AI Technical Summary
Existing thermal installations in collective housing buildings face challenges in efficiently replacing central boilers with heat pumps due to high equipment costs and the need for accurate power sizing. Additionally, these installations often require stopping domestic heating to heat sanitary water, due to differing temperature setpoints.
A thermal installation design that includes two water circuits with heat pumps placed upstream and downstream of input and output tanks, respectively, and a hydraulic link system allowing controlled transfer between the circuits. This setup includes a control system with valves and circulators to manage the hydraulic transfer and optimize energy use.
The solution allows for efficient operation of heat pumps in collective housing buildings, reducing energy consumption and costs by enabling flexible operation and compensating for heat pump failures, while maintaining comfortable temperatures in both heating and hot water systems.
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a thermal installation of a building, of the type comprising: a first domestic heating water circuit; and a second water circuit for heating at least one domestic hot water tank; the first circuit comprising a plurality of domestic heating appliances; and the second circuit comprising at least one heat exchanger capable of transferring heat to the at least one domestic hot water tank.
[0002] The invention applies particularly to residential type buildings, in particular to collective housing.
[0003] The heating needs of collective housing or tertiary buildings are generally covered by a thermal installation comprising a central boiler which supplies energy to both a heating water network and a domestic hot water network.
[0004] In individual dwellings, it is known to implement thermal installations equipped with a heat pump, as described for example in document FR2963418 in the name of the Applicant, as well as in document EP1775526. Heat pumps make it possible to reduce energy consumption by a factor of 3 to 4 compared to fossil fuel heating such as a gas or oil boiler. In addition, the use of heat pumps makes it possible to reduce the carbon footprint of the building.
[0005] However, a thermal installation operating on the basis of heat pumps represents a significant equipment cost. It is therefore necessary to size the power of such an installation as accurately as possible.
[0006] In particular, replacing a central boiler in a conventional installation with a heat pump would require a high-power device, which would make such a replacement difficult to sustain financially.
[0007] Furthermore, in known installations using heat pumps, it is common to alternately provide domestic heating and domestic water heating, due to differences between the set temperatures required for these two functions. This involves stopping the heating of the premises while the domestic hot water tank(s) are heating.
[0008] The aim of the present invention is to propose a thermal installation using heat pumps and adapted in particular to a collective housing building, while avoiding the drawbacks mentioned above.
[0009] To this end, the invention relates to a thermal installation of the aforementioned type, in which: each of the first and second water circuits comprises an inlet tank, an outlet tank and at least one heat pump, said at least one heat pump being arranged upstream of the inlet tank and downstream of the outlet tank; the inlet and outlet tanks of the first water circuit are arranged respectively upstream and downstream of the plurality of domestic heating appliances; the inlet and outlet tanks of the second water circuit are arranged respectively upstream and downstream of the at least one heat exchanger; and the installation further comprises a first hydraulic connection between the inlet tanks of the first and second circuits; a second hydraulic connection between the outlet tanks of the first and second circuits;and at least one device for controlling a hydraulic transfer between said first and second circuits. According to the invention, the first hydraulic connection comprises a first and a second hydraulic arm, each of said arms extending between the inlet reservoirs of the first and second circuits.;
[0010] According to other advantageous aspects of the invention, the thermal installation comprises one or more of the following characteristics, taken individually or in all technically possible combinations: the hydraulic transfer control device comprises a first control member, arranged on the first arm; and a second control member, arranged on the second arm; the first arm comprises a first water inlet connected to the at least one heat pump of the first circuit; and the first control member comprises two first valves located between said first water inlet and, respectively, the inlet tanks of the first and second circuits; the second arm comprises a second water inlet connected to the at least one heat pump of the second circuit; and the second control member (82) comprises two second valves located between said second water inlet and, respectively, the inlet tanks of the first and second circuits; at least one of the first and second water circuits comprises: a collector conduit arranged upstream of the inlet tank; a distributor conduit arranged downstream of the outlet tank;and a plurality of heat pumps, said heat pumps being connected in parallel to the collector and distributor conduits; the thermal installation further comprises a third domestic water circuit passing through the at least one domestic hot water tank, said third circuit being hydraulically isolated from the first and second circuits; the third circuit comprises a plurality of domestic hot water tanks connected in series; the at least one heat pump of the first circuit and / or the at least one heat pump of the second circuit is an air / water heat pump. The invention further relates to a method for regulating a thermal installation as described above, said method comprising: a first mode, in which the control device blocks a hydraulic transfer between the first and second circuits;and a second mode, in which the control device controls a hydraulic transfer from the first to the second circuit or from the second to the first circuit.;

[0052] The third circuit 24 passes through at least one domestic hot water tank 20. Said third circuit comprises a loop 92 connected to said tank 20 at both ends and equipped with a circulator. The outlets 91, connected to the various housings, are tapped onto said loop 92.
