Abstract
The present invention discloses Process for the preparation of corrugated cardboard glue from avocado seed starch. The process involves the starch extraction from avocado pits [በ ዉ solution of sodium metabisulfite (Na:S:0s) to subdue polyphenol oxidation during the extraction process. Afterwards, 2 L of water were added to the slurry, which was then socked for 24 hours. The residue or the brown milk was placed [በ 8 vacuum oven and dried at 50 for 24 hours. The cardboard glue, Coragum, was formulated from avocado seed starch, caustic soda, and borax. The obtained Coragum glue showed that the low gelation temperature or characterized by high viscosity with the range of 35 to 40 The final product was formulated by mixing starch powder with 5% NaOH and 3% BORAX for commercialization purposes. The binding performance was examined by sticking the three compartments of the cardboard (flute, test liner, and kraft papers) with burst test of 9 Kg Cm-3 and crust of 27 Lb which are equivalent to TAPPI ISO standand methods. These outsanding results paves a way in producing paper based products and packaging soulutions.
