Abstract

A digital compressor with a direct-start brushless permanent magnet motor includes a housing, a compression mechanism and a drive structure disposed within the housing. The compression mechanism includes first and second scroll members movable relative to each other between loaded and unloaded conditions. The drive mechanism is in driving engagement with at least one scroll member for orbiting one scroll member relative to the other scroll member in a generally annular path without rotation and includes a direct actuated brushless permanent magnetic motor. The direct start thirty permanent magnet motor includes a plurality of permanent magnets mounted on and generally extending axially along the rotor core body of the motor. The digital compressor package provides improved overall system performance to meet efficiency standards.