[0053] Preferably, the loop 92 comprises a three-way thermostatic valve 93, upstream of the outlets 91, said thermostatic valve being connected to the domestic water inlet 90.
[0054] In the embodiment of the figure 2 , the third circuit 24 comprises several tanks 20, 120, 220 connected in series. The domestic water inlet 90 is connected to a lower part of a tank 220 called “cold”. The upper part of said “cold” tank 220 is connected to a lower part of a tank 120 called “intermediate”. The upper part of said “intermediate” tank 120 is connected to a lower part of the tank 20 previously described, called “hot”.
[0055] In a variant not shown, the third circuit comprises two balloons connected in series, or a number of balloons greater than three.
[0056] Preferably, the or each tank 20, 120, 220 comprises a temperature probe 94, connected to the electronic control module 26. Preferably, the probe 94 is located in the upper part of the corresponding tank 20, 120, 220.
[0057] In a variant not shown, the third circuit includes several domestic hot water tanks connected in parallel.
[0058] The electronic control module 26 is connected to the temperature probes 35, 55 of the first 14 and second 16 circuits, as well as to the temperature probe(s) 94 of the third circuit 24. The electronic module 26 is also connected to the circulators 36, 42 and to the at least one three-way valve 38 of the first circuit 14; to the circulators 56, 62 and to the backup generator 58 of the second circuit 16; and to the members 80, 180, 82, 182 for controlling hydraulic transfer between the first and second circuits.
[0059] Preferably, the electronic module 26 further comprises a temperature sensor 96, capable of measuring a temperature outside the building 12.
[0060] The electronic module 26 stores a program for implementing a method for managing the operation of the installation 10, 110. Steps of this method are described below.
[0061] In the first circuit 14, under the action of the circulators 36, heating water is taken from the inlet tank 30 to circulate in the heating devices 18, 19, in order to heat the dwellings of the building 12. The cooled water is then returned to the outlet tank 32.
[0062] Preferably, a set temperature T1 of the inlet tank 30 is set by the electronic module 26 as a function of the temperature outside the building 12, measured by the sensor 96. More precisely, the lower the outside temperature, the higher the heating requirements of the building 12 are considered and the higher the set temperature T1.
[0063] For example, in mid-season, with an outside temperature of around 10-15°C, T1 is generally between 30°C and 45°C; in winter, with an outside temperature of around 0-5°C, T1 is generally between 45°C and 55°C; and during the coldest periods of the year, with an outside temperature that can drop below -5°C, T1 is between 55°C and 65°C.
[0064] In the case of a heating appliance 18 equipped with a three-way valve 38, a water temperature circulating in said appliance can be locally reduced by injecting a portion of the outgoing water into the inlet of said appliance. The water temperature in the appliances 18 can therefore be adjusted according to the dwelling or the room concerned, for example by means of an individual thermostat.
[0065] In order to maintain the temperature of the inlet tank 30 at the value T1, measured by the probe 35, one or more of the heat pumps 34 is / are activated by the electronic module 26.
[0066] Preferably, the or each heat pump 34 operates at a constant flow rate. In the case of a first battery 48 of pumps, the flow rate of water entering the inlet tank 30 is variable depending on the number of heat pumps activated.
[0067] Similarly, the flow rate of water leaving the outlet tank 32 depends on the number of heat pumps activated. The tubing 37 between the tanks 30 and 32 allows balancing in the event of a large difference between the flow rate imposed by the circulators 36 and that of the heat pump(s) 34.
