Abstract

Provided is a foreign metal detection device having a structure that can be easily downsized. In order to achieve this, one example of the present disclosure is a foreign metal detection device 1 comprising: a cavity resonator 10 that has a high-frequency hole 12 and a through-hole 11 through which a sample passes; a high-frequency transmission circuit 20; a high-frequency reception circuit 30; a first spacer 51; a second spacer 52; and a means 60 for electrically connecting the high-frequency transmission circuit 20 and the high-frequency reception circuit 30. The through-hole 11 has a constant hole diameter such that standing waves of a high-frequency signal are generated. An introduction port 41, the first spacer 51, and the high-frequency transmission circuit 20 are disposed in the stated order in one opening of the high-frequency hole 12 of the cavity resonator 10. An outlet port 42, the second spacer 52, and the high-frequency reception circuit 30 are disposed in the stated order in the other opening 12B. If a sample passing through the cavity resonator 10 contains metal, the high-frequency reception circuit 30 detects changes in the frequency and signal amplitude of a received high-frequency signal relative to when no metal is contained, and metal detection information is acquired from said changes.
