Abstract
Description
Method and device for assisting a receiver of broadcast content, and receiver of broadcast content
[0001] The invention relates to assistance for a receiver of broadcast content, in particular assistance for user interfaces of receivers of broadcast content, such as a virtual interface and / or a remote control of a receiver of broadcast content. State of the art
[0002] The receivers of broadcast content include televisions, particularly connected televisions, TV decoders…
[0003] Today, television is gradually being enriched with new services, such as video-on-demand (also known as VoD) and even subscription video-on-demand (also known as SVoD), which are becoming increasingly numerous: Netflix TM Amazon Prime TM Disney+ TM ParamountTM DAZN TM …; but also replay portals for live television channels; a multitude of specialized channels; entertainment services: music, radio, video games…; home automation services; etc. Each of these services offers broadcast content intended for broadcast content recipients.
[0004] Faced with this abundance of services offered by a single broadcast content receiver, its use is often limited to a small number of the services offered, or even to only a portion of the functionalities of a single service, or worse, excludes a segment of the population from using such additional services. Indeed, with the exponential increase in services offered by television, exploiting all the available services, or even fully utilizing a single service, is becoming increasingly difficult. This stems in particular from the fact that it is not uncommon to get lost in the navigation options of a broadcast content receiver among all the services it offers, or even all the functionalities of a single service, or even from the inability to replicate an interaction with the broadcast content receiver previously performed successfully.Furthermore, for those most removed from digital technology, this results in a form of digital illiteracy regarding television, limiting their use of their digital receiver of broadcast content to one or more traditional services, in particular access only to live television channels.
[0005] This is all the more significant given that the preferred method of interaction with television, particularly the broadcast content receiver, remains the remote control, with which navigation and / or typing are less convenient than with a keyboard and mouse. While voice interaction can solve typing problems, it should be noted that it is not available for all broadcast content receivers, nor for all the services offered by these receivers. Furthermore, this voice interaction essentially consists of a list of actions such as changing channels or searching for content. It therefore does not facilitate user discovery of all the services and their features offered by the broadcast content receiver.
[0006] One of the aims of the present invention is to remedy drawbacks / deficiencies of the prior art / to provide improvements over the prior art.
[0007] An object of the invention is a method for assisting a receiver of broadcast content comprising: - triggering a display of descriptive data relating to a user interface of the receiver of broadcast content on a screen connected to the receiver of broadcast content displaying content; and - generating descriptive data relating to a user interface being displayed by the screen.
[0008] Thus, the user is guided through the numerous services and their features offered by the content recipient, facilitating their discovery. Furthermore, this assistance enables the display of descriptive data for user interfaces or services provided without such data, particularly for updated or new user interfaces and / or new services.
[0009] Advantageously, the assistance process triggers the display of descriptive data in response to a request for assistance from the receiver of broadcast content.
[0010] Advantageously, the descriptive data relates to one of the following user interfaces: - a user interface included in the current content displayed by the screen; - a remote control of the receiver of broadcast content depending on the current content displayed.
[0011] Thus, guidance through the services and features offered is provided while taking into account the current user interface. For example, when displaying streaming video content, guidance through these services and features is provided by assisting the user in manipulating the only interface then available: the remote control and / or voice commands. In another example where a user interface is displayed, such as a menu of services and / or features, the assistance guides the user through the numerous interactive elements of the displayed user interface; and / or the manipulation of the remote control and / or the voice commands available to interact with this displayed user interface.
[0012] Advantageously, the generation of descriptive data is a function of a request for assistance in using user interfaces of the receiver of broadcast content.
[0013] Thus, the display time of the generated descriptive data is reduced since descriptive data is generated only for one or more user interface interaction elements to be used to respond to the use for which a support request was made.
[0014] Advantageously, the descriptive data includes an indicator of a user interface interaction element based on the request for user interface usage assistance.
[0015] Advantageously, at least one of the following data is in natural language: - descriptive data relating to a user interface of the receiver of broadcast content; - a request for assistance in using user interfaces of the receiver of broadcast content.
[0016] Advantageously, the display of descriptive data is additional to the display of content by the receiver of broadcast content.
[0017] Thus, the received broadcast content remains displayed during the display of descriptive data, facilitating the user's understanding of the use of the user interface (displayed and / or remote control) and allowing the user to continue viewing the displayed content while the descriptive data is being displayed by the assistance.
[0018] Advantageously, the additional display of descriptive data includes at least one of the following steps: - dividing the screen into at least two parts, one part for displaying the current content and the other part for displaying the descriptive data; - displaying the descriptive data as an overlay on the display of the current content.
[0019] Thus, in the case of assistance for using a physical user interface, such as a remote control, the screen can be divided into two parts: a first part displaying the received broadcast content and a second part displaying an illustration of at least one part of the physical user interface and the descriptive data of at least one physical interaction element of this physical user interface: push button, touch button, multi-position button, joystick…
[0020] In the case of assistance for using a displayed user interface, descriptive data can be displayed as an overlay on the received broadcast content.
[0021] Advantageously, the assistance process includes: - activating the assistance process prior to triggering the display of descriptive data relating to a user interface.
[0022] Thus, assistance is only implemented when the user feels the need for it.
[0023] Advantageously, the assistance process includes: - receiving a request to modify the status of assistance from among the following: + an activation request; + a deactivation request.
[0024] Advantageously, receiving the activation request triggers an activation of the assistance process prior to triggering the display of descriptive data relating to a user interface.
