Abstract

Systems and methods for TBoMS-based Transmissions of Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) with a system information block (SIB) are discussed herein. For example, a UE may receive signaling from a network node indicating TBoMS-based transmissions of PDSCH with SIB. The UE may determine, based on the signaling, a number of slots for the TBoMS-based transmissions of the PDSCH with the SIB, and receive the PDSCH with the SIB with over the number of slots determined for the TBoMS-based transmissions.

Description

SCHEMES FOR TBOMS-BASED TRANSMISSIONS OF PDSCH WITH SIBTECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] This application relates generally to wireless communication systems, including the use of Transport Blocks over multiple slots for physical downlink shared channel with system information blocks.BACKGROUND

[0002] Wireless mobile communication technology uses various standards and protocols to transmit data between a base station and a wireless communication device. Wireless communication system standards and protocols can include, for example, 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Long Term Evolution (LTE) (e.g., 4G) , 3GPP New Radio (NR) (e.g., 5G) , and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 standard for Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) (commonly known to industry groups as  ) .

[0003] As contemplated by the 3GPP, different wireless communication systems'standards and protocols can use various radio access networks (RANs) for communicating between a base station of the RAN (which may also sometimes be referred to generally as a RAN node, a network node, or simply a node) and a wireless communication device known as a user equipment (UE) . 3GPP RANs can include, for example, Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) , Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE) RAN (GERAN) , Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (UTRAN) , Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) , and / or Next-Generation Radio Access Network (NG-RAN) .

[0004] Each RAN may use one or more radio access technologies (RATs) to perform communication between the base station and the UE. For example, the GERAN implements GSM and / or EDGE RAT, the UTRAN implements Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS) RAT or other 3GPP RAT, the E-UTRAN implements LTE RAT (sometimes simply referred to as LTE) , and NG-RAN implements NR RAT (sometimes referred to herein as 5G RAT, 5G NR RAT, or simply NR) . In certain deployments, the E-UTRAN may also implement NR RAT. In certain deployments, NG-RAN may also implement LTE RAT.

[0005] A base station used by a RAN may correspond to that RAN. One example of an E-UTRAN base station is an Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) Node B (also commonly denoted as evolved Node B, enhanced Node B, eNodeB, or eNB) . One example of an NG-RAN base station is a next generation Node B (also sometimes referred to as a g Node B or gNB) .

[0006] A RAN provides its communication services with external entities through its connection to a core network (CN) . For example, E-UTRAN may utilize an Evolved Packet Core (EPC) while NG-RAN may utilize a 5G Core Network (5GC) .

[0007] Frequency bands for 5G NR may be separated into two or more different frequency ranges. For example, Frequency Range 1 (FR1) may include frequency bands operating in sub-6 gigahertz (GHz) frequencies, some of which are bands that may be used by previous standards, and may potentially be extended to cover new spectrum offerings from 410 megahertz (MHz) to 7125 MHz. Frequency Range 2 (FR2) may include frequency bands from 24.25 GHz to 52.6 GHz. Note that in some systems, FR2 may also include frequency bands from 52.6 GHz to 71 GHz (or beyond) . Bands in the millimeter wave (mmWave) range of FR2 may have smaller coverage but potentially higher available bandwidth than bands in FR1. Skilled persons will recognize these frequency ranges, which are provided by way of example, may change from time to time or from region to region.

[0019] FIG. 10 illustrates a system for performing signaling between a wireless device and a network device, according to embodiments disclosed herein.DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0020] Various embodiments are described with regard to a UE. However, reference to a UE is merely provided for illustrative purposes. The example embodiments may be utilized with any electronic component that may establish a connection to a network and is configured with the hardware, software, and / or firmware to exchange information and data with the network. Therefore, the UE as described herein is used to represent any appropriate electronic component.

[0021] In some wireless communication systems, non-terrestrial network (NTN) downlink (DL) coverage is used. Some downlink coverage enhancements targeting support for additional reference satellite payload parameters covering both geosynchronous orbit (GSO) and non-geosynchronous orbit (NGSO) constellations operating in FR1-NTN or FR2-NTN may be beneficial. For example, it may be beneficial to define additional reference satellite payload parameters assuming power sharing among satellite beams or different satellite beam patterns / size (e.g., wide or narrow) across the satellite footprint, such that satellite beams may not all be simultaneously active or may be active below the nominal EIRP density per satellite beam (in, for example, section 6.1.1 of 3GPP technical report (TR) 38.821) due to limited power and limited feeder link bandwidth. It may also be beneficial to define the corresponding power sharing assumptions and necessary link level and system level evaluation methodology and relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) for evaluations of the coverage to allow for identification of physical channels / signals and system-level aspects that need enhancements and the corresponding needed improvements.

