Abstract
Description
Base stations and communication methods
[0001] The present invention relates to a base station and a communication method in a wireless communication system.
[0002] The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) is exploring wireless communication methods known as 5G or NR (New Radio) (hereinafter referred to as "NR") in order to achieve even greater system capacity, even faster data transmission speeds, and even lower latency in the wireless section. In order to meet the requirements of achieving a throughput of 10 Gbps or more while keeping the latency in the wireless section below 1 ms, various wireless technologies and network architectures are being considered (for example, Non-Patent Documents 1 and 2).
[0003] Furthermore, various requirements are being considered for the next generation of 6G. These requirements include, for example, ultra-broadband communication, mission-critical communication, ultra-massive connection, universal coverage, intelligent connection, and ubiquitous sensing.
[0004] To meet these requirements, the new concept aims for extensibility (e.g., making it more effective for future use), ease of operation, customizability (e.g., making it easier to operate), and sustainability (e.g., cost reduction, a more robust configuration, and resilience). Furthermore, guaranteed communication, ensuring a minimum level of performance at all times, is being considered.
[0005] 3GPP TS 38.300 V18.3.0 (2024-09)3GPP TS 38.401 V18.3.0 (2024-09)
[0006] Various wireless relay technologies have been devised to simplify wireless base station networks. In mobile communication networks, fronthaul or backhaul relay between base stations may be performed wirelessly instead of via wire. For example, a mobile communication network may be configured using multiple land mobile relay stations.
[0007] In mobile communication networks, when fronthaul or backhaul relay between base stations is performed wirelessly rather than via wired connections, the wireless frequency bandwidth is far narrower than the wired frequency bandwidth. Therefore, if the data demands of terminals under the base station increase, relay link disconnections can occur, causing all terminals to be disconnected from the network and significantly reducing overall usage throughput.
[0008] This invention has been made in view of the above points, and aims to suppress the degradation of wireless relay performance in mobile communication systems.
[0009] According to the disclosed technology, a base station is provided which includes a control signal transceiver unit that receives information relating to the channel capacity of all subordinate nodes from a subordinate node directly connected to it, and a control unit that calculates the necessary communication volume for each subordinate node corresponding to the amount of data to be provided to each of the subordinate terminals, wherein the control unit determines a range of data to be provided to each terminal such that the communication channel capacity of any of the subordinate nodes is not exceeded based on the information relating to the channel capacity, and determines the amount of data to be provided to each terminal within the range based on an evaluation function relating to the amount of data to be provided.
[0010] According to the disclosed technology, it is possible to suppress the performance degradation of wireless relay in mobile communication systems.

[0012] Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. Note that the embodiments described below are examples, and the embodiments to which the present invention is applied are not limited to those described below.
[0013] In the operation of the wireless communication system according to the embodiments of the present invention, existing technologies may be used as appropriate. However, such existing technologies include, for example, existing LTE, but are not limited to existing LTE. Furthermore, the term "LTE" as used herein has a broad meaning that includes LTE-Advanced and LTE-Advanced and later technologies (e.g., NR), unless otherwise specified.
[0014] Furthermore, in the embodiments of the present invention described below, terms such as SS (Synchronization signal), PSS (Primary SS), SSS (Secondary SS), PBCH (Physical broadcast channel), PRACH (Physical random access channel), PDCCH (Physical Downlink Control Channel), PDSCH (Physical Downlink Shared Channel), PUCCH (Physical Uplink Control Channel), and PUSCH (Physical Uplink Shared Channel), which are used in existing LTE systems, will be used. This is for convenience of description, and similar signals, functions, etc., may be called by other names. Also, the above terms in NR correspond to NR-SS, NR-PSS, NR-SSS, NR-PBCH, NR-PRACH, etc. However, even if a signal is used in NR, it is not necessarily explicitly stated as "NR-".
[0015] Furthermore, in the embodiments of the present invention, the duplex system may be a TDD (Time Division Duplex) system, an FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) system, or any other system (for example, a Flexible Duplex).
[0016] Furthermore, in the embodiments of the present invention, "configuring" wireless parameters may mean that predetermined values are pre-configured, or that wireless parameters notified from the base station 10 or terminal 20 are configured.
[0017] Figure 1 shows an example of the configuration of a wireless communication system in an embodiment of the present invention. The wireless communication system in the embodiment of the present invention includes a base station 10 and a terminal 20, as shown in Figure 1. Figure 1 shows one base station 10 and one terminal 20, but this is an example, and there may be multiple base stations 10 and terminals 20.
