Abstract
The instant invention relates to a method for treating a surface of a metal, a metal alloy or a metal oxide by contacting the at least one section of said metal, metal alloy or metal oxide with an alkaline aqueous precoat solution comprising one or more than one tetrazole and / or triazole in combination with an acidic cleaning step which is performed either prior to or following the precoat step. It has surprisingly been found that when such pretreated surfaces are subsequently contacted with triazine compounds that the surfaces exhibit an improved resistance to delamination under thermal, humidity, and chemical stress conditions. This is demonstrated by increased adhesion strength and wedge void reduction.
