[0029] Various example embodiments of the present solution are described below with reference to the accompanying figures to enable a person of ordinary skill in the art to make and use the present solution. As would be apparent to those of ordinary skill in the art, after reading the present disclosure, various changes or modifications to the examples described herein can be made without departing from the scope of the present solution. Thus, the present solution is not limited to the example embodiments and applications described and illustrated herein. Additionally, the specific order or hierarchy of steps in the methods disclosed herein are merely example approaches. Based upon design preferences, the specific  order or hierarchy of steps of the disclosed methods or processes can be re-arranged while remaining within the scope of the present solution. Thus, those of ordinary skill in the art will understand that the methods and techniques disclosed herein present various steps or acts in a sample order, and the present solution is not limited to the specific order or hierarchy presented unless expressly stated otherwise.

[0030] 2. Systems and Methods for Satellite Communication

[0031] Implementation Example 1: Two neighSatelliteInfoList

[0032] A wireless communication device (e.g., a user equipment (UE) ) can be configured to support long term evolution (LTE)  / enhanced machine type communication (eMTC) operations and / or narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) operations. The wireless communication device may receive neighboring satellite information for at least one of: the LTE / eMTC operations or the NB-IoT operations from a wireless communication node (e.g., a network node, a satellite, a cell, a base station) . The wireless communication device may apply the neighboring satellite information to perform the at least one of: the LTE / eMTC operations or the NB-IoT operations. In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may receive the neighboring satellite information via at least one of: a system information block (SIB) 33; a SIB 27; a SIB 24; or SIB for NB-IoT.

[0033] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / enhanced machine type communication (eMTC) terrestrial network (TN) and NB-IoT non-terrestrial network (NTN) , the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to NB-IoT operations.

[0034] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / eMTC TN and LTE  / eMTC NTN, the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to LTE  / eMTC operations.

[0035] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / eMTC NTN and LTE  / eMTC NTN, the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to LTE  / eMTC operations.

[0036] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / eMTC NTN and NB-IoT NTN, the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to NB-IoT operations.

[0037] From the user equipment (UE) perspective, if the UE supports both LTE / eMTC and NB-IoT, the UE may acquire information about neighboring satellites for the NB-IoT system from the LTE / eMTC system and may apply this information to (operate in) the NB-IoT system. To facilitate this scenario, the network can broadcast information regarding neighboring satellites for both the NB-IoT and LTE / eMTC systems. In some embodiments, the UE may be able to distinguish / determine whether the satellite information is intended for the NB-IoT system or not.

[0038] From the network side, the system information may be used to broadcast two lists of neighboring satellite details: one list for LTE / eMTC and another for NB-IoT. Each list may include satellite IDs, ephemeris, and / or other relevant data. System information block 33 (SIB 33) may be used / transmitted to UE (s) to provide satellite assistance information for neighboring cells, comprising two neighSatelliteInfoLists. For example, neighSatelliteInfoList can be for LTE / eMTC NTN, neighSatelliteInfoListforNB-IoT can be for NB-IoT NTN.

[0039] From the network side, the system information may be used to broadcast two lists of neighboring satellite details: one list for LTE / eMTC and another for NB-IoT. Each list may include satellite IDs, ephemeris, and / or other relevant data. System information block 33 (SIB 33) may be used / transmitted to UE (s) to provide additional satellite assistance information for neighboring cells for NB-IoT NTN. For example, neighSatelliteInfoListforNB-IoT can be for NB-IoT NTN.

[0040] For user equipment (UE) , upon receiving system information such as SIB 33, if the UE supports NB-IoT functionality, the UE may utilize the neighbor satellite information specific to NB-IoT, e.g., neighSatelliteInfoListforNB-IoT. Similarly, if the UE supports LTE / eMTC , the UE may use the corresponding list for LTE / eMTC , e.g., neighSatelliteInfoList.

