially homogeneous distribution throughout the fire extinguishing composition of the present disclosure.

[0031] FIRE EXTINGUISHING COMPOSITIONS OF THE RESENT DISCLOSURE

[0032] In accordance with the present disclosure, the basic fire extinguishing composition is based on surface-active substances of the proposed family.

[0033] For example, the base may contains freon 114B2, freon 12B2 or mixtures thereof or fluoroketone FK 5-1-12.

[0034] The surface-active substances (SAS) , for example, may be provided a synthetic, fluorosynthetic, protein and fluoroprotein basis compound.

[0035] As is shown in the following table, the components included in the fire extinguishing composition are taken in the following ratios per 100%of the mass or weight as follows in table 1:

[0036] Table 1:

[0037] An increased amount of the base, for example, freon 114B2 or freon 12B2, or a mixture thereof or fluoroketone FK 5-1-12, provides for increased fire or flame inhibition effect when extinguishing a fire, which is especially necessary when extinguishing an inflamed gases such as hydrogen.

[0038] If the base content is less than 70 wt. %, then the effect of inhibiting combustion is reduced. If there is too little base, then it to create a stable film, emulsion or foam which is required by the present disclosure for the extinguishing of a fire. Furthermore, the overall heat absorption capacity of the fire extinguishing composition is also reduced.

[0039] If the base content is more than 99.5 wt. %, then the ability to dissolve the required amount of surfactant SAS to create a stable combination of the surfactant and the base is lost. The possibility to form stable emulsions, films, and foams is completely lost.

[0040] The surfactant (SAS) included in the mixture, with for example, a synthetic, fluorosynthetic, protein and fluoroprotein basis, allows for the creation stable emulsions or foams in a mixture with the base. When the surfactant (SAS) content is more than 30.0 wt. %, there is no increase in the efficiency of foaming, but the amount of the base used is significantly reduced, which reduces the efficiency of fire extinguishing when using the fire extinguishing composition.

[0041] When the surfactant content is less than 0.5 wt. %, the ability of the composition to form stable emulsions or foams disappears. Thus, the effect of using the surfactant (SAS) becomes almost imperceptible, and the fire extinguishing composition becomes incapable of suppressing fire effectively.

[0042] A specific feature and advantage of the fire extinguishing composition of the present disclosure based on surfactants allows to use it in extinguishing fire on solid, liquid and gaseous substances, and also as well as alkali metals.

[0043] The essence of the fire extinguishing composition of the present disclosurebased on surfactants is in the simultaneous creation of stable emulsions or foams in order to isolate the ignition point from oxygen. At the same time an intensive cooling effect of the fire point is provided in order to slow down or retard the combustion reaction, as well as to provide the chemical inhibition of the combustion.

[0044] EXAMPLES OF PRESENT DISCLOSUREAND EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS

[0045] Anexemplaryexample of the present disclosureis provided below, relating to the manufacturing method for a fire extinguishing composition based on surfactants.

[0046] The quantitative ratio of the components of the proposed fire extinguishing composition based on surfactants of the present disclosure, within the optimized ranges, was calculated using an experiment planning mathematical model and was confirmed by the results of an experimental trial of the functioning of compositions prototypes as to their intended purpose. These prototypes of the present disclosureshowed the achievement of improved and enhanced fire extinguishing characteristics.

[0047] Further, the description provides details regarding the implementation of the a fire extinguishing composition based on surfactants, and the achievement of the specified technical result has been confirmed.

[0048] In accordance with an embodiment or variant of producing a fire extinguishing composition based on surfactants according to the present disclosure, as provided as follows is an exemplaryimplementation variant of a fire extinguishing composition based on surfactants.

[0049] The fire extinguishing composition based on surfactants was prepared using industrial equipment according to the process flow chart of sequential operations of components mixing within the confidence range of their contents, which ensures the specified characteristics.