[0022] Further, it may also be beneficial to specify link level enhancements for FR1-NTN (e.g., for a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) and / or a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) ) and / or system level enhancements for FR1-NTN and / or FR2-NTN,  allowing dynamic and flexible power sharing between satellite beams or different satellite beam patterns / size (i.e., wide or narrow) across the satellite footprint. Note that the SSB channel enhancements were not considered and antenna gain of the UE may be assumed to be -5.5 decibels relative to isotropic (dBi) in case of smartphones operating in FR1-NTN. The UE may be assumed to be a full duplex UE and at least two reception (Rx) are considered at the UE. The NGSO may be considered in priority with low earth orbit (LEO) Set-1 at, for example, 600 kilometer (km) . Additionally, network energy saving techniques may be considered as a baseline in system level discussions.

[0023] In some wireless communication mechanisms, as part of the NTN DL coverage enhancements at both the system level and at the link level, extending the periodicity of the half frames with synchronization signal (SS)  / physical broadcast channel (PBCH) blocks assumed by UE during initial access may be considered. Default value (s) with extended periodicity assumed by NTN UE for initial access may be one (or more) values from the list of values such as {40ms, 80 milliseconds (ms) , 160 ms, 320 ms, 640 ms} . In some examples, potential enhancements for transmitting the DL common channels using a wider beam footprint, while DL and / or uplink (UL) dedicated channels (including a physical random access channel (PRACH) ) may be transmitted using a narrower beam footprint.

[0024] Additionally, link-level enhancements for various channels may be considered. Link-level enhancements may be beneficial for channels including a PDCCH and / or a PDSCH with Msg 4, and / or a PDSCH with SIB1 / SIB19. Note that link-level enhancements for PDSCH with SIB1 and / or SIB19 may be applicable to other SIBs, without additional specification impact. Also note that in some embodiments all channels previously discussed may not be enhanced, however enhancements for the channels may be considered.

[0025] In some wireless communication systems, for downlink control information (DCI) format 1_0 contents with system information (SI) -radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) (SI-RNTI) , information may be transmitted by means of the DCI format 1_0 with cyclic redundancy check (CRC) scrambled by the SI-RNTI. For example, the information may include a frequency domain resource assignment, a time domain resource assignment (e.g., 4 bits as defined in Clause 5.1.2.1 of 3GPP technical specification (TS) 38.214) , variable resource block (VRB) -to-physical resource block (PRB) mapping (e.g., 1 bit according to Table 7.3.1.2.2-5 of 3GPP 38.214) , modulation and coding scheme (e.g., 5 bits as defined in Clause 5.1.3 of 3GPP TS 38.214, using Table 5.1.3.1-1) , redundancy version (e.g., 2 bits as defined in Table 7.3.1.1.1-2 of 3GPP 38.214) , system information indicator (e.g., 1 bit as defined in Table 7.3.1.2.1-2 of 3GPP 38.214) , and reserved bits (e.g., 17 bits  for operation in a cell with shared spectrum channel access in frequency range 1 or for operation in a cell in frequency range 2-2; otherwise 15 bits) .

[0026] Transport Blocks (TB) over multiple slots (TBoMS) for Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) transmissions is a technique that can be used to enhance coverage in wireless communication systems by improving the ability of the UE to successfully transmit data in challenging radio environments, such as at the edge of a cell or in areas with poor signal quality. In some embodiments TBoMS is applied to uplink transmissions (e.g., PUSCH transmissions) and not to downlink transmissions (e.g., Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) transmissions) .

[0027] TBS (Transport Block Size) determination for transmitting a TBoMS involves the process of calculating the amount of data that can be transmitted by a UE over the PUSCH in a given transmission, which may span multiple slots. In Release-15 and Release-16 of the standard for 3GPP, TBS is determined according to available resource elements (REs) in one slot using the following equation.  NRE=min(156, N′RE) *nPRB;Ninfo = NRE * R * Qm * v

[0028] In Release-17 for 3GPP, TBS is determined based on multiple slots and transmitted over multiple slots. In some embodiments, frequency domain resource allocation (FDRA) for TBoMS may use the same number of Physical Resource Blocks (PRBs) per symbol is allocated across slots for TBoMS transmissions.