[0025] Advantageously, the activation request is at least one of the following signals: - a signal emitted by a remote control of the broadcast content receiver to the broadcast content receiver following an action by a user on a physical interaction element of the remote control; - a voice command from a user of the broadcast content receiver captured to the broadcast content receiver; - a voice command from a user of the broadcast content receiver captured by a remote control of the broadcast content receiver and emitted by the remote control to the broadcast content receiver.
[0026] Advantageously, according to one implementation of the invention, the various stages of the process according to the invention are implemented by a software or computer program, this software comprising software instructions intended to be executed by a data processor of a device assisting the receiver of broadcast content and being designed to control the execution of the various stages of this process.
[0027] The invention therefore also relates to a program comprising program code instructions for the execution of the steps of the assistance method according to the invention when said program is executed by a processor.
[0028] This program can use any programming language and be in the form of source code, object code, or intermediate code between source code and object code, such as in a partially compiled form or in any other desirable form.
[0029] Another object of the invention is a device for assisting a receiver of broadcast content comprising: - a trigger for displaying descriptive data relating to a user interface of the receiver of broadcast content on a screen connected to the receiver of broadcast content displaying content; and - a descriptive data generator capable of generating descriptive data relating to a user interface being displayed by the screen.
[0030] An object of the invention is also a broadcast content receiver capable of receiving a broadcast stream comprising at least one content, the broadcast content receiver being connected to a screen on which the broadcast content receiver is capable of displaying the received broadcast content, the broadcast content receiver comprising: - a broadcast content receiver assistance device capable of triggering a display of descriptive data relating to the user interface of the broadcast content receiver on the screen connected to the broadcast content receiver displaying content, and of generating descriptive data relating to a user interface being displayed by the screen.

[0041] Laillustre a simplified diagram of a method for assisting a receiver of broadcast content according to the invention.
[0042] The ASST assistance process for a CRCV broadcast content receiver includes: - triggering a DD_DSP_TRG display of descriptive data dd relating to a user interface iu of the CRCV broadcast content receiver on an SCR screen connected to the CRCV broadcast content receiver displaying content c; and - generating DD_GN of descriptive data dd relating to a user interface iuc being displayed by the SCR screen.
[0043] In particular, the ASST assistance process triggers the display of descriptive data DD_DSP in response to an assistance request from the receiver of broadcast content asst_dmd.
[0044] In particular, the descriptive data dd relates to a user interface iu among the following: - a user interface iuc included in the current content c displayed by the SCR screen; - a remote control rc of the broadcast content receiver CRCV depending on the current content c displayed.
[0045] In particular, the generation of descriptive data DD_GN is a function of a request for assistance asst_dmd for the use of user interfaces of the receiver of broadcast content.
[0046] In particular, the descriptive data dd includes an indicator data for a user interface interaction element ind(ei iu ) depending on the request for assistance in using the asst_dmd user interface: .
[0047] In particular, at least one data d among the following is in natural language: - descriptive data dd relating to a user interface iu of the broadcast content receiver CRCV; - a request for assistance in using user interfaces of the broadcast content receiver asst_dmd.
[0048] In particular, the display of descriptive data DD_DSP is additional to the display of C_DSP content by the receiver of broadcast content CRCV.
[0049] In particular, the additional display of descriptive data DD_DSP includes at least one of the following steps: - divide the screen SCR_DIV into at least two parts, one part for displaying the current content and the other part for displaying the descriptive data; - display the descriptive data dd in overlay OV_DSP relative to the display of the current content C_DSP.
[0050] In particular, the ASST assistance process includes: - activating ACT the ASST assistance process, IU_ASST prior to triggering the display of descriptive data dd relating to a user interface DSP_TRG.
[0051] In particular, the ASST assistance process includes:- receiving CMD_RCV a request to modify the status of the assistance smdf_rq from among the following:+ an activation request act_rq;+ a deactivation request dct_rq.
[0052] In particular, the CMD_RCV reception of the activation request act_rq triggers act_trg an ACT activation of the ASST, IU_ASST assistance process prior to the triggering of the DSP_TRG display of descriptive data dd relating to a user interface iu.
[0053] In particular, the activation request act_rq is at least one of the following signals: - an iar signal emitted by an RC remote control of the CRCV broadcast content receiver to the CRCV broadcast content receiver following an ia action of a user U on a physical interaction element of the RC remote control; - an iav voice command of a user U of the CRCV broadcast content receiver received to the CRCV broadcast content receiver; - an iav voice command of a user U of the CRCV broadcast content receiver received by an RC remote control of the CRCV broadcast content receiver and emitted iar by the RC remote control to the CRCV broadcast content receiver.
[0054] Specifically, initially, a user U discovering a new CRCV streaming content receiver connected to an internal or external SCR display, or a new or updated service offered by the CRCV streaming content receiver, chooses to be assisted in this discovery. To do so, they use the command `cmd assistance`, requesting a modification of the `smdf_rq` assistance status: by requesting the activation of the act_rq assistance: smdf_rq = act_rq.
[0055] Either the RC remote control of the CRCV streaming content receiver includes a physical interaction element for assistance, or the user interface displayed on the SCR screen by the CRCV streaming content receiver, specifically the home menu of services offered by the CRCV streaming content receiver, includes a virtual interaction element for assistance, notably an assistance button. When the ASST, IU_ASST assistance is not enabled, an action by the user U on the assistance button triggers a request to activate the assistance. .
