Last design system for mass produced footwear

Abstract

The invention discloses a way of making a template for use in making a last on which to form a shoe. The template represents the outline shape of the underside of a foot, including a heel portion, a toe portion, a maximum width portion located at the ball of the foot and a waisted intermediate portion between the maximum width portion and the heel portion. The external shape of the template includes two sections. In one, part of the outer contour of the heel portion is a circular arc of radius one half of the seat width, and in another the outer contour of two opposite lying portions of the maximum width portion of the template are circular arcs of radius one half of the tread width.