[0050] In order to prepare the fire extinguishing composition based on surfactants according to the disclosure, the following substances are used in table 2:

[0051] Table 2:

[0052] The base, for example, fluoroketone FK 5-1-12, was preliminarily checked for compliance with technical parameters, and the absence of impurities exceeding the required minimum parameters.

[0053] Surfactants, for example, on a synthetic, fluorosynthetic, protein and fluoroprotein basis, were checked for compliance with technical parameters and the absence of impurities exceeding the required minimum parameters in accordance with the technical requirements.

[0054] The composition components ratio was chosen according to the declared ranges of their content.

[0055] The base, for example, fluoroketone FK 5-1-12 was weighed in advance, taken at a temperature of 15 -20℃andpoured into the mixer. Then, a surfactant, also weighed in advance was added by portions, in accordance with the required characteristics of the final mixture.

[0056] The composition was mixed slowly for 5 -20 minutes at a temperature of 15 -20℃, ensuring the uniform distribution of the components throughout the mixture, and providing maximum contact between each other.

[0057] The prepared mixture was then poured into a container that is used in fire extinguishing devices. During experiments, an assessment of the comprehensive efficiency of the extinguishing of solid substances burning was carried out.

[0058] The tests were conducted in a specially designed room that provided safe working conditions for the operator and which had good lighting and ventilation. The air flow rate in the room was not more than 5 m / s.

[0059] A model point of fire outbreak was a wooden stack in the form of a cube. The stack was placed on two steel angle bars installed on concrete blocks so that the distance from the base of the stack to the floor was (400±10) mm, as follows: Number of wooden blocks in the stack, pcs 72 Block length ±10, in mm 500 Number of blocks in a layer, pcs 6 Number of layers 12 Free surface area of the model fire point, m2 4.70

[0060] Gasoline was ignited in a tray installed under a wooden stack. After 2 minutes of the gasoline burning the tray with gasoline was removed from under the stack.

[0061] After (7±1) minutes from the moment the tray was removed from under the stack, extinguishing was commenced with a fire extinguisher device filled with four kilograms of the test mixture under a pressure of 1.6 MPa.

[0062] The model point of fire outbreak was considered extinguished if no re-ignition with subsequent stable burning of the stack occurred within 10 minutes.

[0063] Variants of components of the fire extinguishing composition based on surfactants by 100%of the mass are summarized in the table as follows in table 3:

[0064] Table 3

[0065] Composition No. 1

[0066] Composition No. 1 was extinguishing the fire on the wooden stack surface steadily but produced too much foam due to the increased surfactant content, which did not allow to form a strong stream.

[0067] The operator had to approach too close to the fire point, which increased the danger of working with the fire. The fire extinguishing was difficult, as it was difficult for the foam to get inside and penetrate the stack, a second ignition occurred in five minutes.

[0068] Composition No. 2

[0069] Composition No. 2 extinguished the fire on the surface of the wooden stack steadily, similar to the test of composition No. 1, and also produced too much foam due to the increased surfactant content, which did not allow the formation of a strong stream.

[0070] The operator had to get too close to the source of the flame, which increased the danger of fire extinguishing operation. The fire extinguishing was difficult, as it was difficult for the foam to get inside the stack, at the end of the test, in the eighth minute, a second ignition occurred.

[0071] Composition No. 3

[0072] Composition No. 3 effectively extinguished the fire in the stack. The created emulsion spilled well, over the entire interior of the stack. After the fire was suppressed, no secondary ignition was recorded for 10 minutes.

[0073] Composition No. 4

[0074] Composition No. 4 had a high speed of fire extinguishing on the stack surface. As the emulsion of the base and the surfactant was not formed, the base could not evenly fix itself throughout the entire volume of the stack and form a protective coating. At the sixth minute, the secondary ignition of the stack occurred. As the experiments have shown, composition No. 3 has the best performance characteristics. Composition No. 3 marked off from the others due to the required stable extinguishing rate of the fire point, and no secondary ignitions were registered during the next 10 minutes after the end of the extinguishing operation.