[0056] Either the CRCV broadcast content receiver itself, or the CRCV broadcast content receiver's RC remote control, includes a sound sensor (not shown). The ASST assistance process involves: receiving a CMD_RCV command from the user, for example, a voice command (iav: cmd=iav) from user U captured by the sound sensor, or a radio wave command (iar: cmd=iar) (radio waves, infrared waves, etc.). The radio wave command may include a voice command (iav) from user U captured by the remote control's sound sensor. Initially, the voice command (iav) includes an activation request (act_rq).
[0057] Either the CMD_RCV command reception includes: - capturing CAPT (not shown) an iav voice command from user U.
[0058] In particular, the ASST assistance includes: - modifying SMDF the status of the ASST assistance according to the received status modification request smdf_rq, in this case activating ACT the ASST assistance upon receipt CMD_RCV of a simple status modification request smdf_rq of an activation request smdf_rq = act_rq,
[0059] In particular, when the smdf_rq modification request is a vm_rq modification voice command included in an iav voice command from the user, then the SMDF assistance status modification involves: - converting the received iav voice command into an smdf_rq command signal initially containing an act_rq activation request or a simple smdf_rq status modification request.
[0060] In particular, when the modification request smdf_rq is a modification wave command rm_rq included in an iar wave command from an RC remote control, then the SMDF assistance status modification involves: - converting the received iar wave command into an smdf_rq command signal initially containing an act_rq activation request or a simple smdf_rq status modification request.
[0061] In particular, the SMDF assistance status modification involves: - determining MDF? the modified status required by the smdf_rq assistance status modification command.
[0062] In particular, the determination of the modified status MDF? determines the modified status stm based on the status change request smdf_rq (possibly smdf_rq=act_rq initially) and / or the current status of the assistance st (assistance status deactivated st=dct initially). Indeed, since the assistance ASST has two possible statuses: activated or deactivated, if the current status of the assistance st is known from the determination of the modified status MDF?, then receiving a simple status change request smdf_rq that does not specify the new required status is sufficient to determine that this simple status change request smdf_rq is a request for a second status st2, constituting the modified status stm, which is different from a first status st1 constituted by the current status stc.
[0063] In this case, in this first step, either the MDF determination determines that the modification request smdf_rq includes an activation request act_rq; or, the current status of the assistance is disabled, the modified status determination MDF evaluates that the modification request smdf_rq corresponds to a request of a different status than the current status, in this case an activation request act_rq.
[0064] In particular, determining the modified MDF status? smdf_trg command: - apply the modified status to the STMX helper.
[0065] Initially, determining the modified MDF status? command smdf_trg = act_trg: - apply the activated ACT status to the ASST assistance, IU_ASST.
[0066] The application of the activated ACT status to the ASST, IU_ASST assistance is a prerequisite for the subsequent triggering of the display of the DSPT_TRG descriptive data, or at least one step of the ASST, IU_ASST assistance process that triggers the display of the DSPT_TRG descriptive data. Therefore, the descriptive data can only be displayed when the ASST assistance is activated.
[0067] The ASST assistance includes in this second step: - assisting IU_ASST with an interaction with a user interface (UI) of the receiver of broadcast content (CRCV).
[0068] The IU user interface is notably an RC remote control, a virtual user interface iuc included in a c content received by the CRCV broadcast content receiver.
[0069] Optionally, the ASST assistance for the broadcast content receiver consists of user interface assistance for the broadcast content receiver (IU_ASST). Alternatively, the ASST assistance for the broadcast content receiver, including user interface assistance for the broadcast content receiver (IU_ASST), also includes: assisting with CS_ASST searches and / or CA_ASST access to broadcast content suitable for reception by the broadcast content receiver (CRCV).
[0070] Note that the IU_ASST interaction assistance allows assistance with an interaction with one or more virtual user interfaces, including the following: - a current virtual user interface corresponding to the displayed virtual user interface; - one or more virtual user interfaces associated with a service offered by the receiver of broadcast content; - one or more virtual user interfaces associated with a feature of a service of the receiver of broadcast content; - etc.
[0071] In particular, the ASST assistance includes, possibly in this second stage triggered by the ACT activation: - generating the descriptive data DD_GN.
[0072] Specifically, the IU_ASST interaction assistance includes the generation of descriptive data DD_GN. The generation of descriptive data DD_GN provides the generated descriptive data dd.
[0073] In one particular embodiment, the generated descriptive data dd is a function of a currently used user interface iu, specifically the remote control being used rc: iu=rc and / or a displayed virtual user interface, also called the current virtual user interface iuc: iu=iuc. The generation of descriptive data DD_GN provides descriptive data for a user interface dd iu .
[0074] Thus, the descriptive data correspond to one or more interaction elements ei,{ei i} i of the user interface currently in use, allowing the user to understand (describe) the result of an interaction with a given interaction element. i and / or a mode of interaction with an interaction element ei i .
[0075] In a particular embodiment, the descriptive data generated dd are a function of several user interfaces iu, possibly including a remote control rc of the broadcast content receiver CRCV and / or a current user interface iuc.
[0076] In a particular embodiment, possibly combined with one of the previously described embodiments, the generated descriptive data dd is a function of a help request asst_dmd from user U: dd=f(asst_dmd). Specifically, when the help request asst_dmd concerns an interaction element ei of the current user interface iuc, a feature of a service of the broadcast content receiver CRCV…, the DD_GN generation calculates descriptive data dd only for the interaction element ei, or for the interaction elements {ei}. j} j enabling the execution of the functionality for which assistance is requested.