[0029] In some embodiments, for time domain resource allocation (TDRA) for TBoMS the number of slots for a single TBoMS (N) is counted based on the available slots for uplink. For PUSCH repetition type A-like TDRA, the number of allocated symbols is the same in each slot.  can be same for all slots; N_info may be based on number of REs determined in the first L symbols over which TBoMS transmission is allocated, then scale by the number of allocated slots. The number of layer may be 1. NRE=N*min (156, N′RE) *nPRB.

[0030] For TBoMS rate matching, bit interleaving may be performed per slot. Further for TBoMS rate matching, transmission may be limited to one code block (CB) only. Also, for TBoMS rate matching, the Uplink Control Information (UCI) may be multiplexed on the individual overlapping slot.

[0031] For TBoMS repetition, repetitions of single TBoMS may be supported. The number of repetitions may be denoted by M. Accordingly, a total number of slots may be determined by multiplying the number the number of slots for a single TBoMS (N) by the  number of repetitions (M) . In some embodiments, the total number of slots may have a limit of less than equal to 32 (i.e., M*N<=32) . In some embodiments, if numberOfRepetitions is not configured in the TDRA table, then the number of repetitions M=1.

[0032] For TBoMS redundancy version (RV) , a single RV may be used to transmit a single TBoMS. For repetition of a single TBoMS transmission, RV may be cycled across TBoMS repetitions.

[0033] For TBoMS configurations, TBoMS may be supported for both configured grant and dynamic grant. The TBoMS feature may be enabled (or disabled) by configuring (or not) the number of allocated slots for a single TBoMS (N) in a row of the TDRA table.

[0034] For TBoMS frequency hopping, intra-slot and inter-slot frequency hopping framework used in PUSCH repetition Type A may be supported. For TBoMS retransmission, the network node may schedule only complete retransmissions of TBs. The re-transmission could be single slot PUSCH retransmission or TBoMS retransmission, which may be up to network node scheduling.

[0035] Some embodiments herein provide methods to use TBoMS for PDSCH. Some embodiments provide ways to indicate the TBoMS-based PDSCH for System Information Blocks (SIBs) . Embodiments herein introduce procedures and signaling of TBoMS transmissions of PDSCH with SIB. The procedures and signaling may be used for indicating or configurating TBoMS transmissions of PDSCH with System Information Block Type 1 (SIB1) or other SIBs.

[0036] Some embodiments may use a SIB1-based indication for TBoMS transmissions for SIBs. For example, a network node may send a UE a SIB1 that indicates a single number of slots for TBoMS based transmissions for PDSCH with SIBs other than SIB1. As another example, SIB1 may configure a TDRA table where each entry is associated with a number of slots for TBoMS based transmissions.

[0037] Some embodiments may use a pre-defined number of slots for TBoMS to indicate the TBoMS-based PDSCH for SIBs. Activation or deactivation of TBoMS with the pre-defined number of slots may be sent from the network node to the UE via SIB1, Downlink Control Information (DCI) , or Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RNTI) .

[0038] Some embodiments may use a DCI-based indication to indicate the TBoMS-based PDSCH for SIBs. Some embodiments may use the DCI-based indication in combination with an SIB1 configuration. For example, the SIB1 may configure multiple numbers of slots for TBoMS, A DCI or different RNTIs may be used to indicate which number of slots is used. Other embodiments may use a DCI-based indication without SIB1 configuration. For  instance, if a new RNTI is used to scramble the cyclic redundancy check (CRC) of DCI format 1_0, then the “reserved bits” in DCI may be reinterpreted to indicate the number of slots for TBoMS.

[0039] Some embodiments may also provide a backward compatibility design for TBoMS for SIB transmissions. Some UEs may not support TBoMS for SIB transmissions but still need to receive SIB. Some embodiments may introduce additional SI-window for PDSCH with TBoMS transmissions.

[0040] FIG. 1 illustrates a flow chart of a method 110 performed by a UE for receiving PDSCH with SIB transmitted with TBoMS using a SIB1 based indication in accordance with some embodiments. In such embodiments, the SIBs sent using TBoMS may be SIBs other than SIB1 (e.g., SIB19) .

