Abstract
A system for determining, or enabling another system to determine, a new configuration for a reconfigurable intelligent surface (6) is configured to obtain information indicative of received signal strengths of signals (11-14) and obtain learned information. The learned information represents a relationship per configuration of a plurality of candidate configurations between information indicative of received signal strengths of first signals (9,10) affected by the reconfigurable intelligent surface and information indicative of received signal strengths of second signals (11-14) not affected by the reconfigurable intelligent surface. The system is further configured to determine, based on the information indicative of received signal strengths and the learned information, for each respective configuration of the plurality of candidate configurations, an estimated performance indicator for the respective configuration, and determine, or enable another system to determine, the new configuration based on the estimated performance indicators.