[0041] The broadcasted neighboring satellite information enables user equipments (UEs) to quickly identify and / or connect to appropriate non-terrestrial network (NTN) resources when transitioning / moving between NTNs and between NTN and TN.

[0042] Implementation Example 2: Indication

[0043] A wireless communication device (e.g., a user equipment (UE) ) can be configured to support long term evolution (LTE)  / enhanced machine type communication (eMTC) operations and / or narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) operations.

[0044] In some embodiments, applying / utilizing the neighboring satellite information may involve at least one of the following actions: the wireless communication device searching for at least one neighboring satellite based on the neighboring satellite information, or the wireless communication device camping on a cell associated with the at least one neighboring satellite according to the neighboring satellite information. If the network side (e.g., a satellite) broadcasts the neighboring satellite information to the UE, the UE may find / determine / search a cell and / or may perform a measurement or may camp on a satellite based on the neighboring satellite information.

[0045] In some embodiments, the neighboring satellite information may include at least one of: neighboring satellite information for the LTE / eMTC operations; or neighboring satellite information for the NB-IoT operations. In some embodiments, the neighboring satellite information may include at least one indication (e.g., 1 or more bits) identifying that a satellite is designated for the LTE / eMTC operations and / or the NB-IoT operations. In some embodiments, the UE may receive the neighboring satellite information via at least one system information block (SIB) , which may include at least one of a SIB 33; a SIB 27; a SIB 24; or SIB for NB-IoT.

[0046] From the network's perspective, in order to facilitate mobility between LTE / eMTC terrestrial networks (TN) and eMTC non-terrestrial networks (NTN) , the LTE / eMTC system may broadcast information about neighboring satellites related to eMTC operations.

[0047] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / eMTC NTN and LTE  / eMTC NTN, the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to LTE  / eMTC operations.

[0048] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / eMTC TN and NB-IoT NTN, the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to NB-IoT operations.

[0049] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / eMTC NTN and NB-IoT NTN, the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to NB-IoT operations.

[0050] From the UE's perspective, if a UE is equipped with both LTE / eMTC and NB-IoT capabilities, the UE may receive neighboring satellite information concerning the NB-IoT system from the LTE / eMTC system and can utilize that information within the NB-IoT system. To support this scenario, the network can broadcast neighboring satellite information pertaining to both the NB-IoT system and LTE / eMTC system, allowing the UE to determine / distinguish / discern whether the neighboring satellite information applies to the NB-IoT system or otherwise.

[0051] For the network, the system information broadcast may include a list of neighboring satellite information. Each entry may include an indication (e.g., one or more bits) specifying whether the satellite is for LTE / eMTC or NB-IoT. In some embodiments, system information block (SIB) 33 can be utilized to supply satellite assistance information for neighboring cells. In SIB 33, there can be a neighSatelliteInfoList that includes bits for each satellite, indicating the satellite’s association with LTE / eMTC and / or NB-IoT. For example, a bit value of 1 may represent LTE / eMTC, while a bit value of 0 may represent NB-IoT.

[0052] For the UE, upon obtaining system information (e.g., SIB 33) , if the UE supports NB-IoT functionality, the UE may utilize neighboring satellite information that indicates NB-IoT relevance. This is reflected in the neighSatelliteInfoList, where the satellite information can include a bit indicating NB-IoT. For instance, a bit value of 0 may correspond to NB-IoT operations. In some embodiments, if the UE supports eMTC functionality, the UE may apply / use neighboring satellite information relevant to eMTC operations, as indicated by a bit value of 1 in the neighSatelliteInfoList.

[0053] Implementation Example 3: Frequency

[0054] A wireless communication device (e.g., a user equipment (UE) ) can be configured to support long term evolution (LTE)  / enhanced machine type communication (eMTC) operations and / or narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) operations. The wireless communication device may receive neighboring satellite information for at least one of: the LTE / eMTC operations or the NB-IoT operations from a wireless communication node (e.g., a network node, a satellite, a cell, a base station) . The wireless communication device may apply / use the neighboring satellite information to perform the at least one of: the LTE / eMTC operations or the NB-IoT operations. In some embodiments, the UE may receive the neighboring satellite information via system information, for example via at least one of: a system information block (SIB) 33; a SIB 27; a SIB 24; or SIB for NB-IoT.