[0018] Base station 10 is a communication device that provides one or more cells and communicates wirelessly with terminal 20. The physical resources of the wireless signal are defined in the time domain and the frequency domain. The time domain may be defined by the number of OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) symbols, and the frequency domain may be defined by the number of subcarriers or resource blocks. Base station 10 transmits synchronization signals and system information to terminal 20. Synchronization signals are, for example, NR-PSS and NR-SSS. System information is transmitted, for example, in NR-PBCH and is also called broadcast information. Synchronization signals and system information may also be called SSB (SS / PBCH block). As shown in Figure 1, base station 10 transmits control signals or data to terminal 20 via DL (Downlink) and receives control signals or data from terminal 20 via UL (Uplink). Both base station 10 and terminal 20 are capable of transmitting and receiving signals using beamforming. Furthermore, both the base station 10 and the terminal 20 can apply MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) communication to DL or UL. Also, both the base station 10 and the terminal 20 may communicate via Carrier Aggregation (CA) through secondary cells (SCell) and primary cells (PCell). Additionally, the terminal 20 may communicate via Dual Connectivity (DC) through the primary cell of base station 10 and the primary secondary cell group cell (PSCell) of another base station 10.
[0019] Terminal 20 is a communication device equipped with wireless communication capabilities, such as a smartphone, mobile phone, tablet, wearable device, or M2M (Machine-to-Machine) communication module. As shown in Figure 1, Terminal 20 receives control signals or data from the base station 10 via DL and transmits control signals or data to the base station 10 via UL, thereby utilizing various communication services provided by the wireless communication system. Terminal 20 also receives various reference signals transmitted from the base station 10 and performs propagation path quality measurement based on the reception results of said reference signals.
[0020] Furthermore, various requirements are being considered for the next generation of 6G. For example, these requirements may include ultra-broadband communication, mission-critical communication, ultra-massive connection, universal coverage, intelligent connection, and ubiquitous sensing.
[0021] Furthermore, these requirements may include ultra-high-speed communication, large-capacity communication, ultra-wide coverage, ultra-low power consumption, cost reduction, ultra-low latency, ultra-high reliability communication, ultra-high connectivity, and sensing.
[0022] To meet these requirements, the new concept aims for extensibility (e.g., making it more effective for future use), ease of operation, customizability (e.g., making it easier to operate), and sustainability (e.g., cost reduction, a more robust configuration, and resilience). Furthermore, guaranteed communication, ensuring a minimum level of performance at all times, is being considered.
[0023] To simplify wireless base station networks, various wireless relay technologies have been devised. In mobile communication networks, fronthaul or backhaul relay between base stations may be performed wirelessly instead of via wire. For example, a mobile communication network may be configured using multiple land mobile relay stations.
[0024] In mobile communication networks, when fronthaul or backhaul relay between base stations is performed wirelessly rather than via wired connections, the wireless frequency bandwidth is far narrower than the wired frequency bandwidth. Therefore, if the data demands of terminals under the base station increase, relay link disconnections can occur, causing all terminals to be disconnected from the network and significantly reducing overall usage throughput.
[0025] Figure 2 is a diagram illustrating an example of network congestion. As shown in Figure 2, UE#1 and UE#2 are connected to RU (Radio Unit) #1, UE#3 and UE#4 are connected to RU#2, and RU#1 and RU#2 are connected to DU (Distributed Unit) #1.
[0026] For example, even if the communication capacity between RU#1 and UE#1 and UE#2 does not exceed the communication channel capacity between RU#1 and UE#1 and UE#2, and the communication capacity between RU#2 and UE#3 and UE#4 does not exceed the communication channel capacity between RU#2 and UE#3 and UE#4, as shown in Figure 2, if the communication capacity between DU#1 and RU#1 and RU#2 exceeds the communication channel capacity between DU#1 and RU#1 and RU#2, congestion is expected to occur and the relay link may be disconnected.
[0027] Therefore, scheduling may be implemented that takes into account the overall network channel capacity and suppresses congestion caused by exceeding the channel capacity of each base station node, as well as a decrease in overall throughput.
[0028] Next, an example of the functional configuration of a base station 10 and a terminal 20 that perform the processes and operations described in the embodiment of the present invention will be described. The base station 10 and the terminal 20 include functions to perform the embodiment. However, the base station 10 and the terminal 20 may each have only some of the functions in the embodiment.
[0029] <Base Station 10> Figure 3 is a diagram showing an example of the functional configuration of a base station 10 in an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in Figure 3, the base station 10 includes a control unit 101, a control signal transmission / reception unit 102, a control signal transmission / reception unit 103, a data transmission / reception unit 104, a data transmission / reception unit 105, and a data volume detection unit 106. The base station 10 shown in Figure 3 may be a DU, an RU, or a CU. The functional configuration shown in Figure 3 is merely an example. Any functional classification and functional unit name is acceptable as long as it can perform the operations according to the embodiment of the present invention.
[0030] The control unit 101 may control resource allocation with each terminal based on the communication channel capacity of the subordinate nodes received from the subordinate nodes and the data requests received from the terminals. The functions of the control unit 101 may be possessed only by the top-level node, for example, by the DU. The control unit 101 may control the control signal transmission / reception unit 102, the control signal transmission / reception unit 103, the data transmission / reception unit 104, the data transmission / reception unit 105, and the data volume detection unit 106, respectively. The control unit 101 may transmit control signals to other nodes to the control signal transmission / reception unit 102 and the control signal transmission / reception unit 103, and may receive control signals from other nodes to the control signal transmission / reception unit 102 and the control signal transmission / reception unit 103. The control unit 101 may receive the amount of data transmitted and received with each terminal from the data volume detection unit.