[0068] In the second circuit 16, under the action of the circulator(s) 56, heating water is taken from the inlet tank 50 to circulate in the heat exchanger(s) 22, 122, 222, in order to heat the domestic hot water tank(s) 20, 120, 220. The cooled water is then returned to the outlet tank 52.
[0069] Preferably, a set temperature T2 of the inlet tank 50 is set by the electronic module 26. In particular, in a regulatory manner, the outlet loop 92 of the domestic hot water outlets 91 must be maintained at a temperature of 55°C. The domestic hot water contained in the tank 20 connected to said loop 92 must therefore be maintained at a higher set temperature T3, of the order of 65°C.
[0070] In order for the heat exchanger 22 to be able to heat the water in the tank 20 to such a temperature T3, it is necessary to set the set temperature T2 of the inlet tank 50 to a value higher than T3 by at least 5-15°C. For example, the electronic module 26 sets the set temperature T2 to 70°C.
[0071] In the case of an installation 110 comprising several tanks 20, 120, 220 connected in series, each tank 20, 120, 220 is associated with a separate set temperature T3, T'3, T"3, stored by the electronic module 26. Preferably, the further the tank 120, 220 is from the tank 20 connected to the loop 92, the lower the set temperature T'3, T"3.
[0072] The electronic module 26 manages the operation of the circulator(s) 56 supplying the heat exchanger(s) 22, 122, 222. Preferably, in the case of an installation 110 comprising several tanks 20, 120, 220 mounted in series, the circulators 56 are managed according to an order of priority depending on the proximity to the loop 92. In the example shown in figure 2 , the power supply to the heat exchanger 22 has priority over the power supply to the heat exchanger 122, which itself has priority over the power supply to the heat exchanger 222.
[0073] In order to maintain the temperature of the inlet tank 50 at the value T2, measured by the probe 55, one or more of the heat pumps 54 is / are activated by the electronic module 26.
[0074] Preferably, the or each heat pump 54 operates at a constant flow rate. In the case of a second battery 168 of pumps, the flow rate of water entering the inlet tank 50 is variable depending on the number of heat pumps activated.
[0075] Similarly, the flow rate of water leaving the outlet tank 52 depends on the number of heat pumps activated. The tubing 57 between the tanks 50 and 52 allows balancing in the event of a large difference between the flow rate imposed by the circulator(s) 56 and that of the heat pump(s) 54.
[0076] In the third domestic water circuit 24, the water is in permanent circulation in the loop 92 and in the associated tank 20, by means of the circulator of said loop. The thermostatic valve 93 makes it possible to maintain the water temperature at 55°C upstream of the outlet connections 91.
[0077] Furthermore, the water flow rate at the sanitary water outlets 91 controls the flow rate at the inlet 90, so as to ensure that the water level in the tank(s) 20, 120, 220 is maintained.
[0078] As indicated above, the set temperatures T1 and T2 of the inlet tanks 30 and 50 of the first 14 and second 16 circuits are independent of each other. When domestic heating requirements are low, such independence makes it possible to operate with a low set temperature T1 in the inlet tank 30 of the first circuit 14 dedicated to said domestic heating. Indeed, a low temperature of the water circulating in the exchanger(s) 40 of the heat pumps 34 makes it possible to obtain better energy supplied / energy consumed performance of said heat pumps 34.
[0079] The cumulative power of the heat pumps 34 of the first battery 48 is calibrated to be sufficient to maintain the set temperature T1 in the inlet tank 30 of the first circuit 14 in most external climatic conditions, for example when the temperature outside the building 12 remains above -5°C.
[0080] Likewise, the power of the heat pump 54, or the cumulative power of the heat pumps 54 of the second battery 168, is calibrated to be sufficient to maintain the set temperature T2 in the inlet tank 50 of the second circuit 16 under most conditions of use of the domestic hot water network of the building 12. In particular, the power of the heat pump(s) 54 is chosen as a function of the number of dwellings in the building 12 and / or the total capacity of the domestic hot water tank(s) 20, 120, 220.
[0081] Under such conditions of use of the installation 10, 110, there is no hydraulic transfer between the first 14 and second 16 circuits. The control members 80, 180, 82, 182, controlled by the electronic module 26, block the hydraulic transfer between said first 14 and second 16 circuits. In particular, in the example of the figure 1 , valves 84 and 87 are closed; and in the example of the figure 2 , circulators 180, 182 between inlet tanks 30 and 50 are stopped.