[0055] In some embodiments, the neighboring satellite information may include at least one frequency information deployed for at least one satellite. The at least one frequency information may include at least one of: an absolute radio frequency channel number (ARFCN) ; an offset of a channel number; or an evolved universal terrestrial radio access (E-UTRA) absolute radio frequency channel number (EARFCN) .

[0056] From the network's perspective, in order to facilitate mobility between LTE / eMTC terrestrial networks (TN) and eMTC non-terrestrial networks (NTN) , the LTE / eMTC system may broadcast information about neighboring satellites related to eMTC operations.

[0057] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / eMTC TN and LTE  / eMTC NTN, the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to LTE  / eMTC operations.

[0058] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / eMTC NTN and LTE  / eMTC NTN, the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to LTE  / eMTC operations.

[0059] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / eMTC NTN and NB-IoT NTN, the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to NB-IoT operations.

[0060] From the UE's perspective, if the UE is equipped with both LTE and NB-IoT, the UE may have access to neighboring satellite information regarding the NB-IoT system from the LTE / eMTC system and may apply the neighboring satellites information to the NB-IoT system. To facilitate this scenario, the network may broadcast the NB-IoT frequency, enabling the UE to identify / search / detect satellites based on the NB-IoT frequency.

[0061] System Information Block (SIB) 33 (or other system information) can be used to provide satellite assistance information for neighboring cells. The SIB 33 may include the NB-IoT frequency. In SIB 33, there can be a neighSatelliteInfoList that includes information for each satellite, for example including a list of NB-IoT frequencies or a NB-IoT frequency associated with that satellite. The NB-IoT frequency may comprise at least one of: an absolute radio frequency channel number (ARFCN) applicable to the NB-IoT carrier frequency, or an offset of the NB-IoT channel number relative to the evolved universal terrestrial radio access (E-UTRA) absolute radio frequency channel number (EARFCN) .

[0062] For the UE, upon obtaining system information, such as SIB 33, the UE may utilize the neighboring satellite information that pertains to the NB-IoT frequency if the UE supports or possess functionality of NB-IoT operations. For instance, the satellite information in the neighSatelliteInfoList may include a list of NB-IoT frequencies.

[0063] Implementation Example 3: Satellite ID

[0064] A wireless communication device (e.g., a user equipment (UE) ) can be configured to support long term evolution (LTE)  / enhanced machine type communication (eMTC) operations and / or narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) operations. In some embodiments, the UE may receive the neighboring satellite information via at least one of: a system information block (SIB) 33; a SIB 27; a SIB 24; or SIB for NB-IoT.

[0065] In some embodiments, the neighboring satellite information may include at least one of: a list of satellite identifiers (IDs) ; or a list of satellite information. In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may determine neighboring frequency  information and / or neighboring satellite information according to at least one of: a satellite ID of the list of satellite IDs. In some embodiments, the neighboring frequency information may include at least one of: a list of satellite identifiers (IDs) ; a list of assistance information for the cell selection; or a list of frequencies. Each of the list of frequencies may correspond to a satellite ID of the list of satellite IDs and / or one assistance information of the list of assistance information.

[0066] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / enhanced machine type communication (eMTC) terrestrial network (TN) and NB-IoT non-terrestrial network (NTN) , the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to NB-IoT operations.

[0067] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / eMTC TN and LTE  / eMTC NTN, the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to LTE  / eMTC operations.

[0068] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / eMTC NTN and LTE  / eMTC NTN, the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to LTE  / eMTC operations.

