[0003] Existing e-commerce platforms expect merchants to comply with diverse requirements for product listings, including character limits, restricted words, data types and formats, and category structures. Merchants often face complications when dealing with multiple platforms, such as Shopify, TikTok Shop, or Square point-of-sale (POS), each of which enforces its own guidelines. Maintaining consistent, compliant product listings across these systems can become cumbersome, especially when platforms periodically modify their rules.
[0004] Many conventional approaches rely on manual edits, spreadsheets, or standalone scripts for each channel, which can be time-consuming and prone to oversights. Such manual steps can lead to incorrect or incomplete listings. For example, a restricted word list may be overlooked, or attributes such as universal product codes (UPC) may not be properly handled. Furthermore, it can be challenging to identify emerging platform features or communication opportunities using disparate manual processes.
[0005] By combining a rules-based approach with access to additional data sources and automated editing capabilities, the disclosed methods, systems, and media can help merchants, content creators, and other users create listings that adhere to platform constraints. Moreover, this disclosure provides targeted suggestions, for instance using platform-specific keywords or referencing product attributes, to enhance listing visibility and / or performance in one or more metrics. These embodiments allow users to address category mapping, seasonal restrictions, and other evolving requirements without resorting to entirely manual updates or multiple independent editing tools.

44. The medium of any one of claims 31 to 43, wherein modifying the item data comprises applying bulk updates or automated rules to multiple items simultaneously, including capitalizing text, appending or removing descriptors, or converting media formats.

The medium of any one of claims 31 to 44, wherein the set of platform-specific rules comprises at least one contextual indicator relating to a time-bound or seasonal classification, and comparing the item data comprises determining that a relevant time or seasonal event is active for the at least one electronic marketplace.