[0031] The control signal transmission / reception unit 102 receives resource allocation information from the higher-level node, information indicating the communication channel capacity between its own node and the lower-level node, and the communication channel capacity reported by the lower-level node (where i is the node number, b is the communication channel capacity). i The following information may be sent to the higher-level node: (as stated above). The control signal transmission / reception unit 102 may also send information indicating the amount of data requested from the terminal to the higher-level node.
[0032] The control signal transceiver 103 transmits resource allocation information to the lower-level nodes, and may receive from the lower-level nodes information indicating the communication channel capacity between the lower-level node and the lower-level node of the said lower-level node (the communication channel capacity b reported from the said lower-level node). Also, the control signal transceiver 103 may receive from the lower-level nodes information indicating the data request amount from the terminals. i
[0033] The data transceiver 104 performs data transmission and reception with the upper-level node. The data transceiver 105 performs data transmission and reception with the lower-level nodes, and may transmit information related to the data transmission and reception to the data amount detector 106. The data amount detector 106 detects the data transmission and reception amounts with each terminal based on the information related to the data transmission and reception received from the data transceiver 105.
[0034] <Terminal 20> FIG. 4 is a diagram showing an example of the functional configuration of the terminal 20 in an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 4, the terminal 20 includes a control unit 201, a control signal transceiver 202, and a data transceiver 203. The functional configuration shown in FIG. 4 is merely an example. As long as the operations according to the embodiments of the present invention can be executed, the functional divisions and the names of the functional units may be anything.
[0035] The control unit 201 controls the data transmission and reception amount in the data transceiver 203 based on the control information received from the control signal transceiver 202. The control signal transceiver 202 receives resource allocation information from the control signal transceiver 103 of the base station 10. Also, the control signal transceiver 202 may transmit information indicating the data request amount to the upper-level node. The data transceiver 203 performs data transmission and reception with the data transceiver 105 of the base station 10 based on the control from the control unit 201.
[0036] FIG. 5 is a diagram showing an example (1) of the functional configuration of the system in an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 5 shows an example of the functional configuration of the system when there are three base station hierarchies. Each base station may be any of DU, RU, or CU.
[0037] The base station layer 3 is composed of the base station 3-1 which is the topmost node. The control unit 101 of the base station 3-1 controls resource allocation with each terminal. The control signal transceiver 103 transmits resource allocation information to the control signal transceivers 102 of each base station in the base station layer 2, and receives information related to the communication path capacity from the control signal transceivers 102 of each base station in the base station layer 2. Also, the control signal transceiver 103 may receive information indicating the data request amount of the terminal from the control signal transceivers 102 of each base station in the base station layer 2. The data transceiver 105 executes data transmission and reception with the data transceivers 104 of each base station in the base station layer 2.
[0038] The base station layer 2 is composed of the base stations 2-1 and 2-2. The control units 101 of the base stations 2-1 and 2-2 may control resource allocation with each terminal. The control signal transceiver 103 transmits resource allocation information to the control signal transceivers 102 of each base station in the base station layer 1, and receives information related to the communication path capacity from the control signal transceivers 102 of each base station in the base station layer 1. Also, the control signal transceiver 103 may receive information indicating the data request amount of the terminal from the control signal transceivers 102 of each base station in the base station layer 1. The data transceiver 105 executes data transmission and reception with the data transceivers 104 of the base stations in the base station layer 3. The data transceiver 104 executes data transmission and reception with the data transceivers 105 of the base stations in the base station layer 1.
[0039] The base station layer 1 is composed of the base stations 1-1 and 1-2. The control units 101 of the base stations 1-1 and 1-2 may control resource allocation with each terminal. The data transceiver 104 executes data transmission and reception with the data transceivers 105 of the base stations in the base station layer 2. Also, the control signal transceiver 104 may transmit information indicating the data request amount of the terminal to the control signal transceivers 105 of each base station in the base station layer 2.
[0040] As shown in Figure 5, multiple lower nodes of base station layer 1 may be connected to one higher node of base station layer 2. For example, two lower nodes, base station 1-1 and base station 1-2, may be connected to base station 2-1, or two lower nodes, base station 1-1 and base station 1-2, may be connected to base station 2-2.
[0041] Figure 6 shows an example (2) of the functional configuration of the system in an embodiment of the present invention. The base station layer 1 shown in Figure 6 consists of base station 1-1 and base station 1-2, and corresponds to the base station layer 1 shown in Figure 5. The terminal layer consists of terminal 1 and terminal 2.
[0042] The control units 101 of base stations 1-1 and 1-2 may control resource allocation with each terminal. The control signal transmission / reception unit 103 transmits resource allocation information to the control signal transmission / reception unit 202 of each terminal in the terminal layer. The control signal transmission / reception unit 103 may also receive information indicating the amount of data requested by each terminal from the control signal transmission / reception unit 202 of each terminal. The data transmission / reception unit 105 performs data transmission and reception with the data transmission / reception unit 203 of the terminals in the terminal layer. The data transmission / reception unit 104 performs data transmission and reception with the data transmission / reception unit 105 of each base station in base station layer 2.