[0069] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / eMTC NTN and NB-IoT NTN, the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to NB-IoT operations.

[0070] From the perspective of the UE, if the UE is equipped with both LTE / eMTC and NB-IoT, the UE may access / obtain neighboring satellite information related to the NB-IoT system from the LTE / eMTC system and may apply the neighboring satellite information within the NB-IoT framework. To facilitate this scenario, the network can broadcast the NB-IoT frequency, enabling the UE to identify satellites based on the NB-IoT frequency.

[0071] System Information Block (SIB) 27 may include information pertinent to inter-radio access technology (RAT) cell selection, for example assistance information regarding NB-IoT frequencies for cell selection. In SIB 27, there may be an entry or a list of satellite IDs associated with each frequency. The SIB 27 may include an NB-IoT frequency list, where each frequency may correspond to a list or a satellite ID. The list of satellites may  indicate one or more NB-IoT frequencies associated with a satellite, or a frequency used by one or more satellites.

[0072] In system information such as SIB 27, a list of satellite IDs may be provided for each frequency. The SIB 27 may include both the NB-IoT frequency list and a list of satellite assistance information. Each NB-IoT frequency can be linked to specific satellite assistance information. The NB-IoT frequency list may include the same number of entries and can be organized in the same order as the list of satellite assistance information. For satellite assistance information, there can be one or a list of satellite IDs, which may indicate one or multiple NB-IoT frequencies developed by a satellite or a frequency used by one or more satellites. The satellite IDs can be linked to the satellite information found in SIB 33.

[0073] For the UE, upon obtaining the system information (e.g., SIB 27) , the UE can correlate the NB-IoT frequency with the satellite information in SIB 33 using the satellite ID. For example, if the NB-IoT frequency in SIB 27 shares the same satellite ID as the satellite information in SIB 33, the UE can retrieve / obtain the corresponding satellite information.

[0074] Implementation Example 4: Satellite ID

[0075] A wireless communication device (e.g., a user equipment (UE) ) can be configured to support long term evolution (LTE)  / enhanced machine type communication (eMTC) operations and / or new radio (NR) operations. The wireless communication device may receive neighboring satellite information for at least one of: the LTE / eMTC operations or the NR operations from a wireless communication node (e.g., a network node, a satellite, a cell, a base station) . The wireless communication device may apply / use the neighboring satellite information to perform the at least one of: the LTE / eMTC operations or the NR operations. In some embodiments, the UE may receive the neighboring satellite information via system information, which can include at least one of: a system information block (SIB) 33; a SIB 27; a SIB 24; or SIB for NB-IoT.

[0076] In some embodiments, the neighboring satellite information may include at least one of: a list of satellite identifiers (IDs) ; or a list of satellite information. In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may determine neighboring frequency information and neighboring satellite information according to at least one of: a satellite ID of the list of satellite IDs. In some embodiments, the neighboring frequency information may include at least one of: a list of satellite identifiers (IDs) ; a list of assistance information for  the cell selection; or a list of frequencies. Each of the list of frequencies may correspond to a satellite ID of the list of satellite IDs and one assistance information of the list of assistance information.

[0077] A satellite may be equipped with both LTE / eMTC and new radio (NR) capabilities. To facilitate mobility between LTE / eMTC and NR, the UE can obtain neighboring satellite information related to the NR system from the LTE / eMTC system and may apply the neighboring satellite information within the NR framework. The UE may identify the satellite based on its frequency, so the LTE / eMTC system can associate satellite information with the NR frequency.

[0078] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / enhanced machine type communication (eMTC) terrestrial network (TN) and NR non-terrestrial network (NTN) , the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to NR operations.

[0079] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / eMTC TN and LTE  / eMTC NTN, the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to LTE  / eMTC operations.

[0080] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / eMTC NTN and LTE  / eMTC NTN, the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to LTE  / eMTC operations.

[0081] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / eMTC NTN and NB-IoT NTN, the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to NR operations.