[0082] We now consider the case where the temperature outside the building 12 is minimal, for example less than -5°C. As indicated previously, the set temperature T1 then required in the inlet tank 30 of the first circuit 14 is of the order of 55-65°C.
[0083] It is then possible that the cumulative power of the heat pumps 34 of the first battery 48 is insufficient to cover the energy requirements for maintaining such a set temperature T1 in the inlet tank 30.
[0084] Such a situation may also occur in the event of a breakdown of at least one heat pump 34 of the first circuit 14.
[0085] In this case, if for example the temperature probe 35 indicates that the temperature of the inlet tank 30 remains lower than the set temperature T1 for a given time, the electronic module 26 implements a hydraulic transfer from the second circuit 16 to the first circuit 14.
[0086] In particular, in the example of the figure 1 , the valve 87 between the second tapping 89 and the inlet tank 30 of the first circuit 14 is gradually opened; while simultaneously, the valve 88 between the second tapping 89 and the inlet tank 50 of the second circuit 16 is gradually closed. Thus, the heat pump 54 - or alternatively a battery of heat pumps - is directly hydraulically connected to the inlet tank 30 of the first circuit 14.
[0087] In the example of the figure 2 , the circulator 182 is started, allowing a hydraulic transfer from the inlet tank 50 of the second circuit 16 to the inlet tank 30 of the first circuit 14.
[0088] The hydraulic connection 72 between the outlet tanks 32 and 52 allows hydraulic balancing between the first 14 and second 16 circuits.
[0089] Preferably, the electronic module 26 gives priority to the domestic hot water network. More precisely, if the inlet tank 50 of the second circuit is requested to supply the heat exchangers 22, 122, 122 following an alert from the probes 94 of the tanks 20, 120, 220, the hydraulic transfer from the second circuit 16 to the first circuit 14 is reduced or interrupted.
[0090] However, in practice, the heating requirements of the second circuit 16 are concentrated over specific periods of the day, in particular following significant withdrawals of domestic hot water from the tank(s) 20, 120, 220 in the morning and / or evening. During other periods of the day, the heat pump(s) 54 of the second circuit 16 are able to provide heating energy for the benefit of the first circuit 14.
[0091] We now consider a case of failure of the or at least one heat pump 54 of the second circuit 16. Conversely to the previous case, if for example the power required for domestic heating is less than the cumulative power of the heat pumps 34 of the first circuit 14, the electronic module 26 is able to implement a hydraulic transfer of said first circuit to the second circuit 16.
[0092] In particular, in the example of the figure 1 , the valve 84 between the first tapping 85 and the inlet tank 50 of the second circuit 16 is gradually opened; while simultaneously, the valve 83 between the first tapping 85 and the inlet tank 30 of the first circuit 14 is gradually closed. Thus, the battery 48 of heat pumps 34 is directly hydraulically connected to the inlet tank 50 of the second circuit 16.
[0093] In the example of the figure 2, the circulator 180 is started, allowing a hydraulic transfer from the inlet tank 30 of the first circuit 14 to the inlet tank 50 of the second circuit 16. However, depending on the domestic heating requirements, this case may require a one-off increase in the set temperature T1 of the tank 30.
[0094] Furthermore, in the case where the installation includes a backup thermal generator 58, said generator is preferably requested as a priority by the electronic module 26, before resorting to hydraulic transfers between the first and second circuits.
[0095] Typically, the power allocated to heating domestic hot water is around 20% of the total power of a thermal installation. The invention described above allows this power associated with domestic hot water to occasionally supplement the power allocated to domestic heating, during times when domestic water heating is not required.
[0096] Thus, it is possible to size the first battery 48 of heat pumps 34 with a total power 10 to 20% lower than the power dedicated to domestic heating in a conventional installation.
[0097] Furthermore, the thermal installation according to the invention adopts flexible operation in the event of failure of one or other of its heat pumps, by allowing punctual compensation between the first and second circuits.
[0098] Thanks to such characteristics, the thermal installation according to the invention is particularly suitable for equipping collective housing buildings.
