[0003] A frame arrangement for a recessed luminaire

[0004] FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0005] The invention relates to a frame arrangement for a luminaire to be mounted as a recessed luminaire in a surface.

[0006] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0007] In the realm of luminaire design, spring holders play a crucial role. These T- shaped components securely hold coil spring elements in place. However, due to manufacturing constraints, these spring holders are often separate entities from the rest of the product. Attaching the spring holder to the frame arrangement often involves using a metal screw for screwing a metal spring holding part to the frame arrangement. This may be a reliable method, but a cost-intensive method. The need for an additional part, such as metal screw and other parts introduces complexity during assembly. The parts for the frame arrangement may be produced in different locations and most likely from different manufacturers. Furthermore, the workers must handle the multiple parts, align them precisely, and secure them together, which can be time-consuming and prone to assembly errors.

[0008] US2020318817A1 discloses an arrangement for suspending a lighting device, wherein at least a portion of the arrangement may be produced by a 3D-printing process, is provided an arrangement for suspending a lighting device. The arrangement comprises a spring element and a housing accommodating at least a portion of the spring element. The spring element has a U-shaped central portion. The housing comprises a first and a second cavity spaced apart by the first distance for fitting accommodation of the first and second coil, respectively. The housing is printed in a 3D printing material using a 3D-printer.

[0009] KR20210104266 discloses a recessed ceiling luminaire having a luminaire housing and a light-transmitting cover. The light-transmitting cover is fitted and placed on an inner edge of a frame. The luminaire further has a locking member for mounting the luminaire in a hole of the ceiling. The locking member has a horizontal surface that can be coupled to an upper surface of the frame. A vertical surface extends from an inner end of the horizontal surface. In an upper portion, the vertical surface has a through hole wherein a 2024PF80163

[0010] 2 torsion spring is fitted. At an outer end of the horizontal surface, the locking member has a locking jaw. The locking jaw is arranged to be fitted in a locking groove of the frame.

[0011] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0012] It is an object of the present invention to provide a frame arrangement for a luminaire, wherein the frame arrangement is durable, reliable during use and is capable of keeping the luminaire in an installation position in a ceiling, wall, or other surfaces, where the luminaire is being recessed.

[0013] It is a further object of the present invention to provide a method for manufacturing a frame arrangement, such that the frame arrangement is easily manufactured, and a method for assembling a frame arrangement, such that the frame arrangement is easy and rapid to assemble.

[0014] According to a first aspect of the invention, this and other objects are achieved by providing a frame arrangement for a luminaire, wherein the frame arrangement comprises a holding member and a receiving member, wherein the holding member comprises a connection end and the receiving member comprises a receptacle, wherein the holding member is rotatably hinged to an receiving member such that the holding member is rotatable around an axis of rotation from a first position to a second position relative to the receiving member such that the connecting end of the holding member is arranged relative to the receptacle of the receiving member, wherein the connection end is configured to be inserted into the receptacle by pushing the holding member from the second position to a third position into the receptacle such that the receptacle fully or partially encloses the connection end of the holding member, and such that the connection end is arranged in an interconnected position in the receiving member, and wherein the holding member comprises a spring attachment end, which is arranged opposite the connection end and configured to maintain a coil spring element in a tensioned position during use.

[0015] This invention thereby presents a frame arrangement for a luminaire in which at least one coil spring element can hold the holding member in place in the frame arrangement, so that the use of additional separate parts are avoided. The manufacturing becomes more agile, and the manufacturing costs is reduced, due to the need for fewer components and a more agile assembly method. The frame arrangement comprises at least one holding member configured to retain a coil spring element. The frame arrangement also comprises at least one receiving member. The receiving member may be a fixed part of the 2024PF80163

[0016] 3 frame arrangement. The holding member may be moveable attached to the receiving member.

[0017] The receiving member comprises at least one receptacle configured to enclose the connection end or ends of the holding member fully or partially. The holding member and the receiving member can be attached to each other using an interconnecting or interlocking mechanism. The connection end is inserted into the receptacle in the receiving member and arranged in an interconnecting position. The holding member comprises a spring attachment end, which is arranged opposite the connection end and configured to maintain a coil spring element in a tensioned position, when the luminaire may be recessed in a surface.

[0018] The use of 3D printing technology in the manufacturing industry is rapidly gaining popularity, due to its ability to achieve rapid prototyping of products and product parts. This eliminates the costs for expensive tools and present a more efficient and agile production line, especial when producing a variety of product types. The frame arrangement may be extruded in 3D printing material using a 3D printer. The frame arrangement may be 3D printed such that the holding member may be moveable attached to the receiving member. The frame arrangement may be 3D printed, such that the holding member may engage the receiving member.

The spring element may comprise a first and a second coil extending from a respective first and second coil spring leg of the central portion and parallel to the longitudinal direction L. The coils, in an unbiased state of the spring element, are spaced apart by a coil distance along the longitudinal direction L. The coil spring element may during use be maintained in a tensioned position between the T- shaped top extension and the surfaces wherein the luminaire may be recessed into.

[0037] In an embodiment the receiving member further comprises at least two openings configured to receive a coil spring leg of a coil spring element, such as to maintain the coil spring element in a tensioned position relative to the receiving member.

[0038] A coil spring element may comprise at least one spring coil with at least one coil spring leg and a central portion. A U-shaped coil spring element may for example comprise two spring coils each provided with a respective coil spring leg. The U-shaped coil spring is provided with a central portion extending away from the spring coil. If using a U- shaped coil spring element with two coil spring legs, the receiving member may be provided with at least two openings. The openings may be arranged on each side of the receptacle. Each of the openings may receive a respective coil spring leg of the coil spring element. By fixating the two coil spring legs of the coil spring element, the coil spring element may be kept in a tensioned position while the coil spring element may be fixated between the holding member in the receiving member. The coil spring element is a retaining spring which may come in a variety of different shapes and sizes.