[0043] The control units 201 of terminals 1 and 2 control the amount of data transmitted and received. The control signal transmission / reception unit 202 receives resource allocation information from the control signal transmission / reception unit 105 of each base station in base station layer 1. The control signal transmission / reception unit 202 may also transmit information indicating the amount of data requested by the terminals to the control signal transmission / reception unit 103 of each base station in base station layer 1. The data transmission / reception unit 203 performs data transmission and reception with the data transmission / reception unit 105 of each base station in base station layer 1.
[0044] Figure 7 is a flowchart illustrating an example of the operation of the system in an embodiment of the present invention. In step S101, the top-level node in the network acquires the communication channel capacity of all subordinate nodes. For example, the top-level node in the network may acquire the communication channel capacity of all subordinate nodes by performing the following steps 1)-2).
[0045] 1) Each node of the base station reports the communication path capacity between its own node and the subordinate node to the upper node.
[0046] 2) Each node of the base station reports the communication path capacity reported from the subordinate node (denoted as b i with the node number of the subordinate node as i) to the upper node.
[0047] In addition, after each node of the base station receives a report from the subordinate node, it may report the communication path capacity between its own node and the subordinate node and the communication path capacity included in the report from the subordinate node to the upper node. Also, the lowest-level node may report the communication path capacity between its own node and the terminal to the upper node.
[0048] In step S102, the topmost node executes resource allocation for the data request from the terminal. The topmost node may acquire information related to the data requests of all terminals connected to the mobile communication system, and the information related to the data request may be the required traffic volume or the range of the required traffic volume. After the resource allocation, each base station may execute communication with each terminal based on the resource allocation via the data transceiver. The resource allocation may be executed according to the following procedures a)-c).
[0049] a) Calculate the traffic volume c 1 , ···, x j , ···] T required for the i-th base station node for the data supply amount x = [x i to the terminal. However, let the data supply amount to the j-th terminal be x j .
[0050] b) Calculate the region of the terminal data supply amount (b - i ≤ c i (x) ≤ b + i ) that does not exceed the communication path capacity between any base station nodes or the communication path capacity between the base station node and the terminal. By procedure b), the communication path capacity of the entire network can be considered.
[0051] c) Find the resource allocation x → g(x) that maximizes or minimizes the evaluation function f(x) with respect to x within the domain range calculated in step b). The evaluation function f(x) and allocation g(x) are a sequence of numbers g(x(t) representing past allocations. k-1 )), g(x(t k-2 )), ... may be used as arguments. However, t k x(t) is the kth time, k ) is time t k This represents the amount of data provided. Procedure c) allows for easy integration with existing schedulers.
[0052] Figure 8 is a diagram illustrating an example of scheduling evaluation in an embodiment of the present invention. Using Figure 8, the details of resource allocation when the required communication volume for each base station node is represented by a linear sum of the communication volumes of terminals will be explained. Steps 1) to 3) shown below may be performed.
[0053] 1) Formulate the limiting conditions. Equation 1 shows an example of a limiting condition regarding the communication channel capacity of each node (RU, DU, or CU).
[0054]
[0055] Furthermore, equation 2 shows the AND condition for the restriction given by equation 1. The set of feasible solutions to equation 2 forms a linear convex manifold.
[0056]
[0057] 2) Formulate the scheduling evaluation function. Equation 3 shows an example of an evaluation function for the amount of data to be provided.
[0058]
[0059] If f is a convex function, then the feasible region is a convex set, and therefore the local optimum for any initial value coincides with the global optimum.
[0060] Based on the formulations described in 1) and 2) above, the CU determines resource allocation and performs scheduling. Resource allocation determination or scheduling may be performed by devices other than the CU, such as the DU. For example, as shown in Figure 8, the optimal solution may be calculated using the evaluation function shown in Equation 4.
[0061]
[0062] The CU may periodically collect information related to c and d from its subordinate nodes. Alternatively, a DU or RU with subordinate nodes may determine resource allocation to its subordinate nodes and perform scheduling instead of the CU.
[0063] The above embodiment makes it possible to suppress congestion and overall throughput reduction caused by exceeding the communication channel capacity of each base station node that is wirelessly connected to one another.
[0064] In other words, it is possible to suppress the performance degradation of wireless relay in mobile communication systems.
[0065] The block diagrams (Figures 3 and 4) used in the description of the above embodiments show functional units. These functional blocks (components) are realized by any combination of at least one of hardware and software. Furthermore, the method of realizing each functional block is not particularly limited. That is, each functional block may be realized using one device that is physically or logically coupled, or it may be realized using two or more physically or logically separated devices that are directly or indirectly connected (for example, using wired or wireless connections). A functional block may be realized by combining the one or more devices with software.
