Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a method, system and non-transitory computer readable medium for providing ball quality information about a golf ball. [Background technology]
[0002] Recently, as modern people have more leisure time in their daily lives due to the development of digital technology, the number of people choosing golf as a hobby and sports activity is rapidly increasing. Accordingly, the golf industry at home and abroad is steadily growing, and at the center of this industry are screen golf systems that enable golfers to virtually enjoy golf and improve their golf skills at low cost in urban areas, etc. The basic concept of such a screen golf system is to obtain a large number of images of a golf ball when a golfer hits it, measure physical quantities related to the golf ball based on the trajectory, interval, size, etc., and perform a simulation based on the images to display the simulation results of the golf shot on a screen.
[0003] Meanwhile, as the market size of the golf industry gradually expands, many domestic and foreign companies are participating in the golf industry market, forming a competitive structure. Accordingly, the needs of users of screen golf systems are also changing, and there is a growing need for more accurate and sophisticated sensors, and a sense of presence and reality like an outdoor golf course, beyond simply enjoying golf indoors. In other words, there is a demand for various user interfaces or user experience elements that can further improve the user's immersive feeling in screen golf.
[0004] Therefore, in order to improve the immersive feeling of a user who uses screen golf, many studies or attempts have been made to improve the sensory interaction with the user. However, according to the technologies introduced so far in relation to virtual golf simulation, although it is possible to realistically express the trajectory of the ball using various image production methods and to accurately measure the physical quantity related to the ball using advanced sensors or algorithms, there is a limitation in that it is not enough to intuitively provide the user with specific shot data such as the speed and traveling direction of the ball hit according to the point where the ball is hit and the direction, angle or speed of the golf club. Specifically, in the simulation system, when the trajectory of the ball is expressed, only the focus is placed on the parabola along which the ball flies, and therefore it is not possible to intuitively confirm the launch angle and direction angle of the ball in the section where the ball rises (e.g., the rising zone of the ball).
[0005] Therefore, the inventors propose a technology to improve a user's immersion and golf skills by visualizing ball hitting information and directional information generated by referring to information on the physical quantities of the ball measured or estimated from at least one swing and displaying it in a first or second area, thereby enabling a user to immediately check whether the ball hit by the user is within the ball's rising zone and distinguish between normal and error trajectories. [0006] [Patent Document 1] Korean Patent Publication No. 10-2235460 (2021.04.02) Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0007] An object of the present invention is to solve all of the problems of the prior art described above.
[0008] Another object of the present invention is to provide a user interface or experience by intuitively visualizing the correlation of information generated before a hit ball forms a trajectory, thereby allowing a user to recognize the normal trajectory and error trajectory of a golf shot ball quality, thereby improving the user's immersion and golfing ability.
[0009] Another object of the present invention is to enable a user to intuitively grasp cumulative data regarding his / her golf shot by chronologically or cumulatively displaying a plurality of graphic objects generated from a plurality of swings within one frame, and to enable the user to set a goal for the golf shot and improve the golf shot based on the cumulative data.
[0010] Another object of the present invention is to improve the user interface or user experience so that the speed and traveling direction of the hit ball can be specifically and intuitively understood based on the point where the ball is hit and the direction, angle or speed of the golf club. [Means for solving the problem]
[0011] A representative configuration of the present invention for achieving the above object is as follows.
[0012] According to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method for providing ball quality information regarding a golf ball, the method including the steps of generating impact information and directional information of the ball by referring to information regarding physical quantities of the ball measured or estimated from at least one swing, and visualizing and displaying the generated impact information and directional information of the ball in a first area or a second area.
[0013] According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a system for providing ball quality information regarding a golf ball, the system including: an information generation unit that generates impact information and directional information of the ball by referring to information regarding physical quantities of the ball measured or estimated from at least one swing; and an information display unit that visualizes the generated impact information and directional information of the ball and displays it in a first area or a second area.
[0014] In addition, other methods and systems for implementing the present invention, as well as a non-transitory computer-readable recording medium having a computer program for performing the methods, are also provided. Effect of the Invention
[0015] According to the present invention, the correlation of information generated before a hit ball forms a trajectory is intuitively visualized to provide a user interface or experience, thereby allowing the user to recognize the normal trajectory and error trajectory of a golf shot ball quality, thereby improving the user's immersion and golfing skills.
[0016] In addition, according to the present invention, a plurality of graphic objects generated from a plurality of swings are displayed in one frame in a chronological or cumulative manner, thereby enabling a user to intuitively grasp cumulative data regarding his / her golf shot, and based on this, set a goal for the golf shot and improve the golf shot.
[0017] In addition, according to the present invention, since the error trajectory occurring in the virtual golf simulation system is not directly linked to the score, it is possible to eliminate the psychological anxiety that occurs, and to enhance the physical sensitivity to the normal trajectory and the error trajectory.