[0082] System Information Block (SIB) 24 may include information relevant to inter-RAT cell reselection, specifically details about NR frequencies and NR neighboring cells that are relevant for this process. This information can also be used for NR idle and / or inactive measurements. In SIB 24, there may be a satellite ID or a list of satellite IDs corresponding to each frequency. The SIB 24 may include a list of NR frequencies, where each NR frequency is linked to a list or a specific satellite ID. The list of satellites may indicate one or more NR frequencies associated with a satellite or an NR frequency utilized by one or more satellites.

[0083] In system information such as SIB 24, there can be a list of satellite IDs associated with each frequency. In some embodiments, the SIB 24 may include both an NR frequency list and a list of satellite assistance information. Each NR frequency may correspond to the satellite assistance information. The NR frequency list may have the same number of entries and can be organized in the same order as the list of satellite assistance information. The satellite assistance information may include one or a list of satellite IDs, indicating one or multiple NR frequencies developed by a satellite or an NR frequency used by one or more satellites.

[0084] For the UE, upon obtaining the system information (e.g., SIB 24) , the UE can correlate / identify / select the NR frequency with the satellite information in SIB 33 using the satellite ID. For example, if the NR frequency in SIB 24 shares the same satellite ID as the satellite information in SIB 33, the UE can obtain / retrieve the corresponding satellite information.

[0085] Implementation Example 5: SIB for NB-IoT

[0086] A wireless communication device (e.g., a user equipment (UE) ) can be configured to support long term evolution (LTE)  / enhanced machine type communication (eMTC) operations and / or narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) operations.

[0087] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / enhanced machine type communication (eMTC) terrestrial network (TN) and NB-IoT non-terrestrial network (NTN) , the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to NB-IoT operations.

[0088] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / eMTC TN and LTE  / eMTC NTN, the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to LTE  / eMTC operations.

[0089] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / eMTC NTN and LTE  / eMTC NTN, the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to LTE  / eMTC operations.

[0090] From the network side, to facilitate mobility (e.g., of a wireless communication device or UE) between LTE  / eMTC NTN and NB-IoT NTN, the LTE / eMTC system can broadcast information about neighboring satellites relevant to NB-IoT operations.

[0091] From the user equipment (UE) perspective, if the UE supports both LTE / eMTC and NB-IoT, the UE may acquire information about neighboring satellites for the NB-IoT system from the LTE / eMTC system and may apply this information to (operate in) the NB-IoT system. To facilitate this scenario, the network can broadcast information regarding neighboring satellites for both the NB-IoT and LTE / eMTC systems. In some embodiments, the UE may be able to distinguish / determine whether the satellite information is intended for the NB-IoT system or not.

[0092] From the network side, a system information may be used to broadcast neighboring satellite information for NB-IoT. Neighboring satellite information may include satellite IDs, ephemeris, frequency of NB-IoT and / or other relevant data. a System information block 33-NB (SIB 33-NB) may be used / transmitted to UE (s) to provide satellite assistance information for NB-IoT. SIB1 add the scheduling information for SIB 33-NB.

[0093] For user equipment (UE) , upon receiving system information such as SIB 33-NB, if the UE supports NB-IoT functionality, the UE may utilize the neighbor satellite information specific to NB-IoT.

[0094] The broadcasted neighboring satellite information enables user equipments (UEs) to quickly identify and / or connect to appropriate non-terrestrial network (NTN) resources when transitioning / moving between NTNs and between NTN and TN.

[0095] Implementation Example 6: UE Capability

[0096] In some embodiments, the wireless communication device (e.g., UE) may transmit a report that indicates whether the wireless communication device supports performing the NB-IoT operations and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) operations simultaneously to the wireless communication node.

[0097] A UE equipped with both LTE / eMTC and NB-IoT can obtain GNSS location data from the LTE / eMTC system and can apply it to the NB-IoT system. This enables the UE to perform NB-IoT operations and utilize GNSS simultaneously. The UE can report this capability to the network through its UE capability indication, allowing the network to schedule the UE without interruptions.

