[0005] Wearable medical devices are worn by individuals to monitor health and fitness metrics. These devices retrieve biological signals from the person wearing them and can retrieve, for example, heart rate, and blood oxygen levels, to name a few.
[0006] The result provided by these device can then be used by, for example, health care providers to diagnose patients and create treatment plans.
[0007] Optical wearable medical devices uses light-based technologies to track different types of health metrics with the help of optical sensors. Optical sensors can non-invasively retrieve biological signals.
[0008] One common type of optical sensors are photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors. PPG sensors monitor heart rate by using light to detect changes in blood volume within the microvascular bed of tissue.
[0009] When using wearable medical devices, it is important to ensure that the sensor accurately retrieves the biological signals. Factors such as contact between the sensor and the skin surface, and the presence of venous blood may affect the accuracy of the measurement result.
[0010] It is therefore a need to further improve wearable medical devices to ensure that accurate measurement results is provided.
[0011] Summary
[0012] It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved solution that alleviates the mentioned drawbacks with present devices. Furthermore, it is an object to provide a wearable medical device that improve the accuracy and quality of a measurement. The invention is defined by the appended independent claims, with embodiments being set forth in the appended dependent claims, in the following description and in the drawings.
[0013] According to an aspect of the invention, there is provided a wearable medical device for retrieving biological signals, the device comprising a sensor, more particularly an optical sensor, such as a Photoplethysmography, PPG, sensor; an adhesive layer attached to a contact surface of the sensor and configured to be attached to a skin surface; a housing attached to the adhesive layer, wherein the sensor is partially or fully enclosed by the housing and the adhesive layer; and a spring arranged between the housing and the sensor. When the wearable medical device is attached to a skin surface by the adhesive layer, the spring is configured to push the contact surface of the sensor towards the skin surface.
[0014] By “contact surface of the sensor” it may be meant a measurement interface surface, in particular an optical measurement interface surface, of the sensor. The measurement interface surface may be configured to be a skin surface of a user when the wearable medical device is arranged thereto.

Claims
CLAIMS1 . A wearable medical device (1 ) for retrieving biological signals, the device (1 ) comprises: a sensor (112), more particularly an optical sensor, such as a Photoplethysmography, PPG, sensor, an adhesive layer (15) attached to a contact surface (1121 ) of the sensor (112) and configured to be attached to a skin surface (2), a housing (110) attached to the adhesive layer (15), wherein the sensor (112) is partially or fully enclosed by the housing (110) and the adhesive layer (15); and a spring (111 ) arranged between the housing (110) and the sensor (112), wherein, when the wearable medical device (1 ) is attached to a skin surface (2) by the adhesive layer (15), the spring (111) is configured to push the contact surface (1121 ) of the sensor (112) towards the skin surface (2).
2. The wearable medical device (1 ) according to claim 1 , wherein the sensor (112) is rotationally movable relative the housing (110).
3. The wearable medical device (1 ) according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the adhesive layer (15) covers the entire contact surface (1121 ) of the of the sensor (112).
4. The wearable medical device (1 ) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the adhesive layer (15) comprises a sensor adhesive layer and / or a skin adhesive layer.
5. The wearable medical device (1 ) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the adhesive layer (15) comprises a conformable layer.
6. The wearable medical device (1 ) according to claim 5, wherein the conformable layer is substantially transparent.
7. The wearable medical device (1 ) according to claim 5 or 6, wherein the conformable layer covers the entire contact surface (1121 ) of the sensor (112).

9. The wearable medical device (1 ) according to any one of claims 5 to 8 when dependent on claim 4, wherein the conformable layer is arranged between the sensor adhesive layer and the skin adhesive layer.

The wearable medical device (1 ) according to any one of claims 5-9, wherein the conformable layer comprises a flexible and / or stretchable film configured to deform and / or conform depending on a skin surface (2) following added pressure towards the skin surface by the spring (111 )11.