[0077] In particular, ASST assistance includes: - receiving CMD_RCV a cmd command containing the asst_dmd assistance request from user U.
[0078] In particular, the ASST assistance, or even the IU_ASST user interface assistance, includes: triggering the DSP_TRG display of descriptive data dd from a user interface iu of the CRCV broadcast content receiver. The DSP_TRG display trigger commands dsp_trg(dd) to display the descriptive data DD_DSP. The DSP_TRG display trigger is implemented only when the ASST assistance, IU_ASST, has been activated by the ACT assistance activation.
[0079] In particular, the descriptive data dd whose display is triggered by DSP_TRG consists of descriptive data previously stored (in a database memory of a DASST assistance device and / or the CRCV broadcast content receiver) and / or descriptive data provided by the generation of descriptive data DD_GN. The stored descriptive data is notably provided upon request dd_rq of the DSP_TRG display trigger.
[0080] In particular, ASST assistance, or even IU_ASST user interface assistance, includes: - displaying descriptive data DD_DSP.
[0081] The display of descriptive data DD_DSP is controlled by dsp_trg(dd) by the display trigger DSP_TRG.
[0082] In particular, ASST assistance, or even IU_ASST user interface assistance, includes: - displaying descriptive data dd as an overlay OV_DSP on a broadcast content displayed.
[0083] The display of descriptive data in OV_DSP overlay is controlled by dsp_trg(dd) by the display trigger DSP_TRG.
[0084] In particular, the OV_DSP overprint display of descriptive data dd commands the SCR screen to reproduce rpr the descriptive data dd in an overprint mode md=ov: rpr(dd,md=ov).
[0085] In particular, ASST assistance, or even IU_ASST user interface assistance, includes: - dividing the SCR screen into DIV, and - displaying the descriptive data dd into a second part determined z2 of the SCR screen indicated by the DIV division.
[0086] The division DIV and the display of descriptive data in a second determined part of the Z_DSP screen are controlled dsp_trg(dd) by the display trigger DSP_TRG.
[0087] In particular, the display in a second determined part of the ZDSP screen of the descriptive data dd commands the SCR screen to reproduce rpr the descriptive data dd in the second determined part z2: rpr(dd,z2).
[0088] In particular, the DIV division provides the CDPS broadcast content display with a predetermined first part of the screen z1. The CDPS broadcast content display then commands the SCR screen to reproduce rpr the broadcast content c in the first determined part z1:rpr(c,z1).
[0089] In particular, the display of descriptive data DD_DSP includes one or more of the following steps: - display the descriptive data dd as an overlay OV_DSP on a broadcast content displayed;
[0090] - divide DIV the SCR screen, and display ZDSP the descriptive data dd in a second determined part z2 of the screen.
[0091] In particular, the ASST assistance process is implemented by the CRCV broadcast content receiver.
[0092] In a particular embodiment, activation of the ASST assistance, IU_ASST triggers the display of an avatar either superimposed on the displayed received broadcast content, or in a separate part of the SCR screen displaying the displayed received broadcast content.
[0093] In particular, the displayed avatar speaks descriptive data in a chatbot-like manner, notably in response to the asst_dmd support request. In a specific embodiment, the avatar responds to requests related to the user interface(s) associated with the displayed content, including the displayed virtual user interface and / or the RC remote control. In a specific embodiment, the avatar enters demonstration mode to speak successive descriptive data related to steps to be performed based on the asst_dmd support request. This successive descriptive data relates to steps to be performed on several successive user interface(s).
[0094] An embodiment of the ASST assistance method for the CRCV broadcast content receiver, or even of the IU_ASST user interface assistance method for the broadcast content receiver, is a program comprising program code instructions for executing the steps of the assistance method according to the invention when said program is executed by a processor.
[0095] Laillustre a simplified diagram of a device to assist a receiver of broadcast content according to the invention.
[0096] In a particular embodiment, the assistance device 4, 34 of a broadcast content receiver 3 includes:- a trigger 432 for displaying descriptive data dd relating to a user interface iu of the broadcast content receiver 3 on a screen 5,35 connected to the broadcast content receiver 3 displaying content c.
[0097] In this particular embodiment, the assistance device 4, 34 of a receiver of broadcast content 3 includes, in particular: - a descriptive data generator 431 capable of generating descriptive data dd relating to a user interface iu being displayed by the screen.
[0098] In another particular embodiment, the assistance device 4, 34 of a broadcast content receiver 3 includes: - a trigger 432 for displaying descriptive data dd relating to a user interface iu of the broadcast content receiver 3 on a screen 5, 35 connected to the broadcast content receiver 3 displaying content c; and - a descriptive data generator 431 capable of generating descriptive data dd relating to a user interface iu being displayed by the screen.
[0099] Regardless of the implementation method of the assistance device 4, 34:
[0100] A receiver of broadcast content 3 receives broadcast content c transmitted via a broadcast network 2.
[0101] In particular, the broadcast content receiver 3 includes an elementary receiver 32 capable of receiving signals broadcast via the broadcast network 2, the broadcast signals comprising broadcast content c.
[0102] In particular, the broadcast content receiver 3 includes a controller 31 capable of receiving a command cmd, such as a voice command iav from a user U, or a radio wave command iar from a remote control 1 operated ia by a user U or from a remote control 1 controlled by voice iav by the user U… The controller 31 is notably capable of controlling nvc the elementary receiver 32. In particular, the controller 31 is capable of controlling the reception of a given frequency fc corresponding to a broadcast content channel by the elementary receiver 32, or the selection of an interaction element ei in a user interface iu included in broadcast content c received by the elementary receiver 32.