[0018] In addition, according to the present invention, by improving the user interface or user experience, the speed and traveling direction of the hit ball can be specifically and intuitively understood depending on the point where the ball is hit and the direction, angle or speed of the golf club. [0027] Information provision system configuration
[0028] FIG. 1 is a diagram illustrating in detail the internal configuration of an information providing system 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[0029] As shown in FIG. 1, the information providing system 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention may include an information generating unit 110, an information displaying unit 120, a communication unit 130, and a control unit 140. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the information generating unit 110, the information displaying unit 120, the communication unit 130, and the control unit 140 may be program modules, at least some of which communicate with an external system (not shown). Such program modules may be included in the information providing system 100 in the form of an operating system, an application program module, or other program modules, and may be physically stored in various known storage devices. Also, such program modules may be stored in a remote storage device that can communicate with the information providing system 100. Meanwhile, such program modules include, but are not limited to, routines, subroutines, programs, objects, components, data structures, etc. that perform specific tasks or specific abstract data types according to the present invention, which will be described later.

In addition, in some cases, all of the functions and all of the components of the information providing system 100 may be entirely implemented in or included in the virtual golf simulation system 200.
[0031] First, the information generating unit 110 according to an embodiment of the present invention can measure or estimate information about the physical quantity of the ball from at least one swing. Here, the information about the physical quantity according to an embodiment of the present invention can mean information obtained from at least one module (e.g., body or head direction, eye direction, launch angle, side angle, point related to the hit of the ball (or impact point), impact time, backspin, side spin, ball speed, club speed, club direction, ball rotation, impact amount, club path, etc.). However, the information about the physical quantity according to an embodiment of the present invention is not limited to the above-mentioned, and can be variously changed within the scope of achieving the object of the present invention.
[0032] For example, the information generating unit 110 according to an embodiment of the present invention may detect a plurality of dimples in each of a plurality of images captured of a ball that is the subject of measurement of a physical quantity or a measurement, and may measure or estimate a physical quantity related to the rotation of the ball by referring to the association between the attributes of a plurality of dimples detected in a first image and the attributes of a plurality of dimples detected in a second image among the plurality of images.
[0033] Meanwhile, for more detailed information on measuring or estimating physical quantities, reference may be made to the description in the patent application specification first attached to Korean Patent Application No. 10-2020-0133813 filed by the present applicant, and it is hereby made clear that the contents described in the patent application specification of Korean Patent Application No. 10-2020-0133813 should be deemed to be incorporated into this specification in its entirety.
[0034] Next, the information generating unit 110 can generate ball strike information and direction information by referring to the information related to the physical quantity.
[0035] Specifically, the ball hitting information according to an embodiment of the present invention is information about the ball hitting that can be measured or estimated from a user's swing, and may include information about a point related to the ball hitting or a face angle of the club. The face angle of the club according to an embodiment of the present invention is an angle between a virtual line perpendicular to the target line and the club face, and may affect the direction of the ball after impact.
[0036] In addition, the ball direction information according to one embodiment of the present invention is information regarding the direction of the ball that can be measured or estimated from the user's swing, and may include information regarding the launch angle related to the ball's reach and the side angle related to the ball's traveling direction.
[0037] Next, the information display unit 120 according to an embodiment of the present invention can visualize the generated ball hitting information and directional information and display it in the first area or the second area.
[0038] The first region according to an embodiment of the present invention may refer to a frame or zone through which the ball is expected to pass after a predetermined time has elapsed since the ball was hit. Preferably, the predetermined time may refer to the time it takes for the ball to form a trajectory (or ball quality) after the ball is hit.
[0039] Specifically, the first region in one embodiment of the present invention may refer to a region divided into four based on a launch angle related to the ball's reach and a side angle related to the ball's traveling direction.
[0040] More specifically, the horizontal axis of the first region according to an embodiment of the present invention may be formed to indicate a range of -10° to 10° from left to right, and the vertical axis of the first region according to an embodiment of the present invention may be formed to indicate a range of 10° to 20° from bottom to top, so that the first region may be divided into four based on the midpoints of the horizontal and vertical axes. Also, according to an embodiment of the present invention, the range of the horizontal or vertical axis indicating the first region may be dynamically changed based on a user's operation or selection.
[0041] Meanwhile, the second area according to an embodiment of the present invention may refer to a set of areas capable of indicating speed-related information among the generated ball hitting information and directional information.
[0042] Specifically, the second region in one embodiment of the present invention may refer to a spectrum representing the ball speed or club head speed measured or estimated from the user's swing (e.g., a set of line segments representing colors that connect continuously from red on the left to green on the right).
[0043] In addition, the second area according to an embodiment of the present invention may include an area where the ball speed or club head speed measured or estimated from the user's swing can be displayed together with at least one reference speed section. The reference speed section according to an embodiment of the present invention may mean a section for determining whether the ball speed or club head speed measured or estimated from the user's swing is appropriate.
[0044] More specifically, the second region in one embodiment of the present invention is a spectrum extending from red to green, and the ball speed or club head speed measured or estimated from the user's swing may be displayed within the spectrum in the form of a second graphic object (e.g., a bar or line) as described below.
[0045] In addition, according to one embodiment of the present invention, the reference speed range is included in a green area, and when the second graphic object is within the reference speed range, the user can recognize that he / she has made an appropriate swing (e.g., swinging at an appropriate club head speed or swinging so that the ball speed is appropriate), and when the second graphic object is in a red area outside the reference speed range, the user can recognize that he / she has made an improper swing (e.g., swinging at an improper club head speed or swinging so that the ball speed is improper).
