Provided are long-circulating substance-free (LCMF) poloxamer compositions and uses thereof. In particular, provided are LCMF poloxamer 188 compositions and uses thereof. Also provided are supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) and high-pressure (subcritical) methods for preparing poloxamer compositions, particularly LCMF poloxamer compositions. [Solution] HO(CH2CH2O) a '─[CH(CH3)CH2O] b ─(CH2CH2O) a LCMF poloxamer 188, a polyoxyethylene / polyoxypropylene copolymer having H, wherein each of a and a' is an integer such that the percentage of CHO is 60-90 wt% and b is an integer such that the molecular weight of the CHO is 1,300-2,300 Da, wherein 1.5% or less of the total components are low molecular weight components and 1.5% or less of the total components are high molecular weight components, and wherein the polydispersity value is less than 1.07 and the circulating half-life is 5.0 or less.