[0041] In some embodiments, a network node may generate and send a SIB1 comprising an indication of the number of slots for TBoMS. The SIB1 may include a configuration of the number of slots for TBoMS based transmissions of PDSCH with other SIBs (e.g., SIB19) . The UE may receive 102 SIB1 with the configuration of number of slots for TBoMS based transmissions of PDSCH with other SIBs. The configuration may provide the number of slots for TBoMS based transmissions or provide multiple potential number of slots for TBoMS based transmissions.

[0042] For example, in some embodiments, the SIB1 may indicate a single number of slots for TBoMS based transmissions for PDSCH with SIBs other than SIB1. In some embodiments the same or different number of slots may be applied to PDSCH with different SIBs. For example, SIB1 may indicate that SIB 19 uses 4-slot based PDSCH transmissions, and that SIB 2 uses 2-slot based PDSCH transmissions.

[0043] In some embodiments, the SIB1 may configure a TDRA table where each entry is associated with a number of slots for TBoMS based transmissions. Each TDRA table entry may have a corresponding number of slots for TBoMS. For example, table 1 below may be configured via the SIB1. Specifically, the SIB1 may indicate the number of slots for TBoMS for each table entry.

[0044] The network node may generate and send a DCI for scheduling SIBs other than SIB1 to the UE. The UE may receive 104 the DCI for scheduling SIBs other than SIB1 (also referred to herein as other SIBs) .

[0045] The UE may determine 106 the number of slots for TBoMS based transmissions of PDSCH with other SIBs, based on SIB1 configuration and / or DCI. For example, in embodiments where the SIB1 indicates a single number of slots for TBoMS based transmissions for PDSCH with SIBs other than SIB1, the UE may determine the type of SIB for reception and determine whether / number of slots for TBoMS transmissions based on the SIB1. For example, the if SIB1 indicates that SIB 19 uses 4-slot based PDSCH transmissions and indicates that SIB 2 uses 2-slot based PDSCH transmissions, the UE may determine whether the SIB is a SIB 19 or a SIB 2 and determine that the transmission uses 4 slots or 2 slots based on the SIB type.

[0046] For embodiments where SIB1 configures a TDRA table where each entry is associated with a number of slots for TBoMS based transmissions, the UE may decode DCI fields of TDRA, and determine the number of slots for TBoMS from TDRA table (e.g., Table 1) .

[0047] The network node may transmit the PDSCH with the SIB over the number of slots indicated in the SIB1 and / or DCI for TBoMS. The UE may receive 108 the PDSCH with other SIBs with the indicated number of slots for TBoMS. TBS determination may be based on the determined number of slots for TBoMS. TDRA on each slot may be the same over  the number of slots for TBoMS. FDRA on each slot may be the same over the number of slots for TBoMS.

[0048] In some embodiments, a pre-defined number of slots for TBoMS may be used for the TBoMS-based PDSCH for SIBs. In some embodiments a different pre-defined number of slots for TBoMS may be used for different SIBs. Activation or deactivation of TBoMS with the pre-defined number of slots may be sent from the network node to the UE via SIB1, DCI, or RNTI. FIG. 2, FIG. 3, and FIG. 4 illustrate methods where a pre-defined number of slots for TBoMS or the TBoMS-based PDSCH for SIBs is activated using one of SIB1, DCI, or RNTI.

[0049] Specifically, FIG. 2 illustrates a flow chart of a method 210 performed by a UE for receiving PDSCH with SIB using a pre-defined number of slots for TBoMS where the TBoMS configuration is activated using a SIB1 in accordance with some embodiments. In such embodiments, the pre-defined number for TBoMS is applied if SIB1 configures the activation of TBoMS. Legacy transmission (e.g., no TBoMS) of PDSCH for SIBs may be applied if SIB1 configures the deactivation of TBoMS for PDSCH with SIB, or if TBoMS for PDSCH with SIB is not configured.

[0050] For example, a network node may generate and send a SIB1 with the activation of a pre-defined number of slots for TBoMS based transmissions of PDSCH with other SIBs. The UE may receive 202 the SIB1 with the activation. The network node may also send a DCI for scheduling other SIBs which the UE may receive 204.

[0051] The UE may determine 206 the number of slots for TBoMS based transmissions of PDSCH with other SIBs, based on SIB1 activation. For example, one or more pre-defined number of slots may be defined for the SIBs. For instance, if the pre-defined number of slots indicates that SIB 19 uses 4-slot based PDSCH transmissions and indicates that SIB 2 uses 2-slot based PDSCH transmissions, the UE may determine whether the SIB is a SIB 19 or a SIB 2, determine that the transmission uses 4 slots or 2 slots based on the SIB type, and that TBoMS is activated based on the SIB1.

