Description

[0001] A STRAW PRODUCTION LINE

[0002] Technical Field

[0003] The invention is about a straw production line that folds a single piece of paper in half in order to form a straw and preserves the integrity of the straw with the usage of hot glue, enabling the production of straws in the form of a straight pipe without disrupting the patterns, brands and writings printed on the straw.

[0004] Known stage of the state of art

[0005] Nowadays, paper straws are glued using cold glue. Since cold glue is water-based, it dissolves in cold drinks after a certain time, causing the glue to dissolve into the drink and the straw to open and mix into the liquid, causing paper pieces to come into the mouth during drinking.

[0006] The production method of paper straws in machines where cold glue can be used is as follows: Several thin paper rolls are passed through the glue bath. The adhesive rolls passed through the glue bath are spirally wound on a long paper cylinder. These long cylindrical tubes are then cut to the desired size.

[0007] When the papers are spirally wrapped, patterns, brands and writings printed on the paper usually overlap each other and cannot be completed. This situation negatively affects the design of the straw.

[0008] Following the research on the subject, a patent application titled ‘Device and method for making flexible shaped parts on tubular elements’ with the number EP4149749B1 was found. The subject invention relates to ‘an apparatus and a method for making a flexible shaped part (105) defined by a series of ring ridges (105a) and grooves (105b) on tubular components (100), so that at least one straw (101), preferably made of paper, is obtained from each of the tubular components (100) by mutual co-operation of the inner forming elements (15) and the outer forming elements (25)’.

[0009] When the papers are spirally wrapped, patterns, brands and writings printed on the paper usually overlap each other and cannot be completed. This situation negatively affects the design of the straw. As a result of the research on the subject, a patent application titled device and method for making flexible shaped parts on tubular elements numbered EP4149749B1 was found. Invention relates to ‘an apparatus and a method for making a flexible shaped part (105) defined by a series of ring ridges (105a) and grooves (105b) on tubular components (100), so that at least one straw (101), preferably made of paper, is obtained from each of the tubular components (100) by mutual co-operation of the inner forming elements (15) and the outer forming elements (25)’.

[0010] In conclusion, because of the negativities described above and due to the inadequacy of the existing solutions on the subject, it has become necessary to make a development in the relevant technical field.

[0011] Purpose of the Invention

[0012] The main purpose of the invention is to enable the production of straws in the form of a straight tube without distorting the patterns, brands and writings printed on the straw, while preserving the integrity of the straw by using hot glue.

[0013] The structural and characteristic features and all advantages of the invention will be more clearly understood by the figures given below and the detailed description written with reference to these figures, and therefore the evaluation should be made by taking these figures and detailed description into consideration.

[0030] Detailed Description of the Invention

[0031] The preferred configurations of a straw production line (A), which is the subject matter of the invention, will be described in this detailed description only for a better understanding of the subject matter.

[0032] As shown in Figure 1 , the straw production line (A) consists of a paper loading unit (10), a knife unit (20) and a folding unit (30). The roller (11) on which the paper (40) is wrapped is connected to the paper loading unit (10). A drive (12) is connected to the left side of the said paper loading unit (10) for transmission of motion.

[0033] Knife unit (20) is mounted on the right side of the folding unit (30) and is positioned between the paper loading unit (10) and the folding unit (30). Half of the paper (40), which moves to the aforementioned knife unit (20), is cut continuously with the help of the cutting knife (21) by leaving a sticking margin as shown in figure - 4. Thanks to this cut, the paper (40) can be bent as desired.

[0034] The folder unit (30) consists of sub-units such as folding area (31) and cutting area (32), which are placed in order to turn the paper (40), which comes half cut from the knife unit (20), into a strip that moves in the same plane by turning it 180 degrees and folded on top of each other with one edge fixed. The paper (40), which advances to the folding unit (30), is folded in the folding area (31) to form a tube, and is cut to the specified length in the cutting area (32) and thus becomes ready for use.