[0066] Functions include, but are not limited to, judgment, decision, judgment, calculation, calculation, processing, derivation, investigation, exploration, confirmation, reception, transmission, output, access, resolution, selection, selection, establishment, comparison, assumption, expectation, assumption, broadcasting, notifying, communicating, forwarding, configuring, reconfiguring, allocating (mapping), and assigning. For example, a functional block (configuration part) that enables transmission is called a transmitting unit or transmitter. In all cases, as mentioned above, the method of implementation is not particularly limited.
[0067] For example, the base station 10, terminal 20, etc. in one embodiment of the present disclosure may function as a computer that processes the wireless communication method of the present disclosure. Figure 9 is a diagram showing an example of the hardware configuration of the base station 10 and terminal 20 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure. The transmitting and receiving section may be implemented in a physically or logically separated manner, with a transmitting section and a receiving section.
[0075] The input device 1005 is an input device that accepts input from an external source (e.g., a keyboard, mouse, microphone, switch, button, sensor, etc.). [0088] (Summary of Embodiments) As described above, according to embodiments of the present invention, a base station is provided which includes a control signal transmitting and receiving unit that receives information relating to the communication channel capacity of all subordinate nodes from a subordinate node directly connected to it among all subordinate nodes, and a control unit that calculates the necessary communication amount for each subordinate node corresponding to the amount of data to be provided to each of the subordinate terminals, wherein the control unit determines a range of data to be provided to each terminal such that the communication channel capacity of any of the subordinate nodes is not exceeded based on the information relating to the communication channel capacity, and determines the amount of data to be provided to each terminal within the range based on an evaluation function relating to the amount of data to be provided.
[0089] The above configuration makes it possible to suppress congestion and overall throughput degradation caused by exceeding the communication channel capacity of each base station node that is connected to each other wirelessly. In other words, it is possible to suppress the performance degradation of wireless relay in a mobile communication system.
[0090] The control signal transmission / reception unit receives information relating to the data request amount of each terminal from the lower node directly connected to it among all the lower nodes, and the control unit may determine a range of data provision amount to each terminal based on the information relating to the communication channel capacity so as not to exceed the communication channel capacity of any of the lower nodes, and then determine the amount of data provision to each terminal based on an evaluation function for data provision amount within the range and within the range of the data request amount of each terminal. With this configuration, congestion and a decrease in overall throughput due to exceeding the communication channel capacity of each base station node connected to each other by wireless can be suppressed.
[0091] The control unit may, when the required communication volume of each subordinate node is expressed as a linear sum of the communication volumes of each terminal, set the limit condition of a certain subordinate node as a linear inequality of the number of terminals, and set the limit condition of all subordinate nodes under its control as an AND condition of the limit condition of each subordinate node. This configuration makes it possible to suppress congestion and a decrease in overall throughput caused by exceeding the communication channel capacity of each base station node that is connected to each other by wireless.
[0092] The control unit may perform scheduling, including PF (Proportional Fair) scheduling, based on the evaluation function. This configuration can suppress congestion and overall throughput reduction caused by exceeding the communication channel capacity of each base station node connected to each other wirelessly.
[0093] The control signal transmission / reception unit may periodically collect information regarding the communication channel capacity of all subordinate nodes under its control. This configuration makes it possible to suppress congestion and a decrease in overall throughput caused by exceeding the communication channel capacity of each base station node that is wirelessly connected to one another.
[0094] Furthermore, according to an embodiment of the present invention, a communication method is provided in which a base station performs the following steps: receiving information relating to the communication channel capacity of all subordinate nodes from a subordinate node directly connected to it among all the subordinate nodes; calculating the required communication volume for each subordinate node corresponding to the amount of data to be provided to each of the subordinate terminals; and determining a range of data to be provided to each terminal based on the information relating to the communication channel capacity, such that the communication channel capacity of any of the subordinate nodes is not exceeded, and determining the amount of data to be provided to each terminal within the range based on an evaluation function relating to the amount of data to be provided.
[0095] The above configuration makes it possible to suppress congestion and overall throughput degradation caused by exceeding the communication channel capacity of each base station node that is connected to each other wirelessly. In other words, it is possible to suppress the performance degradation of wireless relay in a mobile communication system.

[0099] The processing procedures, sequences, flowcharts, etc., of each aspect / embodiment described herein may be reordered, provided they are consistent with each other. For example, the methods described herein present various step elements in an exemplary order and are not limited to that specific order.
[0100] In this specification, specific operations performed by the base station 10 may, in some cases, be performed by its upper node. In a network consisting of one or more network nodes having a base station 10, it is clear that various operations performed for communication with the terminal 20 can be performed by the base station 10 and at least one of the other network nodes (for example, an MME or S-GW, but not limited to these). Although the above example illustrates the case where there is one other network node besides the base station 10, the other network node may be a combination of multiple other network nodes (for example, an MME and an S-GW).
[0101] The information or signals described in this disclosure may be output from a higher layer (or lower layer) to a lower layer (or higher layer). They may also be input and output via multiple network nodes.
[0102] Input and output information may be stored in a specific location (e.g., memory) or managed using a management table. Input and output information may be overwritten, updated, or appended to. Output information may be deleted. Input information may be transmitted to other devices.