[0052] The network node may transmit the PDSCH with the SIB over the pre-defined number of slots for TBoMS. The UE may receive 208 the PDSCH with other SIB with the pre-defined number of slots for TBoMS. In some embodiments, the network node may send the UE another SIB1 comprising a deactivation indication that indicates the TBoMS for PDSCH for SIBs is no longer active.

[0053] FIG. 3 illustrates a flow chart of a method 308 performed by a UE for receiving PDSCH with SIB using a pre-defined number of slots for TBoMS where the TBoMS  configuration is activated using a DCI in accordance with some embodiments. In such embodiments, the DCI may include a field to indicate the activation or deactivation of TBoMS with the pre-defined number of slots. For example, in some embodiments the DCI may include a reserved bit in DCI 1_0 with CRC scrambled by SI-RNTI (being 1) to indicate the activation of TBoMS with a pre-defined slot number. This approach may apply for TBoMS for SIB1 as well as other SIB.

[0054] For example, in the illustrated embodiment the network node may generate and send a DCI for scheduling SIBs to the UE. The DCI may include a field that indicates activation or deactivation of TBoMS with the pre-defined number of slots. The UE may receive 302 the DCI.

[0055] The UE may determine 304 the number of slots for TBoMS based transmissions of PDSCH with SIBs based transmissions of PDSCH with SIBs based on the DCI. For example, in some embodiments the UE may determine that TBoMS is activated or deactivated based on DCI format 1_0, “reserved bit” . For example, one or more pre-defined number of slots may be defined for the SIBs. For instance, if the pre-defined number of slots indicates that SIB 19 uses 4-slot based PDSCH transmissions and indicates that SIB 2 uses 2-slot based PDSCH transmissions, the UE may determine whether the SIB is a SIB 19 or a SIB 2, determine that the transmission uses 4 slots or 2 slots based on the SIB type, and that TBoMS is activated based on the DCI.

[0056] The network node may transmit the PDSCH with the SIB over the pre-defined number of slots for TBoMS. The UE may receive 306 the PDSCH with SIBs with the pre-defined number of slots for TBoMS. In some embodiments, the network node may send the UE another DCI comprising a deactivation indication that indicates the TBoMS for PDSCH for SIBs is no longer active.

[0057] FIG. 4 illustrates a flow chart of a method 408 performed by a UE for receiving PDSCH with SIB using a pre-defined number of slots for TBoMS where the TBoMS configuration is activated via RNTI in accordance with some embodiments. In such embodiments, a new RNTI, other than SI-RNTI, may be used to scramble the CRC of DCI scheduling SIB. When the new RNTI is used to scramble the CRC of the DCI scheduling SIBs, it indicates the corresponding PDSCH with SIB are transmitted in TBoMS format. This RNTI can be either pre-defined or configured via SIB1. If the RNTI is pre-defined, then this approach may apply for TBoMS for SIB1 as well as other SIBs.

[0058] For example, in the illustrated embodiment the network node may also generate and send a DCI for scheduling SIBs to the UE. The DCI may use a different RNTI to scramble  the CRC of the DCI, where the use of the different RNTI indicates that the corresponding PDSCH with SIB are transmitted in TBoMS format. The UE may receive 402 the DCI.

[0059] The UE may determine 404 the number of slots for TBoMS based transmissions of PDSCH with SIBs based transmissions of PDSCH with SIBs based on the RNTI to decode DCI format 1_0. For example, one or more pre-defined number of slots may be defined for the SIBs. For instance, if the pre-defined number of slots indicates that SIB 19 uses 4-slot based PDSCH transmissions and indicates that SIB 2 uses 2-slot based PDSCH transmissions, the UE may determine whether the SIB is a SIB 19 or a SIB 2, determine that the transmission uses 4 slots or 2 slots based on the SIB type, and that TBoMS is activated based on the RNTI.

[0060] The network node may transmit the PDSCH with the SIB over the pre-defined number of slots for TBoMS. The UE may receive 406 the PDSCH with SIBs with the pre-defined number of slots for TBoMS. In some embodiments, the network node may send the UE another DCI with an RNTI to indicate the TBoMS for PDSCH for SIBs is no longer active.

[0061] FIG. 5 illustrates a flow chart of a method 510 performed by a UE for determining a configuration for TBoMS for PDSCH with SIB using a DCI-based indication in accordance with some embodiments. In such embodiments, the DCI based indication may be used with or without an SIB configuration.

