[0003] The present invention relates to self-adhesive fabric patch and more particularly to a self-adhesive fabric patch according to preamble of claim 1.
[0004] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0005] In the prior art self-adhesive patches are used to repair clothes, bags or the like textile objects. The self-adhesive patches usually comprise a patch substrate and an adhesive layer provided to bottom surface of the patch substrate. The adhesive substrate is protected with a removable liner prior to use of the patch. When the patch is applied to a desired location on the surface of the object, the liner is first removed and then the patch is placed on the desired location on the object. The adhesive layer bonds with the surface of the object adhering the patch to the desired location.
[0006] Placing and adhering the prior art patch to the desired location is difficult. When the adhesive layer makes contact with the surface of the object, it is difficult to move that patch anymore. Removing the patch from the surface of the object and placing the patch again on the surface to a better location deteriorates the bond between the patch and the surface of the object. This due to the fact that some adhesive remains in the surface of the object when it is removed and that contaminants such as fabric fibres or dust gest stuck on adhesive layer such that the boding properties of the adhesive layer are deteriorated.
[0007] BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0008] An object of the present invention is to provide a self-adhesive fabric patch so as to solve or at least alleviate the prior art disadvantages.
[0009] The objects of the invention are achieved by a self-adhesive fabric patch which is characterized by what is stated in the independent claim 1.
[0010] The preferred embodiments of the invention are disclosed in the dependent claims.
[0011] The invention is based on the idea of providing self-adhesive fabric patch for repairing textile damage. Accordingly, the present invention provides a self-adhesive repair patch. The self-adhesive fabric patch comprises a fabric substrate having a top surface and a bottom surface, an adhesive layer provided on the bottom surface of the fabric substrate, and a release liner provided on the adhesive layer to protect the adhesive layer prior use of the self-adhesive fabric patch, the adhesive layer being arranged between the fabric substrate and the release liner. The release liner has a liner flexural stiffness and the fabric substrate has a substrate flexural stiffness, the liner flexural stiffness is greater than the substrate flexural stiffness such that the release liner is arranged to support the fabric substrate. The release liner comprises a first liner surface arranged to face towards the adhesive layer and a second liner surface arranged to face away from the adhesive layer, the release liner being provided with a cut having a depth from the second liner surface towards the fabric substrate.
[0012] The release liner with the greater flexural stiffness prevents or at least decreases folding and bending of the fabric substrate and the self-adhesive fabric patch prior to use when the release liner is adhered to the adhesive layer. The decreased folding bending prevents or decreases relative movement of the release liner and the fabric substrate, or the release liner and the adhesive layer, prior to and when the release liner is adhered to the adhesive layer. The prevented or decreased relative movement prevents detaching of the release liner from the adhesive layer and from the fabric substrate prior use of the self-adhesive patch.

This decreases unintentional bending and folding of the fabric substrate during the placing and prevents wrinkles to the fabric substrate and to the patch adhered to the surface of the object.

A fabric patch (10) according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that:- the adhesive layer (40) is provided as double-sided tape comprising a first adhesive layer (44) bonded to the fabric substrate (20) and a second adhesivelayer (42) bonded to the release liner (30); or- the adhesive layer (40) is provided as a single-layer adhesive; or- the adhesive layer (40) is provided as a transfer tape.
5. A fabric patch (10) according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that:- the adhesive layer (40) comprises pressure-sensitive adhesive material; or- the second adhesive layer (44) comprises pressure-sensitive adhesive material.
6. A fabric patch (10) according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the release liner (30) has a thickness:- at least 0,06 mm; or- at least 0,1 mm.
7. A fabric patch (10) according to any one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the release liner (30) comprises:- a base layer (32); or- a base layer (32) and a coating layer (34), the coating layer (34) being arranged towards the adhesive layer (40).
8. A fabric patch (10) according to any one of claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the adhesive layer (40) has an adhesive flexural stiffness, and that the liner flexural stiffness of the release liner (30) is greater than combined flexural stiffness of the substrate flexural stiffness of the fabric substrate (20) and the adhesive flexural stiffness of the adhesive layer (40).
9. A fabric patch (10) according to any one of claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the adhesive layer (40) is arranged to cover the bottom surface (24) of the fabric substrate (20) and the release liner (30) is arranged to cover the adhesive layer (40).

A fabric patch (10) according to any one of claims 1 to claim 9, characterized in that the cut (50) is arranged to have depth:- from the second liner surface (31) to the first liner surface (33, 37); or- from the second liner surface (31) to between the second liner surface (31) and the first liner surface (33, 37).
11. A fabric patch (10) according to any one of claims 1 to 10, characterized in that the cut (50) is arranged to divide the release liner (30) into to a first liner part (36) and a second liner part (38).
12. A fabric patch (10) according to claim 11, characterized in that:- the second liner part (38) is greater than the first liner part (36); or- the second liner part (38) is at least two times greater than the first liner part (36).
13. A fabric patch (10) according to any one of claims 1 to 12, characterized in that the self-adhesive fabric patch comprises a central axis (X, Y) dividing the fabric substrate to a first substrate half and a second substrate half, and the cut (50) is provided to the first substrate half.
14. A fabric patch (10) according to any one of claims 1 to 13, characterized in that:- the cut (50) is provided as a linear cut (50); or- the cut is provided as a curved cut (50); or- the cut comprises a linear cut section and a curved cut section.

A fabric patch (10) according to any one of claims 12 to 15, characterized in that the fabric substrate (20) is a 2 -way stretch fabric configured to stretch in a first stretch direction (S), the cut (50) comprises a first cut end (52) and a second cut end (54), the cut (50) having a cut direction (C) extending linearly between the first and second cut ends (52, 54), and the cut direction (C) is arranged to extend:- in a cut angle of less than 45 degrees in relation to the first stretch direction (S), the cut angle being an angle between the cut direction (C) and the first stretch direction (S); or- parallel to the first stretch direction (S).