[0103] In particular, the receiver of broadcast content 3 includes a display device 33, such as a video card, capable of providing rpr(ca) to a screen 5, 35 a content ca to be displayed: ca=c rpr(ca) = rpr(c). In particular, the elementary receiver 32 provides the display device 33 with the received broadcast content c as content to be displayed ca: ca = c. Optionally, when the received broadcast content c includes a user interface iu, the elementary receiver 32 provides the display device 33 with content to be displayed ca including the user interface iu: .
[0104] In a particular embodiment, the broadcast content receiver 3 is connected to the screen 5 external to the broadcast content receiver 3. The broadcast content receiver 3 is then in particular a TV decoder, such as a DTT tuner, a TV decoder for content broadcast via a wired telecommunications network (fibre, ADSL…), etc.
[0105] In a particular embodiment, the broadcast content receiver 3 includes the screen 35. The broadcast content receiver 3 is then a television, in particular a terrestrial television and / or a connected television (via a wired or mobile telecommunications network).
[0106] Optionally, a particular embodiment (not illustrated) combines the two above embodiments, i.e., the use of two content receivers for a single screen 5, 35 1 3 2 : on the one hand, a 3D television 1 terrestrial or connected TV including a 35-inch screen and, on the other hand, a 3-inch TV decoder 2 also connected to the 35-inch TV screen.
[0107] In one particular embodiment, the streaming content receiver 3 is connected to an assistance device consisting of an external assistance device 4, such as is illustrated in the figure. In an alternative embodiment, the streaming content receiver 3 includes an assistance device consisting of an internal assistance device 34, such as is illustrated in the figure.
[0108] In particular, the assistance device 4, 34 includes a receiver 41 capable of receiving a cmd command from the user U. Optionally, the controller 31 transmits to the assistance device 4, 34, in particular to the receiver 41, a cmd command from the user U and intended for the assistance device 4, 34.
[0109] In particular, the support device 4, 34 includes a user interface support device 43 of the broadcast content receiver 3. In particular, the user interface support device 43 of the broadcast content receiver 3 is capable of triggering dsp_trg(dd) a display of descriptive data dd relating to a user interface iu of the broadcast content receiver 3 on a screen 5,35 connected to the broadcast content receiver 3 displaying content c.
[0110] In particular, the assistance device 4, 34 includes a status modifier 42, such as an activator 422 A , capable of being controlled by a cmd=smdf command from user U, in particular a cmd command received by receiver 41. The status modifier 42 is, in particular, capable of changing the status of the assistance device 4, 34 and / or a user interface assistance device 43 according to the cmd=smdf command.
[0111] In particular, when the status modifier 42 activates the assistance device 4, 34 and / or a user interface assistance device 43, the assistance device 4, 34 and / or a user interface assistance device 43 triggers the display of descriptive data dd on the screen 5, 35.
[0112] In particular, when the status modifier 42 disables dct the assistance device 4, 34 and / or a user interface assistance device 43, the assistance device 4, 34 and / or a user interface assistance device 43 is put on standby for an activation command from user U and no longer triggers the display of descriptive data dd on the screen 5, 35 which then displays only the broadcast content c received.
[0113] In particular, the user interface support device 43 consists of (particular embodiment not shown) or includes the trigger 432 for displaying descriptive data dd relating to a user interface iu of the broadcast content receiver 3 on a screen 5.35 connected to the broadcast content receiver 3 displaying content c.
[0114] In particular, the 431 descriptive data generator dd relating to a user interface iu of the broadcast content receiver 3 on a 5.35 screen connected to the broadcast content receiver 3 displaying content c.
[0115] In a particular embodiment, the generator 431 is capable of continuously generating descriptive data corresponding to the user interface iu relating to the displayed broadcast content c, also called the current broadcast content. Either, the generator 431 generates descriptive data only when the assistive device 4, 34 and / or the user interface assistive device 43 is active; or the generator 431 continues to generate descriptive data dd even as soon as the assistive device 4, 34 and / or the user interface assistive device 43 is deactivated and as long as the assistive device 4, 34 and / or the user interface assistive device 43 is inactive (waiting for the activation of the assistive device 4, 34 and / or the user interface assistive device 43).
[0116] In an alternative embodiment, the descriptive data generator 431 is capable of generating descriptive data dd in response to a cmd command from user U, in particular a request for assistance asst_dmd: cmd=asst_dmd. Optionally, the cmd command from user U is provided by the receiver 41 to the generator 431. Furthermore, the generator 431 is specifically capable of providing the generated descriptive data dd for display, for example, to the display trigger 432.
[0117] In particular, the assistance device 4, 34 and / or the user interface assistance device 43 includes a descriptive data display device 433, including a graphics card, a video card, etc. The descriptive data display device 433 is capable of transmitting to the screen 5, 35 the descriptive data to be reproduced rpr(dd).
[0118] In particular, initially, a user U discovering a new streaming content receiver 3 connected to an internal screen 35 or an external screen 5 connected to the streaming content receiver 3, or a new or updated service offered by the streaming content receiver 3, chooses to be assisted in this discovery. To do this, they command the assistance command, in this case the assistance device 4, 34, requesting a modification of the assistance status smdf_rq: , here by requesting the activation of the act_rq assistance: smdf_rq = act_rq.