[0062] For example, in some embodiments the DCI-based indication may be used with a SIB1 configuration. The SIB1 may configure multiple numbers of slots for TBoMS. In some embodiments, the DCI may be used to indicate which number of slots is used. For example, “reserved bits” in DCI 1_0 may be used to indicate which of the numbers of slots for TBoMS configured by SIB1 should be used. In other embodiments, different RNTIs may be used to scramble the CRC of DCI format 1_0, and each RNTI may correspond to a different number of slots for TBoMS. These RNTIs may be pre-defined or configured via SIB1.

[0063] For example, in the illustrated embodiment, the UE may receive 502 an SIB1 configuring multiple number of slots for TBoMS based transmissions of PDSCH with other SIBs. The UE may receive 504 a DCI for scheduling other SIBs. The UE may determine 506 the number of slots for TBoMS based transmissions of PDSCH with other SIBs, based on the DCI indication. The UE may receive 508 PDSCH with other SIBs with the indicated number of slots for TBoMS.

[0064] In some embodiments the DCI-based indication may be used without a SIB1 configuration. For example, if a new RNTI that is associated with TBoMS for PDSCH with  SIBs is used to scramble the CRC of DCI format 1_0, then the “reserved bits” in DCI may be reinterpreted to indicate the number of slots for TBoMS. The new RNTI may be pre-defined. Such an approach may be applied for TBoMS for SIB1 as well as other SIBs. For example, two least significant bits (LSBs) of reserved bit may be set to indicate the TBoMS slots used (e.g., two LSBs of reserved bit: “00” corresponds to no TBoMS-based transmissions of PDSCH with SIB, “01” corresponds to a 2-slot based PDSCH transmissions; “10” corresponds to a 3-slot based PDSCH transmissions, and “11” corresponds to a 4-slot based PDSCH transmissions) . In some embodiments, if SI-RNTI is used to scramble the CRC of DCI format 1_0, then there is no TBoMS transmission.

[0065] Legacy devices that do not support PDSCH with TBoMS transmission may be unable to decode the PDSCH with TBoMS transmission. Accordingly, some embodiments may provide a backward compatibility design for TBoMS for SIB transmissions. For example, some embodiments may introduce an additional SI-window for PDSCH with TBoMS transmissions. For instance, FIG. 6 illustrates an example transmission timeline 602 with a legacy SI-window 604 and an additional SI-window 606 in accordance with some embodiments.

[0066] TBoMS based PDSCH transmissions (e.g., PDSCH with TBoMS 608, PDSCH with TBoMS 610, and PDSCH with TBoMS 612) only occur in the additional SI-window 606. Accordingly, the legacy UE is not impacted as legacy PDSCH transmission occurs in the legacy SI-window 604.

[0067] A new additional-SI-windowlength may be configured or pre-defined. The additional-SI-windowlength may define the length of the additional SI-window 606. This length may be same or different from SI-windowlength in the IE of “SI-SchedulingInfo” that defines the length of the legacy SI-window 604.

[0068] A new Additional-SI-Periodicity may be configured or pre-defined. This periodicity may define the periodicity of the additional SI-window 606. This periodicity may be same or different from si-Periodicity in the IE of “SchedulingInfo” that defines the periodicity of the legacy SI-window 604.

[0069] A new offset may be introduced to determine the system frame number (SFN) for the additional SI-window 606, based on the legacy SI-window 604 of the same SIB type. Additional SearchSpace may be configured for the additional SI-window 606. This PDCCH monitoring periodicity may be same or different from that in the legacy SI-window 604.

[0070] FIG. 7 illustrates a method 700 performed by a UE, according to embodiments herein. The illustrated method 700 includes receiving 702 signaling from a network node  indicating TBoMS-based transmissions of a PDSCH with an SIB. The method 700 further includes determining 704, based on the signaling, a number of slots for the TBoMS-based transmissions of the PDSCH with the SIB. The method 700 further includes receiving 706 the PDSCH with the SIB with over the number of slots determined for the TBoMS-based transmissions.

[0071] In some embodiments of the method 700, receiving the signaling from the network node indicating the TBoMS-based transmissions of the PDSCH with the SIB comprises receiving a SIB1 comprising a parameter that indicates the number of slots for the TBoMS-based transmissions of the PDSCH with the SIB.