[0046] Meanwhile, the information display unit 120 according to an embodiment of the present invention can generate a graphic object by referring to ball hitting information and direction information.
[0047] Specifically, the graphic object according to an embodiment of the present invention may represent geometric information that can be displayed as a point, a line, or a surface with respect to ball hitting information and directional information.
[0048] More specifically, the graphic object according to one embodiment of the present invention may include a first graphic object in which the shape of the ball, points related to the impact of the ball, and face angles are expressed in the form of points, lines, or surfaces and displayed in a first area, and a second graphic object in which the speed of the ball or the speed of the club head measured or estimated from the swing of the user is expressed in the form of a bar or line segment and displayed in a second area.
[0049] Furthermore, the first graphic object generated according to an embodiment of the present invention may be displayed at a position in the first region that takes into account the launch angle and side angle.
[0050] More specifically, the first graphic object according to one embodiment of the present invention is an object in which the shape of the ball, points related to the impact of the ball, and face angle are expressed in the form of a point, line, or surface, and may be displayed in a position that takes into consideration the launch angle and side angle determined based on the relationship between the points related to the impact of the ball, the face angle, the ball speed, or the club head speed in the first area before the ball's trajectory (or ball quality) is formed after the ball is hit.
[0051] Furthermore, according to an embodiment of the present invention, a plurality of first graphic objects generated from a plurality of swings of a user may be cumulatively displayed in a first region.
[0052] Specifically, the first graphic objects generated according to an embodiment of the present invention may be displayed in a time-sequential manner, for example, with different colors or shapes depending on the order in which the first graphic objects are generated.
[0053] According to yet another embodiment of the present invention, a plurality of first graphic objects displayed in a first area during a first golf simulation (e.g., a user performs a screen golf round at time t) may be displayed or removed from the first area based on a user's operation or selection when the user performs a second golf simulation (e.g., a user performs a screen golf round at time t+1).
[0054] Through this, users can improve their golf skills by updating their own unique first area and improving the accuracy of their shots.
[0055] Next, the communication unit 130 according to an embodiment of the present invention can perform a function of enabling data transmission / reception to / from the information generating unit 110 and the information display unit 120.
[0056] Finally, the control unit 140 according to an embodiment of the present invention may perform a function of controlling data flow between the information generating unit 110, the information display unit 120, and the communication unit 130. That is, the control unit 140 according to an embodiment of the present invention may control the information generating unit 110, the information display unit 120, and the communication unit 130 to perform their respective unique functions by controlling the data flow from / to the outside of the information providing system 100 or the data flow between each component of the information providing system 100.
[0057] FIG. 2 is a diagram illustrating an example of a situation in which the information providing system 100 according to the present invention is used in a virtual golf simulation system 200 according to an embodiment of the present invention.

[0060] Next, the lighting device 20 according to an embodiment of the present invention may be a device that can artificially irradiate light when a golfer enjoys virtual golf indoors or outdoors. Such lighting device 20 may be turned on and off or its brightness may be adjusted as needed. Preferably, the lighting device 20 may be an infrared light (e.g., an LED light) to prevent natural deterioration of multiple images due to blinking of light.
[0061] Next, the image capture device 210 according to an embodiment of the present invention may include at least one module (e.g., an eye tracking camera module, a swing motion camera module, a sensing module, etc.) (not shown) and perform a function of acquiring a plurality of images related to ball hitting information and directional information. The image capture device 210 may be disposed in a position where it overlooks the moving golf club head from above, but may also be disposed in other positions. Meanwhile, the image capture device 210 according to an embodiment of the present invention may realize a performance similar to that of a high-speed camera by sequentially acquiring a plurality of images using at least two cameras with different shooting speeds, or may realize a performance similar to that of a 3D camera by simultaneously acquiring a plurality of images using two 2D cameras.
[0062] Next, the simulator 220 according to an embodiment of the present invention may include a main module and perform a function of providing a user with information (e.g., a graphic object generated by referring to ball hitting information and the directional information) that is obtained by combining or analyzing information transmitted from the eye tracking camera module, the swing motion camera module, or the sensing module. [0064] FIG. 3 is a diagram illustrating an example of a first area and a second area provided by the virtual golf simulation system 200 according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[0065] 3, the first region 301 according to an embodiment of the present invention may represent a frame consisting of a vertical axis related to the launch angle and a horizontal axis related to the side angle, which is divided into four parts based on the center. Also, the second region 302 according to an embodiment of the present invention may represent a spectrum representing the ball speed or the club head speed, which may be displayed together with a reference speed section 303 that can determine whether the ball speed or the club head speed is appropriate.
[0066] 4 to 6 are diagrams illustrating an example of a user interface or user experience that provides information about a golf ball according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[0067] First, referring to FIG. 4, ball hitting information and direction information can be generated by referring to information on the physical quantity of the ball measured or estimated based on a user's first swing, and a first graphic object 403 and a second graphic object 404 can be generated based on the ball hitting information and direction information.