[0119] In particular, the assistance device 4,34 includes:- a status modifier 42 capable of activating an assistance device 4, 34, 43 prior to the triggering of the display of descriptive data dsp_trg(dd) relating to a user interface iu, in particular by the trigger 432.
[0120] Specifically, status modifier 42 consists of or includes an activator 422 A of an assistance device 4, 34, 43.
[0121] In particular, the assistance device 4.34 includes: - a receiver 41 capable of receiving a request to change the status of the assistance smdf_rq from among the following: + an activation request act_rq; + a deactivation request dct_rq.
[0122] In particular, the receiver 41 of the activation request act_rq is capable of triggering the activation activator 422 act_trg A of the assistance device 4, 34, 43 prior to the triggering of display dsp_trg(dd) of descriptive data dd relating to a user interface iu, in particular by trigger 432.
[0123] In particular, the activation request act_rq is at least one of the following signals: - an iar signal emitted by a remote control 1 of the broadcast content receiver 3 to the broadcast content receiver 3 following an action ia of a user U on a physical interaction element of the remote control 1; - a voice command iav of a user U of the broadcast content receiver 3 received to the broadcast content receiver 3; - a voice command iav of a user U of the broadcast content receiver 3 received by a remote control 1 of the broadcast content receiver 3 and emitted iar by the remote control 1 to the broadcast content receiver 3.
[0124] Either the remote control 1 of the streaming content receiver 3 includes a physical interaction element for assistance (not shown), or the user interface displayed on the screen 5, 35 by the streaming content receiver 3, in particular the home menu of the services offered by the streaming content receiver 3, includes a virtual interaction element for assistance, consisting in particular of an assistance button. When the assistance device 4, 34, 43 is not activated, an action ia by the user U on the assistance button results in a request to activate the assistance. .
[0125] Either the broadcast content receiver 3 itself, or the remote control 1 of the broadcast content receiver 3 includes a sound sensor 30, 310. The assistance device 4, 34 includes: - a command receiver 41 from the user, for example, respectively a voice command iav: cmd=iav from the user U captured by the sound sensor 30 or a command by waves iar: cmd=iar (radio waves, infrared waves…), the command by waves iar possibly including a voice command iav from the user U captured by the sound sensor 10 (not shown) of the remote control 1. In this first stage, the voice command iav includes an activation request act_rq.
[0126] Either the command receiver 31 includes:- the voice command sensor 310 (not shown) capable of receiving an iav voice command from the user U.
[0127] In general, the status modifier 42 of an assistance device 4, 34, 43 is capable of modifying the status of the assistance device 4, 34, 43 according to the status change request received smdf_rq, in this case to activate the assistance device 4, 34, 43 upon receipt of a simple status change request smdf_rq consisting of an activation request smdf_rq = act_rq,
[0128] In particular, when the modification request smdf_rq is a voice command modification vm_rq included within a voice command cmd=iav from the user, then the assistance status modifier 42 is capable of converting the received voice command iav into an smdf_rq command signal initially containing an activation request act_rq or a simple status modification request smdf_rq. Specifically, the assistance status modifier 42 includes a 420v converter (not shown) from the voice command iav to the status modifier command smdf_rq.
[0129] In particular, when the modification request smdf_rq is a modification wave command rm_rq included in a wave command cmd=iar from a remote control 1, then the status modifier 42 of the assistance 42 is capable of converting the received wave command iar into a command signal smdf_rq initially containing an activation request act_rq or a simple status modification request smdf_rq. Specifically, the status modifier of the assistance 42 includes a converter 420o (not shown) of the wave command iar into the status modifier command smdf_rq.
[0130] In particular, the support status modifier 42 is capable of determining the modified status required by the support status modification command smdf_rq. Specifically, the support status modifier 42 includes a parser 421 (not shown) capable of determining the required modified status.
[0131] In particular, the analyzer 421 is capable of determining the modified status stm based on the status change request smdf_rq (initially smdf_rq=act_rq) and / or the current assistance status st (initially, the assistance status st=dct is disabled). Indeed, since the assistance device 4, 34, 43 has two possible statuses: activated or deactivated, if the current assistance status st is known to the analyzer 421, then the receiver 41 of a simple status change request smdf_rq, which does not specify the new required status, is sufficient for the analyzer 421 to determine that this simple status change request smdf_rq corresponds to a request for a second status st2, constituting the modified status stm, which is different from a first status st1, constituted by the current status stc.
[0132] In this case, in this first step, either the analyzer 421 determines that the modification request smdf_rq includes an activation request act_rq; or, the current status of the assistance is disabled, the analyzer 421 then evaluates that the modification request of status smdf_rq corresponds to a request of a different status than the current status, in this case an activation request act_rq.
[0133] In particular, analyzer 421 is capable of commanding smdf_trg to apply the modified status to the assistance device 4, 34, 43. Specifically, an executor 422 is capable of applying the status change commanded by analyzer 421. Initially, analyzer 421 is capable of commanding smdf_trg = act_trg to apply the activated status to the assistance device 4, 34, 43. Specifically, activator 422 A is capable of applying the activated status commanded by analyzer 421.
[0134] Activator 422 Aapplies the activated status to the assistance device 4, 34, 43 prior to the implementation, in a given context, of the triggering of the display of descriptive data by trigger 432 or of a function of at least one of the devices of the assistance device 4, 34, 43, including the triggering of the display of descriptive data. Thus, the descriptive data can only be displayed when the assistance device 4, 34, 43 is active.
