Abstract
A process for harvesting fish eggs, particularly Salmon fish eggs, is provided. The process comprises rearing sexually immature salmon in an aquatic environment in stages during which at least the exposure to light and the duration of time are regulated. The rearing comprises at least a winter-summer period comprising a winter life cycle stage in which the fry are exposed to light simulating exposure to winter light, and a subsequent summer life cycle stage in which the fry are exposed to light simulating exposure to summer light, wherein the total Accumulated Thermal Unit (ATU) during the winter-summer period does not exceed 5000. The invention also provides salmon eggs produced by the process disclosed.