[0103] The determination in this disclosure may be made by a value represented by one bit (0 or 1), by a Boolean value (true or false), or by a numerical comparison (for example, a comparison with a predetermined value).
[0104] Software should be broadly interpreted to mean instructions, instruction sets, code, code segments, program code, programs, subprograms, software modules, applications, software applications, software packages, routines, subroutines, objects, executable files, execution threads, procedures, functions, and so on, whether they are called software, firmware, middleware, microcode, hardware description languages, or by any other name.
[0105] Furthermore, software, instructions, information, etc., may be transmitted and received via a transmission medium. For example, if software is transmitted from a website, server, or other remote source using at least one of wired technology (such as coaxial cable, fiber optic cable, twisted pair, or digital subscriber line (DSL)) and wireless technology (such as infrared or microwave), then at least one of these wired and wireless technologies is included in the definition of a transmission medium.
[0106] The information, signals, etc. described in this disclosure may be represented using any of the various different techniques. For example, the data, instructions, commands, information, signals, bits, symbols, chips, etc. that may be referred to throughout the above description may be represented by voltage, current, electromagnetic waves, magnetic fields or magnetic particles, optical fields or photons, or any combination thereof.
[0107] In addition, terms used in this disclosure and terms necessary for understanding this disclosure may be replaced with terms having the same or similar meanings. For example, at least one of the channel and symbol may be a signal (signaling). Also, a signal may be a message. Furthermore, a component carrier (CC) may be called a carrier frequency, cell, frequency carrier, etc.
[0108] The terms “system” and “network” as used in this disclosure are interchangeable.
[0109] Furthermore, the information, parameters, etc., described in this disclosure may be expressed using absolute values, relative values from a given value, or other corresponding information. For example, wireless resources may be indicated by an index.
[0110] The names used for the parameters described above are not restrictive in any way. Furthermore, the formulas and other expressions using these parameters may differ from those expressly disclosed in this disclosure. Various channels (e.g., PUCCH, PDCCH, etc.) and information elements can be identified by any suitable name, and therefore, the various names assigned to these various channels and information elements are not restrictive in any way.
[0111] In this disclosure, terms such as "Base Station (BS)", "wireless base station", "base station equipment", "fixed station", "NodeB", "eNodeB (eNB)", "gNodeB (gNB)", "access point", "transmission point", "reception point", "transmission / reception point", "cell", "sector", "cell group", "carrier", and "component carrier" may be used interchangeably. Base stations may also be referred to by terms such as macrocell, small cell, femtocell, and picocell.
[0112] A base station can accommodate one or more (e.g., three) cells. If a base station accommodates multiple cells, the entire coverage area of the base station can be divided into multiple smaller areas, each of which may also be provided with communication services by a base station subsystem (e.g., a Remote Radio Head (RRH)). The terms “cell” or “sector” refer to part or all of the coverage area of at least one of the base station and / or base station subsystems that provide communication services in that coverage.
[0113] In this disclosure, the transmission of information by a base station to a terminal may be interpreted as the base station instructing the terminal to perform control or operation based on the information.
[0114] In this disclosure, terms such as "Mobile Station (MS)," "user terminal," "User Equipment (UE)," and "terminal" may be used interchangeably.
[0115] A mobile station may also be referred to by those skilled in the art as a subscriber station, mobile unit, subscriber unit, wireless unit, remote unit, mobile device, wireless device, wireless communication device, remote device, mobile subscriber station, access terminal, mobile terminal, wireless terminal, remote terminal, handset, user agent, mobile client, client, or several other appropriate terms.
[0116] At least one of the base station and the mobile station may be called a transmitting device, a receiving device, a communication device, etc. At least one of the base station and the mobile station may also be a device mounted on a mobile body, the mobile body itself, etc. The mobile body refers to a movable object, and its speed of movement is arbitrary. This also includes the case when the mobile body is stationary. The mobile body includes, but is not limited to, vehicles, transport vehicles, automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, connected cars, excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, dump trucks, forklifts, trains, buses, handcarts, rickshaws, ships and other watercraft, airplanes, rockets, satellites, drones (registered trademark), multicopters, quadcopters, balloons, and items mounted on them. The mobile body may also be a mobile body that moves autonomously based on operation commands. It may be a vehicle (e.g., a car, an airplane, etc.), an unmanned mobile body (e.g., a drone, an autonomous vehicle, etc.), or a robot (manned or unmanned). Furthermore, at least one of the base station and the mobile station may include devices that do not necessarily move during communication operations. For example, at least one of the base station and the mobile station may be an IoT (Internet of Things) device such as a sensor.
[0117] Furthermore, the term "base station" in this disclosure may be interpreted as "user terminal." For example, the various aspects / embodiments of this disclosure may be applied to a configuration in which communication between a base station and a user terminal is replaced with communication between multiple terminals 20 (which may be called, for example, D2D (Device-to-Device), V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything), etc.). In this case, the terminals 20 may have the functions that the base station 10 has. Also, terms such as "uplink" and "downlink" may be interpreted as terms corresponding to terminal-to-terminal communication (for example, "side"). For example, uplink channel, downlink channel, etc., may be interpreted as side channel.