[0135] In particular, the user interface assistance device 43 is implemented in this second stage during which the status of the assistance device 4, 34, 43 is activated. The user interface iu is notably a remote control 1, a virtual user interface iuc included in content c received by the receiver of broadcast content 3.
[0136] Optionally, the support device 4, 34 of the broadcast content receiver 3 consists of a user interface support device 43 of the broadcast content receiver 3. Alternatively, the support device 4, 34 of the broadcast content receiver 3 comprising a user interface support device 43 of the broadcast content receiver 3 further comprises: - a search and / or access support device 36 for broadcast content suitable for reception by the broadcast content receiver 3.
[0137] Note that the interaction assistance device 43, also called the user interface assistance device, is capable of assisting an interaction with one or more of the virtual user interfaces, in particular the following one or more of the virtual user interfaces:- a current virtual user interface iuc corresponding to the virtual user interface displayed;- one or more virtual user interfaces iu associated with a service offered by the receiver of broadcast content 3;- one or more virtual user interfaces iu associated with a functionality of a service of the receiver of broadcast content 3;- etc.
[0138] In particular, the assistance device 4, 34 includes:- the generator 431 of descriptive data dd relating to a user interface iuc being displayed by the screen 5, 35.
[0139] Specifically, the user interface assistance device 43 includes the descriptive data generator 431. The descriptive data generator 431 is capable of providing the generated descriptive data, including: - descriptive data iu of a user interface such as a user interface in use iu, including the remote control being used rc: iu=rc and / or a virtual user interface being displayed, also called the current virtual user interface iuc: iu=iuc ;- descriptive data generated dd of several user interfaces iu including possibly a remote control rc of the broadcast content receiver CRCV and / or a current user interface iuc.
[0140] Optionally, generator 431 is implemented in this second stage triggered by activator 422 A and / or status modifier 42.
[0141] In particular, the descriptive data dd relate to a user interface iu among the following: - a user interface iuc included in the current content c displayed by the screen 5, 35; - a remote control 1 of the receiver of broadcast content 3 according to the current content c displayed.
[0142] In particular, the descriptive data generator 431 is capable of generating descriptive data based on a help request asst_dmd for using user interfaces of the streaming content receiver 3. Specifically, when the help request asst_dmd concerns an interaction element ei of the current user interface iuc, a feature of a streaming content receiver service CRCV…, the generator 431 is capable of calculating descriptive data dd only for the interaction element ei, or for interaction elements {ei j} jenabling the execution of the functionality for which assistance is requested.
[0143] In particular, the assistance device 4, 34 is capable of receiving a cmd command containing the asst_dmd assistance request from user U. In particular, the user U command receiver 41 is capable of receiving a cmd command containing the asst_dmd assistance request from user U.
[0144] In particular, the assistive device 4, 34, or even the user interface assistive device 43, is capable of triggering the display of descriptive data dd of a user interface iu of the streamed content receiver 3. Specifically, trigger 432 is capable of triggering the display of descriptive data dd of a user interface iu of the streamed content receiver 3. The display trigger 432 is capable, for example, of controlling dsp_trg(dd) a display device 433 of the descriptive data. The display trigger 432 is implemented only when the assistive device 4, 34, or 43 is active, in particular when it has been activated act by the assistive status modifier 42 or the activator 422. A assistance.
[0145] In particular, the descriptive data dd whose display is triggered by the trigger 432 are descriptive data previously stored (in a memory 46, 436 of an assistance device 4, 34, 43, and / or of the receiver of broadcast content 3) and / or descriptive data provided by the descriptive data generator 431. The stored descriptive data are notably provided on request dd_rq of the display trigger 432.
[0146] In particular, the assistance device 4, 34, 43 triggers the descriptive data display device 433 in response to a request for assistance from the receiver of broadcast content asst_dmd.
[0147] In particular, the assistance device 4, 34, or even the user interface assistance device 43, is capable of displaying descriptive data dd on a screen 5, 35. In particular, the assistance device 4, 34, or even the user interface assistance device 43, includes: - a descriptive data display device 433 capable of displaying descriptive data dd on a screen 5, 35.
[0148] The descriptive data display device 433 is controlled dsp_trg(dd) by the display trigger 432.
[0149] In particular, the descriptive data display device 4, 34 is additional to a content display device 33 of the broadcast content receiver 3.
[0150] In particular, the assistance device 4, 34, or even the user interface assistance device 43, includes: - a display device 4331 of descriptive data dd superimposed OV_DSP on a broadcast content displayed c.
[0151] The display device 4331 for descriptive data in overlay is controlled dsp_trg(dd) by the display trigger 432. In particular, the display device in overlay 4331 is capable of displaying the descriptive data dd in overlay of the content whose display is controlled by a display device for the current content 33 of the receiver of broadcast content 3.
[0152] In particular, the display device 4331 superimposing descriptive data dd commands the screen 5, 35 to reproduce rpr the descriptive data dd in an overprint mode md=ov : rpr(dd,md=ov).
[0153] In particular, the assistance device 4, 34, or even the user interface assistance device 43, includes: - a divider 4332 capable of dividing the screen 5, 35, and - a display 4333 of the descriptive data dd in a determined part of the screen 5, 35 indicated by the divider 4332.
