HANDLING SUB-STREAM DEPENDENCIES IN AUTHENTICATION OF VIDEO DATA STREAM

Abstract

A device for checking the trustworthiness of a video data stream obtains a plurality of substreams from a predetermined temporal segment of a sequence of temporal segments, in units of which the video data stream can be checked for trustworthiness, and further obtains dependency information, indicating, for the substreams, whether the substreams are independent or whether they are dependent on one or more reference substreams. The trustworthiness check is performed by forming a verification stream based on a hash value, obtained from a portion of the substream to be verified and based on the reference hash value. If the substreams are independent, the hash value obtained from the corresponding substream of the preceding temporal segment is used as the reference hash value.