[0072] In some embodiments of the method 700, receiving the signaling from the network node indicating the TBoMS-based transmissions of the PDSCH with the SIB comprises receiving a SIB1 comprising a configuration for a TDRA table where each entry in the TDRA table is associated with a corresponding number of slots for the TBoMS-based transmissions.

[0073] In some embodiments of the method 700, receiving the signaling from the network node indicating the TBoMS-based transmissions of the PDSCH with the SIB comprises receiving an activation indication via a SIB1, a DCI, or a RNTI, wherein the number of slots is pre-defined.

[0074] In some embodiments of the method 700, receiving the signaling from the network node indicating the TBoMS-based transmissions of the PDSCH with the SIB comprises receiving a DCI indicating the number of slots. Some such embodiments further comprise receiving a SIB1 comprising a configuration for multiple different numbers of slots for the TBoMS-based transmissions wherein the DCI comprises bits that indicate which of the multiple different numbers of slots is used for the PDSCH with the SIB. Some other such embodiments further comprise receiving a SIB1 comprising a configuration for multiple different numbers of slots for the TBoMS-based transmissions wherein different RNTIs each correspond to a different number of slots for TBoMS and wherein the number of slots for the TBoMS-based transmissions of the PDSCH with the SIB is determined based on an RNTI used to scramble a CRC of the DCI. In some other such embodiments, in response to a RNTI that is associated with TBoMS being used to scramble a CRC of the DCI, determining the number of slots comprises interpreting reserved bits in the DCI as indicating the number of slots.

[0075] In some embodiments of the method 700, the PDSCH is received during a SI-window that is dedicated for PDSCH with TBoMS transmissions, wherein the SI-window is different than a legacy SI-window used to receive SIB without TBoMS.

[0076] FIG. 8 illustrates a method 800 performed by a network node, according to embodiments herein. The illustrated method 800 includes sending 802 signaling to a UE indicating TBoMS-based transmissions of a PDSCH with an SIB wherein the signaling corresponds to a number of slots for the TBoMS-based transmissions of the PDSCH with the SIB. The method 800 further includes sending 802 the PDSCH with the SIB with over the number of slots for the TBoMS-based transmissions.

[0077] In some embodiments of the method 800, sending the signaling indicating the TBoMS-based transmissions of the PDSCH with the SIB comprises sending a SIB1 comprising a parameter that indicates the number of slots for the TBoMS-based transmissions of the PDSCH with the SIB.

[0078] In some embodiments of the method 800, sending the signaling indicating the TBoMS-based transmissions of the PDSCH with the SIB comprises sending a SIB1 comprising a configuration for a TDRA table where each entry in the TDRA table is associated with a corresponding number of slots for the TBoMS-based transmissions.

[0079] In some embodiments of the method 800, sending the signaling indicating the TBoMS-based transmissions of the PDSCH with the SIB comprises sending an activation indication via a SIB1, a DCI, or a RNTI, wherein the number of slots is pre-defined.

[0080] In some embodiments of the method 800, sending the signaling from the network node indicating the TBoMS-based transmissions of the PDSCH with the SIB comprises sending a DCI indicating the number of slots. Some such embodiments further comprise sending a SIB1 comprising a configuration for multiple different numbers of slots for the TBoMS-based transmissions wherein the DCI comprises bits that indicate which of the multiple different numbers of slots is used for the PDSCH with the SIB. Some other such embodiments further comprise sending a SIB1 comprising a configuration for multiple different numbers of slots for the TBoMS-based transmissions wherein different RNTIs each correspond to a different number of slots for TBoMS and wherein the number of slots for the TBoMS-based transmissions of the PDSCH with the SIB is based on an RNTI used to scramble a CRC of the DCI. In some other such embodiments, a RNTI that is associated with TBoMS is used to scramble a CRC of the DCI to indicate that the number of slots is indicated in bits in the DCI.

[0081] In some embodiments of the method 800, the PDSCH is sent during a SI-window that is dedicated for PDSCH with TBoMS transmissions, wherein the SI-window is different than a legacy SI-window used to receive SIB without TBoMS.

[0082] FIG. 9 illustrates an example architecture of a wireless communication system 900, according to embodiments disclosed herein. The following description is provided for an example wireless communication system 900 that operates in conjunction with the LTE system standards and / or 5G or NR system standards as provided by 3GPP technical specifications.