[0098] In some embodiments, the UE may report its capability that defines whether the UE is able to perform NB-IoT and GNSS simultaneously. The report may provide detailed location information in the radio resource control (RRC) measurement report, as well as logged measurements during RRC_IDLE, and can re-acquire the GNSS position without interruption during the RRC connection.

[0099] Since this feature is only available in NTN scenarios, a UE that supports the ability to perform NB-IoT and GNSS simultaneously can indicate its support for NTN access (e.g., ntn-Connectivity-EPC) . Given that the UE can access GNSS at all times, there is no need for restrictions on GNSS availability. A UE supporting this feature may not need to re-acquire the GNSS position before establishing the connection to avoid interruptions during the connection.

[0100] To assist in network scheduling, the UE's support for this feature can be reported before scheduling occurs, for example, when the UE enters RRC connection mode. The UE can report this capability through RRC messages, such as RRCConnectionSetupComplete (-NB) , RRCConnectionResumeComplete (-NB) , RRCConnectionReestablishmentComplete (-NB) , and / or RRCConnectionReconfigurationComplete messages.

[0101] In order to assist the scheduling of the network, whether the UE supports the feature or not can be reported, for example, after UE enter into RRC connection mode. The UE can report this capability via a RRC message, for example, UE capability.

[0102] If the UE supports this feature (e.g., whether the UE supports performing the NB-IoT operations and GNSS operations simultaneously) , there is no need to report the remaining GNSS time (e.g., indicating GNSS availability) or the GNSS duration (e.g., the time required for the UE to access GNSS) to the network. When the UE reports this capability via the RRC messages, the UE may not include the GNSS position fix time duration for measurement (e.g., gnss-PositionFixDuration) or / and the GNSS position fix time duration for measurement (e.g., gnss-ValidityDuration) .

[0103] If the UE supports this feature (e.g., whether the UE supports performing the NB-IoT operations and GNSS operations simultaneously) , the enhanced GNSS function that allows the UE to re-acquire the GNSS position without leaving the RRC connected mode and subsequently restore synchronization and resume communication does not need to be supported. If the UE indicates support for this capability, the UE may not support capabilities such as (e.g., ntn-Triggered-GNSS-Fix) , which may allow for network-triggered GNSS position fixes in RRC_CONNECTED, (e.g., ntn-Autonomous-GNSS-Fix) , which may support autonomous GNSS position fixes in RRC_CONNECTED, (e.g., ntn-UplinkTxExtension) , which may permit uplink transmission for a duration after the original GNSS validity period expires without re-acquiring GNSS, and (e.g., ntn-GNSS-EnhNGSO-Support) , which may apply GNSS measurement enhancements in RRC_CONNECTED for UE indicating support for geostationary satellite orbit (GSO) and non-GSO (NGSO) scenarios. Therefore, if the UE supports this capability, the UE may not report those four capabilities.

[0104] Implementation Example 7: Store and Forward Operation (S&F operation)

[0105] In some embodiments, the wireless communication device (e.g., UE) may receive satellite assistance information indicating whether a cell and / or a satellite is operating (or can operate) in a store-and-forward mode. In some embodiments, the satellite assistance information may include time information regarding the store-and-forward mode. The time information may include at least one of: a start time, a duration, or a stop time of the store-and-forward mode.

[0106] If a satellite operates in store and forward (S&F) mode and the feeder link is unavailable, the service for the UE cannot be guaranteed. Therefore, the UE can decide whether to access the satellite based on the known S&F mode of neighboring cells.

