Child safety seat for fastening to a vehicle seat, the child safety seat comprising a base and a child seat that can be adjusted in relation to the base between a first and a second inclined position, the base having a central engagement device, in particular a central strut (110), with a first engagement section (111) and a second engagement section (112), and the child seat having a locking means (214), the locking means engaging in the first engagement section when the child seat assumes the first inclined position with respect to the base, and the locking means engaging in the second engagement section when the child seat assumes the second inclined position with respect to the base.