[0118] Similarly, the term "user terminal" in this disclosure may be replaced with "base station." In this case, the base station may be configured to have the same functions as the user terminal described above.
[0119] As used in this disclosure, the terms “determining” and “determining” may encompass a wide variety of actions. “Determining” may include, for example, judging, calculating, computing, processing, deriving, investigating, looking up, searching, or inquiring (e.g., searching in a table, database, or other data structure), or ascertaining. “Determining” may also include receiving (e.g., receiving information), transmitting (e.g., sending information), inputting, outputting, or accessing (e.g., accessing data in memory). Furthermore, "judgment" and "decision" can include considering something as having been "judged" or "decided" after resolving, selecting, choosing, establishing, comparing, etc. In other words, "judgment" and "decision" can include considering something as having been "judged" or "decided" after some action. Also, "judgment (decision)" can be reinterpreted as "assuming," "expecting," or "considering."
[0120] The terms “connected,” “coupled,” or any variation thereof, mean any direct or indirect connection or coupling between two or more elements, and may include the presence of one or more intermediate elements between two elements that are “connected” or “coupled” with each other. The coupling or connection between elements may be physical, logical, or a combination thereof. For example, “connection” may be reinterpreted as “access.” As used in this disclosure, two elements may be considered to be “connected” or “coupled” with each other using at least one of one or more wires, cables, and printed electrical connections, and, in some non-limiting and non-exclusive examples, electromagnetic energy having wavelengths in the radio frequency domain, microwave domain, and optical (both visible and invisible) domain.
[0121] The reference signal can also be abbreviated as RS (Reference Signal), and may be called a pilot depending on the applicable standard.
[0122] In this disclosure, the phrase "based on" does not mean "based solely on" unless otherwise specified. In other words, the phrase "based on" means both "based solely on" and "based at least on."
[0123] Any reference to elements using the designations “first,” “second,” etc., as used in this disclosure does not generally limit the quantity or order of those elements. These designations may be used in this disclosure as a convenient way to distinguish between two or more elements. Accordingly, references to the first and second elements do not imply that only two elements may be employed, or that the first element must precede the second element in any way.
[0124] In the configuration of each of the above devices, "means" may be replaced with "part," "circuit," "device," etc.
[0125] Where the terms “include,” “including,” and variations thereof are used in this disclosure, these terms are intended to be inclusive, as is the term “comprising.” Furthermore, the term “or” as used in this disclosure is not intended to mean exclusive OR.
[0126] A wireless frame may consist of one or more frames in the time domain. Each of these frames in the time domain may be called a subframe. A subframe may further consist of one or more slots in the time domain. A subframe may have a fixed time length (e.g., 1 ms) that is independent of numerology.
[0127] Numerical logic may be communication parameters applied to at least one of the transmission and reception of a signal or channel. Numerical logic may include, for example, at least one of the following: subcarrier spacing (SCS), bandwidth, symbol length, cyclic prefix length, transmission time interval (TTI), number of symbols per TTI, radio frame configuration, specific filtering processes performed by the transceiver in the frequency domain, and specific windowing processes performed by the transceiver in the time domain.
[0128] A slot may consist of one or more symbols in the time domain (such as OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) symbols, SC-FDMA (Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access) symbols, etc.). A slot may also be a time unit based on neurologic.
[0129] A slot may include multiple minislots. Each minislot may consist of one or more symbols in the time domain. Minislots may also be called subslots. Minislots may consist of fewer symbols than a slot. A PDSCH (or PUSCH) transmitted in a time unit larger than a minislot may be called a PDSCH (or PUSCH) mapping type A. A PDSCH (or PUSCH) transmitted using a minislot may be called a PDSCH (or PUSCH) mapping type B.
[0130] Wireless frames, subframes, slots, minislots, and symbols all represent units of time when transmitting a signal. Different names may be used for each of these terms.
[0131] For example, one subframe may be called a Transmission Time Interval (TTI), multiple consecutive subframes may be called a TTI, or one slot or one minislot may be called a TTI. In other words, at least one of a subframe and a TTI may be a subframe in existing LTE (1 ms), a period shorter than 1 ms (e.g., 1-13 symbols), or a period longer than 1 ms. Note that the unit representing the TTI may be called a slot, minislot, etc., instead of a subframe.
[0132] Here, TTI refers to, for example, the smallest time unit for scheduling in wireless communication. For example, in an LTE system, the base station schedules each terminal 20 to allocate wireless resources (such as the frequency bandwidth and transmission power available to each terminal 20) in TTI units. However, the definition of TTI is not limited to this.
[0133] TTI may be a transmission time unit for channel-encoded data packets (transport blocks), code blocks, code words, etc., or it may be a processing unit for scheduling, link adaptation, etc. When a TTI is given, the actual time interval (e.g., number of symbols) in which the transport block, code block, code word, etc. are mapped may be shorter than the TTI.
[0134] Furthermore, if one slot or one mini-slot is referred to as a TTI, then one or more TTIs (i.e., one or more slots or one or more mini-slots) may constitute the minimum time unit for scheduling. In addition, the number of slots (number of mini-slots) that constitute this minimum time unit for scheduling may be controlled.