[0107] The satellite assistance information for neighboring cells may include a bit (e.g., indicating S&F operation) that specifies whether a cell is operating in S&F mode. In system information such as SIB 33, there can be a list of neighboring satellite information. For each neighboring satellite, there can be a bit indicating the S&F operation. If this bit is absent for a satellite, the cell associated with that satellite may be functioning / operating in normal mode. The UE in idle mode can treat this satellite cell as a normal cell. If this bit is present and set to 1 for a satellite, the bit indicates that the cell is operating in S&F mode. A UE supporting  S&F while in idle mode may consider accessing this cell, whereas a UE that does not support S&F may determine that the UE cannot access this cell. If this bit is present and set to 0 for a satellite, the bit may indicate that the cell is functioning in S&F mode, which means a UE supporting S&F can consider that the UE cannot access this cell.

[0108] In some embodiments, the satellite assistance information for neighboring cells may include timing details regarding the S&F operation. In SIB 33, the list of neighboring satellite information may include the time information. The time information may include at least one of: a start time, a duration, or a stop time of the S&F operation. Based on the time information, the UE can determine whether to access the cell.

[0109] It should be understood that one or more features from the above / following implementation examples are not exclusive to the specific implementation examples, but can be combined in any manner (e.g., in any priority and / or order, concurrently or otherwise) .

[0110] FIG. 3 illustrates a flow diagram of a method 300 for satellite communication. The method 300 may be implemented using any one or more of the components and devices detailed herein in conjunction with FIGs. 1–2. In overview, the method 300 may be performed by a wireless communication device (e.g., a UE) , in some embodiments. Additional, fewer, or different operations may be performed in the method 300 depending on the embodiment. At least one aspect of the operations is directed to a system, method, apparatus, or a computer-readable medium.

[0114] In some embodiments, the neighboring satellite information may include at least one of: neighboring satellite information for the LTE / eMTC operations; or neighboring satellite information for the NB-IoT operations. In some embodiments, the neighboring satellite information may include at least one indication identifying that a satellite is designated for the LTE / eMTC operations or the NB-IoT operations.

[0115] In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may receive the neighboring satellite information via system information, which can include at least one of: a system information block (SIB) 33; a SIB 27; a SIB 24; or SIB for NB-IoT.

[0116] In some embodiments, the neighboring satellite information may include at least one frequency information deployed for at least one satellite. The at least one frequency information may include at least one of: an absolute radio frequency channel number (ARFCN) ; an offset of a channel number; or an evolved universal terrestrial radio access (E-UTRA) absolute radio frequency channel number (EARFCN) .

[0117] In some embodiments, the neighboring satellite information may include at least one of: a list of satellite identifiers (IDs) ; or a list of satellite information.

[0118] In some embodiments, the wireless communication node can be included in at least one of: an LTE / eMTC non-terrestrial network (NTN) or a NB-IoT NTN. In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may transmit a report that indicates whether the wireless communication device supports performing the NB-IoT operations and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) operations simultaneously / concurrently to the wireless communication node.

[0119] In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may receive satellite assistance information indicating whether a cell and / or satellite is operating in a store-and-forward mode. In some embodiments, the satellite assistance information may include time information regarding the store-and-forward mode. The time information may include at least one of: a start time, a duration, or a stop time of the store-and-forward mode.

[0120] While various embodiments of the present solution have been described above, it should be understood that they have been presented by way of example only, and not by way of limitation. Likewise, the various diagrams may depict an example architectural or configuration, which are provided to enable persons of ordinary skill in the art to understand example features and functions of the present solution. Such persons would understand, however, that the solution is not restricted to the illustrated example architectures or configurations, but can be implemented using a variety of alternative architectures and configurations. Additionally, as would be understood by persons of ordinary skill in the art, one or more features of one embodiment can be combined with one or more features of another embodiment described herein. Thus, the breadth and scope of the present disclosure should not be limited by any of the above-described illustrative embodiments.

[0121] It is also understood that any reference to an element herein using a designation such as "first, " "second, " and so forth does not generally limit the quantity or order of those elements. Rather, these designations can be used herein as a convenient means of distinguishing between two or more elements or instances of an element. Thus, a reference to first and second elements does not mean that only two elements can be employed, or that the first element must precede the second element in some manner.