[0083] As shown by FIG. 9, the wireless communication system 900 includes UE 902 and UE 904 (although any number of UEs may be used) . In this example, the UE 902 and the UE 904 are illustrated as smartphones (e.g., handheld touchscreen mobile computing devices connectable to one or more cellular networks) , but may also comprise any mobile or non-mobile computing device configured for wireless communication.

[0084] The UE 902 and UE 904 may be configured to communicatively couple with a RAN 906. In embodiments, the RAN 906 may be NG-RAN, E-UTRAN, etc. The UE 902 and UE 904 utilize connections (or channels) (shown as connection 908 and connection 910, respectively) with the RAN 906, each of which comprises a physical communications interface. The RAN 906 can include one or more base stations (such as base station 912 and base station 914) that enable the connection 908 and connection 910.

[0085] In this example, the connection 908 and connection 910 are air interfaces to enable such communicative coupling, and may be consistent with RAT (s) used by the RAN 906, such as, for example, an LTE and / or NR.

[0086] In some embodiments, the UE 902 and UE 904 may also directly exchange communication data via a sidelink interface 916. The UE 904 is shown to be configured to access an access point (shown as AP 918) via connection 920. By way of example, the connection 920 can comprise a local wireless connection, such as a connection consistent with any IEEE 802.11 protocol, wherein the AP 918 may comprise a  router. In this example, the AP 918 may be connected to another network (for example, the Internet) without going through a CN 924.

[0087] In embodiments, the UE 902 and UE 904 can be configured to communicate using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication signals with each other or with the base station 912 and / or the base station 914 over a multicarrier communication channel in accordance with various communication techniques, such as, but not limited to, an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) communication technique (e.g.,  for downlink communications) or a single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) communication technique (e.g., for uplink and ProSe or sidelink communications) , although the scope of the embodiments is not limited in this respect. The OFDM signals can comprise a plurality of orthogonal subcarriers.

[0088] In some embodiments, all or parts of the base station 912 or base station 914 may be implemented as one or more software entities running on server computers as part of a virtual network. In addition, or in other embodiments, the base station 912 or base station 914 may be configured to communicate with one another via interface 922. In embodiments where the wireless communication system 900 is an LTE system (e.g., when the CN 924 is an EPC) , the interface 922 may be an X2 interface. The X2 interface may be defined between two or more base stations (e.g., two or more eNBs and the like) that connect to an EPC, and / or between two eNBs connecting to the EPC. In embodiments where the wireless communication system 900 is an NR system (e.g., when CN 924 is a 5GC) , the interface 922 may be an Xn interface. The Xn interface is defined between two or more base stations (e.g., two or more gNBs and the like) that connect to 5GC, between a base station 912 (e.g., a gNB) connecting to 5GC and an eNB, and / or between two eNBs connecting to 5GC (e.g., CN 924) .

[0089] The RAN 906 is shown to be communicatively coupled to the CN 924. The CN 924 may comprise one or more network elements 926, which are configured to offer various data and telecommunications services to customers / subscribers (e.g., users of UE 902 and UE 904) who are connected to the CN 924 via the RAN 906. The components of the CN 924 may be implemented in one physical device or separate physical devices including components to read and execute instructions from a machine-readable or computer-readable medium (e.g., a non-transitory machine-readable storage medium) .

[0090] In embodiments, the CN 924 may be an EPC, and the RAN 906 may be connected with the CN 924 via an S1 interface 928. In embodiments, the S1 interface 928 may be split into two parts, an S1 user plane (S1-U) interface, which carries traffic data between the base station 912 or base station 914 and a serving gateway (S-GW) , and the S1-MME interface, which is a signaling interface between the base station 912 or base station 914 and mobility management entities (MMEs) .

[0091] In embodiments, the CN 924 may be a 5GC, and the RAN 906 may be connected with the CN 924 via an NG interface 928. In embodiments, the NG interface 928 may be split into two parts, an NG user plane (NG-U) interface, which carries traffic data between the base station 912 or base station 914 and a user plane function (UPF) , and the S1 control  plane (NG-C) interface, which is a signaling interface between the base station 912 or base station 914 and access and mobility management functions (AMFs) .

[0092] Generally, an application server 930 may be an element offering applications that use internet protocol (IP) bearer resources with the CN 924 (e.g., packet switched data services) . The application server 930 can also be configured to support one or more communication services (e.g., VoIP sessions, group communication sessions, etc. ) for the UE 902 and UE 904 via the CN 924. The application server 930 may communicate with the CN 924 through an IP communications interface 932.