[0154] The screen divider 4332 and the display device 4333 for the descriptive data in a specific portion of the screen 5, 35 are controlled by the display trigger 432 using the `dsp_trg(dd)` function. Specifically, the screen divider 4332 is capable of dividing the screen 5, 35 into at least two parts: a first part z1 for displaying the current content c and a second part z2 for displaying the descriptive data dd. The specific portion of the screen 5, 35 in which the display 4333 shows the descriptive data is then constituted by the second part z2 provided by the divider 4332.
[0155] In particular, the display device 4333 in a determined part z2 of the screen 5, 35 of the descriptive data dd is able to control on the screen 5, 35 the reproduction rpr of the descriptive data dd in the determined part z2: rpr(dd,z2).

[0189] Following an activation command for the assistance process, the assistance process is now in an active status: st=act.
[0190] The screen 5, 35 displays, in addition to the content 6 as described in the, descriptive data 7 of the remote control 1. In this case, the screen 5, 35 is divided into two parts: a first part z1 and a second part z2, the first part z1 of the screen 5, 35 displays the content 6, the second part z2 of the screen 5, 35 displays the descriptive data 7.
[0191] In particular, the descriptive data 7 displayed includes descriptive data 70, 71, 72, 73… relating to various elements of physical interaction of the remote control 1.
[0192] Laillustre a second use case of the method of assisting a receiver of broadcast content by proposing a demonstration of interactions with a receiver of broadcast content according to the invention.
[0193] When the request for assistance corresponds to an interaction with a virtual user interface not displayed on the screen at the time of the request for assistance, the assistance process triggers the display of a demonstration consisting of the various steps of the user on one or more virtual and / or physical interfaces to perform the desired interaction indicated in the request for assistance.
[0194] For example :
[0195] At an initial time t0, upon request for assistance from user U (asst_dmd), screen 5, 35 displays, in addition to content 6, a virtual user interface corresponding to a home menu 6 A , for example, as described in the, descriptive data 7 corresponding to this home menu 6 Adepending on the assistance request. In particular, the descriptive data displayed includes one or more of the following: - descriptive data 711 relating to an interaction element 611 depending on the assistance request; - an indicator data 711 ind of an interaction element 611 of the user interface 6 A depending on the request for assistance.
[0196] These initial descriptive data 711, 711 ind indicates and explains to the user how to access the next step from the home menu to perform the interaction requested in the support request, i.e. guides the user in performing the interaction requested in the support request.
[0197] Initially, following t1, screen 5, 35 displays, in addition to content 6, a virtual user interface corresponding to an intermediate menu, for example, a menu for a service 6 S, descriptive data 7 corresponding to this intermediate menu 6 S depending on the assistance request. In particular, the descriptive data displayed 7 includes one or more of the following: - descriptive data 703 relating to an interaction element 603 depending on the assistance request; - an indicator data 703 ind of an interaction element 603 of the user interface 6 S depending on the request for assistance.
[0198] These initial descriptive data 703, 703 ind indicates and explains to the user how to access the next step from the intermediate menu to perform the interaction requested in the support request, i.e. guides the user in performing the interaction requested in the support request.
[0199] Thus, the screen displays the successive steps to be taken by the user, up to the last time tm, where the screen 5, 35 displays in addition to content 6 possibly including the actual content 6c corresponding to the service or a service functionality and a virtual user interface 6iu, descriptive data 7 corresponds to a final menu, in particular a menu of features relating to the displayed content.
[0200] In particular, the displayed descriptive data 7 includes one or more of the following: - descriptive data 704 relating to an interaction element 604 depending on the assistance request; - an indicator data 704 ind of an interaction element 604 of the user interface 6iu depending on the support request.
[0201] These latest descriptive data 704, 704 ind indicates and explains to the user how to finalize the interaction requested in the support request.
[0202] Thus, the invention provides a virtual assistant that can be activated by voice (in particular by invoking its name) and / or by means of a remote control button. Interaction with the virtual assistant will take place primarily in natural language: commands from the user and / or descriptive data displayed by the virtual assistant.
[0203] The virtual assistant according to the invention will notably be superimposed on the current screen and may, where appropriate, designate and show elements of a menu of a virtual user interface to satisfy the request for assistance.
[0204] Optionally, when the virtual assistant according to the invention is activated, the television screen, or even the screen connected to a TV decoder, switches to demonstration mode. The virtual assistant according to the invention uses the screen as a demonstration screen for the user journey (either only on the current page or by navigating through several pages – see below). The virtual assistant performs the interactions to be carried out by the user and verbalizes (explains) what it is doing.
[0205] At the end of its activation, the virtual assistant according to the invention disappears, and the TV screen returns to the state it was in when it was activated. The virtual assistant relinquishes control. In particular, the virtual assistant can be interrupted at any time.
[0206] The virtual assistant according to the invention appears at the user's command and explains, based on the assistance request, what can be done and how using the user interfaces (menus, remote control, etc.) of their streaming content receiver. The scope of this virtual assistant according to the invention is the various user interfaces of streaming content receivers. It is essentially an interaction assistant for the streaming content receiver or a navigation assistant.
[0207] The invention will be primarily applicable to TV services on television screens, particularly internet TV, IPTV, or OTT TV, which offers a wide variety of interactions and numerous menus and screens. Such a virtual assistant according to the invention could also prove useful for mobile TV.
[0208] The invention also relates to a storage medium. The information storage medium can be any entity or device capable of storing the program. For example, the medium can include a storage means, such as a ROM, for example a CD-ROM or a microelectronic circuit ROM, or a magnetic recording means, for example a floppy disk or a hard disk drive.