[0122] Additionally, a person having ordinary skill in the art would understand that information and signals can be represented using any of a variety of different technologies and techniques. For example, data, instructions, commands, information, signals, bits and  symbols, for example, which may be referenced in the above description can be represented by voltages, currents, electromagnetic waves, magnetic fields or particles, optical fields or particles, or any combination thereof.

[0123] A person of ordinary skill in the art would further appreciate that any of the various illustrative logical blocks, modules, processors, means, circuits, methods and functions described in connection with the aspects disclosed herein can be implemented by electronic hardware (e.g., a digital implementation, an analog implementation, or a combination of the two) , firmware, various forms of program or design code incorporating instructions (which can be referred to herein, for convenience, as "software" or a "software module) , or any combination of these techniques. To clearly illustrate this interchangeability of hardware, firmware and software, various illustrative components, blocks, modules, circuits, and steps have been described above generally in terms of their functionality. Whether such functionality is implemented as hardware, firmware or software, or a combination of these techniques, depends upon the particular application and design constraints imposed on the overall system. Skilled artisans can implement the described functionality in various ways for each particular application, but such implementation decisions do not cause a departure from the scope of the present disclosure.

[0124] Furthermore, a person of ordinary skill in the art would understand that various illustrative logical blocks, modules, devices, components and circuits described herein can be implemented within or performed by an integrated circuit (IC) that can include a general purpose processor, a digital signal processor (DSP) , an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) , a field programmable gate array (FPGA) or other programmable logic device, or any combination thereof. The logical blocks, modules, and circuits can further include antennas and / or transceivers to communicate with various components within the network or within the device. A general purpose processor can be a microprocessor, but in the alternative, the processor can be any conventional processor, controller, or state machine. A processor can also be implemented as a combination of computing devices, e.g., a combination of a DSP and a microprocessor, a plurality of microprocessors, one or more microprocessors in conjunction with a DSP core, or any other suitable configuration to perform the functions described herein.

[0125] If implemented in software, the functions can be stored as one or more instructions or code on a computer-readable medium. Thus, the steps of a method or algorithm disclosed  herein can be implemented as software stored on a computer-readable medium. Computer-readable media includes both computer storage media and communication media including any medium that can be enabled to transfer a computer program or code from one place to another. A storage media can be any available media that can be accessed by a computer. By way of example, and not limitation, such computer-readable media can include RAM, ROM, EEPROM, CD-ROM or other optical disk storage, magnetic disk storage or other magnetic storage devices, or any other medium that can be used to store desired program code in the form of instructions or data structures and that can be accessed by a computer.

[0126] In this document, the term "module" as used herein, refers to software, firmware, hardware, and any combination of these elements for performing the associated functions described herein. Additionally, for purpose of discussion, the various modules are described as discrete modules; however, as would be apparent to one of ordinary skill in the art, two or more modules may be combined to form a single module that performs the associated functions according embodiments of the present solution.

[0127] Additionally, memory or other storage, as well as communication components, may be employed in embodiments of the present solution. It will be appreciated that, for clarity purposes, the above description has described embodiments of the present solution with reference to different functional units and processors. However, it will be apparent that any suitable distribution of functionality between different functional units, processing logic elements or domains may be used without detracting from the present solution. For example, functionality illustrated to be performed by separate processing logic elements, or controllers, may be performed by the same processing logic element, or controller. Hence, references to specific functional units are only references to a suitable means for providing the described functionality, rather than indicative of a strict logical or physical structure or organization.

[0128] Various modifications to the embodiments described in this disclosure will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art, and the general principles defined herein can be applied to other embodiments without departing from the scope of this disclosure. Thus, the disclosure is not intended to be limited to the embodiments shown herein, but is to be accorded the widest scope consistent with the novel features and principles disclosed herein, as recited in the claims below.