[0135] A TTI with a time length of 1 ms may be called a normal TTI, a long TTI, a normal subframe, a long subframe, a slot, etc. A TTI shorter than a normal TTI may be called a shortened TTI, a short TTI, a partial or fractional TTI, a shortened subframe, a short subframe, a mini slot, a sub slot, a slot, etc.
[0136] Furthermore, long TTIs (e.g., normal TTIs, subframes, etc.) may be interpreted as TTIs with a time length exceeding 1 ms, and short TTIs (e.g., shortened TTIs, etc.) may be interpreted as TTIs with a TTI length less than that of a long TTI but 1 ms or more.
[0137] A resource block (RB) is a resource allocation unit in the time domain and frequency domain, and in the frequency domain, it may contain one or more consecutive subcarriers. The number of subcarriers in an RB may be the same regardless of the neurology, for example, 12. The number of subcarriers in an RB may be determined based on the neurology.
[0138] Furthermore, the time domain of the RB may contain one or more symbols and may be the length of one slot, one minislot, one subframe, or one TTI. One TTI, one subframe, etc., may each consist of one or more resource blocks.
[0139] One or more RBs may also be called a Physical RB (PRB), Sub-Carrier Group (SCG), Resource Element Group (REG), PRB pair, RB pair, etc.
[0140] Furthermore, a resource block may consist of one or more resource elements (REs). For example, one RE may be a radio resource area comprising one subcarrier and one symbol.
[0141] A Bandwidth Part (BWP), also known as a partial bandwidth, may represent a subset of consecutive common resource blocks (RBs) for a particular neurology in a given carrier. These common RBs may be identified by an index of the RBs relative to a common reference point of the carrier. The PRBs may be defined and numbered within a given BWP.
[0142] A BWP may include a BWP for UL (UL BWP) and a BWP for DL (DL BWP). One or more BWPs may be set within a single carrier for a UE.
[0143] At least one of the configured BWPs may be active, and the UE does not need to assume that it will transmit or receive a predetermined signal / channel outside of the active BWP. In this disclosure, terms such as "cell" and "carrier" may be read as "BWP".
[0144] The structures described above, such as wireless frames, subframes, slots, minislots, and symbols, are merely illustrative. For example, the number of subframes included in a wireless frame, the number of slots per subframe or wireless frame, the number of minislots included in a slot, the number of symbols and RBs included in a slot or minislot, the number of subcarriers included in an RB, and the number of symbols, symbol length, and cyclic prefix (CP) length within a TTI can be varied in various ways.
[0145] In this disclosure, if articles are added through translation, such as a, an, and the in English, this disclosure may include the fact that the noun following these articles is plural.
[0146] In this disclosure, the term "A and B are different" may mean "A and B are different from each other." The term may also mean "A and B are each different from C." Terms such as "separate" and "combine" may be interpreted similarly to "different."
[0147] Each aspect / embodiment described in this disclosure may be used individually, in combination, or switched between as needed during implementation. Furthermore, notification of specific information (e.g., notification that "X is") is not limited to explicit notification, but may also be implicit (e.g., by not providing such notification).
[0148] Although the present disclosure has been described in detail above, it will be clear to those skilled in the art that the present disclosure is not limited to the embodiments described herein. The present disclosure can be implemented in modified and altered forms without departing from the intent and scope of the present disclosure as defined by the claims. Therefore, the descriptions in the present disclosure are illustrative and not intended to be restrictive in any way.

The base station according to claim 1, wherein the control signal transmitting / receiving unit receives information relating to the data request amount of each terminal from the lower node directly connected to it among all the lower nodes, and the control unit determines a range of data provision amount to each terminal based on the information relating to the communication channel capacity such that it does not exceed the communication channel capacity of any of the lower nodes, and determines the data provision amount to each terminal based on an evaluation function relating to the data provision amount within the range and within the range of the data request amount of each terminal.
3. The base station according to claim 1, wherein, when the required communication volume of each subordinate node is expressed as a linear sum of the communication volumes of each terminal, the limit condition of a certain subordinate node is a linear inequality of the number of terminals, and the limit condition of all subordinate nodes under its control is an AND condition of the limit condition of each subordinate node.
4. The base station according to claim 1, wherein the control unit performs scheduling including PF (Proportional Fair) scheduling based on the evaluation function.
5. The base station according to claim 1, wherein the control signal transmitting and receiving unit periodically collects information relating to the communication channel capacity of all subordinate nodes under its control.
6. A communication method in which a base station performs the following steps: receiving information relating to the channel capacity of all subordinate nodes from a subordinate node directly connected to it; calculating the required communication volume for each subordinate node corresponding to the amount of data to be provided to each of the subordinate terminals; and determining a range of data to be provided to each terminal based on the information relating to the channel capacity, such that the communication channel capacity of any of the subordinate nodes is not exceeded, and determining the amount of data to be provided to each terminal within that range based on an evaluation function relating to the amount of data to be provided.
